Thinking about James Fitzjames sharing with Elizabeth C. the letters he received from these little girls to show off their penmanships and express how much it touched him to receive them 🥺
And little Fanny be all: "Frostbitten toes be upon thee!"
God, children are magical and that's the most precious thing I've ever read.

FitzLetters Book (future publication)
And of course there's this beast of a book: Fitzjames' correspondence 1825-1845! First had it printed back in 2022 but now had it printed again after corrections & adding more letters. There's no text of mine/footnotes yet. More editing to do first. I have a different idea for the cover but this looks nice for now. ❤️
The letters are divided by the ships Fitzjames served on. A treasure trove of information, not just about Fitzjames but also early 19th century (naval) history. Over 550 pages! I typed all of this. 😵💫 Will also find a publisher for this after finishing the Fitzjames biography by the end of this year, hopefully!

james fitzjames fashion hours ! I like to think james' still wearing the long hair of an 1830s dandy bc if he cuts it it would mean he's not young anymore.

The Blorbos, from my Arctic History. James Fitzjames and Francis Crozier based on the daguerreotypes.
It's really annoying to try and draw someone if you only have the one picture of them, but I've been meaning to try for a while

Fitzjames (romance) novel
The kind of historical fiction I personally enjoy the most is plausible fiction and there is a very good Fitzjames novel that is just that: North with Franklin by John Wilson (1999). Wilson really captures the voice of Fitzjames using the information that was available then. The only thing I don't like is the romance that Wilson inserted, the person he chose for Fitzjames is completely unrealistic in my opinion (but of course you can do whatever you want in fiction). Can definitely recommend this book!
Two years ago Wilson published a sort of facsimile edition but I think the font is rather annoying to read:

hey Terror fans help a fella out!
I have a wedding to go to on Halloween. It is, of course, a costume party. My dumb ass has decided, in fucking Texas of all places, to dress as one of the cold boys (most likely Fitzjames or one of our lovely sideburn men).
I have a special request for the fandom, if they're up for it! I desperately need a place where I could get one of THESE bad boys:
Or possibly a pattern to make one, as I have... kind of a big head.
Recommendations for a place to get a decent coat like that, even if it's just costume stuff, would be helpful as well. I don't imagine I'll have much luck in the thrift shops, considering the typical climate!
In return I will 100% doodle your favorite cold boy. Feel free to DM me, or even post any links or web pages in the replies! Thanks in advance, lads! 💙
