heyyy!! i hope you’re well!! i was hoping you could write a jealous!aaron x reader where she’s basically getting hit on while she’s at girls night and maybe penelope snaps a picture of her and the guy and sends it to the BAU gc and aaron basically drives over and suprises you because he was jealous
a/n: hi! thank you for the request, lovely, i was so excited to write this one :)
Word Count: 2k
Warnings/notes: drinking, asshole-type men (yes that's a warning)
<3: aaron hotchner x fem!reader, established relationship
Girls' night always - always - ended in one of your own getting hit on. Usually, it was JJ, but Emily fielded her fair share of creepy drunk men. Penelope tended to go after men herself, and you were the quiet one that laughed along with the others at the strange men eyeing them up. Rarely were you ever the target of their affections.
It was something that the other girls constantly tried to change, with JJ repeatedly pointing you out to the men who came over to the table (which almost always ended in you ducking away to the bathroom until the guy got the hint). They didn’t know that you were more than content being an observer of their conversations, happy to celebrate the numbers Emily and Penelope received and laugh over the rejections of the men that came after JJ.
They didn’t know, because they all still thought that you were single. You’d never told them otherwise, and that was mostly because of who you were currently dating: Aaron Hotchner, your boss.
It was a connection that blossomed over the many years of you being at the BAU, not the same as some rushed, half-assed attempt to score during a night out. He loved you, and you loved him, and you were trying to take it slow out of the eyes of your coworkers. It’d worked for almost two years now with only a few minor slip-ups that were easy to explain away to the people who’d witnessed them.
Not Rossi, however. Rossi had you two figured out almost as soon as you started to take things seriously, and now he acted as your protector. He changed subjects, scolded, and made those who questioned you or Aaron seem stupid. He was the perfect person to have as a secret keeper, mostly because he didn’t have it in him to care that much.
And he’d done a beautiful job, too. It was a running joke on the BAU group chat that Penelope’s mission on your nights out was to find you someone to go home with. This was why, despite your usual invisibility, when a guy approached you at the bar, you were left alone with him, your girlfriends disappearing into the crowd around you.
“-And so, yeah, I would say I’m self-made. I mean, my dad did lend me most of the money I used to actually start up, and all of my customers came from the family company, too, but I run the place, you know?” The guy interrupted his ramblings to take a sip from his beer, and you continued your nodding.
You were used to listening to fast ramblings, thanks to Spencer, but usually his monologues were interesting, and you could follow them with relative fascination. This guy was just… awful. At storytelling, and being a good conversationalist in general.
“He hasn’t stopped talking this whole time,” JJ observed from their table, shaking her head, “Can’t imagine he’s particularly decent.”
“She hasn’t walked away, yet, though,” Emily shrugged, “Maybe he’s like Reid?”
“Does he look like Reid?” Penelope pulled her phone out of her bag, “Doesn’t matter. Mission half accomplished - everyone has to see this.”
She snapped a photo of the two of you, him leaning into you, you leaning onto the bar. From an outsider's perspective, with the angle that Penelope had taken the photo, it might have looked like you were enjoying his advances more than you actually were. You felt the vibration in your pocket as Penelope sent your photo to the group chat, but you didn’t look, too focussed on how you were going to get out of the man’s company without causing a scene to care about what your phone was doing.
“Oh, look,” Emily pointed to Penelope’s phone, “Morgan’s already responded-” She switched to a lower tone of voice as she read out the man’s text. “-Doesn’t count, Babygirl. Nobody’s gone home yet.”
“He’s right, you know,” JJ looked back at you and the man, “And I don’t think this is a match made in heaven.”
“I can’t keep losing this bet!” Penelope complained as she shoved her phone back in her bag and sat down, disheartened.
“Ha!” Emily laughed, looking at her own phone, “Hotch has seen it.”
“Oh, that’s embarrassing,” JJ stifled her own laugh by taking a sip of her drink, “Delete it, Garcia. Her boss has seen that.”
“He’s seen it all - he’s in the group chat,” Penelope defended, “Maybe the embarrassment of her constant failure will lure her into a perfect match.”
“That makes sense,” Emily commented sarcastically, eyes roaming over the crowd.
You laughed politely at the man’s joke before averting your eyes down to your lemonade. You weren’t supposed to be the designated driver - the four of you were meant to get a cab - but once you’d found out about Penelope’s plan, you’d switched to non-alcoholic drinks.
It wasn’t that you didn’t trust yourself, but you studied serial killers and rapists for a living, and you knew that some men liked to take advantage. If you were drunk, you couldn’t defend yourself as well as if you were sober. Usually, it wasn’t an issue - you had your girls - but sometimes the anxiety was too much for you to enjoy a drink, and that anxiety only increased tenfold when you were left alone with a guy.
The man’s droning on was getting so tedious that when you looked over his shoulder and saw Aaron - neat suit and all - you thought you had imagined him. Then, when he started moving closer, you started to worry that he would get the wrong idea.
But, he knew you, and you could tell by his caution that he was well aware of how you were feeling, tuned into your discomfort. Once you’d confirmed that your boyfriend was, in fact, in the same bar as you, you smiled and communicated with your eyes something that you hoped sounded like: ‘Get the hell over here right now.’
“Excuse me,” Aaron attached himself to your side, and you instantly felt safer, “What are we talking about over here?”
“Hey, back off, man,” The guy stood up straighter, and Aaron slipped an arm around your waist, “I’ve been talking to her all night.”
“Yes, and clearly it was riveting conversation,” Aaron eyed the many empty bottles surrounding the two of you and then your own singular glass of lemonade with disdain, “But it’s time to say goodnight.”
He didn’t even allow the man to say anything else, just used his grip on your waist to spin the two of you around and toward where he knew the girls were sitting. His arm left your waist once the two of you were no longer shielded by other people, and as you approached the tall table, sliding into the spare chair, you scowled at Penelope.
“Next time you try to set me up against my will, at least make sure he’s not a jerk.”
“Next time, my love.” She promised, placing a warm hand on your shoulder.
Aaron stood to your right, in between you and JJ, and you gestured to him as you looked between your three friends, “Look at who had to come and save me,” You feigned annoyance, and acted as though you were secretly telling the girls of your embarrassment, “How did you even know we were here?”
“Oh, my God. He saw the photo.” Penelope gasped.
“The what?”
“Garcia put a photo of you and the guy on the group chat to try and prove that she’d succeeded in her mission,” JJ admitted, amusement swimming in her blue eyes as she looked between you and Aaron.
“Oh, you’re asking for an HR case,” You pointed a finger at the flamboyant blonde, who smiled sweetly at you, tucking her hands underneath her chin, “You sent a picture of me at a bar to all of my colleagues?”
“If it makes you feel any better, Morgan said it doesn’t count.”
“Oh, great, so you sent my picture to my colleagues, and it didn’t even count.” You were only joking with them, and each of them was well aware of that fact.
“Still,” Emily turned her attention back to Aaron, “Why are you here?”
You also turned to look back at him as he rubbed the back of his neck. He clearly hadn’t thought much past the initial urge to save you from your misery, and you were sure that not even Rossi could’ve lied your way out of the situation.
“Um…” He narrowed his eyes, brain working overtime for something believable, “I was here already for, the, uh…”
His eyes darted down to yours in desperation. You laughed at him, leaning your head back onto his shoulder and reaching your hand down to grab at his. The secrecy was on your account, as most things in your relationship were; not only because he was technically your boss, but also because he was head-over-heels obsessed with you. It was created on your account, and you would be the one to break it.
“Okay, guys, there’s a reason why I never go home with anyone from the bar…” You grinned, peeking up at Aaron from where the back of your head rested just below his chin before you looked back at the girls.
Penelope was shocked into silence, her mouth wide open, hands stuck out by her sides, JJ was sporting a happy smile of her own, and Emily had a hand over her mouth, eyes blown with shock. After a few seconds of silence, where Aaron squeezed your hand to soothe both of your nerves, the group sprung into action.
“Oh, my God!” Emily chuckled, “I knew there was something going on. I knew it!”
“Oh, this is… This is…” Penelope waved her hands around.
“Wonderful,” JJ finished, reaching over to touch your other hand that rested on the table, “And congratulations - you had everyone fooled.”
“It’s been hard,” You conceded, “Sometimes during hard cases, it was slightly too hard, but we’ve gotten through it.”
“Oh, you guys,” Penelope tilted her head to the side, “You’re too adorable.”
“And on that note,” You smiled, picking up your purse, “I think we should probably go.”
You said your goodbyes, and Aaron managed to get out his own through his uncharacteristic blushes and stutters, and you made your way out to Aaron’s car, hand in hand.
“Why did you come?” You asked him out of curiosity once he’d climbed into his side of the car.
“Honest answer?” He raised an eyebrow and you nodded, turning your body towards his, “Really, I saw that photo of you with the guy, and I didn’t even think about it. I just got in the car.”
“Oh, you were jealous,” You teased, poking his arm gently, “It’s okay, Hotchner, I’m all yours, anyway.”
“Good,” He leaned over the centre console, fingers gripping your chin and encouraging your face closer to his, “Because I’m all yours.”
Each of his kisses was a seal to his promise.
It was only in the morning, when you finally checked your phone after a night with Aaron, that you realised another photo had been snapped of you. One of you and Aaron walking out of the bar holding hands. Penelope had sent it to the group chat with the message ‘Mission finally successful.’
The group chat had barely shut up since, question after question rolling into your inbox.
You groaned, falling back into your pillow, where Aaron kissed a path from the tip of your middle finger to your cheek, smiling against your skin.
“If it makes you feel any better, Dave will stop bothering us about telling the truth now,” He mumbled into your neck, and you sighed, a smile on your face as you played with his hair.
“Very true, Hotchner. Just remember: it was your jealousy that got us into this mess, so you’re dealing with the questions we’re going to get.”
He laughed into your skin, an agreement.

Spencer Reid x hotchner’s daughter!Reader
Summary: You (Hotch's daughter) and Spencer come from very different backgrounds and have different personalities. Despite your differences, you find yourselves drawn to each other, and you relationship develops over time.
Warnings: none
WC: 2.669
As Hotch's daughter you had always been a little different from your peers. You had grown up in a world of FBI agents and criminals, constantly surrounded by danger and excitement. Despite your privileged upbringing, you were a fiercely independent woman who refused to let your father's job define you.
One day, while attending a fancy fundraiser event with your father, you found yourself feeling out of place among the crowd of politicians and high society individuals. As you made your way through the ballroom, you couldn't help but notice a young woman who seemed to be struggling with her dress.
Without hesitation, you made your way over to her and offered to help fix the dress. As you knelt down to adjust the fabric, you struck up a conversation with the woman and soon discovered that she was an immigrant who had come to the United States to seek a better life for herself and her family.
Moved by her story, you spent the rest of the evening talking with her and introducing her to some of the other guests. By the end of the night, the woman was smiling and laughing, clearly having enjoyed herself.
As you left the event, you couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction that you had been able to help someone in need. Despite the glamorous setting and the fancy clothes, you knew that what really mattered was the connection you had made with the woman, and the impact you had been able to make in her life.
Those moments remind you that you are not just a privileged daughter of an FBI agent, but also a compassionate and empathetic individual who is driven by a desire to help others. You are not defined by your father's job or your social status, but by your own values and character.
Spencer, on the other hand, had a very different background. He had grown up as a child prodigy, never quite fitting in with his peers. He had been bullied and ostracized for his intelligence, and had always struggled with social interactions. But despite his struggles, he had always been driven by a deep sense of curiosity and a desire to understand the world around him.
Spencer's intelligence was both a gift and a curse. From a young age, he had shown a remarkable aptitude for learning and had quickly surpassed his peers in both knowledge and intellect. However, this gift had also made him an outsider, and he had always struggled to fit in with his peers.
One moment that exemplified this struggle occurred when he was in high school. It was a typical day in class, and the students were working on a group project. Spencer had been paired with three other students, but he quickly realized that he was the only one doing any work. The other students were content to chat and joke around while Spencer did all of the research and writing.
Frustrated and feeling alone, Spencer had approached his teacher after class to express his concerns. The teacher had listened sympathetically but had ultimately told him that he needed to learn to work with others and to accept that not everyone shared his level of intelligence or work ethic.
It was a defining moment for Spencer, as he realized that his intelligence could be both a blessing and a burden. From then on, he had made a conscious effort to work on his social skills and to try to connect with his peers, even as he continued to excel academically.
The two of you had first met at a crime scene, where Spencer was working as a forensic analyst for the FBI. You had been visiting your father, and had been drawn to the quiet, intense young man who seemed to be lost in thought as he examined the evidence.
You had just arrived at the crime scene with your father, Hotch, and the rest of his team. As always, you were fascinated by the work they did, but you were also used to it. You had grown up around FBI agents and their work, after all.
You watched as your father and the other agents went to work, but your attention was drawn to the young man standing off to the side, lost in thought as he examined the evidence.
You walked over to him, curious about the quiet intensity that seemed to surround him. "Hey," you said, trying to catch his attention. "What are you looking at?"
Spencer looked up at you, his eyes briefly meeting yours before he quickly looked back down at the evidence. "Oh, just some markings on the victim's skin. I'm trying to determine if they're significant."
You were immediately struck by his intelligence and focus. You had met plenty of FBI agents and analysts before, but none quite like Spencer.
As you stood there watching him work, you struck up a conversation. You talked about the case, about the victim, and about the evidence they had collected. Spencer's knowledge and insight were impressive, and you found yourself drawn to him.
Over the course of the investigation, you ran into Spencer more and more frequently. You found yourselves gravitating towards each other, drawn by a shared love of learning and a deep curiosity about the world around you.
As your conversations deepened, you discovered that Spencer was not just intelligent, but kind and thoughtful as well. He spoke with a gentleness that belied the sharpness of his mind, and you found yourself falling for him more with each passing day.
Looking back on that first meeting, you realized that it was the start of something special. It was the beginning of a journey that would lead you to discover a deep intellectual connection and a love that would endure through all the challenges that life would throw your way.
Over time, you began to run into each other more and more frequently, at crime scenes and at the FBI headquarters. Despite your different personalities and backgrounds, you found yourselves drawn to each other. You spent long hours discussing everything from philosophy to literature, and discovered a deep intellectual connection that neither of you had ever experienced before.
It had been a few months since your first encounter with Spencer, and you had been working on a separate case when you accidentally ran into him again at the FBI headquarters. You were on your way to meet your father, and as you turned a corner, you almost collided with Spencer, who had been walking in the opposite direction.
"Hey, watch it!" he exclaimed, almost dropping the stack of files he was holding.
"I'm so sorry," you replied, feeling embarrassed. "I wasn't paying attention."
"It's okay," he said with a small smile. "I should have been watching where I was going too."
You both stood there for a moment, awkwardly shifting your weight from one foot to the other.
"So, what brings you here?" he finally asked, breaking the silence.
"I'm meeting my dad for lunch," you replied. "What about you?"
"Just working on some case files," he said, gesturing to the stack in his arms. "Nothing too exciting."
You both fell into an easy conversation, discussing the latest book you had read and your thoughts on a recent philosophical debate that had been making headlines.
Despite the chaos and danger that surrounded your work, talking with Spencer felt like a breath of fresh air. You felt your heart rate slow and your mind calm as you bounced ideas off of each other.
As you said goodbye and parted ways, you couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation for the next time you would run into Spencer. You felt like you had discovered a kindred spirit, someone who understood you on a level that few others could.
As your relationship developed, you began to learn more about each other's lives. You shared stories about your childhood, and Spencer opened up about his struggles with anxiety and his love of science fiction. You discovered that, despite your differences, you had a lot in common, and began to fall in love.
As your relationship with Spencer grew closer, you found yourselves spending more and more time together outside of work. You went on hikes, visited museums, and explored the city together. You found that you had a lot in common, and your conversations grew deeper and more intimate.
One evening, you were sitting on the couch in Spencer's apartment, flipping through a book on quantum mechanics while he worked on his laptop. It was a comfortable silence, one that you had grown used to in each other's company.
Suddenly, Spencer spoke up. "Hey, do you want to watch a movie?"
You smiled. "Sure, what do you want to watch?"
Spencer shrugged. "I don't know, something sci-fi maybe? I've been meaning to watch Blade Runner again."
"Blade Runner it is," you said, getting up to grab the DVD from Spencer's collection.
As you settled back onto the couch, Spencer leaned over and rested his head on your shoulder. You felt your heart skip a beat at the unexpected gesture, and then relaxed into it, letting your cheek rest against his hair.
"Thanks for being here," Spencer said quietly.
You squeezed his hand. "Always. You know that."
Spencer shifted, turning his head to look up at you. His eyes were intense, and you felt a flutter in your stomach at the way he was looking at you.
"I'm glad we met," he said softly. "I don't know where I'd be without you."
You smiled, feeling warmth spread through you. "Same here. I can't imagine not having you in my life."
The moment stretched between you, and then Spencer leaned in, his lips meeting yours in a gentle, sweet kiss. You responded eagerly, wrapping your arms around his neck and deepening the kiss.
As you pulled back, breathless, Spencer rested his forehead against yours. "I love you," he said.
"I love you too," you replied, knowing that this was just the beginning of your journey together.
And then, to your surprise, he let out a little laugh.
"Oh god, Hotch is going to kill me," he said, half-jokingly.
You couldn't help but laugh too, feeling a sudden sense of relief at his words. It was true that your father will hesitant about your relationship with Spencer, but his opinion will slowly started to shift as he’ll see how happy you are together, right?
"I don't think he'll be too mad," you said, grinning up at Spencer.
He smiled back, his eyes sparkling with joy.
"I hope not," he said. "Because I don't think I could stay away from you, even if he did."
You felt your heart skip a beat at his words, and leaned in for another kiss. As your lips met again, you knew that you were exactly where you were meant to be - in Spencer's arms.
But your relationship was not without its challenges. Hotch, as a protective father, was initially hesitant about the relationship. He worried that Spencer's quirks and vulnerabilities would make him an easy target for the criminals his daughter's work put you in contact with. But over time, he came to see that Spencer's intelligence and dedication were a huge asset, and began to support your relationship.
You had been dating Spencer for a few weeks now, and things were going great between the two of you. However, you knew that you needed your father's blessing to truly make things official. So, one evening, you decided to sit down with both Hotch and Spencer to have a conversation.
"Dad, Spencer and I need to talk to you," you said, as you all sat down in the living room.
Hotch looked up from his book, a slight furrow in his brow. "What is it?" he asked.
You took a deep breath. "Spencer and I have been seeing each other for a few weeks now," you said, looking at Spencer for support.
Spencer nodded, looking a bit nervous. "Yes, sir. I care about your daughter very much, and I wanted to ask for your blessing to continue seeing her."
Hotch's expression softened slightly. "Spencer, I have to admit, I was a bit hesitant about your relationship with my daughter at first. But I've come to see that you're a good man, and that you make her happy. That being said, I do have some concerns."
Spencer nodded, looking intently at Hotch. "I understand, sir. And I'm happy to answer any questions you have."
Hotch leaned forward, his gaze steady. "The world we live in can be dangerous. You know that better than anyone, working for the FBI. I worry that your vulnerabilities could put her in harm's way."
Spencer nodded slowly. "I understand your concern, sir. But I also believe that my strengths - my intelligence, my attention to detail - can help keep her safe. And I promise to do everything in my power to protect her."
Hotch looked thoughtful for a moment, then nodded. "Okay. I trust you, Spencer. You have my blessing to continue seeing my daughter."
You let out a breath you didn't realize you were holding and smiled at Spencer, feeling a huge weight lifted off your shoulders. Spencer breathed a sigh of relief and smiled back at you.
"Thank you, sir," he said, looking genuinely grateful.
Hotch gave a small smile. "Just take care of her, Spencer. She means everything to me."
Spencer nodded, looking determined. "I will, sir. I promise."
After Hotch gave his blessing, the team decided to celebrate by going out to a local bar. Spencer was initially hesitant, but you convinced him to come along.
As soon as you arrived, you were greeted by the loud music and the lively crowd. You immediately felt at home, chatting and laughing with the other members of the team.
Spencer, on the other hand, seemed uncomfortable and out of place.
You noticed that he was standing awkwardly by the bar, sipping his drink and trying to blend in with the crowd. You walked over to him and put your arm around his shoulder, trying to make him feel more at ease.
"Hey, you okay?" you asked, looking up at him.
Spencer nodded nervously. "I'm fine, I'm just not used to these kinds of places."
You smiled reassuringly. "Well, you're with me now, and I promise to keep you safe."
Spencer's face lit up at your words, and he leaned down to give you a quick kiss on the forehead.
The rest of the night went by in a blur of drinks, music, and laughter. You found yourself dancing with the other members of the team, and Spencer even managed to loosen up a bit and join in.
As the night wore on, you felt a sense of contentment and happiness settle over you.
You looked around at the team, all of whom seemed to be genuinely happy for you and Spencer.
Even Hotch, who had initially been hesitant about the relationship, seemed to have accepted it for good. He came over to you and Spencer at one point, and clapped Spencer on the back.
"Remember, you take care of her, Reid," he said with a smile.
Spencer nodded, a look of determination on his face. "I will, sir."
As the night drew to a close, you felt a sense of gratitude towards your team. They had accepted you and Spencer, quirks and all, and had made you feel like a part of their family.
You knew that, with their support, you and Spencer could overcome any obstacle that came your way.
Despite the challenges you faced, you and Spencer remained committed to each other. You continued to explore the world together, sharing your passions and your struggles as you built a life together.
You may have come from different backgrounds, but you had found a deep connection that transcended all of that, and you knew that you were meant to be together.

