Plot: You are a rookie in your first f1 season, adding to the ever-growing amount of Brits performing in the grid

You left Japan as quickly as you could, you wanted to completely forget about the race.

You'd gone home as there was a pretty large break between Japan and Australia, you spoke to your family about whether they thought getting more of these therapy sessions was a good thing.

Everyone thought it was a good idea, they could tell you'd been struggling for the last few weeks as you looked nervous and pressured during media duties and even though your driving was good, they knew you were made of more you were just scared to push.

So you had started to pay Chris, he made himself available 24/7 to you over text message and you were set to have weekly calls with him. You'd had one before Australia stressing some of you minor concerns about the race.

But all in all, Australia was one of your more confident tracks. You'd spent al lot of time on the sims going round Albert Park, you'd started to test out new racing lines because you were that confident.

When you got to the paddock, entering in a blazer and trousers with a nice pair of stilettos. You always liked dressing up when walking through the paddock for the first time, there was a certain level of power you felt when you did. You had a lot of cameras on you, as you walked through with Chris, who agreed to come to this race weekend with you and your PR manager.

You saw some fans waving you over so you hastily walked over to them.

"Y/N! Y/N!" they cry making you smile and start to take pens and caps and your mini helmets signing as much as you could while taking pictures with all the phones being offered to you.

A little boy shyly comes up to you, holding a little Audi car all boxed up, one that you promoted.

"I-I don't have a pen! Some-one stole it from me" he sniffles and you squat down to his height seeing the tears in his eyes.

"Can i borrow that please?" you ask a girl whose cap you just signed and she nods politely, squealing a little when you touch her hand as you reach up from your lower position to take it.

You sign the little boy's car for him and he pulls you into a big hug, thanking you. The parents further the thanks before you look at the paddock lanyards round their necks. You take the little boys hand and start to take him with you.

The parents follow behind happily talking to Chris and one of the Audi Mechanics that had seen you signing stuff.

You walk him to where you can buy merch. You get him an Audi Hat, Audi top and you get a little driver's poster. You sign it all there on the desk and hand it to the parents in the bag while placing the hat on his head.

"Thank you" he grins at you, the parents thank you as well before leaving. You leave towards the Audi garage, waving at the few people who you still trusted.

Alex had eventually caught up to you and walked side by side with you.

More people took pictures of the pair of you as you walked down the large and open stretch. Martin Bundle had come up to you both during his media day grid walk asking you both questions that you simultaneously answered questions too.

Eventually, you found yourself getting bored. Your PR team wanted to give you a cool down after the accusations from last week and not force your image back so soon. So they mainly focused on Alex.

You eventually left Audi hospitality where you'd been doing some private work on a laptop. You needed to get some fresh air and go for a walk. There was also only an hour before the F1 Academy Qualifying started and you wanted to be there for that.

You were walking down the strip when you see the two Ferrari boys walking towards you.

"Y/N? Can we talk?" Charles asks and you cross you arms looking down at him. Usually you felt quite small around Charles, not just because of his personality but because he was naturally taller than you. Now you were in these heels he was the one looking up at you, and if he was about to apologize you'd find that kind of funny.

"Depends what you want to talk about!" you admit to him.

"About how I acted about what I said!" he offers looking down meekly making you scoff.

"Look Charles, the fact that you ignored me all last weekend when I tried to reach out to you and then went as far as to not believe me when I'd be accused of drug use... which is a really serious accusation which was pulled into investigation because of your team and Red Bull... I don't really feel like I owe you a conversation! So no, we cant talk" you say, before walking off and towards the Mclaren garage in hopes of finding Lando.

You walk up to the entrance finding two workers outside who wave at you.

"Hey Y/N!" one of them smiles at you.

"Hey guys, how are you?" you smile at them and they nod talking to you about their stressful day trying to get content for Mclaren. You nod along with them as they rant until Lando comes trotting down the steps.

"Y/N! You wanna go for a track walk?" he asks and you nod, pit walks were always really good. It gave drivers the change to see it up-close and take it in while you walk around it.

"So, Charles text me" Lando starts as you both walk out of the pit lane and onto the track.

"Mmmm" you mumble quietly not really meeting his eyes.

"Said you weren't ready to talk to him?" he almost asks as if he's seeing if you thought you made the right call in not talking to him.

"All last week i tried to talk to him, tried to be his friend but tell me why he ignores me and pushes me away at every opportunity he gets. You don't do that, not when he spent the whole time between Japan and South Korea with me" you admit, rubbing your hands together.

"Maybe if you let him explain?" Lando suggest with a shrug.

"You meddling little bitch" you say lightly making his shoulder.

"Hey, hey! Ease up or i'll report you for trying to sabotage another team!" he jokes rubbing his shoulder a little.

"Seriously though, I agreed to this walk to talk with you, not talk about Charles, it's not just the fact he ignored me anyway" you sigh holding a hand up to block the lowering sun.

"Anyway, how are you feeling about the race?" you ask trying to steer the conversation away.

"Yeah pretty good, this year could be our year!" he smiles looking over at you.

Australia went alright, considering you not only had a lot on your mind but had car troubles you managed to finish P10, in the points Alex just above you in P8.

Team debrief was longer. talking about the car troubles you experienced before you were let go.

You met with Daniel, both he and Oscar wanted to take you out for food where they were both in their home country. Of course this meant you guys picked up Lando as a default. You guys went out for a meal, everyone online was excited to see the four of you out together.

Next weekend up was Jeddah, you performed really well there, your team thought it was time to use you for media again as much as Alex, and you ended up coming P4, Carlos just ahead of you taking that podium alone with Lando and Max.

After that came your most feared circuit... Spa. It was sort of a meme, when you were working your way up through feeder series and driving in other motorsport championships before you came to F1 that you never finished a race in Spa, there was either car problems or it rained and strategy was awful and you'd crash out or you would just have a problem driving.

You were hopeful to end that streak, the Curse of Y/N in SPA.

And it looked like that throughout all the free practices you completed and coming in P3, having set the fastest lap in Q1 on top of that.

You were nervous, but everyone was telling you that it looked like clear skies for the whole day and that it should be fine.

"Y/N?" a voice said behind you as you were about to hop into your car. You turn round spotting Charles there looking at you.

"Oh, Charles! You okay?" you ask looking over him.

"I know you struggle here, but I just wanted to say that I believe in you and what you can achieve today" he says in a small voice. The words, they were just words but it was the way he said them that you could tell that there was a different meaning behind them. And you appreciated it.

So you went into the car with a clear head.

"Radio check Y/N?" your engineer asks.

"Loud and clear, lets make this a good one" you reply before heading out for the formation lap. You do it and everything feels normal with the car.

You then wait for the lights out, you get an incredible start managing to go between Carlos Lando.

"OH WOAH, INCREDIBLE RACING FROM Y/N. She's managed to go between the Mclaren and Ferrari and SHE'S IN P1 Y/N Y/L/N LEADS THE BELGIAN GRAND PRIX" Crofty exclaims as he watched you on the screen in the commentators box.

You lead for the next few laps defending exceptionally from both Lando and Sainz who had managed to keep pretty close to you. After that it was a complete shit show. You had a really long pitstop, it was around 15 seconds and you were asking your engineer what was going on but they just said they were looking into it. It sent you down from P1 all the way to P18.

