I miss when Hulu used to have a comments section under every video, there was always something interesting (in a human behavior curiosity kind of way) about scrolling down to see usually an absolutely ridiculous collection of people having a rowdy open forum discussion about something you just watched that you had a completely neutral non-reaction to
#unfortunately - everything still trends toward homogenization#people especially tech comanies can't just have their own fucign unique thing. they have to look and act like every other service#to ''''compete''' apparently (even though like... wouldn't having unique features be instead a NOVEL draw to your specific product? wouldn't#you want to stand out???)#Like OKCupid completely over-simplfying their site into bare bones sleek nothingness and taking away all the features that made it unique#in any way (high customization - various personality ranking scales and a LOT of various visible data/information) .. because oh yeah#actually we have to be tinder and just quick emoji blurb swipe swipe#Hulu trying to be netflix and taking away anything that made it stand out in any posiive way (comments section.. other things that I forget#since I've been using it since like 2009 or something)#Youtube.... everything youtube does.... god.......#All social media sites are exactly the same now with extremely minor differences and even then still frequently implement samey#features to try and close those differences#etc. etc.#ANYWAY . i think also the hulu comments sections were facebook linked - like..one of the ways you could actually verify yourself to#leave a comment was having a facebook login (AT LEAST in like 2010.. I don't remember if they changed this at some point)#so you could also usually (I think..?? again.. if I'm rmembering correclty) you could get to someone's facebook profile#from the comments section sometime. I used to watch stuff and then scroll down to see what The Masses were saying and sometimes#someone's comment would be so strange I'd like.. go investigate them as a person#see what type of posts they make on their personal facebook which was always way too public with none of their information#privated of course lol

TL;DR: Steam just made library sharing so much fucking easier and so much fucking better. Instead of login-trading, it's just a simple goddamn invite.
Read this. Really. It's a good read. Because it shows that, full-stop, Valve isn't just doubling down on their stance to make sure that people can and should be able to share their copies of digital goods as easily as they can physical ones, but they're making it better and easier than ever.
But you know how Steam allowed you to, with either friends or family, link accounts with another person to be able to establish an ability to share game libraries with one another? The general gist of Steam Family Sharing was that, with a limit of five people plus you (six in total) on a limit of ten computers total could share account access to willingly mix your libraries. You could play theirs. They could play yours.
This was a huge boon. It was meant to emulate sharing a physical copy of a game. A way to allow children to play games their parents or siblings had bought without having to fork over double the cash to buy it a second game. But it had some major limitations and drawbacks, and was archaic to use.
If a person did not share the same computer, you had to manually log into that computer to give it and the accounts on it access. This wouldn't be a problem if both accounts were used on the same computer, but many households (and astronomically more family and friend groups) had multiple computers, all used by different people.
If that computer, at any point, was hard reset to any point before the sharing occurred, you lost access. And had to do the whole process again. This was also an issue with computer transfers. The whole kit and kaboodle needed to be redone on upgrades. On top of that, the old computer is now just dead weight that you may not realize you have to manually revoke access to.
Putting your account information on another person's computer opens up security issues. They could, intentionally or accidentally, land themselves on your account if the login information was stored. Which could easily lead to purchases or bans you did not want to happen.
If anyone was, at any point, playing any game on their own library, you had no access to their games. Even if it was a totally different game, you had to wait your turn as if waiting for their computer to be freed up to sit at. (Admittedly this is kind of like the "mom said it's my turn on the xbox" meme, but hey, kinda archaic.)
You could not choose whose library you accessed a game from. Not at all. It always prioritized the first library it gained access from, DLC access and multiplayer be damned. If another friend you were accepting games from had more DLC? Too bad.
And yet here we are. Steam Families Beta fixes EVERYTHING about the above issues. By just going through Settings > Interface > client Beta Participation and clicking onto Steam Families Beta? You get:
No more login sharing. No more computer links. You can now choose which person's library you borrowed from. And you can play any other game from someone's library, even while they're in-game. It just needs to be a different game than what they're playing.
Pick five people. Invite them to your family. And now everyone has access to everyone's library. My goddamn library went from 150-ish to almost a goddamn thousand in ten minutes of setup.
Account sharing and password sharing are dirty words that "lose" billions of dollars. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Max. They aren't game storefronts, but they still allow you to access massive libraries and scream like you murdered their firstborns for daring to share your password with your mother after you moved out.
Microsoft tried pushing to demonize and undercut used games sales and borrowed copies of physical games. Remember the first attempt to reveal the Xbox One? People forget, but these vultures tried to make an always online console that checked to see if you were the account that owned the game, even if you had a physical disc, and prevent access to the disc's contents if you weren't the original downloader.
