#i think for me the thing that will happen most is that cody wins vader's respect

Omg the Vowbreaker ficlet. I can't resist and imagine an AU for your AU. What would happen if Cody wouldn't know that Obi-Wan is still alive and slowly his feelings for Anakins change. It isn't love but something else because he doms him and sleeps next to him and cares for him and somehow something develops. How would Obi-Wan react? He destroyed Anakin and he made Cody into the pseudo Dom for his beloved. Cody is his 'brother'. Would he kill Cody?
ooo idk if i can really weigh in on this in that i'm obikin-only in like. the most extremely extreme ways that i can't imagine cody and anakin ever together even though the lines of their relationship are blurring in vowbreaker--it just doesn't work with my brain
but at the same time when i knew that i wanted the cody&anakin relationship to be explored in vowbreaker (if only to make the betrayal hurt all the more after), i also figured there'd be a lot of moments i wrote that toe the platonic/sexual line so much that people who do and can ship stuff other than obikin would think well....maybe that could work....
and i thought about if i was ok with that, and tbh i really am!! but i also don't think i can really entertain the idea cause it's just not for me. i can't see anything really developing between them because this anakin is always going to be only obi-wan's, and honestly i can't see cody softening that much
but i admit it would definitely be an interesting dynamic and crisis of faith and it would feel like a betrayal in obi-wan's eyes which would be interesting as well......but i can't really i really can't

Help Me Understand
Part 2
Obi wan x reader
Angst, fluff
Takes place during ROTS. Y/n there to be by Obi wan side as he discovers the truth behind the abrupt turn of events in the war, Anakin becoming darth vadar, and eventually how he will come to fight him.
Angst prompts :“I don’t want space. I want you. ...I need you, please stay with me.” “You don’t have to face him alone, you’re not alone.”
SIDENOTE: ‘//’ when its one parenthesis's they are talking through the force and when its double ‘’ like normal its being said aloud
Help me understand part 1
Tumblr media
“Well it looks like you took all the fun.” I say more to Obi than Yoda.
“Master y/n.” Yoda responds and I give him a bow. “Master Yoda.”
“Y/n.” Obi wan looks at me with wide eyes and rushes over to pull into a tight hug. I return his hug gratefully. Anyone could see it and anyone could feel it. We have an unformidable bond. That’s all that mattered. We are safe and we have each other.
We part and I give him a somber smile, “I heard Anakin was here.”
Obi wan sighs and looks to Master Yoda whose head goes down casted. We make our way into the temple. I can feel intensely the echoes of screams and blasters and lightsabers going off all around. A massacre.
The masters talk amongst themselves as I bend down and reach out to the force and see the events play out. It’s like a rock in the pit of my stomach. I fear I already know. As I see him come into view cloaked and feeling possessed. This is no Anakin. He has a new awakening inside giving his entity a new identity. Darth Vadar.
“Who could have done this?” Obi questions. I look to Master Yoda and then back to Obi keeping it impassive. Doesn’t he feel it? Doesn’t he know? Is he trying to be ignorantly blind? No. Not Obi wan Kenobi. He knows deep down. He’s just not ready to face it.
Me and Obi work on reversing the code but as Master Yoda claims ‘a long time it will take’ to recalibrate the clones.
‘Cody was with you wasn't he?” I ask quietly not sure if I should bring it up.
“Yes.”
“I made contact with Ashoka. She’s managed to help Rex through the force. I fear for what might become of her if she sees Anakin.”
“Do you think...do you really think he is our enemy?”
“No.” I can’t hesitate. I do my best not to lie either. I need to have hope. You can win wars built on hope.
“How did it come to this? I don’t understand.”
“I can only think of one person. Palpatine.”
“I must know the truth.” He walks out of the room and I quickly follow.
“Master. There is something I must know.” He says and walks over to the channel recording tables.
Yoda warns him, but knowing Obi this is the only way he can bring himself to do it. The recording plays out. It confirms everything and breaks everything as well. Obi is conflicted once again and in pain that is hard to keep under control on the inside as I reach out to blanket him.
Master Yoda says the words no one wants to hear now. “Destroy the sith we must.”
Obi wan claims he can kill the emperor but not Anakin and I can’t help as my heart yearns at the sentiment. Anakin has turned to the dark side. He is sith. He is Darth vader. He is no longer Anakin and it pains me to even think about it. It pains me to see Obi-wan in turmoil about it.
“I don’t know where to look. Do you know?” He turns to me now. I sadly put my head down and shake my head no.
“I didn’t hear that part of the conversation. You will have to go to Padme. She will probably have an easier time telling you.” I say trying to hide my discomfort. I wasn’t jealous of Padme but I didn’t understand how Obi wan was more compelling to be more open with her than with me. Someone who has been by his side more often than not. We did our first mission together. One of many. We have a force connection only we share more powerful than most. I was there when Quin Gon died and he was crying in his room all night. Then he took on the responsibility of Anakin Skywalker.
“You’re right as ever.” He says and gives me a small smile and a squeeze on my shoulder.