"Fuck sake!" you complain.

"I'm sorry for that Y/N, but lets pick up the pace and try get back up there" you have a spectacular drive. Your car was a rocket ship and you managed to get all the way back up to P4 and was about to overtake Leclerc when the rain report came through.

2 laps later and it was really raining, you'd pitted after a safety car was deployed changing tires and you managed to get the overtake on Leclerc. Into P3.

The rain only got heavier and that was when the race went tits up. The rain somehow interfered with your radio and it was only static you were receiving.

For the next laps you were relying on the pit board.

"What an interesting race this has been. Y/N has driven phenomenally and this is to date with out a doubt her best race in Spa, even through all the bad luck she's managed to pull through and she is currently in P1, defending her ass off from Lando and Lewis who are close behind her. This is just immense racing here today. She really came here with the mindset of a winner!" he explains looking at your on-board.

"Yeah, i mean she'd been without radio communications for 20 laps of this race, and the rains fading now, most crews are preparing to pit and make a final tyre change but its seems like nothing has been communicated to her"

As the track started to dry up you loose grip on the tyres more and more. There was no communication from your team and you were debating what to do. If you eased up now, you'd let Lando, Lewis and Carlos all past and risk your first win.

The last peice of communication you saw going past the pits was that you were leading and there was only 3 laps to go.

Lando was very close behind you, constantly in your wing mirror. He had tried some moves in an attempt to overtake but you'd kept defending like your life depended on it.

You go round one corner at the same speed you had been for the whole wet part of the race not realizing how quickly this corner had dried out. You attempt to break a little quicker, Lando doesn't antisipate and rear ends the back of your car, flipping you over.

"OH MY LORD THAT A MASSIVE CRASH FOR Y/N DOWN ON TURN 6. She broke early being on those intermediates where the tracks starting to dry out and Lando hasn't reacted quick enough. In the process he's busted his front wing!"

Lando Radio: Is she okay? I didn't mean that! I was it bad i went past to quickly to see where she went

Engineer: Red flag Lando, Red Flag

Lando Radio: Please tell me she's okay?

Lewis Radio: Holy shit, is she okay man. Why is she still on the inter's?

Engineer: Lewis that a Red Flag

Lewis Radio: This was a bad one.

And it was, you flipped multiple times before your car slammed into the barrier. You felt like an elephant was sitting on your chest right now and your head was dizzy.

"That's a really bad crash, and we don't even know if she's alright because the radio isn't working, the look of all the audi workers right now is really a sight to see" he says panning to all your colleagues with jaw's dropped and hands covering there mouths as their eyes water.

Some of them are actually crying, as no-body could detect movement and the car was barely visible from the damage caused.

You tried to keep your mind open with the adrenaline, but slowly your vision blacks out.

AITA for using my moms money to buy games?

The title sounds bad, but I'm not sure how else to word it. This is also going to be a weird one as, in advance, I know the other party isn't an asshole, however I think it's a similar situation im tone and I really need some feedback on this.

I'm 22 and live with my mom and cat. I've lived with her my whole life, and continue to due to disability. My mom has 2 jobs that she mainly works on weekends, and I'm unemployed. Ever since covid it's been incredibly difficult for me to find work because it is still very much a thing despite what people want to believe, and I can't be in contact with random people physically due to immune issues and the chance of getting sick. Online jobs are apparently very hard to find (my mom has tried) and many ask for a payment beforehand. I do however get social security income that pays most of our bills/utilities, and we're also on foodstamps for groceries.

My family has never been well off. I wouldn't call us dirt poor, we've never had to go hungry, and I always had toys to play with/clothes as a kid. But my mom has had to manage funds well and we've never had a lot of money for leisure or frivolous purchases. My mom will buy herself things like some new clothes, a phone charger, roku set, etc smaller things like that when she gets her paycheck but extra expenses such as furniture have to be planned out probably weeks/months ahead of time. We also moved recently and ever since then our budget has been more difficult, the down payment really screwed with my moms expenses.

Because of our situation, I never really had games growing up. I remember we had maybe 3 big family consoles during me and my sisters whole childhood (with like 3-6 games on them each, most of which were guitar hero which my mom and sister loved to play), and I would get a new handheld for myself every few years. I never got to play the new exciting games people were always talking about, and my gaming experience has really been limited to like. Animal crossing, the sims, and cooking mama.

I played a bunch of roms as a kid so that helped, but I was always kinda sad and felt left out that I never got to experience gaming the way other people did. I really wanted to try the "classics" people talked about but didn't have any way to. People (especially as I got into my 20s and started following streamers + nintendo direct for example) would always talk about the New Thing coming out and playing it the day it dropped, all the excitement and community people had around that, but if I really wanted that kind of game, I'd have to wait a few years before getting it and trying it out, and by then no one was playing it anymore anyways.

As time went on things got a little better. Especially because of my moms new jobs, both of which she genuinely loves doing, though it's still work, we have been a bit better off. It's only been recently we started struggling more again.

Recently I've been kind of asking for things from my mom. Mostly it's steam games. I found I've gotten much more into gaming as a hobby as I've gotten older, and I have a long wishlist of games that I really want to get into, but of course have no money to myself. I should also clarify that NONE of these are those big triple A $60 titles, as I still can't ever justify paying something so expensive for one game. So sometimes lately I've been asking my mom "hey, can I get this/these games?" And use her money/card to purchase them. I don't do it constantly, or even super often, but I feel like it's becoming more often and it makes me feel really guilty.

I have done this before, around high school I started asking my mom for certain things I wanted around the house, and usually she had no problem buying them for me. This also wasn't large stuff, nothing ever over $30 and usually only up to $20. But when I'd find something I *really* wanted, especially if it was a time limited thing like merch drops from a favorite content creator, often yarn for my knitting or art supplies I wanted to try, I would ask her.

I've pretty much always felt guilty about this. I would ask for something despite my better judgement, and for the most part my mom would say yes, and that it was okay, whereas I was the one apologizing and asking if it was "really alright". She has told me she has no issues buying things for me as long as I ask her. She says the social security I get is "technichally my money", and that she wants me to be able to use it. (Obviously we don't use the actual ssi to buy random shit, but her giving me spending money is the next best thing).

Every time I've asked my mom for something like this, I've told myself that it would be the last time, that I would get my own job and own money and not mooch on my mom anymore, but both with the stress of chronic illness and depression I never seem to get around to it. I try to do dishes and keep my room clean, take care of the cat etc as ways I can help without working, but for some reason the money really weighs on me. I know that it's really my fault, I haven't even been looking for jobs and I could always take art commissions again, but somehow a mental block always stops me.

I feel like I have a bit of an impulsivity problem when it comes to spending. The money I got from my one summer job and commissions would never last long, and honestly I couldn't even tell you what I spent it on for the weeks I had it. I have issues taking money from people, but when I realized that I may not have had the stuff I wanted as a kid simply because I never asked for/communicated that I wanted it, it made me more bold to actually ask my mom for things.

I never pester my mother about this. I'll ask once and if she says no I'll be dissapointed but won't continue. Sometimes she says that we don't have the money for it then, or that I'll have to wait until xyz thing is paid for, which is always fine. I also have *never* bought anything with her money without asking first. I get pretty much all the steam games I buy on sale (usually that's what prompts me to ask about them, actually) as personally I can't justify getting games for their asking price for the experience I'm going to get.

