I don't usually like to vent, but this is quite urgent. About a year ago HeroTaru was released, when it did, I was pretty excited and waited patiently every week for new episodes. When that finished, I found out there's a novel so I read both No fantasy and Heroine development plan.Recently I found a lot of comments saying HeroTaru would be perfect if it followed the original plot, aka the novel plot, and I agree. So I decided to make...

*Things that I think better of shouldn't happen and what should happen in HeroTaru*

1. The most obvious one... Nagisa's appearance

I didn't think too much of it at first, sure Nagisa is pretty nice, we were given a glimpse of Hiyori's past and I don't think that ever happened in the novel, and he mostly changed the whole plot of the story.

And that's the thing, HIS APPEARANCE SHIFTED THE WHOLE STORY! HeroTaru was suppose to be about Hiyori falling in love with someone, not the other way around. Plz don't attack me, but I really hate Nagisa, he is not needed for the story, his appearance came out as a surprise attack. I mean why would they suddenly change Hiyori's fate so abruptly?! Yujiro was here first btw.And now there's a new MV bases on the anime, like what?! Why would they do that?! The reason why the boys helped her dress up was because she fell in love, not for her childhood best friend! Their making it as if Heroine development plan and Heroine tarumono MV's didn't even existed?!

2. Mona's appearance

Imean, it's not like I hate it, Mona's kinda like the only person in the anime who could give Hiyori decent advice, and who relates to her a lot. I love their friendship. But the timing of their meeting doesn't make any sense. Mona debuted as an Idol around the beginning of highschool, and same goes for Hiyori who started her job as manager in training. So we could assume that their meet was before Christmas and after August or September. I've been following up on Mona's manga, and it really didn't specify the month of her debut, or the month they're currently on rn. And also, Aizo had an incounter with Mona after her first concert, and Hiyori isn't there, so I'm guessing this was before she got the job, or else they would have cross paths.

Do you have recommendations for shows/books/whatever with canon/basically canon polyamory?

ok the only media w officially canon polyam i personally consumed are Iron Widow and Hades.

Iron Widow is a mecha scifi/chinese fantasy book, it has pacific rim mechanics, so it takes 2 ppl to pilot the mecha but its more dystopian in that the pilot (male) usually drains the life force of his concubine (female). the mc has a guy shes interested in from the start but she pushes him aside to seek her goals to become a concubine pilot (theres a very good reason for this but i dont wanna give too much away) ends up being forced to work w the most dangerous pilot (spoilers hes actually a misunderstood sweetheart and i love him), her first love somehow finds his way back into her life so he can be their ally and its very clear from the first time he meets the other guy that this bitch is bi af. At one point he literslly saves their lives and i wont elaborate on that cause again spoilers but someone mentioned it in a propaganda ask. They canonically fall in live w each other and start dating. Please look up the trigger warnings first cause theres some heavy subjects addressed in this book. The book itself has trigger warnings listed at the start so if u find it at a book store u can check them this was too.

Hades is a roguelike videogame w dating sim mechanics (ish) -you give gifts to characters to learn more about them, and theres two romance options but you can romance both at once, they're both aware of and okay with it, hinting that they mightve had a past even before zagreus was born (its greek gods one is death incarnate the other is one of the furies, they've basically existed since forever)

ive been told Leverage is like the korrasami of polyam, as in they were as polyam as they could be in a show from 2010, so it sounds like its canon but not explicit because they couldnt get away with that.

The girls from Amphibia are apparently in a similar situation, heavily implied canon, someone told me it was confirmed by people who worked on the show, but i dont think its explicitly stated.

The Kane Chronicles apparently also has canon polyam, although its 2 bodies, cause I think one of them has a god in him or something? I never read the books, but I was told Sadie (i think thats her name? The girl) is in love w both of them, and kinda dating both too i think?

I dont know if Singing in the Rain is canon but theres that kiss gif that got prrtty popular on tumblr where kathy kisses one of the guys then the other, so it looks canon? or at least implied canon?

