rambled this out because I didn't have inflight wifi otw home and the turbulence was too crazy to draw
Buying the ticket
erm so they only dropped the tickets like slightly less than a month before lol kinda insane
The concert tickets were sold on Damai so you need a CN number or know/pay someone with one who'd buy it for you which is what I did by recommendation (A tier 1280 + 400 'service fee' [apparently it would have been cheaper if they only helped you half way or something but i wasnt gonna risk running into a payment hiccup so]) Iirc they sold it in two batches but I don't remember the ratio split between first and second wave…
I got a ticket for 5/5's afternoon show (so the second last performance), I DID meet an oomf who said they managed to snag a ticket for themselves on their own (without a Professional Ticket Snatcher) so its not too impossible to attain on your own I think??? (I didn't get a CN number until like 2 days before I flew back home soo)
Professional Ticket what?? Uhhh apparently there's a whole industry/scene for this you look for listings on xianyu/taobao etc for people to buy on your behalf, you have to give them your real name and identification number (so for foreigners it'd be your passport number) for verification purposes during entry so yknow yea
Tumblr media Tumblr media
getting there
You could cab directly to the venue but my friend signed us up for the free shuttle bus (they had freebies last year but not this time) and before we boarded they gave us like free water and bread (apparently free raincoats too on rainy days) which was nice of them but also insane because. the venue doesn't allow you to bring food/drinks in so a lot of people were leaving A LOT of unopened bottles near the gate and I saw a venue staff just throwing them all into the bin (HOPEFULLY JUST TO CARRY THEM AWAY IN ONE GO AND NOT FOR STRAIGHT DISPOSAL….) They drop you off near the venue but you don't go in directly, there's a 'Doctor break room' where most people are seated waiting to be ushered in batches into the venue, but also a lot of people standing around on one side of the room swapping/offering merch
Tumblr media
merch swap
ive been told this is a very concert culture thing but i feel like its kind of different because a lot of these are so high quality ike…you could sell them at Artist Alleys but here they are just distributing for free if you have a E2 60 blorbo lmao or whatever (there seems to be a tiny…? minority that prints official art but most of them seem to be handdrawn/made)
i was too unprepared for this lol i did exchange some of my old stickers (missed out on a collapsal plastic fan bc my brain lagged when the guy asked me and i went to my auto 'sorry i dont have any merch' response' :( regretted this bc the room got a little hot from the amount of people in there and i was wearing like 3 layers with that fan on my mind)
from people watching a lot of trades are arranged beforehand on weibo/other sites unless you're willing to yell WHO WANTS TO TRADEEE/anyone wants freebies (a lot of people were also wearing 'Feel Free to Swap Merch/Ask for Freebies' tags) which i was definitely not brave enough to do lol… met up with an oomf i got to know from last dec when i attended an arknights only and they gave me some birbs and charms (bottom of post), there was someone who got a free LGD zine and charm from me bc i posted on wb that id give a free copy to anyone with a Mod 3 swire/swummer LMFAO
I had 2 more people to meet but, uhhh so I bought an esim for mobile data and it would intermittently lose signal here and there which was a little annoying when getting coffee but it just died entirely when i reached the venue and it was kind of Dire because i was waiting for one more friend who was coming over from the fes and i couldn't contact them lmao. told the friend i came with to go in first because I thought if my food got confiscated at least my oomf could see it beforehand LOL
waited outside in a light drizzle for an hour trying to trouble shoot my data to no avail and ended up borrowing a staff's wifi hotspot to get my entry qr code (I actually bought a second data roaming plan on my local sim but i quite stupidly did not check the country coverage and only learned later that night that 'Asia' doesn't cover China kuxiao) she was so nice i was (bow emoji) so sorry to trouble you im a stupid gaijin and she was like no its ok enjoy shanghai!! pien
Tumblr media
spent a good 30min next to this board praying for data to no avail
the show
Tumblr media
