FAQ: Need services for handicapped? Where can you go for information?
Answer: We talk about ability-travel here often, so listen if you want to know more.
I have a friend named Kathryn who is traveling the world now, when she can, and doesn’t let her handicaps keep her from going. She works full time as a teacher, and travels weekends and holidays. She went on a summer trip to Australia and New Zealand and we spoke while she was there.
She says there are plenty of services available to those with a lack of ability, and to seek help when you need it. The best advice is to try to stick to a morning routine, as much as possible.
Here’s a few companies that specialize in travel for those situations.
Arrange Accessible accommodations by contacting your hotel and requesting a special room.
Arrange assistance while flying and try to get special accommodations.

Make sure travel insurance includes medical, because medical is not covered by most plans when you are out of the country.

Today’s destination: Monarch Dunes and Paso Robles Wineries, CA
Monarch is a butterfly that was well-known in this farming area of Nipomo, CA. and inspired a development of 1200 homes surrounded by beautiful beaches and farming agriculture.
Many people travel to Nipomo for the golf experience. There’s a community of homes, built by Shea Homes that could double for a land-based cruise ship, except it’s not. It’s a community that pops out of nowhere of single family homes. The activities are resort-like and the atmosphere is healthy-looking adults in their 60’s and 70’s. These baby boomers are living large and have their desserts. Many drive Tesla’s. Many have 3 car garages. Some are on the golf course and others on the vineyard, facing the ocean. The breeze is nice here, but the blowing sand gets old fast. There is a ton of sand to sweep. The clubhouse has a pool and spa, plus there’s a shed for throwing pottery and Bocce Ball courts by the pickleball courts. It’s open to the public.

You’ll also find some great wine tasting in Paso Robles. less than an hour from Nipomo. The region got its reputation of being a wine destination in the 1960’s, starting with the soil scientist from San Luis Obisbo, and Jack Niven was the soil and fruit expert known in this region.
  https://www.goldmedalwineclub.com/winery/niven-family-wine-estates-san-luis-obispo-county
In Paso Robles it is known by winemakers that the same fruit can taste different even when grown as little as 2 miles away. Patience is key in wine growing here as well as in other wine regions.
I visited this July 4 weekend 2022 and stayed in the resort-like area with friends. They played pickleball. And I went to the swimming pool and spa. We planned wine tasting and other cultural adventures. One of those was at the Baileyana winery, on a warm July afternoon, looking over the vineyards from a tent outside in the parking area, surrounded by grassy areas and a building that held the wines. We had a couple of hours tasting and eating our picnic lunch. We arranged this ahead of time and it was easy to find the location and parking.
Our wine expert was Martha, who attended UCSB and has been here for nearly ten years. Baileyana is owned by the Wine Exchange now, who also own Bread Butter in Napa and Chronic in Paso Robles.
  https://www.wxbrands.com/
Do visit a winery and tour a vineyard. Bring a picnic lunch and buy a bottle at the winery.
Don’t forget to make a reservation. Golfing, wine tasting or a meal. You may need to reserve in advance, so plan ahead if you can.
Today’s Mistake- Trusting the first person you ask for directions
I get lost a lot. I ask for directions most of the time. This week, I got lost in a casino. I was unable to find where I was going. I found an employee and asked for help. They sent me in the wrong direction, so I got lost again. The next person gave the right directions, and I found my way to my destination. Don’t always trust the directions until you find it’s correct.
Today’s Travel Advice-Visit your local zoo or park and get some outdoors fun.
Get outdoors. Leave the devices behind and spend time with the animals, tree life and make a friend. What is your favorite Zoo? My favorite is the World Famous San Diego Zoo. They are now part of the Wildlife Alliance.

the real story of amélie from arthur’s route
Tumblr media
hey hey! it’s been a long time! i have been quite busy these past weeks with finals and the summer break.
i also want to start writing hcs, so if you have any requests don’t hesitate to send them to me!
today i wanted to write about a story that i read not too long ago that really coincides with the evil character of amelie in arthur’s route.
a lot of people might have actually already heard of it, she is known as history’s most cruel murderer.
Tumblr media
the person we are going to talk about lived in the period of victorian england and was sometimes suspected to have a link with jack the ripper, the serial killer who terrorized the inhabitants of whitechapel.
in other words, she is called the ogress of reading or the victorian ogress and the trial of these murders has been the subject of much attention, especially because she preyed on very young children. Let me tell you the terrifying story of a monster who disguised herself as a warm and loving mother figure
the story of the infamous amelia elisabeth dyer
Tumblr media
an ordinary family
our story begins in 1836 in the port city of bristol in england. the hobley family welcomes the arrival of a fifth child, a lovely little girl called amelia elisabeth. the little amelia is very lucky, in a time when poverty reigns in the united kingdom she knows a respectable education, learns to read and to love poetry. however the luck ends quickly as amelia’ mother caught typhus, an illness that showed her a lot of psychological problems. amelia had to take care of her mother until she passes away from her illness. after her mother’s death, the girl loses contact with most of her family members. meanwhile, amelia starts seeing george thomas, a 59 year old man, much older than her, who was only 25 at the time (long live the sugar daddies!). they planned to get married and to avoid gossip, they both lied about their date of birth on the day of the ceremony. (amelia pretended that she was 32 and george 48)
Tumblr media
during her marriage, amelia learned to be a nurse but she doesn't have time to forge a real career as her husband dies leaving her alone with their children who are still very young. it's already not easy to raise a child alone nowadays but imagine what it was like at that time when england was in the middle of the victorian period, the industrial revolution changed the shape of the cities and saw the emergence of new social classes. in london and other major british cities, poverty has invaded the neighborhoods and the poor have few options to get by. some live in workhouses which reduce them more or less in slavery for a mouthful of bread while others choose criminality to support themselves.
Tumblr media
however, amelia remembers ellen dane, a midwife in her building with whom she got along quite. she had told her that to earn more money she had become a baby farmer.
it is a profession which does not exist any more today but was rather widespread in the 19th century. now, it should not be forgotten that this england inherited puritanism and considered that to have a child out of marriage was a horrible sin. if that came to be known, the young women concerned risked big and could lose their reputation and their work. especially that, at that time, one did not consider that the father had a role to play in the event of unwanted pregnancy. also, it was obviously out of question to abort except clandestinely which was at the same time illegal and very dangerous. all that to say that when an unwanted child came to the world most women preferred to give it up rather than risk public humiliation. but abandonment was also illegal, and none of them wanted to risk the death penalty if their actions came public. this is precisely where the baby farmers intervene. when a woman fell pregnant and did not want to keep the child, she had to put an ad in the newspapers and leave her child to a farmer.the baby would be taken care of and fed until the farm finds a new family. it was a sort of clandestine human trafficking, and sometimes the farmers even housed the mothers in their homes during their pregnancy in order to hide their big bellies.
Tumblr media
the birth of the monster
soon, the ogress settles in reading close to london and publishes advertisements where she presents herself as a respectable woman to marry, capable of providing a healthy environment and filled with affection to the children that she intends to collect like the other farmers. she asks for money to be able to look after them. amelia quickly realizes that it is much more profitable to keep the money rather than to use it for feeding and educating the children. and so little by little the treatments that she inflicts on the children become more and more dire (spoiler: she doesn’t take care of them anymore). and even worse, she even drugs the children to prevent them from crying because of hunger. the kids often die of malnutrition and infantile diseases. it is absolutely terrible and yet it is far from being unusual, in fact orphans were very often victims of abuse and many of the baby farmers were far from being trustworthy people. a lot took advantage of the distress of the mothers ready to do anything to keep their secret and these so-called “baby farmers” would leave the children to die in order to pocket the money without any effort. when the mothers asked for news of their children, they often got no answer and when a family wanted to get a child back, the farmer gave them another one instead.
amelia very quickly became addicted to the drugs she used on the children as she couldn’t stand the crying and the presence of the orphans anymore. she decides to move on to a more radical option: directly eliminating the children she is entrusted with.
at first, she will choose to poison them and claim an infantile disease, but the doctor who came to attest the death of the infants shows himself a little suspicious (at the same time, she gives him a case every week or so :/). in short, the guy warned the authorities so that they could investigate on amelia. but no luck, she manages to get away with negligence with a simple sentence of forced labor. and moreover, she decided to opt for a more brutal method for her future murders. that is to say, she was going to strangle them as soon as she was allowed to keep them, pocket the money and look for a new child to start all over again. and this will go on for years, sometimes at the rate of six babies a day, no need to declare the deaths, she got rid of them herself, wrapping them in cloth or old clothes, and then she left to burn them in an isolated place to hide them or throw them in the thames. and when she felt that the authorities could trace the dead children back to her, she simulates a nervous breakdown and suicidal desires and runs off to a psychiatric hospital. she even tried to kill herself once by overdosing to escape an overly suspicious mother who was asking for her child. except that by consuming opiates she had become hyper resistant and the dose that she took was not enough to kill her. she then moved often and took on different identities to prevent the police from finding her and understanding who she really was and this little merry-go-round worked for a long time, a very long time, even, but not indefinitely...
Tumblr media
ambush and arrest
in january 1896, a waitress named evelyna marmon gave birth to an illegitimate daughter named doris. she was looking for someone to take care of her and very soon she came across the ad of a certain mrs. harding who wrote "married couple, without children, want to adopt a child in good health in a beautiful country house, price: 10£”. necessarily for this young mother, it is a godsend and the two women contact each other. and here is what mrs. harding replied, "I would be happy to have a dear little girl, one that I will be able to raise like my own. we are a united couple of fairly good conditions. I do not want a child for the lure of gain but to accompany the comfort of the house. my husband and I love children but we do not have any. with me, this child will have a good house as well as all the love of a mother". at this stage you can guess that mrs. harding is in fact amelia dyer who took a false name and who continued with her macabre activities. doris gets taken from the waitress by “mrs. harding” who confirms by letter that the child is doing well, after that she doesn’t give any more news. spoiler: the child did not have more than a few hours to live. once the crime is committed, because yes, it’s done already. amelia covers the body of doris with another child in fabric and travels to the edge of the thames to throw them under the eyes of a man who seemed to observe her but who didn’t address a word to her.
Tumblr media
in this kind of case, one wonders “where tf is the police??” well they were on the point of starting a very interesting investigation... on march 30th 1896, the police force finds the lifeless body of helena fry, a baby of hardly 15 months who floated on the waters of the river wrapped in a brown cloth. for the authorities, it is obviously a murder since the child was strangled. they later found on the cloth, a half erased writing which resembles an address. this address is amélia’s, who is now 58 years old; the police then trace her and set up a trap.
basically what they did was to use a young woman as a cover, she pretended to need a farmer to look after her child and as expected it was amelia who answered her directly. so that's how the police organized an ambush at the murderer's house. what first shocked the policemen was especially the unbearable smell which reigned in the house because of the decomposition of certain corpses, they also found meters of edging tape which she used to strangle her victims, and also telegrams testifying of all the adoptions made as well as letters of mothers who asked for news of their children. so yes, there is a lot of evidence to charge her for, especially as they found at least seven more bodies by dredging the thames after her arrest. the bodies clearly had a white mark around their neck probably because of the tape she used to kill the children with. we also know that about twenty children under her care at that time were missing but for the rest it's impossible to know the exact number of amelia's victims. in fact, it is estimated that in 20 years she would have killed between 200 and 400 newborn babies, that's why she is said to be the most prolific serial killer in history.
Tumblr media
her sentence and death
in spite of this very important number of victims amelia will be accused for only one crime, the one of the little doris. except that she very quickly confessed a quantity of other murders and tried to commit suicide twice while she was incarcerated. the defense pleaded madness and because she had spent time in asylum the doctors that she had managed to manipulate were able to confirm that was unstable. she herself said that the children she had killed died peacefully; that they were called back by God who was someone who could love them more than anyone on this earth, she said that she had simply made angels and that one day she would sit beside the Lord Almighty. her breakdowns of madness always coincided strangely with the moment when the police approached, so we can think that it was more of simulation and calculation than true dementia. the jury took hardly five minutes to return its verdict, the crimes were so horrible that her mental state could not do much anyways.
amelia was thus condemned to the death penalty. on june 10th 1896, amelia dyer walks towards the scaffold, she decided not to appeal by hearing her verdict and wrote herself five notebooks of confession before her execution that she entrusted to a priest. she tells inside them to have taken pleasure in seeing her victims dying. before her execution, one asked her if she had any last words to pronounce but she answered that she did not have anything to add. at 9 o’clock sharp, the woman who was called the ogresse of reading was hanged. following these tragic events the controls of the adoptions and the activities of the baby farmers were reinforced, new laws were also put in place to protect the children and the mothers and the advertisements in the newspapers were supervised. that said, it still took a certain number of years before child trafficking was seriously supervised…
that’s all for the story! it is a very horrific case and i can’t even imagine what the children must have gone through. i also think we can all agree with the similarities with the character of amélie in arthur’s route.

