Ahhh!!! I'm so, so pleased to reveal the cover for my upcoming romance comic, Please Be My Star!! Out Sept 3rd!!
In my romantic YA reimagining of Phantom of the Opera, Erika, haunted by her own loneliness, pursues her obsessive crush on Christian, the cutest boy in her theater class.
This is my take on the "ugly duckling" romance told through the lens of a queer person obsessed with cute boys & dressed in the Phantom's clothes. My entire heart is in this comic, and I'm really excited for you to read it.
Preorders should now be available at your local bookstore & major retailers 💚

Hi, it’s me, the Anon! The fic my friend told me about is your “Mirage of the Opera.” We were discussing how interesting for the characters to be gender swapped and how that would affect the story. I had only read one version years ago I really liked (the author hasn’t updated in as many years, sadly) and my friend told me about MotO.
Oh, yay! I was hoping that was the fic that lead you to me! So, Anon, I have some good news and some bad news.
The bad news is that MotO will not be continued in its current state. It was my first fanfic for Phantom, and its not a quality I am currently happy with. On AO3 I will eventually orphan the fic, and may eventually delete it (still undecided).
The GOOD news, is that I'm plotting a rewrite of it! I'll be taking all constructive feedback I've received over the years, as well as my more devolved understanding of the original story, to shape a female Phantom story that might be able to stand on its own as an "adaptation" of sorts.
Erika has been my muse since the conception of MotO, but Christian and Rachel are my darlings as well and they deserve more love from me. I'm toying with the idea of inserting the Persian into the re-write, but I may not -- I would be far too tempted to insert Pharoga in there, for I am trash for it. XD

C3E52 - reaction
Things I know from taking a peek at the stream last night:  it’s just group 4, and we got Aabria and Christian as guests.
Ah SNOW BACKGROUND SNOW BACKGROUND I’m a little disappointed it didn’t get heavier, I really can’t wait to see a thunderstorm or blizzard background. They might not actually have it programmed because it could be too distracting, but I WANT IT.
I wonder how recently they filmed this after episode 51?  Laura’s voice is mostly back, but there’s still a definite huskiness to it, which makes me think it’s only been maybe one to two days.
I love that they don’t immediately attack because they assume it’s the guest players coming in, get fucked, and then get very excited when the guests come!  Though at this point I’m a little tired by the exaggerated surprise.  Unless they knew that there were guests but not who it was going to be, which is a possibility?  But one would think that they are aware of who they’re bringing in ahead of time.
Super stoked for Aabria, and ready to give Christian a go.  This does actually make me feel a bit better about Christian though?  Super controversial statement, but when he was first brought it to be the moderator for one of their panels, it felt super corporate decision.  It came more from the fact that when they were promoting him, his acting credits were mentioned, which they haven’t really done for other guests and such, so it felt more like ‘hey prominent currently popular actor of color’ rather than their typical process of bringing in friends. However, since having had Christian in the Nordverse oneshot and bringing him in here really does make it feel that there is the genuine friendship (at least at the level that they use for guest ‘requirements’) rather than just using a currently popular actor for status.
(Sidenote, Aabria with blue hair is fucking GORGEOUS.)
Aabria deliberately coming for Travis’s throat is AMAZING.  GET IT!  (also I’m stoked because Chetney backstory!!!)
I’m a little mixed on Christian’s PC though…. I always get a little iffy when a guest PC comes in with main focus on something that the main PC had going for them specifically.  I was a bit iffy with Erika coming in as someone from the Fey Realm when that was very much Ashley’s thing, a bit iffy with Christian coming in as an aeormaton when that’s Sam’s thing.  Even in C2, I was a bit iffy with Twiggy coming in to do arcane trickster rogue aka Nott’s thing, and Reani coming in to do Yasha’s thing of celestial when Ashley wasn’t even there.  NOW – credit where credit due, I enjoyed all those guest PCs, so I’m sure I’ll enjoy this one as well!  It always just takes a bit of adjusting.   (C1 actually avoided it for the most part except for Lionel, which Travis ran some amazing RP with, actually making it a thing ingame.)
I love Sam joking that Laura’s the main character, but I just KNOW that people who aren’t vibing with the campaign are going to think he’s being serious and use it as an opportunity to tear Laura down.  THE CAST IS AWARE OF INTERNET BULLSHIT!  Remember all the “thanks, Keyleth” comments?  THIS IS THE SAME THING.  All their talk about the show being scripted and that they have to pay for the writers?  SAME THING.
Interesting that Deanna and FRIDA are also pretty anti-gods.  It’s such a change from C1 and C2 attitudes!  (also I’m no longer mixed on FRIDA, love them!  Though not a huge fan of the guest PC being the one to remark on Imogen’s arms, as they only met her 8-9 hours ago.)  I wonder if this is something that Matt maybe nudged them towards, or if this was a decision they made by watching the campaign.  I really wonder if we’ll get also anti-gods PCs with the next group, it would be interesting to have something the opposite!  (though if we are actually near the Hishari, who knows??)
Genuinely surprised that the trip to Uthodurn takes two and a half days.  In EXU Calamity, it made it seem like the Apogee Solstice was a single day thing, maybe even only a 12 hours thing.  Here, the solstice seems like it’s going to be much more spread out, considering there’s already been a week of the leylines appearing before hand.
This may just be my laptop, but is anyone else having bad sound balance this episode?  I have subtitles on to be able to catch some things when needed, but I’m having to rely on them a LOT this episode!  Especially when Christian or Aabria are quieter.
Ruidus stuck in one place with reilora pouring from both directions.  Cool cool cool cool cool cool cool
AAA PVP WITH A WEREWOLF!!!  I was so entranced by the fight that I completely disregarded the fact that Chetney BIT FRIDA until Matt did the con save!  And FRIDA FAILED!!!  WHAT.
This reaction was the first in a while where I typed along for C3, rather than doing wrap up thoughts at the end.  Either way!  Had a blast!!  And I am SO glad that we get an extra long 4SD next week!  I do hope they bring everyone one for it, I’ll be a little disappointed if it’s only the normal four.

what's the weirdest phantom of the opera fact you know?
uhhh hm....
I have several that I'd count as "weird" i guess?