I feel bad as I feel like I'm wasting our money, mooching off my mom and not putting in the work to have spending money myself. I also worry that sometimes when she says it's fine, it's untrue and she's really just trying to make me feel better. I also sometimes don't play the games as soon as I get them, I have a sizeable backlog of games I have gotten but haven't "got around" to playing as I was excited to get them at a low price at the time, but then haven't felt like I'm in the right mood. This also makes me feel worse because I feel like I'm not being appreciative enough of her buying for me.

So am I the asshole?

hi!! proud owner of i think 5 atp jojo chibi charms and VERY new artist alley vendor here and i was just wondering, how do you budget/manage costs for non local cons that might have high transportation costs or more expensive tables? do you usually make back what you spent on transport + table/tickets + merch production/ordering + etc at the con or is there a slight loss? this is mainly for my own reference asking someone successful so ty for answering!!!

hey! congratulations on becoming an AA vendor :,) im very honored that you've bought from me before and that you consider me a 'successful' vendor haha!

i'm really passionate when it comes to talking about AA stuff so I'll be putting my answer in the read more since it's pretty long lol!

to be honest, I'm in a very lucky position to be able to travel to conventions beyond the east coast because it can really get expensive T_T i think the most honest answer i can give you is that your first couple of cons most likely are going to be a slight loss for you income wise if you are planning on traveling for a convention - tbh, i generally don't recommend doing a convention out of your state/out of your means if you're very new to tabling. my very first conventions were in driving/public transport distance (i love you new york and new jersey!!!) so i never spent money other than the table cost and ordering product. so if you're starting out and live in a state that has local cons, id HIGHLY recommend doing local events to get experience and cutting down costs as much as you can so you can get the most out of it! if you do intend on doing out-of-state cons because your state doesn't have many small local cons, i totally get it, but again, just try to keep your costs as low as possible. here are some suggestions and things to keep in mind:

1.split costs with a friend

split the table, split hotel fees, split ubers, etc! if you have family/friends in that state, consider crashing at their place for the weekend! maybe treat them to dinner haha

2. save up funds

honestly, there's really no getting around it - you might have to get income from somewhere else besides selling merch @ cons! i worked a part-time job throughout college, did commissions/freelance, and had my store open to save up for cons.

3. remember to deduct all expenses for your business

keep in mind that table fees/travel and hotel fees/products/meals are all deductible. these are considered investments for your business and they're completely necessary for you to run said business so when it comes tax time, you'll be able to breathe a little easier haha.

4. know your limits and be cautious

unfortunately, not all cons are going to be successful or will go your way no matter how much money you pour into it. if you know a convention is going to be out of your means, you can always apply the following year. I've had plenty of cons i couldn't go to because i simply couldn't afford it at the time, but the more money you save up, the more experience you get, and the more connections you make, you'll be able to afford to go and be successful! i'd also do plenty of research about the convention (especially the attendance #s, how previous vendors feel about the con, etc) before you decide to go. 5. have fun!

even though the upfront price can be intimidating, you are still paying the price to travel, visit a city you've never been to, meet new people, fans, your friends, and make connections! not to mention the really inspiring and motivating atmosphere that artist alley can be. i hope that regardless of the money you make you take the time to enjoy the experience to the fullest and appreciate that you are sharing your awesome art with others :,)! i try to make the best out of a con even if i barely make even, and make new friends and connections because trust me, they are so meaningful ^^<3!

hello! this might be a dumb question (and I hope it makes sense lol) I'm finally financially stable enough to join the members' fanclubs, so I'm wondering- do you receive physical items in the mail aside from merch you specifically order? I've never used tenso or any proxy service so I'm nervous about that aspect, and I mainly want to join their fanclubs for the sake of having access to digital content. is it possible to register for a tenso account and use it solely to get the japanese address?

Oh don't worry, this is not a dumb question at all.

First of all, YAY for wanting to join the fan clubs, it's a great way to support the girls and you generally get a lot of bang for your buck.

When it comes to Hikaru's fan club "Helixes" you do not need a proxy service and you will not be receiving any physical items unless you actively order exclusive merch. All her content is digital so that's very convenient.

As for "Botanical Land", "Niku to Chocolate" and "FictionJunction Station", you WILL in fact receive mail on a somewhat regular basis. Initially, you will get a membership card and some sort of registration present. Then there are the newsletters which typically arrive every three months or so and various other presents that will be sent out randomly (e.g. lottery presents; basically some small but cute stuff).

Tenso will store these items for you for free and you have the option to consolidate them within the first 30 days of arrival (saves shipping cost although I will say you won't always be lucky enough to receive all your items in a 30-day window). They can store your stuff for a total of 60 days in which you can have the individual packages shipped to your address at any time. After that deadline, Tenso will simply dispose of your packages (please note that you might be charged a fee if the disposal causes Tenso any inconvenience - be sure to check out Tenso's Terms and Services for further details on the matter). I have never actually been in that position so I don't know exactly how it works...? I can imagine though that it is not something Tenso wants to happen because they obviously only profit from you if they get to actually ship out stuff to you (by charging a few fees here and there and possibly cashing in on parts of the shipping fee). So just using them for the address might not work out in the long run.

Honestly though, it would be a huge shame to have all these items be thrown away. If you pay attention to shipping schedules you can use time to your advantage. For example, Keiko's summer newsletter arrived a while back. Wakana's blu-rays arrived earlier this week (Victor Online Store and FC orders) and Wakana's summer newsletter is set to arrive this weekend. Since it is all happening within the 30-day time window (the clock starts ticking with the first arrival of an item), I can consolidate everything and have it shipped in one big package. Try to be mindful of weight though, the more you consolidate, the heavier your package will be which will of course increase the shipping fee considerably (it's not a big issue with light stuff such as BDs and newsletters though). Also, consolidation comes with a small fee as well but in the grand scheme of things it's negligible.

I am not gonna sit here and pretend all of this is super cheap. It's certainly not. Being a foreign Kala-fan sucks ass. But there ARE ways to save money and if you properly inform yourself regarding all possible fees (handling, consolidation, shipping - potentially customs, import depending on your country), there will be little to no unpleasant surprises.

Kalafina Live Report: 9+ONE @Kitakyushu - REVISITED

So, this is something I wanted to do for a long time now (almost 3 years to be exact). Back in 2017, when Kalafina was still a thing and times were good, I was lucky enough to live in Japan and able to attend various of Kalafina activities. My first proper concert was their final live of the 9+ONE tour in the city of Kitakyushu/Fukuoka prefecture, in June 2017.

My first live report was certainly different than all the others that followed, less detailed, less emotional so to say. I always wanted to update the whole thing because looking back, there were so many moments during the concert that I - for whatever reason - did not write about enough or not at all. Well, since I have been working at home for quite a while now, I feel like now is the perfect time, as this gives me an amazing reason to be lazy and productive at the same time. Here is my original live report: PART 1  /  PART 2

So, a lot of things will certainly stay the same because I just don’t remember enough of the concert, especially about the vocal performance or things the girls have said during the MCs. I will add some other details that I still remember (hopefully correctly), and describe everything a bit nicer too :)

Let’s do it! Long ass report ahead! again

Back then, I was living in Kanagawa prefecture, but I was too late for tickets of the Yokohama or Tokyo lives. I was planning to visit a friend who lived in Fukuoka city at the time and Kalafina’s Kitakyushu concert perfectly fit into my schedule. Luckily, I was able to buy a ticket via convenience store. As I was pretty late, I got a kinda bad seat in the almost very back of the upper floor.