erm anyway because of that clownery above i more or less missed the first piece (the one w the goated hoho) but at least i wasnt the guy next to me who went for a bathroom break right before starset came up
The live singing this year was definitely an improvement I think… I can't really remember the setlist off the top of my head but I'm sure someone else has already listed it out, there were a couple of new pieces that weren't related to the concert groups like a Babel/Kazdel?? one sung in Latin, a Victoria…? one (in victorian ofc) also an Amiya (? just remembering by the visuals they used lol) one in Japanese
ohh yeah so almost every track would start with like a faction logo transitioning in from 3d to 2d which was cool but also amusing because it was honestly bringing quite the 'I will Make Your Company Logo Into 3D Fiverr' vibes
Since I missed the first piece idk if any of The Dreamer(s) got 3D models but The Pilgrim(s why are they all singular) had Kaltsit playing on that piano (there was also a replica of that piano on stage the white one complete with 'Arknights' text on it lmao) and Siege being cool running around in 3D (and ofc Eureka during her denpa number) it was very cool but man... its a pity the other characters in the group just get their live2d png during the beginning and effectively get sidelined lool compared to say Phenomenal Agents idk if i like this tradeoff but that eureka bit was so good sheesh #NOVAFIVE⭐ULTRALIVESWEEP
The other stuff was really great too looking at you Lone Trail medley…!!!!! I might be wrong but I... assume... you're encouraged to karaoke bc they always show the lyrics on screen… I couldn't even hear myself anyway but it was very fun singing songs you can't get on joysound/etc with a whole crowd going at it too (even if most of them would only sing 1-2 lines of the chorus)
Mary Clare did Radiant (they had the lyrics scrolling on the sides very cool) and iirc the Throne group's song...? Radiant was so fun live
Starset did Monster > Telescope and when the latter ended they were like Bye! and we(?) started yelling ENCORE--awkwardly because idk how they do it here (I was half expecting it to be JP style 'an-call-roo' but a bunch of us just yelled en-core en-core here and there until they returned to perform Infected) speaking of yelling.. between every piece when they had to switch sets people would just yell memes or skill names (like Dage's) to pass the time or sth i barely caught half of whatever they were memeing about
did i forget to mention anything else uhhh originium rock turntable for Guide Ahead's boss theme/Dossoles Lobby and they had IS4 medley live throat singing very cool also the dancers they got for silbenherze's boss theme good stuff...
iirc after starset was like a behind the scenes video of how HG prepared for AS and a recorded lowlight video saying some stuff that i forgot LOL just some thank you message basically. 9.5/10 bc no missy/shu EP live
Tumblr media
i just realised i forgot to display all the merch from the A tier ticket but w/e. light stick photo ft. merch swaps/gifts from friends and strangers 🥹 (the iffy lenticular card was literally dropped into my bag by an iffy coser (wearing the LT outfit..?!) while waiting for the cab LMAO)

"NEXT ON FOUR!" You scream at the queue line while rearranging your hangers behind the register. Your feet ache in the last hour of your shift. All you need is to get through a few more customers and start cleaning before you leave to your empty dorm room.
You bend down to put your last hanger onto the rack, you stand up and start your scripted line to every customer, "Hello, would you like to apply for-" you grab the pack of toothbrushes and look up. "What the hell are you doing here?"
"HI, baby," ex!Beomgyu stands opposite to you. Hands in pocket with his damned smile across his face. You on the other hand, blank.
"Don't call me that, why are you here?" The patience in your body dwindling.
"What? I can't shop now?"
"Really? A single pack of toothbrushes at a discount clothing store?"
"YES, a single pack of toothbrushes at a discount clothing store," oh, if you weren't at work, you would just punch the smirk off his pretty little face. "I'm even surprised they sold toothbrushes here."
You scoff and just stare at him, trying to read his eyes. Out of all the traits he possessed, determination and stubbornness was what you and admired the most (and least) about him. His dumbass smirk made your blood boil.
"Cash or card?" You spoke up.
"C'mon pretty, you know I don't use cash," he digs through his wallet to find his card and you caught a glimpse of a picture of you in his wallet.