“I’ll continue to figure out the code. You go speak with Padme.” I say trying not to grind my teeth with every word that comes out of my mouth. The last thing I want is to be alone. Not when he has finally come home.
“I’ll fetch you when I’m done. He replies before he leaves with one last stare that could say a million things.
It feels like an eternity since he left but I reach out slightly on the parameters of his force line. Padme is in shock and disbelief. She doesn’t end up telling him where despite how much he pushes in her head but he does sense the child she carries is Anakin’s. Thank the stars I don’t have to keep that a secret anymore. Padme didn’t tell me, but it was easy prying into Anakin’s mind when he asked me to watch over her. That and how she was eating more and the belly was starting to show.
I sense his presence coming closer to me and I meet him out on a small landing dock where no one would detect us.
“You’re just going to have to sit sideways in my lap.” He explains with a bit of cough and the tips of his ears tinge pink. He’s embarrassed. My heart is pounding but I do it anyway.
We go to the senate building and disguise ourselves to a hanger where Padme's ship is being ready for take off. Obi grabs my hand and we sneak onto the ship undetected by Padme and C3PO. Obi wan informed on the way here that she didn’t tell him where Anakin is but has been sensing she is going after him. We hide in a compartment together on the ship. I settle for sitting down and hugging my legs to my chest. Obi takes a Jedi kneeling stance across from me.
‘Did you know about the baby?’ He projects into my mind.
‘Yes. I knew.’ I begrudgingly say.
‘Why didn’t you tell me?’ He questions.
‘It wasn’t my place to tell. I read Anakin’s mind and found out my suspicions were true.’
‘Ah.’
‘Why did you say that when the war broke out?’ I ask timidly. I wish there was a wall between us. I don’t dare look at him when I ask this question.
‘What do you mean?’ I can feel him start to close off.
‘You called me, “my love”. What did you mean?’
‘...’ he is silent at first but then sighs and rubs his hand down his face. ‘I suppose I can’t hide it any longer. I don’t need to. I meant I love you. Because I do. I have loved you for a long time now. I just knew we couldn’t give in. We were always passing each other too. The missions together became less and communicating became more silent. It wasn’t the Jedi way. Now there is no Jedi.’
‘Oh Obi there is Jedi. There’s you, me, Yoda, and hopefully we can save Anakin.’
‘Yes.’ I can feel the hesitation. He’s on edge but blurts it out bluntly through the force. ‘Do you love me?’
I try not to smile big seeing as my heart will burst but all I feel right now for Obi Wan is love. We are about to enter a battlefield with a friend turned foe and yet none of that matters as much as I feel for Obi Wan Kenobi.
‘Yes.’ I say this time meaning it with my entire heart. Probably the first real truthful yes I’ve said all day. I can feel the love he has kept hidden, flow through me and it’s bliss and would leave me in daze if I didn’t know what we were about to do.
Landing in disguise was probably the hardest and easiest part. Padme didn’t know we were there and anakin’s energy was too high off the charts to focus on multiple things at once. His sole focus was Padme that much we could feel. We waited until she made it off the ship and then as we snuck out of our little compartment I looked to see 3CPO spot us and I gave him a signal of silence and for once he didn't make a sound. I hear Anakin’s voice and look back at obi wan at the entrance exposing his presence.
Everything after that happened so quickly. Padme being choked and falling unconscious. Anakin and Obi Wan start to negotiate but no real negotiation takes place. Obi wan in his mind tells me stay on board, Padme is still breathing, and Anakin could hurt me if i expose myself now. I stay back until I hear them start to duel and leave the scene. I run out to Padme whose unconscious but through the force I can feel she's under a lot of stress she can’t handle and I fear the baby-no babies it seems: twins, will be coming sooner than expected. I get 3CPO’s help to load Padme back into the ship and let her rest. I want to call out to Obi wan but I fear it would distract him.
I reach out to have my force barely touch Obi wan’s as I feel a sudden anguish overwhelm me in my meditation in the force. Obi wan felt nothing but pain as he had to leave his brother, someone who was the closest thing he had to family being left to die. He wasn't looking to make Anakin suffer but as we all know that wasn’t Anakin anymore but Darth Vadar. I send 3CPO to inform Obi wan as he makes his way back to the ship. I can feel he is miserable and tired. 3CPO sets the coordinates as I make the call for a medic droid to be ready once we arrive. Obi Wan pays Padme a visit to Padme. I hear her ask about Anakin as she did when I helped her lay down for rest. She will never be the same again, but at least she has her children.
Obi wan makes his way to the front of the ship, silent. I can feel the indifference of pain within him. I think to myself he must need space right now and make my way back towards Padme. If only I could help relieve some of the pain he’s feeling.
“Come back…” I hear softly called out. I’m almost at Padme’s door when I faintly hear the voice. I turn around and see Obi wan looking at the ground and running his hand down his face as he does when in hard times.
“Did you say something?” I ask, wondering if I heard wrong.
“I don’t want space.”
“Oh.” Was he mind reading me earlier?
“I don’t want space. I want you. ...I need you, please stay with me.”