Valve walked the fuck up. Valve tapped the mic. And Valve dropped the fucking thing right onto the ground with one feature's revamp.
About the only issues I can see with this are twofold:
If someone sharing your library gets banned from a game's servers... so do you. No one else in the family does, but the both of you do. This is... rather unpleasant, because banhammers can be dropped quite frequently by mistake. I'd urge Valve to rethink this one, but I see the logic: don't cheat and effectively bite the hand feeding you. Still making me side-eye that, though.
If you leave a family you've joined? You have to wait a YEAR to join a new one. It's to prevent people form jumping ship to another group and screwing over who's in the former one in the process, but a YEAR? OUCH.
Problems aside, though... it's probably the biggest fucking power move I have ever seen a media distributor make in the current economic climate. It's the kind of thing that would let so many new games be available in a way that's easier than ever. Just a few clicks to send or accept an invite, and bam. Permanent access to dozens or even hundreds of new games with so much more freedom than earlier drafts of the system.
It's the kind of thing that slaps you in the face with positivity after so many Ls from the games and media industries. And I'm all the fuck for a W like this.

Disney Plus Review
Disney Plus is an online streaming service that lets users customize up to seven custom profiles so they can see content they like. It includes a Kids Mode and parental controls so parents can control what content their kids can view. It recently added a GroupWatch feature that lets up to seven people watch content together. This feature helps users to enjoy different content with family and friends.
Free trial
Disney offers a seven-day free trial of its subscription service. During the free trial, subscribers can stream as many episodes as they want without being billed for the service. They can also watch as many movies as they want without being restricted to a single screen. As an added benefit, Disney Plus allows up to seven user profiles, so that multiple people can use it at the same time. Moreover, users can download the videos to as many devices as they want. The service is available on many devices, including smart TVs, PCs, Mac OS, Android devices and select game consoles. The subscription fee is $8 per month or $80 per year.
Subscriptions to Disney Plus require a valid credit card. During the free trial, you must fill in your email address and set a strong password. Once the registration process has been completed, you will be asked to enter your credit card information. Once you confirm your payment details, click "Agree" to subscribe. If you do not wish to use a credit card, you can also pay through PayPal.
Cost
As of December 8, the Walt Disney Company plans to raise the price of Disney Plus and Hulu. The former will rise to $11 a month, while the latter will become ad-supported. Regardless of the price increase, subscribers will have more options to view their favorite shows and movies, including those starring Mickey Mouse.
Unlike other subscription services, Disney Plus will not offer a free trial period. Instead, subscribers will be charged monthly for access to all Disney content. However, if you are looking for a cheaper option, you can bundle the two options. For example, you can bundle the Disney Plus login service with Hulu or ESPN Plus. Disney also plans to release a new entertainment-focused bundle this December that combines the two services.
Another factor that influences the cost of a video streaming app is the complexity of the app. The cost of a video streaming app varies, depending on the complexity of the app, and the number of platforms it needs to support. The Disney Plus app is expected to reach number six in the following year.

Hulu Activation: Are You Making These Common Mistakes?
Activating a Hulu account might seem like a straightforward process, but common mistakes can turn this simple task into a frustrating ordeal. In this article, we'll explore some of the most frequent errors users make during Hulu activation and provide solutions to ensure a seamless streaming experience.
1. Not Checking Compatibility
One of the most common mistakes users make is attempting to activate Hulu on incompatible devices. Before beginning the activation process, it's essential to ensure that your device meets Hulu's compatibility requirements. Whether you're using a smart TV, streaming device, or gaming console, verify that it supports Hulu and is updated to the latest firmware or software version.
2. Using Incorrect Credentials
Another prevalent mistake is entering incorrect login credentials during the activation process. Whether it's a typo in the email address or a forgotten password, inputting wrong information can prevent successful activation. To avoid this, double-check your email address and password before proceeding with activation. If necessary, reset your password to ensure accuracy.
3. Skipping Account Verification
Hulu requires account verification to confirm your identity and ensure the security of your account. Some users make the mistake of skipping this step, thinking it's unnecessary or inconvenient. However, failing to verify your account can lead to activation errors or account issues later on. Take the time to complete the verification process to prevent any potential problems down the line.

VPN benefits for streaming
A Virtual Private Network (VPN) offers numerous benefits for streaming enthusiasts looking to enhance their online viewing experience. By using a VPN service, individuals can unlock a wide array of advantages that contribute to a seamless and unrestricted streaming experience.
