i thought my laptop was on its last leg because it was running at six billion degrees and using 100% disk space* at all times and then i turned off shadows and some other windows effects and it was immediately cured. i just did the same to my roommate's computer and its performance issues were also immediately cured. okay. i guess.

so i guess if you have creaky freezy windows 10/11 try searching "advanced system settings", go to performance settings, and uncheck "show shadows under windows" and anything else you don't want. hope that helps someone else.

solomon really is the devs' favorite, huh. not once have they disappointed with a solomon-centered event, dialogue, or scene (save for the change in his last birthday event). they just... carve him out so meticulously compared to everyone else because his thoughts and actions have flowed so smoothly compared to when we first met him?

when we met him, you could view him as arrogant or a bit odd and eccentric, because the basis of him greeting you seems to be out of curiousity. during his hdd card, he even admits that he didn't pay much mind to mc other than being curious of what they were going to do, but his affections slowly grew the more his eyes were opened to new experiences and perspectives.

now, we get a solomon who doesn't solely focus on his experiments or ancient texts, but also confronts people when they step out of line or cross a boundary because he maintains his ability to be kind. he never insults others, he makes sure that everyone's needs or wishes are met, but not to the point where he sacrifices his own wishes. his recent birthday in which he gifted everyone their modified trinkets & gadgets on his own birthday is proof of that.

if someone treats him with contempt, he normally doesnt hold it against them because he's perceptive enough to note where that bitterness is coming from.

there aren't many people caught up with the hard mode lessons, but (s4 spoilers) he's highly aware of how lonely thirteen is, and comes by to visit her on the rare occassion as though she were a neighbor, much to her disdain. he caught onto simeon's doomed fate far before it happened when he noted how 'different' simeon's philosophies were from the collective behavior that is associated with the celestial realm. once simeon dealt with the consequences, solomon was the first to confront him. again. and again. and again. no matter how much simeon denied it or rejected everyone around him, solomon was the one to understand how lonely it can be to deal with something all on your own.

and it's why we see him agreeing to play cards with mammon although everyone else believes it to be a waste of time, allowing leviathan to be himself when no one else can keep up with his passionate rants, always responding to satan's endless inquiries and gathering cats for his birthday every year, indulging in asmodeus' invitations to go shopping or do spa days when everyone else believes it to be draining, checking on beelzebub when others fail to note his subtle sadness or struggle, inviting belphegor to overview his experiments he needs help with when no one bothers to invite him anywhere because they're under the impression that belphegor will turn them down.

for the less notable people, solomon also cleverly checks on lucifer's state by asking for a pact every time he sees him as a greeting, he constantly works with diavolo to ensure that they both meet compromises for the program, he is the person that barbatos entrusts his own life to (grimoire), he is someone that luke can trust without fail, and as i've mentioned earlier, someone who makes sure that simeon doesn't harm himself or the people around him and visits thirteen's lonely cave even when he isn't wanted there.

i haven't seen much interaction with raphael and mephistopheles when it comes to solomon, but solomon is always happy to finally share his cooking with someone who adores it and makes sure that he helps raphael with chores around (albeit horribly..). if i remember correctly, too, he regularly speaks with mephistopheles behind the scenes.

and as for mc? not once has he stepped over their boundaries. he is confident in himself, but he never assumed anything of mc--in fact, he was the first one to ever show faith in them being able to reach their fullest potential by sharing his own power with them for a few hours, just to see what they could do. he is confident when sharing his affections, but he always humbly backs down when he's unsure of how mc will react. prime example is during the planetarium event where everyone spent time with mc and solomon chose to give mc some space instead of selfishly hoarding them to himself because he noticed how tired they looked, and wanted them to focus on relaxing.

bottom line, though, i think that if you pay close attention to solomon throughout the story, whether it be in devilgrams, events, daily chats, or the main story itself, you'll notice how consistent and well-written he is compared to nearly every character. i enjoy him very much and thought of sharing this with all of you to see what you think :] i'm aware that i'm biased, though, haha--very much so.

I Love To Shoot At Trouble

During the Steam Christmas Sale I ended up buying Need for Speed: Most Wanted 2012 because it was like $6 or $7 and I'm in the mood for a new racing game to chew up. EA already gave the game away for free in like 2015, but that meant installing "The EA App". I figured having it on Steam would be more convenient.