Bigger Than The Whole Sky | Part Four: Forever and Always
Tumblr media
Aaron Hotchner x Reader
Summary: desk duty, new co-workers, bonding with Jack, decorating Juliette's room, baby showers and unwanted guests... the second half of this pregnancy is full of surprises.
Warnings: emotional chats, canon typical violence (a young girl passes away), implied smut, angst, fighting (not Aaron and Y/N), birth talk
Word Count: 9.1k
Masterlist
Tumblr media
another 8 weeks blew by and suddenly she’s halfway through this pregnancy and her clothes really don’t fit as well and she’s extra tired. She was right about being sicker in the second trimester… man, did it ever suck having constant acid reflux and feeling like she was on the edge of throwing up every few hours if she wasn’t constantly eating snacks… and eating snacks all the time made her grow not just in the stomach region. Her thighs are getting bigger, her ass is firmer and her tits are fucking huge. Her face is rounder, her hands and feet are swollen, and she’s uncomfortable almost all day long.
It’s rough but worth it.
She’s sitting at her desk, reclined in her chair and her feet are up on a box of files. She has a ginger ale and a sleeve of crackers open as she works away. Today's the first day of official desk duty and up until 20 minutes ago, she thought there wouldn’t be a real case. Derek rushed from his office over to Aarons, they shut the door to talk and the Cruz showed up too.
“Hey…” a familiar voice makes her presence known behind her.
Y/N sits up straighter and turns to her, “Tara, you made it!” She stands up and opens her arms for a hug that Tara graciously accepts, she holds her close for a moment, not too tight, she doesn’t want to press against her bump too hard.
“Sorry it took so long, trying to find my work attire in my boxed-up mess of an apartment took a while,” she explains. Moving from San Fransisco to D.C. wasn’t easy, but she made it.
“That’s fine, we haven’t been busy… but I think something’s happening,” she points up at Aaron's office. “Derek and Cruz are in there right now, but it doesn’t look like they’re rushing to solve anything so, let’s get you introduced to everyone.”
Y/N walks her around most the desks, she introduces Tara a handful of times to all the people who work in the bullpen and Tara shakes everyone's hand. However, the only person who wouldn’t shake her hand isn’t actually in today.
“And this is Dr. Reid's desk, he’s our resident genius,” she says as they arrive at it. “He’s handling some family issues but he will be back next week and he’s only a phone call away if the team needs him.”
“I’ve heard about him, I’m excited to get to know him.”
“Just up these stairs is JJ’s desk,” she explains, slowly taking the steps one at a time and holding the railing. She’s been off balance a lot lately and the last thing she wants is to fall.
Once she’s up the stairs, she knocks on JJ’s open door, “Hey, Tara’s here.”
“Oh, hi,” JJ stands up, also pregnant but carrying her baby a lot lower.
Y/N never used to believe that you could tell what gender a woman was carrying just based on bump and then she got pregnant with a girl while JJ had a boy… their bumps are so different. JJ carries wide and low while Y/N’s bump is like a perfect ball under her shirt.
“What’s in the water here?” Tara teases, shaking JJ’s hand. “Thank god I moved here alone, I wouldn’t want to be next.”
“The lady I replaced, Kate, also left to have a baby,” Y/N teases.
“Oh wow, I guess it’s your age group though, all my friends were pregnant in their 30 too,” Tara shares. “I’d much rather be a stepmom someday.”
“It’s really rewarding,” Y/N admits with a sweet smile. “Aaron’s son is the sweetest kid.”
“He gets it from his dad,” Tara teases, knowing Aaron only through a few interviews and phone calls, she only knows this happy, new Aaron. The Aaron that’s overjoyed with his perfect family and not overstressed with work.
After JJ, they head out of the bullpen and down to Penelope’s office where Luke is sitting with her, trying to flirt his way into her heart.
“Hey, guys,” she cuts into their conversation, “our new member is in, this is Tara and Tara this is Luke Alvez and our tech girlie, Penelope.”
“Nice to meet you,” she shakes Luke's hand first and then Penelope pulls her in for a hug, “oh, hi,” she melts into Penelope’s arms.
“Welcome, I’ve heard so many wonderful things, I can’t wait to work with you,” Penelope says, still holding Tara close.
“Same here,” Tara says as she pulls back.
“Speaking of, do you know what Hotch, Morgan and Cruz are all talking about?” Y/N asks. “They’ve been in Aaron’s office for a while now.”
“There’s a presidential threat,” Penelope explains. “They’ve been asked for a consult but I don’t think it’s a case for us.”
“Oh, okay,” Y/N’s surprised. That’s a new one. She never thought they’d have to consult on a presidential threat, but it must be a big one. “Tara, I can show you to your office now?”
“I get a whole office?” She’s surprised.
Y/N nods, “We thought since you’ll still be interviewing the serial killers, you’d want a space to talk on the phone without prying ears.”
“Sounds good to me,” Tara exclaims, visibly happy with her choice to join the unit. “I’ll see you guys out there,” she says as she follows Y/N back out of Penelope's space and down the hall.
She brings her back into the bullpen just as JJ is leaving her office and rushing over to Aarons, she sees Y/N and Tara and shouts over to them. “We have a 10-year-old girl who was just abducted from a park in Wauwatosa!”
“Shit, okay,” Y/N stops dead in her tracks. “I’ll continue the tour later… Anderson,” she shouts over to him. “Can you grab Penny and Luke, and tell them to meet us in the briefing room? Tara and I will meet them there,” she orders and pulls Tara towards the other set of stairs towards the round table.
Y/N cleans the older files off the table and powers up the presentation board, she logs onto the computer it’s attached to and searches the system for abductions in Wauwatosa so they can read over the file quickly while the plane gets ready. CARD already has a case going with everything they know. She loads it up and starts reading over it as fast as she can with Tara doing the same as she takes a seat at the round table.
The team is quick to fill the room, they discuss what little they know and then JJ gets a call from the pilot to tell her that they’re ready to board. “Okay, we gotta go,” JJ says as she hangs up.
Derek, Tara, Luke and JJ all rush out the door to grab their things while Aaron takes a minute to say goodbye to Y/N. He wraps her up in a hug and cups her face in one hand as he pulls back, his other hand gently rubs on her belly, “I love you, both of you.”
“Be safe,” she begs. “Come home to us.”
He nods, leaning in to kiss her. He breathes her in, holding her in a kiss and then just as she thinks he’s pulling away for good, he kisses her again and again. She can feel everyone watching them through the briefing room window, but she doesn’t really care. She keeps kissing him, smiling slightly, she loves how affectionate he gets before he has to go. When he does eventually pull away, he sighs. “I love you. Now, you call me if you need me, okay?”
“Okay,” she can’t help but smile. “Go save the day, superman.”
He hesitates to keep going but he knows the plane is waiting for them and he still has to grab his bag from his office. But fuck it, he thinks. He pulls her in for one last kiss and then he’s off.
She follows him out of the briefing room, he’s a lot faster than she is so he's leaps ahead of her, “I can text Jess from the plane or you can get Jack tonight?”
“I can get him,” she offers, breathing heavily from walking so fast. “All his things are at our house now so it’ll be easier if I get him.”
At his office door, she watches him pick up his bag and search the room for his phone. He pats his side to ensure his guns are still there and pulls up his pant leg to check the other gun. He’s all good to go, so he lets out a sigh, his shoulders drop and his brow goes up as if to say, “I guess this is goodbye.”
“Call me when you can, I love you,” she says one last time, stepping out of the door frame so he can squeeze past.
He runs his free hand over her stomach as he moves past her, “I love you—”
“Hotch, man, we get it, you’re in love, lets goooo,” Morgan says from the double glass doors, the teams already in the elevator, on their way down to the shuttle car that will take them to the runway.
“Get going,” she scoots him along.
“I’m coming, I’m coming,” he complains as he runs down the little steps and heads off after Morgan. He turns back to her just before leaving the room, he blows her a kiss and then he’d gone.
She just smiles, shaking her head, everyone is watching her with the same sweet look. It’s nice to see Aaron like this, having their boss in love has been a blessing, they appreciate this. He’s not as much of a hard ass anymore.
“Back to work,” she teases everyone.
She lets out a sigh, it’s weird when he’s not around. And instead of going back to sitting at her desk, she grabs her snacks and makes her way down to Penny’s office. Where she will stay for the remainder of the day.
Jack’s school ends at 3:20 but afterwords he has his activity program. It goes on all year long, they spend the first 45 minutes working on homework and then the rest of the afternoon playing some kind of sport or game until their parents come to pick them up. It stays open until a quarter after 6, ensuring that the children have a safe place to be while their parents finish the work day.
A few months ago, Aaron went into the school and changed Jack's 2nd emergency contact from Will to Y/N. They bumped will down to the 3rd spot, but as long as Y/N’s going to be at home either pregnant or watching their daughter, she will be available to watch Jack.
She arrives at the school around 5:30, makes her way inside to the gym and finds the sign-out table quite easily. “Hi, I’m Y/N Y/L/N, Jack Hotchner’s step-mom, I’m here to sign him out.”
“Oh okay, one sec,” the girl starts flipping through sheets of paper and lands on Jack's file. She can’t be older than 17, she’s just a high school student getting her volunteer hours working with the elementary school's activity program. “Can I just see your id?”
“Sure,” she quickly pulls out her FBI badge cause it’s quicker than getting her license from her purse.
“Oh wow,” she can’t believe she’s meeting an agent. “Isn’t Jack's dad an agent too?”
She nods, “he is, he’s away on a case.”
“Are you not allowed to go when you’re pregnant,” she asks, referring to her baby bump.
“You’re allowed, I just don’t feel comfortable,” she shares with a small smile. “Can I go in and get him?”
“Yep, um, here,” she opens the door for Y/N and all the kids look to see who it is.
“Mom!” Jack calls out, running to her side. “What are you doing here?”
He hasn’t ever called her mom to her face before. She tears up a bit but hugs him back, “Your dads on a case so I thought I’d come to get you and we could go get dinner?”
“Can we go to McDonalds?” He asks, “I really want some chicken nuggets.”
She laughs, “Yeah that sounds delicious, go get your bag.”
It doesn’t take long for him to say goodbye to everyone and get his things, she gets him loaded up into the car and he begs to sit in the passenger seat beside her. “Not until you’re 13,” she reminds him and he sulks a bit.
“I just like sitting beside you.”
“Then we’ll get a booth at McDonalds and you can sit with me there, okay?”
He drops it then and simply puts on his seatbelt while she gets in the front seat. She asks him about school, and he asks where his dad is in the country, they share little stories and laugh a bit while she drives. She always dreamed about being a mom, about these little moments with her kid… having them with Jack is even better.
She takes him inside the restaurant to order, the nice lady taking their order offers to bring them their food when she sees how pregnant she is and so they go find a seat. Jack sits right beside her, snuggles into her side and places his hand on her belly, “how long until she’s here?”
“She’ll be born sometime in September,” she reminds him again. “Do you want to know what we decided to name her?”
“Can I?” His eyes light right up.
She nods, “We kept it a secret for a bit just to see if we really like it and we do, it’s definitely her name… we’re going to call her Juliette.”
“Juliette,” he swoons, loving it. He kisses her belly again, “I love you Juliette!”
She just smiles, loving where she is in life. “Your dad and I wanted to ask you for some help with her middle name.”
“Really?” He looks up at her with wide eyes, he can’t believe it.
She nods, “She’s your baby too. I want you to feel as loved as she is, I would hate for you to feel like we’re replacing you or that your dad has a new family. We’re a family all together.”
He smiles, really appreciating that she wants to include him so much. “Can I think about it?”
“Yeah, take your time,” she doesn’t mind at all.
When their food arrives, they break into their chicken nuggets and talk all about the new comic book he’s been reading. He reminds her a lot of Spencer when he starts talking about his super hero’s, it’s cute.
“What if we named her Juliette Hale Hotchner?” He asks.
“Hale,” she thinks it over, it sounds cute. “Like Haley?”
He nods, “Cause then she’s still in the family.”
It makes her heart ache for him, there’s no way she can say no to this. “Yeah. Yeah, that’s her name. Juliette Hale sounds perfect.”
He gets so giddy, bouncing in the seat, “I can’t wait to meet her.”
She takes her phone out and starts to look up the meaning of the name, just to see what else it could mean. Her heart almost stops when she see’s it, “Oh my god, Jack look, Hale literally means Hero.”
“It does?” He can’t believe it either. “What does my mom's name mean?”
“Hold on,” she says as she searches it. “Hay cleaner, hay meadow, wise one and hero…”
“thats cool, my mom was a hero,” he says proudly.
She searches his name next, “Your name means god is gracious, so you’re a god and your moms a hero.”
“What about Dad?”
She looks up 'Aaron' and smiles when she sees it. “Teacher and Mountain of Strength, very true.”
“He is strong,” Jack agrees. “Is that why you like him?”
“No, I like him because he’s soft,” she shares with a sweet smile. “My last husband wasn’t nice to me and when I told your dad that, he just wanted to protect me. He gave me a hug, he helped me clean up my bloody nose, he got me a good divorce lawyer, he was my best friend and I fell in love with him.”
“I’m really glad you fell in love with him.”
“Me too,” she wraps her arm around him and holds him close. “I love you too, you know.”
“I know,” he snuggles in close. “I love you, too.”
She gets him all tucked into bed that night, she kisses his little head and she heads back downstairs to finish locking up for the night. She cleans up the living room, sets the alarm and starts heading back to the stairs when her phone starts to ring in her purse.
It’s Aaron.
She answers with a smile, “Hey, handsome.”
“Hey,” he answers, he sounds sad.
“How's the case?”
“She died. I had to inform her parents… but we caught the sick fuck who did it,” he explains, his sadness turning to anger. “Is Jack still up?”
“No, I’m sorry, he just fell asleep,” she explains. “I’m so sorry Arron, are you okay?”
“Yeah,” he sucks in a deep breath and sighs. “It just sucks. We’re going to fly back in the next hour, I should be home around 2 or 3.”
“Wake me up when you get in?” She asks, “Please? I miss you and I have something nice to tell you.”
“Oh, can’t you tell me now?”
She shakes her head, “mm-mm, sorry. I rather tell you in person.”
“I see how it is,” he teases right back. “Well, we’ve gotta drive to the airport now so I’ll let you go. Try and get some sleep before I get in, yeah?”
“You too. The files can wait. Have a nap on the plane,” she says, more of an order than a suggestion.
“I’ll try. I love you.”
“I love you too, bye.”
“Bye,” he has the last word and then he hangs up.
She sighs, the silence in the house is weird. She turns all the lights out but one lamp by the front door and the porch light. All the doors are locked, the alarm is on, and he has his keys and knows the code so she heads upstairs. She stops by Jack's door to listen in, making sure he’s still asleep and then she continues on to her room. She changes, puts cream on her belly and grabs a parenting book.
She gets maybe 3 pages in when she slips into sleep, sitting up against the pillows and her lamp light still on.
Aaron gets in around 3, like he said he would, the alarm goes off momentarily but he disarms it and resets it as soon as he can. He turns out the lamp light, leaves his bags by the door and heads right upstairs. He could see her bedroom light was still on from the street, he hoped she was asleep and not still awake and waiting for him.
He tiptoes down the hallway and slowly pushes her bedroom door open. She’s sound asleep. Mouth open, book discarded on the bed, she’s out.
He carefully sits on the side of the bed, he runs his hand over her arm, “lovey…” he whispers, watching her slowly wake. She blinks a few times and then she smiles when she notices it’s him. “Hi.”
“Hi,” she whispers back.
He leans in and kisses her a few times, it’s only been 16 hours since he saw her last but that doesn’t matter. He missed her. She wraps her arms around him as best she can and hugs him, breathing him in, she missed him too.
When he pulls back he smiles, “Let me change and we can snuggle up and talk, okay?”
“Okay,” she agrees.
He heads into the closet and opens his safe, he puts his guns away first and locks them up. He takes his suit off and hangs it up next, he finds a new t-shirt and slips it on as well as a new pair of boxers. When he returns she’s turned the lights out and she’s laying on her side, facing his side of the bed, so he quickly gets in with her.
Once he’s in the bed, he sighs, he loves their bed. He loves her. He’s missed being home even if he was only gone a day. “How are you feeling?”
“Tired,” she slightly laughs. “You?”
“Same… but I still want to talk to you.”
“Good, 'cause I have big news,” she teases. “I told Jack her name tonight, we went to McDonald's for dinner and he was asking about when she’d be here… I told him he could pick her middle name too.”
“Oh?”
“He picked out Hale,” she explains, carefully watching his face in the darkness to make sure he’s okay with it too. “It means hero, but he said it also keeps his mom in the family.”
Aaron stays silent for a moment and then reaches out to hold his hand over her belly, “Juliette Hale… I like it.”
“It’s kinda perfect,” she admits.
“Our family is perfect,” he whispers, clearly a little teary. “I love you.”
“I love you, too,” she replies, leaning in to capture his lips against her own.
Another 5 weeks have come and gone, over a dozen new cases too.
Spencer’s back finally, his mom in a new care facility over in D.C., Tara and Luke are so settled in it feels like they’ve always been here. Their little work family was doing great. JJ’s about to hit 30 weeks pregnant, she’s in the home stretch and they’ve picked a name. Michael. The whole office has bets on the day he’ll arrive and how big he’ll be. And Derek's moving into a house with his girlfriend… everyone is so happy, it’s nice to see.
The team’s away in Idaho, wrapping up paperwork and interviewing the latest unsub before they catch a flight back home. It wasn’t a hard case, nothing they haven’t seen a million times before.
She’s sitting at her desk on her computer, searching through Pinterest for nursery ideas. She’s absolutely transfixed on this wallpaper of watercolour flowers, she wants the room to be light and pretty, not too crazy, and something she’ll like as she grows up. She pins a bunch of pictures of different designs, even rooms with painted, wainscotting around the room and the wallpaper just on the top 3rd. She loves how it looks, it’s so cute… and then she sees one of the walls has wooden letters that spell out the name Juliet. Not the same spelling they’re going for, but similar. She’s completely sold now.
She adds it to her board “Juliette Room” and starts to scroll through it, not realizing Penelope is coming up to stand behind her.
“Oh my goodness, is that the baby room idea?”
“Oh,” she jumps in her seat a bit, “yeah… yeah, it is. I’m going to start ordering things so we can have it done before she gets here. Granted she’s not going to be sleeping in there for a while, I still want to have it done for when she comes home.”
She scrolls all the way up to the top to show her everything and that’s when Penelope sees the name. “Juliette,” she swoons, her heart fluttering in her chest. “Oh, that’s perfect!”
“You think so?”
“I know so!! It fits so well with Jack and Hotchner too! Oh, I can just imagine how cute she’s going to be.”
“If you want to put her name on the baby shower invitation you can? We’re fine with people knowing it, just not the full name yet, it’s a surprise.”
“Can I know?” She begs, leaning in close. “I can keep a secret, I promise?”
She smiles, knowing that even if it got out to the team it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. “Her middle name was picked by Jack… he asked if it could be Hale. For his mom.”
Penelope’s hand jumps up to cover her mouth so she won’t cry, “oh my gosh?”
“I know, he asked me that in a McDonalds and I had to do everything I could to not sob, but then we found out Hale also means Hero so… it really fits her,” Y/N explains. “She’s our little hero, Juliette.”
“Do you think I could do the baby shower with the same theme? Baby in bloom?” She asks, gears already turning in her mind.
“That would be nice,” she agrees with a big smile. “You don’t have to go too crazy with it, you know? I’m okay with it just being here with you guys.”
“Mm-mm, can’t do that,” Penelope teases. “I’ve already gotten Aaron to pass me all the addresses of your family and Dave has agreed to let us use his backyard and I’ve rented tables and chairs, I just couldn’t decide on a theme but now that I have I can start decorating.”
“Pen—
“You’ve waited almost a decade for this, I’m going all out,” she puts her foot down. “You deserve a big party because you’re going to be the most amazing mom in the world. That should be celebrated.”
She could cry, “Thank you, Penny.”
Derek and Luke come over on the day she hits 30 weeks exactly. Everything she ordered for the baby room had arrived  and there was no way on earth she was going to be able to help Aaron put it all together or hang the wallpaper. So her strong, manly co-workers offered to come over and help. Both their girlfriends came too.
Savannah and Lisa both brought some food, making sure the boys were fed and Y/N had something nice to eat as well. From the moment Lisa walked in with a tinfoil-covered dish, she made the house smell so delicious, Y/N couldn’t wait to dig in. Evan Jack, the ever-picky eater, wants to try it.
The guys upstairs end up getting the wallpaper on the walls before they come down for some food as well. Y/N takes it as her chance to go upstairs and look at the work they did. When she enters the room she’s amazed. It’s going to be exactly what she imagined. Derek is going to come back tomorrow and put the wainscotting on the lower half of the walls and then she can paint them. She’s going for muted tones, water-colour flowers on top and a light sage on the wainscotting. The crib is golden, so is the Juliette sign that she’s going to hang over it. Her dresser is white and pink with golden nobs, and instead of the green rocking chair she picked out at Ikea, she got a floral upholstered chair for middle-of-the-night feedings.
Her favourite feature, however, is the framed saying she found. “Even after the hardest storm, the flowers still find a way to bloom.”
It was going to be perfect.
She stands there, looking around at the boxes, the pile of wood and the few cans of paint, in awe of what was to come. Holding her belly in her hands, she really can’t believe just how fast this has all happened. This was how it was always supposed to be. Part of her wishes she could go back in time and meet Aaron right away… the rest of her knows that wasn’t supposed to work.
Tumblr media
Aaron comes up behind her, wrapping his arms around her, startling her slightly. He holds his hands over her own, on her belly, resting his chin on her shoulder. “Daydreaming?”
She hums, “Yeah… I’m so happy.”
He kisses her just below her ear, “I’m happy you’re happy. That’s all I ever wanted.”
“Knocking me up was the best thing you ever did,” she teases him.
He nibbles on her ear lightly, “You do look very good carrying my child.”
“We have guests downstairs,” she reminds him.
“I know,” he sulks, kissing her neck for a few more moments before they run the risk of getting caught. He sighs, “I love you 10 million times more than I ever thought I could and it’s only getting more intense as the days go on.”
She turns around to face him, her bump keeping her from getting as close to him as she wants to be, she cups his face in her hands, “I know, believe me, I know. I’ve never felt so loved in my whole entire life. I didn’t think this amount of love was possible… but here I am, in my daughters' room with the love of my life.”
“And to think you wanted a boy?” He teases.
“I have one,” she reminds him. “He’s downstairs stuffing his face with his new favourite meal… I’m going to have to get Lisa to leave the recipe for me.”
Aaron leans in and kisses her. This is all either of them ever wanted.
The baby shower is planned for Sunday, August 13th, a month and 3 before she’s due. Penelope sends out all the invitations in June, including one for Peter's mom with explicit requests that Peter doesn’t know. That’s the only thing she doesn’t want. She never wants to see him again. After nearly 10 months without him, she feels clean, free, and safe again.
Life is peaceful. Life is good. She’s excited for the future again.
The baby shower is only a few weeks away, she hasn’t seen anything other than the invitations. Knowing Penelope, it’s going to be insane. She can’t wait to see everything she’s ordered and how she’s going to decorate and even the games she has planned. It’s going to be so nice to see her family again, so far everyone in her immediate family is coming. She hasn’t seen them in a while.
Her only real job is finding a dress to wear to the party. That’s the hardest part. With her ever-growing stomach and the heat this summer, she has no idea what to get. She knows she wants something floral to match the theme and she wants a sun dress but finding the two together is hard. Maternity shopping also sucks.
It’s actually Aaron who ends up finding her a dress.
He comes home from a case with a shopping bag in his hand, he meets her in their bedroom and sets it down in front of her. “We had 2 hours before the plane would be ready so we went to get dinner as a team and the store next to the restaurant had these in the window.”
They were in LA for the most recent case. Of course, he found something there.
She carefully takes it out of the bag, peels the tissue paper off it and gasps, “Aaron?”
“It’s perfect, isn’t it?”
She holds it up to her body, it’s the perfect size, it’s the right colour and the flowers match almost exactly to the wallpaper and the chair in Juliette's room. She can’t believe it. It’s exactly what she wanted.
“How much was it?”
“Don’t worry about it,” he pushes the question to the side. “It’s part 1 of your push present.”
“You know about push presents?” She can’t believe it.
He nods, “Penelope has given me a run down…”
“You really don’t have to get me anything, having your baby is gift enough for me,” she explains. “I mean it. All I wanted was a baby, you gave me that and more… I mean, now I have a stepson and a house and you. I’m good.”
“Yes, well, I’m going to spoil you regardless.”
“Aaron,” she stares him down. “I don’t want you to go too crazy, okay?”
“No promises,” he teases. “Do you want to try on the dress?”
“You just want to see me naked,” she knows him too well. But she starts to stand regardless. 30 weeks pregnant now, it’s hard to do most things on her own. “A little help?”
He helps her take her shirt off, then her pants. He gets them down to her ankles, kneeling there in front of her, he kisses her stomach gently. He feels up her legs, unshaven as it’s hard to do everything with a belly this big. But Aaron loves it. He loves everything about her.
Back on his feet, he helps her put her dress on and moves her towards the mirror, “Look at you… this dress was made for you.”
“Was it?” She asks, teasing him. “Are you sure you just found it? You didn’t have someone make it for me?”
“I would have, but no, I actually found it. You can look up the store, it’s Daisy Maternity in LA,” he explains.
“I believe you,” she smiles at him through the mirror. “No can you you help me out of this? I don't want to ruin this before the party next month.”
“Arms up,” he instructs, helping her lift the dress up and off her, he rests it on their bed gently and then returns to her. He runs his hand down her arms, he cups her belly and pulls her in closer. His chest is flush against her back, and he smirks at her through the mirror. “isn’t Jack at a friend's house?”
“He is…”
Aaron unclips her bra with one hand and pushes the straps off her shoulders, kissing her there instead. “you’re so pretty.”
“If you say—
He grips her jaw and stares at her through the mirror, making her look at herself too, “you are beautiful.”
“You’ve gotta move my dress off the bed before you fuck me,” she teases.
He back away, picks up the dress and takes it into their closet where he slips it onto a hanger and places it on the rack with the rest of her dresses. When he gets back, she’s put her shirt back on and she’s sitting in bed with her maternity book. “Really?”
“what my feet hurt?” She complains. “Believe me, I would love for you to ravish me right now but I don’t have hardly enough energy.”
“So let me do all the work?” He suggests, climbing onto the bed and laying down between her legs. She can barely see him with her belly in the way.
She just laughs at him, she lets him push his legs further apart and then lifts her hips so that he can take her underwear off.
This was going to be a long night.
On the day of her baby shower, she gets all dolled up and by the time her dress is on, she’s exhausted. Aaron helps her down the stairs, they get her loaded up in the passenger seat of the SUV with Jack in the backseat and they don’t move. “What are—”
“I have a present for you,” he explains, turning to her with a smile. “Jack helped me pick it out. “
“I did,” he pipes up, standing between their seats, leaning over to see his dad pull something out of his pocket.
It’s a tiny little box. One that a ring would come in. “Aaron?”
“I know we’ve never really talked about it… getting married again after everything we’ve gone through would be hard, but I still want you to wear my ring,” he explains, opening the box.
The ring is beautiful. A gold band with a heart-shaped ruby in the middle surrounded by little diamonds.
She laughs through the tears that drop down her cheeks. “Will it fit on my swollen fingers?”
He laughs too, “I’m not sure… there’s only one way to find out.” He takes the ring out of the box and she extends her left hand to him, letting him put it on her ring finger as far as it will go.
It makes it to her second knuckle and not much further. “Well… I guess we’ll have to wait till after the baby—
“Here,” she takes it and slides it onto her pinkie. It fits perfectly. “I’ll just move it over when my hands go back to normal.”
Aaron takes her hand in his and brings it to his lips, kissing her gently. “You’re mine forever and now everyone will know it long after the bump is gone.”
She stares at him, he can’t even joke about that with Jack standing behind them. “Aaron…”
He simply leans over and kisses her for real, Jack claps behind them, overly excited for this to be real. “Are you going to have a wedding?”
They pull back with smiles, at the same time saying “no.” they don’t need a wedding to make this real. The love they have for each other is real enough.
“But if we go to the courthouse one day, you and your sister can be our witnesses, okay?” She promises.
“You’ll be my best man,” Aaron assures him. “we’ll do it next year.”
“This day exactly,” she agrees. “An August anniversary will be nice.”
“And Jules will be old enough to sit through it… we might need to bring her godmother to hold her though,” Aaron teases. That’s another thing they have to announce today.
“Who’s her godmother?” Jack asks.
“Penelope and maybe one day Savannah,” she explains. “Cause Derek is her godfather, whoever he marries one day will be her other godmother.”
“Dereks also my godfather,” Jack cheers, loving that he shares another thing with his sister.
“So if anything ever happens to me and your dad one day, they’ll take care of you guys for us,” she makes sure he understands what that means.
“Nothing will happen,” Aaron assures him. “But every couple needs a backup plan.”
“Dad won’t let anything bad happen to us ever again,” Jack is confident.
“Me either,” she agrees. “Now get your seatbelt on, we can’t be late to our own party!”
He hurries to his seat and does up his buckle, Aaron waits until they’re all completely secure and then he backs out of their driveway. The drive to Dave's house isn’t long, it’s almost the same as their drive to work, seeing as Rossi and Gideon both bought houses close to Quantico at the height of their careers and Dave never left. He has a mansion on the water, it’s a perfect spot for all their parties and as they pull up… it’s the most beautiful spot for a baby shower, too.
There’s a big flower arch over the garden gate that they have to go through to get to the party. The entryway has a guest book with a Polaroid camera so each guest can take a selfie and stick it in the book. She takes a moment to flip through all the familiar faces she knows and loves, noticing they’ve all written something sweet to Juliette for her to read when she’s older. Maybe at her own baby shower one day.
When she walks in all eyes are on her. She’s hugged by her immediate family who she hasn’t seen in ages, they each touch her belly and can’t believe how far along she is. 34 weeks and a few days… she’s so close to the finish line.
Her family is ecstatic to meet Aaron, they huddle around him and ask him so many questions, giving Y/N the chance to look around at everything Penelope set up.
The food table is immaculate, and the cake she got has fake flowers on it and everything. Every little table for her guests has the most beautiful floral centrepieces and everyone has cute little drinks too. That’s when she notices there’s a bar and waiters and the whole thing has been catered. “Penelope?” She calls over to her. “I thought I said not to go crazy?”
“And I said this baby is going to have the best party ever,” Penelope reminds her. “Come sit.” She rushes over to her side and drags her over to her main table, “do you want a drink?”
“What do you have?”
“We have mom-osa’s… non-alcoholic fruity drinks named after you and the little one. Would you like the Y/N which is Sprite, raspberry lemonade and muddled raspberries or the Juliette which is a sparkling cider, ginger ale and pineapple juice?”
“Oh the Juliette sounds delicious, I think she’d like that one too,” she teases, holding her belly.
“One Juliette coming right up!”
Oh, how she can’t wait until Juliette is really here. She can’t wait to hold her and see her face and get to know her. Her personality, her quirks, her likes and dislikes… she wants to know if she’ll have Aaron's scowl or maybe she’ll share his and Jack's brown eyes? Is she going to be tall? Is she going to sleep well or stay up all night like her mom used to? There are so many possibilities and she can’t wait to learn each and every one about little Miss Juliette.
The party goes smoothly. They have food, they play games, and everyone places guesses on when her baby will be born and how big she’ll be. They have a race to see who can change a diaper the fastest, they give speeches and there’s even a little slide show of baby pictures that Penelope was able to get from Y/N’s parents and Sean, who makes an appearance as well.
It’s a wonderful reunion for so many of them. More fun than a wedding would’ve been, but it brought out the same crowd. The best part, Jess’s girlfriend is there to take pictures of everything. She gets group shots, solos, action shots, candid, you name it. It’s all going to be remembered for years to come.
Peter's mom is there. It’s not weird, either. She talks to Y/N’s family, shakes hands with Aaron’s side and she brought the most beautiful present. For years, she was making a blanket for what would’ve been her baby with Peter… its sat in a box for too long. It’s a beautiful gift. The first of many gifts she has to open.
The presents portion of the party is the best part. She unwraps all sorts of things from cute outfits to baby toys to a brand new stroller and even a playpen. She held off on getting a lot of things knowing that this was happening, and it’s a good thing because she’s not going to need to get much else. Her family covered it all for her.
She’s handed another present when she looks at the garden gate and sees an all too familiar face.
“What are you doing here?” She asks, standing up with her jaw dropped. Aaron is quick to his feet, standing in front of her like a shield.
Peter is standing at the gate, entering the party he wasn’t invited to with a smirk. He’s holding a gift in his hand.
“What is he doing here, Jane?” She asks Peters mom instead.
“I didn’t tell him, I promise!”
“she posted it on Facebook,” he announces as he gets closer. “She said she was going to her daughter in laws baby shower. I’m not stupid, I knew that meant you.”
“So you tracked down the address and showed up?” Aaron asks, heated already.
Derek is up and walking toward Peter, about to put his hand on his shoulder when Peter brushes him off. “Hey man, I’m just bringing her a present, who knows, it could be mine.”
“It’s not.” Aaron stands his ground. “Get out. Now.”
“Peter, leave, please,” Jane begs him, feeling awfully embarrassed.
“Here,” he passes the present to Derek, who takes it carefully. “I just wanted her to have something—
“You’re a fucking asshole,” she cries, she pushes Aaron out of the way and stares him down. “You could’ve given me a baby, you could’ve told me the truth but instead you lied to me for 10 fucking years! You made me think I was broken and not worthy of being a mom or being loved. But you’re the broken one! Something sick and twisted exists in your brain and you’re never, NEVER going to be as loved as I am now. You lost. You’re always going to lose. You’re a fucking loser.”
He just nods, taking it all, “wow,” he laughs. “Thanks for showing everyone what I put up with for 10 years.”
“GET OUT!” She screams, “I swear to god if I see you near me or my family again I will kill you. I’m not fucking kidding. Leave.”
Out of nowhere, Jack is standing in front of Peter, he kicks him in the balls and Peter falls to the floor. Jack kicks him a second time, in the face... “That’s for hurting my mom.”
“Jack,” Aaron runs over and swoops him up and moves him away from Peter.
She rushes over to them, brings Jack in for a hug and holds him there, “Thank you, baby, but you can’t go around kicking people.”
“He deserved it. He hit you,” Jack remembers from the few conversations they’ve had about her evil ex-husband.
Peter's nose is bleeding, he’s able to get back up to his feet and he laughs, “I’m going, I’m going… just, have a good life… that’s all I wanted to say. I didn’t come here to start shit, it’s just easy for me to turn mean, you know that.”
“I don’t care, just get out,” she begs this time. “Don’t make them drag you out. They will.”
Just like that, Luke and Spencer are standing with Derek and Aaron, all ready to get him out if they have to. Peter leaves without another word, heading out past the gate, Luke follows him, making sure he gets in his car and drives away.
She sighs, turning back to the crowd. “I’m so sorry about all that… um, we’re just going to go inside, you guys can start eating cake?”
“on it,” Penelope rushes over to the food table. “Who wants the first slice?”
Y/N rushes inside with Aaron and Jack, “I can’t believe that just happened.”
“I’m sorry,” Jack apologizes.
“No, buddy, don’t apologize… if you ever see him again, at your school or driving past the house, you come to get us or you call 911, okay? You can’t hit him again, but he’s not a safe man to be around,” she explains to him. “I may call you my little hero, but you can’t put yourself in harm's way for us.”
“She’s right but,” Aaron puts his hand out and high-fives Jack, smiling proudly. “You’re going to be a great big brother.”
“I just,” Jack starts talking then stops himself. Furrowing his brow in a way that makes him look exactly like his father. “I hate him. I had to.”
“I’m not mad at you,” she assures him. “I love you very much, thank you.”
He hugs her tight, sharing all his love with her. “Come on, let’s go back out there.”
Once they return, every eye is on them again. She gives them a pressed-lipped smile, “Sorry about that…”
“I’m sorry,” Jane apologizes, “I didn’t think he’d track me down and come here. I honestly don’t know him anymore. He’s not the boy I raised. He’s changed.”
“It’s okay,” she assures Jane. “Um… where’s the present he brought?”
Derek has it still, “I opened it already, just to make sure it was safe.”
“You can take the man out of the bomb squad,” Aaron teases, “thank you for that.”
“Anything for you guys,” he gives them a smile.
She takes the present from him and opens it, finding a couple outfits she bought when they started trying, thinking it would be good luck. She left them behind for a reason. Both because she didn’t want them and to make him deal with what he did to her. But now they’re back.
She holds them up for everyone to see, faking a smile, “It’s cute…”
She puts it back in the box and hands it to Penelope, leaning in close to her ear, “Can you make sure these go to goodwill or something?”
She nods, “of course.”
“While I have everyone's attention,” she starts to speak as she walks back over to her table, she raises her glass and looks out at everyone. “I wanted to thank a few of you… Jennifer, thank you for being pregnant at the same time as me. I don’t know how I would’ve done this alone, being able to complain and compare with you has been so nice.”
“It’s my pleasure,” JJ assures her, raising her glass to her as well.
“And Penelope, you’ve done such an amazing job with this party and taking care of me while everyone’s been away on cases. I love how you added all our pregnancy cravings to the office kitchen and you got me a comfy chair for your office, you’ve been my best friend these last few months that i’ve been stuck on office duty… there’s no one else I’d rather have watch my daughter if something ever happened to me. So, will you be her god-mother?”
“YES!” She squeals. “Oh my god, I love being a godmother, please? Oh, I can’t wait I’m going to spoil her every day of her life.” She wraps her arms around Y/N and holds her there for a moment. “I love you.”
“I love you, too,” she holds her back for a moment. When she pulls away, she turns to Derek. “But every kid gets two godparents, so Derek, would you like to be her other one?”
“Add that to the endless list of things I’d do for your family,” he smiles. “Of course.”
“Thank you for taking on the extra workload for me and Aaron, he’ll be back to work before you know it,” she teases.
Aaron nods with a smug smile on his face. “I’m going to love being home for 6 months, but I’ll be back. Maybe we can trade-off?”
Savannah laughs, “Maybe.”
“And I also want to thank Tara and Luke, you guys are the best replacements I could’ve hired,” she teases. “Seriously, ever since you’ve joined the team it’s been so much easier to catch bad guys, you’re making the world a better place for us to bring Juliette into.”
Everyone claps for the team then, all in agreement that what the BAU does is magic.
She holds her drink up one last time, “And to Dave, thank you for letting us use your house for this party. At least he doesn’t know where I live now.”
That gets a giggle out of the crowd, but they all take a drink after.
Jack stands on his chair, tapping a spoon off his glass like he’s seen in all the movies. “Can I say something?”
“Yeah, buddy, go for it,” Aaron supports him, keeping a hand behind his back so he doesn’t fall backwards.
“I just want to tell Y/N, my mom, that I love her,” he says with a smile. “And I love my sister and I’m so happy with my new family.”
“Oh Jack,” she swoons again. Reaching over for his hand. “You’re the sweetest boy in the world, I love how much you love me and your sister. You’re going to be the best big brother, I just know you’ll keep her safe.”
“We all saw just how far he’s willing to go,” Aaron teases, making everyone laugh again. “And we wanted to thank everyone who was invited for coming, thank you for making time to celebrate Y/N and her first baby. Thank you for making this special for them.”
JJ goes into labour at 37 weeks, just like everyone expected her to. She calls Y/N and Aaron to the hospital after her little guy is born, wanting them to meet him first and she knew what that also meant.
When they arrive, Spencer is already there with Henry, holding the tiny baby while JJ and Will watch on with awe.
“Hey,” she makes their presence known.
“Y/N, hi,” JJ welcomes her in, “sorry for calling so late.”
“It’s okay,” she really doesn’t mind. “How are you feeling?”
“I’m okay… it was a lot quicker than Henry’s birth so I wasn’t expecting that, they didn’t even have the opportunity to give me an epidural.”
“I’m so sorry,” she reaches out to touch her arm. “Did it hurt?”
She laughs, “Yeah… oh yeah it sucked.”
Y/N’s slightly scared. She’s always wanted a baby but she’s never been good with pain. She’s not ready but at the same time, she wants her baby as soon as possible. Being only 2 weeks behind JJ, she doesn’t have much time left, this baby is coming out one way or another and she just has to deal with it.
“Here, Spence, can you pass him to Y/N,” JJ asks. “Hold him, experience the joy and you’ll understand what women mean when they say the pain isn’t as noticeable once they have a baby in their arms.”
She carefully takes Michael in her arms, he’s so tiny. “Oh my god, he’s so cute?”
“She makes cute babies,” Will teases. “My sister's kids came out all purple and swollen, these guys, they’re perfect.”
“I’m sure Juliette will come out cute too,” JJ assures her. “I mean, Jack was too cute when he was born.”
“Where is Jack?” Henry asks.
“He’s with his aunt,” Aaron explains, quietly standing over Y/N’s shoulder, looking down at Michael, he reaches over and lets him hold his finger, the two of them are just in awe.
“When we had Henry, we gave him a godparent from Will's side and my side,” JJ explains. “Spencer has been the best support, it’s hard to get Will's sister out here often to help, so we thought why not give Michael two god-parents that are always around…”
“We’d love to be his god-parents,” Aaron accepts it right away.
“I’m going to be home for a year so if you need anything, you know where to bring him,” Y/N reminds them. “Heck, I might even just stay home permanently and babysit all the FBI babies.”
“I’ll be taking a decent paternity leave,” Will announces. “I loved staying home with Henry for the first year. We could have playdates, though?”
“I would love that,” Y/N smiles over at will. “Our kids are going to be best friends yet again.”