Or at least neat
-The guy who voiced Gaston in the animated film Beauty and the Beast played the Phantom in a version that isn't the version we know, but a version that was made by a different person, it's a little more tragic and the phantom has a dad in that one. I believe it ended up getting a movie adaptation in a way, the Charles Dance version if memory serves right. this version has its own flaws, of course. This one was overshadowed IMMENSELY by the one we all know playing on broadway now.
-There’s another Phantom of the Opera musical that came out before the one we all know now and i always get it mixed up with the one i just mentioned previously cuz i’m a dumbass that can’t keep them apart. This one was done by Ken Hill and there’s a full soundtrack for it on youtube!
-There's a version of the title song Phantom of the Opera that's a techno remix done by eurodance project called Harajuku
-The Dario Argento version of Phantom of the Opera is, to my knowledge, the only one where the phantom doesn't have a mask or even a facial disfigurement, really
-Love Never Dies is based loosely of Phantom of Manhattan, the phantom fan sequel where we find out Christine and Erik had a kid and we know this cuz Raoul can't have kids... Because he had his dick shot off on accident when he was a child. No, I'm not making that up, as weird as it sounds.
-The 1989 phantom of the opera with robert englund has him sewing human skin on his face for a "mask" because of a faustian curse. I don't think that's a weird fact but someone who isn't like... super obsessed with everything involving phantom of the opera might not know about that movie. I like it, I think it's pretty good tbh
-There was an ice dance show for phantom of the opera, using original music that I genuinely like and listen to on occasion, but I never see anyone talk about it.
-One of my favorite things to ever come from the phantom musical is a very old music video version of phantom of the opera with the original christine(sarah brightman) and someone who is not the original phantom(steve harley, he's more known for being the frontman to a group called Cockney Rebel. He was supposed to play the phantom in west end but got replaced by michael crawford who i just wanna say is my favorite version his voice is very soothing to me), and it's very, very 80s. She's dressed like cleopatra or something at one point, raoul is there with his big hair, the phantom's mask looks fantastically different from just about any i've seen, and there's a big snake at one point and it ends with the phantom knocking the chandelier down clearly to kill raoul cuz it falls straight down where he's sitting. my mom had this music video on a vhs tape and i watched it so much as a little 3-5 year old sinnifer.
++this is more of a fact about me than the phantom of the opera itself although it's an important part of this, me and some friends made a gender swapped version of the phantom where erik was erika, christine was christian, raoul was like... rachel or something i don't remember, and erika had an original character we made up follow her around named minion. christian and erika were together and i think raoul's character swap was the real villain? it was cringey and if i ever find anything about it i'll show yall but i'm pretty sure i've thrown just about all of that away out of embarrassment.
++JUST REMEMBERED ANOTHER ONE BUT: ok so there was this thing forever ago where people were making their own versions of darkiplier cuz he didn’t have a canon form and someone, i wish i could remember who, made one based off the phantom, and there was an event on tumblr called like darkiplier prom or something and they drew me dancing with their darkiplier oc. I still have the picture cuz i was so excited and saved it. I’m not posting it cuz I can’t properly credit them but ahhhhh it was so cool i thought i was gonna die.

what your favorite musical says about you because i saw a really inaccurate one of these on tiktok and now of course i have to make one
this is way too long and these are so very random so do not take offense none is meant
hamilton: you had a really good or really bad middle school experience and use this musical and the hype around it to either cope or transport yourself back to those days. i want to apologize for the shit you get from other musical fans because you should be able to like what you like. oh also you really like historical fiction and ya novels.
beetlejuice: you really like alternative music but also really specific indie songs and you don’t have a good relationship with your parents and/or you’re on the cusp of a transitional phase in your life. you use fanfiction as escapism and you have really close bonds with a few people rather than a ton of friends who you’re sort of friends with.
six: yes i have a six tumblr. yes that probably informs this response. you have one really good friend who’s also into six and the two of you scream the lyrics and infuriate all of your other friends who don’t get it. you LOVE found family dynamics in media. you’re either attracted to all of the queens or you want them to be your best friends. you had a pet rock in elementary school.
hadestown: you have a record player or you want one. you’re really good at one really niche style of art and everyone’s always impressed when you mention you can do it. your style ranges from ‘medieval peasant’ to ‘lesbian in a ‘90s movie’. you got into the soundtrack with ‘wait for me’ but get sad when it’s the only song anyone knows off of the album. you own at least three vintage pieces of jewelry.
mean girls: you own way too many pairs of sunglasses. you have watched erika henningsen’s broadway.com vlog so many times you’ve memorized it and know all of taylor’s words of the week. you had a really terrible middle school experience but high school was better and you’re really obsessed with christmas. one time you went to new york and said that you were going to move there but as you’ve grown up you’re very against that idea.
dear evan hansen: honey, are you okay? you need someone to constantly remind you to stay hydrated and you’ve converted your closet into a cry space. you said you weren’t gonna download tiktok and then you did and now you spend approximately 113% of your day scrolling through your for you page. you have all of ben platt’s albums downloaded and you also really like ajr. someone will come into your life who loves you, i promise.
wicked: wicked was the first musical you ever saw and your mind was blown so explosively that it forever changed your dna. you hope that one day you will wake up and become idina menzel. you know all the words to every song but you don’t brag about it. you feel like no other musical can really come close to being as game-changing as wicked was, but you also aren’t a gatekeeper.
waitress: you want to be jessie mueller so badly it physically pains you. you were a very gifted child but the education system saw that and then put so much pressure on you that it drummed all the motivation out of your soul. you played ukulele all the fuckin time when you were younger and now that you’re in quarantine you’ve hauled it out again but you only know how to play riptide. ‘she used to be mine’ makes you ugly cry and you love watching all the different versions.
beautiful: the carole king musical: you are also an immense jessie mueller stan and/or abby mueller stan because you probably wouldn’t have found this musical otherwise. you really like to write and you have one good friend who writes with you. you have a hard time advocating for yourself, and you feel like a loner even in large groups. you’re still not sick of carole king’s music after forever of listening to it over and over again.
falsettos: you want to go into politics or law and your parents are strict but loving. anytime anyone brings up chess you want to cry. you are constantly singing andrew rannells’ praises and you love christian borle as a dramatic actor. your crush is in some form of youth government and he’s a skinny white boy. for some reason, you like simplistic interior design, but you couldn’t explain why if anyone asked you.
anything goes: you’re a sutton foster lovebot or you loved american history in school OR you’re the leader of the costuming department at your school. you used to like thoroughly modern millie.
again, take these with a grain of salt

Arguments (Jason Whittaker x OC)
Vanessa finds out about Erika Clark's incident in the Room of Consequence, which rubs her the wrong way. AKA neither Jason & Vanessa are entirely right nor entirely wrong and have conflict like any normal adult has.