I feel my heartbreak a little at the crack of his voice. He is doing his best to stay strong, but he just did the impossible and shouldered the weight of the galaxy on his shoulders. No one will understand, but I’ll be damned if I don’t at least try or help him one way or another.

The Things We Do For Love ~ Part Five / Finale
previous part ~ masterlist
So. This is the finale! I hope you enjoyed reading this, it was fun to write! As always, comments make my day, and they are a HUGE motivator when writing, so I’d love to know what you thought!
I’m sorry this took a while. Life got busy for a hot minute, but I wanted to actually buckle down and do this- hence why I’m posting this at like 2 a.m. (for some reason I am more productive in the dead hours of the night).
Also, listen, I know Kix is in carbonite… but Kix isn’t in carbonite. So that’s that.

“Ani?” Padmé asked tentatively, knowing she wouldn’t get the answer she wanted.
“Padmé. You’re alive,” Vader said, stepping closer. She didn’t reach out for him, just placed her hands over her stomach protectively. He seemed to notice her reluctance. Vader’s eyes flashed with something Padmé couldn’t quite name.
“Yes, I’m alive. But you… what have you done?”
Vader’s eyes narrowed. “What did Obi-Wan tell you?”
“Nothing that I didn’t already know. Those things they’re saying… how could you, Anakin? Why?”
“Because you were going to die!” Vader shouted. His voice was broken, a mix of rage and pain, and it reminded her too much of that horrible day on Tatooine all those years ago. “I did what I had to do.”
“But I’m fine! The babies are perfectly healthy-”
“Babies?” He asked, sounding more familiar, softer. “As in plural?”
“Yes,” Padmé whispered. “Twins. I’ve met with the medics, and they all say I’m perfectly fine.”
“The medics. So you’re staying on board the ships. With Obi-Wan.” It wasn’t a question.
“I am. Because we’re friends.”
“He’s turning you against me,” Vader muttered, more to himself than her. “Filling your head with lies. The Jedi, they’re traitors, Padmé, you have to believe me,” He practically begged, stepping closer to her again. This time, Padmé flinched away. Flinched away from the bloodshot golden eyes that bore into her.
“I don’t know who you are anymore. Listen to yourself, Anakin; this isn’t you.”
“You don’t believe me! You’d believe those- those traitors over me?”
“Anakin, they’re not traitors. Palpatine is the-” “Palpatine can help you, Padmé. Help us. And when it’s all over, I’m strong enough to overthrow him, and you and I will rule.” Padmé shook her head at his words. This person, this stranger in front of her- he was nothing like the person she’d married years ago on Naboo. This man was a twisted, broken, shell of who Anakin once was.
Padmé raised her chin defiantly, looking him dead in the eyes. “No. I will not be a part of some warped fantasy, Lord Vader. You are a Sith, a traitor, and a murderer. I won’t stand by and let you and your Emperor destroy this galaxy.”
Vader snarled. “Then you-” Before he could fire back, his attention got caught on something behind her. She turned, and saw Obi-Wan exiting the ship.
All part of the plan.
Padmé schooled her face into one of shock. The more theatrical she got, the more Vader would be distracted. “NO! You said you wouldn’t interfere!”
Vader rounded on her, looking away from his old Master. “You brought him here on purpose! You LIAR!”
From where she stood, Obi-Wan’s face remained passive. But she was close enough to see the flicker of hurt in his eyes as they fell on Vader.
“Padmé didn’t lie, Vader. She just… hindered some of the truth.” It’s working, Padmé thought, as she slowly stepped away from the Sith in front of her. He looked more and more enraged every second.
“You will die, Kenobi, I promise you that. I will kill you where you stand,” Vader bit out, the yellow in his eyes flaring.
“You will try,” Obi-Wan replied, stepping in front of Padmé.
Vader took out his lightsaber, but before he could ignite it, a blue stun blast knocked him down. He crumpled onto the desert terrain, unmoving.
Padmé looked up to Ahsoka crouched on top of the shuttle, blaster in hand.
“Good thing we have those extra escape hatches in the shuttle, right?” Ahsoka called, sounding lighter than she looked. Her shoulders drooped, and no matter how much she feigned composure, Padmé was a politician.
Ahsoka was breaking, she could see it. Just like Obi-Wan.
Just like her.
***
Obi-Wan stood on the other side of a one-way mirror, studying Anakin’s cell. His old apprentice had been placed in force-binding handcuffs while still unconscious, and put in the most secure cell they had on board. A steady guard rotation made sure he was watched at all times.
For now, he was not a threat. Obi-Wan just hoped that it would stay that way.
He didn’t notice Ahsoka enter the room. She placed a hand on his arm, guiding him towards the door. “Master, you’ve been watching him for an hour. You should rest,” She said gently.
“I need to make sure he doesn’t do anything-”
“It’ll be fine. He’s out cold, for now. And there’s guards watching him at all times. Rest.” She managed to pull him out of the room and down the hall.
