Which riordanverse-greek god I’d assign the norse kiddies:

Whoever the goddess of balance is to Samirah

Demeter!Magnus (I know he’s Apollo by default but no, thank you)

I’m afraid I’m awful with norse mythology and the fours gods I remember are much more imprinted in my mind as the marvel version than the original myths (or riordanverse editions anyway)

Annabeth would be Odin’s child, I think. I feel she’d sit you down with powerpoint presentations

Loki!Nico would be interesting although not truly accurate

TJ’s dad should be Thalia’s, she’d also react if anyone says “I challenge you”, also Clarisse’s

Frey!Will

Drew and Silena could be Freya’s daughters

Frigg!Jason is that how she’s called?

B-TV Rec List For Winners

Everyone always talks about how they love certain B-movies. Y’know, the campier the better. The equation usually goes like this: cheese factor + camp - A-list actors + surprisingly good premise/writing = a Cult Classic.

That’s all well and good, but I’d like to take a moment to shower praise upon B-TV—any and all of those television shows that were cancelled after 1 or 2 seasons, had cheesy effects, wasn’t very popular, had a weirdly eclectic but cohesive cast—you name it!

So here it is, my post to commemorate my top 5 favorite B-TV shows (in no particular order):

Todd & The Book of Pure Evil (2010), Rated TV-MA

This Canadian show only had 2 rocking seasons before it was axed. It follows the hilarious life of stoner/metalhead Todd & his one-armed best friend Curtis as they find and lose the powerful Book of Pure Evil. Go watch them battle high school hijinks, Evil, and Atticus, their sweater-vest-wearing & Satanic-cult-leading guidance counselor.

Wonderfalls (2004), Rated TV-PG

This 1 season wonder—see what I did there?—follows twentysomething cynic Jaye as she navigates life after college. Stuck in a rut & working at a Niagra Falls souvenir shop, Wonderfalls, she’s trying to figure out what she wants from her life—until one day, the anthropomorphic figurines in the shop start talking to her & giving her spookily accurate advice. Is she going crazy or is everybody else? Go fucking find out, I dare you.

Pushing Daisies (2007), Rated TV-PG

And speaking of the lovely Lee Pace, let’s jump from Canadian TV to a few US shows, namely Pushing Daisies. This show lasted for only 2 seasons. BUT EACH WAS FLAWLESS. The color, the dialogue, the cast, the narrator, the premise—literally everything about this show was *MWAH* brilliant. I mean, who wouldn’t want to watch a show about a pie maker who could touch dead people and bring them back to life? Warning: this show is filled with whimsy.

Veronica Mars (2004), Rated TV-14

Do I even need to say anything? Kristen Bell. Snarky and savvy daughter of a disgraced ex-sheriff turned PI. Side of the tracks element. Coastal beachy setting. Perfect writing. Not-so-perfect overall plot arcs. Only three seasons—but we’re getting more so who’s counting? (S/O to my boy Hulu) Honestly, now I just have the theme song stuck in my head, so I’ll exit “gracefully” with that: 🎶 A long time ago, we used to be friends, but I haven’t thought of you lately at all... 🎶

Farscape (1999), Rated TV-14

This space opera tops out this list at a whopping 4 seasons before it was cancelled. Do you like aliens? Space? Adventures? How about space alien adventures? Well then, strap in because Farscape is the show for you. Follow John Crichton, astronaut from Earth, as he’s hurled into a different part of the universe during one of his test flights. If you’re into any other show that has lasers, an intergalactic struggle, and a sort-of competent human along for the ride, then this show is worth a watch.

The Almighty Johnsons (2011), Rated Who Tf Knows, It’s From NZ

With fuck-all in terms of special effects, be prepared to be blown away by one of the best reimaginings of Norse mythology...from a bunch of Kiwis. I know, I know, weird mix right? NO. It’s the best mix—the mix I never knew I wanted. It lasted for 3 seasons, and each episode is pretty fucking great. The Johnsons, a normal enough family, actually have a pretty interesting secret (hint: they reincarnate as Norse gods)—the secret, mind you, is learned by Axl on his birthday. Godly shenanigans ensue. It’s mythology that’s 95% driven by plot and character development, rather than CGI or effects—and it fucking works. Go give it a shot.

Hi! Is there anywhere we can watch the panels at magic con or whatever it's called lol. I recently bought trumbo on DVD and can't wait to watch it just to see deans gorgeous face. Re watching all the hobbit movies just because. Dean is my favorite actor,wish I could watch almighty johnsons or his other movies. Is he filming for the next series of Westside or I forget the title. Sorry for rambling. Happy Tuesday!

Hello! Tbh i’m not entirely sure! Sadly i was not one of the lucky souls to attend so Youtube is my ‘go to’ for a lot of those events, however i do know some of the Cons dont permit cameras being used during the panels (not that it stops the fans). Others i’ve got full copies off of there. Your best bet would be to have a search around there, although as it only just finished a week or so ago it may take some time for videos to be released, but there are plenty of photos!!

Dean was fantastic in Trumbo, and a lot of the reviews that came out singled out his performance as being brilliant. In a cast of such well known actors i was literally rolling around like a lunatic with every comment i read, because it means potentially great things for him! And apparently there was a very well known director who was so impressed with his performance he’s determined to get him in one of his movies. No idea who it was though 😳

Westside season 3 is scheduled to air sometime this year, so i’m very excited for that! I’ve put a bunch (seriously there’s a tonne) of stills from season 2 on my tumblr for your viewing pleasure. There’s also stills from Hillary that he did (that was brilliantly done as well.) almighty johnsons has been out for a while and i believe you can find the episodes online now, which i’d definitely recommend watching them or even forking out for the dvds because it was so well done. I was devastated when they cancelled it 😭

Another project to look out for is The Wanted. Its an australian show, and Deano was involved in the second season (i was an extra in it as well 😝) so that should be out sometime this year. And if you havent seen it, try get young hercules. I know a lot of people bag it, but despite the utter cheesiness i actually really enjoyed it! And a young Deano? *mops up a bit of drool* yum!!
