Chapter 3: The Aftons
Word Count: 1030
CWs: Alcohol consumption, briefly implied child abuse

Working as a janitor at Fredbear's Family Diner was about what Norman had expected. Busy, sweaty work that subjected him to less than pleasant sights and smells, but at least he was finally starting to feel at home in this less-than-familiar town. Nothing was like it once was when he had visited as a child. Fredbear's certainly hadn't existed, among other things. Friday came before he had even mentally prepared himself for dinner with such an obviously upper-class family.
Standing at the white picket fence and staring up at the gorgeous, light purple house, Norman felt starstruck. A small mansion in his own neighbourhood, and all he had inherited was a fixer-upper. He wore his church clothes, a simple white button-down with thin, black pinstripes, black pants, and loafers. He had seen a nice cardigan in the local thrift store and now kicked himself for not purchasing it. Knowing there was no turning back once he opened the gate, he pressed forward. William's words echoed in his head. You’re too hard on yourself… Trust me.
When he rang the doorbell it seemed to jolt him into the reality of the situation. The door shortly opened and a bony woman with a dishwater blonde bob stood there. She wore a dark red sweater and a knee-length houndstooth skirt, along with a bright, plastic smile.
“You must be Norman, please, come in.”
“Thank you…” Norman stepped into the entryway. Warm lighting and shimmering mahogany reflected in the lens of his glasses. “You must be Mrs. Afton.”
The woman continued smiling as she offered her hand, palm down and displaying a gaudy ruby wedding ring. “Margarete.”
Norman swallowed nervously as he took it and gently shook, making Margarete's expression crack with slight confusion. “Charmed.”
Before abundant awkwardness could take hold, William appeared to Norman's left, much to his relief.
“I see you've met the misses. But this is no place to talk, come, have a pre-dinner drink in the living room.” William briefly squeezed Norman's shoulder, prompting him to move. He nodded and followed, his mind soon catching up with him. She probably expected you to kiss her hand. He shuddered slightly at the thought.
“Cold, Norman?”
“No, I-I'm fine.”
The living room was even more gorgeous than what Norman had seen previously. Every wooden surface was polished, and every fabric appeared plush. A record player in the corner crackled out a faint jazz tune as William busied himself at an ornate liquor cabinet.
“Please, sit.”
“Right.” Norman sat on the far end of their couch and nearly found himself swallowed by it. “What a lovely home…”
“You can thank my wife for that, mostly, though it's an eternal battle to keep her from rearranging the place every month.”
Margarete, who had just joined the two men, scoffed and batted her hand at her husband before settling onto a pale leather ottoman. “He's exaggerating, Norman.”
William hummed. “What can I interest you in, hm? Whiskey? Wine? Champagne?”
“Red or White?”
“Both. I could also make you a cocktail if you'd prefer.”
Norman sighed. “Y'know, I'm such a lightweight…”
“How about a wine spritzer, then? Part wine, part seltzer water.”
“That sounds great, thanks.”
“Margarete?”
“Red wine.” As William prepared the drinks, she set her piercing gaze on Norman. “So, enjoying work?”
Norman opened his mouth to respond, only to be interrupted by the crashing of a back door. “Excuse me one moment.” Margarete swiftly stood, bustling out of the room.
“Expecting someone else?” Norman asked idly. William sighed as quietly as he could.
“Best not to worry about it.”
This confused him, but he didn’t press on.
“Muuum, Evan won't-” A high-pitched voice came whining through the air, accompanied by the presence of a girl in a frilly pink dress. She covered her mouth when she noticed Norman. “I'm sorry, I didn’t realize our guest was here already.”
William perked up, glancing over his shoulder. “Elizabeth. Norman, this is my daughter.”
“Nice to meet you!” The little girl beamed and curtsied, making Norman smile.
“You as well.”
William handed Norman his drink. “There we are, one wine spritzer. Margarete will hopefully be back shortly. In the meantime, Evan won't what, darling?”
“Get ready. He says the sweater you picked out for him tonight is itchy and that he doesn't want to sit next to Michael.”
Just what he needed tonight. His own stubbornness reflected back at him in the actions of his children. “Well, why don’t you tell him he won't be getting any dessert if he isn't down here when I say. I'll… see what I can do about Michael, though even he knows the consequences of behaving indecently in front of our guests.”
Elizabeth nodded before skipping off. Norman quietly sipped his spritzer as William poured himself some whiskey.
“I-I don't mean to criticize your parenting techniques, but don't you think that's a bit harsh?”
“Mmm. If you only knew how my own father treated me, you'd think me a saint, Norman.” William chuckled dryly and raised his glass in a silent toast.
“I'm sorry…”
“No need.”
“I don't know where that boy gets it from!” Margarete seethed as she reentered the living room. “Where’s my wine?”
“Margarete,” William snapped through gritted teeth, staring daggers at her uncouth arrival and hoping Norman wouldn't notice his annoyance with her. He set aside his drink and finished pouring the wine, handing it to her as she resumed her seat on the ottoman.
“Forgive her,” William spoke soothingly to Norman, “our eldest son drives her up a wall. Teenagers.”
“I remember when I was like that,” Norman reminisced. “They get over it eventually.”
“I would sure hope so,” Margarete sniffed, gulping down her wine. William subtly worked to grab her attention, then gestured back to the hall. She nodded and stood.
“Margarete and I need to discuss something alone, do you mind…?”
Norman waved his hand dismissively. “Not at all. I’ll be here when you get back.”
William could almost feel himself getting a toothache from how sweet Norman constantly was. It was a hard thing to realize when he was about to engage in his least favourite subject; talking about his delinquent son.

Popular new best fashion styles
Tumblr media
Over the past few years, significant developments in print have had a significant impact on the field of design. Whether they are made through intricate patterning or a restricted colour palette, prints and patterns have always been adaptable and dynamic design components. We examine some of the most popular print trends in this post to help you stay up to date with print design trends.
