then the nurses catch him doing it and have to YANK him off of you, once again.

she refuses you to the hospital

lets the nurses do their jobs (thank god)

she really wants to be able to help nurse you back to health as well though..

she gives you the next best thing aka massages.

she literally comes in everyday and gives you 3 massages minimum a day

she’ll also sleep in the hospital with you most days.

nothing less than an angel.

for however long you’re in the hospital, he’ll bring you flowers

in there for 3 weeks? new flowers every week.

reads you books every night to help you sleep

keeps you updated with what’s going on with everyone and training to make sure you don’t miss out.

he’ll always make time to come see you though, no matter what!!

he runs STRAIGHT over and makes sure to comfort you.

he’ll stay till dark when you’re asleep and pay the nurses a visit too

he asks them to take extra good care of you.

or at least have SOMEONE come check on you.

hange has seen it all at this rate

but doesn’t seem to heavily affected.

they’ve never really had anyone close to them be extremely injured

they were sooo scared though :(.

it was really sad for everyone to see hange’s energy so low but

they couldn’t help it!!

all they could think about was their poor love in hospital :(.

when they’re around you though, they try to stay positive! and tells you all about their work to keep you both distracted.

I’ve been thinking lately about how much the ‘curse of Ymir’ really does affect the psyche of each of the nine shifters and how it impacts the ending of the story.

Up until the end of Season 3/Chapter 87-88, the reader and the viewer have no idea that the shifters have a limited amount of time to live. They seem to possess this god-like power and they can rejuvenate and survive almost any injury. They seem unstoppable.

This is what motivates Erwin to create a plan to take one of the nine shifter powers with the serum- having another Titan in your arsenal would make a difference in winning the war.

But what the Paradisians don’t know is how holding the power of the Nine just perpetuates a cycle of violence and cruelty. It’s a curse as much as it is a power. No matter how brilliant or grand your scope is for what you can do with this near limitless power, you have to contend with the fact that you will only have thirteen years to do it.

This revelation to me is the what colors the entire last arc of the story leading into and after the time skip.

For Zeke, it amps up the level of desperation he has for accomplishing the euthanization plan- relying on Eren was still a variable that was largely unpredictable, and he trusted him more than he probably would have if he weren’t running out of time.

Going back further in the story, it retroactively explains why Ymir (of the cadet corps) would go back with Reiner and Bertholdt at all- a seemingly nonsensical choice when it seems she has something to live for in her relationship with Krista/Historia. But Ymir knows she has little time left. She has no future. So she chooses to surrender.

For Annie, it shows her desperation to get back to her father, a man who showed her very little affection, and yet if she could just make it back maybe she could live at least a year or two with him and make at least one happy memory with the man who raised her to kill.

Armin, I honestly feel the most for, because what he and everyone else thought of as his salvation, was actually just saddling him with a curse. And heaps of responsibility to try and be grateful for it. He went from a character with a singular and wholesome conviction, to someone wracked with guilt and forced to solve the world’s problems with limited time and resources.

In Reiner’s case, I actually think the fact that he knows he is going to die is the only thing actually keeping him alive in the tail end of the story. He wants so badly to face retribution for his deeds, and he can only find the strength to keep towing the line because he knows his violent demise is guaranteed.

Characters like Pieck and Bertholdt seem to accept their lot in life- but deal with this internally and develop their own sense of morals despite it- albeit in different ways and in Pieck’s case with a shade of pessimism. Falco and Marcel stand out as a characters who see the farce for what it is- but still want to subject themselves to it in order to prevent someone they love from suffering through it in their place.

Eren, though, it’s easy to see how discovering he has already lived more of his life in powerless ignorance than what he has left is what ultimately causes the collapse in his character. Combine that with the way that he sees ‘future memories’ and doesn’t see any future beyond his own, and suddenly you have a naturally impulsive and violent person living in the most fatalistic reality ever. It makes perfect sense that his fall from grace is near immediate and precipitous.

What difference does all that power make if all it means is that you become a tool for destruction with no future? That you will be forced to curse someone else so that this cruel power will continue to exist? That is the true legacy of Ymir and the Eldian Empire- you can have near limitless power, but you will never have true control over your own life.

And it makes for such interesting discussions and questions about power and mortality and agency- and all the seemingly ‘correct’ and ‘incorrect’ ways to respond to their dilemma.

Anyway, it is always ‘thinking about the moral quandary of the titan shifters’ hours around here…

the moment you embrace him you can feel his heavy heart weighing him down. neither of you speak but both of you know you don't have to. he caresses your face gently and kisses you with the firey passion of a thousand burning suns, as if he was saying "i'm so happy to see you again" without speaking a word. it didn't quite feel right to either of you—watching clothes slowly fall to the floor. though, he thought, nothing else felt right either. he just wanted... no, needed you.

he lifts you into his arms and carries you to the bedroom, kissing every inch of your body. this might be the first time you're really able to make love. not secretly, not rushed. two people who love and have loved each other, can finally express it. he holds your upper body forward, pressing your foreheads together as his hips push softly and sensually into yours. the heaviness in his mind and heart dissipated and all he can think about now is how badly he needed this, how he needed you and loved you.

his thrusts are slow, long, and deep. he can't keeps his lips off of yours, making them swell from his affection. the soft sounds of moans and "i love you"s echo in the mostly empty room. after what feels like hours, both of you reach your cathartic climax and fall into each other; just laying there taking deep, unsteady breaths. everything slowly starts to feel right again.

