How do you pick colors for the gore rendering? I'm mesmerized withe the vibrant yet mildly sickly tone of colors you use, that along with the paint marker way of shading is amazing, I love it

thanks!! admittedly I've been meaning to do more studies and such bc I'm missing out on a lot of things imo but here's my lazy guy method where I put varying reds down regardless of lighting....

i generally go between dark reds and lighter pinks/oranges, and then have some "blue(grey or just Less Red Reds" and green/yellow. green and red are just fun to work with so I think a lot of my drawings have that. Pinks and greys can be fun too so I'm trying to do more w those..... bleh. I'm very much not an expert at drawing or anatomy so. You know how it is. in the speedpaint there is a secret, regular, un-possessed sphinx Stanford, however he looked too derp to give him a real top spot in this post. He’s been shackled down here for being too silly XP

I did try to make him less cross-eyed but no dice. I’m considering getting a shaker charm created of him, where the only part that shakes is his pupils….. googly-eyed sphinx ford….. but no…… it’s too silly to bear witness to in the third dimension… he remains contained, for now !

Hi hello I would put the art in the visible part of the post but one of my friends on here is fairly new to Warframe and, since the drawing + the giant loredump I have for it contains spoilers for parts of wf's main story questline between and including The Duviri Paradox and The Hex, I have decided to put it under a cut so I don't spoil them.

Drew this yesterday to celebrate the obtainment of a new drawing tablet, and then forgot to post it LMAO- also don't mind the slight crunchiness of the bg this is what having to resort to clipping out bits of pics from the Warframe wiki does (how is there no basic void energy texture image anywhere????)

Anyways, lore: this is Alderamin (Alder), my Drifter who, after moving into the Backroom and having his partner Flare move in, got jabbed by an Epic Prank™️left in a box by the dripped out old man himself: Albrecht Entrati. (he put the loading device in a box knowing full well that one day Alder would decide to get all organise-y and end up pricking himself on it because nobody expects random needle things to be in otherwise normal boxes)

He thinks nothing of it bc y'know. Tenno are kind of well known for being seemingly immune to the infestation. but then he develops a weird metallic rash and flulike symptoms, and veeery slowly his left arm (where he got jabbed) begins to morph into metal, leading to the "oh shit I'm becoming a protoframe" realisation :D

Now. could this happen in canon? lmao probably not, but do I care? absolutely not! the dex operator set shouldn't have been so protoframe-y if they didn't want this to happen /lh

Also here's some virus progression for those of you who, like me, are way too invested in how the infestation (especially regarding the protoframe strain) progresses: general progression is similar to the regular protoframe strain, but (using the fact that only the original 6 members of The Hex mention their changes being painful/generally horrific experiences, at least from what I remember) progresses with far less pain and suffering than earlier strains, partially due to the transformation being slower than usual for a long period of time, until the individual's head is the only piece of the person left. Once it's just the head, progression becomes far more rapid and takes roughly a week to complete. This part is, unsurprisingly, quite a bit more painful.

every time i hear anything art-related on tiktok, i immediately get really like... upset? annoyed? idk. unpleasant feeling because it's literally always "we're making fun of this child/beginner for their anatomy or how they color" or whatever else or pretending that an artists deserve to be treated like a piece of corporate media.

i know tiktok is literally the devil and hell incarnate, but i don't think any artist deserves to be targets of mass harassment especially not people who are just starting out (and even more especially not children).

if tiktok was a thing when i was younger and i was posting my art on there, i would never fucking draw ever again. my art career would've ended after a few months of drawing "seriously," and i really do mean it lol. call me sensitive or whatever, but a 13-15 year old does not need to hear whatever criticism you think they need to hear i promise.

whenever i see people make art of poc and it Does have the correct lighter palm color, it still doesn't look right and i think it's because people always draw a hard line of separation between the main skin tone and the hand one. like it needs to be very evenly blended or else it just kind of looks like kind of uncanny valley

a bad drawing but it illustrated my point. no human has sharp color lines on their body. even moles or birthmarks would be depicted kind of fuzzy so skin tones should be treated the same

there's an inherently fun thing about old digital art that didn't need to follow certain "rules" and it still was bottomline good. airbrush, shading with the same color but darker, mixing in real images and textures, using shit small canvases, etc.

people had fun fooling around with their wacom bamboos and their cracked photoshop cs3s, and somehow we let mr. shit who called art made by 12-year-olds on deviantart cringe change our perception of that.

It really depends on ur style and what brushes you like best!!

like my avatar stuff is super straightforward, only a soft brush. One passover for shadows and another for light, like I did here w loak!

but usually for blending I hatch/cross-hatch!! i tend to work really zoomed out so to me and the naked eye, things seem very smoothly blended, just with some texture! I use hard pencil-like brushes mostly even when I blend and paint

even for this practice w Neteyam, my blending is also v rough and lets not-let's not get into how I painted those abs, THAT is drool

and there is definitely a blending tool for all digital art applications!! I do not know anything of it, as my style is rough and blending things out usually makes things look 'too smooth'.

I say all this to say ur work probably does not look like drool!! just zoom out and find brushes you like! you can always default to a soft brush and add texture on top with a layer effect too

I should probably stop doing all of my colors and shading on one layer. It's so messy all the time. But I also hate sifting through a whole mountain of layers. the last time I did use layers ended up with me using 56 layers, granted it was super clean and shit, but it was a nightmare to navigate. How tf do y'all artists do this??? wHAT ARE YOUR SECRETS-