One of the primary benefits of utilizing a VPN for streaming is the ability to access geo-restricted content. Many streaming platforms, such as Netflix, Hulu, and BBC iPlayer, limit their content based on the user's geographic location. By connecting to a VPN server located in a different region, viewers can bypass these restrictions and unlock a broader selection of movies, TV shows, and other content that may not be available in their area.
Additionally, a VPN can help users bypass internet throttling imposed by their internet service provider (ISP). Some ISPs throttle the internet speed for streaming services, leading to buffering and poor video quality. By using a VPN to encrypt their internet connection, users can prevent ISPs from detecting their streaming activities and enjoy a smoother viewing experience without interruptions.
Furthermore, VPNs enhance online security and privacy by encrypting data transmitted over the internet. This means that streaming enthusiasts can enjoy their favorite content without worrying about potential privacy breaches or cyber threats. With their IP address masked and data encrypted, users can stream anonymously and protect their personal information from prying eyes.
In conclusion, VPNs offer a range of benefits for streaming enthusiasts, including access to geo-restricted content, prevention of internet throttling, and enhanced online security and privacy. By incorporating a VPN into their streaming setup, users can elevate their viewing experience and enjoy their favorite content without limitations.
Risks of streaming without VPN
Streaming content online has become a staple of modern entertainment consumption. With platforms like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video offering a plethora of movies and TV shows at our fingertips, it's no wonder streaming has skyrocketed in popularity. However, many users are unaware of the risks associated with streaming without a Virtual Private Network (VPN).
One of the primary concerns of streaming without a VPN is privacy. When you stream content without encryption, your internet service provider (ISP) can monitor your online activity, including the websites you visit and the content you stream. This data can then be sold to advertisers or even used against you in legal proceedings.
Furthermore, streaming without a VPN leaves your personal information vulnerable to hackers. Cybercriminals can intercept your connection and access sensitive data such as your login credentials, financial information, and browsing history. This puts you at risk of identity theft, fraud, and other cyberattacks.
Another risk of streaming without a VPN is geo-blocking. Many streaming services restrict access to certain content based on your location. Without a VPN, you may miss out on your favorite shows and movies simply because they're not available in your country.
Lastly, streaming without a VPN can expose you to copyright infringement claims. By accessing copyrighted content without proper authorization, you could face legal consequences such as fines or even criminal charges.
In conclusion, streaming without a VPN poses several risks to your privacy, security, and legal standing. To protect yourself while enjoying your favorite content online, it's essential to use a reliable VPN service that encrypts your connection and hides your IP address. By taking this simple precaution, you can stream with peace of mind knowing that your personal information is safe and secure.
VPN impact on streaming speed
Title: Maximizing Streaming Speed: How VPNs Impact Your Viewing Experience
In the realm of online streaming, where speed is king, Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) have emerged as both a tool for privacy and a potential bottleneck for streaming speed. Understanding their impact on your viewing experience is essential for making informed decisions about your online security and entertainment.
VPN technology encrypts your internet connection, routing it through a remote server before reaching its destination. While this encryption is crucial for safeguarding your data from prying eyes, it can introduce latency and reduce bandwidth, affecting streaming speed.
One primary factor influencing the impact of a VPN on streaming speed is server location. Choosing a server close to your physical location can minimize latency and optimize speed. Additionally, selecting a VPN provider with a vast network of high-speed servers can help mitigate any slowdowns.
Furthermore, the encryption protocols used by VPNs can affect streaming performance. Advanced protocols like OpenVPN and WireGuard offer a balance between security and speed, while older protocols may slow down your connection.
However, despite the potential for reduced speed, VPNs can actually improve streaming performance in some cases. By bypassing throttling imposed by Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and accessing geo-restricted content libraries, VPNs can unlock faster streaming speeds and a broader range of content options.
Ultimately, the impact of a VPN on streaming speed depends on various factors, including server location, encryption protocols, and ISP throttling. By selecting a reputable VPN provider and optimizing your server settings, you can enjoy enhanced privacy without sacrificing streaming performance. Finding the right balance between security and speed is key to maximizing your streaming experience in an increasingly digital world.
VPN legality for streaming
When it comes to using a VPN for streaming, the legality of the practice can vary depending on where you are located and the specific streaming content you are accessing. In many countries, using a VPN to stream content that is otherwise unavailable in your region is legal. However, there are certain streaming platforms and services that have policies against the use of VPNs and may ban accounts caught using them.
It is important to note that while using a VPN to access geo-restricted content is not illegal in most places, engaging in any activities that violate copyright laws is still prohibited. This means that streaming copyrighted content without the proper authorization is illegal, regardless of whether you are using a VPN or not.
