While this blog has always been about documenting my days and years, when something big happens in the world I have always tried to at least make a note about it. And today is one of those days.

At 130 last night a container ship lost power and struck the Francis Scott Keys bridge. Which caused it to collapse like it was made of tooth picks. At first they were saying 20 people could be dead. But right now 6 are missing. And putting that to the side for a moment, this bridge handles 25% of harbor traffic. And the boats in the harbor are trapped. No one in and no one out. The economic toll on the city is going to be outrageous.

So this was on my mind a lot today obviously. Jess would give me updates, since she was at her desk. But today was not all about the tragedy. It was honestly a pretty good day. I was able to be removed enough from what was happening.

I very very much did not sleep well. I struggled hardcore because my hands and arms hurt so much. I don't know if it's arthritis or carpal tunnel. But it was radiating pain from my shoulders down. And it was horrible. I was able to get some sleep but I woke up a lot. So when my alarm went off I wanted to cry. I was struggling. I would give myself an extra half hour and James wasn't pushing me on that. They were tired too.

When I finally got up I went to get washed and dressed. I started feeling a lot better. I went to my desk to do my makeup and that's when I picked up my phone and saw my Aunt Renee texted me to ask if I was okay. And I was like yeah?? And she was the one to tell me what 20 minutes from my house, that a bridge has collapsed. That people were dead. I was horrified.

James would drive me to work so they could have the car. I tried to not spend the entire drive looking at tiktoks about what was happening. But it was hard. And poor James was so tired. We got me to camp safe and James headed to go do laundry. They would come back for me later.

The morning would be spent at my desk. Just working through my lesson plans for the summer. I have the basic frameworks already from the fall, but now I'm filling out the forms they want me to use. And now that all the original info is in there I can start filling them in with more detailed instructions. Which will take a while but that's okay. I'm excited to have solid plans.

We had a lot happening at camp today. Groups that were renting spaces throughout camp. But we would only have programming with one of them. And not until the afternoon. But that didn't stop me from having interactions with them.

I was the only one in the office for a bit so I was fielding people coming to ask for directions. And later someone came to ask where the dumpsters were and they were already struggling to carry the very full trash bag. So I offered to get the gator and drive it over for them. And they were like. Oh my God you're so nice. I offered to get it in the morning too so they didn't need to worry. And plus I like driving the gator to fast.

I would go and take the trash and drive to fast and had music going and it was really nice. Like I just felt like things were good. My body still hurts but I was happy.

I would hang at my desk and eat lunch. And slowly people started coming for the field trip. Nick and Rachel. I took the gator to go set up slow ropes. And eventually everyone else went to set up their own areas.

Around 115 I went up to the hacienda to meet the group. I chatted with some of the adults. They said sleeping was really tough. Fair. The beds kind of suck. But I think they were still having fun, even if they were sore and sleepy.

And the kids were so nice. Sometimes with teenagers I am nervous but this group was so lovely. Like this could be have been really tough but they were great.

I walked them up to ground elements. My first group was small, 5 teens and 2 adults. And we started with whale watcher and they were pretty good at it. They made it for a minute and a half. Next we did the team walk and they did really good on that too. And finally we did low ropes itself and because they were such a small group we just did everything together and they did great. The werde silly and spoke in slang but a lot of fun.

With all the groups today I took them over to the horses for the last ten minutes. And they were so excited. Most of them had never seen a horse before and it was so cute. Every time I brought them over we had 3 or 4 different horses to pet and talk to and I got bumped in the head by some big horse snoots but it was more funny than anything.

I chatted with the adults and a few of them had ridden horses before! And wanted to know about trail rides and I gave them the info I knew. But I hope they come back. The one guy said he wants to take his friend for his birthday. That's so sweet.

The second group was much bigger. Ten kids and two adults. But we did the program the same way. They struggled more with the whale watcher because there were two boys who kept yelling at everyone. But it was fine. They got 25 seconds.

Team wall went good. My cheeks were hurting from laughing so hard. And when we got to low ropes I let them self direct and mostly supervised and that was good. Even if a few times the spotters let their people fall on the ground. Thankfully no one was seriously hurt.

The last group was the rowdiest but was really fun. And their adult was great. They did amazing on whale watcher and they got 3 minutes.

Team wall went okay. Except two of the boys were just very big. And the one did try but was not comfortable getting pulled up and I didn't want him to get hurt so I said he could step away. Even though their adult wanted him to push through, we agreed in the end that he didn't have to.

Ropes went fine. And the boys were having fun. When we were walking to the horse field they discovered I graduated in 2009 and they gasped and went "that's auntie age." Very forlornly. It was hilarious to me. They also did not understand what was "under the horse" and I was like. What? And they point again and I'm like. His bits?? And they were like you cut it off???? And I'm like what no! Horses bits are inside until needed, very discreet. And the boy goes. "He's just like me for real." Teenagers are hilarious.

As we were finishing names had texted me that they were at the office. I let them know where I was but they got a little confused and went to the Glen because apparently that is where low ropes used to be! I didn't know! Elizabeth called me on the walkie to let me know and we had silly banter about how James couldn't pass up the opportunity to see her and how she's a ray of sunshine. Silly.

I was really happy to see James. I was up on the ladder taking the ropes down. James would help me wrap them up and move the ladder. Which is my least favorite part so I appreciated that. And they filled me in on more updates about the boat. It is really hard to wrap your head around.

We walked back to the office, hand in hand. I felt tired, but really happy. James had gotten me a donut for the drive home. And I could see how tired they were and I insisted on me driving home.

And that was fun. After we got back to the office and I collected my stuff and James chatted with Heather and Nick and I told them about how good the groups were, me and James went home.

And it was a fun drive. James yelled at me for going to fast around trucks. I had music going very loud. And I was just happy being with my husband.