Being insecure in a relationship- Lysander, Castiel, Armin

Hey anon! Wasn’t sure if you meant being insecure with the boys or the boys themselves being insecure so i wrote both!

Being insecure with Lysander

I think Lysander is probably the boyfriend you’d feel the least insecure with, he’s already constantly reassuring you and making it known how much he adores you, and it’s not something he’s doing on purpose either. It just kind of comes natural to him. He’s very much a “I only have eyes for y/n” and he makes that very clear! 

If for whatever reason you are feeling insecure, you never have to be afraid or nervous to tell Lys, he’s a very understanding and empathetic man. It may catch him off guard a bit, because it should be obvious how much he adores you. But he won’t ever be upset with you, and instead may wonder what he did to make you feel that way. He would hate it if he crossed a boundary or maybe neglected you in some way! 

But I guess it also depends on what you were feeling insecure about specifically. Were you jealous of someone? Maybe feeling insecure about yourself? 

If you’re feeling badly about yourself he would immediately stop what he’s doing to cup your face with his hands and look at you with a softness in his eyes, “My dear you never have to feel that way around me, you’re truly perfect the way you are and I love every part of you no matter what.”

If you’re simply feeling jealous or a little insecure in the relationship he thinks it’s a bit cute and will still reassure you, he may think it’s a bit silly but he also understands that human emotions are funny like that. “I only have eyes for you, love. I promise.”

Lysander being insecure

I think Lysander is someone who is for the most part, very sure of themselves. I think it’s a bit difficult to get him feeling really insecure. Jealous, sure. We’ve seen our man get jealous quite quickly throughout the story. But if he was insecure I think it would stem more from him feeling like he isn’t enough for you, or maybe he isn’t satisfying your needs in the relationship. 

He knows moving from the city life to farm life within the span of a few months is quite the change, so sometimes he finds himself wondering if you truly are enjoying life with him on the farm like you say you are. He knows you sometimes miss the city and being close to your friends, and he feels a bit sad that he can’t exactly provide that seeing as you guys are four hours away from it all.

I think he wouldn’t be afraid to bring it up, but more so just afraid of your answer. The last thing he’d want to hear is that you aren’t happy here, and that you may want to leave because of it. “Y/N, are you happy here? Are you happy with me, on the farm, living a quiet village life?” Truly, this man would do anything to keep a smile on your face. God, I love him. 

I think Lysander would respond well to reassurance with words. You sitting him down, looking him in the eyes and confirming you’re happy with him. And then maybe a sweet soft kiss on the lips to let him know you love him.

Being insecure with Castiel

With Castiel there’s definitely more cause to get a little jealous, insecure. He’s got a shit ton of fangirls that are just jumping at the chance to get at him, so it can be a bit overwhelming at times! Now I don’t think Castiel would entertain any of that, he would try to keep it as polite as possible with his fans while also having firm boundaries. So I don’t think it’s the fans who make you insecure. I think it would be a fellow artist. Specifically a female artist.

Castiel can get pretty passionate when it comes to music, and if he collaborates with an artist that he really clicks with he can get really excited and will talk about it quite frequently, because he just wants to tell you everything. But he doesn’t realize it can come off a bit… aggravating to hear him talking so highly of another girl all the time? “She’s awesome and super talented, you gotta meet her sometime. And did you know she- blah blah blah.” And of course in this case it wouldn’t help if she’s like, super fucking pretty??

He really is not doing it in a malicious way, poor guys genuinely just really excited about the new music they’ve got in the works lol. I think when you tell him how you’re feeling at first he’s a bit taken aback, and maybe even a little confused but then you bring up how he’s constantly talking about her and he’s just kinda mentally like “...Ooooh shit.”

His first instinct is to tease you about it but depending on how upset you are he’ll be more mature about it. “I’m sorry baby, I didn’t mean to make you feel insecure. I can see how that might've been upsetting for you. I’m just really excited about what we’ve been working on.” He’ll peck you on the lips and then embrace you while smothering your neck with kisses. "...But it's cute that you're jealous."

Castiel being insecure

I think Castiel can be a bit insecure due to the fact that he’s away a LOT due to the band. That leaves plenty of time and space for you to find someone else. And he doesn’t want to be that guy but sometimes he does have a small voice in the back of his head wondering if you’ve cheated on him at all during those times he was gone. See, he KNOWS he can trust you. But the poor man has a tad bit of anxiety. He would never accuse you though unless he had solid evidence or reason. 

I think he would just be insecure because he isn’t there for you the way he wants to be, and that really does eat him up inside. He tries to make up for it by sending gifts, letters, flowers, chocolates etc. allll the time.

But because he is kind of an idiot, I don’t think he would ask for reassurance, I think he would jump straight to giving you the opportunity to dump him lmfao “Y/N, I know me being gone is hard on you sometimes. And I don’t want to hold you back, so if this isn’t something you want to do anymore I completely understand and respect your decision.” Ughhhh he’s so dumb. 

