#i gave zuko much longer hair than in canon because there's no way he was able to pull hair that short into a respectable topknot

-you waved awkwardly at him, and the only thing that confused him was that such a tall person has such a feminine figure
-he didn't see your face under the helmet, so that added to the non recognition
-'y/n?'
-he hugged you the moment you took off your helmet, waving back
-you were maybe 2 or 3 inches taller than him
-though it had been 3 years, it was like you were back at iroh's house, learning how to play pai sho
-'you're a soldier now? sick'
-he was already happy that he had his honor back, but seeing you made him ecstatic
-every say you two would take walks around the palace

-you were happy that he met his other half, someone so indifferent to him
-that's what made you jealous
-you two stopped hanging out like regular
-'wanna get lunch?' 'I'm going on a picnic with mai'
-the title friend slowly faded into just being his bodyguard
-🔞it was always so awkward hearing him and mai get up to things in his room as you stood guard outside
-🔞you always wished it was you
-the possibility of you being too tall ran through your mind, how being a soldier cracked your femininity
-on the day of black sun, you caught him writing a letter and setting it on his desk
-'what are you doing zuko?' 'theres no time to explain'
-you insisted that you come with him, that you could help him
-it was both because you wanted to protect him and stay with him
-he told you that he was abandoning his role as the crowned prince of the fire nation, and that if you wanted to come with, you'd no longer be a loyal soldier
-when he said yes, you were both ecstatic and worried
-you would be leaving your whole life behind - you'd be commiting treason
redemption 𓂃 ࣪˖ ִֶָ𐀔
-none of the members of the Gaang trusted you and Zuko
-they thought you were one of the soldiers that were on the ship with zuko
-you tried explaining to them you had to be 16 to graduate the training academy, and zuko left when they were both 13
-when sparky sparky boom man attacked, you and zuko helped fight him
-they trusted you a bit more, but still held a grudge against zuko
-they forced you two to sleep in a secluded tent together
-the first night you two stayed, there was an awkward silence
-you two were still distant
-'what was in that letter?'
-zuko explained to you that in that message, he told mai that he was leaving her
-he thought it was for the best
-you felt bad for him, not aware that he was going through a break up without telling anyone
-but at the same time, you were happy
-you had a chance
-'im sorry man'
-you tried to hug him, but he looked away.
-something was off about him
-'what wrong zuko?' 'i need to tell you something'
-he not only broke up with mai because he was leaving, but because he liked you
-he looked up at you as you two sat in the tent. the lantern light flickered as you moved closer
-the kiss was soft and first, tender, and practically just a peck on the lips
-when you pulled apart, he was extremely red
-🔞kissing wasn't all you did that night
freaky deaky 🔞 𓂃 ࣪˖ ִֶָ𐀔
-zuko loved putting his face in your chest when you hug
-he likes kissing every part of your body, especially since there's so much of it
-he likes it A LOT, especially when he can make you buckle beneath his words
-you're such a strong girl that it makes him powerful when he's dominating you
-likes the arch of your back when he's hitting it from behind 🫣
-loves watching your long fingers prepare yourself for him

If Zutara were to canon, who will be their children?
I love thinking about Zuko and Katara’s family. I’m sure every shipper’s list of zutara kids differs somewhat, but I actually have a family tree drawn out so I could figure out who the Gaang kids and grandkids are and what their relationships are for my (eventual) LoK rewrite.
(This got… longer than I was expecting. I have a lot of thoughts ok ;~;)
Izumi is their oldest. She takes most after her father, with black hair, golden eyes and his sharp features (as well as being a firebender), though her skin is several shades darker (I never liked how, in canon, literally anyone else on the planet could’ve been Tenzin’s mom, partly because he was just as pale as Aang), and she grew up preferring to wear her hair in Water Tribe styles, which continued even after she was crowned Fire Lord. (Speaking of which, Izumi ascended the throne around the age of forty-nine,  several years after Aang died–Katara was devoting her time and resources, as well as her physical presence, to leading the White Lotus and training Korra, the next Avatar, and Zuko wanted to join her, so he made sure his daughter was ready to rule and stepped down.)