It was the most stupid picture of you drooling on his shoulder when you passed out on a date with him at the park. God you hated that picture. When he first showed it to you, he would clown you for it as many times out of the day as possible. You didn't think he'd go as far as to print it out and put it in his wallet.
"Why do you still have that dumb picture of me in there?" He looked up at you, his sparkling eyes as he twirls his card between his fingers. His smirk bleeding into a sad smile.
"Cause I miss you," he scoffs. "The boys tell me not to spend time thinking about you," he inserts his card shaking his head, "I mean, I agree with them. You never told me why you even broke up with me," he looks back up to you, "and that's shit hurts, yknow?" The card reader rings and he pulls his card out, "but here I am, thinking about you. Missing you. Wanting to see you. Making pathetic excuses to see you," he sighs, "I should be the one mad at you for leaving me confused. And yet, my heart is betraying my mind and I'm following you around like a lost puppy," he shrugs and looks you in the eyes.
You're left speechless. Beomgyu grabs the toothbrushes and his receipt.
"I know you get off soon. If you want to talk, tell me now and I'll wait for you. I'll always wait for you," he continues.
"Um," you don't know what to say, you've been avoiding him to think about what to even say to him, let alone approach him to say it. The reasons why you broke up, it was all minor things. But a lot of minor cuts accumulate for a big wound. And you have to let him know that. "Yeah, we can talk, at the Starbucks or something." You look down, you felt embarrassed or shy or something. You felt ashamed, you didn't think your actions affected Beomgyu as much as it did.
"I'll see you in an hour then," and he walks away with one last glance to your eyes. His pretty smile, less bright than when you first saw him at your register.
"Next on four," you wave to the next customer. Now your feet and heart ache.
A/N literally I daydream while I work so this was something I conjured up in my head while ringing people up. I hope yall enjoy

you are (not) becket by @gyzym
Here, it's simple: you and me and your dead brother are all swimming in the sick stillness of the water after the storm.
Titles: Mrs. Eaves Body text: Garamond Case title: OCR A Extended
3,079 words | 108 pages
Binderary book 2 (these are absolutely not in order of when I finished them. This was a frantic ten-minute case-in on the morning of the 27th before being three minutes late to work because I was washing my glue brush.): Pacific Rim is a story that went inside my ribcage and my brainstem and won't ever leave. It was my first exposure to a character who's dead from the beginning and who haunts the story for the rest of it and I think about Yancy Becket every two days and I will for the rest of my life. And thus, from there, I get here, where "my name is Becket and I didn't ask to be your gravestone. Like I wanted this, Becket, I swear to fucking god" is just a line that is tattooed on my brain. I've cried over this fic a bunch of times. It makes me feel ice-cream-scooped out in the middle of my chest. I love it and it needed to be in printed form.
More pictures/design/process under the cut.
Design and Construction Case and covers: Flat-back case binding with bradel board covers and spine. This was my first time experimenting with layered materials for the case, because I wanted to mirror the missing pieces that are such a prominent part of the vibes of the fic to me, and oh boy. Layer 1 was on the front board, Hollander's Mango Leaf tissue in blue. Layer 2 was a full-cloth binding with Hollander's pearl linen cloth in charcoal grey, with the upper left half of the title text cut out using a Cricut. Layer 3 was again on the front board, Hollander's Lokta paper in natural. All of the title text was cut out with a Cricut and then I ripped the paper in half (an ordeal) and glued it down with a glue stick. I chose to tear the front because there's a lot of imagery of being torn free versus letting go in Pacific Rim in general, and this fic specifically, and yknow, it felt right.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Insides: No endbands; the book was too small for the pre-sewn ones to work. Endpapers are black cardstock and torn Lokta paper. The casing in was done with PVA, gluing a small tongue of the black cardstock to the case, and then I glued the torn Lokta paper over the rest of the bare board to create a faux endpaper. The torn papers are the same idea that I mentioned with the cover. The front paper is a torn piece of a whole - Raleigh, after Yancy. Mako, after her parents, after Stacker. Yancy. The back is a set of torn pieces pasted back together - Raleigh-and-Mako, without the people they've lost. Yancy, after. I don't know. I think about this a lot. (Also, I'll come clean. The black ink on the back endpaper is eyeliner. My deepest most sincere apologies to any archivists. I don't own black ink and it was three in the morning.)
