I mean I had guessed who would be in dire straits at the end of stranger things 4, but being prepared for seeing all that doesn’t mean I’m any less bitter about it
#I’m……. why#you know? i well like the writing and the plot took a dive in the last like four episodes#(which is not to say it was ever great to begin with)#stranger things spoilers#loptrcoptr watches stranger things#ok spoilers tho? I’m like… why didn’t any of the adults die#where are Murray and yuri and Antonov anyway ffs stop dropping all the eggs they’re supposed to be in the basket#but I kind of thought that hot e was going to die simply because a) killing hopper after killing hopper wouldn’t fly well and b) dying#by demodog like bob did would actually be thematically on point#but no! all the adults live and the children get maimed!#now I can’t remember Eddie’s actors name but I know he’s around my age so technically not killing a kid#max however??? that shot was traumatic. i don’t even care if she comes out of it eventually watching that severed a huge amount of affection#that I had for the show (which by now was mostly nostalgic lbr season one was good shit)#it felt tawdry to me that robin is talking to Vickie about peanut butter and boyfriends#while Dustin is tearfully telling Eddie’s uncle that Eddie is gone… twenty feet away in the same room#i know that was the point of that scene (great job on gaten’s((is that his name?)) part#but if all felt so objectively hollow— none of the core cast have been maimed or injured#so any attempt to make this all seem like it has gravitas or a grimdark weight looming….#it doesn’t work because none of the crew got hit but max lol#and they have never really treated her character like she’s fully part of the gang anyway#why not break elevens arms? she was right there. would’ve fucked us all up#if she was in a coma the emotional stakes for the final season would be higher and feel like they had weight#we could’ve had a hopper at her hospita bed promising her breakfast for dinner forever if she’d just open her eyes#but noooo real stakes shit is not a thing for this show#which is just a reminder that it was all about the feeling– the aesthetic and the nostalgia– to begin with#you ever seen the porch folder thing? it’s like. 90% vibes and pics from#famous 80s sci-fi and horror films. it just is obvious that the stakes were never high yknow!#also… didn’t they Jack the montauk idea and plot and shit from some other writer in he first place?

you know, i have a lot of negative things to say, but i want to take a second to say noah schnapp is actually a phenomenal actor. that painting scene was so great partially because he Made it great - the line delivery on every part of it hit me right in the gut it felt so Real like he was actually feeling it. i was blown away the younger cast (minus finn, honestly - i love him tho) was so good this season
Honestly, Finn was great in scenes that didn't involve El. Those scenes were the only ones where he felt phony. Even that monologue. His scenes with Will, though? You could see a lot of emotion in those. It felt restrained, but I think that was the point.
I agree about Noah, though. I want to know if he consulted with anyone to get things right with how Will is feeling. He really seems to grasp the pain a gay kid in love with his best friend would be feeling back then.
Caleb also did a phenomenal job, particularly in the final episode.
Ditto Gaten and Sadie.
The bulk of the young cast often gets overshadowed, but they showed their worth here.

Pairing: Dacre Montgomery X Reader
Word count: 2.8 K
Summary: You knew acting on Stranger Things season 3 would be a challenge, and you also knew, from the start, you'd have to work closely with Dacre Montgomery. But is wasn't a big deal for you, since this is your job and you're determined to act professionally. You had it all figured out, or so you thought, until the moment you were out face to face with Dacre. Then, this job became a lot harder than it was supposed to be, since you can't seem to focus whenever you're around Dacre. And you'll have to be around him a lot until the end of production.

Sleep Talking
Giggling, you and Dacre run to the elevator, trying to catch your breaths. “Do you think they'll notice?” You ask as the doors close.
“That we're an hour and a half late?” Dacre asks, sarcastically. “I think they will. Her floor?”
“Nine.” As you speak, you press the button. “Room... 905, I guess. If I'm wrong we'll be in a very embarrassing situation.” With a smile on your lips, you step closer to Dacre, tiptoeing to place a kiss on his lips. His arms holds you close and yours find their way around his neck. “What happened at the end of the movie, by the way?”
“I have no idea. I was too busy making out with this girl, you know.” He smirks, raising an eyebrow.
“Oh, really?” You were just about to kiss him again when the usual beep announces you reached the ninth floor. “Work now, kissing later. C'mon.” Taking his hand, you rush to find room 905, knocking softly just in case this is the wrong one.
But your breathe out relieved when Joe opens the door. “Look who finally decided to show up.”
“Good night, Joe.” Ignoring his comment, you walk inside, not letting go of Dacre's hand. Everyone is in position, but they're all turned at you now. “Hey, everyone.”
“Sorry. We're a little late.” Dacre says, guiding you to the middle of the living room, only letting go of your hand when he has to get to his position, next to Max and Dustin.
“Late? You're like–”
“An hour and a half late, yeah.” Cutting Gaten off, you nod. “We lost track of time.”
“That's so sweet,” Millie says, and that's when you notice she was recording this small conversation with her phone.
“Alright, can we resume this? Now that the two lovebirds are here we can get into the action scenes.” Joe claps his hands together, and they start reorganizing the scenario.
The scene they decided to go over is one where Millie will be thrown away, hitting you and making you fall with her, sliding for a couple of feet. So that's what you're into now. You get the sofa pillows and lay it on the floor to break your fall, and the plan is to find the right way to fall without making a mess. When the safety measures are taken, Millie positions herself across the living room.
“Ready?”
“Ready.” You nod, and on the next second Mille starts running, letting herself fall right before you, and she successfully kicks both your feet from under you, dragging you down with her. If it wasn't for the pillows, you both would hit the ground hard. Despite losing your breath, you laugh out loud as you stumble back to your feet. “This scene is going to be so hard to shoot.”
“My butt hurts,” Millie complains in between laughs. “I think I'll try landing on my side.”
“I'll try to hold your waist. So your weight will pull me easily.”
“Alright. Let's go!”
The action is repeated again and again, and you're having way too much fun being dragged down. You managed to hit the floor a few times when Millie pulled some pillow out of their place, but despite some pains here and there, you're fine. Soon after, you follow up with some general markings. Who stands where and who's supposed to run where, and all the interactions you'll have. It's a lot to cover, and you're a little tired, but you fight off sleep, keeping up with their pace.
