uh about the storyline, i had to try hard to not be lured into yet another game lmao (eyeing L&N akshdhd), so i haven’t actually played the game personally after CBT LOL nor do i keep up with its contents that much, so my knowledge regarding the story and the characters isn’t deep and is limited haha. also, since the premise begins in the AU world + with some other factors, i kinda lost my interest to even begin with LOL.

the game’s setting is the AU world ahah, and it also has personal routes. it has battle systems for leveling up your profile / raising cards. i heard it can be pretty grindy, but since i haven’t continued playing it, i can’t comment on that :>

Over all, from what I’ve seen, the story is pretty good, has the intrigue elements for sure. Also plus point, in every AU/ arch you get a common part and then you can choose your love interest to progress for the rest of the story. what it does here is that unlike Lovepro/MLQC + Light and Night main story, where the story itself is very character-driven, you need to shut your brain and consider the MC that specific love interest’s heroine for the allocated segment- or else given the extreme lengths she goes for them/ the said borderline intimacy certainly don’t cut for “just friends” tag LOL. So, if you’re someone who self-inserts (consciously or not) and perhaps is a little uncomfortable with that kind of storytelling, For All Time/ Lovebrush Chronicles is certainly one you can give a try.

For me personally, the writing pattern didn’t seem like my cup of tea + I prefer the storytelling pattern of Lovepro and L&N (singular main story + parallel dates) haha. But hey, we all have different tastes, so be sure to give it a chance if you’re interested. Who knows, you could end up with completely different viewpoints than me! (⁠*⁠´⁠∀⁠｀⁠*⁠)

So like, I don't know what it is about most modern Otome games that seem to think their general audience would prefer other elements in the stories that aren't... Romance? The general definition of an "Otome Game" is a story-driven game where the overall goal is to romance characters and enjoy their routes, right? And I get that not everything can be sunshine and rainbows, I'm not expecting that- but is it really too much to ask for a love that's genuine, sweet and fulfilling? Maybe I'm just becoming an old lady, but I really don't get why most Otome's I've played end up with me going, "okay so when does the kissing and romance start-"

Games like Hakuoki, Ozmafia and My Vow to My Liege are great examples of games that focus too much on everything but the romance in most routes. (Now I'm not saying all routes do this in these games but it is most of em) Good examples of Otome games that are able to balance romance with other elements to craft an interesting narrative are games like the Amnesia Series, Code Realize and Lover Pretend (at least, in my humble opinion). Now, onto my rant about William's route in Ikemen Villains! 😍🎉

Don't get me wrong, I really do like William's character a lot; his design and personality intrigue me. My issue with his route is his and MC's developing relationship? By the end of things, it really seems as though MC's "love" for Will is more like blind devotion to an idol as opposed to a smitten lover to another smitten lover. And Will's love for MC is also twisted to the point where I wouldn't even consider it love, as he seems to be more interested in her demise than anything else. Now, this is just my view on things, I could be completely wrong, but that was my takeaway. And I get it, the name of the game is Ikemen Villains of course the love/romance in the game won't be "normal", I understand that... But it doesn't stop me from being disappointed 😭 I feel like a villain experiencing sweet and pure love would've been more drawing and thrilling, but maybe that's just me, maybe- (the girlies that are into dark romance are hoopin and hollerin rn LMAO)

I've only gotten through Will's route, so maybe my opinion will change with other routes? I will say, I go to about chapter 17 with Liam's and there wasn't really any romance I could see/feel, which is why I kinda view him as more of a little brother than a lover. I couldn't even get into Harrison's route because he rubbed me the wrong way initially. Like, I'm not asking for the ML's in these games to be head over heels in love with MC from the get-go (slow burns are peak), but is it too much to ask for them to at least be AMICABLE with me? 😭 Like why is bro already praying on my downfall, what did I even do- I'm sorry, Harrison fans, but I couldn't do it. I actually really liked him in Will's route, but in his own? I couldn't do it- Maybe he gets better..? Idk. finally finished the profile for the danseiroido!! this took way too long just because drawing anime headshot is my biggest nightmare... and then ended up not even looking That anime LOL... i've already had a few comics up in the tag (search em to read!) but. a brief intro is that i basically just made them idols (somewhat) and threw them in the same boygroup to write sitcom/4-koma slice of life random jokes, as i always do! they also share the same universe with my entire vocaloid neighborhood setup (but this will - might - be for another day)