Three years after Izumi, the Legacy Twins were born–Kya and Lu Ten. They both took more after Katara, including her blue eyes, despite Lu Ten being a firebender (though Kya is a waterbender), and the night before they both were born, Zuko and Katara had the same dream–a pair of spirits blessing the birth. It differed in that in Katara’s dream, she thought one of the spirits was her mother, and in Zuko’s, he was sure he recognized one as his cousin. When they realized they had a boy and a girl, the names came to them almost simultaneously.
Kya and Lu Ten were unholy terrors growing up–that one comic by biorn21 where Katara is like “Zuko, where are the twins?” “They were just-” -BOOM- “…here….”?? That’s them. Like her mother, Kya turned out to be a powerhouse of a bender, as well as an excellent healer–Lu Ten, on the other hand, wasn’t particularly talented, and he spent a long time struggling with feelings of inferiority and uselessness, especially compared to his older sister and his twin, both of whom were exceptionally skilled and had a lot of raw power to boot. That was where a lot of Lu Ten’s disastrous antics came from (and Kya was always up for mischief, so she usually sided with him), though he eventually learned to appreciate the talents and skills he did have. It helped that Zuko would regale him with stories of his own sub-par bending, and how even after he learned from the dragons he wasn’t nearly as skilled as his own younger sister.
(By this point in their lives, Azula had undergone her own redemption, and had an odd sort of friendship with Katara no one really expected. She ended up spending a lot of time with Lu Ten in particular, teaching him how he could be viciously lethal without any bending at all. She told him (and Kya, who was never far behind–the two were pretty much attached at the hip until well into their teens) stories about how she and her two nonbender allies had managed to take over Ba Sing Se in a single day, just by infiltrating the walls in disguise and getting to the King himself. Her visits were always the twins’ favorite.)
(And, just as a note, Kya and Lin dated quite a bit through their late teens and early twenties. At some point they broke up, for reasons I haven’t quite ironed out, but during Korra’s time in Republic City they reconnect and eventually get married. Lu Ten dated Suyin for a few years but that eventually fell apart when he realized he was mostly dating her because he was jealous that his twin sister was head over heels for Lin and he wanted to feel something like that, to make up for the sudden absence of his twin in his life. Turns out he’s aroace and perfectly happy to stay single.)
About ten years after the twins were born, Katara and Zuko had a surprise in the form of Iara, their fourth and final child. She was unexpected, and the birth was difficult, but she was well worth it. She is heterochromic–one blue eye, one gold–with features like her mother and a build like her father. She is a nonbender (“Finally, someone normal,” Sokka joked when it was determined she was unlikely to exhibit any bending ability. He gave her a boomerang of her own for her twelfth birthday, taught her to use it, and it became one of her most prized possessions) though, unlike her brother, she didn’t have any real complex about it growing up, despite all her siblings and her parents being benders. (Perhaps in part because her siblings and parents all absolutely doted on her, she was definitely the baby of the family and it showed, and anyone who made her cry in school would get very unpleasant visits from the twins.)
Iara had an independent spirit and, as she grew up, an air of confidence in herself that no one could really seem to breach no matter what they said about her (though one of the ways to trigger her temper was to insult her family). She spent a great deal of time with her Aunt Suki and the Kyoshi Warriors, even joining them for a time while she traveled the world in search of a purpose in life. Eventually, though, she left their ranks, and when she finally settled down it was in the nearly-complete Republic City. She opened up a non-bending martial arts academy–students who could bend were accepted, but only if they agreed to not use their bending within the school’s walls, placing them on equal footing with the nonbenders–where anyone who wished could learn how to fight and defend themselves.
(Many years later, it would come out that Amon, leader of the Equalists, had gone through Iara’s Academy, and, in fact, had been one of the best students she’d ever trained. If I ever get around to writing this damn thing, their fight will be one of the best scenes in it. In my head at least.)