“Ahsoka- I wanted to tell you,” He paused their walk, turning to face her. His old Grandpadawan looked up at him, questioning. “I wanted to apologize for everything that happened. With the bombing. I’m sorry I didn’t fight harder for you, I should have-”
Ahsoka gave him a small, sad smile. “Master, it’s okay. We’re okay.” Obi-Wan knew she wasn’t excusing it, she was not fully forgiving the Council -their last few interactions had proved that- but right now, he was her Grandmaster, and she was his Grandpadawan. They needed each other, especially now.
So Obi-Wan relented, and let her drag him to his quarters.

Padmé, Obi-Wan, Senator Chuchi, and Cody stood in the briefing room. The others had already left, leaving the four of them alone to review the plan one last time.
Obi-Wan looked to the young Pantoran senator. “Senator Chuchi, you are aware of the risks involved in this plan?”
“Yes, I am, Master Kenobi. I am well aware of the potential danger. But if we are to succeed, we must all be put in a little danger. It’s part of every fight, and this is one we must win.”
“Very well. We will depart tomorrow at 0600 hours, and no later,” Obi-Wan said to the group.
“I suggest we all get some rest, then.” Senator Chuchi exited, though Padmé stayed behind to wait for Obi-Wan.
“If you don’t need anything else, Sir, I’ll be going over drills with the men,” Cody said, turning around.
As the Commander walked away, Obi-Wan spoke. “Cody, I don’t suppose you’d like to spar later?” He watched as Cody stopped and turned around, and Obi-Wan kept his face as neutral as possible.
He refused to think about that night, shoving down the memory and all the feelings that came with it.
“I’ll meet you in the training room later, Sir.” Cody gave him a half-smile and put on his helmet, walking out.
Obi-Wan turned to face Padmé, who was grinning mischievously. “So, how long has that been going on?”
He ignored the faint heat on his cheeks. “I’m sure I don’t know what you mean. And if I did, I’d tell you that nothing at all is going on. There is nothing between me and Cody.”
Padmé laughed, the first true laugh he’d heard from her recently. “Keep telling yourself that.” She made for the door, still grinning, much to his chagrin. “Come on, let’s go.”
***
After about two hours of sparring, Obi-Wan sat on the bench. “I think I’ve had enough for today. You?”
Cody laughed tiredly as he sat beside his General. “Same here, Sir.”
“Cody, you can call me Obi-Wan, you know,” his jetii said kindly.
“General-”
“Cody, I insist.” Cody rolled his eyes at Obi-Wan’s words, but said nothing. The two of them sat in companionable, if slightly awkward, silence.
For about two seconds.
“Cody, we-”
“Obi-Wan, I-”
They both stopped, and Obi-Wan gestured for Cody to continue.
“Obi-Wan, I wanted to apologize for what happened that night. I was completely inappropriate, and it won’t happen again.”
He watched as Obi-Wan’s expression changed to one of surprise. “Cody, you don’t have to apologize. We were both tired that night, and stressed. I understand if any emotions were a bit haywire. And I don’t want you to feel uncomfortable, with me being your CO and all. So, shall we agree to… put it behind us?”
Cody hoped the jetii couldn’t sense his emotions at that moment. “Yes, Sir, I can agree to that.”
Obi-Wan nodded, and faced forward again. The silence returned, this time thicker than before. They didn’t move much, except to glance at the other every once and awhile.
Eventually, Cody thought he would burst, so he gathered all the courage he had, and faced Obi-Wan again.
His General turned to him as well. For a second, everything stopped, and neither moved, neither breathed- until the world crashed back to reality, and Cody was-
Cody was kissing Obi-Wan, and Obi-Wan was kissing him back.

Senator Riyo Chuchi was not a coward. Not even close. But nothing could stop her hands from shaking slightly, or anxiety swirling in her chest, as the turbolift sped upwards. She swallowed, which turned into a small cough. Riyo faced forwards still, ignoring the side-eye she got from the Emperor’s aide next to her.
The lift dinged. As the doors opened, Riyo’s eyes fell on the figures in the hallway. Their armor was familiar- but also not. The helmets were different, and no color was painted on, but Riyo assumed there must still be clones under there. And their chips likely deactivated as well, just like the men at the rendezvous.
She walked slowly down the long corridor, and the Emperor’s aide sped up towards the office.
“Wait here, please,” The Aide said, and didn’t stay to hear Riyo’s reply.
Riyo looked to who she assumed was the Commander- they had a shoulder pauldron, and stood closest to the office doors.
The Emperor’s aide walked in, and as the doors slid shut, Riyo put the plan into action.
Signing quickly to the Commander, she said, we need you.
Riyo slowed her gait, careful to keep her hand as concealed as possible. The Commander signed back, almost imperceptibly.
Pardon?
You are you? Not your number? She messaged back. When met with a yes, her lips turned upwards slightly.
Help us. Be prepared for the jetii and the vode.
The Emperor’s aide opened the door again, gesturing Riyo inside the office.
Her heart pounded, and she didn’t look at the Commander, but she was certain the message had been received.
***
“Senator Chuchi, I assure you, the Jedi are not a threat,” The Emperor said to her. Riyo took a deep breath, one she hoped was interpreted as one of fear (which it was, but not of the Jedi).