Typesetting Typeset was done in InDesign. It's nothing fancy. Grief, in real life, and in the way that it is in Pacific Rim too, is a stark thing, and I wanted to reflect that. So, no headers, no page numbers even, and just plain black page breaks for each of the numbered sections. Garamond, my beloved.
We All Do It, or, the Mistakes Section Honestly, this was one enormous oops after another. Since the book's so small each page had to be cut out individually and I won't even get started on the number of mistakes I made doing that. Then I utility knife trimmed and sanded down the edges maybe six times because I couldn't achieve a straight line (I had to change my knife blade. This did not occur to me). The top margin is like 1.3 times bigger than the bottom margin. The Lokta paper faux endpapers were because I cut the original cardstock papers an inch too short and didn't feel like cutting them again. And then the big one...I measured for the case and then didn't write down which measurement was width and which was height. The case is literally the wrong orientation and I didn't realize until I put the block in and the top/bottom margins were wrong. I'm so fucking lucky that the margins were already so small that the block covered all the exposed board so I just cased in anyway but I did have to sit on my floor in despair for a good ten minutes.
Tumblr media
Here's the French link in progress because I didn't want to end on my series of fuck-ups. This was incredibly fun but I never want to make a book this small again. That's a lie. It's going to happen again but better. <3

i didn't reblog the post but I do agree that the terminology for zines has gotten completely twisted.
ON THE OTHER HAND I don't think that selling them for say 20$ (which is what i sell my sketchbooks for) is unreasonable or unfair to still call a zine. I need to cover my costs of printing and the time I put into putting them together. yeah I can TECHNICALLY get a printer and print them myself but with the cost of printer ink and the lack of space its easier for me to just pay for someone to do it professionally but I'm also NOT making them at like....the HIGHEST QUALITY, LIBRARY BOUND, HARD COVER, IT COMES WITH A THOUSAND DOO DADS AND GIFTS. its just sketchbooks ofpreviously existing doodles and a few new sketches or sketches that I had before and colored in. Its essentially like selling a full print but in carryable size with some notes from me.
Its a zine but I call it a sketchbook because the idea of zines has changed for a lot of consumers. Thats not their fault bc those zines or anthologies DID start out in the "lets make a big ol book together because we are all horny for Reigen" kind of thing. A lot of times they're projects made from passion. I HAVE noticed that there's been a turn in the whole process of making them that both stresses out artists, requires kickstarters, and all sorts of shit that should be considered Artbooks. ARTBOOKS have always been on the higher end of things. There's nothing wrong with considering an anthology thats proper bound, and for a certain amount on a kickstarter you get extra things like stickers, charms, whatever.
But zines SHOULD go back to being simple little things. The cost to buy them shouldn't be lost UNLESS the artist wants it to be. If you print at home or using a schools printer and just print a bunch of cute little zines yourself then that should also exist and you can set your price point for whatever you want.
Its all semantics and personal preference at the end of the day but I do think that...yknow it wouldn't hurt if we could start calling the big project 50$ range books that often get run into the ground from bad leadership (or fun stuff like the organizer of the thing runs off with the money to play genshin) ...something other than zine. Like Artbook or Anthology. Or even Collection lol
Zine should be a small thing that you collect for fun and doesn't require a committee, a new discord channel, and a contract to make sure your organizer doesn't run off to play gacha (I'm sorry it still makes me laugh)
ALSO another thing about zines is that often times they were originally made to be alternatives to really closed minded book sellers. Like...its where a lot of the OG star trek fanfic/porn came from. Its a place to have your ideas put down. To explore narratives. Essentially Doujinshi can also be considered A TYPE of zine in that it literally means self published (not NECCESSARILY that its...yknow...bl or waifu porn lol Sometimes its just manga that artists put out before they can get published)
But lately there are a lot of zine projects (again...more actually like anthologies or art collections) that are REALLY REALLY closed minded even when the subject is SHIPPING.