The radio blared a chipper little pop tune as Vanessa cleaned the glasses to be used for the next patron. She noticed one of her mother's students, Ericka Clark, sitting at the counter looking very forlorn.
"Hn? What's wrong?"
"Oh nothing," said Erika. "It's just that I'm missing out on my favorite show, well used to be favorite."
"And what show would that be?"
"Medical Center of Love, Mr. Whittaker told me it was trashy and that I shouldn't watch it."
"Did he now?" Who did that man think he was? Telling someone what they should and shouldn't watch! The audacity!
"He even took me to the ROC to show me how awful it truly is!" She began recounting her trip, how the characters came to life. How it started off as a total dream before the cheating and lying warped it into a nightmare. Vanessa listened intently getting more and more disturbed. She had to talk to Jason about this.
"I see," she said as Erika finished with her sorry. She get problematic media, heck she wrote problematic stuff. But for Jason to react by using the ROC just to teach a lesson rubbed her the wrong way.
"I have a question for you, have you stolen anything?
"No."
"Have you broke promises to a friend or flirt with every boy you see?"
"No."
"Well then if you're not practicing that stuff then I say it's okay!"
Erika perked up. "Walt really?"
"Hey as long as you know it's fiction," said Vanessa. "Just be a bit mindful."
"And how do I do that?" Erika hoped this wouldn't lead to another trip to the Room of Consequence. Vanessa grinned. "Just go with your gut."
Erika looked at her stomach. "Go with my gut?"
The next day Jason was managing the dining hall when he overheard Erika talking to one of her school friends. He heard her mention the soap opera and decided to cut in.
"Not to be rude but I thought you said you weren't going to watch that anymore," he wondered.
"Well I'm not watching it now," said Erika. "Miss Marbles told me as long as I was mindful of it being fake it was okay. I know I don't steal or lie or cheat on my friends so I guess I'm in the clear!"
Jason gaped. How dare she try to intervened in his educational moment?! When he found her he was going to have words with her! He remained silent sparing Erika a warning glance or two like a scolding father....
Or Jack Allen....oh no he was getting OLD!
🍀🍀🍀
That evening, Vanessa was at the empty manor cleaning up one of the open rooms when a still-upset Jason found her.
"YOU!" He called out.
Vanessa stopped sweeping and cringed. Crap! Somehow he heard about her little convo with Erika. A small rational side of her mocked her - you deserved it - but this time she was going to stand her ground.
"She's back watching that garbage because of you!"
The novelist shrugged. "It's just a show. I'm confident she knows the difference between what's real and what's fake."
"Yeah but for how long?" Jason asked cross. "You know that stuff is bad so why encourage it?"
"Let me get this straight: a trashy soap opera is bad but yet you can bring video games that defeats the purpose of this place?" She had nothing against video games but she knew Whit never allowed modern technology to be used in the main room. Even the Imagination Station was kept locked up for safety reasons keeping her father Regis away from it.
"Christian video games," he emphasized. "There's a difference. I'm keeping up with the theming at least!"
The novelist sighed in defeat and lowered her head. "I guess women can't do anything after all, everything we do is poison to a man." She smirked as she heard Jason sputter.
"What! That's not even the point nor was it the intention!"
"Well what was your intention?"
"I was trying to teach Erika that shouldn't life imitate art." It was true! Sure it may be harmless at first glance but, he had seen a lot of friendships and relationships shattered because one or both parties thought it was cool to mess with each other's feelings. It was better to nip it in the bud before it escalated.
"Look all that does is show kids that stuff is okay to do in real life when it's not," he countered.
"And how many times a kid thought they nearly died because of the realistic scenarios in the Room of Consequence?" Vanessa pointed out.
"There's more chances being shot by a jilted lover than becoming a lion's meal! I just don't want Erika to get hurt!" Why wasn't she getting it? That soap only glamorizes that awful behavior. He did not want to see Erika get hurt or hurt herself by thinking that stuff would be okay in real life.
"Should I point out the time I got chased by Roman soldiers? That's way more traumatizing than anything a cheesy soap opera may show!"
"Vanessa it's a holograph, Holographs do not and will not harm anyone in real. Life!" He finally lost it. "Gosh you are so thick!"
Now Vanessa was about to lose her temper. "Oh I'm thick? At least I can call myself a good role model by not lecturing kids on what to watch."
"I don't know what kind of role model are you, but when I was growing up we had good clean wholesome fun"
"And when I was growing up we didn't control fun!"
Oh ho - she thought he was controlling huh? That sounded like a challenge and like any Whittaker, he LOVED a good challenge! "Ok sweetheart since you wanna be like that how about a bet? Who can be the best role model at Whit's End?"
"Challenge accepted," Vanessa said coolly. "Better get the tissues ready for when you lose."
"It's on!"
"Fine."
"Fine!"
And with childish pouts the two employees stormed off in opposite directions, both determined to prove the other that they were the best voice of reason for the kids.
Finally some good frickin conflict! 😁😁😁 The road to love never was smooth; that couldn't be more true for Jason & Vanessa! Now neither of them are particularly wrong or right. At the same time it just shows how passionate they can be when it comes to the wellbeing of others even if they end up being immature about it. Besides I want their eventual courtship arc to feel a lot more earned so of course there's going to be obstacles for them to overcome! All in all both need to learn to be more considerate of the other's position, and to let people think for themselves (the lack of such is why I find the Nu!Odyssey to be trash). I tried to make the dialogue not come off as meanspirited or lame.

Mean Girls
I’m wearing pink to manifest the Mean Girls spirit, and a vest to manifest Karen.
All stupid thoughts will be pinned on Kate.