“And the Delegation of 2000? They will not try to… derail the Senate anymore?”
The Emperor nodded. Riyo felt disgusted by all of this, but she kept it tied down. The galaxy needed her to play her part, just for a little while longer.
“There is no need to worry, Senator. Everything has been taken care of.” Riyo nodded at Palpatine’s words.
A new voice cut in, the door opening. “So sure of that, are you, hmm?”
Riyo whipped her head around. Generals Yoda and Kenobi stood there, along with three of the four Commanders, and Ahsoka.
Palpatine stood. “Guards!”
There was no reply, though the guards stormed the room. But instead of pointing their blasters at the intruders, they trained them on the Emperor himself.
Riyo adjusted the tiny holorecorder fit onto her tunic, and crouched behind a chair against the wall.
The livestream began just as the battle did.
***
A part of Bly wanted to run. Another part wanted to scream. But the bigger part of him kept him where he was.
Which was the balcony of a skyscraper, with a clear vantage point into the Emperor’s office. Bly watched as the battle grew, sniper at the ready.
The Emperor -oh, how Bly hated the Emperor- had his lightsaber ignited, cutting down members of the Coruscant Guard, blocking any attacks from the jetii, but the fight continued on. Each side would progress slightly before being pushed back.
Palpatine deflected any shots directed his way, with his lightsaber and the Force, parrying the Jedi’s attacks all the while. Bly watched as Tano was kicked sharply in the stomach, and was practically slammed against the wall before collapsing on the floor. Rex kneeled over his vod’ika, keeping his pistols firing at the Emperor. Wolffe did the same for Senator Chuchi on the other side of the office, who was currently live streaming the fight for the entire galaxy to see the true nature of their ruler.
Said ruler was now shooting lightning sparks from his fingers, directing it at the two Jedi Masters, who managed to block it- but only just. Bly could tell they were tired.
This fight needed to end. Fast.
He trained his sniper on Palpatine’s moving figure. Rage, so much rage, filled him at the sight. Pain, anger, heartbreak consumed him- he thought of Aayla, of how much he loved her, and Felucia-
His hands shook. The sniper was almost dropped, and Bly’s vision blurred. He gripped his weapon tighter, growling, his jaw clenched.
“I’m sorry, cyare, I’m sorry- I didn’t- I didn’t mean to-” Tears glided down his face.
A warm, almost comforting feeling wrapped around him. It held him in its grasp, protecting him, and it reminded him of Aayla.
Bly remembered her words on Ilum, before everything.
“That was the first time I realized that sometimes you have to give up control to think clearly. Stressing will not achieve anything. Trusting in others, in the Force, having faith that they will guide you; that is how we can move forward.”
Bly took a deep breath, closing his eyes. Did he trust in the Force? Well, he didn’t know how to, really- but he trusted Aayla. He trusted his riduur.
And that was good enough for him.
The sniper focused on the Emperor. He let that feeling of warmth wrap around him, and he pulled the trigger.
The livestream ended, along with Palpatine’s life.
~11 months later~
Padmé stood on the estate’s balcony, watching the Naboo sunset. It casted a glow on her sleeping daughter’s infant face, and she felt at peace.
Padmé had never known what it was like to love someone so much- not in this way. The moment her children were born, she knew she’d do anything for them. Anything. Whether it be protect them, help them, guide them, or simply love them.
She studied Leia’s face. It looked so much like Padmé’s own, though Luke looked like his father. But from what she’d gathered these last few months, their personalities were the opposite.
Luke was serene, and never made too much of a fuss, unless truly upset. But his sister was a different story. She was Anakin’s child, Padmé knew; there was a fire in her that was pure Skywalker.
Padmé’s heart fell slightly at the thought of Anakin. He was currently in a comfortable (comfortable being a relative term) holding facility on Coruscant, visited by a mind healer in the mornings and a therapist in the evenings. Padmé had only seen him once, when the kids were born, but neither Obi-Wan or Ahsoka had been at all.
Both the mind healer and therapist were adamant that Obi-Wan and Ahsoka might trigger things in Anakin, who was only recently taking a turn for the better- and they couldn’t risk his progress.
Padmé felt lonely, sometimes, raising her children alone. She wished Ani was there with her; but she believed that one day, he would be.
She reminded herself she still had Ahsoka, and Obi-Wan, and Cody, and Rex; along with everyone else who she considered to be family now. Obi-Wan and Cody were coming to visit soon, having promised they’d watch the twins while Padmé returned to Coruscant for (hopefully) the passing of the Clone Rights Act.
She was wary of leaving Luke and Leia, but she looked forward to seeing her good friend again, Chancellor Mon Mothma. She’d also meet with Commander Bly, the now representative of the vode in the Galactic Senate.
Padmé couldn’t wait to see her friends again, especially Obi-Wan and Cody; it had been too long since their last visit. She was also aware of how romantic the lake country could be- the perfect place for a proposal. Perhaps there was a wedding in the future?
