Hello po, Kuya Ireland! I'm doing great this evening, although it's been a tiring Monday! I'm glad that the guys in the video you watched enjoyed both your and my breakfasts! "Silog" stands for "sinangag" (fried rice) + "itlog" (egg, usually sunny side up for silogs), pero I'm sure that this was mentioned already in the video you've watched! My favorite versions are definitely tapsilog and hotsilog, they have tapa (dried/cured beef) and hotdog respectively!

I haven't had Irish breakfast yet, pero I've eaten English breakfasts before and Google's AI summary said they have some similarities. But I'm sure that your breakfast is better! After all, Kuya Arthur is notorious for having bland food!

Maybe I could try some of your cooking? I haven't tried any kind of Irish food yet, and I don't really know that much about Ireland, but I've always been curious and your country seems so cool! Thanks for the ask, Kuya! @ask-hws-eire

Breakfast Food No. 1 - Hotsilog

Hotsilog is a meal composed of hotdogs, garlic fried rice, and fried egg. In a Filipino household, this is commonly eaten for breakfast with a condiment of banana ketchup and some pickled shredded papaya (atchara) on the side. Red juicy hotdogs are used to make hotsilog.

First on our list: the Philippines hot dog! According to the chart, it has a “bright red notched dog served with banana ketchup, rice, fried egg (no bun)”. Let’s plate it up a bit as part of the prep:

Plain, right? I did my research and this is supposed to be hotsilog, which at its essence is notched hot dogs, garlic fried rice (sinangag), an egg and maybe some sauce- soy sauce if you must. It’s also more commonly served as breakfast. Let’s make this with some sinangag:

There we go! This was pretty good. I can see why Filipinos eat this for breakfast. I followed a sinangag recipe that told me to make the rice more crunchy, but I’d prefer to heat the rice through next time. It went well with the other components, especially with the egg. The hot dogs were good, fairly rich, and went well with the banana ketchup. The banana ketchup consistency wasn’t quite what I expected, especially with the texture being so different, but it really didn’t taste that different from our ketchup on a hot dog.

Now, this meal isn’t the only way the Philippines uses hot dogs- there’s also Filipino spaghetti. I followed a reduced version of this recipe from here. Here it is:

This was pretty good. Think Bolognese sauce with hot dogs and ketchup, but it just works.

Omelette rice for Cheren, with Tamato berries

Bianca likes most breads, like cinnamon rolls, croissants, jam filled breads, etc. Likes meat buns in BW2 since they're good to eat while traveling/researching

Hilda likes instant noodle soups with lots of toppings she picked up while traveling. Mostly mushrooms and canned meat

Hugh likes porridge and congee. Nate's mom also taught him how to make champorado if he wants something sweet <3 He tends to make it with Sweet Hearts

Rosa is a pasta girl. She insists on making her own pasta to bring around while they travel (explaining this in full detail to Yancy, who is horrified when she takes the dough out of her bag), but also. She likes spaggheti-o's

N likes sandwiches in general. He would love Paldea.