Additionally, some countries have stricter regulations when it comes to VPN usage, so it is essential to understand the legal implications in your specific location. It is always recommended to use a reputable VPN service that values user privacy and security to ensure a safe and legal streaming experience.
In conclusion, the legality of using a VPN for streaming is a complex issue that depends on various factors such as your location, the content you are accessing, and the policies of the streaming platforms. By staying informed and using VPN services responsibly, you can enjoy a more secure and private streaming experience while staying on the right side of the law.

VPN anonymity detection
VPN anonymity detection is a crucial aspect to consider for anyone looking to maintain their online privacy and security. A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is commonly used to create a secure and encrypted connection between an individual's device and the internet. However, it is important to understand that not all VPN services provide the same level of anonymity protection.
One of the key factors in VPN anonymity detection is the logging policy of the VPN service provider. Some VPN companies may keep logs of their users' online activities, which can compromise their anonymity. It is essential to choose a VPN provider that has a strict no-logs policy to ensure that your online activities remain private and anonymous.
Another aspect to consider in VPN anonymity detection is the location of the VPN servers. Some countries have strict data retention laws, which may require VPN providers to store users' data for a certain period. Opting for a VPN service that operates servers in privacy-friendly jurisdictions can help enhance anonymity protection.
Additionally, VPN anonymity detection involves assessing the encryption protocols used by the VPN service. Strong encryption protocols like OpenVPN or WireGuard can ensure that your internet traffic is secure and anonymized.
In conclusion, VPN anonymity detection is vital for safeguarding your online privacy and security. By choosing a reputable VPN service provider with a strict no-logs policy, servers in privacy-friendly jurisdictions, and strong encryption protocols, you can enhance your anonymity while browsing the internet.
Visibility of VPN usage
The visibility of VPN usage has increased significantly in recent years due to growing concerns about online privacy and security. VPNs, or Virtual Private Networks, allow users to encrypt their internet connection, making it more difficult for hackers, governments, and internet service providers to monitor their online activities.
One of the main reasons for the rising popularity of VPNs is the increasing number of cyber threats and data breaches. By using a VPN, individuals can protect their sensitive information, such as login credentials, financial details, and personal communications, from prying eyes. This added layer of security is particularly important when using public Wi-Fi networks, which are often targeted by cybercriminals looking to intercept data transmissions.
Moreover, VPNs enable users to bypass internet censorship and access geo-restricted content. For example, individuals living in countries with strict internet regulations can use a VPN to access blocked websites and online services. Additionally, streaming enthusiasts can use VPNs to unlock regional content libraries on platforms like Netflix and Hulu.
Despite the many benefits of using a VPN, it's essential to choose a reputable provider to ensure data privacy and security. Some VPN services may log user activity or leak IP addresses, compromising the anonymity that VPN users seek. Therefore, it's crucial to research and select a trusted VPN provider that offers strong encryption protocols, a no-logs policy, and reliable servers.
In conclusion, the visibility of VPN usage continues to grow as individuals prioritize their online privacy and security. By utilizing a VPN, users can safeguard their digital footprints, access restricted content, and browse the internet anonymously.
Detecting VPN presence
Detecting VPN presence has become an increasingly crucial task for various online platforms and services due to the rising concerns surrounding security, privacy, and regulatory compliance. A Virtual Private Network (VPN) allows users to encrypt their internet connection and mask their IP address, thereby enhancing privacy and security. While VPNs offer many legitimate uses, they can also be used to bypass geo-restrictions, evade censorship, and engage in illicit activities.
One method to detect VPN presence is through IP address analysis. VPN providers often use a range of IP addresses that can be identified through IP intelligence databases. By cross-referencing the user's IP address with these databases, organizations can determine if the IP belongs to a known VPN provider.
Another approach involves examining network traffic patterns. VPNs typically exhibit distinctive traffic characteristics, such as high data encryption and tunneling protocols like OpenVPN or IPSec. By analyzing network traffic metadata, including packet size, timing, and header information, it's possible to identify patterns consistent with VPN usage.

For example, by connecting to a server in the United States, you can access the full library of shows and movies available on American Netflix, which is often much larger than what is available in other countries.
Additionally, a VPN can help improve streaming speeds by bypassing ISP throttling and optimizing your connection for streaming purposes. This can result in a smoother and more reliable streaming experience, with less buffering and interruptions.
It is important to note that while using a VPN to bypass streaming restrictions is technically against the terms of service of most streaming platforms, the practice is generally tolerated as long as it is not used for illegal purposes. As such, it is essential to use a reputable VPN service that prioritizes user privacy and security to ensure a safe and seamless streaming experience.