Cady being excited for rap music makes me want a crack fic where Cady listens to rap music and it confuses everybody. Like, let Cady listen to Da Baby 2k20
Whenever I hear the “Welcome to Northshore High” I think of Kalyn West practicing the choreography to It Roars.
Where Do You Belong is iconic as fuck.
Meet The Fucking Plastics, Bitch
That one video of the doors not opening during the beginning of Meet The Plastics is the best thing ever.
Regina George is a Queen, and I love her. Is she a bitch? Absolutely. Do I care? Absolutely not.
When looking up “Is Taylor Louderman straight?” Little Miss Perfect is the first thing that comes up and that’s iconic.
If you’re not black, you cannot get mad at the joke in the beginning of Stupid With Love. Especially because it’s a sterotype based in truth. There is a gene in people from Africa and African Americans that makes them better sprinters.
THOMAS JEFFERSON IS REGINA GEORGE
What’s Wrong With Me is Sad™️
I asked my mom if I could play Halloween music when we were driving to a Halloween bonfire, and she was expecting like Thriller and Spooky Scary Skeletons. She got Sexy instead. She was very disappointed to say the least.
WHY CAN I NOT HEAR THE CAMPBELL IN HER VOICE?! IT FUCKING BOTHERS ME SO MUCH!
My friend went to Mean Girls to see Barrett and not only was Barrett not performing, Cameron Dallas was performing as Aaron.
The Mean Girls but it’s just the names is my favorite video ever because it’s just “REGINA, REGINA, REGINA, REGINA, REGINA...” and it continues like that for basically the whole video.
I feel so bad for Regina during this song, it’s not even funny. Like, I want to give her a hug, and that’s saying something.
Karen is an icon in Stop, and she deserves the world.
I think that we should talk about how the actress for Gretchen in the film was in a low budget movie called Christian Mingle.
Whose House Is This is generally regarded as the worst Mean Girls song
That one clip of Erika forgetting the lyrics to Whose House Is This is literally the best.
Someone Gets Hurt (Reprise) tugs at my heart strings, not gonna lie.
As Kate and Lucky play Minecraft, they get to hear me aggressively shouting “MS. NORBURY’S A DRUG PUSHER”
The Three Genders: Aaron Tveit, Katie Ladner, and Kerry Butler.
Okay, but Renée Rapp’s I’d Rather Be Me pronoun showdown from Regina’s POV.
I love that in the show, I’d Rather Be Me just looks like some angst ridden lesbian teen helping a bunch of children discover their middle fingers for the first time.
Do This Thing is an underrated bop.
I See Stars gets me in the Feels™️
I love that Cady gives Janis like the whole ass crown. It’s because they’re in love honestly though. After the show, Cady and Aaron break up because he’s in college and Cady and Janis get together.
And that finishes Mean Girls. It was a time because this musical is iconic.
And I’m gonna get emotional for this next musical. Because it’s & Juliet.
Final Judgement of Mean Girls: Are there problematic jokes in Mean Girls? Absolutely. At the end of the day though, it’s a combination of a great musical that’s really funny and is also really relatable.

Quarantine tags!
Once again, sorry for being a bit absent lately and not answering many messages – the current situation is not really helping me with the constant fatigue thing, so I’ve been ignoring most of my notifications as of late.
However, I have lovely Tumblr friends who tag me in things to digitally drag me out of my hidey-hole, so here goes... Answering all the text-based questionnaires you’ve been tagging me in!
Music list tag game
Tagged by @homospeksuaali!
Rules: list ten songs you’ve been listening to recently.
Straight from the top of my Spotify On Repeat playlist to your dashboard:
Tomas Ledin: Midsommarafton i Himalaya
Alexander Lycke: Gethsemane
Tomas Ledin: Håll ut - Live
Så som i himmelen Norwegian cast: Så som i himmelen (same song as Tonerna on the Swedish album)
In conclusion, Spotify is trying its best to hide my shame, I have literally listened to nothing but Tomas Ledin there for over a week now. Right now, I’m listening to När kärleken kom for the 20th time in a row.
Quarantine Tag Game
Tagged by @oopperan-kummitus!
Are you staying home from school/work? Yes, but it’s because I was unemployed & going to the career psychologist to try to figure out my career when this situation started. Still very much trying to figure that out, it just seems somewhat more hopeless now.
If you’re staying home, who is there with you? My seven houseplants.
Are you a homebody? Very much so. Despite that, in my circle of friends, I’m also usually the one who organises outings and such. Since I’ve been too tired lately to make many things happen (I love traveling and seeing shows and whatever, of course – but organising those things, especially for a group, can be a huge pain sometimes), I’ve been spending even more time home than usually, even before the quarantines were a thing. In that sense, the quarantine hardly bothers me at all.
An event that you were looking forward that got cancelled? Seeing Alexander Lycke as Freddie in Chess. It’s been my dreamrole for him since forever. However, I try to keep my hopes up – if it’s truely meant to happen, it will still happen one day, and if not, hopefully the universe has something else nice with him in store for me. (There are other things than that, too, of course – but I already wrote about the birthday thing earlier and I can deal with the rest.)
What movies have you watched recently? Nothing since I saw En del av mitt hjärta for the... 7th? time in Stockholm in February. I don’t really enjoy watching movies on small screens, especially when I’m alone, and I’m admittedly lazy when it comes to going to the cinema, though I really like watching stuff on the big screen.
What shows are you watching? None. I can’t really concentrate on them.
What music are you listening to? See above. Also, Jesus Christ Superstar (the 2009 Swedish & 1996 West End revival recordings), it’s the only Easter tradition I have.
What are you reading? Tonight, in honour of Easter, I went on a Wikipedia binge about the historicity of Jesus. Here’s something you maybe don’t know about me: I absolutely love learning stuff about different religions. Stuff like the origins of Christianity is simply super fascinating to me!
What are you doing for self-care? Uh. I try to take a walk every day and not buy any unhealthy snacks. Does listening to Tomas Ledin 24/7 count? I think it’s helping my soul to stay above water these days, if a metaphor like that makes sense.
Nameless tag game
Tagged by @agenderhyde!
Top 3 Ships: Utterson/Jekyll, always and eternally and forever... and, seeing what I’ve been watching lately, I think I have to give a shoutout to Isabella/Edwin & Molly/Simon from En del av mitt hjärta here. They’re all very cute in that movie.