So even the nature of CREATING the zines has changed a lot.
So yeah I agree with that post that I forgot to reblog. My only REAL gripe is that it doesn't mean that you should undercharge your work because you didn't print your zine at home or hand craft it like a youtube diy video. I did enough of that at art school I am not gonna bind a book or try to cut pages ever again if i don't have to lmao. CSP even has a zine preview so I can see the pages in 3d as if they were bound before printing lol

hey so asau has destroyed my perception of what is and is not a long story. i started reading the jurassic park novel and got curious about how many words it has and i was genuinely a bit disappointed when i saw that, according to google, it has 117,645 words and that the second book has 108,000, because hey just Confidential is longer than those combined. and then i realized that just Confidential is longer than both of the jurassic park books combined.
and i need you to understand that the jp books ain’t small. the lost world width is only a little under the length of my pinky. both are over 400 pages long. confidential and the stolen altars have a little over double the words of the entire jurassic park book series. and then you add on faction and all the other stuff y’all have currently published on ao3 and it ends up being 475,278. that’s longer than IT, which is 445,134 words long (and that book is thick as FUCK it’s such a pain in the ass to carry around. asau would be even more of a pain in the ass to carry around if printed. that’s so fucking cool)
and then for kicks n gigs, i looked up the word count of Les Misérables, the book commonly referred to as The Brick due to it literally being the size of a brick (using the pinky scale again: a little wider than the length of my pinky.) turns out, it’s 545,925 words long. y’all are gaining on les misérables. and, from what i can tell, the story’s still relatively at the beginning. what the fuck. what are you two on. how have you guys done this. this is genuinely one of the most impressive things i have ever seen what the fuck. give yourselves the biggest pats on the back you more than deserve it
i definitely could’ve made this way more concise and coherent but i need y’all to understand that asau has permanently altered the way i see book length. i finished a tale of two cities in a week because i was like “pfft this is nothing compared to asau.” you guys are insane and i am here for it. waiting for the day y’all pass the bible’s word count (783,137)
Okay so anon,,,,, I (Kio) decided to look into my ao3, because your ask put me in hysterics (the "what are you two on" got me in particular, and I couldn't fucking tell u)
The main asau fics that make up "the series" imo are, in order, counterpart, confidential, and the stolen altars. The words counts of those combined are 437,910.
If you add in the main things on our ao3s, which I consider the 3 series asau fics above, faction, and ofc peaches & cream, that's a combined word count of 546,196. That's 5 fics.
But what most people don't know is that asau had a false start. Counterpart was the first one to be published (on July 29, 2021) and it's the only one that remains after the initial run, which we started redoing with Con (published March 9, 2022). That's a pretty significant gap! In that space, we published 4 fics with a combined word count of 71,239. That's not anything to sneeze at, but nowhere near what we operate at now. They didn't perform super well and we wanted to rework the story to be better paced, more fleshed out, to have some actual meat on there, yknow?? So we made those works private and just considered confidential as the start of an entire overhaul of the plot.
But that brings us to a combined word count of 628,101 just with the most important and active things included. And, buddy, we're not even a quarter into altars yet. Altars won't even be the end of the series.
We will top the bible's word count. Easy.

hi! so i have a standard pdf on my hands right now (yknow one thats one page per "paper" and you scroll through) but i want to print it out and bind it. i was wondering how i would format it or what options i should press on the printer for it to be like a standard a4 print and able to be signatured. or if theyre not options i can simply press: how would i change the layout and format? thank you in advance!!
Hi! I love me some asks. So, just to make sure I understood the situation, you have a page-per-page PDF (single page per single page) you want to print and bind in signatures. And it is not a double spread PDF. (and, because I wondered at first, it is also not a PDF from this here collection (I got scared at first thinking I gave page per page pdfs somewhere lol).) Let's see if I can help you with that.