But when they decide to focus on a particular scene among the kids only, you let yourself fall on the couch, and Dacre comes to sit beside you, an arm around your shoulders.
“Sleepy?” He whispers in your ear, and you snuggle closer to him, your head on his shoulder.
“Yeah, it's late.” Mumbling, you take a deep breath. Sleeping has been a little weird after you shared the bed with Dacre. You keep reminiscing that feeling, and it makes you feel terribly lonely. Cold, even. Sometimes you wonder if he ever feels the same. But you're way too shy to ask him that. “At least we only have to go to set tomorrow evening.”
“And that's why they're planning on doing that all night long.”
“What?” Bursting out, you turn to look at Dacre. “You're kidding me.”
“I swear I'm not.” He giggles at your eye roll. ”Well, it looks like they'll be doing that for a while...” Dacre gestures at the kids, and when you look, they're arguing about something, Noah and Millie with their scripts in hand, pointing at some line. “There's a sofa on the balcony we can use.”
“Please. If I get half an hour of sleep I'll be more than happy.” As soon as you're done speaking, he moves to stand up and you follow him.
“We'll get some fresh air,” Dacre says as he excuses himself, holding your hand as you make your way to the balcony. He slides the door open and gestures for you to walk out first and that's what you do. Dacre is a gentleman, Millie wasn't wrong about that, and the small details always warm up your heart.
You're happy to find that the small couch on the left corner will be shielded from their eyes by the wall. Dacre gently pulls you down when he takes a seat, and you let yourself fall with a deep breath, immediately snuggling closer, your forehead on his neck. “God, I didn't know I was this tired.” You mutter, pulling your legs up and laying them above his. Dacre's hand comes to your thigh, rubbing them softly.
“It's past midnight, I'm exhausted too.”
“Uhm... Let's sleep then.” Your voice is heavy with sleep, and your eyes are already shut.
You both fall into a gentle silence, as you fall into that funny state in between asleep and awake, where you're still somehow a little aware of your surroundings. And that means you know Dacre is holding you, making you smile. It's such an indescribable feeling. The butterflies don't seem to be sleeping at all, they still fly around your stomach, tickling your skin. It's amazing, better than being on LA, lying on the warm sand and watching the waves crashing. It's sweet and secure because you finally found someone who's not scared of what's inside, of confused, unnamed feelings. And you want him, this close, all the damn time.
“It's so weird to sleep without you.” The words leave your mouth, well, you think so at least, as you feel a warm hand rubbing the small of your back. “I feel so cold.”
“Do you want me to sleep with you?” A voice, so familiar and pleasant, speaks on your ear.
“Yeah.” You're quick to answer, the slow and steady movement of Dacre's chest rocking you to sleep.
“Hey!!” A shout makes you bolt awake, sitting up straight with your heart racing as your eyes find Millie, standing by the slide glass door. “Awn, I should've brought my phone. You look so cute.” Her voice softens as you clear your throat and stand up to your feet, still a little dizzy from sleep.
“Sometimes I wonder if your plan is to give me a heart attack.” You mutter, running a hand through your hair. “But let's go now, what's the scene we'll be doing now?”
“None. We're calling it a night.” Shrugging her shoulders, she gestures at the living room. “Almost everyone left already.”
“Oh, that's great!” You breathe out as Dacre stands up as well, taking your hand in his. “As you can see I'm super tired so I'll just head to bed.”
“Alright, but tomorrow at ten be back here,” Millie says as the three of you walk back inside. “I want you to perform the kissing scene.” There's a smirk on her voice, despite her back being turned at you as she makes her way to the door.
“Why?”
“Well, we gotta go over the scenes to make it right, haven't we?” Turning on her heels, she gives you a wicked smile.
“Well...” Mimicking her voice you smirk right back at her. “We have been kissing a lot so we kinda know how to do it, right, Dacre?”
At the mention of his name, he hugs you from behind, arms around your waist. “Absolutely.”
Millie rolls her eyes dramatically. She loves to tease, but she wasn't expecting you to snap back. “Alright, you two. Have a good night.”
“Good night.” Once you reach the hall, you take different directions since the elevator on the East side will leave her a lot closer to her room.
You and Dacre keep a slow pace, and you cover your mouth when a yawn comes. “I'll set my alarm to 9:45 tomorrow. I'll wake up, shower, and head back here.” Running a hand through your hair, you step in when the doors finally open. You both move at the same time to press the button, and Dacre gives you a look when you press 19. “What?”
“I was thinking that maybe we could...” His voice fades as he looks down at his feet.
“Tell me.” Stepping closer, you wrap your arms around his neck. “What were you thinking about?”
“Maybe we could sleep together. Like in the trailer.”
Oh. So he was thinking about that too... Right? Blushing a little, it's your time to avoid his gaze, shifting your weight from one leg to another. “Uhm, I... I would like that, but I'm so tired I don't think I'll be able to chat as we did in the trailer.” That's a stupid thing to say, you know it, but Dacre has this way to make you feel nervous, and you're not the smartest person on Earth when you're nervous. “But... Why this proposition now?”
“You kinda talk on your sleep and–”
“No, I don't.” Cutting him off, you step back, hands on your hips. “I absolutely do not and I forbid you to listen if I ever do, Mr. Montgemery.”
“Been a while since you called me that.” In a quick motion, he ends the small distance between you two, his arms pulling you close and his lips chasing yours. And despite the beep announcing that the doors are opening, you surrender to the kiss, lips moving together, as you both stumble out of the elevator.
“Alright, alright.” You exclaim when your hip hits one of the sideboards scattered around the halls. “Lead the way, Mr. Montgomery because I'm just about to faint of exhaustion.”
And so he does, never letting go of your hand. You can't help but feel a little nervous about this whole thing, almost to the point of finding an excuse and heading to your room. But you try to keep it cool, walking in, eyes immediately falling on the amazing view Dacre has from his balcony. “I'm still envious about the view you have here. It's the best. The only reason why I won't rant about it is because I'm tired.” Ignoring his giggle as he closes the door shut, you start making the way to his bedroom. “But just so you know, the first thing I'll do when I wake up is complain about why my room isn't facing this way. So brace yourself.”