We got home and we were both tired. I would get changed and went to lay down. And James went to do their podcast.

At 7 I got up and started working on dying the dress I want to wear for Paul and Sam's wedding. I would also do some cleaning of snail eggs in the frog tank. I found this one piece of plastic in there that was coated in eggs??? Disgusting. I cleaned that thoroughly.

I got a little frustrated when James was still recording at 8. But I tried not to be mad even if I was a little. We were texting about it because it was mainly the other guys just talking about their guys for to long. Like I get it but I cannot imagine their partners are happy about how long they spend on these things. James is going to try and push for the. To have a shorter recording.

James would come down at 830 and made me a salad. They changed the kitty litter. And we talked and hung out at the island. And now we are in the couch. And I think soon it will be shower time and then sleep.

Tomorrow I hope to continue to work on lessons. And in the evening we are going the Fulwilers to see a classic film. Which I think will be fun. I hope me and James can be more rested.

I hope the families of the people who were lost in the bridge disaster are finding support in those around them. The road crew and their co workers. I really hope that we can have more clarity and the state can rally around the city and not treat Baltimore like a punchline.

1 week down update

hey guys, so yesterday morning on about day 6 I woke up to be 50.5kg, so it worked and along the week I had no slip ups did my exercise and counted calories. However. Last night I had a binge. AND HAD VODKA. so all that fast food and fat will definitely be stored as fat from the alcohol. I woke up to be 51.5 :( I ate a total of 2500 calories, but since my deficit is 500cal a day to get to my goal weight for the 6th. before I binged I was -350cal for that day so I took 850 cal off the 2500 which still put me into a deficit of 500. now I just have 1650 to make up for which is roughly 3 days worth of food, so I'm gonna starve for 3days and burn the remainder 150cal off with exercise. I'll exercise more anyway if I have the energy to try get rid of the fat I ate last night but that depends on how tired I am. with this plan my week 2 progress will still reach a deficit of -7000 per week and we'll be back on track for 48.5 :). let us just pray to the gods together that fast food didn't go straight to my thighs and my metabolism will burn it off fast and do me a favour. I would've just purged it up but I have long sharp acrylics on and every time I try to stick my fingers down it cuts my throat and bleeds, plus I was in public so I didnt have an object to use. alsooo I would've just taken the laxatives when I got home but it was like 2am and I was very drunk so I fell straight asleep. I have a driving lesson on day 3 of the fast so I've already picked out a low calorie drink of monster white to keep me focused so I dont crash the car lol. 11cal for the driving should be fine. please does anybody have any tips on excuses for not eating I could use.

praying this doesn't affect me too much and by the end of week 2 I'll be 49.5 I'll let you all know in a week!

I just need to vent a bit

Tw: car accident mention.

So here's a series of events.

At 16, my mom tells me I should get a driver's license and that my step-dad will teach me over the summer break. Okay, cool.

No one explains to me how that works until the summer is over and no driving lessons happen. When I ask why, I'm told 'well, you never read the driver manual'.

I thought it was going to work like a textbook in class, where we read a bit, practice a thing in the manual, read some more, and so on. Again, up until this point, all I knew about getting my license was that I was legally able to start practicing driving, and at a certain point, there would be a test that I have to pass to get my license.

Throughout the rest of my high school career, it becomes obvious that even if I DID have a license, it wouldn't be possible for me to actually USE it. At any given moment, neither of the household vehicles would be accessible to me. Plus, my city allows students to use public transport for free, so I just didn't see the point.

Anyway, after graduation, I move in with my bio-dad and continue using public transport to get to and from work. His car breaks down, so he goes to buy a new one, bringing me along to 'make sure we pick a car that the whole family likes' (looking back, I think he really only brought me along to use me).

He finds a car for $3500 and decides to buy in cash. Using my money.

He promises to pay me back, and that the car will be mine one day, once he gets a vehicle of his own. Good deal, I think.

We move cities, and the car breaks down after 5 months.

A family friend gifts us an old car, which breaks down within 3 months.

Same family friend gifts us a SECOND car, which is an absolute trooper, tbh. This is a Buick Sedan.

My Uncle offers to pay for driving lessons, so I head off to drive school, which is mostly online, due to Covid. I get 6 hours drive time with the school, everything else must be done at home. All the people I can drive with are either

A) Too busy

B) Extremely anxious/extremely road-ragey

I do not obtain my license at this point.

My father's behavior declines from neglectful to outright abusive, and I move in with my Uncle, who gives me one year to move out.

I find a full-time job and work my butt off, saving every penny I can. In the meantime, he practices driving with me. He tells me I need to be more confident, but I am doing so SO well, and I'm a great driver!

Hooray!

Except, then I make a mistake. I turn right on a red light (which is legal, and actually very common where I live). Nothing happens, no one is hurt, no vehicles are damaged, and we proceed with the drive like normal.

Once we get back to the house, all previous praise immediately dissolves, and Uncle tells me I am simply 'not ready' to get my license. He refuses to drive with me anymore because I 'ran a red light', which 'absolutely mortified' him.

I spend the rest of the year riding my black bicycle to work in the dark in an area with no sidewalk, bike lane, or street lights.

I get my own apartment and move out, continuing to bike to work. When I need groceries, I ask a friend to take me to the store. It's not great. It's not ideal, but it works.

I do keep moving forward with my license, first practicing with my mom, and then my step-dad.

I get a better job offer in another city. One that's too far to bike to, so I use this as motivation to finally get my license.

I got my license about 2 weeks ago. I bought a beautiful little Prius using my savings, and brought her home the day before Halloween.

Everything is going great!

I drive to a friend's house a week later, and we talk about how great things are going! I've elevated my adult freedoms. I'm starting a new job with fantastic career opportunities. I have a car that I absolutely love.

We talk about how I've worked so. Hard. To get here, and how it was all worth it.

