Obligatory disclaimer that Illyria, Iberia, Dacia, Thrace, Gaul, and Ancient Libya had other personifications due to the number of diverse tribes inhabiting these regions they’re just standing in as overall representatives haha
These are just some cute ancients chibis I’ve been working on! If there’s interest, I might turn them into stickers hehe, but for now I’m pretty satisfied with how these designs turned out, and I definitely want to draw them more later!
I probably should not be postimg this at this hour becsuse I am gonna notice so many mistakes in the morning, but whatevs. Apparently, during thunderstorms, the Getae would shoot arrows aimed at the thunder and the lightning into the sky. So this inspired me to draw something with my Dacia OC.
Vasile sat at his mother's side. His mother happens to be the Care of Magical Creatures teacher here at Hogwarts. Brown eyes of the fourth year Puffball look up at her as she took care of the phoenix on her arm. He always loved helping her take care of magical creatures.
"Mama?" Vasile asked. "You think one day I could show our phoenix to Lukas?" Zia smiled. "Of course, sweetie. And maybe you could tell him that our phoenix gave up two feathers to be wand cores." "Wait, really?" Vasile asked. A nod from his mother. "I have no reason to lie to you."
"Lukas!" Vasile called out with a bright smile. He waved his hand high in the air to get the fourth year Slytherin's attention. Purple eyes of the Norwegian look over at the Romanian before he made his way over. "Vasile," he said. "What's up?" "There's something I want to show you," Vasile said, his eyes sparkling. "What is it?" Lukas asked. Vasile took Lukas by the hand and took him to the Care of Magical Creatures classroom. Lo and behold, sitting on a lone tree trunk is a phoenix. "Is that what I think it is?" Lukas asked as he watched the phoenix preen itself. "It's my mom's phoenix," Vasile said. "They're hard to domesticate I heard," Lukas said. "My mom always said the lore with phoenixes is that one will appear to anyone in the Lupei family in dire need," Vasile said. "She's had this one for a long time as well. Oh, and he gave up two feathers to be wand cores." This made Lukas look at Vasile again. "Eirik's wand core is that of a phoenix."

Summary: Zia is a busy single mom and barely gets to spend quality time with her kids. One Friday night, however, she takes the time out of her long day to bake cookies with them.
one day I will write about Ancient Rome and Romania and Ro's daddy issues (and parent issues in general). For someone who was in Ro's life for not very long (like a few hundred years at most) Rome sure gave Ro so many issues (to be fair so did Dacia and most of his parental figures) <3
I don't talk about him much, but i think sometimes about my Thrace OC (like, the civilisation I mean)
Originally, I was gonna give him dark brown hair but I have been thinking about giving him dark red hait since he would look too similar to Bulgaria (since they both would have green eyes).
Personality wise, he's kind of like Bulgaria, although perhaps a tad more neurotic. And also really into fighting and poetry. And jewelry.
And also he had children. Some survived to the modern era, some died sadly. Bulgaria is not his child, thought he grew fond of him and was a kind of morally questionable...parental figure to him in his dying days.
Also the concept of Thrace as a ghost/spirit coming to visit Bulgaria at certain points in his life and talk to him, maybe give him questionable advice, is kinda fun.
Also again, personality wise they can both be similar, which is funny becuase at times I imagine they could piss eachoter off and annoy eachoter(and if I wrote a story with them, there would be so many character parallels between them). So it would be them really getting pissed off at traits they themselves have.
Alsoooo. Since I see Ro as being kind of Dacia's child, and Dacia is Thrace's sister...I can just see Thrace seeing Bul & interact with Ro and just being like "NO. NO. NOOOOO" because he's not exactly happy about the idea of his weird kind-of adopted child possibly getting together in the future with his sister's child (and he might be a tad protective of Dacia's children since she kind of dies before him, even tho she is his younger sister and he feels like he's failed her. So he deals with it by coming a bit overprotective of what he considers to be the last remnants of her)
Dacia having pet wolves...well tehnically theyre not pets as much as they are wolves who follow her around and are somewhat omnious(to other people). Also foxes maybe? Idk she deserves all the animals <3
if there's one thing Romania(and my other OCs, some of which are sorta her kids as well, hetalia genetics are complicated) inherited from Dacia, it's the ability to give invading empires a headache.
There's something kinda cute about Dacia's affiliation with wolves when I think of it. He has legends about them and created the dacic wolf as an empowerment symbol, the thing with a dragon body (which would be equivalent to a flag or a coat of arms now). It's also called dacic draco but we mainly specify the wolf part in romania and we just simply know we're meaning the dragon.
So in short, making him a dog person should be an onus.
Trying to figure out when Dacia died...I know I want her to die before Thrace does, I just don't know when exaxctly. Perhaps before the fall of Rome? She doesn't die after the conquest of Dacia, for she still continues to represent the dacians(who are being romanised). Its complicated aghh.
Thing is, the word 'dacian', albeit in different forms, continued to be thrown aroun even after the actual dacians perished, mostly by the byzantines, but it grew to mean ppl who live where Dacia used to be (so mostly romanians) and it did not have very good connotations also cause they considered dacians to be liars and deceitful. I'm probably oversimplifying it
