Horror Villains Drabble #1

Plot: The Horror Villain in your lives S/O(Who you were also very close to) has just died, and you’re there to watch them crumple.

Includes: Jason Voorhees, Mayor Buckman and Sheriff Hoyt

Warnings: Angst

Hah, I think these just get shorter and shorter, which is funny because this is not the order I wrote them in.

Jason Voorhees:

Today, I’m going to visit Jason. Who I guess a normal person would my… brother-in-law? Stepbrother-in-law, because his girl was my stepsister. Not that that matters now, she died in a car crash 3 weeks ago. Which is why I’m checking on him, bearing a new tablecloth to lighten up his creepy little cabin and ginger ale. She said once that he liked that stuff, and the tablecloth was my idea. I didn’t know what else to bring him in this situation, since I only met him once! But I thought I should, bring something.

The time I met him was because she wanted someone to know about him, that she trusts. In case something bad happened. Which, evidently, it did. How she knew it would happen? Well, there’s an ongoing news segment dedicated to the investigation they distastefully opened the day of her funeral, when the coroner that checked her out mentioned a gang tattoo hidden on the top of her thigh. Jason doesn’t need to know that part though.

From what I gathered about him when she introduced us and I stuck around with them the day we met and what I remind myself of quickly in my head as I leave the Ford Fiesta I got for my 18th birthday 3 years ago, is that mostly he’s a delicate soul. At least, when it has to do with her, or his mother. Her name’s Pamela, but I hope that doesn’t come up because their relationship scares me and I don’t want much to do with it. I especially don’t want to bring her up to him.

I start walking towards his cabin, recalling other things about him I could mention or just that I should remember. His favourite colour’s green, like oak leaves and definitely not moss. He drowned because some councillors who were supposed to be watching him were getting jiggy with it in the forest, and because of that he has an ingrained hatred and need to eradicate all premarital sex havers.

Pft, that’ll be fine then. My lame ass is still a virgin. Not that I’m bitter about it or that I’m going to mention that, at all.

Finally, I reach the Voorhees’ cabin, which is clearly what is seeing as I can smell the stench of Mum’s rotted head wafting from inside that still haunts my dreams from last time. I put down the bag with his new, green tablecloth, ginger ale and my Christmas cookies -because I need them to get eaten and its been a month and they’re still sitting in my cupboard, and this seemed like a good a time as any. Maybe Jason’ll appreciate the patters I painstakingly iced on them. He supposedly has the brain of a child,- on the ground and stan dup straighter, biting the inside of my lips.

Taking a cautious step forward, wondering whether I should knock even though the door’s open, I call carefully. “Jason? Hey, it’s Y/N. (Your Stepsisters Name)’s, sister? We met, and I just wanted to check on you. She asked me to.”

When in doubt, make sure he knows who I am and my connection to her. She’s his soft spot.

No answer.

I shuffle to the side, seeing if I can get a glimpse inside the house and see if he’s actually in there, without overstepping and walking on in. “I brought ginger ale- “

Suddenly heavy footsteps come up behind me and stop close by. I whip around, and suddenly I feel like a fly in comparison to the giant that is Jason Voorhees. I soften my expression and pick up the bag, offering it to him. “Did you hear all that?”

He nods.

“Is it okay that I’m here?”

Again, he nods. I let my muscles relax, and go to sit down on the moulding, termite ravished porch. Before I start taking things out of the bag, I peer up at him, and make sure this is okay. “Is it okay that I sit here? I’ll get up if its not, its okay.”

No nod this time, I guess he got tired of it which is understandable- I would too if that was my only mode of communication. Instead, he walks over, movement weirdly purposeful, and sits down beside me. The wood moves worryingly under his weight, but stays sturdy thank god.

I flash him a kind smile, and start showing him what’s in the bag. Once I’m finished, I decide to cut straight to the chase, because he is not responding to any of this. Not even the snowman cookie awakened a reaction, and that one is freaken masterful. I turn to him, as he holds gently onto the ginger ale between his knees but doesn’t open it, and drop my forearms onto my knees. “So, Jason. Sweetheart, you gotta tell me o-or… Morse code to me, or whatever if you’re okay or not. Because that’s what I’m here for. For her, and therefore you are too. You get me?” I peer up at him, hoping he understands. Because I’m already getting emotional, and I don’t want to start crying again. I will, if we have to go through this painstakingly slowly.