And then.

And then, on my way home, I get T-boned. No one is hurt, but my car...

My lovely Domino's passenger side airbags all go off. Her back passenger door is crumpled in on itself, and idk if they're going to be able to save her.

My insurance company hasn't finished the evaluation, or determined fault yet. They also don't cover rental vehicles.

I start my new job tomorrow morning, and I have no vehicle, and no money to buy a new vehicle. I bought the Prius with the intention of keeping her for the long-haul. I planned to baby her, keep her for 10 years or more.

I had her for one. Week. Exactly.

I am just. So tired. I feel like giving up.

I worked so freaking hard for YEARS to do this, and it's all gone in an instant. In the months leading up to this, I was dreaming about the adventures I'd have in my car. We were going to go to the beach, travel the US and see all the National Parks, collecting a pin/sticker from each one, maybe drive up to Canada, or down to Mexico! Finally make use of that Passport I've had for 5 years! I put together a watercolor palette and bought a sketchbook SPECIFICALLY to use on our travels!

Domino and I were going to do SO MUCH together.

And now she might be gone before we even got the chance.

None of this even feels real. It's almost like I just DREAMED I had a car. But I know I didn't make it up, because I have pictures, and I have her paperwork, and my actual card license came in the mail last night.

Honestly, I'm heartbroken. I'm not sure how to move forward now. Obviously, keep working with the insurance company and stuff, but like.

I keep giving my all, and my all keeps not being good enough.

I'm so glad I invested in tints. Carefully I watched as a big breasted woman and three small children in unforms exited the home numbered 41 pine st. Is that you Tashawna? I continued to watch as she ushered the children into the same black BMW that was parked outside of Y/n's home. She looks a little older, maybe she's his mother. I tried to be rational. There was no way my sweet y/n would go for a married man.

Just then , Devante comes running out behind them grabbing the woman by the wrist and pulling her in for a hug. From her body language, she didn't seem to fond of him. He whispered something in here ear, tilted her chin up and kissed her. What a dog. I frown and snap a picture of the kiss they shared. Once they split he smacked her on the ass and the both got into the car driving off.

Reaching into my pocket I pulled out the small envelope and double checked to make sure the pictures of Devante and my sweet girl were in it. Of course not showing her face. I could never get her involved. Once confirmed, I waited another 20 minutes just to make sure they were gone and not coming back.

Slowly I got out of the car and crossed the street to their home. I walked up the few steps and peaked through a window incase they had a dog. I didn't see anything. Going to the door I reach my hand out to grab the door knob to turn it but it wouldn't budge.

"Who are you?" I turned around to see an elderly woman standing in the yard next door. Must be the neighbor.

Putting on my best smile I turned to her "Good morning ma'am I'm Matthew. Do you know if this family is home?"

"Why should I tell you?" She said in a sassy tone.

Annoyed, I decided it would be best to keep my composure so I continued to smile "Well I am from Child protective services, just to ask some questions"

"Oh great!" The elder woman spoke "Those children are angels. It's the couple that bothers me. I hear them yelling and screaming at each other all times of the night. They have no respect." She sighed taking a seat on her steps. "But no they aren't home. They drop their kids to school and then go to work. Sometimes I bring them back if they're late to get them when I pick up my granddaughter"

"I see. " pulling out my phone to check the time. Fuck. I have a class to teach at 10. Im loosing too much time talking to this hag. "Thank you so much. I hope you have a great day ..."

"Mary.. my name is Mary" she smiled.

"Well then. Have a great day Mary" I turned to leave. As soon as I exited the yard the smile on my face fell. I got into my car and resting my head on the wheel. SHIT. SHIT. SHIT! I couldn't deliver the envelop with that hag watching. Mission 1 failed. I sigh as I pull out of the space and drive to my next location. — (Y/n POV)

8:00am

Fuck!" you yelled, tumbling out of bed  while accidentally dragging the covers with you. You quickly turned around to throw it back onto the bed, and you realized Devante was nowhere to be seen, "Big dick bastard."  You mutter to your self in the mirror. Shrugging it off you look at the time picking up your phone you play music on your speaker taking your time.

"And I feel like sometimes I cry 'Cause I feel so good to be alive And there's not a doubt inside my mind That you're still here, right here by my side," You sing along with the music. You were going to Atleast be 30 minutes late but you didn't care yojr apartment was only 10 minutes from the campus. Besides, You only had one 3 hour class on Tuesday and Thursday. Once it was over you could do whatever the hell you wanted.

— Finally making it only 20 minutes late, You took a deep breath before pushing the door open, and sure enough, the first thing you saw were your classmates. The lecture hall was filled, surprisingly not a head was missing.

"Take a seat, I'll deal with you after class."

For the last two and a half hours of class you didn't process shit your professor said. senior seminar had to be your most boring class. You spent the class time texting your friend group chat with plans after class was over. As soon as it ended you slipped out with a group of students before he can see you and penalize you for being late. —

Finally done with this lecture I hear a ping from my phone. Glancing at it, it's a Instagram notification about Y/n. She just posted a picture at the green lady. She was five familiar faces, two guys and three girls. She looks amazing. The six of them having brunch together.

She won't be home for a while and I'm done with classes for the day. I have some time before office hours start... maybe even enough time enjoy some coffee from the Green Lady. I smirk packing my things up and heading out.

Casually walking in from the corner of my eye I spot her. She was talking and laughing with her friends. Her smile is so beautiful. I picked a booth not to close but not far enough to not hear their conversation. I close my eyes until the waiter comes. Just listening to her speak is breath taking.

"Oh hello professor Aldridge!" Said a squeaky voice blocking out my sweet y/n. Ready to snap I open my eyes and internally groan.

"Hello Kelsey.. you work here I see" I say eyeing her revealing uniform

"Yup, what would you like?" She asked leaning a bit too close.