The morning of the live I arrived in the city of Kitakyushu, which is a rather famous port city at the northern tip of Fukuoka prefecture. The historic town Kokura has a beautiful castle, which I visited as well as Moji port. (After reading Hikaru’s blog post where she said that she also went to see the castle, I was a bit disappointed that I didn’t meet her xD). There’s also TOTO Museum, a museum dedicated to the TOTO company, which is famous for inventing those high-tech toilets that Japan is so known for.

I was kind of warned beforehand that the Kalafina good’s sale would attract a ton of people, so I wanted to be there as early as possible. About two hours too early I arrived at Kitakyushu’s Harmony Cinq Soleil Hall and waited along with a handful of other people. Slowly but steadily more and more people would gather, forming an absurdly long line. Not as extreme as the 10th Anniversary good’s line, but still impressive. Luckily, I was standing in some shade, because it was so damn hot and sunny the entire weekend. When the doors finally opened, I am sure there were like 200-300 people waiting to receive those sweet sweet popcorn buckets that were sold as venue exclusive merchandise. In the end, I bought the T-shirt, the key holder, the popcorn and the clear files, but looking back I do regret not buying the notebook. I wanted the popcorn mainly because of the Kitakyushu exclusive sticker - the popcorn itself had the flavor chocolate + soda (I think?), which I remember thinking was the shittiest combo of all flavors they had. It didn’t taste as bad as I thought but I still think it was overpriced. Together with the ticket itself, I ended up spending about 100€, which I thought was a lot, especially as there were people buying the entire collection and even more... hahahaha, oh innocent, naive past me, I didn’t know what was coming to me yet.

I do love my merch though. I still wear all my Kalafina T-shirts at home, and while in Japan I had the key holder... hold my keys, making it all dirty and bent now lol The popcorn cup is decorating my shelf to this day.

Anyway, after getting my stuff, I went on to walk around, grab something to eat and even made friends with a Japanese girl, sharing our Kalafina love. Later, when people were admitted, probably around 800-900 people were there, quite a view! I saw some foreigners as well, and even made friends with a Philippine girl as well :D

While entering, staff was handing out little goodie bags, mostly with flyers and ads for other events or the obligatory concert questionnaire. However, that bag included our very own 9+ONE Lights! I took my seat which wasn’t as far from the stage as I thought, but I still would not be able to see the girls’ expressions.

When the concert finally started, a black but transparent screen was lowered (you know it from the 9+ONE DVD) and they started to play an overture version of “Samidare ga sugita koro ni”. Meanwhile we got see a collection of Kalafina’s entire discography, where each title of their songs, even in their respective font if available, was shown and merged into a white cloud, revealing our ladies.

They started with “Samidare ga sugita koro ni”. I remember it being good and nice, but I was never really fond of that song, even though it has grown on me a bit. We all clapped along and had our fun.

It continued with “misterioso”, also a song that has grown on me over time. While everyone was staying seated and enjoying themselves before, all the dudes in the arena seats jumped to their feet, being an upbeat song and stuff. I was grateful for the upper floor to have stayed seated almost the entire time, because being so far away was shitty enough and I didn’t want to spend 2 hours standing.

Anyhow, this song revealed some flaws in either the acoustics of the hall or the mixing of the sound technicians (I guess the latter?). Wakana was uncomfortably loud most of the time, drowning out the other two, but especially Hikaru - in some songs more than in others and more often than not when she wasn’t in the lead too. Some of her notes simply made me cringe. Hikaru on the other hand seemed to be feeling the exhaustion of the tour. On many occasions, she sounded tired, especially when it came to hit those high or long notes. The band didn’t help either, they also drowned out many parts of the singing... Maybe it was just this venue though and luckily, the 10th Anniversary wasn’t like this. Then again, I only attended acoustic lives or lives without band after that, so who knows how they sound when there is no DVD recording going on XD

Next was “Lacrimosa”, and this time Wakana wasn’t being as cringy as before. Poor Hikaru doing nothing for most of the time. One cool moment was that short pause after their “LA-CRI-MO-SA” part, right before the final chorus. The stage turned deep red with the girls reaching out to the audience. When you don’t know that this is coming, it’s an incredibly powerful move.

I don’t remember what they said during MC#1, other than greeting the audience and the usual “We hope you have fun” stuff. I do remember Hikaru welcoming us to the Harmony Cinq Kitakyushu Soleil Hall, by saying the entire name of the hall, and then saying something along the lines of “Thank god I didn’t trip over my tongue” (it’s a lot harder to say that name in Japanese, I give it to her lol).

They proceeded to introduce “Ashita no Keshiki”, a song that is not performed often, also because it’s a song that is mainly sung by Wakana. It was a beautiful performance, which was a little bit ruined by Hikaru. If you thought that she sounds strained and tired in the 9+ONE DVD version, well, imagine her like 5 concerts after that performance. Still great though, I came to love that song a lot.

“Hikaru no senritsu” was equally ok, but Hikaru again kind of screwed up her short “ashita wo kanadete” towards the end of the song. She probably just didn’t hit the note correctly, but to me it sounded as if she screwed up the timing, because I didn’t even her the first word or so.

With “Mirai”, Kalafina finally started to move around, so far they had stayed glued to their positions. They waved and interacted with the audience, cheering us on to cheer them on. I did enjoy the performance and the overall atmosphere, although “Mirai” belongs to my most disliked of all Kalafina songs.

In MC#2, they talked about “Ashita no Keshiki” a bit, together with their first album and how this is the first time performing in Kitakyushu (and not Fukuoka city). Since this is Wakana’s home prefecture, she proceeded to talk about her favorite Udon and Ramen restaurants (I think it was also about the restaurant chain West) and other specialties of Fukuoka.

The next song was “Oblivious”, also a song I was really looking forward to. As you know, this time Hikaru decided to sing her first lines in her high head voice (probably because she just can’t do it “regularly” anymore). I thought and still think it’s lovely, as it gives the song a much more mysterious opening and it’s also quite closer to the original to be honest. Wakana and the band drowned out Keiko for most of the time, with Hikaru and her high voice coming to the party later too. The acoustics were really weird that day...

“storia” was as usual, nothing special and not a song that really stands out to me anymore.

I was more looking forward to “Gogatsu no Mahou”, which is also a song I came to appreciate more over time. I adore the bridge section after the chorus, especially Wakana’s “habataku kotori no” and that one super high moment, so I really tried to focus on that particular part of the song. It was great!

With “consolation”, finally a darker and fiercer song made its debut and while I don’t really remember the performance itself anymore, I do remember the stage production. Basically, they packed out those lights and illuminations that they have been hiding so far and blasted us with them. Hikaru was pretty quiet though. Keiko on the hand appeared to have problems with her earpiece, and at some point she was frantically waving to the technicians backstage.

