wait from sweeney todd is so beautiful and special to me because it actually shows the connection between sweeney and nell. he’s anxious, impatient, and heartbroken. so she sooths him, singing to him slowly and touching him gently until he’s a little less tense. and nellie lovett is able to lullaby and comfort him through the blackest rage and deepest sorrow a human could go through. call her evil, but mrs. lovett undeniably has a nurturing presence and a lovely femininity about her that makes her character so hard to hate. she has the soul of a mother and the mind of a vixen.