Clearly my throat I give her my order and she smiles brightly skipping to the back of the restaurant. I look in the direction y/n's table was. She's not there. Where did she go?! I internally panic a bit. When did she leave?

Annoyed I rest my head back and run my fingers through my hair. From my peripherals vision I see a group walking past out the window. It's her.  There she was, looking so ethereal and angelic, an effect furthered by the sunlight radiating upon her. I wish I could take a picture. Staring out the window I notice there was a slight problem. I grit my teeth . It's getting annoying seeing other men touch what's mine. One of the fuckers she was here with grabbed her and put an arm around her waist.

I need to know where she's going...

I stand up to leave.  I don't have time to waste. Unfortunately Kelsey comes back with my coffee. "Oh did you not want this any more Professor?" She ask in a baby voice. I want to slap this chick. Defeated I sit back down and take the coffee.

"I'll be right back with your food" she winks and skips away again. I feel sick. This fool is flirting with me. Some god must be punishing me. Putting my face in my hands all I can do is think about Her.

Don't worry...  I reassure myself taking a sip of the coffee. you'll see her later.

"This shit is disgusting" I say putting the cup down.

“I can’t do this anymore, Donghun.”

“What do you mean? I’m trying!”

“You’re trying? You’re never home! I get working, but the extra hours are too much! I need you!” I scream, tears streaming down my face.

“I- please. Please, don’t do this.” He says, defeated. The tears running down his face hurt beyond anything describable.

“I don’t want to! Don’t you see that? It’s not how I wanted this.” I turn and walk away from the man I thought I would love for the rest of my life. I probably will, but I can’t be with him until he’s ready… if that will ever happen.

Getting back to my place, I see the photographs plastered on my wall of him and I. I pull them off one by one and put them in my keepsake trunk. I wish it was me that made him happy.

2 years later

“Hey! Long time no see!” I hear. Looking around I see a woman, around my age with light brown hair and blue eyes, had said.

“Liliana?” I gasp.

“Hello, love. How are you? I’ve missed you!” She exclaims, giving me a hug in which I return happily.

“I’m alright. How are you? How’s everything going?” I ask, smiling.

“It’s been pretty good. These past few years have been a lot better than it has been in a while.” She smiles, seeming genuinely happy.

“That’s great! I’m really happy for you.”

“So, what have you been up to since you left?” She asks, kind of nervously playing with her hair-tie to see if it was still a sore subject.

“Once I moved to NYC, it was rough starting off. After everything, I was a disaster. But, eventually I opened up my gallery with a friend and we’ve done pretty well so far. I think anyway.” I smile.

“What? That’s amazing! You’ll have to show me some of your work! Maybe I can get one to ha-”

“Sorry to cut in, but I need my girlfriend for a second.” A familiar face cuts in and smiles at me.

“No way.” I smile, wider than I thought possible, “Chan?”

“Hey, it’s been a long time.” He says, smiling but it didn’t quite reach his eyes.

“How long have you 2 been together?” I ask, astonished.

“Um… About a year and a half.” He says, smiling and wrapping his arms around her.

“That’s awesome. I’m really happy for you guys.”

“Thanks.” Liliana says, smiling widely, “Well, I guess I’ll be back in just a few. We can finish catching up then?”

“Definitely.”

They take off to wherever Chan needed her and I look around at the room full of people. A high school reunion shouldn’t make you this nervous. I guess that’s what you get when you only had a handful of friends in a sea of people back in high school.

I spot the drink bar and walk towards it, maybe something over there will save me from being lonely.

“What can I get you?” The bartender asks. I look at everything and decide against it, I have to drive back to my parent’s house later.

“Just a sprite, thanks.” I smile. He nods, leaving for a split second to retrieve it.

“I’d never thought I’d see you back here again.” I hear in my ear and freeze.Why….

Turning around, I see Donghun… The same gorgeous man he was 2 years ago, except he had medium platinum hair and wore a suit.

“Hello, Donghun.” I smile slightly, trying to hide the pain I feel looking at his big brown eyes.

“It’s nice to see you again, Anya.” He smiles and looks down anxiously.

“You too. How have you been?” I ask, realizing I might get a hateful response.

“I’ve actually been okay. Better than I was. How about you?”

“I’m alright. It’s been a rough couple of years, but they’re finally getting better.” I say, truthfully.

“Yeah. I get that. What are you doing in NYC?” He asks.

“I have an art gallery up there with a friend.” I smile.

“That’s really great. I’m glad you found something that makes you happy.” He says looking down at the ground again. I feel the stab in my heart and my breath hitches. I regain composure before he looks back up, but the tears are wanting to form.

“Yeah, it’s helped.” I say, “What about you?”

“I mean, we just got back from tour last week, so it’s been rough trying to fix my jet lag… but I’ve been steadily busy.”

“Tour? Are you serious? That’s so awesome!” I smile, really happy for him.

“Yeah. We got signed about 6 months after everything happened.” He smiles but sadly.

“That’s so awesome though. I’m really happy for you. Truly, I am.” I smile at him.

“Anya! There you are.” Liliana smiles, dragging Chan behind her.

“I didn’t leave yet, don’t worry. Plus, you know there’s only one hotel in town.” I chuckle at her.

“That’s true.” she laughs.

“I’ll leave you two to talk, is that okay with you Lil?” Chan asks.

“Yeah, you know where I’ll be.” She smiles, looking up at him and kissing his cheek.

“That’s fine. Donghun, you want to join me with the other guys?” He smiles at his friend.

“Yeah, sure.” He replies then turns to me, “Catch up with you later?”

“Sure.” I smile and they head to find their friends.

I sit and catch up with Liliana for a while, talking about life in a bigger city and what has changed since I’d moved. We talk about good and bad, things in between, and make plans to hang out outside of here tomorrow afternoon. By that time, Chan came to find her and take her home since she had to work in the morning.