Emily adjusts her hold on the bundle in her arms. She smiles down at her daughter, looking intently at her face, eager to memorise every tiny feature. She hums softly as the baby shifts in her embrace and whimpers.
“Oh Evie, Mommy’s got you,” she says, lifting Evelyn to press a kiss to her forehead, “It’s hard work being born, huh?” She grimaces as she shifts in the bed, her lower body hurting in ways she didn’t know was possible, “Mommy didn’t have an easy time of it either,” she gently strokes Evelyn’s cheek and then her nose, the slope of it more beautiful than it had ever seemed on her own face, “You’re the best Christmas present ever though, even if you did give me and Daddy a bit of a shock this morning.”
She wasn’t due for another three weeks.
Emily’s plan for Christmas Day had been to sit on the couch, eat more cookies than any one person feasibly should, and let Jack talk at her about all of his new toys. Evelyn, it seemed, had other plans. Emily had woken up very early in the morning to a pain in her belly that she initially wrote off as Braxton Hicks contractions, an idea she quickly dismissed when her water broke as she stood up. Aaron had woken up to her shaking him, her voice tight, strangled by fear that her baby wasn’t supposed to be coming yet, as she told him she was in labour.
It was only when they made it to the hospital, Jack safely with Jessica, that she really thought about the fact it was Christmas, that she was having a baby on Christmas Day of all days. She had spent the time in between contractions worrying about the fact her little girl’s birthday was on a major holiday, that she’d never quite get the attention she deserved. Aaron had tried to calm her down, her physical and emotional support as he sat behind her for hours, never once complaining when she was sure she almost broke his hand.
She looks up as she hears a knock on the door, “Come in,” she says quietly, smiling as her husband pops his head into the room, his smile wide and full of adoration as their eyes meet, “Hi honey,” she looks down at Evelyn, “Look sweet girl, Daddy is back.”
Aaron’s smile gets impossibly wider at the sight of his girls together, “Are you two ready for a visitor?”
She nods, well aware that there was only one person that Aaron would have with him. He’d only been out of the room for a matter of minutes, his only goal to meet Jack and Jessica in the waiting room so the young boy could meet his little sister, and she’d missed him. Emily had been clear from the very start that she didn’t want visitors in the hospital, and that Jack was her only exception.
It ended up being one of the benefits of going into labour when she had. She’d sent a text to the BAU team group chat, wishing everyone a Merry Christmas, but hadn’t hinted that she was in labour.
She could surprise them all tomorrow, send a picture of Evelyn and Jack together and announce she’d unexpectedly given birth earlier than expected, but for now, she wanted to live in this little bubble with her children and her husband.
“Of course,” she replies, winking at her husband before the door opens, revealing Jack standing next to him, his eyes wide in wonder as he walks into the room, “Hi Jack.”
“Hi,” he says, stepping closer to the bed, staring at the bundle in Emily’s arms. “Is that baby sister?”
“Yeah, buddy, that’s your sister” Aaron says, picking Jack up and placing him carefully on the bed so he doesn’t jostle Emily too much, “Now be careful, remember-”
“The baby is small and Mom might be sore,” Jack says, his eyes still fixed on the baby, his fascination so intense he misses how Emily rolls her eyes at Aaron over his head.
“I’m fine, sweetie,” Emily says, encouraging him to sit next to her, rearranging the blankets around her daughter's face, “This is Evelyn, but we’re going to call her Evie most of the time.”
Jack gasps and leans in closer, stamping a kiss on Evelyn’s forehead before he sits back up, looking back and forth between his parents, “She’s so pretty, Mom,” Jack says, his smile wide as he leans into Emily’s side, “Just like you.”
Emily chuckles and shakes her head, turning to kiss his temple, “You’re a charmer,” she says, looking at her husband and raising her eyebrow, “Just like your dad.”
“Can I hold her?” Jack asks enthusiastically and Emily nods.
“Of course, put your arms like mine,” she says, nodding encouragingly as he does so, “Be careful with her head,” she adds as she hands over Evelyn, shushing her as she whines a little bit, making sure she keeps a hand under her head for extra support, “There you go.”
The family of four falls into a contented silence as Jack looks down at his younger sister, his smile wide.
“What do you think, Jack?” Aaron asks, sitting on the edge of the bed. He places his hand on Emily’s leg and squeezes, exchanging a small smile with her.
“I think she’s the best Christmas present ever.”
___
Emily was losing her mind.
She was surrounded by wrapping paper, ‘Happy Birthday’ to her right and ‘Merry Christmas to her left.
She hated wrapping presents. She wasn’t good at it, didn’t have the patience for it, but it was a necessary evil - especially this time of year. She groans as she looks at the pile of toys in front of her, gifts for Evelyn and Jack mixed in together, and she rests her elbows on the table and her face in her hands.
“You okay sweetheart?”
She turns her head just enough to look at her husband, offering him a half smile as he walks over, “I hate wrapping.”
He chuckles as he sits next to her and places a hot chocolate on the table in front of her, “I know you do,” he says, stamping a kiss against her temple as he reaches out and places his hand on her stomach, rubbing a circle on her bump, “How are you two doing?”
She smiles as she rests her hand over his, “We’re okay,” she says, scrunching her nose up as she looks at the pile of still unwrapped gifts on the table, “He hates wrapping too.”
Aaron raises his eyebrow at her, “He told you that did he?”
She shrugs, “He lives inside of me, I just know.”
He smiles and leans in, stamping a kiss against her lips, “Why don’t you sit there and enjoy your hot chocolate,” he says, sliding it closer to her, “And I’ll take over wrapping.”
She beams at him, both of them aware that this was the inevitable outcome anyway, and she nods, reaching out for her drink and leaning back in her chair, “The giant stuffed dog is for Evie’s birthday, the PlayDoh Kitchen is for Christmas.”
“I know, Em,” he says, winking at her as he starts to measure out paper, doing it much more meticulously than she would, “I went to the toy store with you,” he smiles wryly, “And last year she was more interested in the wrapping paper than the toy we actually bought her.”
She nods, sipping her hot chocolate, “Sorry, honey,” she says, watching him as he works, “I think I’m just…overthinking it. She’s turning 3 and it’s the first birthday and Christmas she’s going to really understand.”
He puts down the scissors and reaches over to squeeze her knee, “I know, baby,” he assures her, “And you’re five months pregnant, so everything feels a little sharper.”
She presses her lips together, one of her hands drifting down to her bump, smiling at the sensation of her son moving, “That too,” she sighs, looking over the pile of gifts, “I…I feel bad sometimes. I worry she’s going to grow up and feel bad because her brothers have separate days and she has to share her day with everyone.”
Aaron shifts closer, wrapping his arm around her as he pulls her into his side, “Em, she’s the happiest little girl,” he says, “And we’ve always made a point that the morning is her birthday, the afternoon is Christmas, and we’ll keep on doing that,” he places his hand on her bump, “And her little brother will understand it all too.”
She hums, “I hope so,” she says, resting her head on his shoulder, “Speaking of the kids, where are they?” She asks as she looks around, “It’s too quiet.”
He chuckles, “Last time I checked Jack was showing Evie how to play a game in the living room.”
She smiles and she nods, placing her hot chocolate down and kissing his cheek before she stands, “Well, your youngest son is bouncing on my bladder, so I’ll check on them on the way to the bathroom.”
He grabs her hand as she walks past and presses a kiss to her knuckles, “Love you.”
“Love you too,” she replies, squeezing his hand before she leaves the room, suppressing a yawn as she looks at her watch and rolls her eyes, “It’s only 6 pm,” she grumbles to herself, “You’re zapping all my energy sweet boy.”
She stops outside of the living room when she hears her children’s hushed voices, pausing just out of sight so she can hear them.
“I’ll write your name for you, Evie,” Jack says, “And you put on the glitter.”
“Momma loves glitter.”
Emily chuckles at the delight in her daughter’s voice, and she covers her mouth to stop herself from disturbing them. She absolutely did not love glitter, especially in what she was sure in large amounts on her hardwood floor, but she loved her children, so she’d put up with finding glitter on the floor for the rest of her life if it made them happy.
“Exactly. That’s why we’ve got to make her the best card, because she’s the best Mom,” Jack says, and Emily blows out a steady breath, tears already pressing at the back of her eyes.
“The best Momma!”
She presses her lips together to stop them from trembling, but tears slip past her lashline, splashing onto her cheeks at the sound of her daughter’s sweet voice.
“They’re right you know,” Aaron says softly, appearing behind her so quietly that she jumps, her hand on her chest as she turns to look at him, “You are the best.”
She smiles as he pulls her into a hug, his arms tight around her, and she presses her cheek to his shoulder. Sometimes it was still hard to believe that this was her life, that she had a family of her own. A husband she loved beyond measure and children that were the centre of her world.
“Aaron?” She says softly, and she feels the way he hums in response, feels it rumble from his chest to hers, “I still really need to go pee so you need to stop squeezing me.”
He lets go of her, a smile on his face as he steps back, “You go to the bathroom, I’ll go make sure the monsters aren’t entirely covering the living room with glitter as they make our cards.”
On Christmas morning, the presents for everyone still tucked away under the tree as Evie excitedly unwraps her birthday presents, Emily sits on the couch, a cup of tea in hand, and revels in her ordinary, extraordinary life.
___
She yawns as she picks up balled-up wrapping paper, unceremoniously dumping them into the recycling bin she’d pulled into the living room. She smiles at the mix of Christmas and Birthday paper, something that had been normal in their house for 15 years now.
“Mom, do you want some help?”
Emily turns and smiles at Evelyn, the teenager standing with her arms crossed in the doorway, “If don’t mind, honey,” Emily says, and Evelyn walks in, leaning down to start picking up paper too, “Where’s everyone else?”
“Jack is FaceTiming his girlfriend,” Evelyn says, rolling her eyes when she thinks of her older brother, “Apparently a whole week away from college might be the end of them both.”
Emily smiles as she watches her daughter clean up. Everyone had always said Evelyn was the double of her, in looks and attitude, and she knew it was true. It had been strange at first, raising someone who was exactly like her and struggling to see the faults her mother had always pointed out to her. All the parts of her own personality that people told her she’d struggle with when she was on the receiving end of them nothing short of amazing to her, each of them contributing to the beautiful person her daughter was turning into.
“Be nice,” Emily says, smiling wryly as Evelyn looks up at her with a raised eyebrow, “One day you’ll meet someone and fall in love and be just as disgusting about it,” she chuckles, “But don’t do it too soon, you might give Dad a heart attack and I quite like having him around,” she adds and Evelyn laughs too, the sound matching Aaron’s perfectly, the one thing she’d seemingly picked up from her father, “What about everyone else?”
“Ollie is reading his new book in bed,” she explains, and Emily thinks of her 12-year-old son, his love of learning and reading something that she treasured and would protect forever, even if it meant she had to go to the school and talk to the kids who called him a nerd, “And Dad is reading Willa a story because she insisted and we all know he’s wrapped around her finger.”
Willa had been a surprise, an addition to their family they weren’t expecting a few years after they’d agreed Oliver would be their last. Emily had assumed her mood swings and exhaustion were perimenopause, the start of the next stage of her life. The sadness, the pull of regret in her belly, felt strange, misplaced even, until her doctor told her she was pregnant, the final piece of the puzzle they hadn’t known was missing. Willa was funny, her sense of humour sharp for a 9-year-old, and she lived to make the people around her laugh.
“You say that like he isn’t wrapped around yours,” Emily quips, her smile getting wider as Evelyn jokingly sticks her tongue out at her. She smiles as she dumps the last of the wrapping paper into the recycling and she sighs, “Want to pick a movie whilst we wait for your dad?”
Evelyn’s eyes light up, “I get to pick?”
Emily smiles, “It’s your birthday honey, of course you get to pick,” she squeezes her daughter’s shoulder as she passes her, “I’ll get the hot chocolate.”
She makes quick work of making the drinks, making sure she puts extra marshmallows in Evelyn’s, and she walks back to the living room. Evelyn was on the couch now, a blanket over her lap. Emily walks over and puts the hot chocolates down on the coffee table and sits next to Evelyn, she smiles when the teenager puts the other half of the blanket over Emily’s lap. She then rests her head on her mother’s shoulder, sighing contently as Emily lifts her arm and lets her snuggle closer.
“Did you have a nice birthday?” Emily asks, running her fingers through her daughter’s long dark hair.
Evelyn nods against her, “I did, thank you for all my gifts,” she tilts her head to look up at her, “Can I ask you something?”
Emily nods, “Of course you can.”
“Where do you even find birthday wrapping paper this time of year?” She asks, her brow furrowed, “When I was picking out stuff to wrap my gifts for everyone I couldn’t see it anywhere.”
Emily chuckles, “I buy it when I buy stuff for Jack’s,” she says, “Just to make sure I have it.”
Evelyn smiles at her, “Why? I mean, I love it, but you don’t have to worry. I know you’re busy.”
She shrugs at her daughter's question, “Ever since you were born, and you were that tiny little baby in that hospital room, I promised you that I’d always make sure you felt special on your birthday,” she says, still playing with Evelyn’s hair.
Evelyn smiles at her, “You’ve always done that, Mom,” she says, “You’re the best.”
Emily presses her lips together to stop her daughter from seeing them tremble, her children and their open affection for her something that had always been her Achilles’ heel. It was something she treasured, a sign that she’d done what her mother had never done for her - raised them in a way that let them know they were loved.
“I remember on your second birthday you were more interested in the wrapping paper,” Emily says, changing the subject just enough so she could get her emotions under control. She smiles wistfully as she thinks about when Evie was a tiny little thing, not the gangly teenager who was leaning against her, “You didn’t look at your actual present for days.”
Evelyn chuckles, “I have always liked shiny things.”
“You get that from your Dad,” Emily jokes and they both laugh, sinking further into each other, both of them enjoying some rare alone time together.
“What are you two laughing at?” Aaron says as he walks into the room, his eyebrow raised as they both turn to look at him and start laughing even harder. He shakes his head and walks over, dropping a kiss on his wife’s lips before he rounds the couch and sits on Emily’s other side, sandwiching her between him and their eldest daughter.
“Nothing, honey,” Emily says, her hand on his cheek as she pulls him in for a quick kiss, making a point of doing it again when Evelyn groans in disgust next to him, “Evie picked the movie.”
“Well of course,” he says, leaning back to look at his daughter over his wife’s head, “She’s the birthday girl.”
Evelyn smiles widely, “I’m the best Christmas present ever,” she says. It was something she’d repeated every year ever since Emily had told her that’s what Jack had called her when he met her, something that embarrassed the now 22-year-old.
Emily smiles and squeezes her daughter against her, “You really are.”