Last Song: Tomas Ledin: När kärleken kom (yes, I’m still at this, I’m listening my way through his discography by having an individual song on repeat until I’m fed up with it – which, let me tell you, takes a lot of repeats – and then moving onto the next one.)
Last Movie: En del av mitt hjärta
Reading: Just bought two new books, a nonfiction book about women in the Viking Age (because I listened to a very interesting podcast interview with the author) and a historical novel about Jesus (see previous tag for reasons). Let’s see if these help me to find my ability to concentrate again!
Three Random Things that Make Me Happy: Seeing squirrels, wearing my old leather jacket & shoes, the existance of Norwegian fjords.
I’m tagging @veilingofthesun, @askyfullofcomets, @ensignbeedrill, @bluepeets, @ananaskeksi & @fraciel to do all of these, if you want to – feel free to pick the ones you like the best or haven’t done yet, or do them all!

izzie’s back with her 2nd character y’all!! ( i also play erika fyi ) you can check out adeline’s bio here and tldr + plots under the cut :’) like this if you wanna plot with my darling or feel free to slide into my ims!
( tw: racism, bullying )
adopted when she was baby from china and brought to live in boot hill, az bc her parents thought it was a nice, wholesome place to raise a kid
which it was ( for the most part )
ah-de-leen, pls. named after her dad’s mom.
the merciers raised her without thinking much of her chinese heritage, like they molded her to be a nice all-american girl without realizing that would mess up her sense of her identity and leave her feeling v lost and confused bc she was probably like one of the few asian kids in boot hill!!
went to church every sunday. merciers are v christian. adeline herself isn’t so sure about religion anymore.
faced a fair amount of racism and ignorance growing up, esp in elementary and middle school. got a lot of why don’t you look like your parents/racial taunts/general confusion & ignorance/etc
she assimilated v well tho out of a desire to be accepted. in high school, bc she felt out of place, she focused on fitting in w everyone. was a cheerleader, student council vp, played piano, went to parties. a true chameleon. some ppl were jealous of her, thinking that she acted too good for them/whatever. others were like wow ur so exotic!!!!! but overall, it was fine. had a desire to reconnect w her chinese heritage, but that never went anywhere until she graduated.
graduated at the top of her class and went to columbia for school. was a big surprise to everyone bc who leaves boot hill?? esp for fuckin nyc and ivy leagues?? but off she went!
boot hill prepared her for nothing. going from boot hill to the ~real world~ was a shock and a half, and she definitely struggled. a lot. nearly failed her first semester. i think being somewhere different was intoxicating in itself, and it was easy to forget about going back home bc there was always, always something to do that she wouldn’t go back home for breaks.
met other asians and adoptees, really started to find more of herself. explored her sexuality more. got drunk and high. typical college things.
started searching for her biological mother during college but to no avail since her parents were p cagey about info. the merciers were well-meaning and caring, but also oblivious and selfish. didn’t want her to go chasing after her old family.
got pregnant when she was 22 bc well.....things happen. she was supposed to stay in nyc after graduating and start a new life with her boyfriend who promised he’d stick around for their kid. honestly, they really might’ve stayed together if he hadn’t died from being in the wrong place the wrong time. he was kinda involved in some shady shit tho.
she found later after he hadn’t come back to their apartment, and wanting to leave everything behind, moved back to boot hill to be with her parents. plus it’d be better for her son, anyway, bc for all her parents’ faults, they’d be good for her son and she needed the help.
rumors followed her immediately after she came back---who’s the father, what she’s running from, even she can’t escape boot hill---but they died down after a couple of months. worked in the schoolhouse cafe and saved up money until she was 26 and opened the olive branch bar to bring a lil bit of nyc to boot hill.
3 years later, her business is thriving, her son’s doing great, and she has a nice place in the desert willow apartments. life is fine. but she still feels like something is missing.
she’s kind, well-spoken, and poised. trustworthy---people were telling her all sorts of shit through hs and college bc she just seemed like the type to never tell your secrets and give good advice. it’s not that she minded, it’s just sometimes it was too much?? pretty private, doesn’t talk much about the time she left boot hill. still puts on an act. feels like she’s reached a dead end.
nicknames are adele, lina, elle, delle, etc. never addie.
plots!!
babysitting charges - her parents were well-off, true, but they always emphasized making your own way, so she did babysitting around town during high school. she’s watched these kids grow up, and now they’ve changed a lot. maybe it’s a older sister kind of thing??
friends - friends from high school in boot hill, those she’s reconnected with after returning, the friends she’s made with newcomers that have settled in, anything goes! pls give my gal some friends! i’d love some ride or dies and really close friendships that have stood the test of time. even if she kinda went off the grid. also, friendships that have had to put back together and fixed after time drew them apart!
will they won’t they - u know how this goes :~)
exes - give me the angsttttt. probably a high school rlship, and also any that happened when she moved back after college since she moved back when she was 22/23. amicable exes, a bad break-up, lingering feelings, let’s work something out! bi, but was closeted in hs bc there was a bunch of shit she was working out. hs ex-girlfriends??
flings, dates, whatever. she gets out sometimes ok. flirtations, that that fun stuff.
someone to help her in searching for her biological family, but how fruitful that’ll be in a town like boot hill who knows
people resent her for leaving and then coming back like? why the hell would you come back idk
do u have kids? playdates w her kid. he’s 7 and adorable.
pretty open to newcomers. are you a newcomer/recently settled? maybe she showed you around! maybe you’re friends! maybe something more!
local connections! people she’s been around her whole life for better or for worse.
confidants!! this could go both ways, maybe she trusts you enough to open up to you
regulars at the olive branch bar!!

Chapter 2 : Storm’s End
A/N : Aslaug is not yet dead in this chapter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Much like her journey from Wessex to Algeciras before, the weather was not lenient on them. It kept raining and the waves were wilding towards all their ships and while Erika was not that much disheartened to see the other ships sunk to their doom under the sea, she did feel for the innocent passengers on board; the women from the harem and others made into slaves to be sold wherever they are headed to. The saltiness in the sea water that kept hitting their faces every minute made itself known to the Venetian Slavic princess as she could no longer taste the saltiness no longer. In fact, she was somewhat numb to it. In all honesty, she was numb and oblivious to everything on board. It did not bother her, much to some crews’ dismay. It was hard to break through the hardened woman. But one, did not give up.