Saying their goodbyes, I grab my purse and jacket so I can head out as well.

“Goodnight, Anya.” Donghun says as I pass him walking out to my car.

“Goodnight Donghun.” I smile at him.

Arriving at the small hotel, I open the door and collapse on the bed and pass out from exhaustion. When I wake up the next morning, I notice I never took my makeup off…

“Geez. I need a shower. I look awful.”

Looking at the clock, I notice it’s almost one. I check my phone and Liliana messaged, asking if around 3 this afternoon was a good time to meet up. I text out the short reply and get up to take a shower.

Lil and I met up right at 3, at the cafe beside the hotel.

“Hey! Over here.” I say, waving at her to get her attention.

“Oh! Hey! There you are.” She smiles.

“Yeah, sorry. It was the only table open when I got here.”

“No that’s fine. I don’t mind.”

“How was work?” I ask.

"You better save me one." He says, glaring at Jun. Sehyoon takes a cookie out and sits it on a napkin for this friend.

"Hey, I'll be right back," I smile, looking outside. Liliana nods and I step outside to get some fresh air. Sitting down and leaning up against the building, I rest my head back and close my eyes to think. You shouldn’t be here. It still hurts just as much. He doesn’t want you here either. “Are you okay?” I hear beside me. Opening my eyes, I see Donghun eyeing me.

“Yeah, I’m fine.” I say, hoping he walks back inside. Instead, he sits beside me against the wall, turning his head to look at me.

“What is it?” He asks.

“It’s nothing.” I say, my cheeks going red.

“Anya, you are such a horrible liar.” He states, “Why’d you come back?”

I look up at him, shock written on my face and not sure how to answer, “What do you mean? I came back for the reunion.” I say, confused.

“Okay.” He says.

“I did, Donghun. I missed my dad as well.”

“Are you seeing anyone there? I know you said you had a friend who owns the gallery with you.”

“No, I’m not. That’s all he is. Just a friend and quite frankly, he’s not my type. What about you?” I smile, nudging his shoulder.

“Nah, I tried a few more times after you.” He sighs, continuing, “Nothing short of complete failures within a week.. I decided to just give up and work on my career.”

“I’m sorry.” I say, feeling the pain of that day weigh on me again.

“Don’t be. I needed a kick to get my life on track. I was so absorbed in working that I neglected the one thing that was perfect.” He says, getting quieter as he speaks.

“Your dreams came true though.” I try to smile, but it just didn’t feel right.

“One of them did, not the biggest one.” He says, looking at me with a tear sliding down his cheek.

“Donghun, I-” I had no words.

“Don’t worry about it. You did what you had to. I get that. I’m really sorry that I was that way. Nothing’s been the same without you.” Wiping his eyes with his shirt, he tries to stand up.

I place my hand on his arm, “Wait. Please?”

“What is it?” He asks, leaning back.

“You know that’s never how I wanted our lives to be.” I choked out.

“I know. It wasn’t your fault.. I just didn’t realize what I had, until it was gone… Did your dad tell you I tried to come by the house two days after that? I was going to quit. I’d have given it all up for you, but you’d already left.” He says, looking into my eyes, “You are my happiness. It’s not the same without you, I’m not the same.”

I feel tears running down my face now, “Really? You-” I couldn’t finish the sentence.

“Yes.”

“I’ve never moved on. Not since you.. I haven’t even tried.” I say, quietly. His eyes grow wide and I hide my face in my hands, embarrassed to admit it outside of my head.

“Anya? Why?”

“You were my entire world, Donghun. It hurt so bad that day that I couldn’t deal without your love. I closed up. I’ll never let anyone in like that again.”

“Give me another shot.”

“What?” I ask, thinking I misheard him. He leans closer to me, tears still falling from both of our eyes.

"Everything has to be perfect, Roddy," I say. "I can't mess this up. Tell me what the plan is again."

Roderick looks at me and says, "Kyle and I will bring Y/N to the ice skating rink, tell her you're meeting us there after you're done training. You and Bobby will decorate the rink with candles and rose petals."

I nod and say, "You take Bobby and Kyle back to Y/N's parents house and wait for us to get back."

Roddy nods and says, "Yep."

"Okay, everything sounds good," I say. "Hopefully I can pull this off." I play with the black velvet box as I wait anxiously to leave.

I rented out the outside skating rink in Philadelphia for an hour tonight. Just for me and Y/N. It cost a decent amount of money just to propose to her, so hopefully she does say yes and I wouldn't have wasted a couple thousand on a ring, renting out the rink, buying the candles and petals. I really hope that she says yes to my proposal.

Y/N and I are spending Christmas with her parents. My parents and brother are driving over from Lancaster tomorrow morning to open presents with us. Roddy, Bobby, and Kyle fly home to Orlando tonight after we hopefully celebrate mine and Y/N's emgagement.

The boys and Y/N's parents have been working with me for weeks planning for this. The day is finally here and my nerves are settling in. Will she like it? Did I go too overboard? Will she actually say yes? So many questions run through my head.

Kyle interrupts my thoughts as he says, "Okay. We're gonna go get Y/N and meet you at the rink."

I nod and Kyle leaves with Roddy. Bobby makes sure the decorations are in the car before we leave, driving the few minutes to the rink.

Hopefully Y/N doesn't catch on to what I'm doing. I told her to wear something comfortable but something she'd usually wear to date night. I don't know.

My phone dings with a text. It's just Roderick telling me that they have picked up Y/N.

The rink is located in Center City. It's a popular outdoor skating rink. It's about ten at night, and that's when my rental time starts. The rink itself is only open to me and whoever I want to bring with me but I know people will probably be milling around and doing some last minute shopping.