I think he would really appreciate physical reassurance along with verbal, because it helps him feel safe and loved when you wrap your arms around him and hold him tight.

Being insecure with Armin

Armin is a great boyfriend, he’s funny, he’s sweet, and is so charismatic. So charismatic in fact, that it sometimes can come across to other people as him being flirtatious. And the most annoying part is that he doesn’t even realize he’s doing it because…well, he isn’t! To him, he’s just having a casual conversation with a girl who is interested in playing DnD, but little does he know (and so, SO obvious to anyone watching), the girl is clearly just trying to get him to take an interest in her. The way she’s twirling her hair and slightly poking out her chest… Armin PLEASE-

But, thankfully, he is also the kind of guy to “my girlfriend this, my girlfriend that…” so at some point during this conversation he’s probably like “You know what, you and my girlfriend should talk about this some more because she would love to have another girl to play with!” He turns around to look for you in the store and motions over when he spots you, “Hey babe, come here real quick!” It definitely shuts down whatever insecurity you were feeling, and it DEFINITELY discourages the girl from trying to make any more moves.

Being insecure with Armin in my opinion is something you may deal with simply because I feel like he would have a lot of female friends. But at the end of the day they are JUST friends and he makes sure to let you know that. He may be a bit annoyed at first, because “Why would you be insecure? I’m obsessed with you woman!” But he would never be upset with you, and will still do whatever he needs to do to reassure you that you’re the only one he wants. Careful though, he’s kind of a little shit. “....You’re kinda hot when you’re jealous though, babe~”

Armin being insecure

I think Armin gets pretty jealous quite easily. It’s not hard for him to start shooting daggers at anyone who looks at his girl even slightly too long. A bit problematic, but he’s working on it!! Very quick to get grumpy if he thinks you were a little too friendly with another guy lol like i said, working on it. He has gotten better!

I feel like Armin would be most insecure of the possibility of you finding another, a BETTER boyfriend than him. He knows he kind of messed up in the past with you guys and he is constantly worrying about if he’s doing okay this time around, if what he’s doing is enough for you. I feel like he wouldn’t be afraid to address it, he would bring it up immediately and very casually. Kind of often as well, like once every couple of weeks. “Are we doing okay, hon?” 

“Do you need anything, baby?” “I just wanna make sure I’m keeping you happy, I don’t want to lose you again…” He’s so cute dkfjkdfjls

Honestly, just start reassuring him by thanking him, making him feel appreciated by all he’s done, and is continuously doing for you. It helps him know he’s doing something right and he enjoys making his girl the happiest in the world, so it’s a win for everyone. Maybe even return the favor once in a while, do something nice for him too!

self-ship coded, but anyone can enjoy. <3 i’m still really hung up on armin being your secret admirer. and you finding out it’s him can go two ways:

1. he confesses

telling you that he’s been the one leaving flowers and little poems for months was easier said than done. armin had a lapse of judgement, thought that yearning from the sidelines wasn’t enough and he was done with being a ghost. his confidence was short lived, because now that you were standing in front of him, confused and not catching on to what he’s saying, he wanted to crawl away and hide. this was such a bad idea. you’d be disappointed and weirded out that it’s been him this whole time.

“I, um, I wanted t-to tell you that it’s been m-me. leaving stuff for you.” he sputtered, words falling out of his mouth without thinking it through. he wanted to say something more romantic, like in his poems. you thought it was just a crazy coincidence, that armin was at the same place at the same time the note wedged in between your door said to meet up at. everything became so much clearer. the sonnets were so sweet and seemed so personal, decorated with words only an intelligent person like him would say. they were never creepy or intrusive. armin made them personal and put a lot of thought into everything he had written.

“oh, of course!” you smiled, your face lighting up with amusement and satisfaction. you now knew who the mysterious guy was. you immediately pulled him in for a hug, not hesitating or even thinking twice about it. armin was too stunned to reciprocate the affection, even though he had been longing for some kind of physical contact with you for a while.

“you’re not… upset…?” he questioned. he had envisioned everything going so badly, he didn’t anticipate you’d be happy. excited?

“no way.” you chuckled into his shoulder and squeezed him tighter. whatever was to happen now, you fully accepted it. armin wasn’t just nice. he was kind and gentle, never having a bad thing to say about anyone or anything. armin was intelligent and quick witted. not much could be said for the other folks you’ve been dating on and off. it wouldn’t be right to pass up on someone you knew would treat you with dignity and respect.

“I’m s-so glad.” he sighed. he didn’t even realize he had been holding his breath since before you had even gotten there. the sudden boost of oxygen kickstarted his brain, and he embraced you in his arms in the way he always wanted.