“I would switch rooms with you, if only you ask.” Dacre reaches you when you get to the door, an arm hugging your waist. “Or just...” His voice fades as you both step inside. Turning on your heels, still in his embrace, you try to push tiredness back and understand whatever he means.
“Just what?” You watch as he closes the door silently. Dacre can be shy sometimes, mostly when he doesn't know if you will be comfortable with something, and when it happens, you always make sure to show him you want to know what it is. Even though this is not an official relationship yet, it does feel like it, and you're trying your best not to ruin it. To be honest and make everything work out.
“Maybe you could stay here.” The words finally come out, and you bite your lip as a little battle starts inside your heart. You do want to be around him as much as you can, but maybe it's too soon. Maybe this level of intimacy could break you apart before you even start. “I mean, there is only a couple of weeks left. Only the Battle of Starcourt scenes so... I just thought it could be nice.”
The fact is that you're always either here with him, or he's in your room. You only separate when it's time to sleep, so maybe this makes sense... And if it backfires, it means it was never supposed to be. Your mother told you to be brave, and don't let the anxiety and the habit of overthinking keep you from being around someone you love. “I agree...” Nodding, you look down. “I would be nice. But only–” Walking backward towards the bed, you point out at him. “–if we binge-watch The Office tomorrow.”
“Wasn't the plan to wake up fifteen minutes before ten and rush back to Natalia's?”
“Oh.” It completely slipped your mind. “Then we'll binge watch it whenever we can. Deal?”
“Deal.”
• • •
The Battle of Starcourt is way more complicated than you thought. The fact that you spent a lot of time with the guys preparing for it doesn't help much. James makes several changes and several takes, and more and more days pass by. You've been sleeping on the trailers since it's a lot easier to come and go from the set.
Today, you're super tired, drinking on another RedBull can, hoping it'll keep you awake for a while longer. It's almost three in the morning, and there's no sign of an ending in the next hours at least. Resting your back against the wall, you watch Noah and Gaten play thumb war, as you wait for the director to call you into the scene again.
“How many did you had already?” Millie asks, gesturing at your can.
“Third.”
“Fifth.” Says Joe, raising his can from his place, seated on the floor some feet away. “But this thing isn't working. Still feel like I'll fall asleep any moment now.”
“If anyone falls asleep, I'll be following shortly after,” Natalia says and you giggle.
“He's changing the lightning. Again.” Dacre mutters as he stands beside you. The mall is colored in pinkish, purple, and some blue lights. It makes everything beautiful, and you took too many pictures already, alone, with Dacre, and with the rest of the crew. But the bad thing is that the low lights aren't helping with your sleep at all. “He's obsessed with the lightning.” Dacre's voice is heavy too, and you can tell he's as tired as you are.
“When we get back to the hotel I'll–”
“Alright, everyone. Let's go!” James calls and you set in motion, drinking what's left in your can before placing it down on a table and following the others.
You take your place among the kids, under a fake wall that fell, kneeled down, you wait for the sign for the scene to start. Dacre is across the area, waiting for his cue too.
“Let's try to get this done in this shot, guys!” As he speaks, the smoke starts building up, and a lot of lights go on as some others go off. “Alright. And action!”
Millie starts running, coming from one the halls, straight across the open area, jumping on the fountain, and then at the ground again. Behind her, some explosions happen, right on the marks where the Mind Flayer will step on. Millie basically throws herself on the floor, a few feet away from where you are with the kids, sliding until the half safety the fallen wall provides. You see as Finn holds her, making sure to keep the act, with a scared, anxious expression on your face.
“Steve! Now!” Gaten yells, and you watch as Joe comes into the scene, followed by a bigger explosion, so louder than expected that everyone, you included, is startled.
Something goes flying into the air, and you're fairly aware of something coming your way, but when you squint your eyes to try and see better, you notice it's too close now, and before you can raise your arms to protect yourself, you're hit by something in the face, a loud noise filling your ears as the pain spreads through your skull. You feel the metal thing flying past you, and some the guys yell too.
With a hand covering your right cheek, you hear as James ends the scene, but it's hard to bring sense to anybody's words right now, not when your hand is getting wet by what could only be blood. You try stumbling to your feet, ignoring the commotion around you, but when the whole place spins around, you fall back to the floor, closing your eyes shut.

What do u think about the new filming pics of natalia, gaten, and sadie? 😶
i’m gonna try putting this under a read more but if that doesn’t work please stop reading if you don’t want any kind of spoilers !! i’ll be using my spoiler tags, too, so remember to blacklist/filter out ‘s4′, ‘st4’, and the ‘spoilers’ tags !!
seriously -- this goes in depth about set pics, audition videos, and theories.
i’m so sorry this is so incredibly long lmao. i’m just sitting on all this s4 stuff and i want to talk about it.
bottom line, i’m excited. i’m just happy to see that they’re filming again tbh, and i hope that they’ll be staying as safe and healthy as possible and that there won’t be any more major delays.
as for the content, i’m pretty happy about that, too. i love all of these characters and dynamics pretty equally, so any content with any of them is great to me. i think there was also a pic of priah on set that day, too, but it was far away and you couldn’t really see her that well. ultimately, it seems like there will be a lot of s1 and s2 vibes with the whole school setting, as a large part of the main cast will be together at hawkins high instead of off doing their own things during the summer.
i know a ton of people want a winter season, but i personally think it’ll be spring and i think nancy’s outfit in particular kinda points in that direction. plus, i don’t think they’d skip past nancy, robin, and jonathan’s senior year or the party’s first year of high school/el’s potential first year of school ever. they could do fall again and start right where we left off in s3 with the 3 month time jump, or they could do flashbacks to the holidays and time we’ll be missing. but i think the bulk of the season will be set in spring. spring has easter, easter = resurrection, david keeps referring to hopper being alive as a resurrection, strangerwriters twitter specifically brought up making easter jokes with hopper’s name, etc.
i have to bring up the s4 audition tapes that surfaced a while ago. i know they’re a controversial topic (are they real? should we put any thought into them? do they actually reflect any part of s4 at all? why would these be open to the public if they’re legit? etc., etc.), but for this ask and for the part of me that’s grasping onto like... any potential s4 info, i’m gonna be looking at them as if they’re real.
