sometimes you have an idea thats like 'wow would that be fucked up or what?' and like. yeah. it would be fucked up.
VERY IMPORTANTLY: not canon. this is not canon to osis. but think about lock in your brain. it is so mentally well does not feel crippling guilt over the fact that it gave up.

Tragedy!
Halfway through 9 meters of ruffles my ruffle attachment broke 😭
The little bit that pushed the pleat somehow got under the needle and it broke. I don't know how that is possible. Now it drops pleats🥲

every single time i think to myself "I wanna quilt my own quilts! And this is just a throw size so it'll work fine on a regular sewing machine" and then two lines in my ribs and shoulders are screaming at me from trying to maneuver 25 square feet of fabric and backing through dozens of little microadjustments and I'm screaming at the quilt because I have invariably already fucked it up

My sewing machine decided it's time to start giving random error messages again whenever I sew.
It's a cheap, 200 euro digital machine, you get what you pay for.
First repair was 3 years back, 110 euros.
This time the estimate is 120 euros.
I am gladly gonna pay for that because 1) I refuse to buy a whole new sewing machine just because the bobbin tension fucks itself every 3 years, 2) sewing machines are one of the few things that still have repair shops semi-widely available, and 3) machine quality and inflation are making it that I couldn't even find an equivalent machine for the same price if I wanted to.

Sewing machines, man
Normal instructions: Hey be careful not to do X, or the results might not be as neat! Avoid Y, as it could waste materials. Make sure not to Z, or you'll have to start over!
Sewing machine instructions: Don't you DARE so much as TOUCH X. You see X, right there? DON'T TOUCH IT! I'M WARNING YOU! The machine will become possessed by vengeful ghosts and stab you to death while you sleep, we warned you! Make ABSOLUTE SURE you NEVER do Y. The needle will EXPLODE and PEPPER YOU WITH SHRAPNEL. And if you EVER, I mean EVER even THINK about doing Z, your entire living space will be ravaged by the literal hellfire that spews forth from your sewing machine. This also voids the warranty.

Cloaksforall sewalong - threading your sewing machine (Top thread)
I've seen people in the sewalong tags saying they just got their first sewing machine or had no experience at all, so I'll attempt to give a little help with the first hurdle of using a sewing machine; putting in the threads.
Every machine is different, but there are some general ways most machines are set up.
The thread at the top is most different per machine. Looking up your manual is best, but in general modern machines have you pull the thread inside (and will have little directional arrows if you're lucky).
Older machines have the thread external. The common elements are, in order of operations:
A stick to place the thread
A hook or loop that keeps the thread in place
It will go down and around the tension wheel
And up through the lever that moves up and down when you turn the wheel
And down again towards the needle, through a little guide and through the eye of the needle
For older machines, that tension loop has a little metal wire jiggling around:
Top thread done, now for the bobbin!
(This post got way too long and tumblr complained about the amount of photos, so GO HERE for bobbin threading)