IN LOSS AND LOVE
AN AARON HOTCHNER X OFC STORY
A/N: THIS IS MY FIRST EVER POTENTIAL MULTICHAPTER STORY SO I HOPE YOU ENJOY. ENGLISH IS NOT MY FIRST LANGUAGE TOO (1602 WORDS)
Tumblr media
A woman stood alone.
Empty cars were lined on either side of her, one of them her own, and yet she could not move another step, even as snow started to fall down from the heavens upon her.
She didn’t know what she was doing here, she didn’t want to be here and god knows that she shouldn’t be here, but here she was standing in front of the community hall.
Death.
That was the reason for her standing there, and for why her heart was shattered. Death had snatched someone away from her, someone important and involved within her life, and grief had fallen upon her heavier than the incoming snowstorm.
He had been her husband, her best friend once upon a time. Life hadn’t been easy for them both, and they had divorced a while ago, yet he had been so integrated into her heart and life, that just walking through those big doors before her, it felt that if she did, then it meant he was indeed gone and she was somehow betraying him.
But she needed to do this, it wasn't just herself she had to worry about, and she had been struggling, the entire family and their friends had been too. So, with a heavy heart and deep sigh, Eleonora persevered and let courage prevail.
Her gloved hand felt shaky as she held the door open for herself, but the warmth of the heat indoors made Eleonora feel somewhat relaxed. The soft clicks of her heeled boots seemed to echo slightly as she made her way along the corridor, her hazel eyes looking for the room that the group were to be meeting in.
Luckily, it didn’t take Eleonora long, as she found the room easily. She could hear muffled chatter from within, and again she felt her anxieties rising from within herself. This was it, finally confronting that Joseph was dead, and she pushed herself through the heavy door.
It was like she had imagined the group to look like. A number of chairs were set up in a large circle, and a few people had gathered already and were chatting. They seemed friendly enough, guessed Eleonora. There was even a small table where some were making tea or coffee. Coffee sounded quite heavenly at that moment to her.
Alas, Eleonora didn’t get to go make her coffee as an elderly woman seemed to appear out of nowhere and before her. She seemed kind, a soft smile upon her aged face, painted dark red. A frail hand reached out, with matching dark red painted nails.
“Ah you must be Eleonora?” asked the old woman to Eleonora, who nodded with a kind smile.
“Yes, I’m Eleonora, and I’m guessing you are Margot?” replied Eleonora. Margot had been the one to reply to her email about the group and the group leader.
An even wider smile came across Margot’s face as she nodded. “Ah it is good to see you here, it’s always hard at first, but I think you’ll find us a friendly bunch who are in the same boat,” said Margot as she rubbed Eleonora’s right arm gently.
Eleonora sniffled slightly. “It’s been a couple of weeks and with Christmas coming up, not having Joseph there is just heartbreaking…,” replied Eleonora as she accepted a tissue from Margot.
Margot nodded. “I wish I could say it will get easier, but there’s always a piece of you missing. It has been fifteen years since I lost my George in a car accident,” she added, sighing sadly.
Eleonora felt her heart break for the woman before her. “Oh I'm so sorry, how do you get by after so long?”
“Back then I had a good family around me, and I had my three children too,” replied Margot as she walked slowly with Eleonora towards two seats next to each other. “But I found this group, and it helped a lot and I mean it. I found that I wasn’t alone and people who completely understood the loss of a spouse or partner too.”
Eleonora nodded as she slid down onto the foldout chair. “I was really nervous about coming to be honest, Margot. It just feels like being here cements that Joseph isn’t ever coming back.”
The elder woman grabbed hold of Eleonora’s hands and held them in a gentle grasp. “The first step is always the hardest part, but you are here, and we always help each other here. Joseph might be gone, but he’s still there in your heart, isn’t he?”
“Oh yes, I mean we might’ve been divorced, but he was still so important in my life!” said Eleonora to Margot, who smiled comfortingly at her.
“You had a son with him, didn’t you? That you were co-parenting?” asked Margot as she leaned closer to Eleonora, the scent of lilies and roses wafting towards her.
“Yes, Theo. He turned three years old back in August. God, he misses his papa, but he’s so young that he doesn’t really understa-” replied Eleonora, her voice breaking as she thought about her little boy crying out at night for his papa or wanting to speak to his papa.
Margot sniffled herself as she pulled Eleonora into a warm hug. Eleonora could feel the tears running down her cheeks, but she didn’t care nor worry. Just from meeting and chatting with Margot, she felt safe, and she felt comfortable showing her emotions.
“Oh sweetheart, I’m so sorry,” murmured Margot as she comforted Eleonora. “I know exactly what you’re going through and just let it all out. Nobody will ever judge or ridicule you here.”
Eleonora pulled herself away from Margot’s embrace and wiped her wet eyes. “God, I probably look like a drowned cat right now… do you have any tissues and maybe some coffee?” asked Eleonora as she held onto Margot’s outreached hand.
Margot nodded and turned to another member of the group. “Emmett dear, will you fetch some of the tissues from the supply cupboard? I don’t think they’ve been put out yet.” she asked, and a tall man nodded and Eleonora guessed that he was indeed Emmett. “Now back to you my dear, some tea will do you some favour instead of caffeinated coffee!” she added as she brought Eleonora over to the little table she had seen before.
“I’ve never been a big tea drinker before, and I’ve been drinking coffee nonstop lately, I feel,” said Eleonora as she watched as Margot whipped together a white polystyrene cup of tea for her.
Margot nodded as she worked. “Tea was such a blessing for me, helped calm me and helped me sleep too. Do you have milk in it?” she asked, and Eleonora nodded and before long she was holding the warm cup in her pale hands.
After one sip, Eleonora did feel more relaxed somehow. Perhaps it was the warmth, or maybe it was the milk or just that someone had made it for her. The last few weeks had been tough, and she had been prioritising Theo over herself. “Wow, this is probably the best tea I’ve ever had, Margot!” she stated as more people turned up through the doors that Eleonora had been nervous about walking through herself.
Margot chuckled and rubbed Eleonora’s arm. “I’m glad you like it, now I hate to be rude, but I need to go welcome the other newbies!” smiled the old woman who Eleonora was now already fond of.
“Don’t let me keep you, I’ll just sit here and drink my tea!” replied Eleonora as she brushed a strand of her own light brown hair away from her face as Margot made her way to the new arrivals.
Eleonora hadn’t been joking about the cup of tea, it was a great cup of tea, and it didn’t take long for her to wander over to the table and take a biscuit to nibble on. Emmett chatted away with her for a bit and introduced her to some others he knew, and it was then that Eleonora knew she had made the right decision to come tonight.
It was only as she was talking away to Sara and Juana, two women close in age to herself, that Eleonora locked eyes with another set that she had not seen in over ten years, but she would never forget those brown eyes nor the man who they belonged to. Eleonora found herself rising from her chair and, if by autopilot or something more, she felt herself hurrying ever so slightly to who she had seen and who had seen her too.
Eleven years had passed, and a lot had changed in Eleonora’s life, but Aaron Hotchner had not.
"Ella is that you?" he asked, his gaze unyielding yet filled with withheld emotion.
Eleonora nodded, feeling herself begin to tear up at the sight of Aaron after all these years.
"Yeah, it's me, Aaron," replied Eleonora, and with that she felt herself being pulled into his tall frame and into a deep hug that was exactly how she remembered.
"It's been so long. I missed you," he murmured into her neck.
"I know, I missed you too. But we've found each other again," she whispered, staring up at him.
Years had passed, loves had been lost and lives created, but at that moment, the two of them were there, together and perhaps just what each other needed.