Bobby and I pull up to the rink. I check in, with identification proof, then buy a pair of skates for me and Bobby so we can get the rink decorated.

Yes, I snuck skating lessons in within the past few weeks so I wouldn't fall on my face. Also yes, I practiced getting down on one knee on ice in skates.

After about fifteen minutes, the rink is decorated. Several dozen candles light the ice along the boards, and red rose petals lead the way from the entrance to the ice.

"Roddy!" you giggle as he puts a blindfold over your eyes in the car from behind you. It's been two minutes since you left your parents' house and you have no idea what's going on.

Kyle is driving, you sit in the passenger's seat beside him, and Roddy is in the back. "You better not be kidnapping me. I don't think Adam would like that."

Roderick laughs. Relax, Y/N," he says. "There is nothing to worry about. And trust us, Adam wouldn't let us kidnap you."

You feel the car park a little bit later. Roddy and Kyle get out before Roddy helps you out of the car.

Adam told you to wear something comfortable but something you'd wear to date night. So, you put on a long sleeve white turtle neck sweater tucked into a pair of black jeans. You wear an off white puffer jacket and black heeled ankle boots with a white beanie that has a little fuzzy ball on top of it. It's comfortable and something you'd wear to date night.

It has begun flurrying since you got in the car. You can feel an occasional snowflake on your face as Kyle and Roddy help you inside somewhere.

"Follow the path," Roddy says after he walks off somewhere. You were too busy trying to figure out where you were that you had no idea he walked off.

The blindfold comes off and you look around. You're at the ice rink in Philadelphia.

Roddy is holding out a pair of skates. You smile and take them.

Something you've always told Adam was how much you miss outdoor ice skating. It gets cold enough in the winters in Philadelphia for that to happen but in Florida? It's extremely rare.

You change into the ice skates and follow the path of rose petals. You smile when you make it to the rink, where you see none other than Adam Cole standing in the middle of the ice. His face lights up when he sees you.

He's wearing something comfortable but something he'd wear on a date. He's wearing a black button up with dark blue jeans under a black coat. His hair is up in a bun on the back of his head.

Candles line the ice along the boards. You step onto the ice, skating over to Adam.

"You did all this?" you ask, beaming.

Adam looks down at you and asks, "Do you like it? I didn't go too overboard did I?"

You smile and say, "The blindfold wasn't needed but I love it."

He laughs and holds out his hand. "Skate with me," Adam says.

Nodding, you take his hand and the two of you are off skating.

Adam's gotten better at skating. Usually when you go on dates at an ice rink, he's falling down or stumbling over his own feet. He hasn't faltered or fallen once. You're kind of proud.

The snow has gotten a little heavier and it's been close to twenty minutes since you arrived. It's been full over skating, laughing, and Adam smiling as you tell him how much you've missed skating outdoors.

"I thought that I'd surprise you before we left to go back home in a few days," Adam says, skating with you. The two of you stop a few seconds later. You look around at the people rushing around to get home after doing last minute shopping.

Adam looks down at you and says, "I, um, got you a little something and I was hoping that you would open it now."

Your attention is brought back to him as he pulls a little black box out of his coat pocket.

"Adam," you say, smiling. "You didn't have to get me anything at all." You think it might be a necklace in the box.

He smiles and says, "I wanted to get you something. This gift I'm giving you means so much to me and I hope it means that much to you too."

You watch as he opens the box, not revealing a necklace but a silver diamond engagement ring. The diamond is shaped like a raindrop and lined with little diamonds on a silver band. You cover you mouth, holding back tears.

"We've been together for almost four years," Adam says. "We met five years ago today. Christmas Eve 2015. You wore that beautiful red dress and your hair was curled. I wore that terrible green suit." You laugh and look at Adam. "But these past four years have been the best of my life. You were by my side when I won every championship, and when I lost said championship. You were by my side and calmed me down when I talked about quitting wrestling."

You listen to every word of Adam's speech and you don't dare speak a word.

Adam continues with, "Nothing else matters except for you, Y/N. If given the choice between you and my career, it would be you. I want you by my side when I retire. I want our family front row when they induct me into the WWE Hall of Fane one day. I don't want to go another day without you by my side."

Slowly and carefully, Adam gets down on one knee. He takes your left hand in his right as he presents you with the ring.

The tears you've been trying to hold back spill over your eyelids as Adam says, "Y/N L/N, my love. Will you marry me?"

Nerves are showing on Adam's face, it's obvious.

You don't hesitate to say, "Yes, Adam. I'll marry you."

The small crowd that has gather around the outside of the rink cheers and applauds. Adam stands up and takes the ring out of the box and sliding it on your left ring finger.

He leans down and kisses you. You kiss him back for a second before he pulls back and hugs you. You bury your face in his chest and say, "I am so in love with you, Adam Cole."

Adam kisses the top of your head and you say, "I am so in love with you, Y/N L/N. Or should I say Y/N Cole?"

You laugh and say, "I like the sound of that."

Dishonourable mention to Beneath Your Beautiful, which I don't think is overrated but the grammar of the title is like ants under my skin, and one of my university roommates used to play this on a loop, and sing to it, AND try to learn it on my keyboard, and I think it might have genuinely been the thing to tip me over the edge during third year. Cruising to the end!

This cruise was a last last minute decision, encouraged by my friend Jas in Trini (and some of my friends back home). I'd cruised before, but never solo. Let alone solo in a foreign country! The over night ferry cruises to get to Germany last month don't count..

Any way turns out cruising Americans love that Aussie accent to.. somehow I met this amazing couple from Maryland on the first night. We clicked and ended up spending at least part of each evening together. Great minds think alike (and have the same drink/bar tastes)...

This cruise was a 7 night Eastern Carribean adventure taking in 3 ports out of Fort Lauderdale.