this one is for ‘warden hatch’, who is the head of a psychiatric hospital. now, we know pennhurst is gonna be in s4. we know natalia filmed there before production shut down. people said maya was also on set that day. the scenes in this audition have him talking to two girls who happen to be very smart and have a taste for investigating. they’re obviously lying about being in college (or, at least, at that particular college with that particular professor), so i think it counts as confirmation that the two of them are still in high school, or at the very least working around hawkins. i just can’t see why nancy would be at hawkins high if she wasn’t still a student.
this one is for ‘eddie’, the ‘80s metalhead who is into metallica, loves d&d, and is a potential ally. he’s also apparently a drug dealer. so. his audition mentions hellfire a lot. ‘the hellfire club’ is the name of the first episode of s4. and now we have a picture of gaten on set in a shirt that says ‘hellfire club’. at the end of s3, in the news report, they allude to dungeons and dragons being linked to satanism. it seems like this is something the hellfire club (apparently, a club for lovers of d&d) will be dealing with. there’s also a present rivalry of ‘jocks v. nerds’ with the club and the basketball team, which we know will also play a part in s4. in the audition, ‘eddie’ is talking to ‘paul’ (”you were wearing your weird al shirt”) and ‘curtis’ (”you were wearing whatever shit your mom got you from the goddamned gap”), who are... obviously dustin and mike. they tell him that ‘fred’ (lucas) will be missing the club meeting because he has to play basketball.
which brings us to ‘jason’ and the most uh... obvious? of the audition tapes. this is a scene from a pep rally for a championship basketball game, where ‘jason’ literally name drops heather, billy, and hopper, who all “perished in that fire” (aka the cover up for the battle of starcourt). now, ‘jason’ is dating ‘molly’, a cheerleader who goes to ‘eddie’ to buy drugs (which i think is the second scene included in ‘eddie’s’ audition above). this second ‘jason’ audition has the pep rally scene as well as a scene where ‘jason’ tells the basketball team they need to hunt down the ‘freaks’ in the hellfire club (but especially ‘eddie’) because something happened to ‘molly’ and he blames them (bc of the whole drugs and satanists thing). one of the basketball players speaks up to tell him that they aren’t satanists, it’s just a d&d club. i believe this basketball player is lucas (”and how exactly is it you know all that?” “my sister, she’s like.. a total nerd. she plays sometimes.”) and the basketball team/jason have no idea that he’s affiliated with the hellfire club.
so there are a few different situations which could lead up to the scene in the pictures with dustin and max, but there’s one more audition i need to talk about first. this isn’t the full audition because the original was deleted, but mrs. kelley is the new guidance counselor at hawkins high. her audition video seems to be a scene where she’s talking to a student about their home life and their grades. the situation in the scene is very reminiscent of max’s current situation and i think the full scene even mentioned the loss of a brother or something ? so, one parent is drinking and having to work two jobs after one asshole stepparent leaves, but things are still better with them gone. i think max might be retreating a little, pulling away from the party. in fact, i think both physical and emotional distance is going to be a theme in s4. like, not only is everyone in different places, but they’re going to be drifting into new situations with new people and new interests and all these new personal conflicts, i guess.
so, if we’re operating under the assumption that the audition vids are legit, maybe the scene is after the pep rally and dustin is checking up on max. she’s been hit pretty hard by billy’s death bc despite everything, despite how messed up and complicated everything was, he’s still been right there with her for years and she had to watch him die brutally. maybe she doesn’t want to think about it and maybe when ‘jason’ mentions his loss, it brings everything to the surface. or, maybe the scene is after the hellfire club meeting. dustin could be asking if she’s seen lucas or if she wants to be his replacement at the meeting. whatever it is, it doesn’t look like it ends on a very positive note.
uhhhhh in conclusion, nancy’s outfit suggests a spring season, she should still be in school along with robin, dustin is a part of the hellfire club, max is emo, and i’m very excited and happy.

stranger things thoughts n spoilers under the cut! i really enjoyed this season.
-one of my favorite things about st has always been the aesthetic of the show. the eighties-inspired visuals are always so strong and this season looked especially stunning— that mall?? holy shit. i love seeing vintage logos and the fashion (el’s look this season was so kickass) and the color palette this season was so beautiful. it felt like summer (and fireworks were popping outside of my house when i watched the finale it was very atmospheric)
-the transitions between scenes really worked for me, especially the comedic ones (“it’s impossible to break in!!1!!”) they built tension and felt very cheesy eighties scifi. the whole evil russians thing also felt very period
the adults
-i’ve never been super huge on jopper but this season won me over. besides all the fighting, they did make a really good team.
-murray and alexei were hilarious and i loved their duo, especially juxtaposed with joyce and hopper. the scene in the car was so funny and then the emotional whiplash of the woodpecker scene man :(
-like everyone else with a pulse i am in love with winona ryder, and she really shined this season. joyce grew so much as a character without disregarding her trauma, she’s a badass and man after that finale she deserves a goddamn break
scoops troop
-god erica was so good. all of her lines were gold and i love that her and dustin kind of bonded by the end (THE MY LITTLE PONY THESIS!!!). i think someone needs to make a gifset of nancy giving dustin a pep talk at the snow ball and then erica insulting him
-the erica/steve/robin/dustin dynamic was just overall really good.
-i esp liked dustin taking care of robin and steve when they were drugged— that was really good.
-so let’s talk about robin. i was so ready for her to be one dimensional and just like? steve’s girlfriend or whatever. and after the first couple episodes i was already impressed— robin was fucking awesome!! she’s a badass!! translating the russian code, she was so funny, maya hawke did an amazing job with her character. and when she came out??? man i fucking lost it. i paused the show and called someone and just said STRANGER THINGS SAID GAY RIGHTS and she said she didn’t want spoilers so i hung up. i did not expect them to go there with robin, but i’m so glad they did.
the party
-i think mike and eleven are very cute but watching them make out at the beginning made me a little uncomfortable? people sexualizing these kids (esp mbb) has been a problem so it just felt a little icky. but mike serenading el was great and very much relatable and his love speech (the thing old people say to each other) was precious.
-i loved seeing them just!! be teenagers!!