2. he gets caught.

you really weren’t trying to be nosy. your intentions were pure, only wanting to return the journal to its owner. but, in order to get a clue on who it belonged to, you had to open it. you flipped through the pages, not reading anything, just searching for a name anywhere.

you suddenly couldn’t put it down. you noticed a pattern in the way the i’s were dotted, the way this person crossed their t’s and looped their g’s, j’s, and y’s. whoever this journal belonged to was the same person who had been leaving you notes in odd places. places they knew you’d find them. you had been receiving anonymous letters, notes, and poems for months. it was driving you crazy, not knowing who the person was. and now you were one step closer.

you immediately turned to the front inside, searching for a name. on the back cover, in the corner, and in the smallest handwriting that matched the penmanship on the pages and in your messages, was the name armin arlert. you couldn’t retain the shocked gasp you released. you needed to find him, give him his journal back, but then what. he would definitely be humiliated if you said you knew he was your secret admirer, even more so if you mentioned that you looked inside of it. and besides, you and armin were just friends. what would happen next of the topic was brought up?

“i’ve been looking everywhere for this! I thought it was gone for good, thank you!” armin practically snatched the journal from your hand. he clutched it to his chest, then opened and flicked through the pages with his thumb as of to see if anything was ripped out or missing. you smiled, swallowing back the truth armin didn’t know that you knew.

“how did you, uh, know this was mine?” he asked. armin’s shoulders stiffened, waiting for your response.

“it wasn’t hard to figure it out. your name is written in the back, so…” you trailed off and shrugged. armin nodded, believing in half of the facts you divulged.

“thanks for not going all through it. t-there’s some… really personal stuff in here.” his smile was wide and genuine, trifle grateful for your honest deed.

you watched armin strategically stack his journal along with his other books he was carrying. you made the decision then and there to not say anything about knowing he was your closeted fan. the fact that he would be embarrassed beyond life itself was obvious. armin was a shy guy. you hardly ever saw him talk to girls that weren’t you, or sasha, or mikasa. and he never talked about dating, or having a girlfriend. with his anxious disposition, girls weren't a thing that came easily to him. perhaps it was better if armin came forward about his feelings in his own time, rather than being found out and confronted on the spot.

“yeah, of course. no problem.” you bit your tongue and patted him on the back.

Hi Karizard! Just finished reading Clueless Teens in like … two sittings - it’s legit the best school caste au fic I’ve come across, i love it so much. I know Eremika is the main focus but holy shit ur Aruani is! So sweet! 😭 Would you ever consider writing more Aruani stuff in the future?

Aw, thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I tend to include Aruani as a side ship in my longer fics. They feature in Anamnesis but I didn't tag them as a ship because they do not have a happy ending together and it's pretty much just solid angst between them throughout lol.

I'm still working on finishing my single parents au wip, but Aruani are the other couple in it. They, of course, don't show up as much as Eremika, but they are in it and they deal with changes to their relationship due to becoming new parents.

I'm going to share a little snippet, as a treat (also, I'm chomping at the bit to get this finished and posted, so I want very badly to share scenes and whatnot).

Here, Armin and Annie bring their baby on his first outing, meeting up with Eren, Mikasa, and their kids at the playground.

BEGIN SCENE!

Annie made sure Alexander was secure in his sling while Armin grabbed the diaper bag and slung it over his shoulder. 

"Is he okay in there?" he fretted. "You're sure he won't fall out or smother?"

"Maybe the sling wasn't a good idea…" said Annie, looking up at the other families occupying the playground near Eren and Mikasa’s houses. "Maybe bringing him out at all wasn't a good idea…" 

She bit her lip and glanced over towards where Eren and Mikasa were watching their kids play. Mason was running back and forth across the play structure’s bridge, doing spin kicks at each landing, while Adriana squealed and hollered because Eren was wiping her nose when she wanted to play. She had been a snotty, coughing mess all morning, he’d warned them, adding, “But don’t worry. The doctor said she’s not contagious, just gross.”

So maybe Adri wasn't an infection risk, but what about all these other kids? Annie held Alexander protectively against her body. He made a grunting sound, bobbing his fists and looking up at her. She glanced down at him just in time to see his face screw up and relax as he farted. Her heart swelled. "We're going to bring you home so none of these rowdy little shits can get you sick," she cooed. 

Alexander grunted again, not comprehending but pleased to be part of the conversation.

"Armin, we're going," said Annie.

"Sounds good!" said Armin, opening the car door he had just closed and stowing the diaper bag back inside.

Across the park lawn, Mikasa smacked Eren's arm and pointed at them.

"Ope!" he said, setting Adri free and jogging across the grass to the Arlerts. "Don't even think about it!" he said, stopping next to them. "You told us you were going crazy stuck at home. Now that the baby has his shots and it’s warming up, it's time for you two to get out of the house. He’ll be fine. You don’t need to keep him in a bubble."

"Look," said Armin. "I know it probably seems like we're being excessive to you, but you don't know what it's like having a child with medical issues."

Eren gaped at him. “Seriously?”

"What?" said Armin. "You don't."

"My kid literally can't breathe without daily steroids and gets bronchitis multiple times a year," said Eren, his eyebrows dropping into a dangerous line across his face. "What is Alexander's chronic illness?"

Armin averted his eyes. 

"Sorry. I didn't hear you. What was it again?" said Eren. He was in a far worse mood than usual.

"Nothing," grumbled Armin. "The doctor gave him a clean bill of health.”

“Oh!” said Eren. “How interesting!” 