Dating Kaz Brekker would include
Tumblr media
Meeting each other :
You officially meet each other when Kaz becomes a member of the Dregs, which would mean that you were both around ten/eleven since he is a year older than you.
But in reality, Kaz met you way before. Before his life went down-hill. When he still knew what happiness meant. The first time he saw you was during his first days in Ketterdam when he and Jordie were living a happy life. The two brothers were walking down a street, cups of hot chocolate in hands when out of the blue, Kaz stopped in his tracks. He couldn't breathe, or a talk, let alone walk. Jordie even became worried until his eyes followed his brother's ones. Jordie understood what was happening the moment he saw you. A little girl in a beautiful dress, walking hand in hand with a woman that most probably your mother. Your smile, a grin from ear to ear could illuminate even the darkest street in all Ketterdam. Everything in you captivated Kaz, from your beautiful skin to your eyes, passing by your hair, nose... Slowly Kaz came out of his trance and pouted at his brother who was clearly laughing at him. But Jordie wasn't mocking him, he was happy for his brother and said "Grow up a little before and then fall for anyone you want. But seriously, she is cute." And then started chuckling again making little Kaz pouting even more. He might have been still a child, but even years later he will always think that since that day he understood what "love" meant. Even though Kaz was only nine, he knew that no matter who you were one day he will see you again.
And see you again, he did. But not the way he imagined. The second time he saw you again was a few weeks after his brother's death. Any trace of that innocent boy went away. But the same thing could be said about you. Any trace of happiness that could warm up any cold room disappeared.
Even after everything that he's been through Kaz could never get you out of his head. Weirdly enough, you were the second reason why he kept fighting to survive, well after getting revenge on Pekka Rollins obviously.
Imagine his surprise when he sees you one day on the docks of Ketterdam, hugging your mother. It took a few for Kaz to recognize you since you were so different that he remembered. You weren't physically different, no, but your smile, the trait that Kaz could never forget, well there was no trace of it. Instead, he saw your weeping eyes and your little arms hugging your mother. It would take years before Kaz finds out that the reason for this heartbreaking scene was that your mother had to go back to your home country, Ravka since as a powerful Grisha she had to fight for her country.
Hence why you had to stay with your grandfather, Per Haskell. Your mother didn't fully trust her father, but in her defense, at that time Haskell wasn't the horror that he became years later. And plus, it would always be better than to send you to your father, but that's a story for later.
Back to Dirtyhands, the young boy didn't even know you but seeing you cry and trembling of sadness made him want to protect you from the entire world. Something that he will actually do (or at least try to) in the future.
Now, let's go (finally) to the moment when you met. It was the same day Kaz joined the Dregs, he obviously already knew who you were but it didn't stop him from losing his ability to breathe when he saw you enter your grandfather's office so that he could introduce you to each other. Not that Haskell actually cared but he still did it since he was still a little a bit of a decent human being, at least for now.
Before the relationship :
Kaz and you connected right away. You were clearly opposites but it was fine for you. You balanced each other. You with your happy optimistic aura and him with his gloomy, sad one.
While Kaz trusted you with his life, he would never show it. Not until you admit to your feelings for each other at least. Not that he didn't want to be close to you but he chose not to. To protect you. To protect you from his demons, the danger that he could bring into your life. He knew you deserved better and he wanted that for you. He knew you could fend for yourself since you were an Inferni and the smartest person in the world (alongside him obviously) but he wanted you to get away from the Barrel as far as you could. He wanted you to go to University one day, travel the world, fall in love, have a family. He always told himself that would do anything for that to happen even if it meant not having you with him.
But you were having none of that. You showed him that you wanted him, as friends, lovers, you didn't care, you just wanted for you to be by each other's side.
So Kaz started to lower his guard, and at your fourteenth birthday, he finally admitted his feelings. You were so happy that you wanted to kiss him but knew you couldn't since you knew about his phobia and how it happened. You didn't' want to bring even more pain to him that he already feels every day. But Kaz thought otherwise and kissed you. The kiss was tender, short and awkward (since it was your and his first kiss) but it was the best kiss of your lives.
In the relationship :
Considering that you were a Haskell you were untouchable and yet somehow after becoming "Dirtyhands' girlfriend" it became even worse. Before the Dregs wouldn't get too close to you but now not even one soul in the Barell would even dare to even think about you. Because if they did that could definitely expect to get shot by a certain Sharshooter or get their troat slid by the Wraith or even worse get killed by Kaz himself and that I can assure you is definitely not a quick, painless death.
A year has passed since you started dating and you weren't known as "Per Haskell's heir" anymore but as "Kaz Brekker's partner" and any member of the Dregs were expected to be ready to die for you if the necessity came. But that wouldn't even be a problem since you were loved by everyone with your kindness but also sarcasm, humour and strength. No, you were nothing of a damsel in distress, you were a fighter, a powerful Inferni, but less cruel than the rest of the Barell.
Moving to the two of you. Outside of the safety of his (well yours since you basically lived there) room or floor to be exact, Kaz was cold as ice but you knew him well, or at least thought you did, then you'd be able to see small gestures that would show how much you mean to him.
First, they say our eyes are the mirror of our soul. Well, that saying is pro en true thanks to Kaz and you. During every meeting, every walk in the city, you could always feel Kaz watching you. Not in a creepy way, no, but in a caring way. Since he knows that he can't show any emotions in the streets, Kaz will always keep an eye on you, just to be sure that you wouldn't disappear or get hurt. Kaz would never forgive himself if something happened to you.
Secondly, since Kaz is actually a softie on the inside (you can fight me on that but I won't change my mind) he will always make sure that you stay next to him, preferably with on of his gloved hands on the small of your back or if can't do that he will put his cane in front of you. In some ways, that gesture calms him down because he knows that he could protect you if needed.
Next, Kaz will always try to keep you as far as he can from violence. You are one of the only ones in the Dregs that hasn't suffered too much in your life and he wants that to stay that way. So he'll make sure to always keep you safe but since you are a Haskell you'd have to actually go into action once in a while and when that happens you can bet that he or Inej or Jesper or Nina will be by your side to protect you.
Kaz doesn't really know how to show that he cares so he'll just be protective. Sometimes it would be a bit too much and you would even fight because of it (and trust me when you fight the entire Barell knows about it) but you know that he does that only out of love so you don't stay mad at him for too long.
Now let's move on to the other side of the relationship, in the safety of his/your room Kaz is a softie. Firstly you're the only one who knows about his past, how he moved from his farm with Jordie, how that lived their first weeks in Ketterdam but most importantly how he survived the Queen's Lady Plague. The first time he told you about his past you cried as if feeling the pain that he was feeling. Since that day you became as protective of him as he is of you. No, but really, someone says something too cruel about Kaz then they better run because an angry Inferni is on her way.
Being with him also means that he actually allows himself to relax around you. It does as far that he can beat skin to skin contact but too much either. But that small hugs, kisses that you share are cherished by the both of you so much since they show how much you care about each other and it shows him that he isn't alone.
Relationship with the others :
Jesper and you. To describe you shortly, you are plationic soulmates. The two of you are so alike but so different at the same time. Your sense of humour is what actually made you grow closer and since that day you've inseparable. If one goes somewhere you can without a doubt expect the other one to follow, no matter how stupid the idea of the first one is.
Nina and you. You consider each other best friends or even more than that. In fact you are so close that while Kaz isn't jealous of your relationship with Jesper, he is constantly afraid that the Heatender would steal you from him. Funilly enough Nina has made a habit to always flirt with you whenever you see each other only to get on Kaz's nerves. Something that neither Matthias or Kaz are keen on since the two males both know what a power couple you two would be, just imagine a Heartender and an Inferni together, well even the Darkling would have been afraid. Not that any of the two would actually admit it.
Wylan is like a baby brother to you. You would always protect from anyone, would it be an unknown treat, Van Eck or even someone from the Dregs. Well maybe not the Dregs since they all know not to get on your bad side. The merchling saw you as a sister too. If he needed advice or help it's you that he would go to. You understood each other so well that people started to actually believe you were related. The only thing that always confused the boy was such a nice person like you ended falling from someone as grumpy as Kaz.
Matthias and you have a complex relationship. On one hand he felt obligated to hate you, you were a Grisha and the fact that you were with the "Demjin" didn't help your case. But with time he learned to respect you and considered you as his friend till the day he died. I mean you could not like you, you were nice and smart and beautiful (not that physical appearance matters but still). In fact Matthias cared fro you so much (platonically of course) that he even threatened Kaz that if the man ever hurt you then the Fjerdan would find a way to destroy. A threat that all the Dregs agreed to and even Kaz responded by saying that if he ever hurt you he wouldn't fight back.
To describe in one word yours and Inej's relationship you could use the word complicated. You respect each other and care for each other. You even consider each other friends, especially since Inej found out that you are the one who convinced your grandfather to pay off her debts to Tante Heleen. And yet you still have a weird relationship, especially because of. certain kerch boy. As much as you trust both of them you cannot deny that you are not fearful that one day Kaz might develop such strong feelings for the Wraith that he might leave you. But then again you two are strong and independent women so not man will in between your friendship and that is why at least once a week you can be found along with Nina and Inej eating waffles at your favourite place.