Sense8 as some people have mentioned has 1 officially confirmed to be canon throuple, 1 that has a lot of hints to confirm but a lot of ppl see it as a gay couple w a very supportive friend ig and someone else said in general because of the plot u could kind of see the 8 of them as a big polycule, although that one isnt canon

HoneyWorks/Heroine Tarumono is one of those songs turned novel turned anime. i dont think its confirmed canon but theres a lot of stuff pointing to the possibility, you mightve see @non-fantasy telling me about them in a few asks. im obsessed and ive yet to watch anything

Penumbra Podcast: Second Citadel has Rilla/Sir Damien/Lord Arum, i also haven't listened to this one but a lot of people told me rilla and damien were in a pre-established relstionship, both got crushed on lord arum separately, talked about it and worked things out to now be a canon polycule

im She-Ra (netflix) theres a trio that is implied to be a polycule at the end, a lot of ppl called them canon in the notes but i dont personally ember it being confirmed? i am very forgetful tho. It's Rogelio/Kyle/Lonnie, unfortunately they lost the prelim round

I believe people submitted some others that were canon but im very forgetful so i cant remember right now

sorry for not being normal. i love how carefully honeyworks has characterized aizou and yuujirou from their first introduction such that their personalities are clear and consistent from seika/yellow to hitsuyo fukaketsu to meoto to even hoka no yatsu ni iku nante sa/ore nashi ikite ikenai? to the magazine interviews! they’re not just contrasts but complementary on a textual level (solos that reply to one another, seika’s “i will make up for the parts that you’re lacking,” hitsuyo fukaketsu obviously always and forever) and their slow progression makes them genuinely so compelling and unique. even the earlier songs/hanipre live/light novels contain the conflict that they’ve now stated explicitly where yuujirou thinks aizou is too kind to him / aizou wants yuujirou to rely on him more. it’s all right there it’s always been there… i know i sound unwell

Appreciation Post to Kotaro and Arisa’s friendship bc why not?

Maybe here’s a thought.. I love how in the translated novel I’ve read by ramirei (spoilers ahead and beyond for this now for Heart no Shucho lol), what Kotaro said was what Arisa exactly hoped someone would feel. She wanted her message to reach Karen, but even if it seemed it didn’t to Arisa’s mind, Kotaro never hesitated to tell her it reached him, and that was such a gentle and heartfelt scene to me!! 

Tbh, I believe Kotaro would still do this for Arisa even without Ken telling him. I mean, it’s such a great AriKen story which I LOVE, but Kotaro always showed no hesitation to help her like how he never hesitated to tell her what she’s hoping for, reaching out to her the moment he saw her crying on the rooftop, and handing her a handkerchief when one of their classmates or herself (I don’t know if it was Karen or those in the earlier chapters) spilled something on her materials and Arisa was panicking.

Those who didn’t read the novel don’t know how Arisa went far to even consider to matchmake Koyuki and Natsuki for Kotaro lol (since she realized Koyuki’s a kind soul and thought Yuu’d be fine with his fangirls XD). I know someone thinks that she’s just indebted to him for doing something only her future bf requested (even if I think many would agree Kotaro is not willing to be bossed by anyone, and he dd it bc he knew it was the right thing to do), but I believe Arisa did everything not just out of debt; she genuinely wanted Kotaro, the only friend she had aside from Karen, and the only one who stood by her on those sad times of her life, be happy. 

Paying debt might be a factor at the beginning, but it was genuine friendship nonetheless. Isn’t being determined and genuine in making a person happy and wishing them them the best all throughout your lives considered friendship? Plus, if it was just out of debt, Arisa won’t be the captain of the KotaHina ship like how I believe Haruki co-captains NatsuYuu with Hina (I mean oh boy, Haruki helped Natsuki organized her initial confession lol. His sibling dynamic with Natsuki in the novels are so underrated too). 

Tbh, Arisa rocks being KotaHina’s captain lol.

To conclude this post, I just want to appreciate Kotaro and Arisa’s friendship. I may have never gotten a Kotaro to my Hina, but I deeply appreciate the Kotaros I have in my life to the Arisa in me. Tbh, before Hiyori, Aizo and Yujiro, Arisa and Kotaro showed that male-female friendships could really work without being romantic.  Y’all read Heart no Shucho already if you still haven’t. It’s actually my 3rd fav novel next to Sekoi and Yakimochi no Kotae bc I never expected this friendship would be so wholesome and beautiful to read. I know Hina showed kindness to Arisa and so does Ken in his indirect ways, obviously, (I love AriKen!!) but I feel like many had slipped into their minds that if Kotaro was not present and ready to give her a hand on those times, she probably would have given up before Sena’s words could reach her. Kotaro’s mere presence in her life made her not give up, and that made her so dedicated to give a hand in his times of needs as well.  Her friendship with Karen led to misunderstandings that wouldn’t be cleared until years later in High School, but she found a friend in Kotaro and that’s worth appreciating. Also, I love how Kotaro showed his chaotic side to Arisa on the latter parts of the novel lol. 