-max and el going to the mall and madonna playing and el starting to find herself was so cathartic
-the kids had some really iconic moments but “I DUMP YOUR ASS” was one of the best, and max+el’s moment on the bus after was very very good
-so, will. i’m upset that he didn’t have much to do this season after those first couple episodes. but the fight with mike and him destroying castle byers really hit me. noah schnapp is so damn talented— he captured so perfectly that feeling of alienation from your friends, that feeling of realizing childhood is really over now. as a queer person that hit me especially hard
jancy
-i felt for nancy this season, and watching her deal with misogynist pigs in the workplace made me respect her on a new level. everyone on this show deserves a goddamn break but i want to see nancy succeed.
-i wasn’t sure if i would enjoy the whole gang being separated for this season but i ended up enjoying all of the storylines and it made the payoff at the end when they were all reunited really cool.
-i was in a play my junior year and the main character was always referencing his girlfriend— SUSIE BABY— and she didn’t show up until the very end of the show. so when dustin started talking about his girlfriend suzie from camp i immediately thought of that play, and the ending had me floored. i really love that gaten got to sing and i loved everyone’s reactions and i esp loved how campy that duet was
-a lot of people are upset with billy’s death, but i think that’s what had to happen. it felt real. or at least, as real as heroic death by otherworldly monster can get. honestly i was kind of indifferent to the whole billy thing this season despite it being a main plot point, but dacre’s acting was very very good
-the hopper voiceover at the end really had me crying in my camp know where shirt from target. man,
going forward:
-i really don’t think hopper is dead. they didn't actually show him die?? and the post credits scene.. i feel like it would have been a bigger deal if they weren’t planning on coming back to this next season
-s4 nancy in a blazer a la working girls. shoulder pads baby!!
-will is going to have to talk to mike about the fight that was never addressed.

People need to shut the FRICK up about Noah and Caleb never getting recognition. Every other freaking post is "They never get enough credit so here's a thousand pictures about them" you know who never gets any recognition?! Dustin. Gaten. I never see any appreciation posts for him. He is the funniest out of the stranger things kids and even though he didn't have to pretend to be possessed he still did a good job playing Dustin and he deserves recognition. Rant over sorry bye
Noah honestly gets more attention from this fandom than every other cast member combined tbh. And okay this is gonna turn a little ranty but all ppl ever do is whine about him not getting an Emmy nomination and it’s so freaking ridiculous bc 1) Noah isn’t going to get an Emmy or any other award as long as Will Byers stays the kind of role it is now and 2) It’s just making Noah look bad when his fans are creating this reputation for him
Adding onto reason 1, Will Byers is not a role that gets awards and I don’t think people realize that. Noah is an AMAZING actor and he does such a good job, the reason he isn’t getting nominations isn’t because of his acting or because of the awards people, it’s bc of the role. These awards are about a lot more than just “who acted the best” it’s about who’s able to convey the best range of acting and Will isn’t a role where Noah really gets to do that. Within the show, Will only really shows 2 primary emotions, fear and sadness, then with some few scenes showing others but for the most part he shows those two emotions. And Noah does a GREAT job with those emotions and he’s a super talented actor who really does such a good job, but the role he’s in doesn’t give him enough of a range to rlly get these awards. It’s not a role where he really gets to show off a variety of emotions and ways of acting, and that’s what you need to get awards. And that’s also why Millie and David are always the ones who get nominations, because on the other side of things, their characters are the ones written with the most range and so many different emotions so Millie and David are better able to showcase dynamic styles of acting. It doesn’t mean they’re any better actors than Noah or that the awards are biased towards them, it’s just the fact that their roles in the show are the kind of roles that win awards, and Will Byers isn’t the kind of role that gets awards.
But frankly, that’s not what bothers me. It bothers me how the fandom will not STOP with complaining about Noah not getting an Emmy and no one seems to realize that reflects badly on HIM. Noah has done his best to be so mature and supportive throughout every single awards show for his fellow cast members and has kept such a positive attitude. But that doesn’t change the fact that when people hear about him, all they hear is his fans whining he didn’t get a nomination and tearing down other actors, and that’s impacting NOAH’s reputation and making HIM look bad, even if he’s being perfectly mature about it himself. If you want to support Noah, start by, I don’t know, actually supporting him. And tearing down the television academy and other actors and all that is not supporting him, it’s the opposite in fact.
And about Caleb, it’s honestly bs. He gets so much attention, but the attention he does get is nothing but “Support Caleb!!! Don’t forget about him!!! Give him attention!!” without ever actually supporting him or anything. Just like the fandom does with Lucas himself, it’s completely hypocritical. People just want to use Caleb and Lucas to make themselves look good by “supporting” the poc for “woke points” without actually supporting either of them. If you want to appreciate Caleb or Lucas, stop with the goddamn “Appreciate them!!” posts and actually start posting or reblogging content appreciating them.
And tbh you’re right that Gaten rlly does get no attention. He is such a sweet kid but I do feel like I never see anything about him. This fandom definitely has an attitude like “Okay let’s talk about Millie, Finn, and Noah!!” and then only mentions anyone else as an afterthought. And I don’t want to get too ranty with this because I don’t want to be hypocritical myself, with those “appreciate x!!!” posts without actually appreciating them, but at least speaking for myself, I do wanna do better when it comes to acknowledging all the cast members, and I think that’s something we should all be trying

Lucid Dreams and Fake Bruises|| Joe Keery

Summary: Y/N works as a make up artist on the set of Stranger things and can’t help but fall into lust with Joe.
Warning(s): None
Pairing: Joe Keery x Reader
a/n: my first one shot on this account!!!

His old faded jeans

your floral embroidered jacket
Two layers
It could only be a few more till you lost count. As the mix of both of your clothes piled messily on the floor, the fluttering feeling in your chest buried itself deeper and deeper. The lighting in the room was dimmed almost to the point of being completely pitch black, but that didn't matter because you could tell it was him staring down at you. His soft caramel eyes burrowing into your heart.
However, it didn't take long till you heard it again. That damn noise, the loud blare of your alarm. You tried to fight it as best you could, but you felt this universe slowly fading away from you. His skin turned to mist in grip and his eyes slowly faded from your vision.