“But his immune system is still immature so we have to be careful with him,” Armin persisted.

Eren held up his hands. "Fine. But if you keep sheltering him from everything like this, Alexander is going to turn out like you," he warned.

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?" Armin demanded. "My parents did a great job!"

Annie reached past him to open the car door and get the diaper bag back out. “I guess a little fresh air and sunshine wouldn’t hurt.”

Armin turned to look at her, the betrayal evident all over his face. 

"I love you so much, baby," she said. "Just the way you are."

"That's not really what it seems like right now!" said Armin.

"No, really!" said Annie. "You're so intelligent and handsome and talented!"

"But?" said Armin, folding his arms.

"No buts," said Annie, heading towards Mikasa. "It's just that my dad didn't coddle me at all and I'm much less…"

"Much less what?" said Armin, scowling and chasing after her.

"Um... Prissy," said Annie. 

“We are talking more about this at home,” said Armin.

“Yes, dear,” said Annie.

“Tan I see the baby?” Adri squealed as soon as she noticed the Arlerts had finally joined them, chugging down the play structure steps as fast as her little legs could carry her and wiping her snot on her pudgy wrist.

Annie closed her eyes, took a deep, stabilizing breath and kneeled down so Adri could see Alexander. 

“Hello little Aleskander!” Adri said, then sneezed in his face, spraying him in spit.

Alexander gasped, his eyes popping open wide and his arms flinging out to his sides. “Oh, god…” groaned Annie.

Armin glared at Eren.

“Sorry little guy! I promise she’s not contagious,” said Eren, snatching his backpack from the ground and pulling out a pack of wipes. Alexander’s fists were bopping a mile a minute. His run-in with Adri had been very exciting. Eren held out the pack of wipes for Annie and she extracted one, using it to clean her son’s face while he aired his grievances in a thin wail. He was no longer enjoying his grand adventure now that it included being subjected to torture. 

“He’s crying,” Mason observed, skipping toward them to see the new baby. “Maybe he’s hungry. Mom, can I have a snack?”

“Tan I have one, too?” said Adri.

“I might have something,” said Mikasa. She hadn’t packed anything besides her and Mason’s lunches because they were going to be eating so soon but she might have a bag of chips or a protein bar in her purse that the kids could split.

“I’ll give Aleskander his bottle,” Adri said, putting her hands on her hips and inspecting the baby with an officious nod. “I’s going to take very good care of him.”

Mason grabbed his hair. “You know what? I can’t take it anymore, Adriana!” he shouted. “It’s I’m! Not I’s! You are saying it wrong! You say everything wrong! How can you be so dumb?”

"Mason!" said Mikasa.

Adriana’s face twisted with rage and she punched him.

“Ow!” Mason yelped. “She hit me!”

“Adriana May Jaeger!” Eren barked.

“I think she gave me internal bleeding,” Mason moaned, doubling over and clutching his stomach.

“He said I’s dumb!” Adriana howled.

“I’m,” Mason screeched. “You’re supposed to say I’m! Did you learn to talk at upside-down school?”

“I’s! Too! Little! For! Stool!” Adriana shrieked, punching him again.

“My organs!” Mason wailed.

“Kids with busted organs don’t get to play at the playground,” said Mikasa, sifting through her giant bag with greater urgency. Maybe if their mouths were occupied with chewing, the kids would stop screaming at each other. “Kids with busted organs have to go to the hospital.”

Mason eyed her, then straightened with theatrical uncertainty, patting his abdomen. “Hey! It doesn’t hurt anymore! ” he said as if he were as shocked by the news as any of them. “I’m okay!”

“A miracle,” said Mikasa.

Random headcanons about episode 26

N/A : I really liked this episode too ! I was kinda inspired (I think ?)so there'll be some headcanons about the date but also some about the picnic with Alexy & the girls (also yeah, it's refreshing to write about things I actually enjoy, it didn't happen in a while sadly, so thank you for your understanding dear <3)

So let's start with the dates with the HSL Boys :

About the date with Nathaniel, I found it funny how Candy thought it'd be a good idea to invite him on a picnic, in a park, in the middle of spring, when she knows that he's badly allergic to pollen (I just know that my boy had to make a stock of antihistamines and was suffering in silence, guess he really wanted that date)

I like to think that Nathaniel actually took the time to carefully prepare himself for the picnic. Because even if Candy didn't specified it or anything, Nath wanted to believe that it was indeed a date. So, he thought a lot about what he should wear (let's ignore the fact that he still wears the same outfit in the illustration) and he put on a nice cologne, hoping that Candy would like it

It's pretty clear that Nathaniel intended to declare himself (there's a moment where he really seems about to kiss Candy) so when they got interrupted by Thomas, he tried to hide it but he was pissed (really Iris, put a leash on your brother, some people are trying to get it here)

In the case of Armin, I liked how he freaked out at the wasps' attack and it kinda make sense since at the frequency he goes outside, he probably hadn't seen a wasp since 2007 lmao

Also this little picnic date surely did him some good because there's no way this boy doesn't have a vitamin D deficiency (Okay, I might be a little hard on Armin right now, I'll stop)

