an irl friend of mine is really into jrpgs but doesn't really like western ones much (she's the one who uninstalled cp2077 while still doing the tutorial coz she didn't get to see johnny silverhand immediately and thought he'd be a super rare occurence during the game)

so when i told her about the dragon age gameplay reveal that was about to drop i didn't expect her to be as interested in it as she was, but basically she ended up deciding that she wants to get the game

and when the steam sale came on and she had an opportunity to get all the games for like less than a tenner i sent her the link to which she said "eh, i don't want to play games that are ten, fifteen years old, the graphics gotta be atrocious"

i was in the middle of my dragon age replay, which she knew of, and i'd occasionally send her screenshots, and this one time she was like "oh, so no more dragon age? you're back to baldur's gate?" but the screenshot was of blackwall lmfao

and when i told her she said she's surprised because "the graphics look so good"

one of the biggest ironies of my life that i was thinking about yesterday - i know that drag and drop / node-based 'coding' helps a wider (usually more visual) variety of brain types learn to program. this was the entire basis of the research group i was on for seven years in the burgh, and i completely agree with and support it. but im not that way at ALL. im that stereotype who likes pure code, and finds it easier to read the language and find patterns in the words/numbers/formatted lines than in nodes. i HATE nodes, and sometimes even fellow programmers look at me like im crazy for it.

Like dont give me that pretty but controlled interface, i want to know whats underneath.