Again, he doesn’t nod. But he does turn his head to look ahead of him and away from me, which I take as him understanding, but avoiding the conversation.

But hey! At least he isn’t walking off or stabbing me. Swallowing, and taking a deep breath, because we have to do this and theirs a tiny part of me that wants to for him and not for her, although the brunt of it is for her, I carry my pointer finger up and ever so gently pat the bottom of his mask. He turns slightly to look at me, and I look softly, empathetically at him. “I, for one, feel terrible.”

His shoulders relax the tiniest bit, so I go on. “I-I mean… I didn’t know her my whole life. Our parents got married when she was already 12. But I was 8, and she was my big sister after that. And, she was… the better one of us! Its true! I mean, you fell for her! And, from what I can tell you have trust issues. Rightly so, but still. She broke through that because she was so good. I can’t… “I let out a heavy breath, but not looking away because I’m brave. “Help, but think that… it should’ve been me, and not her. Okay?” Ohhh god. That sure doesn’t become easier the more times you say it… More a moment, I allow myself to pause. Worry my lip, look away. Then I push back my hair behind my ears and look back at hum, refreshed. Surprising me, when I look back, he’s looking at me. I whisper. “Is that how you feel?”

A moment of meaning passes, before slowly he nods. A more meaningful significant, and consequential then the other nods -other movements, -, simply because its slower. It feels like he’s seriously agreeing with me, like he’s saying ‘Yes, yes. That’s how I feel, I agree. You aren’t alone’.

Its honestly the most understood that I’ve felt since she died. Even her mother wouldn’t look up from the funeral pamphlet and I haven’t seen her since. But Jason, feels like me. Just another flavour, and another face.

Taking a deep breath, with tears filling my eyes now, I nod and take his hand. “Yeah… yeah. I’m sorry about that.”

“One day it’ll get better.”

Mayor Buckman:

I cross my arms and lean back on the house, watching the townspeople as the go about their day. One in particular, troubles me who I don’t let up my disappointed gaze on for minutes, as he bobs through town with an obnoxious smile on his face. All week, I’ve watched Buckman to make sure he’s okay after the funeral, and he’s failed every single test.

She entrusted me with his wellbeing and health, and I’m going to take it seriously. Because, although I don’t have as high a appreciation for his existence as she did due to him… well, trying to kill me and feed me to his crazy people, I acknowledge how he changed, for her. While she was here, the death toll in Pleasant Valley went down to all time low from the last century. Because, he had something to continue for, I guess.

But now he’s desperate to go, and although that makes sense, and I can accept it, even if it meant my last connection to her would be lost, he’s going too fast. He hasn’t even given himself time to mourn. She died, and he’s acting like she just left and he’s going to be seeing her real soon. Which, of course, may be true… But she died. Its going to tear him apart if he doesn’t sit down a second and stop grinning so crazy wide.

It’s a bit scary, actually. How full on he is right now.

As a couple new victims -teenagers, on spring break. Nothing new, - who’ve agreed to stay the night go to the room’s they’ll be staying in, our revered Mayor disappears into his home, uncharacteristically. Curious, I push off the wall and follow. “Buckman?”

“Oh,” Is the only response at first, which I take as ‘Please, come in!’, and do. It’s a very wonky ‘Oh’, coming out twisted around every which way, like you were feeling one way and tried to sound a different way. Chewing the inside my cheek, I creep across loud ass floorboards to the livingroom. There, he’s standing by the window with the blinds closed. He looks tired as hell, somehow. I don’t know how a ghost can look so exhausted, but he does. And it’s a weird thing to see on the usually vibrant southerner. “I was just looking for my good handkerchief, this one’s got the wrong pattern- doesn’t match.”

“Oh, stop it.” I walk on in and sit myself down on the couch, patting the spot beside me for him, bossily. “Why don’t you just mourn?”

