google docs!! I've been considering moving somewhere else cos their AI shit is getting really annoying but I have so many things that it seems like so much work to move everything so it's a bit daunting 😭

I also write quite a lot on paper but that's in earlier stages

We all love the little ‘meep’ Stede makes after his first kiss with Ed - (it is actually carved onto my soul, I’ve checked). But there is a little ‘humm’ he makes just prior after Ed says this:

‘These past few weeks, are the most fun I’ve had in ages… years… maybe ever…’

And Stede just goes ‘humm’, widens his eyes a little, gives a slight nod, looks down. He’s listening. He’s doing the Stede-thing he’s so good at - listening impartially as he did in the bathtub scene. But his wonderful ability to listen without prejudice means he completely misses the nuance here.

‘Humm…’

Ed’s talking really slowly, waiting for the penny to drop…

But he has to go even slower and spell it out.

‘So……so…er…I reckon..what..makes Ed happy…is……….you.’

I’ve tried to reflect above the pauses Ed takes whilst saying this line. We all know it, but seeing it transcribed really brings home how nervous Ed is. I’m just amazed he doesn’t throw up.

And Stede’s eyebrows and sideways smile say ‘Me?’

…because Stede still has the wrong ears on!

He has the wrong ears on for many reasons, both positive and negative. Yes, he has very low self-esteem, no one has ever shown love to him; yes, he’s never likely felt desire before, or just thinks it’s not for him. But he’s also a kind, empathetic, altruistic listener. He doesn’t realise he is the subject of the conversation. Not in a million years does Stede think the answer to ‘what makes Ed happy’ will be him.

And he’s still confused, really. So Ed just has to say to hell with it and kiss him. Show him Ed’s feelings and his own. It’s such a lovely awakening.

But, yeah. That little ‘humm’ is so full of humility and lacking in ego. It’s delightful. Stede Bonnet is delightful.

i loove how much you’re playing into siffrin being an islander and just how much that loss of identity affected them!! because ofc with his obsessive tendencies he would just dive headfirst into trying to get back what he’s lost!!

also i was wondering if your world had something like braille or a white cane, to help them navigate the world a bit more autonomously (when they’re ready for it ofc)

Thank you! I am so happy you enjoy how i treat siffrin as a toy to put under microscopes and twist around, and his islander identity/lack of identity has always been one of my favorite things from canon <3

I have a hug comic in mind so rest assured the researcher will get a non overstimulating hug eventually!! (might take some time though cause... it would be a long comic, save me)

There is braille and a white cane in my world! I will slap the researcher with a cane eventually (inside of me there are two wolves, one is in pain cause it is insane that Siffrin doesn't have a cane yet??? The other is chill cause this bastard gets full marks at self sabotage, so of course they don't have a cane-) as for braille! The researcher can't read it and they avoid learning it.

The star language was made to be forgotten. Learning Vanguardian/existing in a place bigger than a single building already majorly fucked up their memory, so they are terrified that if they don't read only the star books they'll stop being able to. Siffrin learned vanguardian to be able to communicate the basics/not hurt others, but they have no interest in the country, they want to go back to their tower to be alone every day.

funfact: they did acidentally enjoyed 'the curse of chateau castle' after reading a translation but since he always forget everything by the time he finds another translated volume he doesn't know he is a fan.

i wonder how much he would regret accepting that helmet, once again betraying Charles’s trust and now never being able to gain it back

either Erik leaves the horsemen (maybe bringing some of them with him) and rallies the xmen to go kill Apocalypse or out of such anger and grief and regret he does end up destroying the world and he has to live with the fact that everything he loves will be destroyed

i don’t think he would even have any free will anymore since Apocalypse has Charles’s telepathy

or maybe he still has the helmet who knows