The intricate art and culture of the era are highlighted by the clothing. The elaborate carpets, geometrical artwork, horseshoe arches, paisleys, honeycomb vaults, and rose windows, to name a few, are examples of the countless Persian rugs, creative, architectural, and design contributions made during Ottoman dominion. The royal and luxurious motifs usually employ symmetrical patterns.
Wild animals’ skin patterns correspond to their stripes, spots, and scale patterns. There are ways to delicately include patterns like zebra, snake, and leopard without standing out significantly. Practically all artistic and creative endeavours benefit from the utilisation of Animal skin patterns.
Floral Print and patterns feature a wide array of flowers. Floral patterns can be small and simple or big and complicated. They could be one colour or numerous colours. They are enjoyable to use as patterns because they provide so much diversity.
Humans are naturally drawn to patterns, thus when used properly, Patterns images visuals may be quite effective at capturing your audience’s attention. When there are patterns in photographs, they are more appealing. Patterns often have a better artistic quality because they are abstract. Additionally, they radiate a calming, rhythmic energy.
Triangles, squares, and trapezoids are some of the shapes that can be seen in geometric pattern and print. They could be more complexly abstract or more repetitive. A two-colour, repeating geometric design is called a houndstooth.
We are all aware that fashion trends may be both cyclical and reflective of the current generation’s popular culture. Young people currently love graphic t-shirts with Pop art print and other fashionable items.

prompt thursday--Suit!
Every week, the Rivetra writer discord has a prompt day (or more!) and today's word was Suit. This is technically part of the staring at the sun universe, but no need to read it to understand!
Summary: Petra needs to buy a new outfit for an upcoming TED talk and brings Levi along.
Rating: G
Word Count: 644
“How about this one?” Petra asked, stepping out from the dressing room and spun around slowly.
“Levi, take a step back, I can’t see her entire body!” Nifa exclaimed, crossing her arms over the phone. Levi grumbled as he sat up from the bench and switched the camera view to the back facing camera.
“How did I end up as the camera man?” He asked out loud, circling Petra so that Nifa could have a 360 view.
Nifa shook her head and continued to provide her input. “You need something sexier, Petra. This isn’t TEDx, this is the real TED! Millions of people are going to see you on Youtube, you have to stand out!”
Petra laughed, stepping back into the dressing room as she slid the curtain shut. “That’s if people are going to be watching, Nifa. Who knows, I could flop and it will be buried underneath the other millions of academic videos no one cares about.”
Nifa’s voice was muffled as Petra undid her current outfit, and she poked her head out of the curtain. “And besides, I don’t know if I want to look sexy; this is a professional event.”
Levi heartily nodded in agreement, flipping the camera view to his disgruntled face. “Stop encouraging her,” he ordered Nifa, and she just giggled, bringing the camera view to Mike who was sitting beside her on the beach.
Levi muttered to Mike, with whom he had become pretty good friends with over the last few months, that his girlfriend was brainwashing Petra since she had plenty of other acceptable clothes to choose from.
Too busy asking Mike to muzzle his girlfriend, Levi didn’t realize Petra had stepped out from the changing room, wearing something very different than before. Heels clicking, Petra planted herself in front of Levi with a pair of army green high waisted pants, a button down white shirt with a black camisole and black suspenders crossing behind her back.
“Uh…” Levi gulped, quickly forgetting that he was on video call with Nifa and Mike as the phone dropped from his hand and landed onto the bench with a thud.
“You like?” Petra asked, snapping the suspenders against her chest and Levi deliciously noted how it emphasized her tits.
Stepping closer, Levi resisted the urge to take her back to the changing room to admire her further, but they were interrupted by Nifa’s yell, “Hey Ackerman, let me see!”
Petra immediately went for the phone, holding it an arms length away from her as Nifa offered her opinion.
“Yeah, you’re right, it’s a little too intimidating for me. I’d like to wear it for another occasion though,” she decided.
Levi cleared his throat, noticing that Petra was about to change again. “Hey Petra? Can you take a picture of yourself in that before you change?” And quieter, he added, “And can you send it to me?”
Nifa erupted into furious laughter from the phone as Petra minimized the video window and snapped a picture. “I’m airdropping it to you now,” she called, setting the phone back down on the ottoman.
“Okay, final outfit!” She called to Levi, and she sashayed out, jutting out a hip as she smiled. Similar to her last pair of pants, except this time it was a matching brown houndstooth blazer, she paired it with a black v-neck crop top underneath. “This is the one!” She declared, happy that she finally settled on an outfit, and before Levi could protest, she picked up her phone to show Nifa who squealed in equal excitement.