You'd think so.

It's not! As part of the first time launch, it installs "The EA App" anyway, which also means it found and uninstalled whatever version of Origin I still had (I wasn't aware I'd ever reinstalled Origin since my HDD crash). As part of this process, it also asked me for my EA password, I misread Firefox's stored password incorrectly, and went through the trouble of resetting my EA account with a new password before linking it to Steam. To my surprise, EA's been sitting on my seven year old cloud save from the few minutes I played of this on Origin in 2017, and asks if I want to import it. Sure, I guess.

So that's ten minutes down the drain before I can even boot up the game. Okay, fine, the game finally launches. Gotta wait while it boots up The EA App each time before it boots into the game, gotta wait for the title screen logo animation, gotta wait for a 10-15 second load screen because even though this game came out in 2012 it's gotta ping some always-online "Autolog" leaderboard whatever. Once it connects, it has to do a slow cinematic pan across your car, telling you what your online rivals have done since the last time you connected, and what kind of equipment you have on your car.

All told, every time you boot up Most Wanted 2012, you're looking at a 30-45 second wait before the game actually hands over control and lets you start driving.

Pull the accelerator and instantly Most Wanted SCREAMS at me:

Fair enough. I'm using a Dualshock 4, and the Playstation 4 did not release until over a full year after this game. Click to the menu it's asking of me and see that the control binding menu is awful -- it's one of those super oldschool ones, like binding keys one by one in Doom 2. I have no idea what these buttons are supposed to be in terms of Xbox equivalents, and I realize that Steam has this thing called "Steam Input" that's supposed to be handling all of this anyway. Steam Input generally makes my Dualshock 4 look like an Xbox controller to most games.

I exit out of Most Wanted, force Steam Input to "on" (I was messing with its settings recently, so I thought maybe it was disabled), and relaunch the game again. Wait for the EA App to boot up, gotta wait through the title screen logos, gotta wait 10-15 seconds on a loading screen, gotta wait another 5-10 on the cinematic pan across my car. I have now spent a minute and a half total waiting for this game to boot while I troubleshoot this.

Pull the accelerator. Instead of it complaining about my controller, straight up nothing happens. That's weird. The Start button works, the analog stick seems to work in the pause menu, but the triggers do not. The face buttons also do nothing. Upon checking the settings, that's because Most Wanted has settled on keyboard mode, even though it's clearly accepting some controller input. After poking at it, it does not seem like there's any way to get it to see my controller.

This makes Most Wanted a special game, because a lot of games I play will happily accept that Steam Input is telling it I have an Xbox controller connected even when I absolutely do not. But this is the rare 1% that seems to be incompatible. It's time to bring in the big guns.

Mayflash makes a terrific little passthrough device called the Magic NS, and the general purpose of this device is that it lets you use any controller on any other platform. An Xbox controller on a Playstation? No sweat. A Playstation controller on the Switch? It'll handle it. If you upgrade to the Magic NS2, you even get full gyro support. Every NS device also doubles as a Bluetooth dongle, so you can stay wireless if that's your thing. I love it so much I bought two, because generally they're only about $20.

A Magic NS2 for my Switch... and Magic NS1 for my PC. Strictly for scenarios like this, where a game expects an Xbox controller and Steam Input fails its camouflage.

Plug the NS1 in, connect my Dualshock 4, and once again boot up Most Wanted and wait the 45 seconds to get through the EA app, logos, loading, and the cinematic pan across my car. More than two full minutes now looking at this junk, and that's not counting the time spent outside of the game troubleshooting this in menus or digging out dongles or whatever.

Pull the accelerator... and my car starts to drive! I can steer! It works! Of course it works. The Magic NS never lets me down. I pull up to the first race event...

Press J and K to start the event.

Those are, uh. Those are keyboard keys. I'm using a controller. The controller is fully functional. You don't need to tell me this in keyboard controls. This isn't going to be one of those games, is it? The kind that still tells you everything in the keyboard shortcuts no matter what?

