Heya! I wasn't sure if this was a legal request since it wasnt listed in your bio, but it is an official httyd video game
I'd love to see the goofy guy Patch from dawn of new riders! Chimeragons really made one appearance, became way too op, and then disappeared into obscurity. But look at the guy...he so ugly and goofy I love him
Your art is gorgeous btw!

( @yuendelahoya )
So funny story. I watched a playthrough of this game when it first came out in 2019, and it's been on my wish list ever since (mostly because of the flight mechanics lol) And now that I found these asks in my inbox again, I checked the Nintendo Store just in case, and it had a 55% discount??? So I got the game and spent the last 2 days playing it and now I'm a changed man (as of posting this, the discount lasts for 2 more days!)
Dragon #125 - MLM Patch (and Scribbler)
I hope they're doing well, wherever they are...
More thoughts and spoilers for the game under the cut!
I made Patch MLM colored instead of some other random Chimeragon, because the game has shown us that he can change colors with every rebirth, which I think is pretty neat :) It also explains why neither Scribbler nor Eir recognize Patch, even after he grows to be a Broadwing and then a Titanwing- if he changes his colors every time he hatches again, then yeah, no wonder they believed there's more than one Chimeragon
I knew what the big twist was going to be at the end because of the playthrough, but MAN does this game not hold its punches. The writers really asked "How can we elevate the Best Friends Forever thing to a whole new level?" and then made Scribbler witness the death and rebirth of his best friend, and now I have to draw these guys with literal tears in my eyes 👍
The sentiment that their friendship literally transcends life and death is so meaningful to me. Patch will continue to die and resurrect, and Scribbler will be there every time to welcome him and forge their bond all over again. The mystery of Scribbler's past, his involvement with Grimmel, and the open ending leave so much room for speculation and theorizing and it's just so incredibly up my alley, it's like it was made in a lab for me lol
This game ended up being a lot darker than I was expecting, but it was honestly so refreshing. The mechanics are simple enough for younger kids to learn, and the artstyle is very evidently targeted at kids as well, but some of the dialogue and the entire theme of death and inevitable loss feels surprisingly mature in contrast. They make you go to Vanaheim and hold a burial for Patch before he resurrects, literally what other kids' game does that?? /pos
Anyways play this game, it's a short and sweet little self-contained adventure, which accomplishes the one task it set out to accomplish: making me cry, specifically

Dawn of the New Riders is very much connected to the franchise
Grimmel and Drago, while not present, is very much involved for the events that unfolded. Vaneheim is also present. Spoilers for those who haven’t seen the game

A list of events and stuff I found amusing
Hiccup finds and names the protagonist, Scribbler (Why Hiccup?)
Scribbler rescues a dragon egg from the hunters and it hatches to reveal a chimeragon
Scribbler doesn’t really like his name but Hiccup is all “Try spending a day being called Hiccup”
Hiccup teaches Scribbler how to form a bond with his dragon
Scribbler names his dragon Patch in short for Patchwork since he’s a combination of dragons
Gobber nags Hiccup to come home via Terror mail
Astrid is hostile towards Patch and Scribbler at first
Astrid calls Hiccup her “blabbermouth boyfriend” when Scribbler asks if she’s Astrid
Astrid basically becomes your shop and is more present than Hiccup in aiding Patch and ScribblerÂ
Scribbler is from an island called Scriven Rock that Grimmel attacked with a Titan Wing (Patch)
Scribbler rescued and escaped with the Titan wing to Havenholme, Hiccup’s dragon sanctuary
Grimmel asked his men to follow them thus leading to Havenholme burning down
Patch rapidly ages and when he does he gets new elemental abilities
Hiccup introduces Gobber as his “second father”
The gang minus Hiccup, Astrid and Gobber only interact with Scribbler through terror mail
Scribbler is afraid of losing Patch due to his rapid growth
Snotlout makes fun of Scribbler’s name and gives useless advice. Astrid tells him “Ignore Snotlout, everyone else does.”
The main antagonist is a woman called Eir Stormheart, who is missing an arm and came from a village who practices cross breeding. Her tribe was invaded by Drago and her father was killed in the aftermath but she and her sister managed to escape
Eir and Grimmel have worked together creating ways to control dragons with formulas
Grimmel betrays Eir and steals her dragon (Patch) and her research
Scribbler terror mails “Anyone from Berk (Except Snotlout)” for more clues about Eir and Patch’s condition
Ruffnut has a Buffalord tattoo probably somewhere inappropriate
The twins have been called “Berk’s misfortune”
Eret cleans after the twins
Dragonvine was used to control the dragons
Scribbler is basically young Hiccup, who believes Eir can be saved, while Hiccup himself is wary and says she might not listen to reason
Valka calls Stoick “My Beloved Stoick” in a letter
A Viking called Bork created ruins (dungeons in the game) for humans to serve as bunkers because he believed humans would lose in the final fight between dragons and Vikings
Eir offers to stabilize Patch’s aging if she injects him with her potions, which would lead Patch to becoming her slave
Scribbler makes Patch decide if he wants to live but stay with Eir or stay with him but eventually die. Patch chooses Scribbler
The final fight with Eir leads the ruins to crumble and causes Eir to fall in lava with her final words being “I shall join you soon in Valhalla, Father.”
Patch grows weaker as they fly back to Havenholme and eventually collapses once they reach it
A terror mail arrives with Eir’s research attached and a drawing of Vaneheim, Scribbler thinks she sent it and is therefore alive
The gang brings Patch to Vaneheim to rest and Stoick’s ship plays in the background
Patch reverts back into an egg and Scribbler realizes the Titan wing he freed from Grimmel was Patch
The egg hatches revealing a baby Patch
Hiccup offers Scribbler and Patch a place to stay saying Berk has room for a new rider and his dragon. Gobber and Astrid disagree (with the part where Hiccup says Berk has space)
Scribbler turns down the offer saying he still needs to uncover his past and believes Eir is alive and wants to find her to stop Patch’s aging

So, I just spent the last four-ish hours playing How to Train Your Dragon: Dawn of New Riders, and... it disappointed me. (Spoilers below!)
So, we start off as a boy who lost his memory, who Hiccup decides to call Scribbler due to a notebook the boy had on him. Scribbler doesn’t remember anything about his past, but after freeing the first dragon Eir had put under her control, he regains some memory. He realizes he had been a scholar in his village.
That’s ALL the memory he regains throughout the game.
That’s definitely the first thing that ticked me off, the fact that it’s played up as if his memory returning is super important, seeing how he constantly laments over it, but... it never happens.
Now, onto Patch.
Yes, I do understand that Eir created him. But... what combination is he? His ear flaps are reminiscent of a Night Fury, while his scales remind me of a Razorwhip. But how did Eir get different dragons to crossbreed successfully? And how did his lifespan become SO short? This is never explained, and I would have liked that to have happened.
Also, it mentioned that Eir AND her sister survived, but what happened to her sister? Wouldn’t she be working with Eir? Also, the WHOLE game, G (who I now know is Grimmel) is played up like he’ll be the final boss, but he’s not. Hell, we don’t even see him! If Scribbler REALLY stole Patch from Grimmel, wouldn’t Grimmel at LEAST send one of his Deathgrippers after him?
Just... I really wanted to like this game, I did, but it left FAR too many holes for me to get as invested in it as I would like.

So I was hoping to fit Scribbler and Patch into the Finding Another Way series, after playing “Dawn of New Riders” and enjoying both characters and their friendship, but the way the series is looking I won’t be able to fit them, or Eir, into any of the stories so far.Â
Which means I’m working on a post HTTYD 3 oneshot for them, I guess.