You awoke with a start to the lovely noise of your 5:30am alarm. You had to be on set relatively early today, hence the extremely crude awakening. Apparently it was supposed to rain later in the day and that conflicted with a scene the crew was planning to shoot. You decided you could probably sneak in another fifteen minutes of sleep before you started receiving texts from the crew questioning your whereabouts.
You didn't mind your job, it really wasn't too grueling apart from the lengthy hours. Ever since you could remember you'd been fighting tooth and nail to land a gig as solid as the one you had with Netflix productions. After a few years of viciously fighting for a distinguished job in make up arts , you finally landed the position of main makeup artist on the production crew of Stranger Things. You mainly were assigned to the touch ups of the primary characters, which meant you actually spent a lot of your shift babysitting. Despite the fact that the kids were great and genuinely very mature for their age, they were still kids. Externally you pretended to be peeved by their antics but you honestly grew to love the little trouble makers.
The kids weren't really your main problem on the job, your true struggles came into tuition with the older cast members. There's no room for awkwardness when Gaten's constantly supplying quality puns, or Caleb is explaining a new dance move he made up. But with the adults, it can get really quiet between the two of you. They were all lovely and extremely distinguished, but that's where the issue came in. You were pretty shy in general and with their status' of fame, you were honestly intimidated. You wanted to impress them as ridiculous as it sounded.  Ironically, the one person you wanted to impress the most, was actually the cast member you had the best relationship with.
The charming Joe Keery had you hooked after your very first interaction. You rarely experienced an awkward quiet moment with him, probably because he was so laid back and talkative that he didn't know what an uncomfortable moment was. The closer you got, the easier it got for you to talk to him while doing his cover ups. You were honestly each-others on-set therapists and neither of you were complaining. Joe was pretty inclined to tease you about your quiet nature, but you adored his comedic style so much you didn't even mind. Matter of fact, his jokes about you were probably the best ones you heard during your shifts.
At around 6:30, you made your way sluggishly to the hair and make up trailer. The other artists shot you a nod or a small half smile, but it was evident that no one was really in the mood for over the top greetings at this time in the morning.
"Who's shooting first today?" You softly questioned your coworker, Ben, who was the main hair stylist.
"I'm pretty sure it's a scene between Joe and Natalia. I heard something about it being after a scene where Joe gets beat up." Ben replied, a slick smile spreading across his face because he knew how much you loved to do make up other than just cover ups.
Before you had the chance to reply, the trailer door swung open and one of the Duffer brothers strolled in with Joe and Natalia not far behind. You were relatively sure it was Ross but you'd gotten them confused before and didn't feel like outwardly embarrassing yourself this early in the morning.
After Ross (maybe), explained the appearance he wanted the characters to have, everyone set off on their own job. You walked over to your make up station, knowing without looking that Joe was following closely behind you.
"Are you excited? You finally get to do the bruise make up you're always raving about" Joe asked, somehow mustering a genuine smile despite the fact that he was  awake before the sunrise.
"Of course, it's my dream to make the Joe Keery look like hell. I've got quite the task ahead of me" You responded, keeping up with the high spirited banter.
He leisurely sat down into your make up chair, relatively accustomed to the process  by now. You fell into conversation so naturally, you felt as though you were reading a script of never ending discussion topics. However, after a few minutes, you found yourself getting distracted from the makeup. The closer you examined his features, you began to feel flustered. His eyes flickered to yours, and suddenly the dream came rushing back to you. You felt your cheeks flush and your stomach flip, as you began to recall the events of your dream from last night.
"Are you okay?" Joe questioned, a comforting tone of authenticity in his voice. You were pulled back into reality, tensing up slightly at even the thought of Joe realizing that you had a dream about him.
"Uh yeah, sorry." You chuckled softly, returning to shading a bruise onto his forehead. You placed your palm gently under his chin to tilt his head upward slightly. It was extremely difficult to stay focused as your finger tips kept brushing up against his strong jawline.
"I'm genuinely so desperate to watch Game of Thrones tonight, but my HBO keeps malfunctioning. It's driving me crazy." Joe began to trail you off into another lucid conversation.
"Come over to my hotel room tonight, I was planning on watching anyways." You responded half heartedly, more focused on the makeup than what You were saying.
"Really?" He questioned, his eyes examining your face attempting to decipher whether you were being genuine.
"Yeah, of course. I'll text you which room I'm in." You smiled softly, not really thinking much of the favor. As excited as you wanted to be about him coming to your room later that night, you knew you had to keep things cool because you were pretty sure he thought of you as just a friend. However, you couldn't help but notice the Hint of soft pink blush in his cheeks after the conversation.
***
You couldn't help but feel anxiety at the idea of you and Joe alone in your hotel room. You literally couldn't function at the thought of it, so you just lied against the cotton sheets of your hotel bed, staring up at the ceiling fan. He'd be showing up any minute now, and to be honest your nerves grew with every passing second.
With the noise of an echoing knock on hotel door, you shot up from the bed, glancing towards the other side of the room. You made your way to the door, and taking a deep breath, pulled it open.
You were greeted by the sight of Joe leaning against the door frame in a plain black t-shirt, clearly unsure of what to do with his body. "Woah, you look cool", you chuckled at his oddly staged stance.
"Yeah, I wasn't really sure how to stand while waiting" He responded with a soft laugh, causing a strand of his brown hair to Tumble onto his forehead
After around thirty minutes of theorizing and placing bets on what would happen in the show, the two of you finally settled down on the couch and begun watching. You tried to focus on the show, but honestly how could you when Joe was sitting right next to you, essentially a perfect human being.
The two of you weren't really watching the show so much as commentating over it. "I bet this scene is all a dream... I had a weird dream last night, I think I died in it..." Joe said quietly, awkwardly trailing off with the sentence.
You laughed, responding "I had a dream about you last ni-" you immediately pressed your lips together, silently cussing yourself out.
"You had a dream about me?" Joe asked, his interest seemingly peaked. He adjusted his seating position so that he was facing you now.
"Kind of-it was- not really..."
"Come on, tell me what it was about." His familiar smile spread across his face, illuminated by the tv, which at this point he had entirely disregarded.
In the midst of your conversation, you hadn't realized how close he'd gotten to you. You could tell he noticed at the same time as you by the look in his eyes, but he didn't move back.
"It was about-" Before you could finish your sentence, you were cut off by the feeling of his lips on yours. You felt Ice run through your veins at the feeling, not even sure if it was reality anymore.
