15+60
Sometimes 35+40 or 20+55 or 60+15.
Brains are weird. They're massively parallel, so you have multiple things going on at any given time. The greater the practice of a process, the less awareness you actually have of the process. People who happen to have done a lot of algebraic trinomial factoring recently (i.e. ax^2 + bxy + cy^2 = (kx+qy)(dx+gy)) can factor without actually following any discernible steps.
The subconscious-izing of familiar things is both a way of speeding them up and reducing executive function load.
So if you ask me how I do addition of things of this level of complexity, I barely know; they just happen.

trent Total Drama is for ppl who got broken up with in sophomore year of high school who subsequently spent the next three weeks crying in the corner of their algebra two classroom, which lead to them falling behind and getting a c in the class for the year and still not knowing how to factor a trinomial

;-; do you know how to factor I have tsi in a week help
I'm bad at explaining math things but at the very least this should help a little bit considering I did a couple of problems for you lol
OK so for trinomials which have the following three terms in them: numberx^2 (example: x^2 or 3x^2), numberx (ex: 2x or 5x), and number (ex: 7 or 2), 1. you wanna get them in that order, as in ax^2+bx+c. 2. From there, you need to find two number that multiply to ac and add to b. 3. Then you break b up into those two numbers like so:
Tumblr media
4. From there you factor out common factors of the two numbers in each parenthesis. if you do it right what's inside each of the two parenthesis will now be the same. 5. Then you put the two outside numbers in parenthesis as well, so that they're being multiplied by the expression that was in both parenthesis in step 4. That was confusing as hell, but for example I did number 2 for u
Tumblr media
Number 6 is also solved with this method.
If it's the 2 term polynomial ax^2+c, you need to replace a with the square root of a (which is just 1 if the term is just x^2), replace x^2 with x, and replace c with the square root of c, parenthesis that, then multiply it by itself. For example:
1) x^2+121 becomes (x+11)(x+11)
4) 9x^2-4 becomes (3x-2)(3x+2), (we're not doing imaginary numbers so if it's a negative like -4 just have one of them positive and the other negative.)
I didnt see this on your worksheet but I'll add it just in case, if it's ax^2+bx, you just factor shit straight out of it (5x^2+10x becomes 5x(x+2))
As for 2 term polynomial ax^3+c and ax^3+bx I'm not super familiar so probably go consult the internet or a teacher :P I would look it up for u but I don't have time to read all that I've got to get back to my actual math homework lolol
Good luck, feel free to send another ask if you need something elaborated on or help with a problem :)

💥Blog Entry # 1: PARABOLAS
FIRST QUARTER; 1st Week
School begins but my brain and I are still in “vacation mode”. In short I feel that I am not yet ready but here we are. The 1st week was chaotic for me because of the changing and unsure schedules, and of course, the first lessons that were being taught at the beginning of school. I’m about to share to you what I have done this week on Math and what are my thoughts and reflections at the end. Enjoy! 😎✌
Tumblr media
🔴MONDAY
We had a meeting with Sir Ric at 9:00 AM. We have already met him last Thursday so I wasn’t surprised if we start our next meeting with him discussing the first lessons for the First Quarter. Before going through the new lesson, Sir Ric made us recap about Factoring and the Perfect Square Trinomial. He also taught us about some shortcuts that is a great advantage with me because I’m not that good at factoring, sigh. He also taught us how to get the vertex of the parabola from the equations. Then, after discussing and making sure if we understand the lesson well, Sir Ric group us in pairs and answer the assigned question to us. I was not sure of the answer I have concluded and I felt it was wrong, and so it is after Sir have shown us the answers. After classes, I was frustrated with how I solved the problem so I practiced and not just the question that was assigned on me and my pair but to all the questions of the exercise.
Here’s how I did:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Before I answered it, I went on Youtube and see if there is a video with a clearer explanation on how to solve problems like this. Here’s the link of the vid that helped me a lot -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsA3e5lGwKo . I was so happy that I’ve finally understand, yehey!