So as it turns out I don't actually know much about this because I've always worked with my own InDesign files, meaning when I printed signatures I'd just export a double spread PDF, and so I've never had to make signatures from a page per page. But after some research I can give you 3 options:
The booklet function and how to make it your bff
Cannibalize your PDF to make a double spread PDF
Give up (on the signatures, and bind it another way)
1. The booklet function
Most PDF viewer have one. For example I opened one of my PDFs in Adobe Acrobat Reader: the function is there, and it looks like it should work with a page per page PDF to make proper signatures out of it, but since I've never had to use it, I can't tell you precisely what to do with it. I can advise this much: TEST PRINTS!!! Make that thing your best friend by test printing with it a thousand times over until you're sure. You can use a PDF splitter to get just the first 4 pages of your PDF and make those go through the booklet function until you've figured out all the right parameters, etc. There are probably online tutorials, too. Accessorily, you can also split your PDF into the different signatures, it might make it easier as a whole when you make the final print.
2. Cannibalism
Honestly, this solution is for barbarians, but I'm including it because it sure would work and, well, if I was in your position, it's what I would have done (if the PDF was under 100 pages). The big idea here is to turn the page per page PDF into a double spread PDF by opening it in any software that lets you move it around like a jpeg, manually sticking each page next to the right one, and exporting it into a new PDF. And you can even make the signatures manually while you're at it (but you should also probably do that in InDesign, and it has an inbuilt booklet function, so no need for the recipe for disaster that is making the signatures manually). Not recommended unless you're a purist, a maniac, or a masochist. Do not do that. Go back to #1. Help yourself.
3. Give up
...on the signatures. I don't think the booklet function is that hard to master, but just to give you more options, there absolutely are ways to print and bind a page per page PDF without signatures. Here are a few:
Japanese binding: with thread, beautiful, will work no matter how many pages you have, however it does not open flat (at ALL) and if you have text/images close to the inside margin the binding will eat it all up.
Perfect binding: with glue, very common binding. You'll see it on most paperbacks, everywhere. When it's clean, it's really nice, however, while it's easy to make a perfect binding, it's hard to make a clean one yourself. Also can't be done if you have less than? 20? pages, doesn't open flat, eats the inside margin (but way less than a japanese binding).
Whatever this is called: with thread, can be nice… on very specific occasions. Opens flat and looks cool, NOT recommended if you have thin paper and/or a lot of pages.
So many things. Thread. Tape. Side staples. Spirals. Screws and bolts, if you're going for in industrial look. Don't let any loser tell you that staples or spirals or any of those can't be sexy in the right conditions.

I really do enjoy your costume metas, they are so fascinating truly. But sometimes I read them and things sound like SUCH a stretch and over-analysis- like how people joke about English teachers will ask ‘but WHY was the scarf red?’ and the author would just shrug and say ‘because I wanted it to be red, there’s no hidden meaning’ yknow? Like i don’t think THAT much thought goes into it. Yes definitely a lot does, a lot of thought goes into costuming, I just don’t think like, the direction of stripes on Christopher’s shirt in one 30 second scene indicates anything.
Backhanded compliment/insult much Nonnie!!!
I hate to tell you this but they really do put that much thought into things in the world of film and television. I've worked in the industry - I worked in costume departments on many different films and shows and I can assure you nothing makes it on to screen without purpose.
The use of colour to convey meaning is very very deliberate and has a lot of history - both from a clothing perspective, but also from a lighting, set a prop perspective. The whole point is to convey additional information visually. Its very different from writing a book - where yes, its very likely an author will just pick a colour for a colours sake - but that is why very often you see different colours used from the text in film adaptations - because the film needs to convey emotions etc visually because it cannot use words to do the same thing in the way a book does.
And if you don't want to believe me then look at Aisha's lives, or the q&a sessions various wardrobe people from the show have done - they have all said that everything is intentional and that colour choices are deliberate. In the past I've commissioned specific logos, prints or patterns for clothing - just to get important information across - I've had clothes dyed so that I have the right shade of a colour so that it gets the right information across - literally nothing appears on screen that isn't adding to the narrative.