Pearls & Lilies
Seawalker/Merman Jeongin X Spellcaster! Fem Reader (platonic)
1.6k words, fluff, Beware of a singular mention of injury ( no toes were farmed in the making of this piece of fiction)
Fantasy AU, Supernatural! SKZ, Part-2 of Prince of Pearls from the In Umbra Universe (this can be read individually)
A/N: I’m back with my favourite merman! A Happy late( in my country and his)  birthday to the Maknae on top Yang Jeongin ehe~ Here is my little addition to the In Umbra fic collection AT LONG LAST. Hope you like this! Do let me know what y’all think :)
Tumblr media
Time flowed slowly in Atlantis, it seemed- almost like the underwater resided in a whole different plane of existence from the world he’d been a part of not too long ago. Jeongin realized this when his mortal body clock prompted him to sleep twice in a day- It was a nice feeling, like he was watching mortal time tick past him without taking him with it. Turned out, he wasn’t wrong.
Atlantis and the expansive merpeople kingdom had an entire plane to themselves, much like the ones the other supernatural races had for themselves- it was called Thallasia.
He remembered sitting with a cherry-haired female mermaid named Yeri and her brother Jungwoo before his first day of classes, listening intently to their long-winded descriptions of Thallasia. They spoke highly of the underwater plane, with its depthless trenches with blinking lights for the houses built into the sides, the meadows filled with coral that glowed in the dark and castles built of granite, agate and studded greenstone.
Jungwoo even went as far as to whisper of a secret pathway into the mortal plane, promising to show him later in the day when he noticed Jeongin’s attention visible pique at the words. That very night, Jungwoo showed him the seaweed-covered tunnel and led straight into the darker, murkier open seas of the mortal plane.
Seawalkers- mortals turned merpeople- were allowed to go back to land whenever they wished provided they never divulge the existence or location of Thallasia and Atlantis. Unlike trueborn merpeople, they retained the power to use feet or fins as they wished, which allowed seawalkers to tread land as and when they wished. The secret of Thallasia was a well-kept one to the landwalking mortals because seawalkers were created woefully rare and far in between.
That pathway became one of his most frequented corners of Atlantis in no time. Every other weekend’s sunrise would find him slipping through the seaweed and swimming down the long tunnel into the mortal seas. His personal plans of reuniting the merpeople with the landwalkers only solidified with every visit he paid to Busan and the towns that were rapidly developing around his hometown- but with his visits, he came to developing one new relationship. You.
He remembered his first steps on land, Jungwoo’s head poking out of the water as he watched Jeongin with bright, curious eyes. The feel of the sand on his toes pulled a wide grin to his face, his eyes welling up with tears from emotions he was yet to place. It was at that moment when he realised, he missed the land.
He missed having legs, feeling the crisp air in his lungs in the midst of a long run on the sand, feeling the fine grains under his toes. He missed climbing up trees for fresh fruit, his palms and soles chafing against the rough bark of the trees. He missed watching the sunrise and set and the chilly breeze against his arms but most of all, he missed his parents. Despite loving his new seawalker life and all the novelty it offered, it wasn’t entirely his own: Jeongin’s blood might have always sung for the oceans, but his heart was mortal born and raised.
//
“Hello, seawalker.” Jeongin’s lips quirked up of their own accord when he heard your voice, drawling and accented before you slipped into the chair in bench in front of him. Salen’s Bar and Inn was a supernatural haunt he’d taken to rather quickly, with the boisterous crowd and young owners who knew how to keep their patrons happy. One of the owners named Hongjoong, a former seawalker who had renounced the ocean after centuries of piracy, often enjoyed Jeongin’s  whispered stories of Thallasia and Atlantis.
“Hello, charlatan.” he mockingly raised his glass of orange juice at you. You gasped in mock offence, reaching over to smack his arm. “How dare you! I am a respectable young lady, a successful tradeswoman at that!”
“Say what you will,” Jeongin chortled, sipping his drink. “But the only reason you sell anything if because of magic. Doesn’t that make you a fake?”
“I tell all of them it’s magic, it’s their fault they don’t believe me!” You laughed aloud before flagging down one of the waiters, placing your usual order and a mug of hot coffee. “Jeongin watched as you settled yourself further onto the bench, pulling off your heavy midnight cloak and fixing your sleeves and dress around your now cross-legged feet.
His first meeting with you had been an odd one. Jeongin’s mother had run out of ginger and herbs and threw him out of the house to do a grocery run for her, late in the evening. Quickly making his purchases, he decided to take the scenic route back home, away from the beach road and through a copse of trees. What he did not realize was that somebody else had taken that exact route that evening and had panicked at the sound of him following them.
Tumblr media
Imagine Jeongin’s surprise when he was waylaid by an angry-looking girl with green sparks lighting up the tips of her fingers, telling him to back off from her trade items before she sliced his toes off. It was one of his life’s greatest embarrassments that he’d screamed in a rather high-pitched manner when you’d appeared out of thin air, your eyes shining unnaturally bright against the darkness of the copse.
After copious amounts of explaining from Jeongin, you relented, letting him pass with a begrudging apology- but Jeongin insisted on walking you all the way to your doorstep in a gesture of goodwill.
You were a spellcaster from the skinwalker plane Kyrmena- particularly from Gumiho territory, where your accent came from. Your parents had let you travel the country when you became of age, letting you learn more of the world by yourself. Busan had captured your heart for its serene beachside and the approachable people, which was why you set up a little home for yourself in Salen’s Inn, trusting Hongjoong and Yeosang’s hideout for the land living supernatural races.
That had been more than 6 months ago, the two of you becoming fast friends over Jeongin’s weekend visits. It was now tradition for him to take up this particular table at Salen’s before you bustled in from your market run, your hair tousled from the sea breeze. You were always the last person he met before heading back to Thallasia, bidding him adieu at the beach when he left.
“Yeosang has been begging me to make him a pearl and lily circlet for him lately,” you were saying, your accent curling curiously as your hands fluttered around you. “But who’s going to tell him the only pearls I have are the fake ones? I’m not going to give a dear friend a fake pearl circlet!”
Jeongin leaned on the table, his fingers lacing together as he stared at you incredulously. “Are you dense or just well and truly blind?” He asked, his voice betraying the extent of his exasperated amusement. You stopped and stared at him, your eyes narrowed. “What do you mean?”
“You’re talking to a seawalker, “ Jeongin pointed exaggeratedly to himself, “about lacking pearls.” Your eyes widened, palm smacking against your forehead in a rather comical manner. “Wow, I’m truly a few bolts short of normal today.” you grumbled before fixing Jeongin with a beseeching stare.
“Get me some pearls, please? My usual contact for them ran out and I’m sure I’m going to get orders from the seamstress for more pearl and rose-petal necklaces.”
The people of Busan had been collectively fascinated by the pretty young lady who set up shop in their market one day, your trade consisting of the most beautiful flowers laid over pieces of precious stones and jewellery. They flocked to your shop in awe, your wares sometimes running out before the day passed- how did your flowers not wilt for weeks? How did your jewellery never lose their shine? Little did they know you set a time-slowing spell on your pieces, slowing down the flowers’ wilt and the jewellery’s dulling to a great degree.
Jeongin sighed loudly, rolling his eyes despite the smile on his face. “Whatever. Meet me by the beach at dawn in 4 days.” Your eyes brightened immediately, a smile stretching out your lips as you slid off your bench to give Jeongin a tight hug, squealing excitedly.
“You’re the best.” you giggled, as Jeongin grimaced at the bodily contact, taking your original place on the bench. “I’m sure you spent your days dealing with me just so you could ask me to get you pearls for free one day.” Jeongin sighed dramatically as he sipped on his orange juice.
“Wait, you knew ?!” You gasped, your hand raising to cover your mouth in mock shock. “I thought I was doing a good job at pretending to be your friend!”
“You clearly weren’t.” Jeongin responded with a straight face, your eyes meeting and stares holding for a split second before you burst into pointless giggles.
“Don’t worry, I’ll get you those snacks you like from Daegu the next time you visit.” You grinned at him just as Yeosang dropped by with your order of food, your attention now speared on the dark-haired Fae boy. Jeongin watched in amusement as you explained Jeongin’s agreement to get you pearls for his long-awaited pearl-and-lily circlet, Yeosang’s green eyes lighting up in pure excitement at the prospect. You giggled as Yeosang patted the top of your heads in thanks before wandering back to Hongjoong, prompting you to focus on your food.
Jeongin held your friendship with him at the highest of regards, despite not knowing you for very long. You were fierce yet easy to amuse, soft with your sentiments and so very talented with your hands. Watching you piece together the strangest combinations of metal and flowers into the most beautiful pieces of jewellery would never stop fascinating him- your artistry effortless and so, so charming.
It was almost easy for time to slip by faster with you, your easy banter with him making time pass faster than he’d expect it to.
For once, however, he didn’t really mind it.

Telluride, Colorado.
2 years after they come back.
“Thank you, Mrs. Bradley! Have a good night!” You gently said getting the heavy paper bags with all the fresh ingredients for your wedding anniversary.
“For you too, Darling! Enjoy your husband!” The old lady smirks.
“You can count on that!”
Your life was perfect now. After Stark’s death and all the story with Thanos, most part of the heroes and allies decide to get there retire, and you are one of this people.
You cross the country moving from the Avengers compound to a small town in Colorado, laying down your weapons and abilities and getting your brushes and canvas. At somehow, you were still trying to save people, but now using art.
And you have him. The man who give you more than you expect: love, safety, partnership and calm. Blake was amazing. You two rebuild yourselves together when everything happened.
Blake used to be an Interpol agent and his wife and daughter died in a car crash when the Snap happened, there uber's driver faded away and the car fell off a cliff.
You two found each other in the help group Steve used to organized. You moved in together, you grow together, you cried together and fight together against your own demons. Blake supported your decision to risk your life on the time travel and fight the battle even knowing that the first man you ever loved would come back. Blake would love you regardless of the choice you would have made.
And you choose Blake, he was your future.
You drive through the shy suburb of the small town, and thank for being there.
At the end of the street, was your house. A yellow wood little house in the middle of a large grassy rectangle, surrounded by hibiscus and white roses.
Soon you get in, you start putting your plans in action. Pasta, broccoli, tomatoes, lettuce, Blake's favorite – weird – cheese, 3 bottles of wine. Cut, cook, wash, decorate, another glass of wine… shit, I can’t get high yet.
The music that was playing on the living room suddenly stopped and a strange familiar metal sound came to your ears.
After years surrounded by wars, crazy insane Titans, Hydra and Shield, your mind was pretty fucked up. So, yes, a nosy sound was something to worry about.
You walked slowly following what was bordering your thoughts, but you didn’t have to do too much. Just few steps, and you see him in the corner of the room. I’ll always be in the shadows, babe. The memory of his voice hits your mind like a shoot.
“You scare me…” You took one last sip of your wine.
“Your place is beautiful.” His eyes were haunted and his voice come out like a whisper.
You nodded smiling.
“How are you?” He tried to approach but stopped himself.
“Good. You know, retirement does me good.” You cross your arms, protecting yourself from your old feelings. “And you, how have you been? Still living in Wakanda?”
He faced the floor taking a deep breath.
“I… I left Wakanda right after you…” He hesitated and you knew why. “I'm working with Sam now.”
You try to keep smiling, but your eyes meet with his, and you could read them like an open book: He was broken.
James has a fucked up brain, he has his issues and Hydra problems, but the way he looked like now was something deeper. Years before, you saw this same look but was in your own eyes, every damn day, when you woke up and see yourself on the mirror.
He was alone, he missed you.
“James, say it.” You broke the silence and he frowned. “You invade my house at the exact moment my husband isn’t. The only thing that motivated you to came here is because you probably have something to say. So, please… Just say it!”
“I miss you!” He didn’t even search for the right words. “And I want you back. I need you back!”
“Don't!” You turn your back to him walking back to the kitchen. “Don't tell me you come here today to say this after all these two years, James.”
For the first time he come closer to you.
“What did you expect?” He asked confuse. “Y/N, do you really think I'm doing this for fun? You know this isn't easy for me, talk about these things, and I know you can read me easily than anyone.” He said fast.
“James, I know you're in pain. But, if is hard for you, believe me, it’s two times harder for me.” You point your finger to him. "For you was like fall asleep for a couple of hours, but for us, for me, was and still being an eternity.” Tears already falling in the corner of your eyes.
“So, what was the purpose, Y/N? Bring me back, so you could feel good to yourself and return to your happy fake life?” His voice sounded disappointed and his metal arm fisted against the sink. “эгоистичный!”
Your heart broke in little pieces and the control was gone.
"Don't you dare call me selfish!" Your voice was cracking and the regret filled his eyes. "Did you really think that I left you because I don't love you anymore?"
He took a long breath, and you try to hide your tears.
“You still love me?” He gets closer to you without losing the fragile eye contact.
“Is this matter now?” Your eyes break the contact running the kitchen and your hands falling down in redemption. “Don’t hurt yourself, моя любовь.” You asked.
He placed his hands on each side of your face and bring to his chest. The cold of the leather jacket in contact with your skin sent a shiver down your spine.
Even knowing this was – at somehow – wrong, you let yourself relax on his embracing. James was warm, his muscles created a protective barrier around you and his fingers caressed your body looking for all the parts where your skin were naked for him. Your arms crossed around his neck and on tiptoes you barred your face on his shoulder.
“You cut your hair…” Your cracking voice whisper to him trying to break the tension, while you run your hand through his hair strands.
“Like you always suggest.” He smirked bringing you to face him. Yours foreheads touched and his eyes found your soul. “Come back, Y/N! I do anything to have you back, моя любовь…” His lips brushed against yours. “Whatever you want, just tell me, and we will do it, okay?”
For a couple of seconds, you imagined your life with James. Maybe both of you living in a big farm, waking up together, getting back the time you two lost. Kisses, shy touches, his overprotection full time, your crazy manias and his strange neuroses. Was perfect. Was much better than the time you guys lived in Wakanda.
But was too late.
You were sure you didn’t take the break up decision alone. You have asked him what life he wanted for himself and he choose to continue Steve's legacy, but you wasn’t available to live that kind of life anymore. Follow different ways was the best decision.
He tried to kiss you hardly, but you get back.
“I can’t, James…” You grabbed his black shit. “We can’t…” He closed his eyes and kissed your forehead. He felt the goodbye was happening again.
The car's engine rumbled on the garage bringing you back to reality. Blake was arriving home.
“Y/N, we can…” James tried, but you knew what you have to do.
“Go.” You direct to the backyard door. “Now!”
“Where is my beautiful, lovely, super hot wife?” Blake screamed at the front door.
James leaves the house without looking to you, without any noise.
You clean the tears of your face, put on the best happy face and waited for your husband get in the kitchen.
“There she is!” His sexy voice said.
You turn around and there was Blake: dressed with his Professor social attire, flowers in one hand.
Blake you’re perfect.
“Hello, Mister sexy voice!” You kissed him slowly and intense.
But you’re not James…
He gets his hands free and finally hold you spinning around ourselves.
“You okay, honey?” He took a look on your eyes. “Looks like you cried, or something like that… Is everything good?”
Blake is perfect.
“Yes, honey!” You smile shooking your head and squeezing your eyes. “It’s just the wine!”
But he is not James…
The living player come back with the song. Último Romance / Last Romance, Los Hermanos. Your honeymoon song.
“Right on time!” Blake automatically pressed his body against yours and start following the music melody, singing slowly.
“I love you, Y/N. Happy wedding anniversary!” He kissed your neck.
“I love you too, honey. Thanks for everything…” You rest your head on his shoulder.
You two stayed on that moment, seams like forever. When your eyes find the kitchen’s window you locked on James's eyes, staring your perfect moment.
“E ninguém dirá que é tarde demais / And no one will say it’s too late
Que é tão diferente assim / That’s so different
Do nosso amor a gente é que sabe / About our love, is us who knows”
*******************************************************************************************
A/N: What you guys think about some continues of this one shot? Maybe like, Y/N and Bucky's  time living in Wakanda, or Y/N’s wedding day, Y/N and Bucky’s break up... I really enjoy write this story ahahahah :)