It’s also worth noting how right after Hina cried on Koyuki’s departure in middle school, Arisa and Kotaro spent their time together while hoping for a better future.  (like, I always love the chapters before the epilogues lol. It’s the same for Sekoi and Yakimochi no Kotae HAHHA)

💙 «Una brisa que sopla desde algún lugar hace parpadear a la llama de una vela colocada sobre una mesa redonda. Había varios clientes en el interior de la tienda, charlando en voz baja mientras dejaban caer sus copas. En cualquier ciudad, en los bares céntricos como éste, se suele llenar de clientes ebrios que se divierten excesivamente y hacen mucho ruido; pero los clientes de esta tienda tenían expresiones sombrías y no soltaban ni una risa. Sólo se limitaban a dirigir una mirada recelosa hacia los turistas del mostrador.

Desde mi primera visita a esta ciudad, he percibido esa atmósfera de "algo anda mal" en mi piel, pero de vez en cuando, ese sentimiento se va haciendo cada vez más fuerte. Además de ser una ciudad rural cerrada y poco visitada por los viajeros, se trata de la capital real de un pequeño país, y alzándose más allá de las puertas, es posible ver un castillo con un campanario.

Aunque había oído que muchos viajeros y mercaderes visitarían esta ciudad porque en este país el comercio es "próspero", la mayoría de las tiendas a lo largo de la calle principal estaban cerradas, y solo los viejos letreros se arrastraban con el viento. La gente que caminaba por las calles era escasa. El mercado en el que me detuve durante el día, sólo vendía algunas pequeñas cantidades de verduras secas. Ni siquiera se podían escuchar las voces de los niños; me pregunto qué querrá decir eso.»

Mientras inclino mi copa, hablo despreocupadamente con el dueño de la tienda. El hombre que había estado sirviendo sake en la barra me miró con sospecha y dijo "No es así", negando con la cabeza.

– “Ahora que han aparecido los demonios, los caminos son intransitables. Gracias a aquello, así estamos.”

💙 "Heh..." (Demonios ¿no?...)

– "Historias como esa no son poco comunes. De hecho, mientras estás viajando, podrías encontrarte con esos demonios."

💙 «Aún así, en las montañas y los castillos, hay más bestias salvajes que atacan a los viajeros e intentan robarles los bienes y el oro, que demonios; en cualquier caso, las armas de autodefensa son indispensables para viajar. No importa si estás dentro de los muros de la ciudad, al dar un solo paso fuera de las puertas, ya estás en zona de peligro, donde puedes ser atacado por cualquier cosa en cualquier momento.»

– "Era bueno cuando estaba el anterior rey; pero desde que la princesa asumió el trono..."

El dueño de la tienda de repente adoptó una expresión complicada en el rostro y mantuvo la boca cerrada.

💙 "Bueno, tú también deberías irte de esta ciudad lo antes posible..."

Cuando dije eso, el hombre me dió la espalda, como si no quisiera que le haga más preguntas. Supongo que no tendría sentido interrogarlo más. Así que decidí colocar una moneda de plata en el mostrador. Dejé la copa de vino aguado y fino medio llena, y recogí mi equipaje que estaba apoyado sobre una silla.

Un largo arco envuelto en tela... Cuando me lo eché al hombro, dije "Gracias por la comida" mientras dejaba el mostrador. Los clientes repentinamente se quedaron en silencio y observaron pacientemente hasta que dejara la tienda. Cuando salí y cerré la puerta, un viento húmedo sopló contra mí. La lluvia ya había empezado a caer. El cielo estaba totalmente oscuro y no había ni una persona en la calle.

– "No logré oír ninguna historia decente..."

Me coloqué el sombrero de ala ancha y empecé a caminar por las calles hechas de piedra, que comenzaban a mojarse. Antes de venir a este pueblo, conversé con varias personas. No obstante, todas, fruncían la boca en torno al tema y se resistían a decir demasiado. En tal caso, tenía que quedarme unos días y recopilar información pacientemente.

(No se podía evitar... Aunque, no hay ni una figura humana a la vista.)

