Hakuoki & Handwriting
this is the thing that has been sitting on my computer for three days lol -- i’m a sucker for handwritten letters because there’s just somehting so special and meaningful when someone gives you one -- thus, have my headcanons of their handwriting. obviously, they write in japanese which uses sounds instead of letters and is probably different but have their english signatures because fonts are fUN. one day maybe ill open up requests to do like little letter requests of something y’all send in by ask. when im not swamped by work XD
Hijikata - has to do a lot of writing already, so it’s kind messy neat if you know what i mean. You can read what he’s written but sometimes you’ll find a word that you’re like wtf is that. (In english), his writing is in cursive.
Tumblr media
Okita - his writing is very sharp. Probably prints (in english) it neatly, there’s usually no question of “what does this say?” Relatively neat, has a slant to right for sure.
Tumblr media
Saito - Unlike Okita’s it’s kind more scribbly. Slants to the left slightly and his strokes are usually thinner and lighter. A quick writer, probably, and due to that sometimes a little messy, but pretty legible.
Tumblr media
Heisuke - Writing his name is honestly the only time he’ll write neatly, otherwise it’s kind of a mess, letters slant different ways sometimes because he might multitask when he’s writing lol, talking to Harada or Shinpachi usually. His letters can get kind of tall (like capital ones)
Tumblr media
Harada - out of everyone, personally headcanon he and Iba have the more ‘cursive calligraphy’ like handwriting that’s consistent. His strokes are probably gentle like he is kek and he writes efficiently but you can ALWAYS read what it’s saying lol
Tumblr media
Shinpachi - His letters, whether in japanese or english, are very bold and thick. Sometimes scribbles out characters or the beginnings of words because he messed up. sometimes when he writes it smudges so people are like “What the actual fucking hell does that say” and a lot of squinting.
Tumblr media
Sanan - His handwriting is usually pretty good but when he’s doing research or is super excited, he rushes because he’s trying to get all his thoughts down on paper and it ends up a little messy. But his signature is really nice
Tumblr media
Yamazaki - he’s basically a doctor so you’d think his handwriting is messy but I actually headcanon that it’s the neatest because he always wants to serve and do his job well, so I feel like he puts 110% into everything, and whenever he’s writing notes for medical reasons or for spy reasons, he wants whoever is reading it to be able to read it quickly - thus his handwriting is VERY neat. Sometimes kind of small, though.
Tumblr media
Iba - He grew up pretty fortunate and probably learned to write nicely, so I feel like his writing would be very cursive and you’d be able to read it well and clearly. His signature is also pretty like Sanan’s.
Tumblr media
Souma -  Probably kind of sloppy and has a slant for sure because he rushes through it. When he’s called, he’ll tell you whatever couple of words you can’t read and he probably apologizes.
Tumblr media
Ryouma - This is probably a little neater but he tends to write his capital letters kind of big and the rest of it small. Has a lot to do, so he probably writes in cursive and tends to do the thing where he’ll write the end of a word as a scribble lmao. Somewhat legible.
Tumblr media
Kazama - Really legible, he doesn’t write often because he doesn’t have to and doesn’t want to take the time to, but when he does it’s pretty neat and legible, much to many’s surprise. Has a slight slant to it but you can pretty much always read it.