Nothing Like Bonding During A Storm
Summary: In a modern world, Toothless has trouble adjusting to the surface world. Fortunately, he knows he can always count on Hiccup, even when nature's extremes bring down her wrath on the world.
Rating: General
Characters: Hiccup, Toothless
Words: 3 075
Author’s Notes:
That moment when you finish and post a one-shot about an AU that's been developing since February before finishing the actual main fic.
Anyway, I've been watching a lot of videos on YouTube about tornadoes and I find them very fascinating to look at. I often find myself wondering "how do people deal with possible natural disasters in a world that has ended" and this came to mind.
This is basically just dipping my toe in a concept with countless of possibilities and I will probably return to it later to explore it some more.
I have barely slept the past two days, I hope it doesn't show in this one-shot. It doesn't feel as exciting as I want it to be.
Also, hopefully I can finally get the main fic over and done with instead of daydreaming about it. I literally have another finished one-shot of this AU that I haven't posted yet.
Constructive criticism is appreciated.
Enjoy!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hiccup muses that today is simply the culmination of his hubris. His natural and unrestrained curiosity, his want to travel, his workaholic tendencies, having a best bud for a dragon who would love to explore this new surface world with him... All of this was bound to come back to bite him in the ass someday and today is that day.
Flying way, way out West in the hopes of finding more human settlements that wished to regain contact with others, Hiccup and Toothless find themselves far away from home.
Though his father was initially against it, his plan on returning the vast network of communication that mankind once had before it was taken from them turned out to be a fruitful one and that is the only reason why Stoick ever agreed on letting Hiccup stray even farther away from home.
He still isn't quite so keen on letting his son out of his sight, even after all these years.
So far this country has been just as empty as he already figured it would be before they left Berk. It's been days since he and Toothless arrived and they have yet to find a single remaining human settlement.
Plenty of birds, critters, and other local wildlife, but no humans.
Not that they have managed to explore much. They have found an abandoned town close to a beach and spend a little while combing through it, but once it became clear that it was empty, they moved on.
But finding no human life on this mission to do just that will have to wait. There is a matter far, far more urgent that needed their attention.
High up in the sky, Toothless rumbles his concern to his Rider. Hiccup is already looking in the same direction he is, the map in his hands temporarily forgotten.
"I know, Bud. I'm keeping an eye on it, too." He tells him and it's as if the dragon understands, relaxing just a tad bit with the knowledge that Hiccup is aware of it, too.
In and around the Northern island of Berk, extreme weather isn't something Hiccup is unfamiliar with. The Winters could get so cold, especially during the weeks that he and his people nicknamed "Devastating Winter". A fitting name for the below-freezing temperatures and the blizzards that buried their houses annually.
Many people from different countries have called them stupid for continuing to live here, but then, they are descendants of the Vikings that once lived there. So maybe their problem isn't so much stupidity as it is pure stubbornness.
And with climate changing, though it has most likely slowed down since the year everything went wrong, the temperatures during Winter are even colder than they used to be when Hiccup was a child. And the Summers so much warmer.
On the North Sea, you can expect the occasional waterspout as well. But so long as it didn't come on land, it wasn't too much of a threat, not too much. For the island's inhabitants, that is.
But the clouds Hiccup and Toothless see swirling are a little too threatening for their comfort.
They are dark, appearing to be stacked on top of one another to create an uneven tower as wide as it is tall with a thick saucer-like shape at the base. The clouds that make up each level appear restless, opposite from their usually fluffy nature.
Above them and the flying duo lies a dark, ominous blanket that stretches for miles. There is a strong wind, conflicting up and downdrafts fighting for dominance, and they make the clouds and column dance and swirl. There is a downpour of rain and hail beneath as well. It makes the area underneath it seem foggy.
Their appearance makes Hiccup's heart swell in awe-inspiring trepidation and he has to swallow as his mouth feels dry. Meanwhile, Toothless looks on in fear.
He still hasn't had much experience with the surface's weather. The sight of this dark sky makes him feel like his heart is about to burst right out of his chest.
Hiccup hasn't forgotten, of course. He knows his Bud is completely inexperienced and relies on his Rider to know what is best.
Thankfully, always having been quite fascinated by things that could potentially kill him ever since he was young, Hiccup has done his fair share of research on certain weather phenomena. Much like Fishlegs and his interest in geology and mineralogy.
What Hiccup is staring at right now, it could possibly be called a mesocyclone.
There is a supercell inside that thing and the winds around them are getting harder to fight.
Lightning weaves its way through the clouds for miles. There are multiple strikes and they follow each other closely, speaking volumes of the storm's electrical strength. The thunder is a good indication of how close Dragon and Rider are, too. It is deafening.
Mindful of the metal holding Toothless' prosthetic together, Hiccup decides it is wise to land.
Folding the map in his hands up and pulling his backpack to his front to stuff it away, Hiccup then continues to look at the world below them.
There is plenty of space to land, lots of open fields for miles around them. But with how close those clouds are, Hiccup would feel better if there is a shelter or something they can hide in. Preferably a storm shelter just in case that supercell had a particular surprise in store for them today.
"Down there, Bud! Let's land and see if we can ride it out there." Hiccup tells his Night Fury when he spots two buildings on the ground with a fence all around the perimeter. An abandoned machine stands in the middle of an overgrown cornfield. It looks to be a farm.
Right at that moment, the downpour catches up and soaks them both in seconds and the winds grow even fiercer. Quickly after, hail that grows to be almost the size of the palm of his hand.
Toothless lets out a panicked yell, startled by the sudden shower.
"I know, Bud, I know! Set down near that farmhouse! Those wooden houses over there!" His Rider points them out to him and he folds his wings for a quick dive. While holding onto the saddle, Hiccup attempts to shield his dragon's eyes from the hail.
They land on the dirt road before the home that is swiftly becoming muddy beneath their feet. Toothless wastes little time to jump underneath the roofed porch, escaping the rainfall. Hiccup dismounts, pats his dragon on the neck, and goes to work on finding that storm shelter.
Sunlight teases them from the edges of the miles of clouds, but it is much too risky to try and escape this storm. Not with the speeds at which this supercell is traveling and certainly not with winds so strong possibly dislocating wings as wide as Toothless'.
Leaving the restless dragon on the porch, Hiccup runs down the steps and back out into the downpour, his prosthetic slipping in the mud. His hair and his clothes already stick to his skin.
One look told him the entrance to their salvation wasn't there under the porch. But on farmland miles away from the nearest city and closest hospital and with weather like this not being completely uncommon, there has to be shelter around here somewhere
Running around to the side of the house, it isn't long before Hiccup finds a set of slanted metal doors leading to a concrete room underneath the home where the basement should be. Approaching it and finding it without a padlock, Hiccup opens both doors and finds a stone stairway down into darkness. It's a storm shelter.
The hinges of the two doors rattle slightly with the wind and that worries him, but this place will have to do. No use taking to the skies now.
Something spooks Toothless and he calls out to his Rider. In the rain, thunder, and the hail, Hiccup can only just hear him and he turns around, shielding himself from the large chunks of frozen water, to find a sight that makes him stumble. His eyes would've widened in wonder if the rain didn't make it too difficult to see.
At the base of the mesocyclone, the rapidly whirling clouds have formed a greyish funnel-like shape that reaches for the earth. Witnessing the birth of what could possibly turn into a tornado, one of nature's most dangerous phenomena, is truly astonishing and Hiccup can hardly put his feelings into words. Such a library of languages at his disposal and not one word can describe them.
It is fast, too, much faster than he previously anticipated, and the girth is quickly gaining width as well.
But enough staring in wonder at nature's lethal beauty, Hiccup can tell that Toothless worries. That Night Fury has never seen anything like this before and is rightfully freaking out.
But what he can't tell and Hiccup can, is that the swirling of dirt and debris on the ground means that the tornado has already touched down and the funnel simply needs to follow to make its conception complete.
Hiccup also realizes, much too his growing discomfort, that it is much closer than he originally thought.
"Come on, Bud!" Toothless doesn't need to be told twice and he comes with a leap. Looking down into the shelter, he gives Hiccup a skeptical look.
"Hey, I may be an idiot, but humans know how to build things." Hiccup tells him, shouts at him over the growing noise all around them, though he worries whether his dragon will actually fit.
"This will keep us safe, Bud, trust me." He places a hand on Toothless' head, scratches him behind his earfin. The rain is pouring, the hail is falling, and his heart pumps blood through his veins with great speed, but Hiccup still smiles as if aerial wrath isn't about to descend upon them.
Where he gets that kind of bravery, Toothless honestly doesn't know.
Reassured by his Rider's calm demeanor, Toothless finds it in himself to descend into the near pitch-black shelter. The pouring rain stops for him.
Toothless fits and Hiccup feels comforted by this. It is without a doubt not spacious down there, but at least they won't have to face a storm that size.
Speaking of which, he turns to face the monstrous clouds behind him and his breath is taken away.
There is something gorgeous about the display he sees before him.
The funnel now connects the earth and the sky. The clouds are dark, but still, the tornado contrasts greatly against the grey background. The rain doesn't hide its deadly beauty and its enormous size makes him feels insignificant and small. More so than even Toothless had upon their first meeting.
If he'd been born and raised in this country, he probably would've become a storm chaser, of that Hiccup is sure. If life hadn't been turned upside down on a global scale.
Sounding almost like a human groaning in annoyance, Toothless briefly leaves the shelter to grab Hiccup by the shirt and pull him down the stairs.
"Yep! I'm coming! I'm coming!" Snapping out of the trance that will probably kill him someday, Hiccup follows.
Why must the human be so attracted to things that are lethal him? Are all humans like this or just his? He knows Astrid is a lot more careful than Hiccup.
"Toothless, can you find the light switch? I've shown you what they look like, right?" Hiccup asks as he struggles to close the metal doors. The wind has picked up and dirt is starting to fly up outside. The neglected fields are being flattened and by now the rotting fence in view is knocked down. Debris is approaching and before long the tornado itself will be there.
Two trees are uprooted just as Hiccup manages to hold them close and he fights the urge to figure out the EF ranking of this specimen.
The light flickers on and Hiccup finds the latch to keep the entrance closed. Once again he is grabbed by the back of his shirt and he lets Toothless pull him further down. He is in a hurry to get Hiccup with him.
There are many dusty shelves down here, but besides cobwebs and the occasional spider, they are already empty. Plundered empty, most likely. Or the family that lived here, took everything and left. Either way, there isn't much room for something the size of a Night Fury.
Toothless lies curled up with Hiccup in the middle and still he can only move so much.
The roaring of the storm outside grows and grows and the doors aren't quite enough to keep it out. The house above them begins to creak and groan as the unforgiving winds beat it mercilessly.
Despite his size and his lethal nature, Toothless shrinks underneath the unfamiliar noise that sounds so much louder in his sensitive ears. He's never been through a storm this size before. And while Hiccup hasn't either, he at least knows and understands what is currently raging right above them, tearing apart everything in its path.
"Shh, it's okay." Hiccup kneels beside him, pulse just slowing down.
The dragon's instincts are screaming at him to get out and flee, his fear is almost suffocating. All that grounds him now is his human's presence. In the still short time that they've known each other, Hiccup has already proven himself to be far braver than Toothless can ever call himself, though his Rider would disagree. He trusts his judgment.
The house above them gives in beneath the endless abuse and is loudly ripped from its foundation. It is proof of the twister's power.
The dragon yells in Hiccup's face as if he even needs to be told and the human pulls his head onto his lap and embraces it.
He can't imagine how scary this must be for him. Before the surface world, Toothless didn't even know what rain was. So extreme weather like this was like a nightmare come to life.
Wrapping his forelegs around his Rider, Toothless finds solace with him.
The two don't know which is louder. The thunder booming above them or the roaring of the twister that, by all likelihood, is leveling everything above them.
Hiccup attempts to cover his Bud's ears. His own eardrums feel like they are about to burst.
This couldn't have lasted for more then a couple of seconds with the wind speeds this storm travels with, maybe a minute or two at most, but it felt like an eternity. Toothless' grip on his Rider tightens.
And then it passes.
The roaring leaves them, the explosive thundering moves on. Gradually, careful silence returns.
Their ears continue to drum for a little while longer.
Toothless moves to look up to Hiccup to see what the knowledgeable human thinks, but Hiccup shakes his head and pulls him back down.
They wait for at least an hour just to be sure.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Toothless is close to napping when his Rider moves. Letting go, he raises his head to watch Hiccup rise awkwardly on his prosthetic.
He doesn't say a word as he climbs the stairs and out of Toothless' sight. The grating noise of metal sliding against metal reaches his ears and light comes shining down into the shelter.
Hiccup returns soon after with a smile.
"Come on out, Bud. It's safe now." He tells him and Toothless once again doesn't need to be told twice.
The air outside is relieving and welcomes the dragon as he ascends the stairs and exits the shelter. It is humid and a little chilly. Toothless takes a deep sniff and still smells the rain.
The tornado is gone and the wind has calmed. The once quaint farmland, though abandoned, is in ruins all around them. The long grass of the fields and the weeds lie flat against the ground, there is corn all around them, and trees are torn in two or entirely uprooted. Half of the barn has collapsed, but the house has been mostly leveled. Nearby lie the crushed remains of a metal contraption that humans call a car.
Turning his head, in the far distance, Toothless spots the dark tower and lightning is still striking. The thunder isn't as loud now.
But Hiccup isn't looking at the carnage. Hands on his hips, he is staring up at the sky.
Coming to stand next to him, Toothless follows his example.
The clouds above them, now tinted a lovely orange, are strangely shaped now. There is an entire blanket of them separating the earth and the sky above it. There are rows and rows of fluffy pouches that reflects the light of the sun beautifully.
He can see why Hiccup would smile at the sight. And in an area as abandoned as this, no human or dragon life was lost that they know of, so they can only bask in the moment.
"Glad we got that tornado warning, huh, Bud? The movies never said that we still needed to deal with natural disasters. Ah well, the joys of a post-apocalyptic world, I guess." Toothless doesn't know what his Rider is talking about, probably something he used to know from the time before their worlds met.
Hiccup kicks a nearby wooden board away and removes his backpack to check its contents. There are some things in there that can't get wet. Fortunately, it is a good backpack and everything inside it is still dry. He briefly ponders his raincoat, but leaves it. His plaid shirt and the one beneath it are already wet, no use pulling it out now.
But they were lucky, that is for sure. They are probably bruised, to be sure, but that the hail didn't hit them in the head, or the eyes in Toothless' case, is nothing short of a miracle. And to come upon this abandoned land with a storm shelter when they needed it most... If people still lived here then he and Toothless would have been forced to brave the storm.
Though they can still see flashes of lightning in the clouds in the far distance, the storm is dying. And with the sun setting in the horizon, Hiccup figures it is probably wise to find a nice spot to spend the night. Somewhere far away, where he would be certain they will be safe.