I drop into the menus again and see Most Wanted is still stuck on Keyboard mode and won't let me switch to anything else, even though I'm clearly using a fully functional controller now. This can't be right. But then I remember: Steam Input is still turned on, and when I forced Steam Input to be on, Most Wanted got stuck in this keyboard mode.

Exit out of the game, tell Steam to turn off Steam Input for this specific game only, and relaunch. Wait through all that crap again. We're up to three minutes just waiting for the game to start, and probably closing in on 20 minutes since I first decided I wanted to try Most Wanted.

Pull the accelerator, it works, drive up to the first event, and...

Pull LT and RT to start the event.

FINALLY. HOLY SHIT.

On the plus side: this game controls a lot better than I remember. It's a decent middleground between Criterion's heavier-feeling Hot Pursuit (2011) and the snappier Burnout Paradise. Though I could do with a lot less full screen flashing or the fact that Autolog alerts hide the minimap for some reason.

Not pictured, but the "always online" nature can also be frustrating if you pause, unpause, and find you have to quickly re-pause again a second time. That second pause will actually incur a loading spinner because it hasn't finished syncing with the server from the first pause, apparently. This game is going on 12 years old.

Anyway. This was a nightmare.

A Star For You

I personally LOVED this event. I really feel like the writing was dramatically above most of the other events I've experienced so far (other than birthday events and HDD). I enjoyed it so much, I felt like writing an entire post about it! I just have a lot of feelings and opinions and I need to get it out of my system.

SPOILERS AND SCREENSHOTS BELOW!

I'm so glad they're going with this new thing where they focus on a single character like they normally do for the birthday events. The birthday events are so much better and more fun, in my opinion, so if this is the new formula, I hope they stick with it. It's a lot more satisfying than the weird events where they try to fit everyone in and you don't really get to have much of an interaction with anyone.

I also thought it was interesting how they had Satan as the focus, but then Diavolo was sort of the secondary focus. And because of that you get to see them interact more than I think I've ever experienced so far. (I haven't played Season 4 yet, though.)

So I enjoyed that the two of them got to really interact with MC, but I was also very interested in the interactions they had with each other.

The best part is that there was just as much silliness as always and all the characters (except the three new ones, I think...) were still present and involved. Some of them certainly had more screen time than others, of course. But it felt more like how it does in the main story when an arc is focused on only a handful of characters and you don't see the rest of them as much.

Asmo was especially being himself in this event, I'm pretty sure he referred to himself as Princess Asmo three different times. The rest of the brothers really delivered the humor that makes me enjoy this game so much without taking away from the main event story.

There were so many instances of Asmo delivering lines that cracked me the hell up:

I mean, I am grateful for his existence.

It was Beel.

Mammon was also participating in his usual money obsessed shenanigans, which is always delightful in my opinion.

I love him.

And I just LOVED this interaction between him and MC (my MC's name is Ciaran).

The Mammon and MC dynamic is as excellent as always.

But really the meat and potatoes of this event was the key route. And I'm a little confused about why they even bother with the normal route? Sometimes the normal route has something amusing going on, but I kind of felt like this one was really not satisfying at all. I assume everybody does the key route anyway, but if for some reason you didn't, that ending would have been really anticlimactic. I realize the whole purpose of the key route is to get people to pay money for more AP and battles and such, but it's still annoying. I say, as I give in to the gimmick without hesitation. Anyway moving on.

I LOVED Diavolo in this event. I can only describe him as being princely and benevolent. Like what! When he gave MC his stars, I nearly lost my mind. He was so sweet about it, too. Diavolo's childlike wonder is adorable, of course, but I like it when he's a little more on the side of being a dynamic leader and showing how much he cares about doing the right thing.

Though earlier in the event he said this:

LIKE OKAY.

And then of course we have Satan. I was kind of neutral about Satan in the beginning of my Obey Me journey, but he grew on me over time. Though while I'm not obsessed with him (like I am with some of the other characters), I am fond of him, so I enjoyed getting some more insight into him. He has one of his angry wrathful episodes in the keyed route. Normally I'm like hmm was whatever it was worth the dramatics? But I was touched that he loses it because he's angry with his brothers for trying to use MC to win the festival.

