heya, hope you’re well :) Had a nice day today. I woke up early to go to my grandparents’ house for lunch. It was nice and cool so the trip there was lovely.
Plus, I visited one of my favourite plant shops and scored a pretty Hoya shepherdii. The plant tag just said “Hoya species” and I know it’s not carnosa, so I did a lil research and it looks closest to shepherdii.
If someone knows what species it is pls let me know! I know there are some massive Hoya enthusiasts on this site, and y’all know your shit, so hit me up! I’ll throw some pics below 🌿 Anyways, that’s gonna be all for now. Thanks for reading and take care of yourself <3
lots of love,
elle xoxo

Oh, the drama continues! 🙄 Apparently, I've transformed into a hermit just because I'm studying botany. Who knew that delving into the fascinating world of plants could be so life-altering? 🌿 Sure, I might not be available 24/7 to chat about the weather, but hey, dissecting moss is a time-consuming endeavor! 🌱 So, to my dear relatives, fear not. I'm still here, just buried under a pile of textbooks and leaves. The real mystery is how I manage to maintain my plant-like calm amidst your never-ending complaints. 😂

elle’s diary - Page 157 - 20/04/24 @ 9:58pm
heya, hope you’re well :) had a nice day today. I went on a long walk on a trail up a small mountain with my sister. I know that’s a lil confusing lol, there is “Mt” in this place’s name but the difficulty wasn’t too hard.
The scenery was so gorgeous, there was a winding river that we crossed and followed which you could hear rushing from afar. So many trees and even cool mosses, which I’ll attach a pic of.
I got back home later in the afternoon and have been listening to music (Melodrama, Found Heaven) and making dinner since. Just finished up now, I had some yummy pasta with a bunch of stuff on it. Anyways, that’s gonna be all for now. Thanks for reading and take care of yourself <3
lots of love,
elle xoxo

Houseplant Care
March is the time to repot houseplants in need. When the roots are visible from the drainage holes or start growing out of them, it’s time for a new home. Choose a container that’s an inch or two larger than the original or root prune the plant by slicing half an inch of roots off the sides and bottom of the root ball and put it back in the same pot with
When the houseplants begin to show new growth it’s time to start fertilizing. Jack’s Classic is a good water-soluble fertilizer that’s available at independent garden centers. Always read and follow the directions on the package. If you prefer an organic fertilizer, Neptune’s Harvest Fish/Seaweed Fertilizer contains everything a plant needs to thrive. Though it’s deodorized the faint smell lasts only a few hours. Never fertilize a plant when the soil is dry. Water it first and let it sit for a day – then fertilize it.
Growing from Seed
Folks who are new to seed starting often make the mistake of starting seeds too early. The rule of thumb for starting seeds is to begin 6 weeks or so weeks prior to the planting time, so the plants do not grow tall and spindly from lack of light. Plants in this condition are badly stressed and may fail to thrive. However, come take longer times to germinate so follow the directions on the seed packet. Those of us who live in cold climbs have two to three months to wait for planting time but now is a good time to shop for seeds, potting soils, and other equipment.
The temperature of the soil is the key to success when planting. Cool weather lovers, such as lettuce, Swiss chard, kale, and peas need soil temperatures at 50 degrees F. Warm weather lovers, including tomatoes, peppers, and basil need soil temperatures of 60 degrees F. A soil thermometer, available at garden centers and in big boxes, will take the mystery out of timing and may save your plants.