The 6 things that crushed dads in the last 50 years.
The 6 things that crushed dads in the last 50 years.
This experiment is over. It is a complete disaster. A failure. Single moms are not the answer to a better society.  Stupid dads are not the answer for a more united America. Locked-up dads are not the answer.  Uninvolved dads are not the answer.
The studies are boring to read but unanimous. When dad is in the home (regardless of the quality of dad) kids perform better in school and achieve higher education than their peers with no dad in the home. Income is higher in a home with a dad in it than in homes without a dad. Poverty rates skyrocket when there is no dad in the home. Dependence on welfare skyrockets when dad is no in the home. Crime rates are crazy high in households that do not have a dad present. Kids raised in a home with dad present have much more opportunity in life.
Teenage pregnancy skyrockets in households without a dad, leading to a continued cycle. Mental health issues are much higher in homes where dad is gone. The odds are ever in your favor when Dad is home. Your odds tank when dad is gone. That is white paper research. Decades of studies. Government-funded. From many many different research organizations.
This is what we have done over the last 50 years to destroy the family unit and take Dads out of the home.
Shift in Workplace
The shift in economics was a real cause. Dads were home and their presence was felt. They were often farmers or local merchants. As the world shifted so did families. Small farms disappeared. Industrial Revolution called for workers to spend long, hard, dangerous days away from the home. Eventually, companies became bigger and bigger with national reach. Local shops shuttered in exchange for big box stores. Sales became a leading career. Dads traveled, they moved, they spent more time away from their families. No more working side by side in the fields. No more being taught how to fix things and make the farm run. No more stopping by dads store and spending time learning the family business. Now dad was either out of town or working for a company where having your family stop by would be frowned upon.
Let’s not forget more and more women going into the workplace. Which often meant more and more influence in raising kids not coming from the parents. Even with Dad gone, to some extent, mom kept his memory alive in the house. “Our” rules were still enforced. Our values. And Mom was gonna tell dad when he did get back home.
Move to Public Education As the world keeps on spinning most people go with it. And public education became and has become a massive influence in American lives. I’m not going to bash public education because education truly is important. There are other options, and our family has avoided the public-school route. Education in small schoolhouses was a much different picture of education than it is today. Today’s kids spend an incredible amount of time inside the school system and much of that time is not productive. Todays students graduate not nearly as educated as they should be. The US ranks very poorly in worldwide education standards despite being the heaviest spender. Regardless of my views here 2 things come from this shift. A massive amount of the day is spend being influenced by people who are not Dad (or Mom). And since teaching is a field dominated by women there are arguments that the shift of so much time without male role models is the reason masculinity has declined and become attacked.
Court Systems
Ask any dad that has had to go through the court system and he will admit the deck is stacked against you. Courts have predetermined that Dad is not important and his value is in check writing. “And if you force our hand then fine---here are some days you can see your kids. Be thankful for the scraps we just tossed you.” – Signed family judges everywhere
Family Courts have crippled Dad's influence in kids' lives. And its politicians that create the laws and incentives Judges follow. Did you know states receive federal dollars based on how much they are having to collect in child support. If you want to know why courts stack against dads and care mostly about child support.......there is some real incentive for states to get the child support number as high as they can.
My other target is Dads here. As much as I am disappointed in the judges. Dad allowed the situation to get to a point where a judge decides what he can and can’t do. I know moms are at fault too. But this is a dad page. Dad’s – Sex can make babies. Stop having sex with crazy women. Marry women you want to spend your lives with. Make sure you guys are on the same page with life- how to manage money, how to raise kids, how many kids, what faith you are and want to raise kids in, how involved in-laws can be in our lives…. these are some of the biggest issues. Some of these divorce stories I hear, ya’ll can do better.
Politician Passing Stupid Laws
I do not like politicians. I think they are all slime balls. Even the ones you like. Especially the ones you do not like. They make incredibly stupid laws. Lets call out these idiots for a bit, not that they will be held responsible or even accept blame.
Child support is collected by states and used as the measuring stick for how much federal money states get. States get more money from the federal government when they collect more child support. Wonder why dads don’t get custody when they should? Wonder why Dads get stuck with a heavy bill and limited contact?
Welfare rules and government incentives finance the breaking up of families because hell the government will pay you for that. Politicians create laws that incentivize the breaking up the family unit especially in low-income and minority families. There has been a real effort to replace the husband and the father with a government handout.
There is a lot of chatter about laws passed that disproportionately took minority fathers out of the home and into jail for relatively minor offenses. I haven’t seen enough to make a judgment, but I would not be surprised at all.
Remember while there is always someone to blame-- we can take power out of the courts and politicians' hands by making good decisions and not ending up reliant on government money or stuck in their courts. When dads step up and become great we make all this way less relevant.
Entertainment Finds Ratings in Crushing Dads
Gone are the true role models of Dads. The Leave It to Beaver type dads are gone. The Dad with high integrity, that did not get caught up in drama, and was always good for dispensing wisdom and seriousness.  Now the leading TV dads are the butt of the joke. While I admit it's often funny. I’m also certain we are a culture easily influenced by entertainment and the stigmas in tv influence generations and how they act. Now they are idiots. Mom is the smart one that really does everything. Dad drinks beer, watched tv, groans about doing any work, loves sports more than his family, and is clueless and clumsy. Luckily, mom is there to do literally everything. No respect, No honor, no integrity. Let’s be honest…. that doesn’t get laughs. Decades of that humor on top of not actually having dads in the home and a dramatic rise in how much we watch tv has reshaped what many men think a dad should act like and be like. It’s a wrong interpretation and families are paying the price. It must be recognized that tv dads are punchlines, not actual real dads that should be modeled after.
Feminism
Before I get torched let's clarify a few things. Women are great. Women are strong. Women are smart. Women are capable. I am not saying otherwise. Feminism was needed for the evolution of the world because there was no voting for women and workplaces shy’d away from women and certainly would not pay them well. And at higher levels of business, they were being turned down opportunities when they were more qualified and talented. It was needed. Some feminists have taken the cause way further. The ones saying women should be single and not get married. Single moms are better than married moms. Career women are better than stay-at-home moms. This is where the rest of the world rejects the cause. Now feminists divide and attack women. It's more that men are evil and toxic. These views attack marriage, child-raising, and healthy families. That’s simply wrong.
You tie all these together and you see how they feed each other. The feminist desire to put all women in the workplace means there’s more burden on school systems to raise kids. The courts and politicians feed the "see men are bad" crowd. Entertainment rears a generation that is not influential and present in their kids lives. The cycle turns and turns spewing out more and more kids born out of wedlock. Not raised in the family unit. More likely to be raised and influenced by underperforming schools and disappointing entertainment options.
Dads – Break the cycle. Avoid this fate. Be a prominent and influential role model. Stay away from the courts and politicians. The more we know and recognize the more we can fight against this rigged system. Just because the deck is stacked against you doesn’t mean you won’t come out on top. Shoulder back, head up high, power forward. You got this.
And to the rest of the world. This is a stupid trend. If you want to make a world a better place with less crime, poverty, less welfare, fewer taxes (because of reduced crime and welfare), better communities, better education….it goes on and on….DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN TO KEEP FAMILIES TOGETHER!!!!!!
Make Dad the center of the family. Make dads the source of wisdom and influence. It solves so many problems in this country!!

Kurt's Blog
Hi my name is kurt paul L perez and im 17 years old,When i grow up i would like to be a biologist or a wildlife researcher
I see our community as a cheerful and a hardworking community however their are times we are often ignorant and greedy on our acts.As a student i would raise awareness by spreading the proper knowledge on our current social issues so that people will be woke with the current issues and how we can work together in order to fix it.
Reflection paper.
Significance and scope
1)This issue matters to me kse usto ko lng na talaga umunlad ang philipinas sa hirap at para ren may mga trabaho na ang mga walang trabaho at di na magugutom ang mga tao ulit.
2)The people because we depend on it on our everyday life and this is were we get our expenses.
3)this issue started at the 1990 when we stopped focusing on our agricultural practises.
Connections
1)This issue did not change people are still blind and did not mind the fact that we could become rich and powerful if we would just trust in our own agricultural powers and resources and that we would not need to depend on other countries for their help.
2)If we would not do anything about it the philipines would just depend much more on exported goods rather than making and importing the things we could make and do.
3)This is connected to everything because if we just trusted in our agricultural practises like before our economy would prosper and this could have an huge impact on the philipines just because we are good at farming and making rice.
4)Yes it is cause agricultural before is our source of income and that is the thing that boosted our country before but it changed just because of people now a days are buying exported products.
5)Its a problem cause farmers are now struggling just to make a living everyday because philipinos buy exported rice from other country's rather than on supporting our's.
6)This is a problem if we don't do anything our local farmers would go hungry and would not earn any money.
Reflection
1)I feel sad because our government did not noticed this and did anything because that we could make quality rice more than any country could because that is the best thing we do and that our land is rich with minerals,I just felt really dissapointed also because they could have done something just by selling our own rice to other countries and eating our locally made food.
2)We could have prevented this from happening this from the start if we just trusted and that we should not depend on other countries for their rice and other products.by now if we did not stopped making and selling our own rice the philipines today is very prosperous and that everyone would have a job.

SS SA#1
So the COVID-19 pandemic previously began at Wuhan at a wet commercial center from defiled
bats or different creatures that are on the lookout and that individuals are beginning to get
tainted individually from the infection until it spread worldwide from transportation, canned
products, conveyances, creatures, and from the ordinary items we contact. In any case, I accept
that this should be a bioweapon that china was trying and was made within a lab in Wuhan
where they made the infection and tried it to individuals on what could the impacts be
nevertheless nobody knows reality with regards to it however we likewise should be cautious on
what we eat to ensure that it is truly consumable and appropriately cleaned before serving or
eating it to keep getting any sort of disorder from it.
The Coronavirus pandemics truly did an enormous effect on us monetarily as well as in any
conceivable manner, our economy truly dropped drastically yet now is gradually turning out to
be ordinary again.this also did a very huge impact on our health because old and young kids
tend to be more susceptible to the virus because of weak or weakened immune systems and
that all of us need to do a mandatory quarantine when we go back to the philippines and a swab
test to see weather they are positive or negative once they got their results if they are negative
they would travel and go to other places if not they are going to be forced for self quarantine.
The safety of the filipinos is in-danger because we tend to not be serious at this pandemic only
from the start and that people now are being not aware that the covid pandemic is still here and
is very active and we tend to not mind it anymore by going outside and not wearing a mask and
going into huge gatherings like going to the mall and party celebrations. Even tho we are
protected by wearing masks and "social distancing" we can't deny the fact that the covid it over
because when you look at how many filipinos are infected it is already at the 300000 plus and
even going up even more slowly but surely if we don't do anything about this in no time we
would reach 1millon people that are infected at the philippines from this virus,to be honest the
government is not doing that much to help stop the covid pandemic.they are not putting more
efforts into our healthcare instead they had the money to improve manila bay instead of
spending it for our healthcare helping people. And funding more hospital beds or places where
people are infected could stay first.the citizens are helping as much by giving relief goods for the
people who could not get out of their places and by donating money to the hospitals to further
improve their healthcare.the ongoing developments on helping the pandemic ease is slow but is
working,by mass testing and giving people loan or money to the people to help finance their
everyday needs, for me all we need to to is full cooperation and trust on the government
hopefully that they would take this pandemic very seriously and help us rise again from the
pandemic and to be covid free for us to have a normal life again.

