Ship you fell in love with at first sight: MamiHomu There was this palpable tension in their interaction at the end of episode 1 that made me squee

Ship that you didn't like at first but like now: Hitosuke Looking back, they're just kids who are bad at communicating to their friends. Their friendship with Sayaka could have survived a love triangle in other circumstances.

Ship that you used to like but now you dont: KyouSaya I technically still like KyouSaya. It's just my least favorite ship in the quintet.

Favorite popular ship: HomuMado Do I even need to say anything?

Favorite rarepair: KyouMado The respect these two ended up nurturing over the course of episode 9 made me really want to see them interact more.

Favorite controversial ship: HomuSaya I've said before that I love the mutual antagonism between these two. They hate each other deeply, yet they also care for each other just enough that they can't hate entirely

Ship that you want to become canon the most: KyouHomu I liked their dynamic as reluctant allies in the series and confidants in Rebellion. They understand each other in a way the others don't. Also I didn't color Homura's eyes. Oops.

Comfort ship: MadoSaya These two are just so cute, I can't~!

Ship that deserves more attention: KyouMami The Different Story manga made me feel for these two in a way the series wasn't able to. There's affection and admiration, as well as lingering regret in their partnership that fell apart.

Hitomi, Kamijou and Nakazawa cor the ship bingo, if you dont mind?

I don't mind at all! Unfortunately it will result in you having to hear about my very specific takes though.

SO. When it comes to Hitomi I quite genuinely see her relationship with Kyosuke as comphet. I love Kyosuke (to the dismay of my friends) but he is extremely projectable onto by the people around him. And beyond that *gestures to rebellion* he's still oblivious.

That said, I do really like Felix's DW take on HitoSuke! (The entire DW au is amazing and all the dynamics have a special place in my heart) I just can't see them in a romantic relationship. In part because I think that Kyosuke is aromantic. I have a whole thing about how the violin shouldn't be the sole centre of his life but I don't think romance should be what "fixes" that for him. Hence why I like to play up Kyosuke's connection to all his friends!

I view NakaSuke as a queerplatonic relationship. They aren't dating but they are really important to each other in a way that seems more than their other friendships. (Do I know why these two of all the characters have some sort of hold on me?! No clue. I got attached and went "oh I can give them highly specific everything")

In the end the more I think about it the three of them could have some very complex thing going on that they can't exactly put into words, but that isn't very condusive to tumblr posts.

Final Thoughts:

Like two weeks late on this, lol. But hey, we’re here now! I was playing Astroneer. It’s pretty cool.

Oh, man. This chapter was so good. Hardly anything to nitpick about. Oda has been on a roll lately.

I was not expecting to see so many side pairings getting shown some progress, but I am so so so pleased that that’s what we were given in this chapter. I won’t mention every single one, but let me just say now that I love them.

Katai Ai remains my top pick for Shousuke. Sorry, Hitosuke lovers. No hate intended. She is just TOO CUTE. I love her.

Sanjuurokurou continues to have his head in the clouds. Thinking he can date two girls at once? Who does he think he is, some kind of isekai protagonist? lol. Seeing both girls break his heart was both sad and satisfying at the same time. Dude honestly kind of had it coming. Curious to see where his character goes from here.

Ase and Naruse! HOLY SHIT!! I was NOT expecting Naruse to do that of all things. But in retrospect, it is so in character for him to pull a stunt like this. I am so proud that Komi prevented Isagi from murdering him. She’s become such a good wingwoman for them.

I really loved seeing the elementary schoolers again. They’re all so adorable. But holy shit is Ooki ripped. What the hell has he been doing? Also for some reason he turned into that Tyler1 meme. You know the one.

Tadano’s turn was pretty good, all things considered. I still don’t understand why he gave Komi a cookie like the others when he already knows cookies mean “just friends”.

Manbagi could have been a bit more chill, but I’ve come to accept that she’s just like that. It doesn’t pay to keep getting worked up every time her switch gets flipped. I’m over it, fam.

TADANO AND KOMI ARE GOING ON A DATE. This is what I’ve been waiting for! It’s not in the next chapter, but soon! So very soon! GAH!! The anticipation for that is just absolutely killing me.

Next chapter is looking to be excellent. Tadano goes on a “date” with Komi’s father and brother. Stay tuned.