She knew it was hypocritical, but Padmé had better be invited to Obi-Wan’s wedding. If she wasn’t, there’d be hell to pay.
But that was a discussion for another time. For now, Padmé held her daughter in her arms and walked the house at the sound of Luke’s cries.
She gathered him in her arms, and looked at each of her kids’ faces in turn. Yes, she’d always be there for them, no matter what. She was a fighter, and her children were very much worth fighting for.
It was one of the many things she’d do for love.

And that’s a wrap, folks!
Again, comments are a HUGE motivator to write…. Soo… if it’s okay…. PLEASE COMMENT! okay sorry i’ll stop now.
Hope you enjoyed this series! To anyone who reads this: I am very, very thankful for you.

Well this was quite the supershow. Capped off by one of the greatest matches you’re ever likley to see, the 2018 edition of Dominion from a sold out Osaka-Jo Hall was a show to remember. It started with a good, but unspectacular undercard (which they absolutely sprinted through) but built to a completely blow-away climax, this (along with WK12) is going to be hard to top as far as best card of the year goes. Things started in glorious fashion with new company president, Harold Meij, being revealed to the world, and him doing the Young Lion sprint to the ring. The matches began nicely with the Suzuki-gunners defending the Junior tag straps against CHAOS’ own SHO and YOH of Roppongi 3K. The main problem I have with this one is that it was over in 9:29, which meant even though it was all-action, no doubt, it was probably a little too short to form anything meaningful. The finish saw Kanemaru accidentally blow the whiskey into Desperado’s face, after the masked man missed a low blow, then SHO hit that Last Ride powerbomb into the lung blower for a great near fall. SHO then went for Shock Arrow, but Desperado escapes, bumps the ref, Kanemaru nails SHO with the whiskey bottle, then Desperado locks on a cradle and the champions retain. Juice Robinson pinned Jay White with Pulp Friction to end another good 7 minute doubles outing. The win undoubtedly sets Juice up as the next challenger to White’s US Title, which should happen at the Cow Palace on July 7th. ZSJ caught a Yano low blow between his thighs and turned it into the Breaks Special to win via submission in another really fun (but once again, incredibly short) tag contest in 8:42. The main point of interest here was Ishii and Suzuki’s exchanges, which were just incredibly hard-hitting. These guys haven’t faced each other since the 2013 Kizuna Road show, so hopefully that is on the horizon.
Goto defended the NEVER Title against Big Mike Elgin and Taichi in a 3-way next. This would have worked much better as a straight singles match between Goto and Elgin, who’s hard-hitting exchanges carried this thing. Highlights included Big Mike, who’s dropped a lot of weight, hitting a tope con hilo onto everyone, and Manami Toyota’s Japanese Ocean Cyclone Suplex on the champion for a great near fall. There was a sunset flip/superplex tower of doom spot. The finish saw Elgin powerbomb Taichi into Goto in the corner, then hit the Spiral Bomb for the win and the title in 13:46 of very good action. The decision to give the belt to Elgin is... interesting, to say the least, but as long as he has it, I imagine he’ll have some great defenses, regardless of what you think of him personally. The LIJ duo of EVIL and SANADA defended the Heavyweight Tag Titles against 7 time Jr. Tag champions, The Young Bucks, in the first excellent match of the show (it was also the first not to feel completely rushed through).  This was another of those ‘old school’ style tag bouts the Bucks have been doing the past couple of years, and featured some great work revolving around Nick Jackson missing a kick and hitting the ringpost, and the ensuing sell-job of the foot throughout the rest of the contest, which was just great. Matt did more great, subtle back selling here too. The finish saw everything break down. SANADA applied Skull End to Matt, then did the big swing with him still in the hold, then went up top for the Moonsault, but Matt moved and Cold Skull landed on his feet. Matt hit a big spear on SANADA as he landed, then the Jackson nail both champions with double superkicks, before hitting More Bang For Your Buck on SANADA to win their first Hevyweight belts in 15:03. With the Jacksons now the champions, this very much freshens up a fairly dead-in-the-water division at this point. Then it was the Legends Dream Team 6 man encounter as Liger and Tanahashi teamed with a man making his NJPW debut, Rey Mysterio Jr, to take on Bullet Club’s most nefarious trio; Cody, Marty and Page. This was all good, but again it felt very rushed. Everyone looked good in this thing, hitting all their signature spots, but it was really the Rey Mysterio Show as he looked smooth as ever out there. The finish saw Cody pin Liger with Cross Rhodes at the 11:35 mark. It seems as though Mysterio will potentially face Scurll in San Fran.
