tenth child and seventh son ( youngest surviving, after the sad loss of his two younger brothers ) of queen charlotte & king george, adolphus is about as easy-going as they come. it would be hard not to be with all the privilege but relatively little of the pressure that innately comes with being a member of the royal family.

ever the dutiful son, adolphus was an excellent pupil to most of his tutors ; he was by no means perfect, tending to pick and choose his moments to rebel or play tricks. he wasn't especially thrilled about being shipped to gottingen in lower saxony to complete his education at the ripe age of twelve, but such was his parents' desire, and so off he went. he dabbled in university there, and upon returning to england did the same at oxford.

adolphus' true passions weren't exactly the focus of a university education. music was featured, much to his joy -- but the arts more generally were not included. when he was finally free of formal education, all of the prince's energy went into learning all he could of the arts, and he is known as a great patron -- encouraging anything and anyone across the land to engage.

truthfully, he couldn't be more relieved to be enjoying the season and at home again. he's a social butterfly and relishes the opportunity to speak to folks he might not come across very often ( and of course, those he does. ) adolphus has not yet officially turned his mind to marriage -- thankfully there are a good few siblings ahead of him -- but he is a great romantic at heart and part of him dramatically believes it would kill him to be stuck in a completely loveless marriage. for the time being, he is quite happy engaging in fun dalliances, however long they may last.

Mary is the eleventh child and fourth daughter of King George III and Queen Charlotte. Like her siblings she grew up rather sheltered and in turn this has given her both a naivety and a fear of the world around her.

Mary is quite often found to be nervous. It is almost as if she is just always waiting for something bad to happen -- as if she feels as if there is something waiting around every corner. There are so many "what ifs" that could happen in every situation and with not knowing what the outcome could be, she worries.

philip is not comfortable around many people. he is very happy being a second son, largely forgotten, and able to drift into the background. his brother was much more comfortable in the forefront, and that was fine with philip as his brother would be the next earl, and philip would be largely forgotten

from a young age, philip discovered he enjoyed plants. he enjoyed planting, watering, watching them grow. as he got older he loved trying to find ways to make the grow better, stronger, last longer. he studied every book he could find, and knows almost every plant known by just sight and a few characteristic. he would rather spend time in his green house, hours on end, sometimes forgetting to eat. he had a few school friends, but he was never close with them, in the same manner his brother was with his own, and while he is no virgin, he had only been with a very small number of women.

his father, sir thomas crane, hated philip. he wasn't likable like george, he wasn't strong in the same sense, he felt his love of plants and gardening made him weak. his father was abusive, physically and mentally, and philip got the brunt of it. george never stood by and let his father just do it, but he could not stop their father. george was always the one to give philip something for the pain or other comfort.

aurelia was born the eldest and only child to nathaniel and rosalie george. she had been born purely out of obligation and duty. there was no love between the two of them but there was an extremely strong friendship and partnership.

growing up, aurelia was no stranger to all the finer things in life. she received the best of the best and that included education. her mother invested majority of her time ensuring that she had all the skills and tools to be able to marry someone of a higher station.

even from a young age, she had knew her role in this world and was aware of what she must do to play such a role. aurelia had always been smart and as clever as a fox.

when her half sister was born, rosalie refused to acknowledge their existence and refused to allow for her husband, nathaniel, to do the same. despite the love she had for her parents, aurelia could not find it in herself to do the same. hence, from her half sister's birth, she had committed herself to the role of caretaker, sister, mother and friend. she swore an oath to the newborn that she would always care and look after her.

upon her first season out in society, it did not take aurelia long to find herself a duke. she held no love for the man but he represented everything she needed and wanted; financial independence from her family and a proper station befitting her.