Armin brought the sandwiches and believe or not but it was pretty good. He's not a big cook but I don't think he's a bad one, he just sticks to simple things (also he mastered the art of making sandwiches because it's his favorite 2 AM snack to make when he's pulling an all-nighter)

I believe that it's during this picnic that Armin realised that he had a crush on Candy (Guys, he spent a WHOLE afternoon out in the wild just for Candy, that says a lot if you ask me)

Okay one thing about the date with Castiel : I wanted him to bring Demon to the picnic (maybe it could have been hard to manage with all the food around but come on, he's a good boy LET HIM OUT BEEMOOV)

I am also a dog person so I might be biased lol

But just picture it : Castiel and Candy enjoying their little lunch with them taking turn to feed Demon with little bites of food (adorable plus, Castiel would enjoy to see Candy playing with Demon)

Also, Castiel's change of tone when talking to his dog (if you have a pet, you know what I mean). Candy would melt (and me too)

After eating, Candy and Castiel could have take Demon for a little walk in the park and Castiel would have let Candy hold the leash as she seems really excited about it (and he would have been really happy about it. Once again, if you have a pet you know how great it feels when someone you like gets along with your pet. It's so cute to see !)

Since Demon has this bad habit to pull on the leash (as seen in episode 3 of HSL), Castiel would help out Candy by putting his hand above hers to get a hold on the leash (and also to hold her hand)

Firstly, I am convinced that Nina was hiding somewhere in the park when she saw Lysander and Candy together (Back to the time where Nina was in her Joe Goldberg era lmao)

I think Lysander was the calmest amongst the boys about the date (and luckily he was because Candy was stressed out enough for the both of them. As usual)

He might have asked Leigh advices about dates 'cause like, he's supposed to have some experience right ? (the truth is that when his brother asked him that, he was just like "well, I was just existing and then Rosa decided that I'll be her boyfriend. So just stand there and exist I guess ?" Yeah, great advice from the big bro)

When I tell you that Kentin was ecstatic when Candy invited him on a picnic, that's an euphemism (bro was internally screaming)

Really, he probably wasn't able to stand still until the D-Day (he waited for that since basically forever so understandable)

Also, just like with Castiel, I wanted him to bring Cookie (I really like dogs, sorry)

The illustration for Kentin's route is so cute

The both of them, laying in the green grass, so close to each other with the bright sun above them. (That's such a picturesque vision, I love it !)

I like to think that they reminisced together of the memories they had from before they arrived to Sweet Amoris. Kentin tends to feel insecure when talking about this period of his life. However, as they both talking he realises that there's no judgment in Candy's tone and that the moments they spent together actually means a lot to her. It would warms his heart and if it was even possible, he'd be even more fond of Candy

(I wish they talked more about it in the game because even if it gets better by the end of HSL, his route still feels a bit superficial. Like there's this idea that he had to completely transform himself and become handsome to become "interesting". I don't know if you know what I mean)

Now, about the picnic with Alexy & the girls :

Before starting, I kinda wanted to see more interactions between the characters during the picnic (but I guess that the episode would have too long then but it's okay, I'll put some here)

Kim & Capucine's conversation (might sound odd but I'll explain it)

Kim (just know that I love HSL Kim, she's such a good character) just has this protective and « I won’t take any shit » vibe (even though she’s actually a big softie as we see with her interactions with Violette and it's so cute) and everyone respects her like naturally ?

In the beginning of this episode, Capucine was insufferable. Really, this girl was trying really hard to be like Amber when she’s nothing like her (and if you take into account the fact that Amber herself is putting on a persona, you kinda get a girl trying to put one someone else’s persona thinking that it’s the way to go. Kinda sad).

(just putting it here but I liked having a character like HSL Amber in the game because she brings the drama you know ? she's also a bully but she also have some depth to her character ? I am really confused 'cause I've had some bad experiences with people like her during my school years so I am wondering : Is Amber character actually good or do I have a Stockholm's Syndrome-ish thing ???? pls help)

Let's go back to our sheep : Kim & Capucine's interaction 

So I like to think that during the picnic, Kim and Capucine got to talk a little and boom, two worlds meet : Kim doesn’t really give a shit about what people think of her and oppositely, Capucine lives by that. And I think because of it, Capucine kinda have a negative image of Kim. 

Until they get to talk. Kim is friendly towards her even if she acts like a bitch because I truly think that Kim is pretty good at reading and understanding people (she probably doesn’t even realise it herself but when you’re capable to bond with someone so reserved as Violette as well as getting along with Castiel AND Nathaniel at the same time, it says quite a lot about this ability she has)

I think this conversation they’d have on the park would make Capucine think that Kim is a pretty cool person even though they are quite different and what's the most striking difference is that Kim is truly authentic (it’s something that’s pretty rare these days so when you come across someone like that it can really makes you question a lot of things) and she might even realise that the persona she puts on everyday at school doesn’t suit her and that she’s actually not happy with it (which I believe, after her relationship with Samuel, is one of the realisations she had before trying to become a better and truer version of herself)

This one was a bit long but I think there's so many things to say about Kim's character lol