He gives me a forced smile, not at all in it, and pointedly refuses to sit with me. Oh, boy. “One doesn’t mourn, when you know you’ll see them again soon.”

Okay, ignoring the fact that neither of us know exactly what happens after you really die and he could just disappear into nothingness rather then see her again because we don’t want to make him mad… Changing tact, I turn to him inquisitively. “Buckman, what are you gonna do when you see her again? What do you wanna do?”

“Ah, well, first I’ll intend to hug the stuffing out a’ her, but after that I believe it’s become a bit personal, and we don’t have that relationship my dear.”

“Okay.” Let’s move past that, because the last thing I want in my head is this man and my sisters bedroom activities. My face darkens determinedly, causing Buckman to squint suspiciously at what I’m about to throw at him. “Well, if you don’t sit down and be sad for more then the 2 seconds it takes for you to meaninglessly switch handkerchiefs, you won’t have the energy to do that. You’ll probably faint, if you can even do that in heaven or… wherever you’re going, and then there will be no hugging.” His face darkens, because he knows I’m right. I lean forward towards him, and reiterate. “No hugging. Zip!”

“Okay!” He raises his hands, begging me to stop causing a self-satisfied smile to come to my face. For a moment more, he thinks -I’m sure, - about leaving and avoiding this again like he has bene since she died, but catches my eye and that does it. He gives a defeated sigh, and sits down beside me. I change my expression to sympathetic, because I know how he feels. She was my sister. I loved her, too.

Awkwardly, I drop a couple pats on his back, as he sits doubled over with his face in his hands. Then even ore awkwardly, I cough into my shoulder. “Tea?”

“Ahhh, yes please.”

Sheriff Hoyt / Charlie Hewitt:

I grip my spoon so tightly that my knuckles go completely white, but I let him go. Hoyt leaves the room, and the house, and I manage not to scream at him to come back and face me, because Luda Mae asked me to. That’s the only reason I didn’t throw the spoon at him.

… But, he’s crossed a line.

So, I push out of the seat and stomp past Thomas in his breakfast seat and Luda Mae pouring him water and out the door after him. “Oh, Charlie!!”

“Who the fuck- “He turns around, as he was heading for his car and his eyes land on me. Immediately they darken from being irritated, to mad and promptly, sticks up his middle finger at me. I grit my teeth, reach him and snatch it out of the air, throwing his hand back to his side. “What do you want, I’m a busy man.”

“You’re fucking unemployed, shut your trap.” I point with my thumb back into the house, and incredulously at him. “What the hell was that?? I haven’t seen a face like that on Luda Mae… e-ever. Ever. I have never seen her that hurt. What the fuck??”

The look Luda’s face appears in the forefront of my mind again, that appeared on her delicate features right after Hoyt told her to ‘shut the fuck up’. He has never used language like that at her before. God, her face. It was a horrible mix of shocked, and destroyed. She thought, we all thought, that if Hoyt still cared and respected anyone in this family then it was her. Evidently, we were wrong. The fire in my eyes intensify, thinking about the flagrant disrespect. To her! Of all people! That sweet woman! Since I came here, with (Your Friend Who Was With Hoyt’s Name), she has been the kindest.

Hoyt, the least kind. So, I feel zero guilt in tearing him a new one out here.

Oh, you go ahead and flare those nostrils at me Hoyt, I’m not moving. “It’s a family matter, you can stick your nose out of it.”

“Oh,” I say, clutching my heart. “I’m wounded!” He doesn’t think I’ve heard that one before? Well, he’s more of a moron then I thought. “Bottom line, Hoyt, I haven’t seen you be that awful, since you fell in love with- “

“Don’t you dare say her name.” He warns, opening the car door and plopping himself in the front seat. He tries to slam the door shut, but I plant myself between him the door, and hold it open making him deeply sigh. Seeing I wasn’t about to leave, he promptly picks up his gun and a rag and starts cleaning it.

“The person you became with her is worth being. She would never forgive you if you crumpled now. I, would never forgive you.” I point to the house again. “She’s turning in her grave!!”