The minute Petra stepped off the stage, Levi grabbed her from behind the curtain and kissed her hungrily as he pawed off her blazer. Trailing kisses from behind her ear, to her neck, then above her heart, he said into her chest, “Want to see what I can do in 18 minutes?”*
*This in reference to the fact that TED talks can't be more than 18 minutes long, lol

R&B duo (and real-life sisters) Chloe and Halle Bailey have unparalleled talent and an unbreakable bond. With a “sexy, darker” new sound and exciting solo projects on the way, the multihyphenates are all grown up and ready for their second act — both together and on their own. "You. Look. Stunning!" Halle Bailey watches as her older sister Chloe poses in a faux-leather Nanushka trench coat against a vibrant background of red and pink, Kelis's album Tasty blaring through the studio. Halle's eyes dart between the shots popping up on the monitor and the real-life vision that is 21-year-old Chloe, who smirks at her sister's instructions to "slay" and "work" as they echo in the cavernous studio. Chloe returns the favor when it's 19-year-old Halle's moment in front of the lens; being photographed separately is a rare occurrence for the pair. Chloe cheers Halle on as the latter poses in a houndstooth Area dress, nipped at the waist with a patent leather belt, and matching knee-high boots: "That's gorgeous! You're beautiful." When Chloe and Halle arrive at Milk Studios in Hollywood for our cover shoot on Oct. 29, the energy is celebratory; they are fresh from the set of the Freeform series Grown-ish. Chloe and Halle graduated from recurring roles on the Black-ish spinoff to series regulars for season two, playing college students and track star twins Jazz and Sky Forster. They — along with cast members Yara Shahidi, Trevor Jackson, Francia Raisa, and Luka Sabbat — just wrapped filming on the third season, which premieres Jan. 16. The next installment of the show promises an unplanned pregnancy, an acting debut from Kylie Jenner's former BFF Jordyn Woods, and a much-appreciated homage to Beyoncé's 2018 Homecoming performance. It's also a busy time for Chloe x Halle's music: in 2019 they dropped two singles, "Who Knew" and "Thinkin Bout Me," and are putting the finishing touches on their highly anticipated second studio album, Ungodly Hour, which drops this year. They are buzzing while talking about their new, more mature sound. "It's more grown; it's sexy, it's darker," Halle tells me. She and her sister showed up in laid-back looks before undergoing superhero-style transformations in a curtained-off section of the studio, where they snacked on chips and guacamole and drank green juice while trying on dozens of potential designer outfits. They are sweet and petite, and during a break from the photo shoot, they sit side by side on a velvet ottoman across from me. Both are wearing curve-hugging dresses by Dion Lee and have traded their matching Alevì Milano heels for slippers and slides. Chloe and Halle are defining themselves individually even more than before, and their style is part of that. Throughout the day, Halle will rock playfully sexy ensembles (my personal favorite is a Carrie Bradshaw-esque Maison Margiela button-down shirt cinched with a Zana Bayne belt). Chloe's outfits are equally grown-up and sexy, but with an edgy sophistication — she will channel Olivia Pope, smizing in a camel-colored Fendi trench coat and graphic Sophia Webster heels. Their looks will always complement each other but still reflect the woman wearing them. Their eyes are wide, their mocha skin glistening, braids cascading down their backs. The mood feels highly melanated and highly favored. Chloe and Halle's connection goes beyond the typical sibling bond — they are collaborators, costars, and best friends. It's what makes the stakes of this next stage of their career, as they explore a more adult sound and divergent career opportunities of their own, so high. To see them posing together is like watching a delicately choreographed dance. It's as if they each instinctively know which way the other is about to lean her arm or turn her head and will shift congruously. Between shots, Chloe and Halle smooth each other's braids, bump shoulders to the bass of "Milkshake," or talk in hushed tones. Chloe is the textbook older sister and ultimate hype girl ("The angel that's always in my ear," Halle tells me). "We'll always squeeze each other's hands or look in each other's eyes and crack a joke," Chloe says, admitting that they both sometimes feel anxious while posing on the red carpet or for photo shoots like this one. I recognize their subtle movements, exchanged glances, and seemingly secret language; it reminds me of the way that my sister and I — and sisters everywhere, really — exist in our own universe. Chloe and Halle spent their childhood in Atlanta before moving to LA, where they reside today with their parents Courtney and Doug and their 14-year-old brother, Branson ("We're the Three Musketeers," Chloe says). In 2011, they launched their YouTube channel with an impressive cover of Beyoncé's "Best Thing I Never Had." Wearing matching red tank tops and bouncy braided bobs, they showed off melodies reminiscent of vocalists well beyond their years (Chloe was 13, Halle just 11). They would go on to cover hits from John Legend, Alicia Keys, Lorde, and Rihanna. In 2015, their rendition of Beyoncé's "Pretty Hurts" got the attention of Bey herself, and she signed the duo to her Parkwood Entertainment management company. And, as they tell me, being the protégés of a megastar like Beyoncé is a masterclass in ambition. "She's a boss and she takes care of her own," Chloe says. "She's independent and knows what she wants, and she's not afraid to articulate that." They employ their mentor's take-charge attitude by trusting their instincts when making tough career choices. "That's what we truly admire about Beyoncé . . . she's allowed us to grow in our own right, and as much as she is vocal, she lets us fly on our own." Up until now, Chloe x Halle's sound has been bright, ethereal R&B soul; they released their debut EP Sugar Symphony in 2016, followed by a critically praised mixtape, The Two of Us. Their 2018 album The Kids Are Alright — with jazz-inflected trap-pop songs like "Happy Without Me," "Everywhere," and the Grown-ish theme song "Grown" — showcased their angelic harmonies, earning them Grammy nominations for best new artist and best urban contemporary album. They solidified their place in history with a chill-inducing performance of "America the Beautiful" at the 2019 Super Bowl. But with age comes experience and, yes, growth. The new Chloe x Halle era will reflect their sisterhood and the kind of women they aspire to be: powerful, strong, and effortlessly sexy. "We're not little kids anymore," Chloe tells me. Their sound has evolved from light and airy soul-pop into "edgier, grittier" R&B, like something you'd want to hear during an episode of Euphoria. They teased new music during an "electric, intense, and fun" performance at The Forum in LA late last year. "We played two new songs; 'Do It' — that's one of our favorites — and 'Rest of Your Life,'" Halle tells me during a phone conversation after the shoot. She describes both