I'm lab rats brained rn so here are my queer headcanons for the main cast (plus my fave side characters/non-main-characters)

Leo: he/him. Cis guy, cassgender, almondromantic, asexual, aegoromantic

Adam: he/him. Apagender, aroace.

Bree: she/her. Cis girl (or trans girl im cool w/ either), aroace lesbian

Chase: he/him. Intersex guy (cassgenderflux), aroace

Spike: mirror pronouns. Transgirl, demiagendergirl, aroace

Marcus: He/him. Cisgenderless, aroace

Daniel: she/any. Transgirl (maybe intersex not sure yet), demicass, aroace lesbian

Douglas: he/him. Cis guy (apagender) but he's also sorta gnc ig he just does whatever, bisexual

OR gnc (maybe transmasc ?) butch mspec (SAM) biromantic lesbian

Tasha: she/her. Cis woman, bisexual (mainly attracted to men tho)

Donald: he/him. Cis guy, asexual, bi in the way that like dads talk about conventionally attractive actors

Principal Perry: she/her. Genderqueer, gnc, lesbian

Owen: he/him. Transfem, aroace, biromantic

Janelle: she/any. Azurgirl, aroace

Trent: he/him. Cis guy, gay, aroace

Sebastian: he/him. Cis guy, aroace

Taylor: she/her. Trans girl, aroace

Owen, standing on top of the wall while the fading light streaks shadow down his face, looks almost impressive. Mohwee’s not afraid of him.

“I’ll break your legs,” Owen promises, something in the set of his jaw and the grip on his quarterstaff that nearly makes him look like he means it.

“Maybe you should,” Mohwee says. “What if I go in?”

“I’ll stop you. I’ll do whatever it takes to stop you.”

Mohwee allows himself a smile — Owen, all the way up there like an avenging angel, either doesn’t see it, or has a better sense of when to pick his battles than Mohwee thought.

He’s no angel. Good, because neither is Mohwee.

“I’ll come after you,” Owen says hoarsely. “I’ll chase you down. I’ll drag you back here with a pike through your leg if it means keeping you out of that maze.”

“I know you will,” Mohwee says. He’s spent more than a few nights hunkered down with whatever food he could snatch muffling sobs into his fist, and that alone is enough to know he hasn’t really wanted to go in the maze for a long time. “You promise, right?”

“I promise,” Owen says. And there’s the crack: he adds, “Please, don’t make me do this.”

No, Owen’s erratic and odd and demanding, and Mohwee doesn’t have a reason in the world to care about him. But right now? He’s the one standing on the wall, staring down like the gaze alone will be enough to keep Mohwee safe. Owen who won’t let his voice waver, Owen who flashes teeth before pretending to bite. Hunting dog, Mohwee thinks, sharp and sudden and clear.

No wonder he sounds so nice when he begs. It’s almost enough to make Mohwee bolt into the maze. What a relief it’d be, to know exactly what’s chasing him.

i think the rival system should exist in more games where romanceable characters can and will get together with each other instead of only with the player, it makes them feel more independent and real. the only downside is it breaks my heart to feel like i'm separating a couple if i have to romance one that has a designated ship </3