Hoyt scoffs, a cough of a laugh nearly, and continues to wipe his gun off- of what? I have no idea. He’s just cleaning his gun. Which looks perfectly clean to me. “Well she ain’t here, is she?” He looks up at me next, and the look in his eyes is cold, but not cold enough to force me to back down. “And I don’t remember us ever being friends.”

“Hah, we weren’t.” We will never be. “But guess what? I’m here and I’m here to stay. I won’t let you spiral into a crotchety mess, or even more of a disgusting mess then you’ve always been even with her. And I won’t exactly like it, but I’ll live with it. Because- “

“I don’t need any of your help, honey- “

“Because,” I continue, through grit teeth. His eyes flash at getting cut off, and of course, I revel in it. “I loved her too. I won’t let you become something she would hate. She loved you. Far be it me to understand why, but she did. You could see it in her face, and the way she talked to you. And it hurts so bad, imagining what she might be thinking, watching you now. If she could see you, if she’s seeing you, whatever your stance on religion, she would be heartbroken.”

He looks up, and this time squints at me. “You think I care what she would feel?”

At that little remark, I slam the door in his face, and lean close to the window. “Yes.”

Fork or Chopsticks?

When eating in an Asian restaurant, I'm always plagued with the same question and everlasting internal battle – should I just use the chopsticks or ask for a fork? Naturally, everyone assumes I'm more comfortable using the chopsticks since I am half Chinese and half Filipino. However, once I open my mouth and a fluent Aussie accent comes pouring out, one would definitely question my natural instincts. Being brought up by an Asian family in a Western, albeit proudly multicultural society like Australia has been in a word: challenging. The differences between the cultures are so prominent, they punch me in the face almost every day. Instead of comparing apples with oranges, I'm comparing dumplings with VB. Others in similar situations would attest that the struggles usually come from their persistent parent/s. In my case, it's my dad, my mum and her parents (my Kung Kung and Popo) who regularly make me feel like I'm disappointing them for not upholding the Chinese ways, traditions, superstitions and philosophies. My mum is still somewhat mortified when ordering food in a Chinese restaurant, all I want are the “gweilo” (a.k.a. ghost man – meaning white people) dishes like special fried rice, and sweet and sour pork. I have been living in Australia since I was 3 years old so my palate definitely prefers dishes like that over chicken feet, animal organs like livers, tongues, and any others not for the feint of heart (or stomach).

Growing up in Australia and being raised by the Asian ways made things like sleep overs and staying out past midnight nearly impossible. My dad was always too afraid to let me sleep over at my friends’ houses in fear that their parents would, in his words, “rape” me. His paranoia and overprotective parenting style definitely backfired on him during my teenage years. The teenage rebellion ruined our relationship for the good part of a decade. Nevertheless, in my earlier years, I had to do the quintessentially Asian after-school activities like tutoring and piano lessons. My mum would always and still usually speaks to me in Cantonese and my replies are in English. My dad, who let's be clear, doesn't speak Cantonese as he is Filipino and only speaks Tagalog or English, would yell at me when I was a kid for not using my native tongue (even though he couldn't understand most of the conversations which occurred between my mum, my sister and me). You would think that a brother would want to be in the know but apparently, he was quite happy just sitting there pretending that he understood.

I can't speak for Western families but I'm of the opinion that Asian parents tend to be the most strict. When it comes to children's behaviour, my dad's ultimate requirement and demand is respect. Thou shalt show thy father respect at all times, even when he's wrong (especially when he's wrong) or suffer the wrath of the ego bruised Filipino man. Trust me, it isn't pretty. It's like arguing with an infuriated, irrational and deaf gorilla. When living with my dad as a kid, next to respect, he also valued saving 'face'. We were required to answer the phone like we were running a hotel, “Good morning, thanks for calling. This is Cat speaking”. He also made us fold the toilet paper into a point like Housekeeping just on the off chance a guest (one of his mates that he was trying to schmooze) came to the house and needed to use the loo.