Then he locks himself in his room for a while to calm down and MC goes to talk to him after getting the stars from Diavolo. And he said some stuff that made me sad because it makes me think he doesn't like himself very much. And then I got to thinking about it and it makes sense. In the main story he's so obsessed with not being like Lucifer and MC has to help him work through a lot of that. But that doesn't mean he's come to accept himself.

Like c'mon, man, you're bumming me out. :(

BUT he does cheer up of course because MC makes everything better and then he starts saying stuff like this:

So you know, it all worked out in the end.

Overall, I really enjoyed this event. It was sweet and the star theme is something I am SO into. The art on the cards for the event is so good!

I'm currently still trying to pull one elusive wizard grandpa in the Nightmare event, but I'm not giving up hope.

Obey Me! Nightbringer "Trick or Treat!" Pop Quiz

My thoughts on the Halloween 2023 event!

It was my first year doing a HDD time pop quiz and it did not disappoint! I’m not sure if they have the same Halloween costumes every year (that would not surprise me), but Beel and Bel’s really stood out to me! They are so cute yet Beel’s also feels really sexy! The other character outfits weren't bad, but just didn’t interest me as much. MC’s costume was not specified I don’t think? Which is always appreciated.

Even tho Beel was really pulling me in I felt like I had to follow Bel because he was the one that technically asked. 

Learning about Devildom (and surrounding domains) flora, fauna and food is one of my favorite parts of the game because they are so wild. Barbatos + Diavolo teaching you about the one-eyed chameleon filled that need. And it becomes our little shoulder friend TwT

Barbatos: “It changes its colouring to blend in with its surroundings, leaving only its eyeball visible. As a result, people do tend to mistake it for a wandering oculus.”

I really loved the Halloween Cafe theme! It's something I would attend if it was in my area and I love making specialty foods/drinks for myself so doing it with the OM family was awesome! You see a lot of themed cafes for school festivals in anime + manga. 

Later on when we are making recruitment posters:

MC: “Wow Barbatos. That…is a very realistic drawing.”

Barbatos: “While it may frighten some viewers…” 

I could hear the warning that plays after tv commercials in my head xD Also the poster drawings made me think of me and my sister prepping halloween treat bags, drawing little creatures on them. Very comfy vibes :3 A troublesome kitty gets involved leaving lil footprints of paint everywhere! So cute!

Its cute monsters showed up for the interviews, perfect Halloween interaction, but… no monster sprites :( So sad. Please Solmare make npc sprites! Or at least some new/special backgrounds. The sprites don’t need to be detailed, but it would have made the scenes with monsters so much better!

The monsters included were; mummy, skeleton, zombie and pumpkin spirit.

Does a pumpkin spirit just look like a see through pumpkin? Or like a genshin Seelie?

I did like there was a few interactions with the monsters; Mammon becoming friends with the mummy. The skeleton trying to help lift heavy things, but falls apart. The spirit drawing a face on the pie in secret while we were baking (Yay to Asmo joining us in the kitchen!).

And then there's Barbatos hilarious and painfully relatable situation of being pursued by the zombie. Poor guy is continuously asked out (then proposed to) by a co-worker he has no interest in but can’t fire them because they are a good worker. A horrible situation to be in, but great plot wise. Barbatos always ends up in strange situations like that.

When the monsters started to surround everyone and wanted to force us to be friends I was like “Noooo we can be friends normally! Friends don’t hold other friends hostage!” Then after they lost the games we had to do all the work at the cafes T_T. They even gave us trick candy later…

Very glad Beel offered to help Luke in the pumpkin rolling. Always nice to see Beel being assertive :3

While Diavolo has been in the Devildom longer then Satan  and have more hands on experience I feel Satan has done more in depth research so would know the bone structures better. And I was correct!

(Lil sidebar - my MC has been hesitant to be intimate with Levi knowing he doesn't know their true feelings for him.)

Really appreciate that they acknowledged Diavolo’s birthday. More flashbacks to my fic reading this scene. 

We also got to see Little D No.2 in this story! I felt so bad for him tho! Was so worried Thirteen would make him miss the cafe, so glad he didn’t! That lil guy deserves so much love <3 he works so hard!