If you’re curious, Tenzin and Bumi still exist, but they’re Aang’s kids with someone else. (I couldn’t justify Katara naming one of her kids Bumi, but in this verse Aang doesn’t ignore his nonbending kid and Bumi doesn’t grow up with a complex regarding his lack of bending. Nor does he gain airbending randomly later in life [there is no harmonic convergence, the airbenders began to return during Book 4 of atla], and he never had any reason to doubt his father loved him.)

Could you write a merman! Zuko (Avatar the Last Airbender) and short Reader head-canon, with Zuko teaching his girlfriend (Reader) how to swim?
Headcanons form. Though I (Vis) decided to do a mix since I felt like it was better this way. This turned out way longer than normal but I really liked this prompt.
~
| Prince Zuko
Mermaids were nothing, but a fairytale that kept you visiting the ocean even if you were unable to swim. A childish wish but the waters captivated you. They were shimmering blue sapphires and topaz in liquid form that always caught your eye whenever you passed by it. Though what caught your attention most was seeing the red in the middle of the blue as it swam in mesmerizing swirls before disappearing. It was the only reason why you came back time and time again, despite being unable to swim.
For years you came back to the waters and wadded in the shallow end to till the water tickled your ankles before you sat on the rock edge of a natural made pier that went farther than the human made one. You would sit there, enjoy the heat or cold that the rock gave you as you kept watch of the red swirl.
Perhaps it was a mermaid that swam in these waters?
The small laugh escaped your lips before you realized how slick the water had made the rock that you rest upon. The sudden slickness as you fumbled for a rough surface to grab upon and stop your fall into the chilling water below.
Water filled your ears in a muteness unlike a shower. It burned your eyes and your nose as you flailed about in the waters that only slowed you down. Everything was a blur and you couldn’t scream unless you wanted to be weighed down as your lungs filled with water. If only your tears could float an send a message of what was happening to you, you wouldn’t have minded doing so, but that was a anime thing and it wouldn’t help you now. Maybe this what the lack of oxygen did to your brain?
Too busy with your panic you didn’t notice cold hands like the ocean you tried fighting wrap around you and pull you up back to the air. You kept flailing and smacked slimy skin, but what stopped you was the fact that you heard a tell as you did so. “What do you think you’re doing?! I’m trying to help you idiot.” A male voice yelled as you tried to wipe the water from your face and out of your ears.
What the hell? Your eyes took on the ink like black hair and how his ears had re webbing that blended into the peach of his skin as a few scales colored the edges of his jawline to his neck into the water that hid the rest from view. He was beautiful, more beautiful than the women who were models and ended up on magazines. He was ethereal.
“Are you a siren?” You couldn’t have stopped yourself from asking the question but the lack of air could’ve made all of this a dream.
“What? I save you and the first thing you asked me is if I’m a siren?” His glare seems to be getting unfriendlier by the second as you can practically feel the water steam away from his skin, “I should just drop you back into the water for asking something so stupid and offensive.” He threatened and you felt his arms loosen, and you quickly wrapped them back around his neck.
“I’m sorry please don’t drop me, I can’t…I can’t swim.” You pleaded as your eyes watered from the horrible feeling of water assaulting your senses again. You didn’t want to fall into the darkness without being able to scream. Hell, you didn’t know that would be that rude to ask such a simple question.
His eyes soften as he mental reprimanded himself for allowing his temper to get the better of him again. As well as breaking a law and saving a human, but he couldn’t let you die. He couldn’t allow another life to be taken if he could prevent it. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that. Let’s get you back land human.” He sounded genuine as he looked around to make sure there was no one around before he swam with you back to another are hidden from sight but low enough for you to get back onto land.
Climbing up the small rock platform, you looked back over your shoulder to see the guy who saved you submerged in the water up to his eyes. A beautiful pale gold that glowed from the water reflecting on the water. You couldn’t just pretend none of this happened, but you just needed to know the truth. “Are you the red swirl I’ve been seeing in the water for years? Are you a…. mermaid?”