At school, most of my friends were Australians. I only had a few Asian mates but I still found I had more in common with my Aussie friends. I wasn't focused on my studies. I just wanted to chat, gossip and party. Being one of the only Asians in my close circle of friends was interesting to say the least. I remember on my learner's driving licence, under skin colour my mum told me to write 'yellow'. What am I, Lisa Simpson? Still to this day I find it baffling that Chinese people can be so intelligent yet so clueless in as many ways. The literal translation for my family's nickname for me was ‘fat pig bread’. Chinese people won't blink an eye if one of their friends told them they are fat or look like they've gained weight. You do that to an Australian and you may be sporting dark eye shadow on one eye by the end of the conversation.

And don't get me started on the bad driving! My husband and I have an ongoing joke that nine times out of ten a bad driver that we see on the road will usually be Asian. It's like our genes were too focused on ensuring that we all master the abilities of studying and reading that they ran out of juice in the coordination department. Perhaps we shouldn't handle heavy machinery because if I had a dollar for every time I witnessed an Asian lady reversing out of a parking space at a pace slower than the ice caps melting, I'd be able to purchase the Richmond AFL team twice over.

I've also noticed that many Asians are clean freaks and I am a self professed clean freak myself. Germs, dust and outside dirt are not our friends. Many Chinese families in Hong Kong will not only ask you to remove your shoes before entering their houses but also provide you with their own guest slippers so that your bare feet or potentially dirty socks don't soil their clean homes. I'm guilty of owning a few pairs of boot covers but I have yet to find the courage to ask a tradie to use them as the thought of the sheer embarrassment of requesting that they slip on my blue, swan print bootie protectors has overridden my fear of their shoe dirt thus far. My husband has had the toughest time having to compromise or succumb to my non-negotiable cleaning standards. The poor man worked as a gardener for some years and I'd make him undress outside to prevent getting grass and dirt inside the house. If any neighbours looked over at that time, they probably would have been mentally scarred from the sight of his white, hairy legs. Upon reflection, my OCD cleanliness could just be my individual personality trait instead of an Asian thing but I definitely have the nagging Asian wife bit down pat. My mum has taught me well for sure. It's known to some that the language of Cantonese naturally sounds more 'naggy' than Mandarin due to the elongated sounds we make after a statement. Nevertheless, all the nagging does come from a good place. Chinese people can be quite negative and adopt the ‘glass is half empty’ attitude but it all still does come from a good place.

Nonetheless, I've had my little rant but I welcome others who are in the same boat to share their crazy Asian family stories so we can have a laugh together or share if you would just like to have a vent.

Gang rape victim speaks about seeing her attacker Yaqub Ahmed on video

The 27-year-old mother sitting beside me on a suburban park bench is trembling with a mixture of fear and rage. She can barely suppress her anger as she recalls the moment she watched a video of a refugee being escorted from an aircraft at Heathrow after a mutiny by passengers halted his deportation.

As The Mail on Sunday revealed last year, that man was Yaqub Ahmed, a Somalian who a decade earlier had been convicted and jailed with three others for a sickening gang rape.

Today his victim breaks her silence and, in an exclusive interview, condemns the holidaymakers who stepped in to defend him, ignorant of the horrifying attack that ripped her life apart.

In the video, filmed by a passenger, Ahmed, 29, is seen screaming as a group of people on board bellow at officials to ‘take him off the plane!’

For Hannah (not her real name), those pantomime-style cries were as nothing compared to her terrified screams as she fought for her life during Ahmed’s gang’s attack in a dingy flat in North London in August 2007 when she was just 16.

‘You think that was a bad scream? Try hearing the screams that I made,’ says Hannah in a powerful message to the ‘bleeding heart’ passengers who decided to intervene in Ahmed’s deportation.

And she asks them: ‘How could you defend a rapist? How could you intervene? He was in handcuffs, he was being taken out of the country… who are you people to interfere with justice?

‘Fair enough you didn’t know the situation, but now I hope you feel proud of yourselves because you stopped something that I have waited for for so long: something that made me feel that little bit safer.’

Her four tormentors were jailed for a total of 35 years and, while one is believed to have died after fleeing to Syria to fight for the Islamic State group, she is haunted by the thought of seeing the others who have now been released and remain in the UK.

Ahmed’s deportation would have given Hannah a modicum of comfort, but since the failed attempt to kick him out, her mental health has collapsed.