A Series of Unfortunate Events (David Rossi)
Author’s Note: A Series of Unfortunate Events is a series of drabbles which detail how each member of the BAU found out JJ and Emily were dating. As always, reblogs and comments welcomed! Enjoy!
[Spencer Reid] [Penelope Garcia] [Aaron Hotchner] [Derek Morgan] [David Rossi] [A Series of Unfortunate Events on AO3]
—————————————————————————————————
Rossi raised his glass of wine, "To good friends and time off together!"
Everyone raised their glasses to the toast, happily chatting amongst themselves. The team had just gotten back from a long case and a family dinner at Rossi's was very much what everyone needed to unwind. It was a beautiful night, so they had opted to eat on Rossi's patio to enjoy the warm summer weather.
Derek was telling Emily some story about his most recent date-of-the-week and she was half nodding along while her eyes focused over his shoulder. Emily couldn't help but stare at JJ, her heart melted while she watched the way JJ's entire face lit up while she was talking to Garcia.
"You're not even listening, huh?" Derek chuckled as he waved a hand in front of Emily's face.
"What? No, I was absolutely paying attention! You were saying that Laura goes to your gym," Emily repeated to him.
"Lana goes to my dentist," Derek corrected with a suspicious glance. "What are you staring at anyway?"
He went to turn around to follow Emily's line of sight. but she quickly interrupted him with, "Hey, can you go grab me another drink?"
Derek kept his attention on her, "Sure, Princess. I need a refill anyway."
Emily smiled until Derek walked away, then dropped her facade with a sigh. She was so hopelessly in love with Jennifer Jareau and she knew it was only a matter of time until the team figured her out. It wasn't Emily's fault that JJ was so gorgeous, how was Emily supposed to not stare?
Rossi sat down in Derek's chair and smiled at Emily knowingly. "Hey Prentiss, what are you thinking about?"
"Me? Nothing, I wasn't thinking anything," Emily stammered, plastering on her well-rehearsed, tight smile, she had adopted for her mother's political functions.
Rossi sipped his wine, staring at her for a moment. "Take a walk with me."
It wasn't a request, Emily knew she had no option in the matter. She got up and followed Rossi as he wandered into his large backyard.
"Rossi, if you have something to say..." Emily stated, once they were far enough out of earshot of their team members.
"Look, Emily, you know I think of you as a daughter," Rossi said. "So, I just felt like it's my duty to say that I'm here if you want someone to talk to about...well, your secret." The last two words were nearly whispered.
Emily's posture went rigid, "....what secret?"
"I've noticed the way you watch JJ and I put two and two together. But I'm not going to tell anyone," Rossi reassured.
Emily glanced back towards the patio, automatically smiling when she saw JJ. Her body language softened a bit when looking back to Rossi, "Am I that obvious?"
"To me? Yeah, absolutely kiddo," Rossi laughed. "For what it's worth, I think you should go for it."
Emily's brow furrowed, "Go for what?"
"For her! You should ask her out," Rossi replied.
"Ohhhhh, right..." Emily nodded slightly, trying to hide her surprise at Rossi's suggestion. "Yeeeah... I should, ask her out... Uh, thanks for the advice."
"Wonderful," Rossi said. He squeezed Emily's shoulder supportively, before motioning towards the team. When Emily didn't move he chuckled and added, "No time like the present!"
"You want me to ask her out...right now?" Emily asked.
"Why not? Gorgeous night, jovial spirits, why don't you take her around the side to the swinging bench?" Rossi instructed, clearly proud of himself for coming up with such a romantic idea.
"Sure. Yeah, the swinging bench..." Emily muttered when she began walking back to their group of friends.
JJ had moved to sit with Spencer, who was showing her his newest magic trick while she feigned excitement. Emily tried to act casual when she moved to stand next to the pair.
"Oh, there you are," JJ smiled. "I was wondering where you got off to."
"Uh, yep. I'm here. It's me," Emily said, shifting under JJ's stare. "Uhm, JJ...do you want to...walk with me?"
JJ raised an eyebrow, "What's wrong?"
"What? Why would anything be the matter?" Emily replied, forcing a smile, which was a strange mix of surprise and uncomfortableness. "I'm fine, it's fine. Great, fine!"
"JJ's right, you're really flushed and you're grimacing," Reid pointed out.
"I'm not grimacing," Emily admonished. "I don't grimace!"
"No, he's completely right. Your face is doing the thing where you think you're smiling but it actually just looks like you're in pain," JJ joked with a small wink. She tried to mimic Emily's facial expression, while bursting into laughter.
Emily scowled, "Fine, whatever. Nevermind!" She turned to walk away from the awkward conversation, but JJ caught her wrist. Emily stopped without turning around, afraid JJ would see how much she was blushing.
"Emily we were joking," JJ said softly. "Of course I'll take a walk with you."
Emily pulled free of JJ's grasp and began walking away, without another word. She needed to get JJ alone before they could talk. She made a beeline towards the side of the house, where Rossi had an impressive rose garden with a wooden swinging bench. Emily often snuck away from the group to go swing when she needed to clear her mind. Many nights, she had sat alone on the bench while trying to sort out her feelings for JJ. Now, JJ was two steps behind her as she headed towards the secluded spot and Emily's heart was racing.
"Why don't we sit down," Emily offered when they reached the bench.
JJ followed Emily's lead, sitting down next to the brunette. "Em, are you alright?"
The only light was from the small garden lanterns and the moon, but even so, Emily could make out all of JJ's striking features. JJ's blue eyes still somehow sparkled in the night. Emily admired JJ's features, suddenly focusing on JJ's lips...JJ's perfectly soft, inviting, lips.
"Em?" JJ asked again.
Emily opened her mouth to speak but closed it unable to speak, her thoughts were racing. She sighed looking to JJ, who was patiently waiting for Emily to explain why she had pulled her aside. Emily just smiled before leaning in to press her lips to JJ's. The kiss had caught JJ by surprise and she pulled away quickly.
"Emily?" she whispered in disbelief.
"I uhh, sorry. Sorry, I shouldn't have done that," Emily replied hastily. "Oh god, JJ, I'm so sorry--"
"No, Emily...it's not that I don't want to kiss you. It's just, the entire team is here," JJ said softly.
"I know, that was really careless," Emily groaned. "It's just that you look so gorgeous and I just got caught up int he moment and I really should have asked but you just...."
JJ took Emily's hand in hers, "You're always so cute when you're flustered."
Emily stopped rambling, her shoulders relaxed. She rubbed her thumb against JJ's hand, looking down at their interlocked fingers and grinned. "It's just that... Rossi thinks I should ask you out on a date and I got a bit flustered and forgot myself..."
"Rossi said you should ask me out?" JJ laughed. "Well, Agent Prentiss...are you going to follow through with that suggestion?"
Emily bit her lip, "I dunno, you can be sort of a handful sometimes."
"Thought you loved when I keep your hands full," JJ replied in a tone that made Emily's pulse plummet into the pit of her stomach.
"I do," Emily said with a low moan.
JJ closed the distance between them, lacing her fingers in Emily's hair as their lips met again. Emily wrapped her arms around JJ's neck to pull her closer as JJ deepened the kiss.
When they paused to catch their breaths, Emily pulled JJ closer so JJ could rest her head against Emily's shoulder. Emily gently pushed the ground with her foot to rock the swing.
"So, did you tell Rossi we've already been dating for three months?" JJ laughed. She rubbed Emily's thigh with one hand, while reaching for Emily's hand with the other.
"Oh, not at all," Emily chuckled. "You know he loves giving me parental-type advice, I wasn't going to take that away from him."
"You're so kind," JJ quipped. "You know, when they all figure it you, he's going to think we got together because of him." Emily laughed at the thought and JJ looked up to her girlfriend with a loving smile, "...I'm glad you asked me out, Em."
Emily kissed the top of JJ's forehead with a dopey grin, "Me too, Jayje."

Hello! Would it be possible to request a story where reader or OC is like the cool auntie, and she's more excited/nervous to introduce Hotch to her nieces & nephews (than the grown ups lol) at a family party because they're super inquisitive kids. It'd be fun to see how Hotch would interact with them haha. :)
For sure honey! Sorry this took so long but I hope you like it!

Single For Life
Tumblr media
“You know you could have just a little bit of faith in me,” Aaron teased as you pulled up to your parents house in the suburbs. “I’ve done this a few times, I’m sure I won’t make a complete fool of myself in front of your parents,”
“That’s actually not what I’m worried about,” you chuckled nervously.
“It’s not? Y-Your siblings then?” he tried to hit the nail on the head, but missed again.
“Nope. My nieces and nephews,” you looked over at him. “I don’t know, I’ve kind of always been the cool aunt and I rarely bring people home to meet my family so I just-,”
“Don’t want them to think you’re lame for having a boyfriend?”
“Yeah kind of,” you laughed.
“Well, I may just have a few tricks up my sleeve so try not to worry about it too much,” he patted your shoulder and leaned in to give you a quick peck before getting out of the car.
When you first stepped into the house there was the first wave of greetings, as usual, from all the adults, and after a little bit of small talk and chit chat over wine they called the kids down to come say hello.
Once it was made known that you were in the house, a thunderous patter of footsteps came from the stairwell and you and Aaron decided to go meet them there.
“Auntie (N/N)! We missed you!” one of your nieces said while giving you a giant hug.
“Awe! I missed you guys too!” you grinned giving each one of them a hug and a kiss before one of them eyed Aaron curiously.
“Who’s your friend auntie?” he asked, motioning with his eyes towards Aaron.
“Um, he’s actually the reason we’re having dinner all together tonight,” you reached for Aaron’s hand and gave it a light squeeze. “I wanted you all to meet my boyfriend, his name’s Aaron and he’s really excited to meet you all,”
He gave them a wave before the youngest of the group, no older than six, said,
“Isn’t he too old to be your boyfriend?”
And before you and Aaron had enough time to be shocked your eldest nephew added,
“Yeah, what happened to single for life, whoohoo!” he mimicked exactly what you had said last year at a similar family dinner, even with the stupid hang gestures and everything. To be fair you were slightly tipsy and going through a break up.
“Oh really?” Aaron chuckled and crossed his arms. “Tell me what else has auntie (N/N) said?” he smiled, looking down at the kids and digging up dirt on you at the same time.
“She also said that all boys suck and that she’s never going to trust a man again,”
“Oh and remember that time she said that some guy named Hotch-,”
“Okay! That’s enough,” you quickly shut their mouths and laughed nervously now more directed towards your boyfriend.
“So you’re an FBI agent?” one of your nephews asked Aaron and he nodded.
“Do you have any cool stories you can tell us?”
“Loads of them,” he winked. “Why don’t we all go to the living room and I can tell you guys about the time I crashed a car to catch a bad guy,”
The kids were glued to him after that moment and honestly you realized instead of being worried that Aaron would make you seem lame that he would steal your thunder.
“So how does it feel?” your brother asked you with a chuckle, standing next to you as you watched Aaron play some games they’d never heard of with him.
“How does it feel to, what?”
“To be so helplessly in love that you don’t even care that you’re not the cool auntie anymore, your boyfriend is,”
“Oh shut up,” you punched his arm and he didn’t even flinch, only let out a small laugh.
“It’s nice isn’t it though?”
Your lips flicked up into a smile and you nodded.
“Yeah, it is,”
Later that night after dinner was well over and you had said your goodbyes, you and Aaron got back into the car and started the drive back home.
“I think that went well,” Aaron smiled. “What about you? Did it go like you wanted it to,”
“Yes,” you nodded. “Better even, you’re a hit with the kids,”
“Hope I didn’t step on your moment too much though,”
“Nah, it doesn’t matter,” you shrugged, moving your hand to meet his on the gearshift. “They loved you, that’s all that matters,”
“And what about you?” he teased and you rolled your eyes.
“I love you too,”
“Good cause I love you,”

Penelope and you both looked back at Aaron, taken back by his repeating of the word ‘boyfriend’. You didn’t plan on telling people so soon, considering he was your boss from your old line of work.
“I want to know everything about him, you have to invite him!” Penelope quickly went back into her loud chatting, attracting other faces at her comment. “I also may have mentioned to some of the team that you do have a boyfriend, it just slipped! You know I can’t keep secrets!”
“It’s okay, Pene,” You smiled softly. “I can’t invite him though, you know, since I’m not the one holding the dinner event.”
“You can invite your partner, everyone else can as well, considering it is a catch up,” Dave walked over, a cup of coffee in his own hand as he used the other to scratch at his stubble. “I’ll even invite the woman I’ve been seeing. Feel free to all bring a plus one, I have enough room and everyone deserves a taste of my Italian dishes, will change their lives.”
“Thank you, Rossi, but I simply can’t. It’s so soon, and he’s such a busy man,” You laughed, waving your hand. “It was a kind gesture though.”
“L/n, don’t tell us you’re embarrassed to show your new boyfriend to us?” Derek walked back over, poking your shoulder. “Penelope told all of us down here, just wanted to wait and see when you would tell us.”
“I’m not embarrassed, that’s absurd. He’s truly busy.”
“Invite him, I’ll make sure Will comes and hire a babysitter for Henry, so that we can truly have a adult night,” JJ chuckled. “Everyone is bringing a date, so it would be odd if you didn’t.”
“Actually, I don’t have a partner at the moment due to how invested I am in my studies and the factors of that many young woman my age only focus on the factor of conventional attractiveness rather then the complexity of brains and deep-”
“Don’t worry, Spencer, if you don’t have a date, then I’ll just bring two,” Emily joked. “You don’t need a date, I’m not bringing one either, but Y/n is for sure.”
“I’ll be like the tw-”
“You are dating someone, we aren’t, so you’ll bring that someone. Come on, L/n,” Emily continued on, grabbing your hand and pulling you away. “I’ll walk you out,” She turned back to wink at her coworkers, leading you to the elevator and soon the parking lot.
“Aaron,” Rossi looked towards his friend, a man who had his glare fixated on your exiting figure. “Will you bring Beth, the more the merrier.”
“Yeah, I suppose I will,” He answered, retrieving his cellphone from his pocket, pulling up her contact picture, thumb hovering over the call button. “Let’s finish up this work, so we call all get home.” He shoved it back in his pocket, commanding everyone else while moving back up the stairs to his office.
Meanwhile, you were outside of your car, looking at Emily still was right by your side.
“Bring your boyfriend,” She commented, watching as you fished for your keys and unlocked your car. “I want to meet him, I haven’t really talked to you in a long time.”
“We’re both so busy. Him as well.”
“Seriously, Y/n, I’m not gonna ease up on you. I’ve noticed the new tint in your eye, new considering the last time it was severely dulled. It’s amazing to see your real smile again, you closer to your old self despite the past losses. He really has helped you, so I want to meet the man who helped my dear friend so much.”
You contemplated her kind words, getting down to the point that everyone probably was happy to see you again, yourself physically and mentally.
“I’ll call him, see if he can come. Can’t promise anything, his work is very important to him, so if it needs him he’s there.”
Emily smiled widely, leaning over to kiss your cheek before you moved to open the front door and start your car.
“Great, I’m actually bringing someone. Poor Spencer might be the only one.”
“Aaron is as well?”
“Hotch, yeah,” She laughed. “Meet her at some track meet he had, Jack really likes her.”
“That’s good, I’ll see you soon then,” You smiled, shutting the door as Emily watched you back out, waving a small goodbye.
Leaving the facility, while at a stop light, you found your flip phone, finding the contact of Jethro and quickly dialing the number.
“Gibbs,” He answered.
“Hey, are you on a case?”
“No, are you driving?”
“Yes, safely. What are you doing? Building a boat,” You chuckled, imagining him in the basement with the tool and sweaty shirt.
“Yeah. Did you meet up with your old team today?”
“Mhm, all surprised to see me today. It was humorous in a sense. But, Rossi invited me and everyone to a dinner, telling us to bring a partner.”
“Who are you planning on bringing?”
“You.”
“So, we’re being more public with our relationship?”
“Just with the old team, my old team, they don’t have contact with anyone apart of NCIS, or at least not personal only professional.”
“I thought you were going to come and see me, instead of making me drive,” You could almost sense his smile on the other line, a mocking one.
Gibbs would obviously accept the offer, the man truly holding a strong affection for you, a soft spot personally for you, so he would agree to drive the hour or two.
But just because he would, it doesn’t mean he didn’t have to mess around a bit, act like he wouldn’t.
“I know, but then you can see my new apartment. And after this weekend, who knows when we’ll be able to see each other again. Both of our jobs involved sporadic cases that start and end at no specific time, hard to plan around. And, everyone is pressuring me to meet you.”
“I’m already popular, huh?”
“I suppose,” You huffed, rubbing your temple, exhaustion starting to take over you, wanting to get some rest, a calming bath to combat earlier feelings that seemed as if they were creeping up once again.
“I’ll come, don’t worry. Get home safe, call me when you have the address and date.”
“Okay, bye.” You hung up, tossing the phone onto the empty seat as you continued to drive, playing the music from the CD already inserted in your car.
Time leading up to the dinner seemed to fly by, especially considering that it wasn’t much time and you weren’t having to work. You decided to take the free time to get fully settled in, figure out your nerves, make a phone call to your therapist, and even read. Trying to get prepared for all the days that are to come.
Your hair was now being changed from its normal du to a new one, fancier in a sense. Applying a nice coat of makeup, new lip color, trying a new pallet and the old eyelash curler that hasn’t been used in a while, you finished ‘upgrading’ your face. A outfit was simple, considering you didn’t have many fancy ones, so with not much to choose, it was a quick decision.
Sliding that on and fixing the straps to be a bit tighter, messing with the bra to fit correctly, and pulling it down a bit, you grabbed your go to purse, shoving needed materials a into it as you moved to the kitchen.
Within the kitchen, there was a certain door within the wall of the pantry with a password. Quickly typing in the combination the door swung open, choosing between a small but handy knife, you put in the pocket of your bag.
You weren’t too worried about dangers at the dinner, but with years of catching/fighting murders, specific people after you, and even very powerful assassins, you carried certain weapons for safety.
Hearing the sturdy knock of someone’s knuckles on your front door, you rushed to shut the the secret door in the pantry, heading to your front door where someone was waiting.
A quick peak through the hole, your eyes widened in surprise and opened the door, allowing the man to walk in.
“I wasn’t expecting to see you, till uh, later tonight,” You mentioned, looking him up and down to see him more dressed up. “Are you not able to attend anymore?”
“No, I’m still going,” Hotch denied, sliding off his shoes and following you to the couch. “I just wanted to chat before than, a chance for just the two of us.”
“Is something wrong?” You walked over to your teapot, filling it with water, and placing it on your stove, heating up the water. “This is very unexpected.”
“Nothing is wrong. I just want to talk to you, see the apartment, hear what’s new with you.”
“Things,” You shrugged. “Obviously I’ve had a new job experience, similar in ways and also not. Grew closer with a new group of teammates, people, lost a few. Yeah, lost a few,” You repeated, remembering Jenny Shepard, even Kate, both amazing women, who did amazing things.
“That’s always hard, I guess my most recent loss was Haley,” Aaron hummed, soon the kettle making a high pitched noise, you rushing to take it off and grab some tea bags.
“She was also a amazing woman. Wonderful mother, cared so much for that little boy.”
“She really was.”
“Did you come to chat about her, it’s been a while since we had. Last time we really talked was five months after she passed, after the funeral.”
“It really has been that long?” Aaron questioned, taking the tea that you time handed him. “But it’s not the reason I came. I should have made more of a effort to keep in touch, after your transfer, after your loss.”
“You stayed with me for three months, allowing to lose some time with your son so you could change my dirty sheets and pick up all my snotty tissues,” You laughed, sitting down across from him with your own cup. “You had to get back to your family, make up for loss time.”
“You still helped me with my divorce during that time, and I still saw Jack,” He reminded you.
“I could’ve moved in with my father, but you allowed me not to do that.”
“Your father is a good man, but might not be the best to live with,” He laughed, a deep chuckle, something you didn’t see much. “You look nice.”
“Now you just notice,” You chuckle, taking another sip. “Thank you, you look nice as well. I was actually just going to call Jethro and tell him to meet me there, a bit of a drive and he isn’t happy about having to find a new team,” You spoke freely, feeling comfortable with the old friend, one you used to spill everything to years ago, him ranting to you too.
“Jethro? He has his own team? Sounds like a boss of some type.”
“Uh, technically. It’s complicated. I need to get going, to make it to the dinner on time and, finish, um, cleaning up my room before leaving.”
“I could take you there.”
“No thanks, I’ll see you there, bye.” You helped guide him to the door, a curt wave before he exited and shut it, locking it in a rush and moving back to the dining room table to clean the mugs.
You didn’t want to tell him all that, always insecure due to Gibbs being the prior boss of you and how people looked at that. Rumors were always spread about your and Aaron’s relationship, mostly about it being romantic.
Joining the team, you two easily hit it off due to your personalities. Always being filled with determination and stubbornness, refusing to give up till everything was done and right, even with files. Eventually you joined together, talked, spent most days with each other due to cases, and truly gained a very close friendship.
When rumors were getting around, glares were thrown your way, comments, left out by members who weren’t your immediate teams. People thought you were the cause of Haley and Aaron’s divorce, somehow word got around quickly, drama always does.
It was frustrating, already dealing with many different things at home, and even being in a relationship, it put so much unneeded stress and anxiety onto you.
So, getting into a relationship with Gibbs was a very reluctant thing on your part, he expressed his feelings first, but it was hard to accept them, despite the nerves he faced to do it.
Locking up the apartment, having all of your items with you, you made your way out the door and too your car, starting the drive to David’s house.
Upon arriving, you could hear light chatter in the home, lights on, and soothing music playing in the background. It sounded like everyone was having their fun, you couldn’t make out all the shadows of everyone indoors, just waiting outside for Jethro to arrive.
“Y/n?” You turned around at the sound of his voice, keys jingling in his hands as he walked up to you with a sly smile, shoving them in his pockets to place his arms around your waist. “What’s wrong, love?” Be snaked them around, a kiss to your somewhat clothed shoulder.
“Nothing, just a bit nervous to introduce you to everyone,” You smiled back at him, he squeezed a little tighter, catching your lips in a quick kiss. “Looking at your team, yet?”
“Nevermind that,” He grumbled, removing his hands to now interlace your left one with his right. “We should go in, right?”
“Maybe we could head back, to my place, say you are sick or something?” You looked back at him with a pleading look, to which he just chuckled at, starting to move to the front door, pressing the doorbell as you groaned a little.
“You’ll be fine,” He looked back at you as Rossi answered the door, cheerful smile on his lips, glass of scotch in hand as he moved out of the way to let you in.
“Ah! Y/n!” He cheered, leaning over to kiss your cheek and then pulled back. “Glad you made it! This must be…”
“Y/n! Oh where is the man?” Penelope rushed in, coming right by you with her own fruity drink, then leaning to whisper in your ear. “Is this him, oo!”
“Uh, Jethro that’s David,” You pointed to the man who first greeted you, him and Jethro shaking hands. “This is Penelope, the one kind of like Abby,” You smiled, as she gave you a little look, turning back and enveloping him in a little hug. She quickly turned back to you.
“He looks a little intimidating,” She whispered as you just laughed.
“For sure,” You nodded.
“Can I offer you a drink?” David turned to you two, gesturing to the one in his hand. Something like Garcia for you Y/n, and what about you Jethro?”
“Just call me Gibbs, and yeah that’s fine,” He corrected Rossi, taking your hand as the two of you walked more inside of the magnificent house.
It truly was so well designed, very expensive, and the appetizers adorning the oak wood table looked very delicious. You wanted to go and grab a bite, before you were actually led to the living room where everyone was currently sitting.
“L/n, finally made it,” Derek laughed, beer in his hand as he pointed at you with a little chuckle. “You always know how to be a bit late.”
“Fashionably late, I believe that’s what it’s called,” JJ corrected them with her own wine glass in hand, Will sat right besides her on one of the couch as most of them in that room joined in laughter.
“What can I say?” You laughed, walking over, feeling less nervous with the factor of introducing your boyfriend, taking a seat on another couch in the large room, Jethro automatically sitting right besides you.
“So, introduce us,” Emily motioned over to Jethro, sly smile playing on her lips.
“This is Jethro, but he goes by Gibbs, and, uh, this is the team,” You started to name everyone off while pointing to them, leaving off a few names due to your members introducing their own partners to you.
Emily, Derek, and JJ had all brought partners. Spencer and Penelope decided to ‘go together’ as if they were partners, and Hotch hadn’t arrived yet. Rossi also had his girlfriend helping him cook in the kitchen, making drinks for you and Gibbs now.
“So, you work at NCIS, right?” Spencer questioned. “The Naval Criminal Investigative Service, very interesting considering the type of crimes you investigate. I would love to hear more about some of your cases and how you went about it,” Spencer smiled, a small notebook being pulled out of his pocket with a pen.
“Yeah,” Gibbs just nodded, looking at you a little questioning, which you just chuckled at.
“Why should we talk so much about work, it’s something we all do too much of,” You joked, everyone laughing, as Dave came back out, handing some drinks.
“Fine, fine, what do you do for fun Mr. Gibbs?” Derek asked, putting a arm over the couch and pulling his girl closer to his side, the woman just on her phone.
“I like to build boats, a type of hobbie I’ve been doing for years.”
“Building boats? Where?” Will wondered, intertwining his fingers with JJ.
“My basement, a private workspace.”
“How do you get it out then?” Penelope inquired, now back by Spencer and her face in her hand, leaning closer to show her interest in Gibbs statement.
“I’d be no fun if you knew that,” He shrugged, taking a drink with a small smile as Penelope gasped, Emily mouthing how ‘I like him’. It was sweet how everything was going well.
They all continued to converse with Gibbs, easily accepting him apart of the conversation, it was sweet and you were now on your second drink, practically all nerves gone.
“Sorry we’re late,” A voice mentioned in the hallway, dressed in a fine suit with a beautiful woman standing besides him. He shrugged off the last of his coat as he hung it up, taking her hand and walking into the hallway a little.
“This is such a nice place, Aaron. Oh! Your friend, wow, so grand,” The woman admired, now truly getting in your line of sight.
“Yeah,” He mumbled, eyes interlocking with yours before falling onto Gibbs. “I’m Aaron, call me Hotch.”
“I’m Gibbs,” Your boyfriend stood up, moving over to the other man with his hand stuck out. “Call me that.”
You had a feeling this evening wouldn’t be as smooth as you hoped.