With both men coming off amazing performances in the BOSJ, including Hiromu being in what might very well be the best match of 2018 so far in the Final against Ishimori, expectations for the Jr. Title match were sky high. Some very famous pundits thought it might even usurp the main event. Well, suffice it to say, it didn’t and in those respects, despite being a fantastic match, was maybe a bit of a disappointment. I thought that, whilst a lot safer, it maybe wasn’t even as good as their bout together in February. This was still incredible stuff however, they started at a thousand MPH, with Hiromu hitting that overhead throw into the turnbuckles about 10 seconds in, then once outside, Ospreay hit a massive running Senton Atomico off the ramp. Ospreay also hit two reverse ranas in a row. They sensibly slowed down from here, and had a fairly safe high flying match... until Takahashi hit a Canadian Destroyer, and locked in his Triangle Choke 9which I believe he’s calling “D”) that was so well protected in the BOSJ, which Ospreay escaped by lifting him up and dropping him right on his head, which was terrifying. Ospreay with the Robinson Special, and  goes for Oscutter, but its countered and Hiromu hits the sunset flip bomb out of the ring and to the floor, which had been exposed earlier when Takahashi lifted the mats. Hiromu hits the Dynamite Plunger for a great near fall, then tries Time Bomb, but its countered, and Will hits a series of superkicks. A Storm Breaker is turned into the triangle choke, Ospreay tries to power out and Takahashi drops him on his head with that devastating Butterfly Piledriver, hits the Death Valley Bomb into the corner, and connects with the Time Bomb win the belt at the 20:20 mark to a big pop, in the exact same fashion he won the BOSJ. Great stuff.
Then it was I.C. Title time, as Naito defended against Chris Jericho, who was sporting a new look to go with the reinvented personality. This too had a lot of hype, which it too maybe didn’t entirely live up to, but it suceeded in being a wild, intense and believable brawl that was quite unlike anything else on the show. Like a modern day Brody, Jericho attacked Naito before the bell, powerbombing him through a table, then DDTing him onto another, all before the match had started. After a Lionsault and Naito had made the ropes whilst locked in the Walls Of Jericho, Chris pummeled Naito with some stiff shots that left him bleeding from the eye, then Naito fights back, blugeoning the old Lion Heart with the remnance of the broken table, which earned him some boos from the Osaka faithful, whom Naito has a long, storied history with. Naito then hits a piledriver on the time keepers table. Back in the ring, Jericho turns a middle rope Frankensteiner into the Walls, in a very dramatic spot, which saw Naito make the ropes again. There was a moment of miscommunication where a Destino spot was botched, but they finally pulled it off after an slightly awkward pause. After Naito escaped a third Walls, they traded hard slaps to the face like they were Vader and Hansen, which resulted in Naito bleeding fairly heavily from the left cheek, as well as potentially from the ear. Naito wins the exchange, then goes for his patented flying forearm, but Jericho catches him in a Code Breaker for 2. They exchange again and Naito hits Gloria, which looked nasty, and goes for Destino. Jericho escapes by pushing Naito into Red Shoes, hitting a dastardly low blow, then a Code Breaker to win the Intercontinental belt after a 17:16 war. This was something of a surprise, I thought Jericho would probably win, given the Cow Palace on the horizon, but his priority appears to be music these days, so it was up in the air. I’m pleased he won, it shakes things up and really, Naito doesn’t need the belt. Jericho continued the beating in the post-match, but was ran off by EVIL. I can’t lie, a match between Jericho and EVIL doesn’t exactly fill me with great excitement. Of all the guys in New Japan I would pair Jericho with at this point, I realy wouldn’t be going with EVIL, but what do I know?
And then it was main event time. Lets get this out of the way now, this was one of the greatest, most dramatic pro-wrestling matches I’ve ever seen. Is it worthy of more than 5 stars? Undoubtedly, but I still rate things out of five, so thats the max for me, and trust me, this was an easy five in the first fall alone! Many seemed to think these guys had an uphill battle with the 2 out of 3 stipulation, as they theorised no one would buy it ending before the third fall, but honestly the drama writes itself here; The first fall is the most important as whoever wins the first has the advantage, and that makes the second dramatic as it could feasibly end in two straight, then if it does go to three falls, its all back up in the air again. Anyway, I digress. This was nothing short of a wrestling masterpiece. Everything about it was pretty much perfect. The story, the drama, the callbacks, the award worthy selling, it all just worked as these two just click together perfectly. Theres too many layers to even try to get into here, but everything from Omega selling his ribs throughout after a nasty bump into the guardrail, to drama around Ibushi, who cornered Omega, weilding a towel, potentially ready to throw it in at any time, just made this a flawless experience. The first fall alone could have been the WK main event as it was quite the nerve-wracking experience. Okada escapes an attempt at a top rope Dragon Suplex, then kills Kenny with a Tombstone on the apron and hits a great missile dropkick for a near fall. Okada with the top rope elbow, then does the Rainmaker pose, but Kenny takes him out with a Snap Dargon. Okada rolls to the floor where he eats a Terminator Con Hilo as Osaka-Jo Hall goes crazy. Omega tries One Winged Angel but Okada escapes, only to take a V-Trigger and a German for another great near fall. Another V-Trigger connects, but the champion escapes another OWA, and hits the big dropkick. Omega counters the Rainmaker with another V-Trigger and that gets another amazing near fall. Okada hits a tombstone, but the Rainmaker is countered again, this time with a sunset flip, only for Okada to grab the legs and cradle him, Bret/Davey style, for the first fall at the 28:47 mark.