BRAIN DRAIN.
Every Filipino medical professional knows the statistics. In recent years, this Southeast Asian
nation has ranked number one for exporting nurses and number two for sending doctors
overseas, according to the University of the Philippines in Manila.
Between 2004 and 2010, nearly 72 000 Filipino nurses were newly employed or rehired abroad,
according to data from the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration. The latest specific
numbers date back to 2008, when then-health secretary Francisco Duque estimated that 85% of
Filipino nurses were working in Western countries, while 70% of Filipinos were dying without
medical attention — a death rate not seen since the 1970s.
But Kenneth Ronquillo, director of the Health Human Resource Development Bureau of the
Department of Health, says the much-reported brain drain is, in fact, a myth.
“In terms of absolute doctors and nurses, the Philippines has always had an ample supply,” he
says.
And in the wake of the 2008 global financial crisis, the Philippines may actually be facing the
opposite problem — a surplus — as a result of the fall in overseas demand. In mid-2011, the
Philippine Nurses Association warned that 287 000 nurses in this country of 90 million people
were either unemployed or lacking sufficient hours.
The other key concern has been that, too often, the best-qualified and best-trained doctors and
nurses are the ones who leave. Though overseas demand has, conversely, raised domestic
standards, says Ronquillo.
“The international community preference for our experienced nurses has led to higher
expenditures for training and development of fresh, local graduates,” he says, adding that
Western countries typically require two to three years prior experience.
The real problem in the Philippines, says Ronquillo, is that money is not being spent to make
sure that medical human resources are spread equitably across this archipelago nation; remote
areas are not only lacking doctors and nurses, but also hospitals and clinics.
So first of all i just wanted to point out that the main reason for this is low salary and on how
much we don't look at the naturally talented ones with the proper education because on how
some families don't have the sufficient money to help their sons to go onto proper education and
that itself is just wasted potential and that only the smart and talented doctors are almost all
overseas because of the high pay and lots of benefits for me its a waste cause we need them
here more. However due to the low pay and less benefits they rather work abroad and that the
cause of these is the government they don't give them a rise when they are the one of the most
important people we need for me lastly is that i hope that the government would do something
abt this cause for me this is just a huge waste on professional doctors because it would really
help us even now, because of the pandemic,

CONTRACTUALIZATION
There are many companies in the Philippines who have resorted to hiring people on a
contractual basis even if they are working on regular, ongoing tasks like normal employees
would in a company. As a result, these non-regular employees are deprived of the opportunity to
get secure, long-term employment. In most cases, they also do not receive the employee
benefits due them.
What is “endo?”
Endo is a colloquial term coined from shortening the phrase, “end-of-contract.” Here in our
country, employers are required to regularize employees after six (6) months of working for the
company, so some companies try to game the system by means of only hiring workers for a
maximum of five (5) months. The governing law regarding this matter is detailed under Article
281 of the Labor Code of the Philippines, which reads:
Probationary employment shall not exceed six (6) months from the date the employment. In most cases, they also do not receive the employee
benefits due them.

8)Second trime exam
) The issue is about ladies segregation and sexual orientation separation that they generally
consider ladies or and others in unexpected sex in comparison to they couldn't dominate same
as men do and that ladies or others of another sex consistently have been peered down
grinding away and are constantly tormented and annoyed. It's not generally men who are
predominant they generally imagine that they are prevalent than ladies since they think they are
more grounded and we ladies are powerless, well truth be told we are altogether equivalent.
With regards to the work environment, there is a much more grounded sense among the public
that the battleground is lopsided, still a disparity in compensation for people during a similar
occupation which is a demonstration of sex separation in the work environment. Sex
segregation is characterized as bias or separation dependent on a person's sexual orientation.
Sexual orientation balance is achieved when people can get to and appreciate equivalent. With

Sexual orientation balance is achieved when people can get to and appreciate equivalent prizes
and openings independent of their sex. Different nations have gained generous ground
concerning sex balance in ongoing periods. On the other hand, ladies actually persevere
through less compensation.
2) The difficulty that has caused this is that men's voice consistently pondered giving ladies the
simpler activities at work since they figure ladies couldn't find men doing the things they
accomplish in their work. Also, that the impact is that men regularly consider fewer ladies in light
of this that on the off chance that they are given a similar undertaking as to the men they
couldn't do it or do it as same as them. Large numbers of the state laws presently set up are
comparative in nature to government social liberties laws yet may offer extra assurance against
work related separation. Practically all states have received segregation laws identified with
work, with security against separation dependent on different elements, for example, race,
sexual orientation, age, conjugal status, public beginning, religion, or handicap.
The parts of government that are resolving this issue is the branch of equity that expresses
that any sort of separation or harassment of various sexes isn't permitted and you could be
placed into prison for segregating anybody regardless of the sex nor race of the person in
question is in no means are in effect yet appeared or improvement however for me I would
solve is to treat everybody the same and to never peer down on their gender, race nor
monetarily and that they base them on their skills, hard work and outlook on their work as
opposed to being one-sided based by the sex.

included Roger Capacito and his wife and the spouses Borah and Arsolin Illustrismo at the
Capacito residence located at Barangay Talisay, Sta. Fe, Cebu. Rogelio Rayco left the group to
go home about an hour later. On his way home, he saw his niece, Lenlen Rayco, with appellant
Dindo Mojello, a nephew of Roger Capacito, walking together some thirty meters away towards
the direction of Sitio Kota. Since he was used to seeing them together on other occasions, he
did not find anything strange about this. He proceeded to his house. On December 16, 1996,
between 5:00 to 6:00 a.m., the Rayco family was informed that the body of Lenlen was found at
the seashore of Sitio Kota. Rogelio Rayco immediately proceeded to the site and saw the
lifeless, naked and bruised body of his niece. Rogelio was devastated by what he saw. A
remorse of conscience enveloped him for his failure to protect his niece. He even attempted to
take his own life several days after the incident. Appellant was arrested at Bantayan while
attempting to board a motor launch bound for Cadiz City. On an investigation conducted by
SPO2 Wilfredo Giducos, he admitted that he was the perpetrator of the dastardly deed.
Appellant was assisted by Atty. Isaias Giduquio during his custodial interrogation. His
confession was witnessed by Barangay Captains Wilfredo Batobalanos and Manolo Landao.
Batobalanos testified that after it was executed,

Definition of extrajudicial killing is when a government official is involved in an incident when they kill a person without sanction of any legal process. The usual targets are: political, trade union, dissident, religious. The well known example is a grade 11 Senior high school named Kian Loyd Delos Santos.
He was killed in Caloocan City. And the police claim that Delos Santos was involved in a drug operation in the place, and then they said that the victim was a drug runner and fired at him with a .45 caliber pistol during the incident. But the eyewitness said that they saw the policeman dragged Delos Santos in the dark alley, and shot him three times, leaving his body in a pen for pigs. Both PAO and NBI filed murder charges to those officers involved in the Delos Santos incident. Two days later a similar case also in Caloocan city also there was a teenager named Arnaiz 18 year old,and a former student in the University of the Philippines.Police claimed that the victim was robbing a taxi driver, and automatically shot him.According to Dr Edwin Erfe, chief of the Public Attorney’s Office forensic laboratory services, found in their autopsy that Arnaiz has deep abrasion and marks of showing he was handcuffed, dragged and severely beaten.De Guzman,Arnaiz’s last known companion, was found in a creek in Gapan Nueva Ecija province on September five.It was quite unclear how De Guzman Really died. After the forensics examination it showed that De Guzman has been stabbed 26 times, the knife pierce to his lungs and heart.According to Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre III,that some wounds Deguzman gain ,and indicated that the killers continue stabbing the victim even he already died.According to Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency,4,948 suspected drug users and dealers died during police operations from July 1,2016 to September 30,2018.They do not include the others who was killed by “unidentified gunman”.Philippine National Police claim 22,980 deaths since “war on drugs”.And began to be classified as “homicides under investigation”.his law has to stop, because it doesn't give a chance to the drug pushers and dealers to have a second chance to restart all over again ,and to those who were brutally murdered the innocent should be removed from their duty to set an example to not make the same mistake twice.

Tumblr media
Soooo here is my third child, Daisy. I hope you guys enjoy her! I drew some slight inspiration from past muses of mine and Peyton Sawyer from One Tree Hill.
Born and raised in a small, rural town in Georgia. Now, when I say small, I say SMALL. Like, a popular or less than 2,000 people. So, everyone generally always knew another. Close, tight knit community.
The youngest out of three children. She has two older brothers; one that is two years older and one that is four years older.
Grew up in a very strict, religious household. Went to church every Sunday. Prayed at dinner every night, read the bible constantly. Very, very strict and conservative family values, folks.
Her mother is a nurse and her father is a farmer and football coach. They grew up on a family farm with lots of land, animals, etc. She always had memories of waking up early to feed the pigs, cows, chickens, and knows how to ride a horse.
Ever since she could remember, she was involved in something. Started taking beauty lessons and dance classes as soon as she could walk. Daisy began doing local beauty pageants within the state and she was quick to become a star. She would win competition after competition, getting so many trophies and ribbons. They filled her room and home. The girl was miss teen Georgia for several years in a row, becoming Miss Teen USA when she was sixteen.
Also was involved with cheerleading and other clubs while she was in high school, she was very popular and always was nominated for dance royalties.
With being the only girl in the family, she was always on a rather tight leash. She was never allowed to date or be around boys, her family being afraid she was going to get heart broken.
As she got older, she began to question a lot of things. Her own religion and just herself in general? She always felt like she was being forced to be somebody she really wasn’t and having to live in the shadows of others, being molded to be somebody her parents loved and nothing more.
She began to express an interest for music when she was around 10, 11? Started covering country songs as apart of the talent portion of her competitions and as she got older, her taste in music switched to rock. Began to idolize people like Avril Lavinge, Hayley Williams, Joan Jett, etc. They just all seemed so cool and free-spirited. She wanted that.
High School went by quickly and she honestly didn’t want to go to college. She wanted to travel and move somewhere to start a music career. Daisy tried to explain this to her parents but they didn’t care, they thought it was a stupid idea.
Daisy would be stuck between a rock and a hard time. She would try to please her parents and go to college and major in something she would hate, or take a risk.
She somehow would get enough guts within herself to just, run away. Literally. The day before her high school graduation, she packed up everything she could and took her old, beat up pickup truck and left. She left a note explaining that this was what she needed. For the past almost eighteen years of her life, she didn’t even know who she was.
The young girl had no destination or true goal where she was going, she just needed to get away. Eventually made her way up until Tennessee before her truck would break down. A nice, old man would try to help fix it up for her but there was no hope for the Ford truck. He would offer to trade her truck for his old, newly renovated WV van. She took the offer and it would be the best thing to ever happen to her.
Daisy was now the proud owner of a baby blue, VW van that would be her home. Living out of a van was different and a challenge, but brought her so many amazing opportunities.
Over the next few years, she would be off the grind. She deleted all of her social media and didn’t keep in contact from anybody back home. She would travel all across the united states, her favorite places being California and Wyoming.
Daisy would stay in certain states for a few months at a time, working odd end jobs to make money. Mostly waitressing or playing local gigs. She wasn’t making much, but enough to get by.
Heard her cousin Spencer was living in New York and decided, hey, that’ll be my next stop for a bit.
Is very new to Kingsboro and has been there for a day. She’s not sure how long she’ll be here, but she’s enjoying it so far. Wants to try to start up a serious band and or meet other musicians in the neighborhood.
OTHER INFO:
It took her a long time to realize, but she considers herself pansexual.
Still very much has a cute lil’ southern accent
Her favorite drink is lemonade and sweet tea with lots of sugar
Is a strong lover of breakfast food
Has learned to accept more of her natural beauty, being forced to live behind fancy dresses, makeup, and hair for years
Can play the guitar and drums
Her van’s name is Wendy

The Mystery of the Aussie
Investigating family history can be a time-eater. When the shelter-in-place order came down this spring, with it came a rare gift of time for me to write about my family history book experience. Just one faded black and white photo of an uncle launched my search.
“Left poor. Went to Australia. Married a White lady. Returned rich,” claimed my Mother-in-Law. I thought to myself, “Could her uncle really have left their farming village and done all that?!”
Years later my curiosity fueled a search for more of his story and clues that might lead to his descendants. How could her uncle have really traveled across Asian seas to a distant continent more than 4,000 nautical miles south of China? It was the late 1800s. Why would he leave? Did he really get rich or did Nai Nai’s childhood memory imagine it? She’s no longer here to ask. How could I find out?
Facts about this uncle were scarce. He was born in 1870. Few people were left who knew of him. A cousin gave me an email address to his cousin in Australia. That started my journey.
After occasional correspondence, asking every relative if they knew anything about him and meeting new cousins in Australia, Hong Kong, and China, I at last collected enough material for a backstory.  I studied Chinese-Australian migration. I discovered robust online resources like the National Archives of Australia and the Queensland State Archives. I joined a genealogy writing group who gave me honest feedback on my drafts. Worldwide cousins shared a few memories and photos. Each revelation was a gift. I was excited to be able to tell my family the story of a distinguished forebear.
As I worked towards a final manuscript, I investigated printing, publishing, and promoting. A six year seat-of-the-pants journey. Along the way I learned about copyrights, ISBNs, and crafting engaging book pitches to libraries and museums.