You and Hotch had been dating for almost a year and a half now. Upon dating, the two of you had decided that it was best to not say anything to the rest of the team. Although you wanted everything to be kept under wraps, everyone wanted the two of you to be together though, and they picked up on the many interactions that you exchanged with each other. It had been easy to keep the relationship a secret, or at least the idea of either you or Hotch being in a romantic relationship, until now when you came into the BAU floor wearing a revealing dress and a full face of makeup.
“Well, well, well,” Morgan whistled. “Looks like someone’s going on a date.”
“Shut up Morgan, you’re just jealous it’s not with you.” you laughed. “I am not jealous at all. You do look really good though.” he responded, in which you blew him a kiss.
“You look so beautiful! Your date is definitely gonna fall head over heels for you.” JJ squealed, coming up to give you a hug. You knew exactly who she was talking about. Hotch. She was the only person you were able to confide in about your relationship with him even though you had practically become best friends with everyone on the team. “Thank you JJ.” you smiled.
“Who’s the lucky guy?” Reid asked.
“Or girl?” Penelope said.
You looked for some of your items from your desk, trying to avoid the team’s burning questions. “All I can say is that he’s... definitely older.”
“Well, you know what they say, the older the wiser.” Emily suggested.
“Yes, this man is very wise.” you replied, putting your badge and gun in your purse. Little did everyone know that they were talking highly of Hotch.
Rossi came out of his office. “Well, you’re not going on a date with me.”
“Unfortunately-“ you frowned, then paused mid sentence when your phone rang. You pulled it out and broke away from the group to make sure they couldn’t see the name.
“Sweetheart, you know I can’t wait to see how beautiful you look.” Hotch mused. You could tell he had a smile on his face. “Well babe, lucky for you, I’m about to leave. See you in 5 okay?” You replied.
“Of course.”
You hung up and dropped your phone in your bag, grabbing your coat. “Alright everyone, I’m off. Don’t miss me too much, I’m a big girl, I’ll be okay.”
“Walk you to the elevator?” JJ asked. You nodded sincerely. You then said your goodbyes to everyone and walked out with JJ.
“He’s lucky to be with a woman like you.”
“Yeah, I like to think that. I’m just glad he doesn’t treat me like a child, ya know. I may be the youngest here, but when we’re alone, everything’s just different.”
JJ lifted an eyebrow. “Ohhhh, I see.”
You playfully smacked her on the shoulder as the elevator door opened. “Girl stop. It’s more than that.” You walked into the elevator, blowing a kiss at JJ.
“Have fun!”
✯✯✯✯
“You look absolutely amazing, did I tell you that already?” Hotch complimented as you got out of the car.
“Yes you have, about 5 times already, but I appreciate the compliments. You look quite handsome yourself, Aaron.”
“Thank you, my love.” he said, kissing you on the lips.
The two of you went inside the restaurant and followed the waiter to the reserved table, which had seating next to each other instead of across and the environment was pretty chill since there weren’t a lot of people inside, so it felt even more romantic. It gave you more freedom to perform many forms of PDA, which was something that Hotch wanted to experiment more with.
“So... everyone on the BAU floor is questioning who I’m dating,” you started. Hotch looked up at you mid bite. “Really? What’d you say?”
“I’m dating an older man who’s very wise.”
Hotch sneaked an arm around your waist. “I’m glad that you think I’m wise.”
“I can think of a lot more.” you whispered. You then crept your hand up to the nape of Hotch’s neck and pulled him closer to you, planting a passionate kiss on his lips.
“Mmm, I know what I’m gonna do to you when we get home.” Hotch murmured into your ear after kissing you back. “I’m going to fuck you so hard, you’re gonna be shaking when you walk into the BAU tomorrow.” His fingers tickled your bare skin, and you hoped you weren’t getting an orgasm from his touch.
“Oh what a naughty, wise man you are.” you mused, taking the opportunity to kiss and nibble on the soft skin that was Hotch’s neck. You sucked on it hard, leaving a dark red mark.
You went back to enjoying your meal and chatting when you were interrupted by a phone call.
“It’s Garcia.” Hotch whispered. He then proceeded to answer the phone. When he got off the phone with her, he looked disappointed. “What is it?” you asked.
“We’re being called in.”
“Fuck.” you muttered under your breath, hearing your phone ring too.
Hotch took your face in his hands. “It’s okay. We can finish date night another night.”
✯✯✯✯
You had texted JJ that you would be meeting them on the plane to avoid suspicions from the rest of the team and you would be briefed when you arrived. JJ had grabbed your go bag for you as well.
“Y/N, how was your date?” Emily asked.
It was tempting to smile and look at Hotch but you were able not to. “Despite it being cut short, it was amazing. We had... plans after dinner.”
“Oooo, risqué.” Morgan cocked his head to the side. You pinched his cheek and collapsed in one of the chairs, wanting to sleep. In a way, you were a bit upset that you and Hotch had to be called away from your date, you seriously wanted him to be all over you, kissing you, sucking on your skin, massaging your forbidden spots.
“Very. Where are we headed?”
The rest of the team then briefed you on the case and when you landed, you’d have to go with Hotch to talk with the lieutenant that was the lead on the case and set up at the field office.
While you were looking through your copy of the case file, you got a text from Hotch.
SSA Hotchner BAU ❤️: That hickey on my neck won’t be going away for a while, Rossi’s already asking about it
SSA Hotchner BAU ❤️: he thinks i had “a little rendezvous” before being called in.
You stifled a laugh.
You: well... you did. With me of course
You: Keep him wondering, I’ll give you more in our hotel room 😘 and i’m also holding you to that promise
SSA Hotchner BAU ❤️: the things i want to do to you... i wouldn’t even be able to count
You bit your finger and looked out the window, wanting the day to go by fast. Hotch was sitting across from you, so he looked up at you for a slight second with a grin on his face, which caught your attention quickly. He gave you a wink and looked back down. Moments later, the jet was arriving at the team’s destination and you were eager to just change out of your date night clothes.
“Do we have time for me to stop by the hotel we’re staying in?” you whispered to JJ while getting off the plane.
“My beloved friend, we’re on a time crunch.” JJ started. “But, I’ll let you come with me to get the keys for our rooms.”
You sighed in relief and smiled a thank you.
✯✯✯✯
“I kinda wished you didn’t have to change out of that dress.” Hotch admitted. You side eyed him, knowing that he was joking. That was until you turned to look at him and he was staring at you, examining you almost. “Me too,” you smiled, turning to look at him. “But obviously that would be super inappropriate.”
“Well of course it would be.” Hotch growled, pulling you closer to him.
“There’s cameras,” you hissed.
“Good.” One of his hands grabbed your ass and you let out a gasp. Clearly Hotch did not care whatsoever about the cameras, all he cared about was you, and how amazing you looked in front of him. That, and closing this current case as soon as possible. He took your face in his hands and kissed your lips ever so passionately, stopping just in time for the elevator door to open. As you were approaching the lieutenant, you straightened your shirt in hopes that he wouldn’t think that anything suspicious was going on.
“Lieutenant Baker, I’m SSA Aaron Hotchner and this is SSA Y/N .” Hotch said, shaking hands with Baker. When he got to you, a smile creeped up on his face and he lingered a bit after shaking your hand. A bit odd, you thought. “Thank you for coming,” he finally replied. “These suspicious murders have been going on for too long and I’d like to put an end to them as much as you do.”
“And that’s why we’re here.” Hotch agreed. “Is there a place for us to settle?” He led you and Hotch to a conference room with an evidence board, and as you were walking, you felt a familiar hand on your back, creeping to your waist. Goddammit Hotch. You glared at him to stop before he got caught and he only looked back at you with a smile on his face.
The rest of the time in the field office wasn’t bad, but you had a very huge feeling that the lieutenant was trying to make some moves on you.
It’s not like you weren’t used to this, men just found you super attractive. But you only found one man that was attractive.
Aaron Hotchner.
“Hey.” you turned around to find the lieutenant standing next to you. “Is there anything that I can help you with?”
“Nah, just putting these pictures and visuals up. Hotch and I are gonna review the case files until the family comes in to talk to us.”
“Ok, that sounds good.”
You noticed that Baker was still standing in your vicinity. “Is there something that you need from me, Lieutenant?”
“No, not at all. Let me know if you need anything from me, I’ll be trying to round up some potential witnesses.” Baker said, squeezing and rubbing your forearm for a moment and walking away to his office. He had a side grin on his face.
You, on the other hand, stood in your spot truly dumbfounded. Your mouth slightly gaped, you turned and watched Baker walk away. Suddenly your eyes made their way to Hotch, who was looking at you across the room, a grin also on his face.
“What was that about? He ask you if you were dating anyone?”
You rolled your eyes and finished putting up the map for Reid to use later. “Please, no.” Hotch was then standing by your side, leaning against the wall beside the evidence board.
“That wasn’t just any touch there.”
“Yeah well, it didn’t mean anything to me. Did you forget that I love you or something?”
Hotch pulled you into a kiss. “Of course not.”
“Good,” you whispered. “Then what’s the issue? A little jealous, I suppose?” You put emphasis on jealous.
“Agents? The victim’s mother is here.”
“Thank you, Lieutenant.” Hotch replied. He turned back to you. “We’ll talk later.”
✯✯✯✯
It was nearing the end of the day, and everyone was tired. It was only the team’s first day in a small Nevada town, but a lot was accomplished.
Riding in the car with Derek, Emily, and JJ back to the hotel room, you let the breeze flow through your body. Nervousness washed over you as you thought about the morning upon arriving at the field office.
Hotch always had underlying meanings to even the simplest things he would say, which is why you couldn’t stop wondering if he was the slightest bit upset at the lieutenant for advancing on you, the person he loved with all his heart.
“Hey.” JJ poked at your arm. “What’s going on? Trouble in paradise?”
You smiled a bit. “No, uh, I guess there was a bit of tension since the lieutenant was flirting with me.”
“He was actually good looking, I think he’d be a great match for you.” Emily suggested, turning around.
“Y/N does attract almost every male species.” Derek commented.
“Guys, stop, I’m just... not interested in him.” You said simply, turning back to the window. The only thing running to your head was what Hotch had planned for tonight.
When you got to the hotel room, you found things the way they were, only Hotch’s go bag next to yours. You pulled out your robe and shower essentials from your go bag - you hated using hotel soap - and started to strip. When Hotch came out of the bathroom, you were only in your underwear, slipping on your robe, and he was only in a towel.
“You didn’t say when you came in.” Hotch whispered, planting a small kiss on your head.
“I know, I didn’t wanna bother you. I’m gonna shower quickly okay?” He nodded and you then went in the bathroom. When you were done, Hotch was in bed wearing a white shirt and grey boxer shorts. God, he looked so hot.
“What conversation did you want to have earlier?” You asked, wrapping your robe around a bit tighter.
Hotch gestured to you to lay next to him. “You know how I get when it comes to people flirting with you.”
“Yeah, you go feral. Internally, of course.” You paused. “Wait. Is Aaron Hotchner... mad?”
His hand snuck inside your robe, trailing up to your chest, cupping your right breast, sending chilling shockwaves to the rest of your body.
“Let’s just say I wanna show you that you belong to me.”
Oh, Hotch was jealous alright.
You turned to face him and that’s when he worked his magic. One side of your robe slipped off, and next thing you knew, he was teasing your clit, making you wet. Your shallow breaths and whimpers filled the emptiness of the room. He continued teasing you for a bit, then you watched as he pulled out his cock, stroking it a bit while staring at you dead in your eyes. You knew exactly what he was doing. He wanted to make sure you knew he was the one in control, and that he would do anything to get off on your pleasure.
He made extra sure of it when he started cockwarming you.
Oh fuck you Aaron, you said in your head as small whimpers escaped your mouth.
“Yeah, you like when I do that to you?” Hotch- well Aaron, asked roughly. “You like feeling my cock inside you, don’t you?”
He was enjoying the sight of you, close to him, almost orgasming on the spot. But he wasn’t gonna let you get off that easily.
“What’s wrong, my sweet girl? Hmm?”
“I- I need you, Aaron,” was all you could croak out.
Aaron shifted on top of you and you curled your legs around him.
“Sweetheart, you’re gonna have to speak up for me to give you what you want.” Aaron teased, taking of his shirt.
“I need you Aaron,” you repeated a bit louder.
Aaron smiled and thrusted hard and fast into you, in which he took no time. “Good girl.” He let out a fierce groan when he did so.
“Who makes you feel good?”
“You do,” you moaned. “You make me feel good Aaron.”
He kissed you fiercely in response with one of his hands gripping your neck and the other holding on to your leg. “God, you look so sexy under me, my sweet, sweet girl. You take me so well.”
He knew you wanted to come, your flushed face gave it away. But when you asked, ever so politely, he responded with a firm no.
“You don’t get to come until I do.”
“But Aaron, plea-“
“No.”
As he was going faster, you felt yourself nearing an orgasm, and all you wanted to do was melt under him.
He pulled out just after he reached his high and smashed his lips against your clit, stimulating you even more. When he finally let you come, it came on strong and heavy, and a loud, broken “Aaron” escaped your lips. You did not care whatsoever if two of the other team members in the next room heard you. Aaron on the other hand was enjoying every moment of it. “Oh, my sweet girl, you taste amazing.” he mused.
When he was done he collapsed next to you.
“Hey, are you okay?”
“Yeah, just... that was super hot.” you breathed, moving closer to him.
“It was. I think now you know who you belong to.” Aaron whispered, caressing your cheek.
“Much more than I did before.”
Aaron offered to clean you up, and after, the two of you slept soundly for the rest of the night.

Can I please request a Hotch HC of him being a dad of two now? Like Jack and a newborn? 🥺
So, it is my own personal headcannon that Hotch wanted a big family. I think Haley probably did too but for some reason or another it didnt happen. In the Ties that Bind we’ll definitely see them with a big family!
Pairing: Aaron Hotchner x Fem!Reader
Warnings: Mentions of pregnancy, and breast feeding.
-Life with two kids is very different from just one kid.
-And a newborn is very different from a six year old.
-It’s a balancing act, making sure that Jack doesn’t feel displaced or replaced by the baby.
-You both take turns spending one on one time with him, and during the baby’s nap you both spend time with him.
-Aaron takes paternity leave when the second baby comes.
-JJ tells him, “the team needs you, but your family needs you more.”
-He always wakes up when the baby wakes up.
-A lot of the times he goes and gets the baby so that you can feed them in the bed.
-Because you’re breast feeding he can’t handle that.
-He does however take on dirty diapers.
-He also does most of the cleaning in the first few weeks after the baby comes home. Because you’re still recovering from giving birth.
-Jack likes to help with the baby, and Aaron gives him small, easy tasks as long as he’s willing.
-Jack’s favorite thing is to curl up next to the baby’s crib or hold him with yours or Aaron’s help.
-Tummy time is something both Hotchner men rock. They lay there with the baby.
-He sends a bunch of pictures to the BAU group chat, at their request.
-He likes to hold Jack and the baby at the same time.
-More than once you’ve come out from a shower to find the baby curled up on Aaron’s chest fast asleep.