Yaqub Ahmed, 29, was convicted of gang raping a 16-year-old in a North London flat in 2007

Already struggling to cope with the complex post traumatic stress disorder triggered by her rape, she is now too terrified to travel more than two miles from her home. In November she quit a job that she loved due to her mounting anxiety and stress.

‘A lot of the time I just feel hopeless, it’s never going to end, I’m never going to get away from it,’ she says. ‘They need to deport him. How have they allowed this to happen? It’s an absolute farce. I thought there was meant to be victim’s rights. Where are my rights here?’

Officials escorting Ahmed on the flight to Turkey last October abandoned his deportation shortly before take-off after around a dozen passengers – unaware of his sickening crime – took pity on him and angrily intervened. The three-and-a-half minute video posted online showed passengers waving camera phones amid a barrage of shouts and whistles. One bearded British man in a blue T-shirt approached Ahmed before telling fellow passengers: ‘He says they’re separating him from his family, his family’s here.’

Another man jabbed his finger at an official and, drawing his finger across his throat for dramatic effect, barked: ‘When he gets to Mogadishu, they’re going to kill him.’

Ahmed’s victim, known as Hannah for this article, spoke to the Mail on Sunday about seeing the video of her attacker

To applause from the passengers, the four-strong Home Office team finally relented and frog-marched Ahmed from the aircraft as one holidaymaker shouted: ‘You’re free man!’

Hannah was unaware of the failed deportation until she read this newspaper’s front page story five days later and realised Ahmed was one of her rapists.

Eventually she summoned the strength to click on the video and, as she sat in her bedroom, was horrified by what she saw. ‘I couldn’t bring myself to watch the video at first, I just read the article, but when I finally did watch it, I was in my room and it was just awful. I got so angry and upset,’ she says.

‘I feel like I should have been told, so I didn’t have to find out in the way that I did.

‘I just didn’t want to see his face again. They applauded and cheered and said, “You’re free man!” It just enraged me.’ Five months later, Ahmed remains in an Immigration Removal Centre at a cost to taxpayers so far of at least £18,000.

Home Office sources say the Government is still planning to deport him, although he appears to have launched yet another appeal.

He was listed to appear before an immigration tribunal in Nottingham on March 14. Both the Home Office and the tribunal last week refused to reveal the outcome of the hearing.

For Hannah, the intense focus on Ahmed’s botched deportation has brought horrific memories of the incident from 11 years ago flooding back.

By her own admission, she was a wayward teenager and by the age of 16 had moved out of the family home and was living in a hostel.

Her life changed after she enjoyed a night out at the Zoo Bar in London’s Leicester Square. After becoming separated from her friend she was approached by a man – now known to be Adnan Mohamud – who persuaded her to go to a flat in Crouch End on the false pretext that her friend was there waiting for her.

‘I couldn’t find her and I had no phone or bus pass. She had everything,’ Hannah recalls. ‘I was calling out and this guy approached at me and said, “Your friend has gone with one of our friends.” ’

She then recalls the terrifying moment she realised that she had been lured into a trap.

‘I got to the place and my friend wasn’t there. They said she had gone to the shop and that she was coming back.’ She buries her head into a pale blue scarf and sobs, before bravely continuing: ‘They did what they did. They held me down. They took turns.

The passengers told Home Office officials that the man was being separated from his family

‘I kept trying to get at them. That’s why they had me on my front, so I couldn’t get to them easily and then one of them turned me over and I got him by the neck. I just felt this adrenaline. I remember just grabbing him, trying to get any part of him, trying to grab his face. I was trying to bite and claw.’

Hannah punched one of her attackers, only to be punched back. Despite being stunned by the blow, she managed to force her way past the men and escape, tumbling down a flight of stairs as she fled.

By the time she burst free, neighbours who had heard her screams had alerted police who arrested the men at the scene.

Despite overwhelming forensic evidence, the men, aged between 18 and 20 at the time, denied rape, forcing Hannah to relive the ordeal during several days of cross-examination at a trial. It left her even more traumatised. ‘They had four barristers and they were saying some awful things to me. The things they said to me messed me up for years.’