All the cards were beautiful! Beel and Bel UR cards were so well done! I only got “Halloween Presents SSR” but it's the first time I've got any event card so I'm super happy about it!

Overall very pleased. This story was pretty well put together! Hope to see this quality at least for pop quizzes going forward <3

Online video storage is unpredictable. Websites may shut down or shut down. Here are some tips to back up your social media accounts on your laptop.

My personal story isn’t too huge. I was born, attended school, worked, fought, finally achieved something online.. But it does contain certain traumatic events that made me thought my life was done. One of those was the time my laptop computer went completely in silence. After a bit of fiddling, moving my old desktop into the new one and more fiddling around, I was eventually able to restore the entire work on that drive. It took me three days of sweating and literally tears. But, I've learned an important lesson: Dropbox and personal file servers can be used to automatically or manually back up my day's work. However, it's not the best option. You will have to pay more for maintaining your online data store. It's very simple and appears to be quite safe. It's also extremely easy to download it from any device connected to the internet. But what happens when the internet is not available? I like keeping my laptop close at hand for those instances. It's my last option to protect against losing data. Two drives I own, and utilize to create RAID stacks. They both copy each other and keep one copy to protect myself in case one of my HDDs is damaged. I only copy stuff there, mostly, so seldom do I make my laptop work. I'm hoping that two drives won't go out on the same day.. Another big day of grief was couple of months ago.. As I said above, I make sure not to lose my work. I now copy the same file multiple times and make it on hand wherever internet connectivity is accessible. It was Periscope. I used it a lot in the past. I even participated in live streams during the Riots of summer of 2020. Periscope TV has now closed and all videos will be gone in a matter of weeks. What should I do next? All the videos need to be downloaded to my laptop to be saved offline. These videos are very close to my heart. They were the last time I was with my best friend during Covid. It's a site I utilize to download video clips from Youtube, Instagram, Facebook and many other sites. I am a fan of politics and underground movements, which is why I record a lot of live events, save them for the future and publish them on my YouTube channel and every time live is done, I backup it up into my laptop. This is just what I do. It allows me to cross-post videos on multiple platforms. I can post a YouTube videos on Facebook and upload it on Facebook. Every video could be its own video. In reality I have over 3TB of live feeds over the past 8 years. And I am not going to lose my Periscope lives.. And this site is very helpful to me. It's perfect. youtube downloader Start the Periscope video I want to download, and copy the URL through the share link. Then, I go to the video downloading site to copy the URL, then press the button. Within seconds, I have multiple options to download videos. Not every site can help with Periscope however this one can, and it can manage m3u8 files that other sites usually download for you.. Those work however, and I'm not saying that they aren't however, they're actually using online video feed fragments, so playing this file within VLC although it's great does not actually do the job because the video isn't actually in your system but it's on the internet and streaming from the internet, when player loads short fragment files 1 by 1... Windows copy is a method to merge these fragments into a single file. It happens because of the format of video used to create the video fragments, Mpeg TS aka transport stream. It has all the information needed for decoding video within each fragment. Each stream is initiated from the middle without interruption. It also helps save data since it only downloads the ones which are relevant to what you are watching. If, for instance, you only view 25 seconds of the stream the player downloads just 3-4 fragments. In addition it could download the next couple of fragments. This greatly reduces the total download required to watch just 25sec from the middle of the stream. - no need to download whole 1hr of video prior to that 25 seconds..

"Finished" PC Build

Backstory: Starting 2023 I was still running a cobbled together mess of a PC, the heart of which was a Dell Studio XPS desktop from 2010. Yes, THIRTEEN YEARS old. I got 2 of them from a gaming company in 2012 for the price of a tank of gas, thanks to knowing someone working there that had been tasked with E-wasting all the Windows PCs. Company was switching to iOS dev.

Anyway, at its heart was the Dell Mobo, which featured a 1st Gen i5-920. By this point, the OG GPU was long gone and I had "upgraded" with a 1050TI. 16gigs of DDR3 RAM. This basic as hell setup had served me admirably for a decade, for a couple reasons.

I run Linux.

