I forgot it was Hourly Comic Day again but it's also Throwback Thursday so I'm posting the ones I did in 2019 to get two birds with one stone (and also because it's pretty much shot for shot exactly what happens every year anyways :'3)

I've meant to participate in an Hourly Comic Day for years now, and now I can finally cross that off my bucket list.
Enjoy a voyeuristic look into... just another college student Thursday, except I spent most of it doodling. This takes more time out of your day than you'd think.

Zipcar mileage limit
Tumblr media
#ZIPCAR MILEAGE LIMIT PLUS#
Prices for Comic, parked outside of Element Uptown, are substantially more expensive. On weekends, the prices go up to $9.50 an hour and $77 per day. Monday through Thursday, hourly rates for the cars at UNC Charlotte are $8.50 and a 24-hour reservation is $69. You can book a car for up to seven days at a time. On top of the annual fee, expect to pay hourly or daily rates that vary depending on the day (weekends are always more expensive). The annual membership fee does cover gas, insurance, 24/7 roadside assistance and 180 miles every trip, but don’t think that that $70 covers your time spent in the car itself. Lots of rental places will collect/deliver (or bring you to/from the depot) but normally only if you book 3 or 4 days at a time.If you’re with another Zipcar member, that member can drive, but should damage be done to the car while a non-member is driving, it’s up to you to cover the fees and give up your membership. I can see the convenience appeals especially if you have young kids in tow. The difference is I could walk a couple of minutes and get a zipcar 24 hours a day, or walk/bus 10 mins to the tube station, go a few stops, walk 5 mins at the other end and have to drive home - and also work within their 8-7 opening hours (shorter on weekends). Local Sixt does the same at £42, although more like £46 to reduce the excess to the same amount (you do get unlimited miles though). There are plenty of vans dotted about too (there's one 2 mins from my house) at £9/hour which is ideal for shorter flat moves, picking up something bulky you've bought or ebay or a trip to IKEA.ĭay rates aren't so good but not terrible - eg. Quite a few friends are members - they don't need cars to commute but do for errands and other trips occasionally.Īs said, very good if you only need it for a few hours at a time - shopping trips, taking things to the tip, etc. That might have changed after the merger with zipcar. You would need to check out their website but when I was in streetcar I think they ended up extending the mileage limits if you rented for 24 hours, for example, which made the cost of a 24hr or weekend rental much more competitive compared to normal car rental. So for trips to IKEA and picking friends up from airports, they're great - for visiting the folks over the weekend, I'd rent elsewhere. So if a Polo is £5/hour am I right in thinking you then pay the mileage charge on top of that? The post you quoted suggests an allowance of 40 miles before you start paying mileage charges. It's cheaper to rent elsewhere if you want a car for 24 hours, or for a journey much over the 40 mile/trip limit. They work really well for short time periods and short journeys. Value is better for me than most as I don't have any membership costs, so it's simply the hourly rental & excess mileage.Ī new Polo is £5/hour, a Golf is £6/hour and n A3 is £7 - that's pretty good value, and as I live in Zone 2 I have a lot of options within easy reach. I'm now a member of Zipcar, although was a founding member of Streetcar before it became zipped. For those who use their car every day it's a non starter.Īny further questions about the scheme, don't hesitate to ask! If you thinking of jointing though, contact me first - there's something in it for both of us! So to sum up, it makes sense for me, and would be viable if you were driving once a week or less. I do nothing like this amount - in fact I haven't driven for the last six weeks. £2270 would buy me 5 hours and 66 miles a week with the CCC. So I'd have to add petrol, parking costs, C-charge, and day-to-day maintenance like light bulbs and car washes! If I wanted to put my own equivalent car on the road I'd be paying around There is normally an £50 annual membership but I avoided this by taking advantage of a promotion they were doing at the time.ġ) I spend most of the year in central London where I have nowhere to park, yet the are half a dozen CCC cars in a 5 minute walk radius.Ģ) Secondly, been served by central London, I rarely need to use a car. I can also hire a Prius/Zafira/Transporter van at a premium.
#ZIPCAR MILEAGE LIMIT PLUS#
If I hire a Yaris/500/Fiesta (their regular selection of superminis) it costs £5.70 per hour plus 23p a mile. I'm a member of the City Car Club, which I use in Bristol and central London.

Throwback Thursday! What's what? It's Friday? Well anyway! Here's a couple comics from hourly comic day 2015! I was going through old art and saw these referenced two songs I still play on the open mic scene! I'm pretty sure this was the very day I started writing trapped in the cooler. How neat! #art #throwback #hourly #ghost #digitalart #comics #lol https://www.instagram.com/p/CQ1qjTvr7p-/?utm_medium=tumblr

This week has been one thousands years because like:
Monday:
My front desk cover (aka the doc clerk) says she’ll be out because her mom is sick. Sadly, I have trouble believing this because she’s constantly lied about other things. I am not the only one who has trouble trusting her.
Smack my knee against my desk causing a gigantic bruise
Tuesday:
Front desk cover says she’ll be in later that day and will keep us posted. She never says anything and never responds.
I go to the gyno and cry out of embarrassment and shame because of things that occur. (Don’t worry I’m not dying or anything at least from that)
Because we’re not sure if my cover will come in tomorrow and I have an appointment, I talk with one of the legal staff and she agrees to come in earlier to open
Wednesday:
Legal staff member does not come in to open. It ends up being fine, but once again reminds me I can’t trust anyone to help me out in this office
Go to a first free therapy appointment. I open up about things and cry out of embarrassment for the second time this week.
Front desk cover says she has put her two weeks in. Welp.
Thursday:
One of the head people from the Seattle office comes down unexpectedly. She has come to tell us that our office is going to close in May and they’re going to change things up by having people be remote/work in the Vancouver office. People are pissed.
I talk to my supervisor. Because Vancouver’s receptionist put her two weeks in a week ago, it’s decided that I will start working in Vancouver in perhaps 1-2 weeks, depending on if they can get the og Vancouver receptionist to stay a little longer. They give me a raise that’s less than a dollar despite the constant praise I get about how I keep the office.
Friday:
Pretty much after work ride along with my cousin and her friend three hours to Bend for the Bend Winter Pride
Saturday:
Hourly comic day
I go Nordic skiing for the first time in my life
Sunday:
Drive three hours home
My body is very sore and the bruise on my knee from Monday is a lot bigger because I kept landing on it the day before.
This all happened... this week. I’m so goddamn tired you guys
