REVIEW: HOUSE OF HO, SOHO, LONDON
57-59 Old Compton St, Soho, W1D 6HP
Girls dinner. I needed a place i could book and not be pushed off our table in a rush. House of Ho was the answer.
Greeted on arrival by a charming host and taken to our table and handed a lovely looking cocktail list. We were so busy chatting and catching up that i forgot what the cocktails were called... But here we are all enjoying them!
After having to send the waiter away about 5 times we eventually dived in to the menu and chose a selection of food for the table. The waiter suggested that we shared everything. A sort of Vietnamese tapas.
The menu is split in to 3 sections. Light & Raw, Hot & Grilled and Ho's Dishes.
First up, Light & Raw, and some delicious rice noodle rolls with duck.
Beautifully presented seafood ceviche with white truffle oil and coconut jus. Look at that beautiful fish spilling out of the coconut... It tasted as good as it looks.
Next, on to the Hot & Grilled. Grilled chicken wings with a spicy chilli glaze.
And BBQ baby back ribs on asian slaw.
Finger lickin' good and tasty.
Ho's dishes are the chef specials. We went for the 'Shaking Beef' 21 day aged fillet. Tender and full of flavour.
And then came our number 1 dish of the night. The chicken potato curry with paddy leaves, crispy shallots and steamed rice. The flavour was intense and if we had been at home there would have been a fight to lick the bowl. But we restrained.
We thought we better have some greens so went for a weird dish of stir fried flower buds with crispy shallots (can you tell i have forgotten the real name for them!). They look pretty though don't they. They didn't taste of much sadly.
We were suitably stuffed from all the mains that we had to give the puddings a miss. Next time!
Overall House of Ho is a real treat to Soho. I am really not a fan of queuing for hours for a meal so i like that you can book a table, which you can do right here, have delicious food and not be rushed.
Give it a try, you won't regret it.