One man yelled out ‘you’re free man’ after Ahmed was escorted off the plane and back to Heathrow Airport

Yaqub Ahmed, then 19 and living in Clerkenwell, North London; Adnan Mohamud, 19, who lived in the flat where the rape took place; and Adnan Barud, 21, from Holloway, North London, were each jailed for nine years for planning and carrying out the rape. A fourth man, Ondogo Ahmed, 19, also of Holloway, received eight years for conspiracy to rape.

As he sentenced them, the judge said their actions would have a severe psychological impact on their victim – an assessment that has tragically proved only too true.

Various therapies have so far failed to help Hannah, who has struggled to access the specialised mental health care she needs. ‘The PTSD thing is the worst because that can come in at any time. Certain things will just trigger me off.’

Ondogo Ahmed, was one of one of Yaqub’s accomplices. He disappeared from the UK and died while fighting for ISIS in 2013

Hannah says her primary school-aged daughter has provided something to live for but fears her anxiety affects their relationship. ‘She is my world but I am not able to be the best mum at the minute. She has seen me crying recently and its hard – it’s spilling out into my mothering duties.’

Hannah, who has now moved out of London, contrasts her struggle to find help with the huge sums of taxpayers’ money spent on Yaqub Ahmed, who is thought to have been granted refugee status after arriving in Britain from Somalia as a youngster.

Last month, The Mail on Sunday revealed how Ahmed’s lawyers had been reimbursed £3,339 in legal aid for their work in challenging his detention and removal between 2010 and 2016. The solicitor and barrister who acted for him at his Crown Court trial got £28,000 and his ongoing stay in a detention centre is believed to cost £100 a day.

Ahmed is not the only gang member the Government has failed to kick out.

Mohamud, also born in Somalia, was released from prison in May 2013 and initially told that he was not liable for deportation.

The Home Office reversed that position eight months later when the security situation in Somalia improved, but he has been fighting the move ever since. A spokesman for his legal firm Fountain Solicitors declined to comment.

Meanwhile, Barud, who was released in July 2014, cannot be deported because, while born in Somalia, he has British citizenship.

Ondogo Ahmed, who is thought to have been born in Eritrea, was released in 2012 and, despite being on licence, astonishingly managed to sneak out of Britain and join IS in Syria. The Ministry of Justice told Hannah earlier this month that he is believed to have been killed there but ‘there is still an outstanding warrant for his arrest, should this information not be correct’.

She is understandably astonished that he was able to flee. ‘How was he allowed to abscond when he was meant to be on licence? Isn’t that their job, to be keeping tabs on dangerous individuals?’ But Hannah saves her anger for the officials on the deportation flight.

‘They should have executed their job, which is to calm things down, to tell the passengers if they don’t stop causing trouble they will be removed from the flight just like any other unruly passenger.

‘The more they stuck up for him, the more he screamed. It’s like a kid having a tantrum, the more attention you give that kid, the worse their screams get.’

She thinks the passengers were seized by a ‘mob mentality’.

‘It’s the bleeding heart brigade. They see someone in handcuffs and they are assuming it’s an injustice.

Hannah was particularly aggrieved at the Home Office officials who took Ahmed off the plane

‘Those people should have realised it takes a lot to get someone deported, maybe we shouldn’t interfere. It was just people who wanted to do a good deed and feel proud of themselves.’

Sarcastically clapping their actions, she adds: ‘Well, I hope you all feel proud of yourselves.’

Hannah says she has decided to speak out in the hope that her attackers are finally booted out of the UK. Her pleas for information from the Home Office fell on deaf ears until The Mail on Sunday intervened and a Victim Support Team got in touch.

A Home Office spokesman said: ‘We are determined to protect the public by removing foreign national offenders who commit criminal offences. We are committed to ensuring that the victims of foreign national offenders receive the information they are entitled to should they request it.’

But Hannah despairs of the glacial deportation process and, appallingly, it is she who is now considering leaving Britain.

‘I just want to be able to move around freely, and until I know that they are out of the country I’m never going to get that peace,’ she says. ‘It shouldn’t have come to this. It should have happened already. All I want to do is have the opportunity to rebuild, to recover. I just want what everyone else has.’