tracks as being high energy with party vibes. While Ungodly Hour will be a clear departure, the sisters seem to be more musically aligned than ever. Chloe and Halle say there's no formula to their music-making process. "We feel like that takes away any creativity," Chloe explains. They went delightfully old school for brainstorming sessions, filling two or three poster boards with magazine cutouts representing what the new project should feel like. Before creating music, they keep things breezy by having "tea time and girl chat" and narrowing down the themes they want to write about. "I'll make a beat and Halle will hear some really sick melodies and go on the mic and record them," Chloe says. "I'll lay some melodies down and splice [them] together, and then we do lyrics, but we never force it." Halle nods. "It's much like throwing paint on a wall and seeing what happens, and that's the beauty of it." When I ask how they landed on the album title Ungodly Hour, Halle tells me that it came from a single studio session with English electro artists Disclosure. "They are two brothers, and they're literally like mirrors of us," Halle says of duo Howard and Guy Lawrence, who they worked with on the up-tempo title track. "[Ungodly hour] was a phrase for that riff. We kind of spoke it into existence, you could say," Chloe continues. She reveals that one of their early mood boards included the phrase "The Trouble With Angels" (possibly a nod to the 1966 religious comedy starring Hayley Mills?), and notes how exciting it's been to tie those themes together. I spent hours holed up in my childhood bedroom plastering editorial images on any available surface, so it's nice to hear that some methods will never go out of style. But let's not get it twisted: Chloe and Halle aren't two girls making cute collages — they're artists with a precise vision and the talent to execute it. Their technique is free-flowing, but there's a keen attention to detail that influences those working with them. Singer-songwriter Victoria Monét, who helped pen chart-toppers for Fifth Harmony and Ariana Grande, collaborated with Chloe and Halle on Ungodly Hour. She confirmed my theory that they are Black girl magic personified. "I really admire their spirit," Monét said over email. "They feel amazing to be around, and their voices represent that." "They're so hands-on with everything, from melodies to lyrics and production," Nija Charles said over email. The 22-year-old songwriting phenom produced hits for Cardi B and Summer Walker and worked on the sisters' sensual kiss-off "Forgive Me." "Watching them work always makes me go back home and want to perfect my craft." Hands-on is certainly one way to describe the sisters, who play a role in writing, arranging, producing, and playing instruments on nearly all of their own music. What does it mean to two young, gifted, and Black businesswomen to have so much creative control of their work? "Since we were young, our parents instilled in us the power to do things on our own, and not rely on people if [we're] just as capable," Halle says. This encouragement is what motivated them to learn instruments and produce their own music as preteens. Although extraordinary on their own, Chloe and Halle are quick to praise those who have inspired them along the way. I can tell they harbor a deep sense of sisterhood within their own circle, a tight-knit group of family and close friends with the occasional superstar thrown in. It's galvanizing for them to see other young stars doing equally amazing things. "I stan over Zendaya. I love her, and Normani," Chloe says, beaming. "There are so many amazing women right now, and I'm just happy to be a part of this generation with them." Halle agrees, shouting out Grown-ish castmates Yara Shahidi, Francia Raisa, and Emily Arlook as women who uplift them when they're low. The feeling is mutual for 19-year-old Shahidi, who told me being part of Chloe and Halle's atmosphere is "truly a gift." "We share successes, challenges, frustrations, everything!" Shahidi said in an email. "I define sisterhood as an eternal bond with your best friend," Halle tells me. "I'm so fortunate that I get to do this with my sister every day." She looks up to Chloe more than anyone else; after all, as an older sibling, there's a responsibility (and sometimes pressure) to protect, guide, and set a good example. But Chloe is just as heart-eyed about Halle and lights up when talking about her. "Forget all the business stuff and the music and acting; this is my best friend," she says. "Whenever we're apart for 15 minutes, we're like, 'I miss you!' We're texting each other, FaceTiming. I love this one." I make a mental note to respond to unread texts from my sister. "You'll need each other one day" is something I heard a lot growing up, especially when being reprimanded for terrorizing my younger sister. And it occurs to me that Halle and Chloe might need each other even more this year. In 2020, they are each embarking on big solo projects: Chloe in the supernatural thriller The Georgetown Project, her first major movie role as an adult, and Halle as Ariel in the upcoming live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid. For Chloe, a self-professed scaredy cat, working on the "sophisticated horror film" with the likes of Russell Crowe, Ryan Simpkins, Samantha Mathis, and David Hyde Pierce has been a real game changer. "When I got the script, I fell in love with it. I was like, 'I have to do this,'" Chloe tells me. The movie follows a troubled actor (Crowe) who unravels while filming a thriller, and Chloe plays an actress cast alongside him in the project. She learned a lot about herself during the production process, but more importantly, she conquered her fear of scary movies. "I know how it works behind the scenes, so now when a scary movie trailer comes on, I don't close my eyes." When the topic turns to The Little Mermaid, Halle's enthusiasm is palpable. "It's so overwhelming, and beautiful, and breathtaking. I'm like, 'Wow, am I really doing this?'" she tells me. When I ask what she hopes to bring to such an iconic character, Halle takes a beat. "Freshness," she says. "Just being authentically me. It's amazing that the directors have been so forward in asking me to show my true self . . . that's been a really fun growing experience." Halle also tells me that she's most looking forward to the music ("Of course!"), and reveals that the movie will feature classics like "Part of Your World" and new songs written by composer Alan Menken, who scored the 1989 animated film. "I've been a fan of The Little Mermaid since I was 5, so those new songs are very exciting to me, as well as the old," Halle says. "That's probably like, ding, ding, ding! My number one." Halle's history-making casting news was announced in July 2019 and marked a major win for diversified representation, but drew criticism from those who don't think a Black woman should play a fictional sea creature. The defense came swiftly: Little Mermaid director Rob Marshall and Jodi Benson, the original voice of Ariel, showed support, as did Beyhive members worldwide. After spending a day in her presence, I can corroborate that Halle — with her doe eyes, dulcet-tone voice, and winsome