He pulled back, searching your face for any expression to give away how you felt. You let a smile slowly slide across your lips, as relief filled his expression.
"How'd you know?" You questioned, chuckling lightly as he tilted his head in confusion. "That's what it was about... my dream"
That authentic Joe grin spread across his face as he leaned in again. Your lips touched again and suddenly the dream felt like nothing compared to the reality.

Tim Ives Interview With Collider
(Collider) You’ve been with Stranger Things from the beginning, having shot the first two episodes. I was curious how the show was first pitched to you, and what those initial conversations were like with the Duffer Brothers about what the show would look like.
TIM IVES: Well, so first I got the outline in this little packet that they sent out. It was beautifully made, a little booklet on the films that they loved, and a lot of those references. We looked at reference films like E.T., Stand By Me, Close Encounters, and when we got together, we talked about them some more and I talked about certain lighting styles that say Allen Daviau did in E.T. for Steven Spielberg, that really contributed to that movie’s feeling and ambience. And some of those techniques I think aren’t really—if I lit something like that today on a modern show, it wouldn’t really be appropriate, but we really wanted the show to feel like it was made back then. At least in the first season we really wanted that. So we looked at a bunch of references, and I did everything I could in my power to use the techniques and what was popular, in lighting, by some of my cinematic heroes back then.
(Collider) I’m sure that was a pretty fun challenge for you then, to emulate some of these classic films.
IVES: It was a gift. It’s a gift to be able to do that, especially from my early heroes. It was my first real movie-going decade, as well. I guess it’s mostly Spielberg, including Indiana Jones as well, Temple of Doom and the first one, especially.
(Collider) Season 2 feels a bit more colorful, a little more dynamic, and certainly darker. So what did you guys discuss in terms of making Stranger Things 2 visually distinct from the first season? Were there different films that you were looking at?
IVES: It did progress. We talked about filmmakers like James Cameron and John Carpenter and it was gonna be a pretty dark season for poor little Will. But we did want more color. The guys always said that they wanted the series to be fun. When I first read it I was like, “What’s fun about a kid being kidnapped?” But the reality is, there was a great story there, obviously, and there’s a little bit of safety in the way we did it, so that it’s more geared toward families than it is towards people who just want to get the bejeezus scared out of them.
(Collider) You shared DP duties with two other cinematographers this season. So I was curious, how does that collaboration process work in terms of ensuring that the aesthetic is consistent across the board?
IVES: So the first season, I was going to be shooting all of them, and the Duffers were gonna direct all of them as well. So when they got a little behind on writing, we had Shawn Levy come in and direct episodes three and four. And I needed to keep prepping for five and six, so I called Todd Campbell, who had just been doing the first season of Mr. Robot, which I did the pilot for. I met him in Austin at the premiere of Mr. Robot at South by Southwest, and I like Todd a lot. He was an up and coming, great cinematographer, and I felt like he did such a great job on Mr. Robot, taking what I did in the pilot and moving it forward, that it just seemed like it would be a good fit if he were available and he was, luckily for us. So he came in and filled in on Seasons 1 and 2, in that same slot, which opened up our ability for the Duffers and I to really prep and get some of the other episodes done. We also had David Franco in Season 2. He did episode seven, which was sort of a bottle episode with Eleven. He was hired by the Duffers, and that episode was meant to be, as far as I believe they were concerned, a bottle episode, one that didn’t really have to have the full aesthetic of Stranger Things. They were out of town in a different environment, and so there was that. But that’s where we were at, for the first two seasons.
(Collider) In Season 2, you got to shoot two episodes with Andrew Stanton, who I’m a big fan of. I was curious what it was like working with him as a director.
IVES: Andrew is the greatest guy in the world. He is also really devoted, selfless, and he was a pleasure to work with. I think for scheduling reasons it didn’t work out that he came back this year, but ever since we started with him, we’ve remained very friendly. We both love literally the same music from a bunch of different decades. It’s uncanny how similar our tastes are. I don’t feel there’s a week that’s gone by since I filmed a year ago with him that we haven’t texted some new song, or tried to get together for breakfast, or to do something. It was a great collaboration. The Duffers were super happy with what came for episodes five and six from last year, and just to work with somebody who has done such incredible work for Pixar was pretty mind-blowing for me.
(Collider) You also shot I think the best set piece that the show has ever done, which is the Snow Ball. That was just the cherry on top of a really great season. What was it like shooting that and how did you go about planning out that aesthetic?
IVES: Really good question. There were big decisions to be made, and there were some thoughts of going very slick with it, and doing something really cool. And even though I haven’t really embraced the Stand By Me aesthetic too much in the show, it felt like that was the one point where we needed to simplify it, and not hit it over the head with too slick a thing. So we designed it with Jess Royal and Chris Trujillo, to incorporate Christmas lights into the set. And really the idea was, in 1985, if you were in charge of throwing the Snow Ball, how would you decorate it? What would you do? What would you use? So, that was the mantra for it. We also looked at a bunch of John Hughes movies too, who continues to be an influence for us. But it was really fun, because I really wanted to simplify it. We actually rigged a huge disco ball in the ceiling, off camera, and had a bunch of lights built on a truss around it, that gave us the twinkly look all the way around it. And then I actually thought it would be fun, at one moment, to have snowflakes fall, as a magical moment, not thinking that maybe it might look a little bit like the flocking we use when we’re in the Upside Down.  So we did one take, and we were getting ready to do some snow. And the one take was so amazing, and the kids were so amazing, that I ran over to the Duffers and we both shook our heads and were like, “We don’t need any snow.” It was very funny, because we were just trying to add something to it, and then at the last second we were like, the performances are so good, so rock solid. Gaten Matarazzo, as Dustin, your heart just falls for the kid. So he killed it, and so did Natalia, and all the kids did. It was so fun to shoot. It was hard, because we were up against the clock with all these kids, as we usually are, and that last shot we got of that, the big crane shot coming out, we see the Snow Ball Dance banner, we thought we weren’t gonna make it. We had 45 seconds left and we moved that crane over to the back super fast, and we just said, “Go, go, go.” The ADs were freaking out, and we were like, “Just do it, we gotta get the shot! It doesn’t work, it doesn’t work.” And it wound up, that one take, working beautifully. It’s the last take inside the Snow Ball before it goes outside. But I’m proud that we got that one.