I really like all 3 boys, but I'm leaning Zayne bc he's just so husband coded. He's the only one I could see a long-term relationship w. I honestly dk what will happen next. Can't explain the happy-giddiness I felt when I downloaded some admittedly poorly done otome games on my phone in like 2013 and realizing they're intended for girls like me instead of boys for once. Recently with the release of a big game like Love and Deepspace for instance I've noticed a demand to make it have a Male Main character for example because guys wanted to play too and it kinda iffed me personally because women/girls/fem identifying people are the target audience for Otome games, it legit means Maiden Game. I don't know specific identifiers for them since I don't play them, I do know BL games exist, they're out there, and I see no reason for them to breach the otome genre. I mean, I've never personally felt entitled to be included in a genre of content not intended for me at all even if what it presented appealed to me, like i may see some character and think "Wow he is hot" and then find out he's from a BL game, my first thought wouldn't be "Yo can you make a female main character, even though you honestly dont have to because you are a game/category intended for MLM and not Het or Bi women/fems? Thanks, i will wait on that". It's probably nonsense or me being young and immature but I feel irritated at the suggestion of sharing a space that was super unavailable to me when I was a kid and even now with men or male identifying people when so much of content has and does aim at them, but nooo the girlie little romance games have to suddenly accommodate men too because they feel entitled to it. Why can't something just be for girls? I don't get it. I feel like men get to be willy nilly in their spaces and games not forced to accommodate nearly as often as anything meant for girls, whenever something is intended for a female audience, it doesn't get to just be for a female audience, that really annoys me. I keep seeing "But obey me" as an argument for inclusivity bur frankly as an user on TT put it, having such options is a privilege, not a must. Otome games don't have to present themselves to everyone unless they choose to give players the privilege of it, because they've had an intended audience from the start who consume it frequently. That and Obey me isn't an otome game in mine and others opinions, it's more akin to Twisted wonderland, a rhythm game of sorts, especially nightbringer. Yeah, rant over, I just needed to speak into the void. May be controversial, but I genuinely don't hate anyone, I just feel irked at the expectation that me and others have to always make room for more because we aren't enough of a player base somehow. I've seen guys on tik tok say stuff like "Can't men just be attracted to men?" I understand you can't help who you're attracted to, I'm Bi personally, but just because you're attracted to some character doesn't mean an entire standalone genre has to change because you demand it imo, I don't get the sense of entitlement that comes with making that demand, and saying stuff like "Male MC?/No male mc?:(/ why isn't there a male mc?" is pretty mind boggling like do you know which genre this is rn pook. I agree with you. Here are things to consider:

The adult industry(pornography(hentai, games, etc.) is mostly male dominated. There’s a 2% chance that anything even remotely explicit will pertain to the female audience. Go check yourself. Visit your favorite site to watch adult content and you’ll only ever find things for males. Femboys for males, Lesbians for males, despite being lesbians, men fetishize them. Also, thus, there’s more gay porn for men than there is straight porn for women. It’s rare you’ll ever find porn female-centered.

Hentai games like What in “hell” is bad? always include male players. If it’s explicit, expect it to be for males, because apparently “more men watch porn”.

Hentai games, which are usually for males and are as proven many times, never include female players. You’re always playing this man who may or may not be an average joe, have a beer belly, may have dark skin or a blank face, or even a normal creep. Despite this, he manages to snag his harem of women by doing minimal tasks. Like… Umm… Hello? That’s not how women actually are- I would know as I am one myself and so are you.