🟠TUESDAY
I woke up early at 3:00 AM to study the learning guide 1.1 in Math and also the other lessons from the other subjects as well. I read the learning guide and I have decided to answer a given question at the end to understand it more.
Here’s how I did:
Tumblr media
After checking that my answer was correct, I went to sleep to get some rest and to have adequate energy for tomorrow. Fast Forward to today’s Math Level 2 meeting... Sir Ric discussed the learning guides since he wasn’t able to talk about them at our last meeting. He also taught us how to solve some tricky questions on the lgs that makes them look like a piece of cake .
Tumblr media
🟡WEDNESDAY
When the quiz opened and the due date was on Friday, I initially scheduled to take it on Thursday since I still have some other reqs to accomplish. I thought I have fully understand the lesson but it turns out I was wrong. I still don’t get it some things of our lesson, like how to find the endpoints of the latus rectum, or the focus, or the directrix and many more😭
Tumblr media
🟢THURSDAY
I did say that I will answer the quiz on this day, but I still don’t get it. Then I saw the interactive lesson 1.1 and remembered that I haven’t yet finish it. After I’m done with it, I totally got it! I took the practice quiz and some of the questions I was able to answer them correctly but there is some that seems a little bit confusing for me. Overall, I feel ok in taking the quiz now🧐
Tumblr media
🔵FRIDAY
At 3:00 AM, I took the quiz and I’ve gotta say, I was able to find it ok though. Since I couldn’t take a peek of what is my score, I just hope that I pass or at least I did good in the quiz.
Here’s my solution to a problem-solving in the quiz:
Tumblr media
I took me a while to figure it out because it is fraction (I have a hard time when it comes to solving fraction stuff😥) but I finally got the hang of it once I have graph the problem.

🟣REFLECTION
This week was a rollercoaster for me. I’m already stressing out for the 1st week of classes because I expected to relax a little bit since its still the beginning of the school year. Though, I’m surprised that I’m doing well despite being stressed. I just need to plan of when I will do my reqs and how much time should I devote to Math. So that’s it guys! I hope you enjoyed my blog entry for this week and see you next week for the next one. BYEEEEEEE!!!!🤞🏻😚

Find a Limit Algebraically.. How?
youtube
There isn’t any one algebraic method that will works for finding every limit. Here are the different methods:
1) Direct Substitution (0:22) When trying to evaluate a limit algebraically your “go to" method should be direct substitution. If direct substitution works, simply plug in the value that x is approaching, and evaluate the function.
2) What about if I get 0/0? (1:25) If you try direct substitution and get 0/0 (the indeterminate form), you should try to simplify the function and then try direct substitution again.
3) Factor to Simplify (2:17) If you see higher powered polynomials in the function, you should try a form of factoring to simplify the function. Whether it is a difference of squares or cubes, a perfect square trinomial, a trinomial with or, or even a grouping situation, factoring will usually get you to the result. Once you’ve simplified by factoring, try direct substitution again.
4) Use a Conjugate to Simplify (4:28) If you see a root in the function, you should try multiplying by the conjugate of the root to simplify the function. Once the function is simplified, try direct substitution again.
5) Use Expansion of Polynomials to Simplify (7:09) If you tried factoring and weren’t able to simplify, you can try expanding any polynomials which are raised to a power, then check for anything that cancels out. Once you’ve simplified by canceling out terms, try direct substitution again.
6) Simplify With a Common Denominator (8:38) If you have a complex fraction, you can try using a common denominator to simplify the fractions. Once you’ve simplified the fractions, try direct substitution again.