☾ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚:⠀ *⋆.*:・゚ .: ⋆*・゚: .⋆
The sun shone down on the small stretch of beach the BAU team was currently situated on. Since it was Fourth of July and they didn't have a case, the team decided to rent out a mansion, Rossi's idea not theirs, in a small beach town they once visited on a case. Surprisingly they found a house that could accommodate everyone, including everyone's spouses and children. No one was quite sure where Rossi found the house and everyone shared the same theory. It was actually his but he didn't want anyone to know. All the adults were able to have their own rooms, while the kids all shared a room that was filled with bunk beds. The house itself was a beautiful Cape Cod-style three floor mansion with a pool, large yard, guest house and access to the beach.
Everyone was currently either sitting on the beach or playing in the water. Hotch, Rossi, Spencer, Emily and Y/N were currently sitting on the beach. Hotch and Rossi were getting snacks set up at the picnic table. Spencer and Y/N were lounging on the sand, Spencer opting to read a book while Y/N and Emily watched the kids splash around in the water. Penelope and Derek were chasing around Jack and Henry while JJ and Will took a walk up the beach.
"So I was thinking we do some fireworks tonight?" Rossi said, his voice raising so Spencer, Emily and Y/N could hear him. Y/N froze when she heard him, her body stiffening subconsciously. No one seemed to notice her small change in demeanor. No one except Hotch. When he caught her eye, he sent a look as if to say, 'everything okay?' Y/N shook her slightly before looking over at Rossi and telling him that was a great idea. Emily and Spencer followed suit, chatting excitedly about the small fireworks show they were going to have.
"Y/N! Y/N!" Jack shouted, running up the beach and launching himself into Y/N's arms. Henry, Derek and Penelope were following closely behind.
"Oh!" Y/N groaned when he landed in her lap, with his arms around her neck. Her arms immediately wrapped around him to hold him up before she looked down at the little boy."What's up buddy?"
"Do you want to go swimming with us?" Jack asked, his eyes lighting up. Y/N almost melted on site, her heart warming at the fact he wanted to spend time with her. She quickly glanced at Hotch, who was smiling back at her.
It was no secret that Hotch and Y/N were a couple. If Y/N wasn't at the BAU or on a case, she was at Hotch's house, spending time with him and Jack. They are constantly touching when they think no one is paying attention, sneaking kisses and holding hands. What they fail to notice is that everyone, is in fact, paying attention. Everyone's hearts melted the first time they saw Y/N with Jack. The team knew Y/N wanted kids, she'd been talking about it before her and Hotch even thought about getting together. And after seeing her with Jack, the team had all decided she'd make a great mom someday. In Hotch's eyes, she was already the perfect mom for Jack. Not that he was replacing Haley, but he knew Jack needed a motherly figure in his life. However, Y/N still felt out of place in Jack's life. She knew she wasn't his mom but she felt like she was more to him than his dad's girlfriend. Logically, the next step for her would be his step mom, but her and Hotch weren't anywhere close to getting married.
"Of course, bud," Y/N smiled at the little boy. "Give me a second, okay? And then we can head down there together."
Jack nodded excitedly, clinging onto Y/N as she stood up. Y/N laughed and moved him so he was balancing on her hip. Jack decided to keep himself busy by playing with her hair and poking her face every few seconds. Y/N walked over to Hotch, who was setting out paper plates.
"Hey buddy," Hotch said when he saw his son, his heart almost stopped when he saw the two most important people to in his life. He leaned over to Y/N and kissed her on the cheek. "Hey you."
"Hi," Y/N whispered, leaning against him slightly. "We're going in the water if you want to come with us."
"Please dad! Come swimming with mom and I!!" Jack exclaimed, wiggling in Y/N's arms. Just like that, Hotch and Y/N froze. Y/N looked at Hotch with confusion and a small trace of happiness in her eyes and Hotch just looked back at her, his expression mirroring hers. Everyone around them froze as well, carefully watching the situation.
"Okay, buddy, I will. Let me just finish helping Uncle Dave set lunch out and I'll be there in a few minutes, okay?" Hotch asked, a small smile appearing on his face. Jack nodded and put his head on Y/N's shoulder. Hotch leaned moved to kiss Y/N's temple before whispering,"You okay?"
Y/N didn't know how to respond so she just nodded before heading down to the water. Jack giggled when Y/N dropped him in the water without warning. When Jack stood up again, he splashed Y/N and tried to chase her.
"So, that was new," Rossi said, looking at Hotch. Hotch was facing the water, a giant smile on his face while he watched Y/N and Jack chase each other.
"Yeah, it was," Hotch said, unable to wipe the smile off his face.
"Do you think she liked being called mom?" Emily chimed in, her head resting on her hand.
"I do. You know her, she's always talking about being a mom and having kids of her own someday," Hotch replied.
"So you guys have discussed having kids, then?" Rossi asked, studying Hotch's face.
"We have," Hotch said giddily. "Not anytime soon, but we have talked about it before."
Without saying anything else, Hotch jogged down to the water. He wrapped his arms around Y/N before falling into the water. Jack just stood there giggling.
"Aaron Hotchner!" Y/N gasped, wiping water away from her face. "You're lucky I love you or else you'd be sleeping on the beach tonight."
Hotch just laughed and wrapped his arms around her waist and kissing her. Jack groaned in disgust and splashed them both. The two shared a look before they started chasing Jack around. The small family continued to play in the water for ten more minutes before Rossi was calling everyone back to the picnic table for lunch.
"Hey buddy, why don't you head up there? Y/N and I are going to just talk for a few minutes," Hotch told Jack. Jack nodded before running back over to Henry. Once they were alone, Hotch grabbed Y/N's hand and the two started walking along the sand. "Is everything okay? I noticed you tense up when the fireworks were mentioned."
"Yeah, yeah, I'm okay. Just don't like fireworks, that's all." Y/N said, leaning into Hotch's shoulder.
"If you say so....mom," Hotch laughed, nudging her with his shoulder. "How did you feel about him calling you mom?"
"I kind of liked it. I know that technically he shouldn't call me mom and I'm not trying to replace Hayley, believe me," Y/N rambled. "Is it okay that he called me mom?"
"Of course it is, Y/N. We both know that you aren't replacing Hayley. Jack knows that also. There's nothing to worry about," Hotch said calmly. He pulled Y/N into a small hug and kissed her forehead. The two made their way back to the picnic table, Y/N opting to sit next to JJ, Emily, and Penelope. Jack was sitting on Y/N's left, occasionally bumping into her arm.
"So, what did you and Hotch go talk about?" Emily said, shoving a piece of watermelon into her mouth. JJ and Penelope both leaning in to hear the conversation.
"Just about what the little one called me," Y/N said vaguely so she wouldn't catch Jack's attention.
"What did he call you?" JJ asked confused. She had been walking with Will when the whole 'ordeal' occurred.
"He called her M-O-M," Penelope whispered.
"Oh my god, no way! Is that a good thing?" JJ asked, very excited for Y/N.
"Yeah, yeah it is." Y/N said smiling. "Aaron and I talked about it, and we basically just decided that if Jack wants to call me M-O-M, then he can."
"That's really great, Y/N," JJ said, patting Y/N on the shoulder.
"Yeah, I'm really happy," Y/N said, smiling at her friends.
The rest of the group fell into a conversation, laughing and joking. Sometime during the conversation, Jack climbed into Y/N's lap, laying against her. Y/N held him closely, rubbing his back gently. When she checked on him, he was fast asleep. She adjusted him so she could carry him into the house before walking over to Hotch.
"Hi, love," Hotch said. "Is he asleep?"
"Yeah, I'm just going to take him up to the house so he can sleep. I might take a nap also, didn't sleep well last night," Y/N said quietly.
"I know, hon. I felt you tossing and turning all night, and I meant to ask you about it this morning," Hotch said concerned. "What was keeping you up?"
Y/N looked around at their friends before shaking her head. "I'll tell you later, okay?" She said quietly. Hotch nodded, watching as she took Jack to the house.
"Okay Jack here we go," Y/N said quietly, walking into Jack's room. She woke him up long enough for him to change into his PJs. While he was changing into his pajamas, she went to her room and changed into comfier clothes as well. She went back to Jack a few minutes later and knocked on the door. Jack opened the door, and lifted his arms for Y/N to pick him up. Y/N lifted him and carried him to his bed Y/N tucked him in before kissing his forehead. "Sleep well, sweetie."
"'Night mom," Jack mumbled before falling back asleep. Y/N smiled before leaving the room. She made her way to the room she was sharing with Hotch and climbed into bed, falling asleep almost as soon as her head hit the pillow.
An hour or two later, Hotch went to go check on both Jack and Y/N. After checking on Jack, who was still sleeping soundly, he went to his and Y/N's room. He stopped just outside the door, listening. He heard cries and muffled screams coming from inside the room. Without hesitation, Hotch threw the door open, quickly scanning his surroundings. Nothing in the room was out of the ordinary, except Y/N tossing and turning in the bed, cries leaving her.
Hotch hurried over to the bed, immediately pulling Y/N into his arms. She didn't have nightmares often, but when she did, Hotch always held her until she calmed down and woke up. He brushed the hair out of her face and kissed her forehead.
"Y/N, my love, please wake up," Hotch whispered. "It's just a dream, it won't hurt you."
Y/N woke up almost immediately, and cuddled closer into her boyfriend's chest. She whimpered when she felt him hold her tightly. They sat there in silence for a few minutes.
"I'm sorry," Y/N whispered, tears falling down her face.
"You have nothing to be sorry about, Y/N," Hotch said quietly. "How long have the nightmare's been happening?"
"Uh, about a week or two, I'm not sure. I don't remember what they're about. I always forget as soon as I wake up. The only thing I remember is extremely loud booming sound that won't go away," Y/N said, hiding her face in Hotch's chest.
"Like fireworks?" Hotch asked, and Y/N nodded. "Is that why you tensed up when Rossi brought it up?"
"Yeah, I guess. I didn't make the connection earlier, though," Y/N said, leaning her head on Hotch's shoulder.
"Do fireworks normally cause you to panic like this?" Hotch asked her.
"I think so. They just sound so much like gunshots, you know?" Y/N whispers. "The sound just sends me back to rough cases."
"I get it, Y/N. Trust me, I do," Hotch started. "Why'd you keep it from me?"
"I don't know. I didn't want to bother you," Y/N said, looking down at her hands.
"You can never bother me, Y/N. We can figure out an alternative to fireworks, if you want to," Hotch said quietly.
"No, no, I don't want to ruin everyone else's fun. It's only for a little bit, I can suck it up," Y/N said, laughing lightly.
"Okay, but if this happens again please don't hesitate to tell me. I don't like the idea of you struggling with something by yourself." Hotch said, kissing her temple.
"You'll be the first to know," Y/N smiled at him. "What's everyone up to?"
"Rossi, Will, Derek, and I were sitting on the porch, drinking some of that fancy stuff Rossi always has. Emily, JJ, and Penelope went to explore the town. Spencer is reading or sleeping, I'm not sure. And Henry and Jack are both taking naps." Hotch said. "And now, you and I are going to cuddle or go for a walk on the beach, it's your choice."
"Can we go downstairs and just hangout with everyone?"  Y/N asked, beginning to get out of bed.
"Of course," Hotch said climbing out of the bed and leading her down stairs. They went outside and sat with Rossi and Will. Soon after they sat down, Spencer came down from his room and joined in the conversation. Eventually, Emily, JJ, and Penelope returned from their trip and settled down on the outdoor sofa with everyone else. Jack and Henry opted to stay inside and play video games instead of hanging out with the adults.
The group shared stories and had a light conversation while Rossi began to cook dinner for everyone. Dinner was ready fairly quickly and everyone decided to go eat on the beach and watch the sunset. After dinner, Rossi and Derek decide to start setting up the fireworks while everyone else grabbed blankets and beach chairs from the house.
As soon as it was dark and everything was set up, it was time for the fireworks. Jack and Henry were hanging out on a blanket in front of all of the adults. Will and JJ sat the closest to the kids, with Emily and Spencer sitting in chairs next to JJ and Will. Penelope sat in between JJ and Emily, the three excitedly talking about the show they were currently binging. Hotch and Y/N sat next to Will, the group of adults forming a semi-circle around the blanket.
"Are you okay?" Hotch whispered in Y/N's ear when he noticed how tense she was.
"Yeah, just nervous, is all," Y/N said, grabbing Hotch's hand.
"Okay, guys! Are you ready?" Derek shouted from the spot of the beach they had the fireworks set up. Everyone cheered and chatted happily, waiting for the fireworks to start. Jack ran over to Hotch and Y/N and laid across both Hotch and Y/N's laps.
Soon the sky was filled with blasts of colors and their ears were filled with loud booms. Everyone 'oohed' and 'awed' at the bright fireworks against the dark blue sky. Y/N leaned her head against Hotch's shoulder, watching the night sky light up. She flinched with every boom and Hotch held her closely against his side.
"You're okay," Hotch whispered in her ear after a particularly loud round of fireworks caused her to whimper and jump. With every reassurance, her panic melted away. "I've got you, you're okay."
The fireworks lit up the night sky for about thirty minutes before everyone grabbed their chairs and blankets getting ready to go inside.
"He's asleep," Hotch whispered, motioning to his sleeping son.
"You take the chairs and I'll carry him in okay," Y/N said, picking Jack up and balancing him on her hip and his head immediately fell onto Y/N's shoulder. Once Hotch grabbed the chairs, Y/N and him went back into the house, wishing everyone goodnight.
"Let's tuck him in," Y/N said, walking up the stairs to Jack and Henry's room.
"I can carry him, Y/N," Hotch said, worried he was too big for her to carry.
"Love, I got this. I carried him up here earlier today, remember?" Y/N laughed. Once they got to the room, Y/N set Jack on the bed and both her and Hotch tucked him in. Y/N smiled before gently kissing the sleeping boy's forehead and whispering, "Goodnight, bud."
Hotch said goodnight to Jack before he and Y/N left the room. They went back to their room and changed into their pajamas before falling into bed. Hotch pulled Y/N against his chest and kissed her forehead.
"You're really good with him," Hotch said after a few moments of silence. "It makes me really happy to see you guys get along so well."
"He's a really good kid, Aaron," Y/N said, smiling up at her boyfriend. She paused for a second before continuing. "Thank you for today. You helped me more than you'll ever know."
"You're welcome, love. I'd do anything for you," Hotch whispered before kissing her lips gently. "Now come on, let's try and get a full night's sleep, yeah?"
Y/N nodded before snuggling into his chest. "I love you, Aaron Hotchner."
Hotch beamed at her before kissing her forehead. "And I love you, Y/N Y/L/N."

Teenage Dreams
The one where someone disrespects Emily and Jack remedies it by punching them in the face.
Read on AO3
Emily was a great Mom.
Despite the fact that they weren't related by blood, she was the only mom he truly ever know. He never really knew his actual Mom since she had died so long ago now. He had snippets of memories, barely threads now since it's been over a decade since she passed, and the stories that his Dad would tell him. About how they first met in the Pirates of Penzance play in high school, how she supported him through law school and the Academy, and how she loved strawberry ice cream and will always love him.
But Emily had always been around, on the sidelines of his soccer games and baseball tournaments, wiping his tears and kissing his bandages when he scraped his knee or slammed his finger in the car door. They had gotten married almost five years ago now and it was only in the last three that Jack had insisted on calling her Mom.
"You're the only Mom I have." He had said when she was stunned into silence as he tested the moniker on his lips on a Wednesday afternoon. He doesn't think he'd ever seen Emily cry so hard before.
The only thing Jack Hotchner didn't really like about his mom, is all the snide comments and half whispers among his friends whenever they came over. He was aware that Emily was beautiful, if the way his Dad always told her was any indication.
It was after school and Mom had come to pick him up after his first soccer practice, his friends quickly starting to elbow each other as his Mom made his way towards them, still dressed from work with her FBI badge hanging off the side of her blazer.
"Hi sweetie." Emily greets. She smiled brilliantly at all his friends, some of whom quickly averted their eyes at the sight of her.
"Hey Mom. These are my teammates." He says, introducing her to the gangly group of teenagers who were either outright staring or doing everything in their power to not make any eye contact.
"I just need to go grab my stuff from the locker room. I'll meet you at the car?" Emily nods, knowing that now that Jack was getting older he was starting to enter the phase where everything his parents did embarrassed him, even if it was just something as simple as picking him up from practice. If Emily were a betting woman, she would wager a large amount of money that Jack wanted her to park down the street so his friends never saw her.
If only she knew exactly why Jack was keeping his friends far away from her.
His friends immediately start whispering to themselves as Emily makes her way back towards the parking lot to wait for Jack.
"That's his mom?"
"Holy shit."
"That is a MILF if I've ever seen one." Jack is quick to shoot an angry glare at his teammate, who at the stern look in Jack's eye, had the decency to look embarrassed before they made their way into the locker room.
Jack could still hear the rumblings among his friends, catching the words sexy and red from the direction of the showers. He tries to block it out, but he can feel the tips of his ears go read as his teammates swapped remarks about their list of hottest Moms and somehow, his own makes it on the list.
He's still bright red when he hops into the car, Mom with a concerned look on her face.
"Are you alright, Jack? You're not catching a fever, are you?" She frowns, checking his temperature with the back of his hand as he swats her away.
"Mom, I'm fine. It's nothing." Emily tuts, Jack's tone toeing the boundary between upset and disrespectful.
"Jack, you know that as a profiler I can tell when you're lying to me, right?" She says, her eyebrow raised and Jack grumbles to himself. Emily smiles at the muttered words, but for her benefit, she asks him to speak up.
"Sorry, what did you say?"
"I said yes ma'am, I am well-aware."
"And you also know that I won't force you to talk about anything unless you want to talk about it?"
A small smile breaks on Jack's lips. Mom never did push him to talk about anything, always just letting him know that she was available when he eventually did want to. Her only condition was that he would talk to her eventually, no matter how long that took. It was one of Jack's favorite things about her, since she could really calm his Dad down when he had that vein bulging from his neck whenever information was withheld from him.
"I'm aware of that too."
"As long as you know." She says, before turning up the radio and singing in an off-tune pitch to the latest pop song on the radio, clearly unaware of the actual lyrics or which key the song is supposed to be in.
Okay, maybe there were two things he didn't like about her.
--
The next time someone makes a comment about his Mom, they make it to Jack's face.
Dennis Smith was one of those kids you'd consider an outcast in school. Always dressed in torn jeans and black, followed by thin cronies who were too afraid to stand-up to the kids who picked on them so they ended up hiding behind a larger bully. He had been taunting Elliot, Jack's lab partner, for the past three weeks. Elliot had run into class that day, his shirt torn and bag half-opened as he rushed to sit next to Jack.
"Dude, what happened?" Jack asked when he spotted the torn pocket and the hastily stuffed belongings in his backpack. Some of his books were wet and if Jack had to guess, they had roughed him up in the boy's bathroom.
"Dennis." Elliot just mumbles, pulling out his notebook and cursing when he realizes that they took his wallet.
No one was going to pick on his friends if he could do something about it.
At least, that's what his Dad taught him.
So when Chemistry ends, he stalks Dennis and finds him bent over a water fountain, his friends chatting away while leaning on the locker next to him. Jack reaches over and taps him on the shoulder, a bewildered expression on Dennis' face.
"What do you want, Hotchner?" He spit out, puffing his chest to make him seem bigger than he actually was. Dennis didn't like him, since he was one of the only ones who wasn't scared of the bully. Jack found it hard to be scared of him, considering the fact that both of his parents were in the FBI and dealt with much scarier things than insecure teenage boys with an anger issue.
Jack crosses his arms, Elliot hiding behind him as he stares Dennis down.
"What's your problem with Elliot?" He asks flatly, interested in getting to the bottom of this. The hallway slowly starts to flood with students exiting their classes and the commotion causes a small crowd to form. In the corner of his eye, Jack can see cellphones being pulled out and aimed right at them.
"My problem is that little pipsqueak told Ms. Gardner that I was cheating." The bully stares directly at Elliot, who cowers further behind Jack despite the fact that Jack was only a few inches taller than him.
"But you were cheating."
"Well, if he learned to mind his own business, then maybe we wouldn't pick on him so much." Jack sizes Dennis up - he notices the muddy state of his shoes and pants that dangle just above his ankles, clearly too short for him. He smells faintly of body odor and some form of energy drink and if Jack had to guess, no one was providing him parental supervision at home.
He was angry, and had no one to direct that anger towards except for a student who was just doing his due diligence.
"Look, Dennis. I get it - your parents don't spend enough time with you, they leave you alone a lot, and you're angry about it. Can't you find something better to do with your time? Like actually studying so you don't need to cheat?"
Dennis flushes bright red and Jack turns and motions for Elliot to follow him. Hopefully, that would be enough to stop them from bullying Elliot. It's only then that he hears what Dennis mutters under his breath.
"Not all of us have a hot ass stepmom to tend to our every need. If I had a stepmom like that-"
Jack's fist connects with his nose, his knuckles flashing in pain at the contact. He feels a white hot rage spark under his skin, directed at anyone who would think to badmouth his family. The crowd gasps as Dennis falls to the floor, clutching his nose and yelping in pain. Jack flexes his knuckles and winces at the dull ache that settled in his joints. He freezes when he hears a familiar voice call out his name.
"Jack Hotchner!" Jack's eyes close and hopes that it isn't who he thinks it is.
He plasters a smile on his face and turns around, hiding his swollen hand behind his back.
"Hi Principal Gibbons."
--
"You are grounded for at least three months." Aaron says, his knuckles white around the steering wheel. It was just his luck that his Dad would be the one to pick him up. Apparently, Mom was off on a case with the BAU and Jack had a feeling she would be more understanding of him breaking Dennis' nose after fifth period.
After all, she was the one who signed him up for self-defense classes.
"What were you thinking Jack? Breaking a kid's nose?" His Dad had been furious upon arriving at the Principal's office. To the normal outsider, he looked calm, but Jack knew the fury that lay underneath. Dad had an excellent poker face and he managed to keep his anger under wraps until they got back into the car.
"He was being a dick."
"Language." His Dad warns and Jack sighs, knowing that swearing probably wasn't going to save him from the thin ice he was already on.
"Look, he was bullying my friend Elliot and I stood up to him."
"So, instead of talking it out, you punched him." Aaron says in disbelief and Jack shakes his head in frustration.
"No, I told him that his parents weren't around and that he was angry, so instead of picking on Elliot, he should just study."
There's a beat of silence.
"You profiled him?" Aaron curses the pride that blooms at the realization, not wanting Jack to get off that easy. After all, he did get suspended for three days and had to visit the school counselor with Dennis upon his return for 'mediation'.
"I did. Then I walked away."
"Then why did you punch him?"
"Because he said something about Emily." Jack's arms cross, his gaze out the window and Aaron sighs. He had been ecstatic when Emily came to him with tears in her eyes because Jack wanted to start calling her Mom. It was a decision that Aaron always left entirely up to Jack, not wanting to force him into feeling like they were replacing Haley since they were getting married. She had always been perfectly fine at being called Emily, not wanting to infringe on Jack's view of Haley. Jack only reverted back to calling her 'Emily' when he wanted to distinguish Emily and Haley.
Aaron lets the silence sit for a minute, his anger deflating. "What did he say?" He eventually asks.
"That not everyone had a hot ass stepmom to tend to their every need."
A different flash of anger runs through Aaron, his grip around the steering wheel tightening a little bit and his knuckles flashing white.
"That's why I punched him. I don't want anyone to talk about Mom like that."
Aaron lets out a breath, the last of his anger dissipating with Jack's words. He had always taught Jack to stand-up for those who couldn't stand up for themselves and he did just that. He stood up for Elliot and he stood up for Emily as well, not tolerating any disrespect for the people he cared about.
"Hot ass stepmom?" Aaron asks, a curious eyebrow raised.
"Oh Dad, you have no idea."
--
Emily comes back home to the angry marks on Jack's hand settling into purple and yellow bruises.
"You did what?"
"He punched a kid at school. He'll be suspended until tomorrow." Emily crossed her arms, disappointment in her expression. "Did this kid attempt to hit you first?"
Jack shook his head, hung low from the stare his Mom was baring into him. Aaron chuckles, rescuing Jack from what he is sure is a tongue lashing with a gentle hand placed on her shoulder.
"He was actually defending a friend." Mom's stance softens ever so slightly and eventually, she uncrosses her arms and sighs.
"As long as it was for the right reasons. But I still don't condone the violence and you're grounded until next week." Jack nods, knowing that it was a lenient punishment considering he spent the last month grounded because he had snuck out to see a girl.
Later, when Jack is in bed, Aaron tells Emily the true reason why he had gotten in trouble. Her heart swells with pride and an absolute adoration for the boy she's watched grow up and felt honored that he would defend her from his peers.
"Hot ass stepmom, huh?" She teases as Aaron bristles. She loved that even after years together, he still got jealous. Many cops and detectives have been the end of the Hotchner glare when he caught them checking her out and somehow, it doesn't surprise her that a few harmless teenage crushes would cause his heckles to rise.
"Oh sweetheart." She coos, snaking her arms around his neck as his hands land on her hips. She doesn't miss the way his grip is just a little tighter and giggles as he grunts in acknowledgement.
"You don't need to worry about a bunch of teenage boys stealing me away."
"Who says I'm worried?"
Emily just laughs, smoothing the frown on his forehead.
"Whatever you say, sweetie."
--
Later that week, when Jack's friends come over before they head to the high school football game, Emily comes home from her run. Her hair is thrown up in a messy bun, her sweat slick on her skin and her running shorts hugging her behind tightly. Aaron walks into the living room to greet her to see two pairs of eyes glued to Emily's form as she walks into the kitchen to get some water.
He throws them a death glare and doesn't fight the smirk on his face when Emily presses a kiss to his lips in greeting.