So why are female-oriented games inclusive but male-oriented games aren’t?: There’s no explanation for that. Apparently making something for half the population, women, is seen as so inclusive that men can also be included. That’s not true, nor should it be. That’s basically a way of looking over women and catering to gay men. I find it odd how there’s more inclusion for gay men than women. Like, there’s definitely more women on this earth. That being said, that doesn’t help women at all. Like, if you cared so much about making things female-orientated, there shouldn’t be a male option to choose between. I don’t understand why prettybusy decided that to be best especially when their games “are for women”. Like, not really.

Making the MC neutral doesn’t contribute anything to female players, because if it actually were an otome game, and, as prettybusy said something along the lines of “We make MC’s face blank so others can relate more”, then making the MC female would definitely do the trick. If they clearly wanted female players to “relate to the MC”, then being genderless is not apart of that.

Other issues include:

The point of otome games are to raise and boost women’s confidence and self-worth. And creating an explicit otome games creates a bigger message: “A game for women that they can safely, unforgivably indulge in their desires and fantasies without being silenced”. This problem is still at large. Looking at pornography, women don’t receive foreplay, reassurance, or even viewed as humans sometimes. “Big butt latina”, “Petite asian chick”, “Hot ebony does […]”, “Sexy MILF”, “Curvy white chick”, “BBW does […]”… There’s a problem with all of these. They all either are (racist) stereotypes or unrealistic expectations.

“Petite asian”, “Big butt Latina” are either unrealistic or contributes to a beauty standard placed on women. Yes, it’s true many Asian women tend to be short and petite, but constantly putting labels like “petite” on them makes other women in comparison, usually blacks, appear more “masculine” or “unattractive”. “Big butt latinas” is a VERY high expectation of latin women. This doesn’t care about the well-being of the woman, but rather that assets she may or may not have. Women are more than butts.

Ebonies and BBWs: Ebonies isn’t a name I, as a black woman, would be comfortable of being called. The word ebony means black, which is a pretty stupid label to put on black women. Not all black women are dark-skinned and some aren’t even near the complexion of black. Secondly, saying Ebony meaning “black” emphasizes the skin tone of the individual. That’s fetishizing. Black women aren’t ebonies, they’re black women. People don’t call whites or Asians “ivory”, just mostly pale or fair. BBWs are beautiful, but mostly in porn they’re fetishized. Many people often associated BBWs as “curvy” or “voluptuous”. Not to say they aren’t, but that label doesn’t fit them since being “curvy” is defined as having either an hourglass figure, sometimes pear. Which means, that “curvy” women waists are supposedly small. Let’s just stick with what plus-size women since curvy only ever fetishizes them more.

MILFs: We all know the “step-son” in the porn isn’t a step-son. He’s just an actor in porn that he wants to live out his “taboo” fantasies. This is fairly the worst in my opinion. This is the most unrealistic, but not the worst one of expectations from women since, not every woman you see will be your step-mother-

In conclusion: Women don’t have much for them and are often shamed for their desires or fetishized. Female-oriented games should be for females.

Lullaby of Demonia got me fucked up!! There's so much I love about this game, but there's also a few things I hate (especially when it comes to some of the writting). Rn my beef is mainly with my bank account for not having enough money to buy rubies. I want to be Ifrits date to the royal ball (I'm still on season 1) but 1, I have no rubies and 2, Idk if Malthus or Alastor are also going to try and ask the same question!! Aaahhhhh I'm so so so invested in this story. I just wish more Otome games were set up like The Arcana with character and story menues and BEING ABLE TO CHANGE MY PRONOUNS!!! That game will always be S+ tier to me. I love Demonia so much, but I'm so frustrated!! Lemme kiss the demon boys!!!

OK TOUCHSTARVED DEMO REVIEW!! I JUST FOUND OUT THIS EXISTED YESTERDAY AND STARTED PLAYING

So I was scrolling through tiktok and got THE video of the trailer, immediately started playing which is surprising from me because I normally only procrastinate for everything, even for things I like. But yesterday was a good day it seems.

I started the game and after the short intro selected "the unnamed" backstory I think it's called?? I don't really remember but it was the one where you ran away from your cult village or whatever. For two reasons.