Of course there is room for interpretation - colours have more than one meaning attached to them, and I have never ever implied or said outright that my interpretation is the only one or the correct one. its entirely probable that I've placed incorrect interpretations onto costumes -I'm not in that specific wardrobe department so I can never be sure. thats the nature of the beast.
By all means keep on insulting me and the hard work I put in to sharing my knowledge with you, I can take it - I don't do it for you I do it for me because I get enjoyment out of it, but please don't diminish the incredibly hard and detailed work that departments such as wardrobe, set and props do to tell the story visually and support the text and subtext of a piece of media - its frankly insulting to them - they're among the hardest working departments and often some of the worst paid - they do this for love so you can bet they put everything into it.

what are some oc projects you've been working on, if any? do you have a favorite oc or one that you've had since you were little?
I do actually have a Big Project that I want to get a bit more done on before I start actively posting about it, but I will say that the plan is for it to be a candygore webcomic. It's gonna be based on some OC designs I originally made to be cute charms/shirt prints but then I named them and next thing I knew I had a story that'll take a few years to tell. I'm very excited for it though, as I really wanna bring something new to the table for candygore, even if it is a very niche aesthetic!! I wouldn't say I've had OCs since I was "little" as as a kid I had my dolls and figurines so they weren't fully original, yknow? Plus I liked drawing little characters a lot and always gave em names and themes, I've always liked character design, but they rarely got development. However at around 14-15 I started making OCs which were. Varying Degrees Of Original (a fair few were Creepypastas lmao plus a ROTG OC. Willow I miss u bbygirl <3) But my TRUE favourites started to get created when I was around 18 and they've been able to be developed since then since I got access to digital art programs and therefore could make silly little doodles.
My NEWEST favourite is my self-indulgent Yakuza OC but I mostly ramble about him in Discord, but we got some older favourites:
The Three Amigos, aka Hettie Fontaine (a magic user who somehow ended up getting mixed up with demons), Demonette (her self-assigned best friend and demon who loves girls as much as she loves fire) and Mono Monreau (Demonette's goth half brother who has suddenly been dragged into the demonic half of his heritage). I love these three, they're so silly
Agatha Alletage, the Time Demon. She's mental and fucked up and beautiful and I love her so much. She fully owns the fact that she belongs in Hell and yet she's very polite and courteous and surprisingly kind, but unfortunately she also highly enjoys her work, which involves studying and experimenting with time....but her methods are involve more bloodshed than you'd like.
Florence Farina, the Cupcake Demon. A newer one who's almost a foil to Agatha, in that she's also a serial killer but doesn't even seem to ACKNOWLEDGE she's in Hell. She's a sopping wet cat of a woman who always looks like she's on the verge of snapping or bursting into tears, who knows. There's Many Things Wrong With Her and I love her. Would love to work on her more
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hope you enjoyed the long-as-hell response that I am known and presumably loved for here at Tumblr dot com <3 Genuinely thank you for asking about my blorbos, I need to chat about them more and actual develop these ^u^ This don't even cover my fandom OCs lmao

playtested my hearthstone-like last night. i haven't actually played the real thing in years, but started researching it again recently. testing didn't really tell me anything i didn't already know. gotta have a test where i actually have everything "printed out" (virtually) first. i can't believe randomized decks that only have minions up to 4 cost and spells up to 3 cost because i didn't finish making them yet had obvious balance problems
the player who went first + got the first hit (well, both players were me, but yknow) never ended up taking any net damage again until they won due to lack of board clears (mostly due to the above)
both players were running out of cards a lot without much draw or anything big to spend mana on (also due to the above lol)
i didn't get to test any other kinds of cards, especially ones that would differentiate it from the game i'm basing it on, either
it was good to double check in action just how many different kinds of counters i need to use to mark different things and not forget about them, though. damage, buffs, debuffs, added keywords, etc. i was kind of amazed how many things it seems like you need to just remember in your head to play MTG, and i'm trying to avoid that or any mechanics that wouldn't be feasible on a tabletop (sorry Discover and creating copies, i will do my best to simulate you somehow)