Sint Maartens / St Martins island was amazing. It blows my mind that such a tiny place is literally split in two. France owns the 53km sq northern side of the island where it's known Saint Martin with its capital Marigot. This area is wholly part of France, and as such they are part of the European Union. The currency is euro (although mist places will also accepr US dollars) and the people speak French as well as English.

St Maartens, on the Southern Dutch side with its capital of Phillipsburg is the smaller portion of the island at 34km sq. Where it's small in stature is made up by controlling the largest port and being able to accommodate the large cruise ships. This section is technically one of four constituemt countries that form part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Here they currently accept the Netherlands Antillean guilder (this is changing soon!) as well as US dollars.

The island itself was discovered in 1493 by Christopher Colombus, and at one stage was major producer of salt via a multitude of salt ponds some of which are still visible (but no longer used) today. The division between the 2 countries dates back to 1648, where the Dutch and the French finally agreed to split the territory via signing the treaty of Concordia. As you go from one side to the other it's clear how much emphasis on looking after the country has been placed by their respective governing bodies. Fun fact - as small as it is, it is still an international call to call from one side to the other! Oh, and the main airport on the French side is the one where they fly over you on the beach and you have to hang on to the fence to stop blowing away...

I did a bus tour to both sides of the island taking in the crazy iguanas in trees... seriously those things were huge and everywhere! I then spent the remainder of my day in Phillipsburg exploring it's gorgeous little streets and architecture, hanging on the fabulous beach, drinking beer and eating jerk chicken...I like to call that 'full immersion '😁

Then we were off to overnight to our next stop. San Juan, Puerto Rico. This one was an oddly short stop, which I found out later may have been due to some very high port costs (apparently US port areas charge steep fees based on time in port making it less cost effective to stay longer). Anyway we technically had about 6 hrs in port. After a leisurely start that saw me trying to convince myself to get off the boat, I wandered ashore with half a plan and ended up walking around the old town and city area for a good 2.5 hrs. Puerto Rico is classed as a US territory, so rather than being governed wholly by the US and it's constitution, it's kind of like the US over sees what goes on but the country govern themselves and follow parts of the US constitution. It's really complicated to explain fully, so go look it up and it'll make more sense! Anyway the city of San Juan was founded by Spanish colonists in 1521. The city lays claim to some of the most extensive preserved examples of Spanish coastal fortifications, as well as some amazing historical buildings. You all know how much I love a good fort, and here they were dotted along the cliffs of the city. Fort San Felipe Del Moro, Fort San Cristobal and La Fortaleza. No, I did not climb all over them... I wandered to each of them and marvelled at he ingenuity, but refrained from needing to climb to the top (I'm blaming time constraints ...🤣) anyway the gorgeous Santa María Magdalena de Pazzis Cemetery, a colonial era cemetery dating from 1863 is located just outside the walls of Fort San Felipe Del Moro and together the two form a breathtaking break in the skyline to the shore. Luckily for me a tourist from one if the tours warned me to get off the wall overlooking the ceremony as apparently you get a 500 USD fine for standing on it! No signs telling you that, so hey, dodged a bullet there! Later back on the ship, I overheard some fellow passengers stating they thought San Juan was a poor and dirty city. I guess all this travel has allowed me to see past that without realising. I thought it had a charm about it, (some of its residents thought they had charm too - queue guy trying to chat me up as he drove next to me in his car...🤣). It wasn't any dirtier than any other city I've visited (in fact there have been a hack of alot of places that were way worse, as were parts of LA - which I was yet to see) It's well known the country is struggling immensely with corruption and the vast divide in income for its citizens. The people I encountered were well versed in Touristing (again, like every where!) I really liked my time here, and would have liked longer in order to have been able to venture out of the city to see some of the natural wonders this country possesses.

Off overnight again, this time to the port of Labadee, a resort port on the island of Haiti that is owned by the cruise ship company. What a perfect Carribean stop, beaches, bbq, cocktails, sun and the glorious water of the Caribbean. I had only intended a multi beach swim /lunch/ then back on the ship stop, but ended up meeting a lovely young couple of newlyweds from Florida who wanted to spend the day 'chatting with the Aussie cause your accent is amazing'. 😂 hey I learned alot more about America and the music in Nashville (the husband was originally from there), and found out what 'dip ' is so it was a win-win. Btw 'dip' is like a tobacco but you don't chew it you stick it inside your bottom lip and then spit every now and then... kinda gross, but hey whatever floats ya boat!

Haiti outside of the resort area is a mess. A real mess. It's a country in financial crisis, with an unstable government and a collapsing infrastructure struggling to cope with the lawlessness of some of its inhabitants. I didn't do any of the tours as they didn't leave the safety of the resort bubble, so you weren't seeing the 'real' Haiti. I did end up buying a bracelet from a local artist and somehow being given 2 necklaces by another two artists...don't ask me what happened but to my relief, having them on seemed to deter other hardy salesmen. The people of Haiti still gain an income from having the ships come in, so for that I was grateful. It's not enough to fix their problems though....

All too soon we were back on board and off for our last night at sea, and for me, off to LA. Rather than doing the 6hr or so worth of flights followed by the big one back to Aus, I'd opted to fly to LA and spend one night there, leaving late the next evening. Synchronicity saw me receive the email for my free night of accomodation that I'd earnt earlier at one of the chain hotels in the US. This meant my last night was a freebie, go me! I got in late the night before, so literally had a day in LA. Jumped a tour that took me out to Marina Del Ray, Little Venice, Venice Beach, Santa Monica pier, Hollywood, the walk of fame, Mann's theatre... all the biggies! As much as I'd have liked to do the studio tours, no time. I will say I was underwhelmed by most of what so saw. Maybe I have been awed by too many things, but I thought LA was not worth the hype. The Hollywood walk of fame needed a bloody good clean, Venice Beach was just a beach with a whole lot of over priced tourist traps... I dunno. I'm hoping this isn't all of the West Coast because I was intending to go back and make it happen... (once I can convince someone to join me and share driving cause this one needs a co - pilot!)😁

I finally have to go back to Australia and make a decision about my job, where I'm going to live...pretty much have to go back and adult again (gosh darn it!).