charm — was born to play the role. I ask how she approaches the downsides that can come with celebrity. "It's beautiful that people are tuning in to our lives and that they love what we're doing, and I just think of them as friends," she says, unfazed. Chloe's older-sister senses are tingling. She sits up a little straighter. "You know when certain apps crash?" I do; a Twitter blackout is secretly one of my favorite things. "Who are you without these things, without your followers? You realize that you can't rely on outside validation for who you are as a human being. If I think I'm amazing, then I'm amazing." The sisters have flourished in the industry as Chloe x Halle the duo, two halves of a preternaturally talented whole. They appear at events together, maintain joint social media accounts, and don’t have separate Wikipedia pages (though that’s certainly going to change). They’re a dream team, navigating fame by leaning on each other. Working separately allows them to stretch as individuals, but as their careers evolve, it’s inevitable that their relationship will, too. Chloe seems genuinely joyful watching Halle grow into her own. “I see it happening right before my eyes and it makes me really happy,” she says. But those feelings of pride haven't come without a bit of loneliness, too — especially as Chloe films her first solo project. "In the beginning I was really, really sad," she tells me. There have been plenty of tears and, according to Chloe, plenty of text messages, too. "[Halle] texts all the time; daytime, all the time," Chloe laughs. "To have someone who's always in your corner encouraging you, and making you feel better when you're down . . . it's just such a good feeling. I'm just happy to have her as my partner in crime in life." Naturally, it’s also been “a little scary” for Halle, who admits that she’s been clinging to her sister over the years. Just as Chloe is the consummate firstborn, Halle fits snugly into her role as little sis, always looking to her “safety blanket.” She tells me that visiting Chloe on the set of The Georgetown Project gave her a new perspective. "I was just so proud of her, because you always want to see your beautiful sister succeed," Halle says. "We always do those monumental things together, so when I was able to be on the outside and look in, it was really cool." Ultimately Halle realized that — like gluing magazine cutouts to poster boards — some things don’t have to change: “Regardless of if I'm branching out, she's always going to be there. That bond and our sisterhood will never go away.” Though some things may be mapped out — production schedules, release dates, fishtail fittings — so much more lies ahead for Chloe and Halle. I ask where they see each other in five years. Halle springs up; she sees Chloe with every award in the book. “She’s going to flourish. What do you call it? EGOTs?” Chloe’s five-year vision includes even more plastered photos, but this time they’re of Halle, and they’re on giant billboards across the world. “I’ll be hearing her voice [singing] while walking down the street like, ‘Who is that? Oh yeah, that's my sister. I know her. You don't,’” she says. The three of us laugh, but their predictions aren’t out of the realm of possibility. Their Grown-ish costars agree: actor Trevor Jackson tells me he hopes to see them collecting armfuls of trophies and “truly dominating the world.” Shahidi insists Chloe and Halle’s hard work knows no bounds and remembers them simultaneously filming season one of Grown-ish and mixing their debut album, The Kids Are Alright. “The sky is not even the limit,” she cosigned. Chloe and Halle have more to shoot before the sun sets in smoky LA. It's been a long day, but their energy is still straight-up sparkly. We wrap up our conversation, exchanging thank yous before they disappear to the wardrobe area. They'll model more effortlessly sexy pieces from Nina Ricci and Fendi, cheerleading each other during lighting changes and eye shadow touch-ups, before the day gives way to night. As the sky changes, so does the vibe. Chloe is jetting off to North Carolina to film tomorrow morning without her sister, and they seem to be soaking up this moment in time. Things are coming to a close both on set and in their lives, chapters ending and new ones beginning. But no matter what comes next — together or separately, making music or making moves — Chloe and Halle will keep throwing paint at the wall and seeing what beautiful things come out of it. There's no magic formula. It's just what we sisters do. ★

Textural Interior Smoothed By Curves & Classic Arches
Slatted panels and natural stone bring deep and luxurious texture to this chic modern home design, visualised by ArtPartner Architects. The textural decor is smoothed by curvaceous furniture lines and graceful classic arches within the high ceilinged architecture. Large living spaces exude elegance under a delicate tonal colour palette of warm beiges and soft browns. Copper accents add a rich and lustrous element inside the captivating kitchen design, where a stone island lays down a solid anchor in front of a kitchen run that’s concealed behind slatted doors. The textural theme is consistent throughout, with lined feature walls crisply counteracting curves at every beautiful turn of the sumptuous living area and impressive master bedroom.
A curved sofa embraces the lounge perimeter with a sweep of soft fawn brown. A matching modern lounge chair and ottoman dot circular accompaniments.
In front of the curved sofa, a round coffee table creates a core for the loose furniture layout. A circular chandelier takes the curved shape theme to the ceiling.
Modern wall sconces are paired vertically behind the sofa to fashion a decorative column of gentle atmospheric light. A contemporary lamp sits low by the armchair to distribute an even glow.
The large modern chandelier makes the most of the impressive ceiling height in the living room. Surface mounted spotlights ensure practical, wide-spread illumination.
A natural, woven area rug softens the wood laminate floor.
The TV wall includes a bespoke wall mounted bookcase that reveals only glimpses of the home library from behind dark wood slatted doors.
A luxe marble hearth runs the length of the room, with a small modern fireplace flickering neatly at just one end of its sleek stone surface.
A wall mounted OLED TV takes pride of place dead centre between the floating bookcases.
The dining room is a chic, sophisticated arrangement with a delicate palette of fawn and grey. Light brown upholstered dining chairs encircle a cool stone dining table with moments of visual warmth.
A round dining room chandelier reaches wide across the width of the large dining table.
The rounded silhouette of the dining room chandelier and the curved back dining chairs complement a row of classic arched windows. Venetian window blinds fall in front of the arched glass, where they cause an interesting criss-cross effect against a surrounding wall of ribbed panelling.
An attractive botanical centrepiece adds a touch of wild to the refined dining set. Feathery plumes of Pampas grass make a tonal link with the brown upholstered dining chairs.
Unique flatware issues the tabletop with a fresh white setting.