Long story short (hopefully)...My 17 yr old step-son got his license just after his b-day last yr and my husband stupidly bought him an undeserved car (we have had nonstop issues with him for over 2 yrs with his disrespectful and insulting/criticizing attitude, refusing to follow house rules, his very poor, negative and selfish behavior on top of his constant lies and his drug and alcohol use and continues to bring it around my 4 yr old son). Needless to say after receiving 4 tickets under 6 months for either having too many kids in car or driving past allowed hours to be driving because he refuses to follow our rules or the law and feel they do not apply to him. He completely trashed the car, it reeked of cigarettes and pot, we found empty beer cans and other cans used to smoke his pot. We took the car away and cleaned it the best we could and after a few months of him still continuing his behavior and habits we sold the car. He bullies his mom and sister (always has) and took his moms keys and her car from her and will not return it. I know we are legally responsible for him until he turns 18 which isn't too much longer BUT he is getting worse with everything, my husband has given up on him and just lets him come and go as he pleases and do what he wants (he claims he will kick him out on his bday but no one believes him b/c of many past threats not followed through and his kids know it so they continue to play him), I'm told to stay out of it because he isn't my son yet he is still on MY insurance and driving his mom's car while drinking and smoking pot and continuing not to follow the law with his restrictions either. I can't wait for this ungrateful punk to be out of my house. He constantly badmouths all of us with lies to everyone and blames us when things don't go his way. He has always been extremely lazy and does not want to work, he keeps forcing his mom to give him money which she does b/c she claims she is afraid of him, he has NEVER helped with anything around the house, he has already been in trouble a few times with the police as young as 12 when he wouldn't follow skateboarding rules. This kid needs a major attitude adjustment and a kick in the *** but no one will do it and I'm not allowed to say anything to him about anything but I'm so sick and tired of having to keep my mouth shut and watch everything he says and does to his family yet I am to provide insurance for this a@%hole. OK, so I got my car insurance renewal to start on 16 May, and it went up from 40 a month to 60, for no gosh darned reason. Grrr. I know that the insurance has gone up a lot, and I think they blame the compensation claims for this, but up a THIRD! Jeeeeeez! Last year, it went up from 35 a month to 50 and I had a whinge down the phone at them, and they reduced it to 40 by changing the recovery a bit (I don't get help now unless I am more than a mile from home; but the chances are I would be when I broke down anyway, and even if I was half a mile away, I could walk back!) so I agreed to change that. So I rang them today and they said they can lower it a fiver because I am a 'loyal' customer, (so down to 55 a month.) Big deal! I am nearly 40, I passed my test 20 years ago, and I have been with them 10 years and NEVER made a claim, and yet they bump my premium by a third! I am like It's a LOT of dosh. Does this seem like a ludicrous leap to you? Has yours gone up a lot too? Does this sound like a high amount to pay? (55 to 60 a month.) Or reasonable for a 38 year old woman? It does include recovery in this quote, and the recovery is about 130. But 2 years ago, I was paying 35, and this year they are asking for 60 a month! i got a car accident on 2/09/10 around 11:45pm, and when i got the police report, it says 00:05am 2/10/10, it really doesnt matter to me at the first moment when i got the report. I tried to claim the insurance, but the agent told me that the other guy has no insurance covered, it's either expired or dont have it. And few days later, i got a letter from The Hartford , stating that: we received your claim request for a loss on 02/09/2010. According to our records, this policy was cancelled effective 2/9/10 for non-payment. We are unable to honor this cliam because the loss occurred after the policy was cancelled. I was so ****** up, i mean, can they do it on purpose ? just because they dont want to pay me ? If so what can i do ? How am i gonna claim my loss ? my car is totaled. I went to do a body checkup...everything is fine, and my health insurance covered that, but can i claim the bill with my car too ? I asked my agent, and it seems like she doesnt help, knows nothing about how to do and doesnt even help, worst agent ever. She suggests me to go to Small Amount Claim Court to file a complaint, because she cant claim the loss from the other guy. So, my questions is, what should i do ? go to the court and file a compalint ? or any advice ?