Erika was staring out in the horizon, as the waters splashed through them under the angry storm that she swore she heard crackling every once in a while. People could be heard praying on board, especially the vikings, as they said something regarding Thor, who she knew to be the God of Thunder. Of course, they were pagans who worshipped the Norse gods. Though she was deeply intrigued by their folklore and stories, she remained a devout Christian. “How are you not bothered by the storm, ravnprinsesse.” Hvitserk’s slightly deep voice interrupted her thinking as the flaxen haired male took a seat before her, holding on the handle of his sword. “It’s just the storm. Why should I let it bother me. It’s been my companion every time I sail anywhere.” Just because she didn’t like her current circumstances, does not mean she would not speak. It would give them the slight satisfaction they were not aware they wanted. While it would have been enjoyable for the raven haired princess to see the look of aggravation present on their faces, it was no use.
He had a look of triumph and amusement dancing in his cerulean blue hues as he then averted his gaze while talking to his uncle, who she successfully identified to be Rollo, the Duke of Normandy. They were conversing in their own native tongue, old Norse. However, Erika could hear and understand every single word they were saying. Clearly, it wasn’t the first time someone has decided to underestimate her. It wasn’t as if they were not keeping their conversation private since Hvitserk was still in front of her, with only his back against her, as she leaned on the right side of the ship, her soulless orbs fighting with her own self. As the storm worsens, she found peace within herself as she slipped out her cross necklace and prayed silently to her God. It was until the prince saw and almost snatch it off her hands, to which she evaded. “Leave me alone. You pray to your gods, and I will pray to mine. I don’t wish to die so uselessly in a ship, filling my last memories of life with the people I despise.” She mumbled, pushing herself aside to face the side of the ship better, rather than facing the flaxen haired prince.
Thankfully, he did not bother her again afterwards. Which was short-lived, as they approached the port of Kattegat. She would be lying if she said she wasn't shivering in the cold due to the waters incapacitating the lot of them during the storm before. But she’s went through worse, given that she’s lived in the East, which wasn’t really that far off from their lands, despite growing up in Wessex.
As soon as the ships arrived, she was dragged away from her spot by someone and pushed through the crowds that were seemingly cheering for their loved ones’ return. They did have their own idea of civilization, she wasn’t ignorant. She knew that. But knowing what they have done all these years to the neighbouring countries, it wasn’t a surprise to see the soft spoken princess being cold. Their very idea of ‘life’ sickens her. Or maybe it was the way she has been brought up. She was taught to hate the Pagans since a young age, even though she had ties to at least one, whom she held close to regard, even after all these years.
The harsh nudge to her back caused the hazel eyed Venetian to hiss in response as she hit the floor. She struggled aimlessly as she was dragged again. But this time, she noticed they halted. “Now now, let’s not drag her so harshly like the others. Bjorn specifically selected her. We would not want damaged goods, do we?” How badly did she want to land a hit on his handsome face? Here’s a hint. Very badly. How dare he talked about her like she was some mare. Even a mare had more respect than that. Yet she kept her silence, not giving it off to them that she understood their language. It would be far too amusing for him, and she would not give to it. Not if she could help it.
“Is she not joining the others?” A girl quipped, and if Erika was right, she was definitely younger than her, with blonde hair braided though her hair was slightly messy. She was guessing, it’s a viking thing. There was only so much that she knew of them. It wasn’t as if they had a library on them back in England. “No Margrethe, she’s not to be sold like the others at the slave market. She’s..special. Though she could use a change, be a dear and go for it, would you?” The girl whom she knew as Margrethe, as her name was mentioned by Hvitserk earlier, nodded and took her away. She lets out a relieved sigh once she was far from them.
“What is your name.” The accent laced within her voice made Erika thought twice about speaking. Years of living in Wessex slowly scrapped away her Russian accent when speaking in English. But she was captured in a harem at Algeciras, Spain, so she would be revealing herself to be so foreign if she had spoken like a Saxon. She would rather keep herself mysterious as she can, despite having both sons of Ragnar knowing where she came from. “Katerina.” Her voice that was accentuated in deep Russian accent, one she was surprised wasn’t gone yet, never once betraying her appearance. She held herself respectfully and at a high regard.
“Well..Katerina, where are you from.” More questions. How Erika hated those. Especially when she didn’t want to reply to them. “There is no need to know where I originally hail from. I was captured like the others in Algeciras when they raided Spain.” Her tone was cold and unnerving, fitting her stature. Margrethe was surprised by this sudden scowl and resorted to silence before telling her to clean herself up and be by the Great Hall after finishing. It was clear that the slave was intimidated by her. And so, Erika washed herself quickly and managed to dispose the clothes somewhere hidden before she needed to bury them, in case one questioned her identity.
---------------------------------------
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It didn’t take her long to prep herself decently as she let her long curled jet black hair cascade on her shoulders after pinning them neatly with a cloth. Her hair was the dark colour of the night, paired with her hazel; more to green hues and pale complexion. It was not a usual look for anyone there, neither was it an occurrence back in her homelands. It was mainly due to her mother’s Venetian heritage. Despite wearing a simple dress the other slaves wore in the household of Ragnar Lothbrok, her presence exudes the regalness within her. The moment she set her foot in the Great Hall, every attention was on her. Queen Aslaug, stood in the middle of the hall with her sons occupying the table.
“You. Girl-come here.” She beckoned for Erika to come forth and so she did. Keeping her gaze to the floor, she walked in a normal pace towards the Queen and bowed. It was more to curtseying, really. “Where are you from.” The Queen seemed to be intrigued by the newcomer as she leaned forward to meet her eyes. “And please, meet my eyes, girl. I want to see you properly.” And she complied. Her hazel hues contrasts the queen’s natural green ones. “My, my son were not telling lies when they said the girls in the harem they raided was filled with many beautiful women.” The raven haired female wasn’t sure what to answer the queen when asked where she hailed from. Surely, Hvitserk and Bjorn would know she was lying if she said otherwise.
