The peace lily (Spathiphyllum) flower is called a spadix and is the knobby looking part in the middle of the white "flag" called the spathe. These beautiful ubiquitous plants aren't actually lilies but are in the araceae family. Love this unfurling frond (crozier) on my bear's 🐻 paw 🐾 fern. Notice the round brown spot that does not have any "fur". That is where a frond has fallen off (probably when Henry the kitty knocked it on the floor), or a lead scar. I love the juxtaposition of the new and the old parts of the fern. I had just watered, so notice the water drops on top of the frond. Don't you just love ferns?!! Yesterday @matthaeinichols this gorgeous Euphorbia milii was blooming. Remember the flowers are the small yellowish things in the middle. The large pink "flowers" are actually modified leaves called bracts. The entire thing is called the cyathium. These plants are cousins of the poinsettia. I love 💚 sansevierias or snake 🐍 plants and have quite a few. This Sansevieria masoniana (Mason's Congo/ Whale 🐳Tail/ Shark 🦈 fin) is sprouting a new baby and here is a picture looking down into it. This plant is in my south window and enjoys basking in the full sun ☀️. They have the reputation as a low light houseplant. They will TOLERATE low light but PREFER high light, as they naturally grow in Africa.