Risks of illegal streaming without VPN
Illegal streaming without VPN poses significant risks for users. When individuals engage in illegal streaming, they expose themselves to various potential dangers that could compromise their online security and privacy.
One of the primary risks of illegal streaming without a VPN is the threat of cyber attacks. Hackers often target users who access copyrighted content through illegal streaming websites, exploiting vulnerabilities in their internet connection to steal personal information such as financial details or login credentials. By using a VPN, users can encrypt their online activities and protect themselves from these malicious attacks.
Furthermore, illegal streaming without VPN also exposes users to legal consequences. ISPs and copyright enforcement agencies actively monitor illegal streaming activities and may take legal action against those who engage in copyright infringement. By masking their IP address with a VPN, users can prevent their online activities from being traced back to them and reduce the risk of facing legal penalties.
Moreover, illegal streaming without VPN can also lead to exposure to malware and malicious software. Many illegal streaming websites are riddled with ads and pop-ups that may contain malware designed to infect users' devices and steal sensitive information. By using a VPN, users can block these intrusive ads and safeguard their devices from potential cyber threats.
In conclusion, the risks of illegal streaming without VPN are numerous and serious. To protect their online security, privacy, and avoid legal repercussions, users should always use a VPN when engaging in any form of online streaming, especially when accessing copyrighted content through illegal channels.
Legal consequences of streaming without VPN
Streaming without a VPN can have serious legal consequences that individuals should be aware of. When individuals access copyrighted material through streaming services without using a VPN, they are at risk of violating copyright laws. This can lead to legal action being taken against them by copyright holders.
Copyright holders have the right to take legal action against individuals who access their content without authorization. This can result in individuals facing hefty fines and even potential criminal charges. By not using a VPN while streaming, individuals are more likely to have their online activities tracked, making it easier for copyright holders to identify and pursue legal action against them.
Furthermore, streaming without a VPN can also expose individuals to other risks such as hacking and identity theft. Without the encryption and anonymity provided by a VPN, individuals' personal information and online activities are vulnerable to being intercepted by malicious parties.
In order to avoid the legal consequences of streaming without a VPN, it is highly recommended to use a VPN whenever accessing online streaming services. A VPN helps protect users' privacy and security by encrypting their internet connection and masking their IP address, making it much more difficult for copyright holders and hackers to track their online activities.
In conclusion, streaming without a VPN can have serious legal implications, including facing copyright infringement charges and exposing oneself to online threats. It is important for individuals to prioritize their online security and privacy by using a VPN when streaming content online.
VPN necessity for streaming copyrighted content
Using a VPN when streaming copyrighted content has become increasingly necessary in today's digital age. With the rise of online streaming services and the prevalence of copyright infringement, users can benefit from the privacy and security that a VPN provides.
A VPN, or Virtual Private Network, encrypts your internet connection and hides your IP address, making it difficult for third parties to track your online activity. This added layer of security is crucial when streaming copyrighted content, as it helps protect your identity and data from potential threats.
Streaming copyrighted content without a VPN can leave you vulnerable to legal consequences, as your internet service provider (ISP) and copyright holders can monitor your online activity and potentially take legal action against you. By using a VPN, you can mask your IP address and location, making it harder for authorities to trace your online behavior back to you.
Furthermore, a VPN can also help you bypass geographic restrictions and access content that may be blocked in your region. This is particularly useful for streaming services that limit access based on your location, allowing you to enjoy a wider range of content without any restrictions.
In conclusion, using a VPN when streaming copyrighted content is not only a matter of privacy and security but also a way to ensure that you can enjoy your favorite shows and movies without putting yourself at risk. Consider investing in a reliable VPN service to protect yourself while streaming online.

From a legal standpoint, there are no specific regulations in Canada that prohibit the use of VPNs. However, it's important to note that while VPN usage itself is legal, certain activities conducted through VPNs may still be subject to existing laws and regulations. For instance, engaging in illegal activities such as copyright infringement or cybercrime while using a VPN is still illegal and punishable by law.
Additionally, businesses offering VPN services in Canada are required to adhere to privacy laws such as the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). This legislation governs the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information by private sector organizations. VPN providers must ensure that they comply with PIPEDA by implementing appropriate measures to protect the privacy and security of their users' data.
Furthermore, it's essential for users to choose reputable VPN providers that prioritize user privacy and security. This includes selecting VPN services that do not log user activity or store personally identifiable information. By opting for trustworthy VPN providers with robust privacy policies, users can mitigate the risk of their data being compromised.
In summary, VPN usage is legal in Canada, but users must still adhere to applicable laws and regulations. Selecting a reputable VPN provider and using the service responsibly can help individuals and businesses safeguard their online privacy and security while operating within the legal framework.