(Collider) It’s a great shot, and I just love that sequence so much. One of the things that you do so well with the show is playing with light sources, specifically the Christmas lights, and then you had the light above Will in the shed in Season 2. I was wondering if you could talk about integrating these actual light sources into the frame, in Stranger Things, and how big of a role they play into the visual aesthetic there.
IVES: Well I’m a big fan of lighting with practicals anyway. You walk into someone’s home, or any interior place, there’s always gonna be a light source, whether it’s artificial or whether it’s a big window light that comes in. You need to at least suggest that there is something lighting this house, that’s either natural or artificial. I not only like to see lights in the shot, but I like them to actually have some use, and work in the set. As far as the shed in Season 2 goes, it was an interrogation scene, and I also like pushing—when we used to shoot film, I liked pushing film to the extremes, and I don’t mind doing it on the digital cinema as well. So those lights that you see, in the interrogation of Will, those are the same lights we used on reverses. I cleaned them up a little bit so it looked a little bit nicer on their skin, with some diffusion. But there was just a little bounce in the ceiling and that. I wanted it to be super hot, because he’s supposed to be under the lights. And it actually served us very well, because what I did when we were looking back at Clay and Winona, and that light is hitting Will, and it’s pointed right at the camera, Will is there, Noah Schnapp is the actor, he’s actually got a little piece of white fabric on his shirt, off camera, that’s bouncing back into Winona’s face, to light her. So literally the light is bouncing off the actor, and I think he just kept his eyes closed or we may have given him sunglasses or something But I think a lot of the aesthetics that I tend to like tend to be simple. If I can do it with one light or so, I try to, or at least try to make it feel like it’s not a lot of too complicated sources
(Collider) I think you just wrapped the first block of Stranger Things 3, and I know you can’t say anything specific about it, but I was wondering if you could tease aesthetically what fans can expect, this season? I know the Duffers like to look at them as sequels, so I imagine things will change up a bit this year.
IVES: Yeah. They do change up, there’s some new cast members that have been published as well, and we just finished up the first two episodes. I think the show is more fun and more thrilling than it’s ever been, right off the bat. It’s super, super fun, and funny, and scary at the same time, which is probably my favorite combination of things. So, I know the Duffers want to surprise the fans, and give them things that they didn’t expect and such. But I can say the production design as well has been remarkable. So it’s super exciting. We’ve had more fun than we’ve ever had in the last two months making the first block. And everybody that’s been part of Stranger Things in the production process agree that it’s gonna translate well to the episodes. So, we couldn’t be having more fun, and working harder, and really having a blast with the season. It feels really fresh and fun.
(Collider) Were there any specific films you guys talked about influencing Season 3?
IVES: We’re not gonna change our look so drastically that the show looks like a different show. I think that it just is evolving. I’m as proud as I’ve ever been of the show as far as my contributions to it, but no, I think we’re still taking about that James Cameron thing, and that John Carpenter thing, and moving it forward. And really, we found our own thing now, and we always laughed at it when we reference ourselves, as just, “Oh, who do we think we are?” But we’re having fun, and if it feels right, we do it.
(Collider) Has filming during the spring and summer months changed the look and feel of it at all?
IVES: We have more green trees (laughs)
(Collider) That’s fair.
IVES: We have a lot more green trees, and the weather is less cooperative. But as far as the look of it goes, no. We’re uncompromising with that, so we’re not gonna be affected by anything, except what we want it to look like.

What Happens BTS at Snowball - Gaten Matarazzo
Gonna try to start writing Stranger Things imagines since I have a lot of ideas.
I love Dustin/Gaten BTW so there might be a lot of him, sorry about that if you don’t like him.
This does include slight spoilers so make sure you’ve seen season 2.

Tumblr media
(Y/N) POV
We were filming the Snowball scene and I was a background dancer. I’ve done some background work for this show so I know the cast well. They’re all amazing, but I definitely like one the most. I may have a huge crush on Gaten. He looked so adorable and handsome during this scene (more than usual). Let’s just say it’s not easy watching him ask a ton of other girls to dance and dancing with Nancy, even if it is just acting.
“AND CUT!” The director yelled. We just finished filming Gaten’s scene. “Great job! 30 minute break everyone!” He yelled. Thank god, these shoes were getting uncomfortable.
As I started to take off my shoes and walk out of the gym to the break room with everyone else, someone tapped my shoulder. It was Gaten.
“Hey, um, do you maybe wanna dance?” He held out his hand. I was shocked, but smiling stupidly wide.
“Sure!” I said maybe a bit too enthusiastically by the light giggle I got from him. “The DJ’s on break, what music do we dance to?”
“Don’t worry, I got that one handled.” He said while picking up an aux cord connected to the speakers. He plugged in his phone and moments later, Perfect by Ed Sheeran came on. He walked back over to me and held out his hand. I took it and we slowly began to dance to the music. It was perfect (no pun intended).
“I found a girl, beautiful and sweet. I never knew you were the someone waiting for me.” He sang softly as I wrapped my arms around his neck and brought us closer. As the tempo started to kick up, he twirled me around. I twirled him too which made us both laugh. We were so lost in each other’s eyes, I felt like I was dreaming.
“I don’t deserve this. You look perfect tonight.” He sang the last line then like magic, our lips touched. We pulled apart slowly as the song ended.
“Wow.” Was all I could say with the stupidly large smile plastered on my face along with the heavy blush.
“So if you haven’t guessed, I really like you. Would you like to be my girlfriend?” He smiled hopefully.
“Of course!” We kissed again. All of a sudden we were startled by the first notes of an upbeat pop song.
“Would you care to dance?” I asked in a mockingly fancy tone.
“Oh I would love to dear!” He continued the joke while we laughed. We started jumping around and trying to see who had the worse dance moves. We were laughing ourselves to tears. At some point we noticed the rest of the cast dancing around us.
“So you guys are finally together!” Millie hugged me. I just laughed because apparently everyone knew about our crushes for each other except us.
After we finished filming, all 7 of us went out to dinner to celebrate Gaten and I. It was definitely the best way to end the season.