Cover of The Mystery Aussie, Pamela’s book chronicling Jan See Chin’s life.
As it turned out, Granduncle Jan See Chin’s life path really was astonishing. At the turn of the 20th Century, Jan See Chin transformed himself from an unassuming young man to a sugar cane plantation magnate. He forged a legacy of influential projects in both his adopted country of Australia as well as his own Shekki village in Kwangtung.
Times were tough. In desperation Jan See Chin’s father sent his son abroad at the of age 15 to find work and remit money home to the family.
Traveling alone on a three week voyage from Hong Kong through the South China and Coral seas, he arrived in Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, at that time a Crown Colony of the British Empire. Thousands of other Chinese laborers also sought work in Australia, often scraping by in the few arduous jobs open to Chinese such as sheep herder, garden worker or laborer on the sugar cane plantations.
Living frugally, Jan See Chin sent money home but also saved to buy a small plot of land on which to grow vegetables. Along the way he met Pang Yung, a businessman from his village, who had a store in the town of Cairns in the far north part of Queensland. Pang Yung and his white British wife had two daughters. One of those daughters was named Maud. Maud and See Chin married in 1902. Their marriage partnership would thrive for 26 years as they raised 13 children.
Living economically and saving enough to purchase modest plots of farmland at discounted Crown Land Sales, See Chin and Maud gradually expanded their holdings to an incredible 3,000 acres of sugar cane plantation land. By 1915, See Chin was recognized as Australia’s biggest individual grower of cane in tropical far North Queensland.

For the next 15 years, Jan See Chin and Queensland’s other Chinese cane plantation owners struggled to keep their robust cane businesses afloat amid a flood of nationalism rising up in the newly federated commonwealth of Australia. Powerful, virulent voices stoked fear of people who looked different than the ruling British citizenry. The government adopted no less than 15 official acts to intentionally disadvantage Chinese plantation owners and drive them away. The Acts penalized only the Chinese, imposing fines, withholding sugar bounties, and prohibiting them from hiring any non-White labor.
One Act, the Immigration Restriction Act 1901, prohibited entry of Chinese and colored immigrants and mandated immediate deportation of Pacific Islanders who were already working on the cane plantations of the Chinese growers. This became known as the White Australia policy. Chinese seeking to enter Australia were required to take an English dictation test of a 50-word paragraph. Failure led to immediate deportation.
The obstacles became so egregious that the Chinese plantation owners left. Jan See Chin was one of the last two Chinese growers who held out. But eventually, he, too, conceded that the environment in Australia was too hostile to continue to do business. He sold his acreage, packed up his household and growing family of eight and sailed to Hong Kong.
Intending to set up a temporary home base for his family, See Chin acquired a spacious flat in Hong Kong and enrolled his children in private, Anglican schools. Then he turned his attention to his home village of Ho Tau in the Kwangtung Province to build a family mansion.
Once in Ho Tau, See Chin noticed that the villagers lacked conveniences he had become accustomed to in Australia. Motivated to help the village modernize, he recruited other overseas Chinese to form a community development club. The club set about to build an electric company, rice-hulling mill, weaving factory, as well as a system of plumbing to bring water to the village.
Most of Shekki County lacked an effective way to transport local goods between the village and other parts of the province, let alone with the international port of Macau. See Chin’s solution was to plan and finance the first paved road in the entire province of Kwangtung.
He co-founded the Kee Kwan Road Construction Co., Ltd. which inaugurated the first phase of the 30-mile highway in 1928 to great fanfare. The celebration attracted luminaries as well as tens of thousands of onlookers. The presence of this seminal road and the busses and trucks purchased for it catapulted the Shekki District into the commercial powerhouse it remains today.
But all did not go smoothly. During the 1920s & 30s, rampant banditry pervaded southern China, often targeting wealthy families. One bandit gang kidnapped his 16-year-old son, tethering him to a post for over three months while demanding a ransom of 15,000 pounds (equivalent to over $1 million today). See Chin negotiated a reduced ransom of 2,000 pounds and the traumatized young man was eventually released.
Villagers motivated to improve their farms or start a small business lacked the means to borrow money. See Chin established banks in the village, Shekki, and Hong Kong. But two Canadian bankers embezzled funds and poisoned See Chin to cover up the crime. Jan See Chin died at the age of 59. His wife, Maud See Chin, had just birthed their 13th child and would spend the next few years pursuing justice for her husband’s murder, a fight that went all the way to the highest court in the land called the Privy Council.
----
The Mystery Aussie: Jan See Chin is a self-published biography about a granduncle who left China as a humble farmer boy and made a fortune in Australia amid exclusion and bigotry in the time of the White Australia policy.  Author Pamela Lee Wong portrays Chinese immigrant experiences against the backdrop of historical events. Passionate about preserving oral stories about experiences of the elders, she writes with future generations in mind to help them understand that they stand on the shoulders of their predecessors.

long ass fucking meta under the cut on alm’s growth, primarily focused on his shift in values (and also going into what they were to begin with) as his character arc in fire emblem gaiden. all quotes used in this are subsequently from that game.
alm’s main flaws are his naivete and his impulsiveness. when going on gut instinct while you, frankly, have less information on what’s happening around you, that’s just dangerous. alm’s victories are won by the knowledge mycen has drilled into him since he’s been a child ( after all, mycen knew that one day alm would have to set out in a war against rigel should things go to plan ) and his own unique strength. alm is mentioned to be a cut above the rest, reflected in how he is not only a unique class but also his stats being higher than even lukas, someone with actual military training, from the beginning. kliff has good reason to feel insecure and implore alm to be the one to save him in a pinch, and this strength plus alm’s good heart is likely what landed him a leadership position within his childhood friend group.
is alm’s strength something deriving from his genes? a blessing from his cross-shaped birthmark? something to truly set himself as a rigelian and not a zofian? i could speculate all day if i wanted to, but that matters not for the main argument i have to bring here: alm’s strength is what allows him to get his goals, and his goals are ones most agree with because he has a good heart, thus with power and kindness, what he needs most now is to mature mentally and see the world differently from how he did when he started his adventure.
alm grows up incredibly sheltered. being raised in ram village, he has lived most of his life in a far corner of valentia, unable to come into contact with much of anything. his education is implied to be solely through what mycen teaches him, and considering the low profile mycen was trying to keep, it is unlikely alm traveled much or had any reason to gain information or mature his world view. the fighter lacks experience, and he merely thinks like how his neighbors do as commoners.
he believes in the idea that mila will save them. the earth mother is all what zofians have relied upon for many years, leading consequently to their sloth. mila has blessed them with bounty and the people celebrate her. as someone growing up in a farming and ranching village with a large focus on winery, it makes entire sense that he was raised in a community that praised mila more than anything, for it was her blessings that has made their primary source of income able to work. they don’t have a plan b without her. alm defaults to faith in her, unable to come to terms on his own that they would ever be without her even in the face of a very certain famine. this is why his conversation with forsyth is so important.
Forsyth: It seems that Desaix’s requested aid from the northern power Rigel. Zofia’s forces can’t compare to the might of the knights of Rigel. If the Kingdom of Rigel makes a move, we won’t stand a chance.
Alm: But the “Pact of the Gods” upheld by Zofia and Rigel means we shouldn’t come to blows, right? Our guardian, the Lady Mila, would never permit such a thing.
Forsyth: Yeah, but see… There’s a rumor, it seems, that Lady Mila’s disappeared. Hey, hey. Don’t be so surprised. After all, it’s been kind of weird lately, hasn’t it? Around here, the crops have been failing, and all that’s showing up are a bunch of strange demonic creatures. You can’t help but wonder if the powers of Lady Mila, Protector of the Earth, are waning. Well, if you go to the Temple of Mila, you should be able to find out if this rumor’s true.
forsyth is the one to bring up bad news politically, only for alm to reply back that there’s no way rigel could send troops to zofia. mila wouldn’t allow that. but mila can’t do a thing about it, forsyth essentially tells him. mila’s gone. she hasn’t been helping them for a while. forsyth is the one to open alm’s eyes.
alm’s beginning to think for himself and truly evaluate what’s before him. when celica reunites with him on the rooftop, we start to see this shift.
Celica: [...] Alm, I have a request for you. Is there no way war against the Kingdom of Rigel can be avoided?
Alm: That’s impossible. Emperor Rudolf of Rigel has seized the opportunity to attack while Zofia’s still weakened by civil war. He’s already started an invasion. At this rate, the Kingdom of Zofia is going to be destroyed.
Celica: But when it comes down to it, both Rigelians and Zofians are the same, aren’t they? We are all people of Valentia. Even if these divisions of country no longer existed, we should all still be able to live together in happiness.
Alm: That’s no good. You can’t just tell the people of Zofia to go live under the barbarous rule of Rigel. Seeing as how Rigel aided Desaix in ravaging the lands of Zofia, we’ve got no choice but to fight.
celica does something eerily similar to what alm did before: she suggests that war between zofia and rigel can be avoided (albeit for different reasons than alm did). however, when presented with this statement, alm is now the one to shoot it down and stubbornly so. we see alm now taking forsyth’s counter, thinking it through, and accepting it. alm’s previous argument, zofia and rigel cannot go to war because mila wouldn’t let it happen, hinges upon his faith in mila. him no longer believing that peace is possible between the two nations displays then a loss of faith in mila. alm has turned to be a figure who does not blindly devote himself to the gods, shedding some of that initial mindset, and this also puts him one step closer to what gaiden purports to be the ideal person: someone who does not rely too much on deities but instead themself. we must remember that this whole game’s conflict starts with emperor rudolf of rigel’s dissatisfaction with the state of affairs in all of valentia and wishing to reset it entirely, using his son — alm — as the figure that would pave the way.
in order for rudolf’s ambition to be realized, alm had to lose his fath. being less religious, for him, is linked with independence, one of the values that gaiden puts on a pedestal.
but that is not the only large shift in ideology that alm goes through. in the same conversation with celica as was referenced above, the following discussion happens:
Celica: Unless, Alm, now that everyone’s holding you up as a hero, you want to become the king of the country as well?
Alm: What! That’s mean, Celica. I don’t have those kinds of ambitions. I just want to protect the people of Zofia, that’s all. Besides, it seems that the royal family of Zofia’s only remaining princess is still alive, so I’m planning to search for her. As soon as I find that princess, I’m returning to the village.
keep in mind that zofia’s sole remaining princess being alive is nothing more than a rumor at this point as far as alm is concerned. but he is quick to believe it. in all honestly, alm is quick to believe just about anything in gaiden, which is another point to his naivete.
regardless, his desire to find her to restore her to the throne highlights this mindset that he believes certain people are born to rule. he goes along with the class system, likely something zofia perpetuates, while rigel is more likely to reward people based on merit since that empire values strength so much. alm believes there are bad rulers, but he nonetheless thinks a princess he knows nothing about and doesn’t even know if she’s alive deserves to be on the throne more than any of the people who are working actively towards zofia’s liberation.
however, by the end of the game, alm becomes the holy king (or, rather, as sov puts it, the saint king) of valentia. he, who was raised as a commoner, takes on this role. he may have the blood of an emperor, but he was not raised to fulfill the throne. he takes to it though, believing it to be his responsibility instead of giving sole control to celica which would’ve aligned perfectly well with his plan from before: to find the lost princess of zofia and then return home.
he learns returning home is not his end goal anymore, and when i take sov’s writing into account ( his a-rank support with faye to be specific when he answers why he can’t return faye’s feelings or why his dream is not to return home to ram ) for once, this is something he decides even before he finds out his true bloodline. he makes this decision without the basis that it’s his birthright to rule over rigel, but because of a difference in ideology. he no longer believes that he should have no hand in the matters of state with valentia and that he should just hand it off to a royal that he may hope will be benevolent.
in doing this, he is also proving he is not falling to the same fate of all the zofians who relied on others, namely mila, to give them prosperity. he’s decided he shall do it with his own hands, and he will do it the whole way.