Now, Melody and Iris talking about the whole Nathaniel situation and Alexy coming from nowhere just to say something like "there's too many fishes in the sea to waste time on one that doesn't want be caught. Move on girlie"

Like 'ayoo, mind your own business boy ?' (that's Alexy, of course he's not going to do that. He just has this radar for drama)

It's either that or HE IS the drama

Anyway, Melody is a bit startled because "how do you know about that ???" when the really question is "how could anyone not know" with how she's so not subtle. And that's how Alexy would basically become a love coach for the afternoon (wtf)

However if Melody starts to talk about Candy being too close to Nath, oh boy, Alexy goes defensive mode and he won’t hear more of this nonsense (like girl it’s not Candy’s fault if Nathaniel likes her better, wake up) 

Anyway, this conversation would be pretty random and Melody wouldn't really know what to answer because I feel like she’s a pretty reserved person and on the contrary Alexy’s quite unhinged and then, there’s Iris in the middle watching the show (honestly same girl, I’d like to witness this conversation too)

Violette (my sweet girl) would try to draw the landscape but would end up practicing drawing silhouette using her friends as models. She’d be too shy to show it but I just know she’d end up showing her sketches to Kim later and she’d blush when told how good this is (pls their relationship is so lovely, I kinda ship them)

A Peggy and Rosalya’s interaction could also be interesting : they both like to know the gossips and all but the difference between them is that Rosalya would not spread rumours the way Peggy does. So I think Rosa would try to make her understand that she sometimes goes too far which is unfortunate because well, she’s cool to hang out with but if she keeps going like that, she might end up having everyone turning their back on her. 

The water fight is honestly quite fun to imagine

Despite what he says in the game, Alexy lost it (and quite significantly) 

I mean bro, you’re trying to put a fight against Kim, what did you expect ???

I was thinking about how Levi is, in microcosm, representative of one of the main themes of SnK, which is of course the foolishness and danger of casting judgement and making assumptions about people and their actions without proper context or understanding of those actions, and how those sorts of judgments can lead to disastrous consequences, both personally and on a larger scale.

We see people do this to Levi multiple times throughout the story. It's ironic, too, in the face of Levi's nonjudgmentalism.

We see Mikasa judging Levi for beating Eren up during his trial, even going so far as to vocally call him degrading names and threatening to get him back for for he did. We later see several members of the 104th negatively judge Levi and accuse him of wanting to make a grab for power because of what he did to Historia. We see the 104th again, later on, make further negative judgments about Levi because they saw him kill people, with Mikasa again accusing Levi of having something "wrong" with him. And then we later see Floch judge Levi negatively for choosing to save Armin over Erwin, accusing him of letting his personal feelings get in the way of making a logical decision.

What's really interesting about all of this, and also sad, is that in all of these instances, these knee-jerk judgments turn out to be completely off the mark and wrong, and the people making said judgments are shortly faced with the consequences of making assumptions and lording their supposed moral superiority over Levi.

In the first instance, despite Mikasa's vocal dislike of Levi, and threatening behavior towards him, he ends up saving her life and helping her to save Eren from Annie. And, indeed, the main source of Mikasa's dislike and anger is her perception that Levi is treating Eren badly, when in reality, Levi does all he can to protect and safeguard Eren, and only did what he did in the first place to save Eren's life, the very things Mikasa joined the SC for to begin with.

In the second instance, it becomes clear, after Historia assumes the throne, that Levi never had any intention of making a grab for power, or that he had any sort of personal agenda at all. The only thing he does is support Historia in her attempts to reform the class disparities that exist between the people of the Underground and those above. He gains nothing personally from this, and the 104th realize that their assumption about Levi trying to strong arm or manipulate Historia for personal gain was wrong, that in fact, he only ever had altruistic intentions for why he did what he did. Dimo Reeves understood that immediately, and it makes sense, him being a more worldly and mature person. He called Levi an "awkward but kind man", while trying to explain to Historia that she shouldn't be mad at Levi.

In the third instance, we see Jean having to face the consequences of his black and white moral thinking of killing always being wrong, when he needs to be saved by Armin, and in the process, puts the burden of taking a life onto Armin because of his own indecision and desire to maintain moral purity. Ironically, in his own, selfish desire to claim the moral high ground, he puts Armin through great emotional turmoil and pain. Jean had been happy to judge Levi for killing others not so long before that, boldly claiming that he would never do such a thing, and that it was always wrong, no matter the circumstances, and because of that, he ended up causing great harm to another person, a person he considers his friend, no less.

And then the last instant, with Floch, judging Levi for choosing to save Armin over Erwin, is yet another assumption made about Levi's actions without understanding the reasoning, or even attempting to understand, and Floch's assumption here, in a way, leads to him taking matters into his own hands while laboring under the belief that they needed a "devil" to save Paradis. It's why he hitches his wagon to Eren and leads the movement to overthrow the military top brass and assist in unleashing the Rumbling.

The point being, all these instances of people negatively judging and making assumptions about Levi and his actions, without properly understanding the reasons or context for those actions, really encapsulates the overarching theme of SnK of the dangers, unfairness and consequences of judging others without attempting to first understand them.