How much has this adventure changed me? Immeasurably. I am so grateful I had the opportunity to do this. I am so proud of who I am and what I've achieved. Am I glad I did it - hell yeah! Would I change anything? Hell no! Everything that has happened, happened for a reason, changing it would change where I am now. I have learnt some amazing things about travelling, hints and tricks for booking places, how transport works in different countries, whether it's cheaper to buy tickets early/last minute. Logistical lessons most definitely. What I've learnt about me, could fill a book....

If I could encourage one person to take the step and travel solo and feel this joy and strength...even the smallest step, the shortest of time..just do it.

The people I have met have added something to each stage of my journey. No matter how small our interaction. For that I want to say a massive "Thank you", to each and every one of you. You have given me so much more than you would ever know or understand.

This isn't the end. It's only the beginning. There's a whole lot more of the world out there that I'm itching to explore ... I'll have to do it in pieces though as I've yet to discover the magic formula to allow me to continue to finance myself to keep travelling...

Where to next? Not sure yet... choice is an amazing luxury! Some of my trips I'll need a co-pilot to make it easier so that in itself will take time. Not sure how many people could handle travelling with me!!😉

We just walked into James's apartment. I am so sleepy. But it's been a great week off and I'm really happy. And tired. But mostly happy.

I did not sleep well last night. I put on a 4 hpur creepy pasta at 11pm and I listened to almost the entire thing. Ridiculous. I played on my phone and checked my ebay bids. And it was al good but I was exhausted.

I eventually did get some sleep. I woke up at 930 and waited for the ebay bidding to be over. I won my wooly furby! Im still not sure if its a baby. But im very excited either way.

I got dressed. And i sat in the living room with mom and played on my phone and had waffles. It was a nice and chill morning.

I finished packing up. And then dad came home. We decided to leave a little earlier and go get chipolte. So we packed up everything and got sweetp in his carrier. Which was very hard. But he got in and was only mildly angry.

Then dad left the keys in the house and we were outside in the rain and i was very annoyed. But it was all good. Got my kitty situated and headed to lunch.

Lunch was good but i got some weirdly salty bites. But it was nice spending some time with dad. We didnt get a whole lot of time together this week. But this was nice.

When we got to the car I realized I forgot my jacket and scarf back at the house. Annoying and innconvient but we werent that far. So we went back. Gave Molly a pet and mom a hug and then we were on the road by 1.

The drive was hard. It was foggy and rainy and we almost got in accidents a few times because of breaks and sliding cars. But we listened to podcasts and had some laughs and sweetp was half in and out of his carrier amd it was a good ride overall.

I was very tired though. I closed my eyes a little. We stopped and I got a pretzel. And we were in baltimore by 4.

We stopped at wholefoods to pick up my package. My new purse and whip cleanser thing came. The purse has a strong smell but everything i read in the reviews said it goes away fast. And its beautiful so I wasnt to bothered.

We got back to my place and ubloa2ded the car. Dad got a great parking spot. And I went to deal with unpacking. Which i wanted to be done asap.

I was tired. But determined. I got basically everything away. I packed a bag. Accidentally dumped my entired waterbottle in the bag. I repacked a bag to come over to James's. I fed sweetp. I took a shower. I did my makeup so cute. And me and dad were out the door around 6.

I had pulled out some tubs for my dad to take home. Of coats i dont wear and of finished art. But i needed to get my bike to James's house. So i biked myself over there and dad picked me up.

We went to James's parents for the Christmas get together. And it was so fun! It was so nice to see my James. I got to talk to a bunch of people that love James and it was a lot of fun.

I ate a whole bunch of snacks. I talked to old people who thought i was cute. I got to brag about James. I was tired but it was really nice. And i got to meet his sister and she was very cute. Not as tall as i pictured. But real pretty.

Finally at 9 James said we could go home. But then his friend walked in so he stayed an extra couple minutes while me and dad drove back to James's apartment.

James got here and we gave hugs and said goodbye. Then we came upstairs and he gave me the bracelet he got me. Its made so well. And then he made me popcorn and hes just the best boyfriend.

I am going to go to sleep very soon. And tomorrow we are working constellation together. I am going to finish a couple lesson plans. I would like to finish 9 to 13? Well see. I will do my best.

Turning a corner I overturned and have dented the front fender in front of the left wheel. Knocked the front left wheel out of alignment, all but removed the passenger mirror and scratched the left side of the car, only paint deep to my recollection. I have just returned from 2 months being away and was very much surprised to read letters from tesco insurance about being unable to take money from my account for the annual renewal of my policy and therefore cancelling it. I talked to my bank and they said that there were not attempts to take money from my account by tesco. While tesco says that my card has been refused. I asked tesco if they could reinstate my policy due to some fault with the payment, which does not seem to be my bank they say that cancelled policy cannot be reinstated and suggest to pay  230 for the period that they were trying to collect and open a much more expensive new policy. They also told me that I face penalty because my car is uninsured now. I would like to reinstate the policy as cancelled unfairly and at the same time I need to insure my car quickly to avoid facing penalty. I wanted to maintain Tesco policy in case they reinstate it, as i will not have cancelled policy on my records and will not have to pay extra for the month, they have been cancelling my account, i also have 2 years no claim with them, provided another insurance, whose car slightly dammaged my front door, while i was parked at a petrol station, pays them. Girl I met on Match and I went on our first date Sunday 1/15. We really hit it off. We really connect on a deep level (views on kids, faith/spirituality, goals in life, politics, etc).