Miré alrededor de las tranquilas y oscuras calles, pero noté que ni siquiera se podían ver las luces de las casas. Era espeluznante, como una ciudad desierta. Aún cuando el sol acababa de ponerse, era demasiado pronto para calmarse. Al notar el sonido de una puerta abriéndose, me volteé y vi a un niño pequeño asomarse. En cuanto sus ojos me encontraron, inmediatamente se retiró al interior de la casa. Tras cerrar la puerta de golpe, se oía al otro lado la voz de su madre regañándole: "¡Te he dicho que no salieras!"

(...No es que no haya gente alrededor)

Con una mirada dudosa en el rostro, comencé a caminar. Algunas de las brumosas nubes eran de color rojo tenue, creo que porque la luna ya se estaba escondiendo. Recostado contra una pared, un anciano borracho estaba acostado con una botella de sake en sus brazos.

Luego de cruzar un puente de piedra que estaba sobre un canal, noté una figura que se extendía detrás mío. Después de echar un vistazo a la superficie del río, reduje la velocidad de mis pasos intencionalmente. Incluso al ingresar a una estrecha calle, la sensación de que alguien te sigue por detrás no desaparecerá.»

[En una esquina de la calle, Yuujirou se dió la vuelta y vió algo, justo antes de salir corriendo. El sonido de los pasos de quién iba atrás también se aceleró, como si tuviera prisa. Antes de que se diera cuenta, la lluvia se estaba intensificando y la capa y el sombrero estaban completamente empapados. Al final del camino había una pared, era un callejón sin salida.

Yuujirou se dió la vuelta y sacó la daga que llevaba oculta en la cintura. La punta de la espada atravesó el cielo. Había estado lo suficientemente cerca como para alcanzar en poco tiempo a su oponente, que le estaba persiguiendo, pero le era más rápido agacharse hacia atrás y esquivarlo por reflejo. Al ver que se tambaleó por un momento, Yuujirou dió una patada contra el suelo para intentar darle la vuelta]

"¡Es- Espera!"

💙 «El adversario jadeó fuertemente como si estuviera nervioso, y alzó la manos como si no tuviera intenciones de atacar. A juzgar por su estatura y rasgos físicos, no era mucho mayor que yo. También llevaba un sombrero y una capa, como si fuera otro viajero.

Mirando sus anchos hombros, y fuertes brazos y piernas, debió haber hecho mucho ejercicio. Llevaba el pelo recogido en una cinta, y la lluvia goteaba desde la punta de su profundo sombrero.»

💛 "¡No me ataques de la nada! ¿¡No es eso cobarde?!"

💙 "Tengo derecho de no tratar con cortesía a un pícaro * que persigue a la gente."

Con la daga todavía apuntándole, respondió con un suspiro:

💛 "No soy un 'pícaro'. ¡Se puede decir con sólo mirar mi apariencia!"

💙 "Suficiente, para mí te ves bastante como un pícaro"

💛 "¿¡HAH?! ¿¡En dónde?!"

💙 "En la cara y la atmósfera. ¿Qué eres si no eres un pícaro? ¿Un bandido? ¿Un asaltante? ¿Un ladrón?"

💛 "Eso... ¡Eso es todo lo mismo, ¿no es así?!"

💙 «Agachó la cabeza y suspiró, como si estuviese cansado. Volviendo hacia mi daga, casi me reí de aquel cuya expresión cambiaba tanto. Supongo que no es mentira que no es un 'pícaro'. Si es ese es el caso, estoy algo interesado en saber por qué me siguió. (En cuanto a la otra historia, estaría encantado de escucharla, pero...)

💙 "Entonces... ¿Qué es lo que quieres?"

Él levanta la vista y me mira directamente con una expresión seria en el rostro.

💛 "Vine, porque... escuché que había un tipo en esta ciudad que buscaba la única joya que puede hacer realidad sus deseos... Así como yo".

Su voz, de tono grave, se superpuso al sonido de la lluvia que golpeaba el callejón. Uno frente al otro, nos quedamos en silencio unos segundos mientras nos mirábamos, creo.»

[Yuujirou bajó lentamente el ala de su sombrero. Lo único que se le escapó de los labios fue un "Ah, ya veo...", sólo esa palabra].

* La palabra 'PÍCARO' hace referencia a una persona pobre y de ""mal vivir"", que suele ser descarada, astuta y traviesa, y que roba frecuentemente a los demás para poder subsistir.

- Perdón por la redacción tan cortante o confusa, pero este capítulo de la novela usa un lenguaje educado y MUY complicado, por lo que costó mucho llevarlo al español sin que algunas palabras quedaran un poco fuera de lugar y/o incorporadas de manera extraña.