Self confidence, hubris, and see-through gauze
I’m not sure how many years ago it was, but I went into Joanne’s Fabric for One Simple Thing and came out with that things plus a length of very pink, very flowery see-through gauze. I’ll make a top! With lining, because it needs it! I thought I was being self-confident in my sewing skills.
However, when I had cut the fabric and started trying to figure out how to line it, I realized my confidence was misplaced. I tried and tried, but I couldn’t quite figure out how to get lining to work for this project. Other things I had lined turned out ok, but they were ordinary fabric, and I knew the gauze would present extra issues; ie all the seams would have to be ‘finished’ inside so they look good with the gosh-darn see-through fabric.
I tabled the problem, put the pieces in a drawer, and forgot them. Then recently, I read a Tumblr post by @vinceaddams where very old lining techniques were discussed. In short; instead of sewing the shirt and the lining separately, then attaching them, line each piece of fabric and then stitch the whole thing together. That gave me the hint I needed to get started on this project again!
Tumblr media
I stitched the side seams, like this photo, then rolled the seam allowance to the side and tacked it down with a simple running stitch. It’s not magnificent, but it’s nice and tight and ‘finished’ looking.
Tumblr media
I left the sleeves unlined, and folded the seam so the raw edges are tucked away.
Tumblr media
I used pink bias tape around the neckline, and tried to make the bottom hem as neat and tidy as I could*. Most of this was done by hand because trying to machine sew silk or gauze is like trying to put stitches in a live eel - slippery and frustrating. Also I was trying to do some algebra tutoring at the same time, so I just sat with my sewing and tried to clarify factoring a trinomial into binomials for my poor son.
* My patience being what it is, neat and tidy can be a real drain on my resources.

Lydia's mental health starts to get worse again (like how it was when she was on the roof) and Barbara picks up on it and helps her through it.
(Lydia never seems to get a break on this blog, does she. I’m on it)
Adam was trying to help Lydia with her math homework.  She had a test the next day and needed to study. Unfortunately, she found that she was far more proficient in language and history than math. So she employed Adam to help her out, after Barbara had said that Adam was captain of the math team in high school. Adam, after blushing a bit, agreed to tutor Lydia.
They were almost done with the study session. Adam had noticed some odd behavior from Lydia, especially how she seemed far more quiet than usual, and when she did speak, it was with a heavy tone and a frown. He waved it off as studying blues and continued. There was one problem that Lydia was having trouble with, a problem with quadratics.
“So Lydia, if we want to factor this trinomial, we’re gonna need to split it up like this.” Adam wrote out the equation on their scratch paper. “And see? We need three factors from here, and we have three factors. Can you show me what the factors are?” He watched Lydia halfheartedly point out the answer. He bent over the paper again and began writing out another equation while speaking. “Good. So to find the value of this, we use this equation, plus or minus value b, plus the square root of negative value b minus value a times value c, divided by two. Got it?” He looked up, and was startled to see Lydia staring at the paper with tears flowing from her eyes.
“Lydia!” He said, unsure of what to do. “Lydia, honey, it’s a simple problem really.. there’s no need to get upset over it. I can help you, look! You just have to plug these in, it’s easy!”
The tears kept going.
Adam seemed ready to breakdown himself, until he felt his wife’s hands on his shoulders. He turned around and looked at her gratefully, and stood to go. This whole situation was something Barbara was made for. Adam was good for wood working, or dad jokes, or schoolwork, or cooking, or... well, definitely not this. Teenagers would always be a mystery to him.
Once Adam had left, Barbara sat down next to Lydia. She gently placed an arm on Lydia’s back, and began to rub it. Lydia was still silently crying, staring straight ahead at the math practice, as if it was the cause of all her grief. Barbara knew that was not the case.
“I miss her.”
“I know you do.”
“It’s not the same.”
“That doesn’t mean that it’s worse.”
A stifled sob.
“I want to see her again.”
“You will.”
“When?”
The hand stopped rubbing the back. It grabbed the smaller, paler hand, and locked it’s fingers in the others. There was no protest.
“Not now. Someday.”
A silence. To Barbara, it was nearly deafening, just waiting for the response, to see if she had done her job right. She held her breath. The silence grew louder.
“Just as long as it’s someday.”
Silence never felt more welcome.