The kitchen is a captivating space set beneath a high sloping ceiling with large velux windows, which rain copious amounts of natural light.
The light from the velux windows is perfectly positioned to play upon two bright copper kitchen extractors, causing spectacular lustre.
Tilework is fashioned into an arc beneath the beautiful solid stone kitchen island to honour the home’s architectural arches.
Dining chairs are set along the edge of the kitchen island to form a breakfast bar.
An inset induction hob brings the chef to the diners.
Ribbed gypsum panels texturise a feature wall opposite the island, around the kitchen’s bay window.
A small sitting area is arranged in the bay window as a place to take in the view or to enjoy reading under the unique floor lamp.
A small side table offers a spot to set down tea or coffee.
Behind the kitchen island, the rest of the kitchen cabinets are revealed from behind a wall of slatted doors, which perfectly match the bookcases in the lounge.
A copper kitchen tap melds warmly with the brown cabinets and coordinating countertop.
Moving on into the private master, the colour palette is cooled to an all grey scheme. A grey and white houndstooth bedroom rug is spread out beneath the grey bedstead, and a grey bedroom chair occupies the corner.
Elegant arched windows gracefully leap alongside the bed. Modern round bedside tables complement their perfect curves.
The deep headboard multitasks as a bookcase and a comfortable bedroom workspace that stays peacefully hidden from view. A curved back chair dips just below the surface of the incognito desk design, staying neatly out of plain sight.
The bed is angled toward a large balcony and a wonderful wide open view.
A wall of fluted glass separates the sleep space from the bedroom entryway, and forms a cosy screen around a comfortable seating area.
Sculptural pendant lights descend on the seating nook, where a planter of Pampas grass is softly uplit to highlight its texture and colour.
A change in flooring takes place beneath the two club chairs, to mark change in function.
A slimline chrome floor lamp provides reading light by the bed.
Light switches and handy charging points are set right into the deep multifunctional headboard design.
Textural botanical displays soften the corners of the room, whilst gypsum wall panels maintain modern clean lines.
Ribbed, slatted and fluted materials make linear counteraction with the arched windows and doors in the architecture of the home.
An arched doorway with a dramatic deep reveal sets an impressive first impression at the home entryway. An arched mirror replicates the aesthetic.
In the luxurious bathroom, linearity reigns supreme with ribbed unit facias and a sharply square vanity mirror.

I sit in my office, on the extra chair I inherited after my husband and I bought two chairs to replace it. My feet are propped on an ottoman, reupholstered in green and white houndstooth, also banished to my office when something better came along. The smell of fresh coffee has weakened, but the lukewarm liquid is still sweet. I love the taste of coffee, the bitter mixed with cream. I like…

So I know everyone asks what niall would do in their situations but what is your sexual fantasy with Niall? I know you got a good one lol
Oh you mean other than lasting more than 3 minutes and NOT ending in tears or an apology 😑
I want fun fluffy sex with Niall. I mean yeah I’d like him to wreck me on that stupid ass houndstooth ottoman he has but the real dream™ for me is soft giggles and slow kisses. The knot in my belly tightening and tightening until I’m almost desperate for release. Watching the tendons and muscles move and flex under the flushed skin of his shoulders when he’s on top of me. Feeling his hot breath grunt into my neck and ear telling me how good it feels. I want to feel his hands gripping my thighs and hiking them over his hips. I want to make him lose control, get out of breath and clutch on to me like I’m the only thing anchoring him down after he’s finished. Basically I want the sex I was having when I was 23 and was too young and stupid to appreciate it.

51 Red Living Rooms With Tips And Accessories To Help You Decorate Yours
http://cdn.home-designing.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/red-and-black-living-room-decor-600x338.jpg
Red really ramps up a living room decor scheme. Even a simple neutral backdrop can come alive with the introduction of red couches and a coordinated red table lamp, or a pair of red window drapes and a matching rug. Red adds a lot of visual heat, so is a particularly great option to those wanting to transform a cold looking room. This extensive gallery of 51 red living rooms is packed with inspiration on red wall colours, red living room furniture, and unique ways in which to introduce a plethora of red living room accessories that will help to balance out the scheme just right.
Visualizer: Tamizo
Create colour layers. The dark ceiling of this red and black living room evokes a cocoon-like feeling of safety, whilst everything below half height in the room radiates with the same red vibrancy. Red sofas, a red area rug, a red coffee table, and even a low slung red pendant light pull together in daring colour saturation.
Photographer: Nickolas Sargent   Source: Douglas Elilman
Flower power and fun. This lively room scheme employs red sofas to turn up the visual heat of a plain white painted room, whilst a rainbow rug ramps up the cheer. A daisy shaped ottoman fills the room with flower power, along with petal motif side tables.
Designer: Co-direction Design
Colourful and cubist. A sharp and simplified red sofa design makes an ideal champion for the cubist decor aesthetic. Cut a feature wall into sections that can be filled with complementary accent colour, like gold, and introduce a linear modern chandelier.
Designer: Cezign
Retrofit the red vibe. If you’re already decorated with neutrals but long for something more lively, fear not. Easy additions like a red feature cushion, some red wall art, and a red floral arrangement can work wonders. If budget allows, spring for an adventurous red accent chair too, it will make the colour infusions appear more permanent and intentional.
Visualizer: Iqosa
In this case, double chairs create double the impact.
Visualizer: Trung-Chung Nguyễn
Here, red cushions and art align to make one more retrofit compatible solution.
Visualizer: Matteo Margutti
Deliciously pomegranate. Red lovers looking for something on the sophisticated side will adore this rich pomegranate shade. Team with a solid stone coffee table to get the luxe look.
Designer: Balbek Bureau
Step it up. Create an island for your most colourful room elements by building a platform, then wrap it with more bright flamboyance. In this room, a raw industrial backdrop creates an interesting juxtaposition for the colour crisp elements.
