oh ABSOLUTELY. like listen i subscribe to the idea that hugo and varian absolutely forgave eachother but hugo very much betrayed varian. that kind of emotional damage doesn’t get healed overnight. not to mention varian wasn’t in control, but that doesn’t erase the fact ulla attacked hugo using varian’s body. idk i kind of headcanon that hugo will go through episodes (especially after nightmares) where he’s genuinely stressed being around varian and he can’t figure out why- but it’s because his body is reacting on instinct and his lizard brain doesn’t know how to distinguish between ulla and varian.

and i hc that varian is going to take a long while to rebuild that trust again. that voice in the back of his head that his loved ones are working against him got just that little bit louder when hugo betrayed him, not to mention he’s also terrified hugo will disappear/leave him so he’ll go through periods where he needs hugo in his sight at all times- at first it’s because he’s still trying to figure out the whole trusting hugo thing but later it’s because he needs reassurance that hugo is there but obviously hugo doesn’t know the difference. varian latches onto him and desperately needs him in his sight and all hugo can think is that it’s because varian doesn’t trust him because he ruined everything.

Uhm... Guys, I'm kinda new to tangled on early 2021, I finished the series ofc, and I just found out about V&T7K (Varian and the seven kingdoms) months ago and I can't seem to understand where it leads to, I know it was a spin-off Idea, but where does this fanarts came from? Does v&t7k became a comic or a fic or something? I'm lost and I can't seem to find anything other than just fanarts of them... I wanted to know because Varian is my favorite and I've been looking everywhere and all I found on the creators of the AU(?) Is just them answering some questions of it... I need a few pointers... TwT

How come there are no stories and no fanart of Varian worrying about becoming like his mother?

And I don't mean the evil spirit thing.

I mean the whole cheated on her spouse and abandoned her family thing.

If he's supposed to be so much like her, why isn't he worried he could end up doing something like that?

Plus, he's a huge Flynn Rider fan, he knows about infidelity and betraying loved ones.

I think Varian should worry himself about that.

You mean post-V&t7k? I think that he would see in him his father's endless loyalty, both to the Moon and his mother, seeing as his father never remarried even when he was told she was dead, because there was no body. As for Varian's personal relationships, it really depends on what you're going with. Varian, in TREL, seems to right now be having a pretty open and casual relationship with Hugo and several others, and is kind-of engaged to Lucas, so even if he decides in the end he's going to stick with Hugo and stop the casual dating, he's still got Lucas, too. But, as for other stories, Varian is extremely loyal and devoted, and once he's decided on one person, he sticks with them. He's more likely to be the one agreeing to letting someone else join their relationship than being the cheater himself, because he's devoted and loving and that can be to his detriment and get him hurt sometimes. I really don't see him ever cheating on Hugo in a fic where they're a monogamous couple. Remember, his role model was his ever-devoted father, who was loyal to the King, to his people, to Varia, his mother's memory and the Moon. You might say he's stretching himself a little thin, but loyalty was his father's key trait, and even when things were bad between him and Frederic after the Sundrop Flower was picked, he was still loyal to his friend of many years. Even when he thought Ulla was dead, he still kept her side of the bed empty. And Varian has that, too. His mother is more like Rapunzel in how she's easily distracted and flitting from one cool thing to the next, and while Varian does look like her and does alchemy like her and has a temper like her, he's usually pretty focused unless someone shoves a distraction in his face. Besides, as you say, he knows all about that stuff, and he knows how much it hurts people and knows not to do it. That's why no one does any stories of him cheating, no matter what ship he's in.