A. I didn't want to have exclusively witty one liners as my dialogue. (The criminal backstory)

B. I'm already playing the arcana (the mage backstory)

Of course I'll play the demo with each one of them later but rn I'm doing various play throughs with variations of what I feel like my own choices would be.

Now for how I like it overall, IT'S SO GOOOOODD!!! I loved everyone just from the trailer alone, everyone except vere, I just really hate his archetype. Let's say me and red haired otome guys have a long time beef, ancestral beef if you will (I'm looking at you castiel...). I just don't like the playboy who is also really mean for no reason and only flirts by making a fool out of you. Anyways, enough about someone I don't really like.

First KURAS, he's soooo my type 🤭 long hair, dark skin, calm and collected! Soo cute, I like his dialogue and interactions in the demo, I haven't unlocked his red option so I feel like he was a little too distant for my liking but I know that'll probably change with the full game (I assume he has one, I mean I got ais' and leander's without even trying).

Now Ais, tbh I tried to stay loyal to kuras but Ais is so hot, cool and kinda flirty... I WAS GIGGLING SO LOUD AND PUNCHING MY PILLOWS, I'm not always for bad boys bc it isn't really done right most of the time (in my opinion) but Ais is really something else.

And lastly Leander, he's hot and sweet, I don't really have much to say about him, I can tell he's the easiest route, at least for me. He's the type of character I can get the good ending of with my eyes closed. I mean we might as well be kissing him by the end of the demo. I still like him tho. I'm just more normal about him than I am about Kuras and Ais. And I can already see him being a fan favorite, so I better like him because all those fanarts are about to infest my feed.

As for mhin and vere. They're not really that interesting to me, I'd say my top would be like this

Art Quality? 9.5/10 soo pretty, the street and city sheets could use a bit more work though. It's kind of underwhelming at the beginning when you see the city and it doesn't really stand out. But maybe it's just me.

Dialogue quality? 9/10 it doesn't feel repetitive, it's immersive and even when there's some corny lines here and there, I'd say it's vere's fault for being a devious bad boy archetype. Because that dialogue is only present with him 🧍‍♀️

And that's it. Even with the wall of text I just wrote I've only played once three routes with the cult(?) Backstory. I will probably write more text walls as I get deeper into the fandom and game.

tbh i agree w your take on yui! ive played like..7 dialova games rn (thanks to your blog btw hehe it motivates me to actually buy the games) and ive grown to love yui. shes the blueprint of kindhearted sweet gentle mcs and her trope can be seen almost anywhere in general otome games n even those isekai/villainess shoujo/josei series. i knw some recent otome games with mcs like her too (liliana in piofiore is an example and i LOVE liliana so much. shes in the same situation as yui but instead of vampires its mafia bosses. 10/10 game)

i understand some ppl hate yuis character bt i also understand to ignore n block out the haters or any negative comments about her. self care 💕 there are many otome games now with mcs that suit their tastes. also like. if yui wasnt how she is, she def would have died in the prologue minutes later. her angelic nature matches so well with all the vampire boys demonic attitudes. theyre demons all of them. literally n figuratively lmao

yui does hv her dumb moments but all tht can barely be seen when she has A Lot of heroic moments thats not just 'badass girl kicks ass'. her kindness and patience and love helps the boys heal and hell it helps yui become a stronger person too.

i love yui as she is. also her japanese voice in the anime is SO beautiful!! wished she was voiced in the game ;w;

If we want to be 100% real, then the boys just cannot be fixed by NOBODY. But when you have a bunch of characters who are all incredibly headstrong, stubborn and need A LOT of convincing to have a different outlook on mind, a character such as Yui who has a broad heart and is willing to give people a second chance and look past their mistakes is kind of necessary imo.

Is Yui too good for them? Most definitely. She deserves better. In fact, NOBODY deserves the treatment which is done to her in HDB and MB. That's just the nature of the game though and it's one of the big factors which made the franchise so popular in the first place. The fans dig that kind of dark atmosphere. It's not like Rejet was trying to hide it either since they have 'SUPER SADISTIC' (DO-S) in bold letters in their branding lol.
