Maidin mhaith! Asking from my main (you probably know me from my sideblog llyfrenfys) but recently I've decided to relearn Irish and I was wondering if you knew of any resources for learning the Ulster dialect specifically?

I was taught very basic Irish at undergrad in the Connacht dialect- but I've forgotten most of it since I've been focusing on my Welsh more in the last few years. I've decided to try again with the Ulster dialect and so far I'm doing better than the first time round. The similarities with Scottish Gaelic really help, since I was able to pick up the basics of that a lot faster than when I first was taught Irish. In any case I'm finding the Ulster dialect a lot easier and I'm enjoying being able to say things as Gaelige again.

It's alright if not, but are there any resources out there for the Ulster dialect specifically? Grma in advance!

I’d love to help but unfortunately I have no idea. I definitely know a couple of people who are trying to learn Ulster Irish though and maybe they might have better advice - @trans-cuchulainn I think is one? And @kaityslangblr has quite a few posts that look educational.

Ultimately 2002 absolutely FUCKING WON as far as kids movies went (Treasure Planet, Tuck Everlasting, Spy Kids 2, Lilo and Stitch, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, Clockstoppers, Big Fat Liar, Cadet Kelly, Snow Dogs, Dinotopia, Ice Age) but mostly I’m nostalgic for all those movies cuz it was the year before @hereticfairy got inducted into the cult

So I’ve drawn bulkhummus’s Cecil and Carlos before, but I have not yet drawn @sm0kebreaks’s Cecil and Carlos (aside from a sketch which I still like but I’d like to do something more complete). This must be fixed immediately I think

Something that kills me is that there’s no way in hell that Raph’s debilitating separation anxiety isn’t infinitely worse after the movie. The trauma of being Krangified like that, all alone, would probably regress him so hard.

Not to mention his worries of getting “weird” would likely get mixed up with his experience while Krangified - aka, he loses full awareness, and when he’s brought “back” it’s to the understanding that he attacked his own family (of course not to his own fault at all, but how much of that does he believe?)

The fear of being alone would take on another layer and become a fear of himself.

I bring this up because I think Tumblr is the REASON why I improved so much! I experimented with brushes (digitally) and I found my brushes!! I learned how to EXAGGERATE AND ACTUALLY DRAW CARTOONY LIKE I’VE WANTED TO FOR SO LONG!!

(And NEVER took an art class. That’s fucking what- �� I need to take one I actually need to at this point-)

Also also also- I’ve learned a lot of things! Anatomy, exaggerative expression, stretchy cartooniness, ALL OF THESE ARE JUST- I can’t believe I’ve learned all this because one day I decided: “Maybe I should ACTUALLY get a social media for my art? 🤔” AND I DID IT AND CHANGED MY LIFE‼️‼️‼️

I call them Fran. Their schtick is that they just dance all day long without breaking a sweat. They’ll invite you to dance til you have no energy. After that happens, the parasite comes out and takes your body! :D

Her whole “dancing with you til you have no energy” thing is inspired by the legend of Rose Latulippe where a girl dances with the Devil til midnight and then gets doomed forever (very short summary but you get the jest). It’s a very old French canadien legend.

Her hair is also inspired by Wilford Warfstach, because I love the guy and he does disco so I was like “yeah sure why not”.

Here’s a height chart. Fran’s height is the same as mine, but she looks taller because of her goddamn shoes