“I hail from Veliky Novgorod, my Queen.” With both sons being present as the other 3, there was no point in lying. She had a feeling she will stay in Kattegat for quite some time. “You don’t look like a Russian.” Merely, that should be offensive to their family as they have been battling for their rights but in this case, it didn’t seem so. “My mother is a Venetian who resides in Sicily. My father however, was born in Kyiv, and resided over Veliky Novgorod.” Which was the utmost truth, except she left out the details about her parents being the former King and Queen of Novgorod and Sicily respectively. It wouldn’t hurt. “You picked her in Algeciras, son? Why have you brought her straight here? To be your personal thrall?” Now that is one word she did not know of.
“Why not. She is easy on the eyes. Hopefully she’ll be as easy on chores.” Hvitserk chuckled, feeding himself a spoonful of meat as he smirked. “Whatever you desire, Hvitserk.” Maybe she was wrong to think the queen could ever see more of her than some thrall, whatever that is. And to Hvitserk, no less. Does God really wants to punish her now?
---------------------------------------
After they had finished their dinner, Erika interrupted Bjorn who was conversing with his fellow vikings and brothers. “What are you doing.” That got out a few confusing glances from his brothers, as the Ironside dismissed his friends, leaving him with his brothers and Erika, by the corner. “You did not bring me all the way back to Kattegat just to make me a personal thrall to your brother, whatever that is.” Again, they were taken aback by her ability to speak their language. “A thrall is a slave, ravnprinsesse.” There it is again, that darn nickname the third prince has been giving her ever since she boarded their ship.
“We didn’t know you could speak our language. Why have you not said anything.” Bjorn spoke, an amused look making its way up. “You never asked. And my question still stands, Bjorn Ironside. What are you doing, because I know you did not bring me all the way here to be a slave. You know I am worth a lot more if you would barter me off to my brother in the East.” His brother who was busy drinking the ale stopped, and gave a confused and clueless look to his eldest brother. “Or England, you mean.” That sudden statement coming from the famed eldest son of Ragnar Lothbrok was more than an answer for Erika to realize, he knew exactly who she was. “So you know who I am. My question again..still stands.”
“Brother, who is she. Am I the only one who does not know who she is, to be such importance on bartering a deal with the Saxon Christians and Eastern lords?” Sigurd quipped as Ubbe too shrugged in response. Ivar, the crippled youngest brother, stood by, his blue eyes staring attentively at the foreign princess. “This is Erikaterina of Novgorod and Sicily. A princess of the East. Her brother is the current King of Novgorod and she is- a ‘good’ friend to the Saxons, especially the King Ecbert and Prince Aethelwulf.” After he revealed her identity, the brothers stopped their drinking with the exception of Ivar and Hvitserk, who looked as if nothing really mattered.
“I know who you are, princess. Why did you think I brought you to Kattegat? Rumor has it you wanted to see our father.” Well, that rumor spread out quite quickly. “I heard he is still alive.” That alone has made every princes’ ears perked up in response, to hear what she has to say and why she wanted an audience with their father. “And why would you want to see him.” She dismissed the question off by telling them it was none of their business nor concern. But then Ivar pressed on the matter, saying since it concerns their father, she was obligated to tell them since she was no place to make demands. “Your father saved my life once upon a time ago when the vikings raided Wessex. And despite the bad blood between the vikings and the eastlanders, I wish to return the favor to Ragnar Lothbrok for sparing me when he didn’t need to. I am a woman of my word and I promised him that I would repay him one day. It’s been over 16 years but I have not forgotten it.”
Finishing his ale, Bjorn placed his cup aside on the table as he crossed his arms. “My father went to England, just right before I sailed to Mediterranean seas with my brother, Hvitserk. So your journey to Algeciras was worthless. Maybe if you would stay in Wessex instead of travelling there, you could have the chance to meet him. But now, you will never be able to do that as you are stuck here.” Stuck? To say that she was not taken aback by that would be a huge lie. “You wish to keep me here?” Waggling his fingers in front of Erika, Hvitserk snickered. “No no, not wish, prinsesse. You are already a thrall here.”
What has she gotten herself into.

Ask Stephane
Many years ago, on his old website, Stephane would respond to questions sent in by fans. These were later compiled & shared by a poster in the Lambiel-Ru Livejournal community. The time span is from about 2003-2007. I cherrypicked a few of my favorite responses, but there are many more at the source. Happy reading ;-) (Sorry, they’re not in chronological order.)
Taskira (Izhevsk, Russia): 1. How are you able to create such a different impression on ice from what you are off ice? I mean that when I see you on ice, you almost always have serious, tragic, dramatic programs, but in your life you seem to be so merry and funny. Well, actually I can only judge according to your answers on your site, for instance about the Swiss chocolate helping to spin. Can you guarantee that if I eat ten chocolate bars, I will be able to rock some championships in the coming years? 2. You've named Miss Spears as one of your favorite singers. Would you like to skate to her music? 3. Now that you've become really popular, what is the best thing you got from it: money, popularity, the opportunity to meet other celebrities, self-esteem or maybe just the opportunity to say that you're happy that your family can be proud of you? 4. Do you believe in destiny? SL: 1. I don't want to make a fool of myself on the ice, I'd rather let other people do that. And yes, if you eat ten bars of Swiss chocolate each day for a whole year, you'll become a world champion! [Warning: Stéphane's insurance doesn't cover the medical costs of his fans.] 2. Yes, I'd like to skate on a remix without lyrics of Britney's music. 3. The best thing is just that I can do what I love, not everybody has that chance. I don't feel so famous, people don't recognize me in the streets. 4. Yes
Guyleen (Nendaz, Switzerland): You say that Alexei Yagudin is one of your favorite skaters. Now that he's turned pro, aren't you disappointed by the fact that you won't compete against him anymore? Wouldn't you have been incredibly proud to steal "his" first place and only let him the silver medal? SL: Honestly, I never even wondered about that. I respect him very much, so I'd have been very proud to beat him, but I wouldn't have been like "yeah, cool, I beat Yagudin!" And I don't know if I'd ever been able to anyway, because we'd have grown and improved differently, it sure wouldn't have been easy!
