Back with another round of 2022 Huluween shorts, we get NIAN from filmmaker  Michelle Krusiec. The beginning starts a little shaky with the dialogue, but man, the scare scene at the end really lifts this film up with impressive special & practical effects. That section alone could compete with many straight to streaming titles that I’ve seen lately. Krusiec’s clever use of Chinese mythology with the Nian legend, adds history and weight to her timely story about modern day anti-Asian racism. At roughly six minutes, you should certainly give this horror short a look!

Tonight I watched another short film, Unicorn (2022) from the Huluween collection. It was short, sweet, and made me smile. It argues that any sex demon would respect a safe word and like...yeah man. For sure 🤘
