So, I started watching Secret Forest from where I left it (now that I've completed Evil). AND I WAS NOT READY.

Summary: While Yeo-jin visits Yoon Se-won, Si-mok pays one more call of his own on the way to Wonju. Missing scenes from S2E16.

just saying but AUs i would like to see magically come into existence:

timetravel with si-mok waking up near the start of s1 and tries to fix everything that went wrong. far easier said than done (and impossible, in the case of park moo-sung). also having to confront the extent of his isolation at the start of s1 + the very real possibility that anything he does could well mean never having that same bond with han yeo-jin in this universe. but he refuses to fail eun-soo again. (yeo-jin, unsurprisingly, finds this prosecutor guy even more Suspicious As Heck right from the get-go)

timeloop with the above initial premise, except that he's already tried and failed three times… and somehow ends up dragging yeo-jin back in time with him on the fourth. for better or worse, and to his sheer disbelief. though he also can't not believe it, because – because. (illogically, it's her knowledge of him that convinces more than anything else.) (on her part, yeo-jin is relieved to finally have the last bits of si-mok's inexplicable behaviour from the previous timeline explained, but also incredibly furious because Why Didn't You Tell Me You Utter Bean.) ("would you have believed me?" he asks, except even less like a question than his usual flat inflection, and yeo-jin doesn't know how to answer because she's honest, she's always been, and even if she weren't she could never lie to him.)

also something something magical realism au where most things are the same but the surgery was instead because bb!si-mok was an empath with everything turned all the way too far up. alas, side effects. (also see: free lifelong indelible association of any even moderately strong emotion to physical pain!) (not 'was', yeo-jin thinks, frowning, but doesn't say anything aloud just yet.)

Watching the Kdrama Stranger made me realize that somehow the man who genuinely lacks empathy and emotions due to a medical condition is somehow the man whom almost all the women in the show feel the safest and most comfortable with.

This, according to me, is the most strikingly positive quality of Hwang Si-mok and why he deserves to be the prosecutor despite his condition.🤍

I should probably let people know that I am in fact going to finish Sins of the Father one day. As evidence to support this claim, I give you:

Kang Won-Cul watched Hwang-pro enter the restaurant, his mind clearly elsewhere. The younger man almost collided with a bustling waiter, stopping only at the last minute when the waiter gasped in alarm. He bowed an apology and shook his head as if to clear it.

Truly this had been a day of unprecedented events. First, the dinner invitation, then properly meeting the police detective Hwang-pro had partnered with on the Park Moo-Sung case, and now this: the prosecutor whose humanity had been questioned almost weekly back in the Western Seoul Prosecutor’s Office looking to all the world like a preteen navigating his first crush.

Won-Chul had seen Hwang-pro in a daze before. After the death of Young Eun-Soo, the man had been lost in guilt and grief, and ultimately rage. When seeking Won-Chul’s help as Chief Prosecutor to get that scam artist taken care of, the younger prosecutor had been almost dizzy in his desperation to right that wrong, though Won-Chul had never known why. just wanted to share that stranger/secret forest s1, s2, and dongjae spin-off are 3 dramas i hold super dear to my heart.

these dramas aren't my first exposure to kdramas (and im very grateful they are, bc idt many can match that the standards set). but the way stranger sucked me in right from the start (im a huge thriller fan so. makes sense.) was insane.

the way i binged the whole s1, digested it, and then binged the whole of s2,, i think i was possessed LOL. to think that i only discovered this gem of a universe was through the little ad on tvn on dongjae. (thank you dongjae. my pookie ❤️)

i actually have no idea how to coherently organise my thoughts, bc i think a lot of what i have rn is just feelings. i love this universe so much and really, i can't wait for s3, s4, and even s5. (mr cho seungwoo promised an s5, so i will wait for an s5.)