Visualizer: DAR Architects
Slice and splice. Use contrasting wall panels and curtains to build sections of colour around the room.
Visualizer: Ricardo Tohme
Seeing triple. Not one, but three red couches round out this large living room, with a simple red runner completing a full circuit of colour on the fourth side.
Photographer: Gaël Lesure
Rosy and cosy. A patchwork red carpet pulls up by the modern fireplace of this home, creating a colour bridge of heat and cosiness.
Visualizer: Tyoma Atsone
Lift it with light. A ceiling stripe of red LEDs really elevates this black, white, and red living room scheme. There is also a shape theme twinned with the red elements of this room, evident in a circular feature wall treatment, round area rug, and pendant light discs.
Source: Design Connected
If you are only going to do one thing to bring red into a room, a feature wall brings the biggest impact…
… Consider teasing the colour thread out a little further, with just a couple of painted panels on an adjacent wall.
Visualizer: Juliya Butova
A red and brown meld makes a smooth partnership. This scheme picks up the tempo with some beats of primary yellow.
Designer: Thom Filicia
There are red chairs, and then there is THIS red lounge chair. If you’re going for a hero piece then go extra special.
Visualizer: Landusheva Nastia
Textured panelling and molding bring extra oomph to a red feature wall.
Visualizer: Nikolai Ivoglo
Another take on the panel molding aesthetic.
Source: Tai Ping Carpets
A cool grey stone effect carpet contrasts beautifully with the heat of a vibrant red painted wall and matching couch.
Visualizer: Zarysy
Work your angles. Different shades of red have been used to create this angular optical illusion on the TV wall, which gives the space added dimension.
Visualizer: Form’8 studio
Add a blast of blue. Red is a stong colour, but that doesn’t mean that you have to keep the rest of the room palette weak. Try adding other bold colours into the mix, like a solid cobalt blue or golden yellow–or both!
Visualizer: Daria Zinovatnaya
Look at Mondrian inspired interior design for colour combo insight. Note how the scheme is kept fresh with plenty of white space and sharp black linework. Max out the theme in a concept like this by choosing pendant lighting and area rugs to match.
Designer: Design: Vadim Che   Visualizer: Ilya Ganzha
Black linework and white space can translate into a much softer scheme too, like this half height border with black dado rail. A red persian rug expands the colour saturation across the lower half of the room. A contrasting sofa pulls out blue highlights in the carpet.
Designer: JJRR
Lay out a warm welcome with red carpet. Red carpeting creates a warm base for an open and airy room. Red candles draw the warmth up to eye level when seated.
Gold standard home accessories. This round coffee table and its matching side table introduce glorious golden elements into an orange-red room. The lustre reflects the fire tones, and suggests luxury and expense.
Visualizer: Valeriya Meteleva
Beautify walls with burgundy red panel molding. Even modern spaces benefit from the traditional practice of panel molding, and rich colour only amplifies the elegant effect. Be sure to place a stylish lamp nearby to light up the finished feature.
Visualizer: Ashwag Moon
Ketchup and mustard. They work great on a hotdog and they work in decor too! Don’t be put off by the analogy, the right combination of delicious saucy red and a stripe of earthy mustard will look far more sophisticated than your local fast food joint.
Visualizer: Danielle Nagel
Assemble a mediterannean vibe. The floral wallpaper in this red and turquoise living room is reminiscent of medditerannean tile, and even lace. The contrasting turquoise elements bring in a fresh breeze, as if from the ocean. Yellow pieces let in the sun.
Designer: Axis Mundi
Gotta love an ottoman. This tufted ottoman coffee table acts as the perfect springboard for the rest of the red elements in the room. A sea of red pattern waves around it’s base, and red wall art echoes its square outline.
Designer: Eero Saarinen   Photographer: Ezra Stoller
A red room within a room. Designed by architect Eero Saarinen for the industrialist J. Irwin Miller, this home was the beginning of the original conversation pit trend that looks set to make a modern comeback.
Designer: Diligence International
A smaller take on a red conversation pit, though this time with the inclusion of a stunning ceiling mount fireplace in a double height void. Black and white pillows create a layered look on the red seating.
Visualizer: Tyoma Atsone
See the world through red rose tinted glasses. Glass wall bedrooms, kitchens and even bathrooms are all the rage in interiors right now, but how about using the glass as a vessel to carry your accent colour? Transparency is maintained to leave spaces feeling larger, but the tint promotes a cosier atmosphere when closed.
Visualizer: MV+
Gorgeously gothic. Solid black paint walls highlighted with gilded elements and blood red couches build devilishly good looks.
Visualizer: Kirill Vill
Balance out equal measures and tone. The red and teal parts of this living room each cover a similar square footage, whether that be on the floor or across the walls. Each colour is a soft muted shade, with neither one overpowering the other.
Designer: Home D
Use colour to define zones in an open plan arrangement.
Visualizer: K Band
This red and grey interior has a rotating red ellipse mirror to define the lounge from the entryway.
Visualizer: One Tone Architects
What to do when vibrant red sunsets fade away? Position red couches around your panorama in honour of natures paint palette.
Visualizer: Kostia Drevich
Hop between opposite sides of the colour wheel, like this contrasting red and green interior. Indoor plants complete and freshen the look.
Visualizer: Alesya Kasianenko
This revitalising space amps up the indoor plant and red decor combo. Natural stone, rattan and wood enrich the scene.
Visualizer: Oscar Pastor
Crackle texture elevates this dark red feature wall, making it a stunning gallery space for abstract art.
Visualizer: Zikzak
This piece of red art becomes a feature wall in itself. Raw concrete makes a cool companion.
Visualizer: A & L Interior Design
Make red the cohesion between interlinked living spaces.