He blinked slowly at you before going back into the water. It was hauntingly beautiful the way he didn’t make a sound and how you didn’t see him swim towards you under the beautiful blue waters. His hand motioned for you to move over and he lifted himself out of the water to sit next to as you scrambled to move out the way, but not fall back into the water.
His tail was such a fiery crimson red that the traditional red Christmas ribbons could compete with it’s color. It was is if fire’s very essence was captured. You didn’t dare imagine touching the scales lest you wished to be burned. The ridges and spikes also kept you from doing so.
“Are you done looking?” He asked in a grumpy tone that almost made you jump back into the water. His eye twitched at seeing your flinch back, “I’m sorry.” He looked away, “I don’t get to meet many humans, let alone save any of them. What are you doing near the ocean if you can’t swim.” It was phrased as a sentence but the tone was that of a curiosity that questioned your sanity.
“I’m sorry for staring so long, that was rude of me, but I didn’t think mermaids existed.” You explained as you heard him snort at your words, “It’s not like I get to find out that mermaids exist on a daily basis ok.” You rolled your eyes at his childishness, “But thank you for saving me.”
His shoulders relaxed before he turned back to you with his arms out stretched to you in a gesture of a handshake, a formality that didn’t seem necessary since he had wrapped his arms around your entire body earlier. Though it would seem rude not to do return his mannerism. His hands were wet and slimy in comparison to what a regular human hand felt like. They also had scales and his nails were longer and decorated with gold ornaments. Looking back you could see small gold necklace and earrings adorning his body with small amber and ruby jewels.
“I’m Prince Zuko, a merman, and it’s a pleasure to meet you.” He introduced himself with as he tried not to squeeze you smaller hands with his own. He more than likely thought humans were fragile.
“I’m ____, a human, and it’s a pleasure to you as well.” You smiled at him and he seemed to be caught off guard as he quickly slunk back into the water and disappear back into the waters without giving you much warning.
Everyday after that day you kept visiting the ocean and waited for him to swirl about in the waters or atleast talk to you. Your patience paid off as you saw familiar gold eyes rise up from the water and glare at you in annoyance at you coming back, especially after almost drowning.
“Hey Zuko.”
• Ever since you started to date you always sat by the waters and signaled to Zuko with the shell he gave you, so you two could start your daily ritual of speaking with one another for hours until the sun would set. Zuko proposed that you start learning to swim when the water and the tides started to recede from the shoreline like they usually did at that time of year. You agreed since Zuko would be there to protect you from drowning like before.
• Zuko had you start out at small safe areas of secluded water craters near the beach that only went up to your waist when you sat in them. He wanted you to get comfortable with the feel of water wrapping around you first. After you felt that you could move onto bigger things he had you walk into the ocean to him, until it reached your chest. He didn’t want you to suddenly be coughing on ocean water if a small wave came on and hit you in the face.
• After awhile of your getting use to the water being so high on you and the coolness of the water not bothering you he would suggest teaching you how to float before you could swim. You didn’t know how to float and he explained it to you in a some way of forming a giant T with your body but you’d have to lean back into him and his arms, “Trust me, I won’t let you go unless you want me to.” You did so and failed a few times but he waited patiently for you until you got it right. It wasn’t the same for humans as it was for his kind - his uncle’s voice reminded him as Zuko almost let his temper get the best of him a few times but he never showed you.
• “Now do you want to try until the water reaches your neck?”“You do remember how short I am compared to the normal human right?”“There are different heights for humans?”“You didn’t know? I’m short as hell Zuko, why do you think I’ve been a bit cautious about walking up into the water to my neck.”“You’re the only human I know, I don’t have much experience with your kind remember. I thought that you didn’t want to get into the water because of your fear or something else.”“Close, but no cigar.”“What?” He looked completely lost.“A human saying. It means, close but not exactly right or hitting the mark.”
