for soon mates hypothetical baby- i dunno wether it’d be funnier if Ethari was a nervous wreck when rayla went into labour vs if Runaan tried to be level headed but almost gives himself a panic attack

I think Runaan would have them driven absolutely barmy with "advice". Like, he'd definitely be the one sending articles to the family chat about new science in pregnant care/infant health, etc.

Which would stress Rayla out so Callum has a chat to Ethari about it and Ethari gets Runaan to cut down on forwarding this stuff but then Ethari has to deal with hearing about it and he's going out of his mind.

So then Callum hits upon the idea of getting Runaan to read through the instruction manuals for all the various baby items they want to purchase. They get him to weigh up pros and cons and recommend what he thinks is the best.

Which:

Gives Runaan something "useful" to do

More importantly, gives everyone else a break.

As to the whole labour situation, well, I have some ideas as to how all that might go down in this hypothetical situation that will never, ever be written.

i dunno why the idea popped into my head but

if zoom mates verse rayllum had a plan of when they might decide to have a kid like five years away

but say rayla got pregnant a year or two before the deadline she would convince herself that callum would be annoyed and be really nervous to tell him

only for him to burst into tears of joy

Rayla does tend to beat herself up for things outside of her control, even in the Zoom-mate verse.

it’s basically a combination of star wars and trek and they’re parents will have no idea what it is

Perhaps even Harrow and Ethari would get into it too, leaving Rayla, Callum and Runaan wondering where they went wrong.

if this obviously hypothetical zoom-mates baby isn’t adopted like Tio would you make it about Raylas postpartum?

I guess I’d be interested in exploring the whole shebang that come with deciding to have a baby. 🤷‍♀️

The original Zoom-mates fic is pretty whirlwind and the narrative follows them pretty closely. They went from strangers to lovers quickly in fic, so I think they’d actually want to chill and take things easy for a few years. Talk about kids, career moves and life plans. Make a conscious choice to have kids and all that entails. Pregnancy, the highs and lows. Similar with childbirth. The first few days, weeks and years and the differences they bring. Grandparents and how beat practice changes with time. Shadow not knowing who this interloper is. Ezran embracing frogs and baby Yodas.

So, honestly, very low drama. Pretty mundane.

One of those ideas that hangs around in my head, but I’m not quite sure I want to commit to.