Tatyana (Russia): 1. I read that you trained with Alexei Mishin in St-Petersburg. Has his advice helped you? Will you continue training with him? Did you like St-Petersburg? 2. You performed in difference countries. In which country do you like performing most (except Switzerland)? 3. Could you be a coach when you finish skating? SL: 1. His pieces of advice are very useful and constituent. I don't know if I'll train with him again though. St-Petersburg is absolutely amazing, a beautiful city, the most beautiful maybe, spacibo bolshoye ! 2. I love Mexico because it's very warm there ! 3. No. I have other projects, and I'd like to study at the university.
Anastasia (Russia): I saw you at the Cup of Russia and noticed that while looking at ice dancing, the only skaters you didn't clap for were the Russians, and during the exhibition, the situation was the same - you applauded Evgeni Plushenko, but not the others Russian participants. Does it mean that you don't like Russians in general and skaters in particular? SL: Are you kidding? Russian skaters are the ones I admire most, they inspire me so much! Ilia Kulik and Alexei Yagudin are among my all-time favorite skaters! So I'm sorry if I gave you that feeling, but it really isn't the case!
Terry (San Francisco, USA): I was wondering why Swiss skaters are so talented at spinning. There have been so many Swiss skaters that have excelled in spinnng over the years. Do you feel good spinning should receive more credit in the judges' marks? SL: Swiss can spin so well thanks to the good Swiss chocolate! That makes them fat, which then creates a better centrifugal force and therefore makes them spin faster!!! LOL No, seriously, Swiss skaters give more importance to the spins, already when they're really young... I think that the spins are given more credit with the new judging system, that's not too bad, but still, I wouldn't mind getting even more credit - spinning takes me more energy than jumping in my programs.
Guyleen (Nendaz, Switzerland): What's your opinion about the collaboration between Brian Joubert and Alexei Yagudin? SL: I've never seen them work together and I've never seen Alexei Yagudin supporting Brian at a competition I also skated at, so I don't really have an opinion about that.
Muriel (Zurich, Switzerland): 1. What do you think of animals? 2. Do you like going to the circus? 3. Do you speak German German or also Swiss-German [a dialect], and if so, with which accent? SL: 1. I don't like insects, spiders and such little things, except for ladybugs of course. My favorite animals are the big cats, I find them beautiful and powerful, and I also like the animals that live in the savanna. I'd love to have a cat again, because Sabri's now living at one of my mom's friends and I don't see him any longer. 2. Yes, I do, especially to the Cirque du Soleil. 3. I speak German German, and I understand Swiss German if I know the person who speaks it, if I'm used to their voice.
Elina (Latvia): 1. I am 16 years old, but unfortunately I don't know how to skate. It would be great to learn, but it would be even better if you could teach me. Could you do that? 2. Why do you usually skate in black velvet costume? SL: 1. No, sorry, I have neither the time nor the patience for that! 2. I like black, I like sobriety.
Rita Hypnarowski (California, USA):
1) Once school is over for you, how long would you delay school to keep skating full-time? Your fans want to see the incredible heights you will reach focusing solely on skating. 2) You've won over thousands and thousands of fans in North America, and with your high placement at 2004 Worlds, you will undoubtedly be asked to join one of the prestigious North American skating tours. Would you accept, or will you prefer to do only shows in Europe? 3) Do you rely on religion and spirituality to get you through your programs, or do you approach your skating *tests* with a lighter, more physical/mental approach? SL: 1. I'll focus on skating until the Olympics in Torino. Beside that, I just want to perfect my English and learn how to play the guitar. 2. I'll accept when I'll have time. 3. I don't do any kind of psychological training.
Vanessa (Portugal) Do you think that you would feel differently if Evgeni Plushenko hadn't withdrawn and you had won against him? SL: In my head, I beat him. Even if he wasn't 100%, I did beat him in the qualifying round and in the short program, and when he withdrew, I took it as a sign that he felt that he wouldn't be able to beat me during the free program.
Petra (Czech Republic) 1. You are twenty and it seems that you've already reached your biggest dreams. I hope you realise your huge luck. There are so many people who, no matter how hard they try, will never see their dreams come true. What do you think is the reason why you've crossed this personal line of success? 2. Do you still have a dream (not necessarily related to figure skating) that hasn't come true? Something that is more important for you than these moments of absolute happiness that you've lived lately? SL: 1. I've worked very hard to get there, it didn't fall down from heaven! 2. Of course, I have dreams like everybody, it's what keeps me going on. The most important, it's that my family stays healthy. And I would love to meet Britney.
Elena (Russia) I heard that you've taken some lessons from our famous Professor Alexei Mishin. Why have you decided to consult Alexei Mishin and not another coach? And what do you think of the Russian figure skating school? SL: Alexei Mishin is an excellent coach and I admire the Russian skating style. It's a very very very good school.
Gabrielle (USA) 1. Who was you favorite skater growing up? 2. Who is your favorite skater now? 3. If you could go on a date with anyone in the world who would it be and why? SL: 1. Ilia Kulik 2. Carolina Kostner 3. Britney Spears, to see if she's really the person she pretends to be.
Noémie I'm wondering if you're planning on coaching later, and I'd also like to know if it's possible to watch your practices. SL: I give advice to the skaters who train with me, but I don't think I would be patient enough to become a coach. And no, my practices are not open to the public.
Kari (Japan) Do you enjoy skating in Japan? Please tell me what you feel, eat and buy when you’re here! SL: Yes, the audience is really amazing. I love to shop in Shibuya, once I had a very expensive ice cream in the Omotesando Mall and it was the best I’ve ever tried. The Prada and Christian Dior stores are fantastic!
Erika (Sweden) I read on "Ask Stéphane" that you want to be Gabrielle's second lover in "Desperate Housewives", and that you could be her cook for example. Are you a great cook? And if yes, do your friends think so to, or is it only you? SL: I’ve learned from my grandma and I really like to bake cakes. I think the people who’ve tasted them had a nice experience…
Craig (Honolulu, Hawaii, USA) What is your interest in "The Little Prince"? Do you identify with this character and in what way? SL: I like the way he sees the world, which is totally different from how mass society sees it.
Varvara (Kiev, Ukraine) Do you have a motto? SL: Semper Profice - Always forge ahead!

then just chilled with igi at his place
i went to grand mart and got some pork belly and kimchee cause ive been craving kbbq lol