I have never been a HEAVY PC GAMER. Sure, I have gamed on PC since I first got one in 2005 (yeah, kinda late to the game, considering I was almost 30, lol), but I mostly used my PC for World of Warcraft, other similar MMOs, and what are now called Indie games on Steam. I've had consoles from like 6yrs old, and I tend to prefer them as they are the cheap option for gaming. I appreciate what a modern PC can do (esp lately with RT etc) but like, more often than not PC gaming can be as much of a chore as it can be fun.

Now, starting around March 2023, that old PC began having strange errors with the RAM, which would cause Firefox to crash tabs/completely, among other things. Eventually it broke my Linux Mint OS badly enough it just stopped allowing me to login. Finally figured out the HDD I had was failing and got an SSD. Installed Garuda on it and pretty quickly realized I had Mobo issues as the RAM was still reporting less DIMMs than it had, half the time.

At this point, a friend that was aware of the issues offered to mail me an i5-6400, to build a "new" system around. Naturally I accepted and bought a Fractal Meshify 2, some new DDR4 RAM, DeepCool Gammax, and a used MSI Krait Gaming Mobo. Stuck the new parts in the new case, and moved over storage/GPU from old PC. Booted and updated the OS, then launched WoW. Still getting 10fps in Valdrakken. Shit. Guess I need to upgrade this GPU.

So I bought an RX 6800. Stuck it in the case and booted. Updated the OS, which brought the Mesa drivers on board. Launched WoW again. 10fps again. What the fuck. Thought maybe swapping from Nvidia to AMD might have left over some driver mess, so I fresh installed Garuda and got all set up. Logged WoW Main again. STILL 10fps. WTF. Took my Main to SW, stood in front of the bank, then logged an alt with NO UI. Holy shit, there's a 35fps difference between them. My UI was broken, lol. Spent a day fixing that. Now I get 20fps in Valdrakken, but 55ish everywhere else. This is good.. but... What if I upgraded the core to something current gen, say AM5?

Finally we arrive at the part the title of this post suggested, building the "new" PC. I went to Newegg and picked out a Ryzen 5 7600X, MSI Mag B650 Tomahawk WIFI Mobo, G.SKILL FlareX5 32g RAM kit, and a TFORCE 2TB M.2 SSD. I also got a "free" 1TB Sata SSD with the CPU, it was also a TFORCE. The following are the pics of the "build" process. There will also be an aside for a complication. ProTip: be real fucking sure everything you want to put into a PC is absolutely compatible. Some things say they are when they aren't. You'll see what I mean.

Here's the parts laid out and ready to be installed.

This Mobo has a ton of IO.

The iFixit "Pro Tech" toolkit. I got it on sale for I wanna say 80 bucks a few months ago, as of today it's listed for $75, and I think it's definitely worth the money.

Here we see the 3 M.2 slots. 2 of them have included heat sinks. Nice.

ProTip: Remember to peel the fucking plastic off these thermal pads, cause they don't really work with it on there.

ProTip: it's real damn important to make sure you put the RAM in the proper dual channel config on an AMD system. On this motherboard there is a little diagram pointing out that the slots the sticks are in clearly say "first" on them, which is a nice touch. If you look closely, you can barely make out the very fuzzy diagram printed just above the heat sink bracket on the right hand side of the CPU.

And here's the board, ready to go into the case for further assembly.. however, it was at this point that i realized that the EVGA 650w PSU I had didn't have two 8pin(4x4) CPU cables. I got it open box, no manuals etc, and could have sworn it had 2 cables but I was wrong. Makes sense, really, 650 watts would be cutting it too close with this build. Bummer.

Ok, well I can at least move over my DeepCool Gammax heat sink. I looked at the listing from when I bought it and it says "AM5 compatible". I watched a vid that said "hey as long as your cooler doesn't use a back plate, it should work with AM5"

LIES, BOTH OF THEM. I tried to get the DeepCool on there but the brackets didn't quite line up, and then even if I could kinda fudge it a little to make that work, the screws were threaded differently. Fuck. So at this point, in the middle of a somewhat heavy storm, I had to make a run to Best Buy and hope the store really did have the things the website said it did. Thankfully, it did (and I guess yay for living in a decent area or something? cause I've heard stories about BBs having like 3 PSUs from one brand, so "my" store having 19 from 6 brands is luxury, it seems. I miss Fry's). Picked up an EVGA GT 850w 80+ Gold with auto Eco Mode and a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Halo, which was extremely lucky as it was the only one in the store.

