When I got home from the wedding last night (after having already been gone the first half of the day at a dog show), he hopped in place five times at the gate in greeting and brought me a bone. Then he was halfway in my lap like this for a good while (pls note that he is made of raw chicken breasts):

only bad thing about being in a fandom where one of the characters canonically has wings is the painful lack of classic wingfic. where is my everything's the same but people have bird wings watford au where one day baz notices simon hasn't been grooming his wings bc of an injury to his ribs so he sits on his bed and makes a whole fuss about how "i'm not doing this to be nice, snow, your wings are just a travesty to look at" and then proceeds to carefully and lovingly tidy his feathers in drawn out silence while they both pretend grooming someone else's wings isn't one of the most intimate things you can do for another person. will this heartbreak never end

GOOD NEWS: i got to swim for almost five hours straight yesterday! the dream! my favorite thing! if i could've slept there i would have BAD NEWS: turns out i couldn't reach my back as well as i thought i could, because even re-applying sunscreen regularly could not save me from the two perfect crescents of lobster-red first-degree sunburn i'm currently sporting. i am gonna wear a rash-guard next time oTL

And spotted. All along his cheeks and his throat, clear little dots of brown–Nereus, his face was covered in them like a pretty little Nursehound’s. It was so obviously a shark's feature; a mermaid's feature. A familiar feature, and one I never expected to see on a mouth-breather's face. We were so close I could have leaned up in that moment and bit him on the nose. It’s a miracle he didn’t kick me in the claspers while trying to right himself.

In my au Sonny got involved with a handsome adventurer when he was still younger, but later their relationship became unbearable and abusive. Bernie doesn't know about it. But on Sodor, Sonny was able to recover and start living from scratch.

it's been six years since i first read co and i still get so annoyed whenever someone says that vampires lacking traditional vampire features or being able to circumvent traditional vampirism "misses the point". which point? the point of vampirism can be whatever you want it to be!!! my favourite vampire book sets up a traditional vampire story then comes within a hair's breadth of saying that vampires are actually a violently oppressed minority and everything we think we know about vampirism is just a demonising / dehumanising myth, and going the whole way wouldn't have "ruined it", it would have fucking ruled