• Zuko is willing to wait for you to make the decision to finally step in deeper into the water and before you agree to do so, he makes sure you remember every lesson he’s taught you in case you panic and almost drown. He stays within distance, holding onto your waist and even carrying you into the water himself so you don’t panic too much. He keeps a keen eye on you as you start to paddle through the water with the grace of a tiny puppy, though clumsy like a human. Zuko even tells you himself. “Not bad for a human, ___.” "I had a good teacher.”
• Even though it’s been a month since you’ve been able to swim in the waters he keeps an eye on you like a mother hawk and doesn’t take any chances with you. You think it’s sweet and endearing given how you first met but now he needed to let you swim in the felt end waters. He refused but you could understand why. He’s afraid for your tiny self swept up in the water and not coming back up. Though after talking to him he explains that he’s worried for your safety and you thank him for that. From time to time you allow him to carry you through the water and let you swim with him.
• “We don’t eat humans, that’s what Sirens do. Plus, humans wouldn’t taste as good as what my people eat.” He commented with a small smile. “If we did, then we’d go for someone with more meat and not some small fry.”“If I want some fried fish, I’ll know where to go if I ever get hungry now.” You counter with a grin.“You wouldn’t dare.” His eyes narrowed.“Do you want to try me.” You mimicked his threatening body language.“Is that a threat or a suggestion.” A smile began to curl around the edge of his shark like teeth.“Find out fish boy.” You challenged before running off.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Review
Having now seen Star Wars: The Last Jedi a second time and ridden Star Tours with the new scene, I now feel like I have a better handle on the movie to talk about it. SPOILERS AHEAD, you've been warned.
I personally did not grow up on Star Wars. Honestly, looking at my upbringing, I'm not sure how my parents turned out such a nerd. I didn't see the movies at all until I was twelve or thirteen, and they never really resonated with me. I feel terrible saying this now, but I never cared for Leia. Or for Padme for that matter. I didn't relate to them in the slightest.
Then I moved to Orlando, and found myself at Star Wars Weekends. While I didn't get a lot of the references, and didn't have a great understanding of the canon, I love fandoms. I love people who are passionate about what they love. I love cosplay! The last year of Star Wars Weekends I went as Jedi Korra, because apparently I don't know how to cosplay anyone but Korra. (Changing that this year, come MegaCon!)
Then in 2015 I found myself at the opening night release of The Force Awakens, and suddenly I found myself in love with Star Wars. Because of Rey. Finally I had a character I cared about! Finn and Poe and BB-8 were all great too, but I had a badass female character to root for at last.
I was out of town when The Last Jedi released, and found myself staying off the internet for days trying to avoid spoilers. Somehow I managed it, and saw the movie only knowing there were mixed reviews and that a lot of the complaints were dumb.
Seeing the movie the first time was incredibly stressful. My heart was in my throat as the Resistance lost all their bombers, and all I could think as Finn headed for that battering ram canon was, "I swear to God, if Finn dies without seeing Rey, I'm not going to be able to handle it, oh my god, do not pull a CW on me right now." (I have a lot of feelings about the whole Supergirl/Mon-El thing that's happening right now.)
The second go around was much more enjoyable because I already knew what was going to happen. I could sit and enjoy the story. Some of the things I hadn't like the first time seemed not to matter anymore, and I found the positive side of things. The first time, the entire Rose and Finn adventure seemed pointless since it didn't pay off and I was super annoyed by the whole thing. The second time I realized how accurate it was. Sometimes you try your hardest and fail anyway, and find out you trusted the wrong person. I still think Benicio del Toro's character DJ felt a little out of place, and I didn't care for him, but he makes some very good points about the larger scheme of things, and has one of the best lines in the film. "Eh, they blow you up today, you blow them up tomorrow."
Luke says the war is just beginning, but hasn't the war been going since Anakin fell to the Dark Side? DJ kinda has a point. I really hope he shows up again, because that will make him his presence in this movie mesh better.