That out of the way, the build can continue.

Sorry about the quality of some of these pics btw, I'm getting old so the eyes ain't what they were plus I had been dealing with this for several hours by now so I was also cranky and kinda rushing through the pics part. They looked good on the phone, less so once I moved them to the PC, heh.

That's looking clean as fuck. Yeah that old USB IO thing is old and kinda looks stupid but like, never can have enough ports, right?

I really do like this Fractal Meshify 2 case. It's laid out super well and is a breeze to build in. I mean just look at that cable routing, yo. And I was kinda rushing and not really being that finicky about it lol.

And it's home. Yeah, yeah, I know I need to clean up the cable situation on the left, there. I'll get to it. Also yes, there's some rust on that standing desk pole. I got it for free and it had been sitting outside. I've meant to clean that up but just haven't gotten to it, heh. Living in an RV as a not small dude (6ft1 240lbs or so) makes doing things like this just kinda suck, honestly. Add another person to the mix and yeah things can get tight. A 28ftx8ft box to live in just ain't the best time in the world, lol. We make do, though.

Finally, I figure I can give one nod to the RGB fans, so here you go. The Halo's fan in all its glory. I have since installed OpenRGB and managed, even on Linux, to gain access to the RGB controller and set the brightness to minimum.

I have run some benchmarks with Phoronix. I guess at least one person who might read this may be interested, especially Linux fans? So here's links to those:

Blender - this is an all tests, best of 3 run. Took a couple hours, which meant it was a great stress test for the CPU. I had no problems, which is impressive as the CPU sat at what I understand to be the throttle point temp of 95C. Yeah. I'm going to be looking into a better cooling solution or at least add another fan to the heat sink and see if that helps.

There's also 3 tests from when I was running the i5-6400 with the RX 6800.... if you wanna see what happens to a GPU when you severely bottleneck it, lol. If anyone actually reading this is interested you can just click "System Logs" on any of the links above, then "Show System Information" which will take you to a list of all benchmarks I've done so far.

Oh and by the way, I launched WoW again after I finished, despite it being late and I was sore and tired. But I just had to see. I am now unable to get less than 35-40fps in Valdrakken, and I'm averaging nearly 100 anywhere else. I actually saw 130fps a few times. I'm not sure I've ever seen that high a number even when I flew as high as is allowed and looked straight up, lol.

In other words: yes, it was worth it. Especially if I can manage to baby this thing well enough it lasts me at least a few years before I "have" to think about upgrading it. Again.

I want to take a break from my slow uploads to apologise for a couple of things.

Firstly, I’m sorry for going back and posting more old images. I find that when I go back to browse unprocessed work, I sometimes find a new appreciation I didn’t originally have and one thing sort of leads to another, I originally intended the photo I just uploaded to be part of a private collection for myself but I ended up processing it to share. There is a genuine reason for me to go back and go through my older work, too. I’ve run out of drive space on my large photography-dedicated HDD so this is also part of me managing and freeing up space. I have an external hard drive I hardly look at that I use for long-term storage, so I want to make sure I have everything I want from my older work before making the transfer to free up space that I need for newer work.

Secondly, I also want to apologise if colour balancing is off, or whites/blacks look a bit muted in some of my photos. It has been an issue my entire life, but I only just received a diagnosis and have been able to put a name to this a few years ago. Looking at brighter colours are one of many things I struggle with due to irlen syndrome, and I’ve been growing increasingly aware of how this has been affecting the adjustments I make to the colour balancing and contrast in my work. I’m sorry if this compromises the experience of viewing my work, however I have taken steps to try and mitigate it by having a darker computer screen and I also wear filtered glasses. Even so, I thought it was about time I explained this in case it’s something you’ve noticed in my work. I also hope that if you also have irlen syndrome, that it makes it easier for you to view my work.

And lastly, I want to apologise for my lack of consistent updates. Asides from the condition I named above, I do struggle with several other health difficulties and I’ve been having a particularly difficult time for a long while. I am trying to get back to my art despite this.