Wakana took it upon herself to dominate “To the beginning” as well, but we got some action on stage at least, since the girls stayed glued to their positions most of the timea again.

In MC#3, Keiko talked about how every live performance as well as their unique harmony is important to them (quite ironic after Wakana was actively trying to make Keiko NOT be heard lol). The following song was special in a sense that there would be NO harmony. Back then, when Kalafina received the song for the first time (or before recording, not sure), they even asked Kajiura Yuki whether this is correct or even intentional.

With “Haru wo matsu” we got our obligatory ballad. While I was never really fond of the song, I think it’s sweet and yes, their missing harmony gives it quite a refreshing vibe. Keiko sounded pretty much like in the 9+ONE DVD, but it was so strange to hear her cutesy voice live and so clearly... she sounded like an entirely different person XD Hikaru, for the first time actually, could finally shine, as we could HEAR her. She didn’t deliver as good as she probably could have, but still it was a very pretty performance.

Now, we were reaching the spot on their setlist that would differ at each venue. Before the concert, I checked out all setlists from the previous lives to see whether there were any patterns or which songs were most likely to be performed (again). It seemed like they took 4-5 songs and repeated them over the course of the tour, which is why I had my hopes high for “Hikaru furu” or “Kimi no gin no niwa”. But interestingly they chose a song they hadn’t performed yet (please correct if I’m wrong here), which was “Ring your bell”.

“Ring your bell” is very high on my list of all-time disliked Kalafina songs (I just can’t seem to escape that song...). But I was pleasantly surprised to hear that they started the song as an acoustic version, very much like the performance during their Arena Live. It stayed acoustic until after the first chorus, then the band joined too. I like this half-half version over the “normal” version, because it’s an amazing moment when you don’t expect the loud and cheerful opening of “Ring your bell” to suddenly fill the stage. The overall harmony of band and singers came together again and the acoustics were finally so much cleaner and nicer. The audience rose to their feet and even some dedicated dudes on my loser floor stood up to cheer them on. However, Wakana’s final high-pitched “ring your BELL” was incredibly cringy and breathy, one of the main reasons I hate the song so much.

Anyway, Kalafina got their break to change costumes and we got an AMAZING performance by the band that played some BGM of the anime “Kubikiri Cycle”. To this day, I don’t know what exact song they played and for the love of god, please SOMEONE TELL ME. I know it was fairly uptempo and rather dark... help pls XD

So far, the stage production was pretty much boring and simple. Other than some light effects, nothing really happened, we just had that huge curtain as background. Now, we finally got ACTION. Well, at least for the eye. They lifted the curtain and revealed those huge, impressing statues of Kalafina’s silhouettes, mostly made out of their past live outfits. I could have spent a long time checking out every part of this artwork, trying to recognize what dresses from which live they used and what not. Now that I watched the DVD, I know where Kalafina was standing, but at the time I didn’t see them AT ALL. The music played the overture and suddenly Keiko was on stage with the other two following her. To me it looked like they stepped THROUGH the middle silhouette, but turns out they were just standing in front of it - they were so far away, I couldn’t differ between them and the clothes behind them lol

Well, I think I already gave you my opinion on those new dresses... At the time, both Keiko and Wakana looked kinda cool and pretty shiny, but even though I could see jack shit from so far away, I knew that Hikaru’s outfit was a disappointment. Her fucking pants and skirt or whatever that is... XD

I was incredibly looking forward to “Märchen”, as now it became one of my all-time favorite songs. But back then I was especially amazed by the song during their release event of the single in April. I wanted to hear this live again so badly and well... I did, but it wasn’t as good as the release event. Again, Hikaru sounded tired and Keiko and Wakana were fighting about who could be louder than the band. Keiko drowned out Hikaru most of the time... During the middle section we saw their Kala-dance, which I already got to witness during the release event. However, I was pleased to see that they decided to spice things up by showing background animations. It looked like they danced in sinc with themselves, it was truly impressive and such a refreshing use of video. This, as well as the later “Magia” performance made this concert/tour truly stand out and I am glad that they could take their creativity to a new level. I wish they would have continued to do so much more later on.

So, let’s talk about “Magia”. Holy shit, what a performance. The screen from the very beginning was lowered, intro was played, forest was shown, you know it guys. In sync with their live singing, they showed this fucking amazing pre-recorded bits of Kalafina and as I didn’t see this coming, it absolutely blew my mind. It was a psychedelic wtf show with cinema feeling all over the place and for once, the acoustics were actually good. Especially the instrumental part was... I don’t know what it was, but HOLY. SHIT. Truly guys, it was so cool. If there ever was an interview on that particurly performance I would love to read it to how Kalafina thought about this one and how the creation process went. When Keiko stepped in front of the screen it just added to her overall cool demeanor. When the screen was lifted again, we got a little sneak peak of the microphone stands in back.

Which were of course used for “Kyrie”. The DVD version is truly one of my favorite performances of that song and in Kitakyushu it was pretty cool too, especially with their small but effective arm movements. Keiko’s final long-ass “kyrie” was amazing and fairly unexpected from my side. Also some fat light show and big bass sounds, which I am always appreciating.

Next up was “heavenly blue” and here they tried to interact with the crowd once more. I like this song mostly for the kajiurago bridge and I always focus especially on Wakana’s super high “so na” (or whatever), while Keiko is going low at the same time. Wakana was too loud again though, but by now their overall performance and acoustics improved quite a lot.

“One Light” once again activated the crowd, especially Hikaru went crazy here. The atmosphere was amazing and you could just feel that everyone was fired up, singing along and having fun. Everyone just screamed when Hikaru sang “boku wa yukeru”, so cool.

MC#4 was about band introduction. Konno Hitoshi and Sakurada weren’t present if I remember correctly, which was a shame... but then again, I wouldn’t know the difference lol

The last song of the block was their new single at the time, “Into the world”. It was really beautiful, Hikaru finally sang more clearly. A good performance, very similar to the ones I would see from that point on.

We got a little break again, as Kalafina traditionally fake-ended the concert. While the audience was clapping, it took about 5 minutes or so for them to return. But first, the screen was lowered again, and some text, together with the intro for “Ongaku” finally told us to switch on our 9+ONE Lights. Everyone did so and boy, what a sight! Even from so far in the back, the lights in the dark hall looked so great! While of course hundreds and hundreds of people were present, you don’t really get a sense of that sheer number when you focus on the stage the entire time. I looked around and with so many lights illuminating the hall, you truly get a feeling of how many people actually are here with you.

Kalafina returned with their plain, but nevertheless cool black outfits, wearing the little lights themselves and standing on a mini-stage. The song played out as usual, but this time, as Konno Hitoshi wasn’t present and the other violin guy played his solo different than usual. Don’t ask me how it differed, I really don’t remember, but I liked that version a lot more. We got a new cool background too.