i don't know yet if this game is going to be faster or slower than HS, but i know it had some issues i want to avoid. biggest one, imo, is having so few options at any given moment, due to the tiny opening hands that may contain cards you can't even afford to play yet, that it's basically playing itself half the time. if i let that happen here i've lost sight of the point
i'm gonna give you more options and more hero powers/cantrips, and let more of the game happen out on the table where you can see it and less secretly in your hands. that's what i REALLY want to test out and see the effects of, and take on fixing the problems it introduces (if it's anything like HS, i expect aggro with a tempo advantage to completely take over and am trying to keep this in mind with as much of the card design as possible because i want to maintain its combat system anyway)
i also decided early on that i want to avoid the usual generic medieval fantasy setting, or even my own fantasy setting that i was going to use at first. inspired by yugioh and just, idk, toy stores in general, i decided i wanted something cartoonish that spends as little time as possible explaining its lore or having consistent tone and theming. luchador plant girls will hold off robot dinosaurs while your wizard birds research how to build a summoning circle for a monster truck
this was meant to be a quick and simple project and there's no classes or class restrictions because of that, but then it ballooned out of control in scope a bit. i hope i can stay motivated to the finish line on this thing because the point was basically just to finish something

i don't get it.. if bts were to release previews before selling and you didn't like it, would you not buy it then?? is that what you're saying?? like is bts' discography and being able to support them not enough?? they don't have to show previews or anything, it's a matter of whether you'd like to find out, buy it, and support their cb, rather than not bother bc you're clueless as to whether you'd like the photobook or not
oh boy 🙄 this is about the principle and i guess i’ll try to explain it so you can “get it” :) what you should realize is, that my relationship with bangtan is that of a fan, that means yes i will do my best to support them no matter what because i love them as people and artists, but my relationship with bighit is that of a customer, so what i want from them is some respect and quality when i buy a product, it’s simple as that. them just expecting people to buy it blindly is saying “you’re just atms and we don’t care whether you like our product or not, we know you will buy it anyways because of your blind support” and i don’t like being treated like that????
i bought all their albums and all the versions since i joined the fandom because i want to support bts, and every time bighit shows what we’re buying way late (so out of principle i only pre-order after they show more info, though i couldn’t even do that for ynwa because they included a limited preorder standee time limit so if you wanted everything you had to order blind, but ofc then those standees were everywhere anyway and it was just another way of trying to get people to order blindly lol) for me every time with an album, there is some quality issue,
like, you go and buy two expensive compilation albums only for them to be factory damaged and dirty on the inside from glue, you go buy 4 versions of the same album only for it to be scratched up below the packaging and the cheapest looking thing ever, you go and buy another 2 versions of a compilation album only for bighit not to bother checking samples and leave print errors in there (members being cut off out of pictures etc), the last time i was happy with the quality of the product i received was hyyh pt2 lol… i’m glad and feel accomplished when i see their wins and success and am happy i helped, but you go and have those experiences and then tell me how happy you are about “being able to support them” lol… there are other ways to support them if you don’t like the album yknow, if i knew for example the wings albums would end up so cheap looking and shity, i would just buy one physical copy and saved up on shipping, and then i’d donate way more to bulk buyers and streaming projects than i have (cause through that i only bought the equivalent of two more copies, so yeah i bought wings 6 times lol.. no wait 8 times cause the fansite never sent them so i had to buy again)
how can you talk like supporting them is a privilege for the fan and not a privilege the group receives from us? like you’re really gonna do me like this… i give so much money to bighit and do all i can to support, not only do i buy physicals i also donate and stream all night after stuff gets released and promote them left and right… like this sort of thing really makes me mad sorry… you need to stop equating bangtan with the company because it’s not the same thing, and fine you don’t mind being treated like a brainwashed atm by bighit, good for you, but i don’t like it, i want to get some respect from the company for all that i do. do you get it now?
