Aside from the serious work of designing helmets and straight jackets in Sketchbook 5 I also doodled in collage with no serious intent other than that I did not want to ever restrict the creative flow of what wanted to arise from its own side. At the time I used to notice pictures of the kind of big handsome lads (so sadly lacking in my life at the time) in the weekly tv magazine mum used to get and thought it was funny at this point to combine them with lines of text from cheap books (which were in fact very innocent in nature but when taken totally out of context and cut up like William Burroughs in combination with the pictures told other stories). They were never assessed as work, just for my own entertainment really.