MC#5 was about Hikaru and her beloved sales corner, where she mainly introduced the Kalafina produced goods like Keiko’s pink dumbbell and her bath salt (I think). She talked about the 9+ONE Lights and that they do not produce new lights for each concert, but re-use them every time. That was supposed to increase to sense of unity and connection between them and the fans as well as among the fans themselves, “carrying the fire of every fan and concert to the next” or something like this. As Kalafina had upcoming concerts in Taiwan and Hong Kong, Hikaru said that they would bring the lights to international fans too, so “don’t take them home!”. Well... I guess my ten years of studying Japanese at this point must have failed me in that particular instance because I truly don’t know what she said or meant. I unfortunately ended up taking the ring home. #guiltybutnotguilty #sue me

I think this is also where they talked about the big silhouettes we have seen in the earlier block and that they used dresses from previous performances to decorate them. They then turned around, facing the wall and imitated the poses of the silhouettes - it was super funny and crowd laughed and cheered. I think they lifted the screen of this stained glass pattern to show the silhouettes for direct comparison. (Correct me if I am wrong, but I think they cut out this conversation from the DVD? Not sure, too lazy to check).

We sadly arrived the final song of the setlist, which again should differ at each venue. What song would it be? I hoped for songs like “sprinter” or “Yume no daichi”, as those were among the songs they had already performed during the tour.

Well, back then, they had announced their new single “Hyakka Ryouran”, but it wasn’t released yet (I think we only knew some bits of the chorus at the time). Funnily, I talked about that with the girls I had met prior to admittance, something like “Hey, wouldn’t it be cool if Kalafina performed Hyakka Ryouran as surprise encore?”. I mean, they were no strangers to performing songs that haven’t been officially released yet, see “Into the World” during the Arena Live. But, you know... I thought that would be unlikely, because why should they?

BUT NOT THEY ACTUALLY DID IT! Keiko was like: “Ah, which song will be the final song... Well, how about our new single?”, and the crowd LOST IT. I lost it too XD Seriously, no one could handle that. Anyway, now that I know the full version by heart, it’s hard to describe how I felt back then. Listening to a song for the first time is always an experience, but it makes it hard to remember when you can’t listen to it again and again. I tried to focus on every aspect of the song, and remember it as being “dark”, due to Keiko’s deep intro, “fast” and “rock-like”, fitting into the samurai setting of the anime with its flute elements. I still couldn’t believe my luck though and afterwards, the crowd cheered and cheered.

Now the concert should have been over, but instead they entered MC#6. They talked about the first sing of the night “Samidare ga sugita koro ni”. Apparently, they pretty much have never performed this one live, except once during a fanclub-only event. For this tour they wanted to sing this song “for everyone”, as it is such a bright and warm piece.

So, for whatever reason, Kalafina decided to perform “Samidare ga sugita koro ni” AGAIN. However, this time they emphazised that bright feeling of connected hearts and unity by making us turn on our One Lights and wave along with the rhythm. Everyone loudly sang with them, especially during the “lalala” part towards the end. It was so much fun to listen to Kalafina, to the audience around me and singing along too, all while watching this amazing light show that we were creating ourselves. It was even better and much more carefree than the first performance. Still can’t believe my luck that of all venues of the 9+ONE tour, I got to attend to most unique one.

After that, the band was introduced again, they all held hands and thanked the audience for coming. But just before they wanted to bow, Wakana suddenly sobbed (so loud that I actually heard it lol), trying to wipe away tears. Being in her home prefecture, I figured she was just so overwhelmed by her emotions. Each of the three said some final words and with that the concert and the domestic 9+ONE tour ended.

I proceeded to take photos of the stage, as we were still able to see the big silhouettes. However, staff members appeared and told everyone to stop taking pictures and get the fuck out, probably to stop people from “spoiling” the concert before the DVD release or copyright or whatever. Well, thankfully I already took like 3 photos and managed to sneakily take another one, in order to have a close shot of each silhouette (which is why the third photo of Wakana’s statue is not a close-up like the other too). I left the building, returned to Fukuoka city and 2 days later back to Kanagawa.

Despite the sound issues, it was truly a great live experience. 9+ONE would be, along with the 10th Anni, my only “real” Kalafina concert experience, as all the other concerts I attended would either be acoustic or without live band. I am so thankful that I managed to seize the opportunity and attend this live, especially in Wakana’s home. Writing this report again made me remember all those feelings I had back then, now they make me both happy and sad.

CHAPTER TWENTY FIVE:

The week was long. Harry was required to fly to LA Monday night for a few meetings with his team for an update on his new album and to discuss details of his performance in NYC the following weekend while Elizabeth stayed home to work. The time difference made it a bit difficult to communicate, but they still made it work, making sure to call each other morning and night and sending occasional update texts throughout the day for the other to wake up to. This was the first time since they began dating that he had introduced her as his girlfriend to a group of people. They hadn’t been in a position where that needed to be said to anyone other than Claudia, the stylist. She did her best to greet everyone kindly with smiles before Jeffrey had pulled up a vacant chair beside Harry.

She hadn’t been expecting to be a part of his meeting, but as they discussed details of his performance in NYC the following weekend, his team found themselves asking Elizabeth for her input in certain areas surrounding the event. Her experience in event work and social media marketing seemed useful as she suggested placement of cameras, sectioning of the VIP areas, merch and last minute event details that would need to be rushed. 

The meeting eventually turned into casual conversation and it neared dinner time before most of the crew had packed up and left, saying their goodbyes to Harry and Jeffrey and giving Elizabeth hugs and handshakes, telling her that it was wonderful to meet her, a couple even exchanging numbers with her. Jeffrey walked them out and when he returned he threw his hands in the air, astounded with Elizabeth.

“You are a dream!” Jeffrey exclaimed.

Elizabeth smiled looking between him and her boyfriend, both sharing similar expressions, “What did I do?”

“Your campaign and event ideas were incredible and you completely won over our investors!” Jeffrey said, pulling her into an excited hug, “Is there anything you can’t do? Keep it up and we’ll just have to hire you for our team!”

Elizabeth laughed when he pulled away, “Sorry, I don’t mix business with pleasure,” she winked at Harry before turning back to Jeffrey, “but I don’t mind helping out with some ideas every now and then. Right now, though, I’m starved. Are we ready to eat?”

“Yeah, I’ve got stuff to make a roast at home,” Harry informed her, “Jeffrey, would you like to join us?”

“No, that’s alright, mate. I’m gonna relax here. Thanks, though. I’ll see you both tomorrow morning.”

They said their goodbyes and headed down towards a private lot where Harry had parked. As soon as they got to his car, Harry pulled her in for a long kiss. He smiled at her when they pulled away, “I missed you.” He said, still holding her close.

“I missed you, too,” she grinned, stomach growling, “but I’m also very close to being hangry.”

He chuckled, opening her car door for her, “You’re amazing, you know that?”

She smiled, feeling humbled, “I’m just being myself.”

“I know,” he nodded, looking at her, “That’s why you’re amazing. You don’t have to pretend to be kind and smart, you just are. And I’m so lucky to have you.”

They laughed, driving the rest of the way to Harry’s house, catching up and holding hands. Elizabeth took her small duffel bag up to Harry’s room when they got in as Harry started pulling ingredients out to make their roast. When she joined him, they washed their hands and started prepwork. Elizabeth massaged the dry rub onto the turkey while Harry seasoned and splashed the vegetables in olive oil, explaining the order of events in which to get ready for the Fashion Show the following evening. 