Hey remember when I said I’d do a lyric analysis of northern downpour, and then didn’t do that for like 6 months? yeah here we go:
the opening line of Northern Downpour: “if all our life is but dream” really sets the tone for the song, its half quoting a children’s song; establishing the almost nursery rhyme aesthetic the has going on for large parts. The changes Ryan makes to the line also reveal important thematic elements in the song--“life is but a dream” is changed from a definitive and general statement; its no longer commenting about general reality but rather questioning all his established feelings about their relationship. He is turning to the other person and saying “is any of this real? is this all a fantasy ive built up in my head?” it feels almost as if he is Begging them to contradict him, to tell him what they have is good and Real and not just “broken glass”, that for a second looked like “diamonds”, and although theres a desperate uncertainty to how hes wording these thoughts “/if/ all our life is but a dream” “/do appear/ to be, just like broken glass /to me/“ you get a sense its less that he’s unsure and more that he has this realization and he is /Praying/ he is wrong.
The second verse seems to be the other person’s reply, but instead of addressing his thoughts and questions they turns to what seem like general criticisms of him “i cant believe that genius only comes across in storms of fable foreign tongues”, this line seems to be a dig at how he expresses himself: unorganized, wild, and hard to understand, while they insist thats this cant be the only way, they offer him this rather than, as noted before, addressing his fear that they’re relationship is nothing more than a fantasy or a dream.
The chorus seems to shift away slightly from the conversation the first to verses are detailing, the tone also switches back to the nursery rhyme that was present in the first line of the song. It’s directed to a personified version of the moon, a common theme in english nursery rhymes, it’s also reminiscent of ‘rain, rain go away’ although reversed in meaning. Overall the line is almost a prayer, begging the moon to say in the in the hope that that would freeze this moment forever, this hope adds a sense of anxiety to the whole song as if whatever happiness is held in this moment is fragile and will inevitably end with the day break. Using a child like tone gives the line an innocent edge, innocent as in ignorant rather, he’s asking for an impossible thing, wording it like a nursery rhyme or children’s song acknowledges this, asking for this night/this moment/ maybe even this entire relationship to last is as fruitless as child singing to that rain in the hope that it will bring fair weather
“Sugarcane in the easy morning/weathervanes my one and lonely”; speaks of Contrast; the first line feels to me to be about happiness and contentment: sugarcane is sweet and wonderful but also simple and natural, he also used the word ‘easy’ which i think compounds that, its a situation that is happy and beautiful but also effortless then you add the setting of the morning time which brings with it a sense of domesticality, and so the line paints a picture of a relationship or situation that is blissful and warm but natural and content also(much like a home)This is immediately contrasted with the next line; ‘weathervanes my one and lonely’ : weathervanes are an image that instantly conjure(for me anyway) ideas of isolation, they are distant from everything, they’re an object you own but have no physical contact with, this is then emphasized by the weathervane being described as lonely, Ryan, by using a possessive phrase aligns himself with the weathervane, creating the suggestion they are the same(he is also isolated and alone). Further more the choice of a weathervane suggests location as well, theyre an object rarely if ever found in the city, an object that is completely connected to farm life, as this is a song written by someone who lives in a city but travels long, long distances through the country seeing things like weathervanes would be a visual reminder that he’s a far from home as it well as being an object that is ‘lonely’ in its own right, bringing us back to the ‘one and lonely’ part, they’re joined together by their equal loneliness.
we shift back to the conversation here with a description of the of the other person talking: “through playful lips made of yarn”, Ryan has been using body imagery through out the song, and theres often been a subtle personification of the body parts, which is very true in this case. Instead of the speaker being simply described as talking the words move through their ‘playful lips’, which gives the words an edge of agency in their own right. But in this case he hasn’t just personified the lips, he’s also given them a sense of the artificial, by describing them as being made of ‘yarn’, not only is it a artificial material, it also has a strikingly different texture to lips(the line wouldnt have the same effect had he used plastic instead) the description gains a very haptic feel to it, but also alien and strange, potentially indicating his feelings towards the other person at this point.
The emotion of the verse starts shifts back to the more distraught feeling at the start of the song, the “Capricorn” is described as “fragile” and the words the came from the “playful lips” now “unravel”. As if the as the conversation progresses the other person gets more and more upset, and their speech more jumbled.
There isn’t a clear indication who or what ‘that fragile capricorn’ is, the natural inclination is that it’s the other person(presumably they are a capricorn) but its place in the verse seems to suggest otherwise— it seem to be the cause for the mood change, “/That/ fragile Capricorn /unraveled/ words like moths upon old scarves”, like it is the cause for the unraveling, I want to argue that its an outside force or situation, potentially the conversation they are currently having; tentative and hanging over their heads.
this is immediately followed by, what ryan described as the central line of p.o.: “I know the world’s a broken bone but melt your headaches call it home”, in the context of this song potentially being about a troubled relationship it could be taken to be about that specifically, a plea either to the other person or himself to keep working on the problems in their relationship, but I think its almost meant to be taken in general sense,(potentially as well) its not enough to just acknowledge the ways in which your life, or the wide world is hard and harmful and then to wallow it that pain, rather you have to then be proactive in that situation and Make It Better(which is a bit of a theme in jon’s solo music but i Digress).
the song then moves back into a repetition of the ‘sugarcane’ line, eventually interlaced with ‘hey moon’, finally the song ends on two new lines: “You are at the top of my lungs/Drawn to the ones who never yawn” and return to the body imagery that has ran through the song, “you are at the top of my lungs” has implication of someone ‘taking your breathe away’(tho its infinitely better worded that i actually feel guilty describing it as such but i dont know how else to put it). yawning is a sign of tiredness or boredom so the opposite of that invokes connotations of focus or intensity, tho i got to say im unclear as to whether that line refers to Him being “drawn to the ones who never yawn” or the other person, I default on it being the other person because of the wording but it makes more sense to me if it refers to ryan idk
basically northern downpour is a song that sits tentatively strung between the knowledge that maybe this relationship isnt the healthiest and being So in love with the other person that you almost dont care but mainly desperately want to be proved wrong, desperately begging the moon to stay in the sky so this Good moment doesnt end and you wont have to face reality by the harsh light of day
Some Notes
•this might be a a bit of a hot take idk it isnt really what i thought about the song until i thought intensly about each line for hours but once i landed on it the more i became convinced that was what the song was talking about, its still just my interpretation tho, how ever you interpretated it is just as valid u know, and if you wanna send me your thoughts about northern downpour(or any song off pretty odd lmao) please feel free! i obviously have Thoughts lmaoo
•kinda wanna write an entire piece about how northern downpour, dangrous blues and lie to the truth are basically a trilogy, kinda wanna cry
•i had to physically stop myself from writing an entire paragraph about how ‘i know the worlds a broken bone but melt your headaches call it home’ is a progression from the central ideas of fever and im real emotional about it but i managed to control myself cos it didnt really fit

The Timeline Challenge Rules
The Timeline Challenge
This is inspired by the Decades Challenge – I thought I’d take it further. Until/unless told otherwise, stick to these rules:
-Simple neutral-coloured clothing
-No technology
-Off the grid
-Outside toilet
-No paint, wallpaper or flooring
-Eldest son will be heir
-Children must choose mate of opposite sex within own ethnicity
-Raise a fairly large family
-No jobs, only make money from woodworking and gardening
-The settlement can never expand out of Newcrest – Newcrest is your world.
Generation 1 – The Early Celts
500 BC-319 BC
Your people have arrived in Newcrest from central Europe. You live in small farming villages. You fight against any locals you have found, and against other Celtic tribes. Here are the rules for this generation:
-Create a tribe made up of a few families and move them into small homes, and choose one to be your main family. Your main family will start out as just a couple, and your main sim is the father of this family.
-Add one park with a swimming pool – this is where your sims will bathe. The park will act as the common land for your tribe.
-No positive relationships with outsiders – you can only trust your tribe
-Once the children from the other families are young adults, marry them off to other members of the tribe. The eldest son always inherits everything from the parents. You can now start to expand your Celtic village into more of Newcrest. Congratulations – you now have a settlement.
  Generation 2 – The Mid-Celtic Era
319 BC-138 BC
You are one of the first people who can truly say you are from Newcrest. You are very happy with your tribe, and feel that you are one big happy family. The rules are the same as the last generation. You married within your tribe and you will raise a family in your tribe. This is your home.
Generation 3 – The Late Celts
138 BC-43 AD
Your people have been in Newcrest for a while and everything is thriving. You felt that your tribe was well-defended against outsiders – until the invasion came. Rules:
-When the heir becomes a teenager, introduce a new group of families – these are Romans.
-Slowly start to move your Celtic families away as more Romans come. Eventually, everyone will have moved away.
-As a young adult, have your heir elope with a Roman girl. The next youngest will inherit his parents’ wealth and will move away with them. The heir will not remain in contact with his Celtic family.
Generation 4 – The Early Romans
43 AD-179
Your people fail to see the positives of what these new people have brought. You run away with the daughter of one of the Roman families, and live in their town. You start to dress more sophisticated and raise a healthier family. You miss your tribe, but you rarely look back because you believe that this is a better way of life. In this generation, you may have one building with baths in it where your sims can go to wash themselves.
Until told otherwise:
-Walls and floors may be tiled
-Sims may now work in the following fields: Business, Criminal, Culinary, Doctor (GTW), Musician, Military (SV), Painter and Politician (CL)
-You may have more public buildings
-Clothes may have some other colours
Generation 5 – The Mid-Roman Era
179-314
You were raised as a rich Roman and you are very happy with your life. You are free to pursue knowledge to your heart’s content and you feel that your life is the height of sophistication. You will marry a beautiful Roman girl and live life with no regrets.
Generation 6 – The Late Roman Era
314-450
You were raised by proud Roman parents, but there is trouble in your little world. There’s trouble with money, and your people are needed in your homeland. When your eldest son is a teenager, people start to withdraw from Newcrest. When he’s a young adult, you take what’s left of your family and leave as well. For each area, one man is left in charge. For your local area, that’s your son and you’re proud of him but the time has come for you to leave.
Generation 7 – The Early Anglo-Saxons
450-563
As a young adult, you were left behind in the country you call home with very few others. Rough and uncouth foreigners start to invade and you quickly lose control. Eventually, you resign yourself to your fate and marry one of the Saxon girls. Everything you know is in tatters. You take a while but eventually realise this isn’t so bad. However, there are things that you miss:
-No more baths, the park is back
-No more jobs
-No more public buildings
-No fine clothes
Generation 8 – The Mid-Saxon era
563-679
You were raised in Newcrest by your mother’s ways and you’re happy with things like that. Your people have split the land into kingdoms and although there is some feuding, you are content. You live in small farming villages again, and you are very happy with your life. You marry one of the local girls and raise a family together.
  Generation 9 – The Late Anglo-Saxons
679-793
Your people have made the country the way you believe it should be, and things seem just right. However, when your eldest son is in his teens, warlike people start to invade. They are Vikings. You are forced to retreat to one small Saxon village, and some even leave. Your people are scattered. Living in the village that you managed to keep, you try to preserve the old ways.
Generation 10 – The Early Vikings
793-886
You were happy as a child, but these newcomers don’t seem to bad, so different. In fact, you end up falling in love with one. You move to the Viking part of town with your beloved new wife, and start to raise a family.
Generation 11 – The Late Vikings
886-1066
You consider yourself to be a true Viking, despite the fact that your mother married one of the locals. You grew up with their ways, and you are happy. However, when your leader dies, there is a battle for who shall reign next. One of your people, one of the old Saxon people who claims to be the rightful ruler or a new group of invaders led by a man named Guillaume who seem talented in battle despite that being your people’s craft…
Generation 12 – The Early Normans
1066-1154
You decide that resistance is futile. Your Viking ruler has been killed, and although many of your people have moved away, you think these ‘Normans’ seem to have a lot to offer the country so you stay. Despite her people’s protests, one of them falls in love with you and you marry her. Slowly, her people start to accept you and as long as you stick to their ways, everything seems to be fine. More elaborate stone buildings are under construction, and things seem good. The wealthy now have access to brighter clothing, and the following careers are now open again.