After a 2 minute rest period, action in the second fall commenced at a much faster pace with them brawling around ringside, Omega draped a table over Okada and hit a double stomp off the apron onto it. He then set up the table at ringside for later use seemingly. Kenny hits a reverse rana on the floor for a close 19 count. Another V-Trigger stuns the champion, but he turns an OWA attempt into another Tombstone, then goes for the Rainmaker, only for Omega to turn it into that massive uranage in a callback to their G1 match. Omega starts hitting hard knee strikes, but Okada fights back, he goes for another dropkick, but Omega hits one of his own. Honestly, this was an incredibly stiff dropkick, Kenny hit Kazu so hard, he left a boot print in his chin! Okada again with the dropkick, but Kenny catches him in a sitout powerbomb. Another V-Tigger stuns Okada, but the champ tries the cradle again, but scores a ridiculously close near fall. Another big V-Trigger leaves Okada open for Kenny to hit a Jay Driller, then even the score up after scoring a three count with the One Winged Angel at 19:10 of the second fall.
After wrestling for around 50 minutes, they went into the third fall. Both guys sold exhaustion here perfectly, and Okada needs somekind of acting award for his sells of the V-Triggers. There was no suspension of disbelief here, you bought everything they were doing. Omega with another V-Trigger, but Okada battles back, using all his energy to hit a massive Rainmaker, which Kenny did a wonderful sell for. However, both guys are exhausted and we get the double down. Okada tries a Frankensteiner, but Omega turns it into a Styles Clash for a believable near fall. V-Trigger by Omega, who then hoists Okada up in the OWA, but collapses with exhaustion. Ibushi on the apron trying to fire Kenny up, convinces him to hit the Phoenix Splash, which he goes for, however, the champion moves and Kenny hits nothing but canvas. Kazuchika tries a Tombstone again, but Kenny escapes and hits three more V-Triggers, goes for a fourth, and Okada battles back with two big dropkicks as the white hot Osaka crowd were beside themselves and the announcement of being at the 60 minute mark. The two exchange on their knees, then Kenny changes tact by throwing a big headbutt. As he raises Okada up, the Rainmaker manages to hit the Rainmaker, then another, but as he goes for a third, Omega turns it into a German and holds on, just like Okada does with the Rainmaker, he rolls through and hits another German, but a third is countered into a German by Okada, who holds the wrist and goes for the Rainmaker, but Kenny finally hits another German as Osaka goes bonkers. Kenny with a reverse rana, but when he goes for a V-Trigger, he’s dropkicked out of the air. Okada with the Rainmaker, but Kenny ducks and turns it into the One Winged Angel! Both men are exhausted and try to pull themselves up with the ropes. Kenny gets up first and as Okada is lying prone across the bottom rope, hits a big V-Trigger, then hoists Okada up into the third fall winning OWA to win the match and end the greatest title reign ever at 16:53 of the third fall. Holy shit, what a match!
As Kenny was awarded his belt, The Young Bucks came out and they, Kenny and Ibushi all embraced as streamers filled the ring. Omega cut a promo, saying he isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, proclaimed himself ‘the future of wrestling’, and annpounced the formation of The Golden Elite. Cody appeared on the ramp, but thought better of it and slinked off, letting TGE celebrate in the ring. There’s your potential Cow Palace main event. Its impossible to do this bout justice, it was just insanely good wrestling. Beyond the action, the story it told was just superb. In total, they were out there for 64:50 (or 69:30 if you include the rest periods) and it flew by in what felt like less than thirty. As I say, there was just so much going on here, it was like The Godfather of wrestling matches. Okada won the first fall, so he has the hypothetical bragging rights of saying if it were a regular match, he’d still be champion, and Okada still never once kicked out of the One Winged Angel. I even loved the fact that they set up a table, which is a surefire sign that its going to get used right? Well it didn’t. It just made it feel like everything wasn’t completely planned out.
But what more can be said about Okada’s title reign? I was in attendance at Osaka-Jo Hall at the 2016 Dominion event in which he began his fourth reign by beating Naito in an exceptional match. I didn’t realise it at the time, but I was actually witnessing history, as he went on to hold the belt for two straight years, break the all time record for days as champion, set a new record for defences, and produce two years of some of the greatest matches ever seen. Honestly, I find it hard to believe this reign can be topped by anyone. It’s an albitross around the neck that you’d dethrone such a champion, as having to follow that is nigh on impossible (as poor Takeshi Rikio discovered when he ended Kenta Kobashi’s superb two year GHC reign in 2005) and in many respects, theres no where to go but down. However, if Kenny Omega has proved anything in the last 30 months, its that he’s more than up to the challenge (and lets be fair, he is a million times better worker than Rikio ever was). Even this series with Okada, once you think the zenith has been reached, they would just blow past it again. As much as I loved Okada’s reign, putting the belt on Kenny is 100% the right call in my opinion. It completely freshens things up, offering us completely new feuds and programmes, and it can give Okada a much needed breather, as its been a hell of a two years. Just check this show this out, and specifically the main event, as it was just something else.