She felt her palms start to sweat and her head started to spin, nerves settling in for the millionth time over the thought of their relationship being exposed tomorrow. Normally, Elizabeth considered herself to be a very confident, easy going person. Especially when it came to relationships. But this one felt different. She had wanted to be with Harry since practically the day they first met over twelve years ago. There wasn’t a single week since that she hadn’t thought of him. Now that it had finally happened, after letting her guard down, it felt like she had a lot to lose by exposing it to the ‘elements’ of the public eye. 

People can be ruthless, and as Anne and a few others had explained to her before, the stress and ramifications of having a relationship with a celebrity under the watchful eye of thousands can be a means to an end. They were in such a good place, and the thought of jeopardizing that scared her. There’s no turning back the second they ‘out’ themselves as a couple. Any move they make in their relationship would be closely monitored. What if, a week from now, Harry decided he didn’t want to be with her anymore? That he had enough? How embarrassing would it be to have to go through a breakup in front of thousands of people?

Harry must have noticed how quiet she had gotten as she slid the turkey in the oven, because he stopped what he was doing and turned to her, quietly asking, “Are you still nervous about tomorrow?”

Elizabeth sighed, standing up straight, “Yeah, you’re not?”

“No,” he shook his head, “Why would I be?”

She chuckled, washing her hands again, “Harry, you won’t even let me listen to the other two songs you wrote about me. That’s too much of a commitment for you, but shouting out to the world that you’re in a relationship isn’t?”

“I never said it was too much of a commitment to let you listen to the songs, it’s just…they’re really personal.”

“And our relationship isn’t?” she tried her best not to scoff, “They’re about me. Would that not be considered personal for me, either? I don’t get how you feel so comfortable showing me off to the world, but not feel comfortable letting me listen to songs that will be on your next album. Once they’re released, they’re out there forever, but you could easily dump me tomorrow.”

“I’m not going to dump you tomorrow,” Harry said, “I’m certain about us. I just haven’t let you listen to the songs because the one isn’t ready yet, and the other is….deep.”

“They’re not, but....” he twisted his hands around and looked at his feet in contemplation.

Elizabeth watched as he disappeared, confused, looking over at the sheet of chopped and seasoned veggies that he had left on the counter. She tossed them a bit and placed them in the oven alongside the turkey and set the timer just as Harry trekked back in, carrying his guitar around his shoulder, hanging on his back.

“What are you doing?” She looked at him, smiling amusedly.

He walked over to her, his expression serious, lifting her onto the counter. She yelped, startled from his action as he fixed his guitar in front of him. “I won’t let you listen to the unfinished song, yet. But if you want to hear the other one, I’ll play it for you. Despite it being April 30th and I’m only just now getting around to posting this here on Tumblr, I have not actually forgotten about May’s merch club design! On the contrary, I’d been working on it on-and-off the entire month of April, but things have only gotten more busy for me since March, and sadly all of my side projects have had to take a bit of a backseat. I personally associate the month of May with Memorial Day weekend and all of the outdoor BBQ fun times related to it; alas, it seems we’ll just have to live vicariously through Ignis and Kenny this year. ಥ‿ಥ

Since I was late wrapping up the design, it also means I’ll be late delivering the final products, unfortunately. The order for all the merch has been placed, but I suspect it won’t arrive at my house until the week of May 10th. I don’t generally like to make my products available until I have them in hand to inspect them, but I’m going to take a chance this month and say that orders for May’s merch club will go live on Saturday, May 9th at 1:00pm PST. It’ll likely take a few extra days for everyone’s merch to arrive, but hopefully no one will have to wait too terribly long for their stuff.

I want to thank everyone who has stuck with me through five months of this crazy merch club, and also to apologize for the lack of content both here and on Twitter (where I’m marginally more active). It’s not for lack of motivation, nor is it because my love for FFXV has waned (I am still just as thirsty for Ignis as I was the day I began my FFXV journey); it mainly has to do with a very cool but very time consuming professional project I’ve been working on since last September (and will likely be working on through the end of the year). I do have a piece in the upcoming @lostinwars-zine​, so I look forward to working on that and eventually sharing it with you all. Another thing that I’ve been thinking about doing is participating in Extra Life this year, which is an event in November where gamers come together to play video games for 24 hours for charity. If I recall correctly, FFXV takes about 24 hours to play through the main quest... :3

Oho. Ohohohohoho. No, I HAVENT been asked about them yet. Will I take this opportunity to explain, in great detail, every single one of them tho?

Ok, so let’s start by getting the fairly popular ones out of the way:

1) Bakugou likes cooking and uses it as a way to destress. 2) He fucking hates the cold/winter in general3) He’s touch-starved as FUCK4) You can pry demisexual!Bakugou out of my cold, dead hands5) Because of the MASSIVE FUCKING EXPLOSIONS LITERALLY AN ARMS LENGTH FROM HIS EAR, boi is going deaf and as a result is learning JSL6) Boi gets nightmares And now, on to my more personal ones. • He and Camie are friends (well, him and the entire group who took the supplementary lessons are all friends, lbr) and he’d rather die than admit it• He gets up scary early in the morning, just to have some peace and quiet to himself. Baku does things like review his notes, go for a morning jog, and more recently he makes breakfast for the whole class on weekends• His closet in his parents’ house is far more diverse than the closet he has at UA. Part of it is that there’s just not enough room for it all, but he doesn’t see the need for a lot of fancy clothes taking up space when he’s only gonna need the workout gear and his lazy clothes. • In a similar vein, he’s got great fashion sense and Kirishima in particular makes him h u r t with his Crocs and his stupid bright patterned shirts and everything. He doesn’t say anything at first (cuz he has a reputation to maintain) but when he does, he says it LOUDLY. • Bakugou likes to keep his space organized. His room at his house has an All Might merch collection to rival Midoriya’s, but he brought almost none of it to UA. (The exception is his favorite All Might figurine, he’s a little superstitious about it and thinks it brings him luck.) His room is just about as normal-looking as Ojirou’s. For the first semester of dorm life, that is. • The next two years see an increase in little knickknacks and personal shit lying around: stuff from the Bakusquad, a framed photo of him and Kirishima hiking (taken by Masaru), scorch marks from when he wakes himself up from the nightmares, stuff like that. • He hates that Kaminari has a higher grade in English than he does• If he doesn’t understand an emotion or how to describe/quantify it, he completely avoids talking/thinking/wondering about it. Complete denial. Bakubitch has the mindset that “if I ignore the thing that doesn’t fit it’ll either go away or solve itself and I can keep focusing on being number one”. It’s a really, REALLY unhealthy mindset. Someone get him a therapist. • He texts with perfect grammar/punctuation• Thanks to Kaminari and Camie, he becomes fluent in Vine• Bakugou actually really likes kids! He just doesn’t exactly know how to relate to them (cuz he’s an 84-year-old man in a 16-year-old’s body lmaooo), but he legitimately wants to take care of them the best he knows how. • He’s one of those organized nerds with playlists to go with every single subject. (I’m actually working on making a general studying playlist for him to go along with Grumpy Cat, can’t remember if I said it here or not.) Likewise, he’s got certain highlighters for each subject (like yellow for English, pink for math, purple for hero history, etc. etc.) and his notes are #Aesthetic. Even Iida is jealous. • His music taste in general isn’t very varied though; mainly rock variations and the studying stuff (I’m making a general Bakugou playlist as well, I’ll link it eventually)• Yes he listens to MCR. Yes he’s unashamed of it. Yes he’ll blow your face off if you try and laugh at him for it. He also likes Green Day and LADYBABY. • Halfway through second year, he finally fucking apologizes to Midoriya for bullying him mercilessly for like ten goddamn years. That’s not a theory, or a headcanon, that’s a deadline. Horikoshi you have until summer of their second year for you to make Bakubitch apologize for telling Mido to kill himself. Do it, coward. • Speaking of middle school, Baku runs into his henchmen from then once when he’s out with the squad. They get pissy that he’s ““replaced”” them so easily, the squad leaps to his defense without missing a beat, Bakugou gets choked up and makes them all dinner with his characteristic bad grace. It’s adorable (also a oneshot I’ve been meaning to write for a while now lmaooo, might post it as a drabble later). • He interns with Miruko!!! Cuz that’s my whole ass wIFE right there and I want to see her interact with my son, also cuz they have really similar personalities and what with her being the number 5 hero, Bakugou has a lot he can learn from her. okay, this needs to be quick because it’s late and I have to wake up tomorrow and do WORK so you know. today was pretty good. I woke up to Jess being like “Rachel!!” and then once I was awake she asked if my alarm had gone off. I grabbed my phone and saw it was 8:41 am, at which point I was like wtf because I know I had set my alarm for 8:15. So I open my phone and go to the alarm and it’s sitting there with the alarm still on for 8:15 am....no idea what happened there. so we were running a tad late, but wanted to make sure we got to breakfast which ended at 10 so we threw clothes on fast and went down to get breakfast, then came back to the room and did makeup and all that good shit before taking an uber to the con. We met up with our friend and figured out what we were doing before going to Tom Wilson’s line. You probably don’t know that name offhand, but he’s most well known for playing Biff in the Back to the Future movies, the majority of the main cast of which was at the con, but more recently was seen as Hank Heywood, Nate’s dad, on Legends, so of course we wanted to see him. We ended up just doing a selfie with him because it alone was $60 and an autograph was even more. He was super funny and very nice, very congenial and just all around lovely to meet. We told him how sad we were when he got killed off on Legends and how since we’d seen the episodes early we knew he was actually a good guy and had to hold it in for weeks during the hiatus when everyone thought he was evil and we were just like no!! he’s good he just wants to build his son a theme park!!! lol. but that was pretty nice. Once we finished up there we decided to get food and I got another poke bowl because I’d enjoyed it yesterday and my acid reflux was really bad last night so I was trying to avoid the other options that were mainly fried or other things that could set it off. It was once again very good so I was pleased. After that we spent a while wandering the merch floor searching for some specific KPop merch, including a tiny koala plushie (because the BTS members all have “animals” that they’re associated with or some weird shit like that) which I’d seen yesterday and decided I wanted. We went to artist’s alley to hunt down a KPop print Jess had seen yesterday and wanted, and we found it fairly easily which was nice. After that we just found a wall and sat down for a bit before Jess and our friend went to do their photo op with Stephen Amell, at which point I went to hunt down the TWLOHA booth, I hadn’t realized they would be there until I searched “megacon” in my email inbox and their emails popped up, so I wanted to say hi to them and we chatted for a bit, telling them some of the stuff the UChapter I founded did and has done since I left so that was pretty cool. After that I had decided I wanted to get a new lanyard, because the one I’d been using was from HVFF and we don’t like them anymore lol. I kinda wanted a Captain Marvel one but I couldn’t find one, so I ended up going for a Wonder Woman one which is also a great option so I was pleased. Once I finished that I went back to where we were sitting to meet back up with them, and then we ended up saying goodbyes and ubering to the airport. We got through security easily enough, just the metal detector this time which is always nice lol. Our flight had ended up getting delayed a bit because of “thunderstorms” though it was unclear where exactly those storms were because of course it was a beautiful sunny day at the time in Florida but I know they can switch to a downpour in the span of minutes, so I wasn’t sure if they were trying to predict something here. We were initially supposed to take off at 5:55, and it ended up getting pushed to 7:06. The seating by the gate was pretty limited, so we ended up going to one of their little food court areas that had a smoothie and yogurt place and Jess got a smoothie and I got a yogurt shake, and we ended up killing some time there before deciding to go to the Ruby Tuesday’s they had there to actually get some dinner food. I ended up just going with their salad bar and a cup of soup because my acid reflux was being annoying again, and I ended up not actually finishing either but I was full so it wasn’t a big deal. We finished up there and then went to the gate which was of course swamped with people, and after about 10 minutes or so they started boarding. I was very excited that we were only in zone 3 out of 4 for boarding, because on the way there we were flying American and if you only get their cheapest tickets it makes you board in the last group which is like, group 9, even when there’s nobody actually in groups like 6-8, lol. So we got on the plane and ended up waiting a little bit to actually take off but not too bad, I went back to reading my court cases and briefs with the stopwatch recording my time, I ended up getting 1.8 hours, which comes out to like $50 by the hourly rate so I felt accomplished lol. The issue with getting paid like this is gonna be I have to take my own money out for taxes, it’s not already done, so it’s gonna end up being less money than it seems haha but oh well. We ended up landing around 9:15 Chicago time, getting off the plane seemed to take forever but eventually we made it, and of course like the dumbasses we are we took the escalator down to baggage claim like we always do even though we never have checked bags and we have to go back up for the uber spot lol and yet we do it every time. So after a bathroom run we went back up and made our way to the uber door, which had like, 20 people crowded around it waiting for them and even more outside. It took like 10 minutes for our uber to actually get there, but once it did it was a smooth ride home. KItty was of course very happy to see me, I had forgotten to text my roommate that I was going away for the weekend lol but she saw my pill box cartridges for the weekend were gone so she figured it out, and since I had filled up kitty’s food all the way right before I left she was fine. I showered and then ended up talking to my roommate for a bit about game of thrones and other tv shows and the general shitshow the world is right now lol so that’s always fun. Once we said goodnight I came into my room and then wasted time on my computer before actually starting to write this, and now I’m here. I’m glad I can post from my laptop again, doing it on mobile is so annoying, I can’t believe I used to always do it like that lol. Anyway. gonna try to get some work done tomorrow so I don’t want to sleep in too late, so I’m gonna head to bed now. Goodnight dearies. Hope your Monday doesn’t suck.

Another fun fact, last semester I took Korean as an additional course because japanese diditn fit my schedule dhhddhdh OKAY STH HAPPENED I'VE BEEN MEANING TO ORDER STH FROM KOREA AND THE SITE IS IN KOREAN, and I have a friend who just went to Korea to study but he also doesn't know korean, we made a deal that after he learns a bit he would help me but now I just cannot do-❄️

Sam Palmer Sam is a UK-based comic colourist, artist and animator. A member of the online Transformer fandom for many many years, he discovered a talent for comic colouring while studying his degree in 2D digital animation, and has since contributed to many Transformers fan endeavours, including Transformers: Mosaic and Transformers: The Lost Seasons and has worked professionally on Titan's Transformers: Prime comic, Fub Pub's Transformers Collectors Club comics and on various projects for Botcon and Joecon. Outside of Transformers he's worked on properties such as GI Joe, Power Rangers and Geek Girl as well as the critically acclaimed graphic novel Video Nasty. He'll be doing sketches and selling prints all weekend.