Poe Dameron has quickly become my second favorite character behind Rey. His trolling of Hux at the start of the movie made me so happy, and everything he did over the course of the film made me love him even more. Even his introduction with Rey, which was well over due. I love that he treats BB-8 like a dog.
I love that we got to see Finn grow. He grew in the first movie, but watching him go from running away to getting ready to sacrifice himself was wonderful. I also love that his literal first thought upon waking up was Rey. Not about himself. For someone so self-centered from the start, he has a habit of putting her first. "Rebel scum." Indeed.
Most of all, I loved Rey's story line. I love that she kept up with Luke, that she didn't give up. I love that we got to see her training with both her staff and the saber, and I desperately hope we get to see her with a lightsaber staff in Episode XI. I loved her interactions with Kylo Ren, I love that we got to see her soften for him, BUT NOT HAVE FEELINGS FOR HIM. I want my girl to be happy and single and a powerful and SHE DOES NOT NEED A LOVE INTEREST! That throne room fight scene was one of the best I've ever seen, and I loved every second of it. It's going right behind the No Man's Land scene in Wonder Woman in my list of best moments in film in 2017. The way Kylo Ren brings her the saber and they immediately go back to back to fight the guards is beautiful. That second when she figures out to drop her saber and catch it in her other hand to kill the guard is just brilliant. I even love Kylo Ren fighting with the saber in one hand and one of the guard's weapons in the other.
I've already gotten into several arguments on Facebook because I like the Porgs. They were actually created to help disguise the fact that the island they were filming on was covered in puffins and I think it's brilliant. I'm really proud of myself I haven't bought one. Yet. I did buy a silly Lightsaber refillable cup though...
Since the Force Awakens I have been mildly convinced that the writers of the new Star Wars are Avatar: the Last Airbender fans. Case in point, Dave Filoni, who is behind the Clone Wars and Rebels television shows, left the first season of Avatar to go make Clone Wars. Disney fought the rights to Star Wars in 2012, just after the first season of Legend of Korra. I can't be the only person who seems some similarities between Korra and Rey. When Force Awakens came out, my friends and I kicked around the theory of Kylo Ren pulling a "Zuko", meaning he'd follow a similar pattern as Prince Zuko and we would eventually get "Hi, Kylo Ren here." The Last Jedi stayed pretty true to this theory, Zuko did betray Katara in the season two finale, "The Crossroads of Destiny", and Kylo turned on Rey when she refused to stand with him. So in theory, Kylo could still come join the band of heroes in the final chapter, but I don't know who he would be standing with them against. Snoke is dead! I mean, he's dead dead. So maybe we actually get a true raged out Sith Lord as our bad guy? Honestly, I'd be okay with that.
Not everyone can be redeemed.
This already went on longer than I planned so just a few final notes.
I don't think Phasma is dead. At least I hope not.
I don't think Rey's parents are nobodies. I don't want her to be a Skywalker, because we're embracing the idea that anyone can be Force sensitive, but I don't think they're "nobodies". I think Kylo Ren was trying to manipulate her. I'm still partial to her being related to Obi Wan, but I'm open to other ideas.
I love how Kylo Ren fights but that stupid sideways stance of his needs to go away.
I think we're going to see Han haunting Kylo Ren.
I figured out Luke was a Force projection, but not for the same reasons as everyone else apparently. I didn't realize he was younger, I thought he just cut his hair to be more presentable. The footprints gave it away pretty quickly, but I just had a gut feeling. I love when I'm right!
All the people saying this "ruined" Star Wars are welcome to their opinion, but I happily disagree with them. We're going in a new direction that was badly needed.
I LOVED the new scene on Star Tours. Poe now gives you the message about the rebel spy, and I was the Rebel Spy! I’m totally down with Poe needing my help. What I didn’t like was that in showing up on Crait, the Star Tours speeder should have been visible in the movie and it’s impossible for C3-P0 and R2-D2 to be in two places at once. But I can’t get over that. Doesn’t make me twitch nearly as much as Gringotts at Universal’s storyline does.