Designer: Hurma Architects   Visualizer: Viktor Tarakanov
In this home, statement red dining chairs echo the red abstract wall art in an adjacent lounge.
Designer: Coy Yiontis
As if this chunky red tufted sofa isn’t glorious enough, this living room features a lush grass green rug to bind it with its wonderful garden view.
Visualizer: Prodiz
Read it, read it, red it. Take a regular bookcase and transform the stacks with bright red inserts.
Architect: Nika Vorotyntseva
All wired up. No need to conceal that wire with electrical trunking, go louder with bright red cables and creative pinning.
Designer: Roksanda Ilinčić
Life is peachy. Red and peach might not be the first colour combination that springs to mind, but the merge is something sweet.
Visualizer: Some Graphics
Getting hot with houndstooth. Monochrome houndstooth and hot red accents are simply made for one another.
Designer: Home EC
Top off your eclectic kingdom with a joyous red crown–oh, and a disco ball.
Visualizer: DMR Designs
Have hope, be strong, laugh loud, and have a great big red typography wall.
Designer: Hurma Architect   Visualizer: Viktor Tarakanov
Complement a bold red couch with a statement lamp, like this amazing Oda style lamp. Originals are available here.
1. Red rugs 2. Red vase 3. Red tufted love seat 4. Arne Jacobsen style egg chair 5. Red couch 6. Womb chair 7. Red floor lamp 8. Red themed wall art 9. Red coffee table

Current Design trends in fashion world
Tumblr media
A number of notable advancements in print have had a big impact on the field of design over the past several years. Print and patterns have always been flexible and dynamic design elements, whether they are created through detailed patterning or a limited colour palette. In order for you to stay current with print design trends, we look at some of the most well-liked print trends in this post.
The fashion focuses on the elaborate art and culture of the time. The numerous Persian rugs, artistic, architectural, and design contributions made throughout Ottoman rule are exemplified by the intricate carpets, geometrical artwork, horseshoe arches, paisleys, honeycomb vaults, and rose windows, to name just a few. Symmetrical arrangements are frequently used in the royal and opulent motifs.
The skin patterns of wild animals represent their stripes, spots, and scale patterns. There are ways to subtly include patterns like leopard, zebra, and snake without making a big impression.Animal skin patternsare useful in almost all creative and artistic undertakings.
FloralPrint and patternshave wide variety of flowers are featured. Floral designs can be simple and little or complex and large. They could have a single colour or several. They offer so much variety, which makes them fun to use as patterns.
When used appropriately,Patterns imagesmay be very successful in drawing in your audience because humans are hardwired to see patterns. Photographs are more appealing when they have patterns. Since they are abstract, patterns typically have a higher artistic quality. They also exude a soothing, rhythmic energy.
Shapes that can be seen in geometricpattern and printinclude triangles, squares, and trapezoids. They may be more repetitious or intricately abstract. Houndstooth is a repeating geometric pattern in two colors.
We are all aware that, at times, fashion trends are cyclical and, at other times, they reflect the popular culture of the current generation.Pop art printon graphic t-shirts or other clothing items are currently very popular among young people.

Home Décor Trends For 2019 by AMA Design
As you enter a New Year, it may be time to give your home a brand-new look. If you are looking for ideas to make your home 2019-ready, we help you find out what is trending.
 Go all out with maximalism
Gone are the days when minimalism ruled the home-décor scene. The New Year would be all about maximalism.
“This trend is all about saying yes and bringing home the decorative that a homeowner’s heart wants, whether or not it gels well within the current setup. Those with a liking for experimental hues, vibrant patterns and startling textures are gradually moving towards embracing the maximalist trend,” Elysium Abodes LLP Founder Hemil Parikh says.
You could add bold decorative or accent pieces to an otherwise-simple and sleek article of furniture. Accent walls could also be a good idea to bring a change.
 Style it in velvet
After making a comeback in the fashion world, velvet is now making waves in home décor, too. Experts suggest that you should not shy away from using this bold material.
“However old-fashioned it might be, velvet is back as being popular. Seen as a luxurious fabric, velvet may become a sought-after décor commodity in 2019,” says Studio Creo Founder & Creative Director Parushni Aggarwal.
“Velvet works it wonder, whether you want to accentuate a dining chair, a couch or a simple ottoman. Velvet has a naturally lavish and cozy feel, making it the perfect choice for your interiors since it offers both style and comfort in equal measures,” Parikh says.
 Go traditional with ikat
This earthen print, AMA Design Solutions CEO Mithun S Sheth says, is for those who desire to go back to basics.  Originated in Indonesia, this versatile yet traditional batik print gives the designer the freedom to create a focal point across various areas of your home.
According to Parikh, the trick is in knowing how to include this versatile print into your abode.
“It can be used to punctuate a focal colour in the living room couch or to add a spot of graphic texture to your bedding. Being a noticeable print, it works particularly well with neutral solids and can also blend with other prints,” he says.
 Go vintage with houndstooth
Oozing a vintage feel, this black and white check-like print this is a favorite among the fashionistas these days.
“While this print traditionally has a clubby and highbrow tone, it can also be bright, energetic, fresh and youthful. Though being considered a traditional pattern, large-scale houndstooth upholstery has a more modern aesthetic value attached to it. It can be incorporated anywhere in homes right from matting for frames to floorcoverings,” says Parikh.
 Brighten up with living coral
Living Coral has been picked as the colour of the year for 2019 by Pantone Color Institute, a US-based company that provides customised colour standards, brand identity and product colour consulting. This colour will be widely used across various industries. This hue of pink, according to Pantone, describes carefree happiness and we think it aptly fits the maximalism theme. So look out for this colour whenever you are choosing your upholstery or furnishings. This colour, Aggarwal says, will allow the trend of bright millennial colours to continue in the New Year.