don’t want no other shade of blue (but you)
rating: t word count: 2431 pairing: jemily bbs, the early days summary: in which we come to know why JJ loves her blue blanket so dearly, why she always wraps it so tightly around herself on the jet

---
"JJ," Emily groaned, pulling the pillow tightly around her ears to block out the blaring noise of JJ's ringtone. "Your phone."
There was a slight grunt in response, but no move to action came from the blonde beside her.
With great effort, Emily rolled over and stretched her arm past her sleeping girlfriend to where JJ's cell lay on the bedside table. She blinked a few times, allowing her eyes to adjust to the bright screen.
"It's Hotch," Emily whispered, placing a hand on JJ’s side. "We gotta get up."
JJ sleepily batted Emily's hand away, and despite the urgency of a call from the BAU at 3am, Emily smiled. How unbelievable it was to her that she had the privilege to call Jennifer Jareau her girlfriend, that they had spent the night simply enjoying every aspect of each other, enough to exhaust JJ into a state of ignoring Hotch's call. Seeing her sleeping soundly in Emily's bed, without a worry in the world, exposed a vulnerable side of the younger agent that she had never been allowed to see until recently.
For a moment, Emily considered answering the phone, if only to make the loud ringing stop, but the implications of that were far too great, and she was not prepared for Hotch to ask questions about Emily and JJ dating. After months of dancing around one another, they had finally settled into the rhythm of a wonderful relationship, and she wanted to keep the chats about professionalism and the inevitable teasing away from the exhilaration of it all for as long as she could.
The call went to voicemail, and a text popped up soon after.
Aaron Hotchner: Case in Augusta, Maine — urgent. Could you gather the team?
"Jayje," Emily tried again, this time shaking JJ's shoulder a bit. "We have a case. In Maine."
"Mmm...too cold."
Emily chuckled. "I know, babe. Next time, I'll tell the serial killers to hunt somewhere warmer, okay?"
"Yes, please," JJ tugged Emily's arm to wrap around her as she snuggled deeper into the covers.
"JJ," Emily protested, but she leaned into the embrace and curled her body around her girlfriend. "You need to call the rest of the team too."
JJ heaved a sigh as she took a moment to untangle herself and sit on the edge of the bed. Emily rose as well and tossed her a shirt from the floor.
"This doesn't fit. It's yours," JJ mumbled as she tugged it on.
"It looks good on you," Emily replied.
"You're not even looking."
With the both of them finally dressed, Emily rose to wash up in the bathroom and glanced at JJ, still seated in the same position. The older agent moved back and wrapped a blanket from the bed around her shoulders, drawing out a hum from her girlfriend at the sudden warmth.
"Wash up and call the team in ten minutes, and I'll let you bring the blanket onto the car," Emily promised with a grin, a bargain that finally motivated JJ to follow her to the bathroom.
---
JJ had passed out immediately during the drive, and Emily almost did not have the heart to wake her when they reached the BAU. She parked the car and took a moment to admire the woman slumbering on beside her, blue blanket drawn closely to her chin as she curled up tightly in the front seat.
The parking lot lights were not the most well-maintained, but in the hours before dawn, Emily could've sworn they were made just to illuminate JJ's sleeping face perfectly.
A loud knock on the window jolted both of them out of their respective dreams, as Emily was greeted by the smiling face and waggling eyebrows of one Penelope Garcia. She waved and held up a tray of coffee cups — an apology in advance for the merciless teasing she was about to unleash on the couple.
"Long night?"
"Give me those," Emily grabbed the coffee from her grinning friend and ignored the comment.
"You lovebirds are getting careless," Penelope tutted. "Spencer will take no time to notice that's not JJ's shirt on her, and soon, the whole team will know our little secret."
"You're only in on this secret because of your cyber-snooping," JJ grumbled, slowly dragging her body and blanket out of the car.
"I wouldn't need to cyber-snoop, if the two of you had just told me in the first place," the tech analyst defended herself.
Emily laughed and shook her head as she began to make her way to the building.
JJ frowned at her phone, still rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. "Hotch said to meet on the airstrip. We're briefing on the jet and headed straight to Maine."
"Must be a serious case."
"Kids," JJ's expression was difficult to read, but Emily knew she was struggling to maintain a steady voice as she read through Hotch's texts. "And an Augusta city council member’s two children are missing after a string of ritualistic homicides."
Without another word, the trio proceeded to the tarmac. Emily's hand dropped from JJ's lower back as they neared, seeing Derek and Spencer turn to face the approaching group.
JJ clutched her girlfriend's folded blue blanket closely to her chest, hoping it would hide the shared shirt from her frustratingly observant coworkers as they gathered to board the jet. If Spencer noticed anything, he remained silent, though the gravity of the case suddenly overshadowed any fear of their relationship being exposed.
Hotch handed out the case folders to each of them. “Thanks for coming in so quickly. Children in Augusta are being abducted in pairs,” he explained. “We have four victims so far, with two more children missing. Local police called us as soon as they recognized the ritualistic nature of the killings.”
“Looks like some sort of staging,” Derek observed, flipping through the crime scene images. “One kid is tied up in a chair, the other killed in front of him.”
Spencer hummed in thought. “But look at the way the head is restrained at that angle. It’s like he’s being forced to watch.”
“When we land, Morgan and Reid head straight to the crime scenes,” Hotch said, not looking up from his case file. “Prentiss and Garcia, I need us looking into victimology, any connections in these families beyond them having two children. JJ, we’re going to need to have a hold on what the press is showing, what with these latest abductions being from such a high profile family.”
JJ nodded, keeping an impressively neutral expression on her face, but Emily caught a glimpse of her shaking hands as she closed the manila file and placed it on the table in front of her.
Despite her concern for JJ, Emily couldn't help but stare lovingly as she bundled up in the blanket once more after the briefing, though the flight to Maine was far too short to make up for all the lost sleep from the night before. She dropped her gaze before the rest of the team could catch her staring, but they seemed too engrossed in the files before them to notice.
---
The cases with children were never easy.
Emily could see it in the way JJ's jaw clenched as they stood before the police department, in the tight nod she gave when Spencer asked if she was okay — how every thought was filled with fear over her own son. She could see the blonde wrestling over the fact that yes, Henry was safe with Will hundreds of miles away, but despite everything she knew to be true, the anxious thoughts remained.
“How are you doing?”
They had finally caught a moment alone, but in the middle of the police precinct, Emily didn’t dare to do more than hand JJ another cup of coffee and place a comforting hand on her arm.
“I'm fine."
She was lying, Emily knew. And JJ knew that Emily knew. But there was too much to unpack in the middle of the case, so she let it drop.
JJ picked nervously at her sweater. "I texted Will, and I'm gonna go pick up Henry for the weekend."
"Okay."
There was an uncertain silence.
"I'm not okay, but I will be."
Emily looked at her girlfriend. JJ was blinking hard, eyes searching for something in the room to fix her gaze and mind on. Emily knew how much it had taken to even admit she wasn’t okay, and in the moment, the older agent could offer only her unshakeable faith in JJ’s courage and a promise to be there for her until she came out the other side.
"I know you will."
---
Every press conference, every interview with the victims' parents, every drive to a new crime scene — each had been another crack in JJ's slowly crumbling facade, even after they’d caught the unsub. And after the exhaustion of hiding it from the public, Emily could see just how close she was to breaking down on the jet in front of her teammates.
JJ took her seat by the window and immediately pulled out the blue blanket, draping it loosely around her shoulders. Beside her, Emily longed to hold her close, pulling JJ's head to her chest, whispering words that everything would be alright until JJ had nothing to fear anymore. Instead she reached over and gave her girlfriend's hand a squeeze, a gesture that could at least be seen as platonic if any team members were watching.
JJ forced a thin smile, then turned away from her towards the window, pulling the blanket close.
Emily could sense JJ’s desire to withdraw and shut down, and she felt helpless against it. JJ's breathing slowed, and anyone who didn't know her the way Emily did would have assumed the blonde was asleep.
The dark-haired agent bit her lip and pulled out her phone, sending a quick text to Will.
Rough case today, could JJ talk to Henry?
Within a few moments of Will's 👍🏻 response, JJ’s phone rang, and Emily watched out of the corner of her eye.
JJ's face twisted into a strange expression of concern at the name on the phone, as though expecting the worst for her own child after the horrors they had witnessed on the case.
"Will?"
"HI MOMMY!"
Emily hid a grin as she heard Henry's cry of delight burst through the phone's tiny speaker.
"Hi Henry," JJ's face lit up, the worries from the case fading.
Despite JJ turning down the volume, Henry’s enthusiastic voice could still be heard rather clearly.
“Yes, I’m all finished working now, so I’ll be coming over to get you soon, okay?”
“Is Emmie coming too?” Henry asked.
Emily’s eyes widened, and she heard Penelope turn a fit of laughter into a horribly fake cough. She buried her head in her hands, refusing to look up and around the plane to see if anyone else had heard the nickname Henry had given her after a particularly wonderful date at the zoo.
“I, uh, I don’t know, bud. Maybe some other time,” JJ said quickly, shooting Emily an apologetic look before changing the subject. “I think it’s almost time for bed. Have you gotten ready?”
“I’m not tired,” came the mumbled reply.
“Well, mommy’s tired,” JJ argued. “What story do you want to hear tonight?”
“The moon one.”
JJ glanced out the window of the jet at the night sky and smiled. “The moon one, okay. This story is about two sisters who loved each other very much. They lived together on a farm out in the countryside with lots of animals…”
Emily watched as JJ chatted quietly with her son, beaming the entire time. Though the case had taken a toll on her, JJ would always cherish the little moments with the ones she loved.
The blonde hung up after Henry's bedtime story and fiddled with the fabric on her lap. "Thank you," she said softly.
Emily smiled back and reached a hand under the blanket to hold JJ's — just a hint of the amount of love she wanted to show, but enough to tide the two of them over for the remainder of the flight.
---
“Are you sure you’re okay? And don’t say you’re fine,” Emily asked, not taking her eyes off the road as they drove home.
There was a long pause.
“I don’t know how to protect him,” JJ said, her voice barely a whisper.
“Henry?”
JJ nodded. “We see the worst things every single day. How can I be okay with exposing him to all this? Doing what the unsub did — forcing him to see and know about death so closely.”
Emily took her eyes off the road for a second to look at her girlfriend. Her eyes were angry, but more than that, they were full of fear for her son. She picked anxiously at the blanket still on her lap.
“It’s not the same at all, JJ. You know that,” Emily reassured her. “We spend every day catching the bad guys, doing what we can to save lives.”
“Does it make a difference?” JJ murmured.
“Jayje, Henry admires you, the courage you have in your job. What you do...it shows him that there’s evil in the world, but it can be fought and overcome.”
Emily could see JJ turning the words over in her mind, pitting them against the lies her own thoughts had conjured of her inadequate parenting.
“He’s lucky to have you,” Emily added. “And so am I.”
JJ looked up and inhaled sharply as they turned the corner to Emily's apartment. "I can wash this blanket and give it back to you tomorrow."
Emily's forehead creased. In front of the team, she had been unable to do anything to ease her girlfriend's anxiety during the difficult case, but she had seen the way JJ wrapped herself in the blanket whenever she could, as though the warmth of the cover was instead a comforting embrace from the older agent.
Emily remained silent until the pair had exited the car and were standing hand in hand in front of the apartment.
"Keep it." After what felt like an eternity of not being able to hold her, Emily wrapped the smaller woman into a tight embrace. JJ's arms curled upwards to grasp at Emily's sweater as she buried her face into her neck. For a moment, the two of them rested in each other's arms, and nothing else mattered.
“Keep it as long as you need to, for all the moments I can’t hold you the way I want to.”

Rogue Thoughts (Spencer Reid x FBI Agent!Reader)
Summary: Soulmates can occasionally hear each other’s thoughts. You happen to hear the thoughts of a fellow FBI Agent while you’re interviewing for a position at the BAU.
Check out the series
Warnings: Some language, but it’s just fluff
Notes: SOULMATE AU MOTHER HECKERS

Masterlist
After nearly 30 years of listening to your soulmate’s thoughts, nothing could surprise you at this point. While most of your friends or family heard relatively normal things from their soulmates before they met, your head consisted of random facts about anything from mental illnesses you’d never heard of to Greek philosophy. Once, you had what you learned to be some of Friedmann’s equations stuck in your head for a week. Despite how little you cared for mathematics, your curiosity had given in eventually and you ended up googling it after 3 days. Whoever your soulmate is, he’s an absolute genius.
Sometimes the thought of just how smart your soulmate is feels a little daunting; You’re not dumb, you have a master’s degree in Criminology and worked for the FBI, but you couldn’t help but wonder if your soulmate would be disappointed when the two of you finally meet. There’s no way of telling which of your thoughts your soulmate had heard from you over the years; maybe he learned about your study of criminals or some of the bad guys you’d managed to catch over the years...or maybe he learned about how you have almost every episode of Friends memorized. Recently, the thoughts you heard have become more frequent. Back when you were a kid, the thoughts you heard could be weeks or even months apart, but as you got older, you heard his thoughts more and more often. Your mom had said that must mean you’re going to meet your soulmate pretty soon; the same thing had happened with her and your father.
“17 interviews and we still don’t have a replacement…”
The thought entered your head for a moment, but flickered away before it completed. “Don’t distract me today, soulmate. I’ve got a job interview.” You thought. Even though you don’t have any control over which thoughts he would hear, you hoped he had gotten your message. You currently worked in Crimes Against Children with the FBI, but after 4 years excelling in that area, one of the higher-ups, Strauss, had suggested applying for the renowned Behavioral Analysis Unit. You had become a profiler of sorts within CAC; when you were in college you had attended multiple lectures on the subject matter. Even though you weren’t officially trained, your bosses all agreed that you had the potential. Plus, the BAU had been down an agent for a while, so today you were meeting with SSA Hotchner.
When you arrived at the FBI headquarters today, instead of heading to your usual building, you went to the building where the BAU was held. Your nerves were getting the best of you as the elevator slowly made its way to the 6th floor, and to make matters worse, your soulmate’s thoughts were flying through your head at an astronomical rate. “I should book a flight to visit mom soon…” “Maybe we’ll finally get a new agent today....” “if Morgan tries to make me do his paperwork one more time…” Clearly, he hadn’t heard your plea to try and keep it down today. Or, he has just about as much control over which thoughts you heard as you did with his. Despite the foreign thoughts filling your head, you tried your best to stay focused as you exited the elevator and made your way towards Hotchner’s office.
As you walked through the room, your eyes were pulled from your destination to the various people sitting at the desks. Or, more specifically, to a certain guy filling out paperwork diligently. “Holy fuck, he’s cute.” You thought. Almost immediately, his head snapped up towards you. “Did he…?” “Wow.” You both thought at the same time. This time, you stopped walking, and he pushed away from his desk to get a better look at you. Your interview had almost completely slipped your mind until you heard someone call your name.
“SSA Y/L/N?” You turned away from the guy, who you were now incredibly intrigued by, to the man you recognized as Aaron Hotchner.
“SSA Hotchner, it’s good to see you again.” You said, giving him a wave. You weren’t a fan of shaking hands, although you were nervous your avoidance of the motion would come off unprofessional. Luckily, Hotchner didn’t seem to mind.
“Please, call me Hotch. My office is just this way, if you’d like to follow me.” Hotch led you to his office, where you took a seat in the chair across from his desk. Luckily, the thoughts from your soulmate - who may or may not be sitting right outside this office - had calmed down, so you had a clear head for your interview.
~~~
“Garcia!” Spencer burst into Garcia’s batcave, shocking the girl. Morgan stood next to her, looking at Spencer like he was insane.
“What’s wrong, pretty boy?”
“I need to know the name of the agent Hotch is interviewing right now.”
“Ok, you could’ve just asked like a normal person instead of giving me a heart attack!” Garcia grumbles, sitting in front of her computer to pull up the information. “Do I at least get a reason as to why you need to know about,” She paused, reading the name that had popped up on her screen, “SSA Y/N Y/L/N?” Spencer leaned down next to Garcia, so he could see the picture of you on the screen.
“Y/N Y/L/N…” The name felt perfect coming from his lips. It was like he never wanted to say another name again
“Reid? Seriously, what's up with this girl? Do you think she’s bad news?” Morgan asked, clearly concerned about Spencer’s actions
“N-no, I, um, I think she’s my soulmate.” Spencer whispered, not really registering what he had said until Garcia’s excited squeals finally tore his eyes away from the computer screen
“Oh my god this is the best thing that’s ever happened! Are you sure? Oh my god I need to do more research! No wait - if you think she’s your soulmate what are you doing in here with us! You need to be with her and fall in love and get married and name your first born after me like yesterday!” Garcia began rambling, grabbing Spencer’s hand and practically dragging him out of her office and back towards the bullpen. She continued talking as they walked over, while Morgan trailed behind with a wide smile on his face.
Prentiss and JJ had been chatting at their desks when Garcia dragged Spencer in. “Code Red, ladies! Spencer Reid met his soulmate and she’s with Hotch right now!” Garcia announced, finally letting go of Spencer’s arm.
“Holy shit!”
“Oh my god, Spence!”
Emily and JJ both gave Spencer a hug, while a blush rose to his cheeks. “I-I don’t know for sure yet. I just, it was like something was pulling me to her. And this time when I heard her thoughts it just felt so…” Spencer was at a loss for words, which was very rare for him. He couldn’t describe this brand new experience.
“Like everything suddenly made sense?” JJ suggested, as the only one in the group who actually knew what the experience of meeting your soulmate was like.
“Yeah.” Spencer nervously began to play with his hands, turning to look at the door. Through the blinds of Hotch’s office, he could just make out where she was sitting. “Good luck.” He tried to send her the thought, knowing that if they really were soulmates, he should have more control over which thoughts she would hear or not. He may have been imagining it, but he swore she saw her figure get less tense through the blinds.
~~~
“Well, Agent Y/L/N, you’re certainly one of the best candidate’s I’ve interviewed so far. I know you still have an active case to finish with CAC, but once that’s resolved we’d love to have you transfer over here to the BAU.” Hotch said with a small smile.
“Thank you so much, Hotch! My current case is almost wrapped up, so I should be able to officially transfer within the next week or so.” You said with a smile. The both of you stood from your chairs, and Hotch opened his office door for you. Immediately, your eyes found the man again, and you found he was already looking at you.
“Did you want to meet the rest of the team? Clearly, they’ve all decided it’s social hour anyways.” Hotch suggested, clearly not too pleased with the group that was very clearly not doing any work at the moment. He had mentioned that the team didn’t have a case right now, but you were sure there was still plenty of paperwork to get though.
“Yes! Please.” You said, maybe a little too enthusiastically. Even though you did want to be on good terms with the whole team, right now the only person you cared about was the man in the cardigan.
“Guys, this is SSA Y/N Y/L/N, she’ll be joining us here at the BAU soon. Y/L/N, this is SSAs Derek Morgan, Emily Prentiss, Jennifer Jareau, and Dr. Spencer Reid. Penelope Garcia is our technical analyst, and SSA David Rossi should be around here somewhere-”
Hotch was practically cut off by Penelope, who immediately pulled you in for a hug. You did your best to hide your discomfort, but you had always been a bit of a germaphobe.“Oh my God it’s so lovely to meet you, we’re all so excited for you to join our little family…” Penelope began to ramble as she pulled away from the hug, which you found endearing.
“Is she like this all the time?” You thought.
“Yes. You’ll get used to it.” Your eyes immediately move to Spencer’s. Dr. Spencer Reid.
“I’m sure I will. Don’t know if I’ll get used to talking in our minds though.” You think. You were completely tuned out of the conversation the other Agents had started, now focusing only on Spencer.
“Well, studies show that transitioning to life with a soulmate can be jarring, but not because of discomfort of hearing thoughts. It usually takes couples a long time to learn how to turn it off, which can result in soulmates getting to know each other’s secrets rather quickly. That’s why nearly 38% of soulmates will break up within a few months of starting a relationship, although it should be noted that 87% of those that break up will end up getting back together at some point in their lives.” Spencer’s thoughts began racing, and you suddenly understood all the random facts you had learned from him over the course of your life. As he told you the facts and figures of soulmates breaking up - not the best subject for a pair of soulmates that just met, but you didn’t mind - you noticed that the rest of the team had stopped talking and were now just watching you and Spencer converse in your heads.
“That probably explains why we’re talking with our thoughts instead of out loud. And why your team is staring.” Spencer’s cheeks reddened when he looked away from you and realized you were right.
“Honestly, I forgot they were there. Which is rare for me, I have an eidetic memory.” You laughed aloud at his remark, earning more confused looks from everyone else.
“Sorry, guys, I guess we got a little...distracted.” You spoke aloud for the first time in a few minutes. Spencer moved closer to you, his hand itching to take yours.
“Oh, please, don’t apologize, I was the same way with Will after we met. I know how overwhelming it can be at first.” Jennifer waved off your worries, and extended a hand towards you, “You can call me JJ, by the way.”
“Oh, um, I don’t really shake hands, I’m a bit of a germaphobe.” You worried once again about coming off as rude, but this remark only made JJ, and the rest of the team laugh.
“Wow, you two really are soulmates, aren’t you.” Derek remarked, swinging his arm over Penelope’s shoulder as he spoke.
“I’m the same way.” Spencer explained to you, “It’s actually safer to kiss.”
“I’m sure we’ll put that to the test when we’re alone.” You didn’t think it was possible, but Spencer’s face became even more red after your thought entered his own head.