Zeke is my favourite fictional character. He's just so... fascinating. He's initially presented as weird and mysterious but he turns out to be a giant dork and a huge loser with the most severe daddy issues I've ever seen.

I love him so much. Here's a very long ramble that's kinda sorta a character analysis (it's bad though).

He gives off Reddit mod energy (then again, Eren has Discord mod energy (disclaimer: I love Eren too)), has the sense of humour of a 12 year old, hangs around people who are quite a bit younger than him (granted, his only other option is creepy old military men), has smoked since he was probably like 15 and spends his life "pretending" to be stupid.

And yet he genuinely cares about other people in his own way. He really did just want to make it so that Eldians didn't have to suffer. He assumed that because he had a shit life and was treated terribly (as were his parents), everyone else was in the same boat. It never occured to him that other Eldians were happy, because, like, why would they be?

He's willing to go to the ends of the earth and beyond to fulfill his mission, which he's held on to since he was a teenager. Even though Ksaver did plant the seeds for Zeke, Zeke came up with his plan himself. Ksaver never mentioned anything about reproduction, just that the Founder could be used to alter Eldian biology.

He's devasted when Eren goes "lol jk bro" and betrays him, because he finally found someone he thought he could trust (his first mistake was trusting Eren of all people). He couldn't understand why Eren went against his plan, or what Eren was even trying to accomplish in the first place.

Also, I think it's worth mentioning that Zeke's euthanasia plan undermines everything Ymir Fritz went through. She suffered severely, but I like to imagine that she really did love her daughters to the best of her ability. Zeke saying that Eldians would be better off not existing in the first place and that he's going to get rid of them is telling Ymir Fritz that all her suffering was for absolutely fucking nothing. Whereas Eren wants Eldians to live on, because that way, Ymir can be freed, and she can see that there is beauty in the world (which she did via Mikasa, as badly explained as it was lol).

Zeke never saw that beauty. He was brainwashed and abused and taken advantage of his entire life. By his parents, by Marley (yes, even Ksaver), and, later, by Eren. To him, there was nothing redeeming about the world.

Hence his final line where he talks about what a lovely day it is and how nice/clear the sky is, but that it ultimately is too late to realise that (? I haven't read the chapter in a while, I don't remember the exact wording). That's him acknowledging that he was wrong about the world lacking beauty.

Yes, Ksaver did care for him and did love him, but he did also use Zeke for his own gain. He was projecting his son onto Zeke, as he said so himself in canon, and he was also hoping that Zeke could accomplish what he (Ksaver) wasn't able to. Zeke may not have been as determined to save the Eldians (in his own way) if he hadn't spent time with Ksaver.

Zeke and Eren are fascinating to me, because Eren threw away his humanity in order to save the world/his loved ones, yet was very upset that he had to do so (given his paths convo with Armin), yet Zeke... was stripped of most of his humanity before he had a chance to even embrace it. My personal interpretation is that he never realised he was lacking humanity (which is something Levi kept trying to point out, especially in the forest with reminding Zeke about his Rakago crime) because death and killing were so normalised to him (and to him, his enemies weren't human because they were mostly Eldians and he, as an Eldian, wasn't considered human -- or at least he may have used that as a justification for his actions), and it wasn't until the very end that it hit him.

Lastly, part of why I love the dynamic between Zeke and Levi is that they're two sides of the same coin. They're both admired and feared by people (for different reasons), are traumatised in every possible way, and are similar yet also very different.

When they're interacting, neither of them give a shit about the other's status or powers or whatever. They fight like equals on par with each other and don't hold back. Warchief Zeke? Captain Levi? Nope. They're just Zeke and Levi to each other. (And they'd be friends if they were on the same side, maybe.)

ANYWAY Zeke Yeager is a great character and I love my monkeyman so much. He had such good character development and his backstory is really well done. The "I love you, Zeke" paths scene is my favourite since in all of SnK just for how much that means for both Grisha and Zeke.

Erwin X Reader | His Last Mission

Warning: Spoiler, some cuss words. Author's Note: I loved this idea! lemme know if you'd like to see some headcanons about how he was after retirement.

"Can I come in, Sir?" You said in your professional voice as you entered Erwin's office.

"There is no one here," he said with a soft voice as he slowly lifted his eyes from the paperwork he has been working on and gave you the smile that always calms you down.

You both were going out on the Shiganshina mission tomorrow and you both didn't have even a little bit of time left to spend with each other.

One thing that you realized after all these years of being on the survey team is that you never know which day is your last outside these walls so you always make it a priority to spend time with the ones that are close to you before you head out or before they head out. And this right here was you man so doing the paperwork was the last thing that either of you wanted to do. 

Erwin and you have been going out for quite some time now and with the way he tasks risks, you're always worried if he'll come back or not. You were so happy when you found out that you were selected for this mission because you knew that this is a huge one and he'll be reckless for sure. At least you'll be there to help him out as much as you.

You locked the door behind you and walked over to him and kissed him softly as you sat on his lap. You both knew that this is the best you can do right now given the work that is still left to do. "You should get some rest." You said half whispering as you lay your head on his chest.

He sighed deeply and wrapped his arms around you in his warm embrace. You can tell he's been working for a long time now. "This is good enough for me for now," he said hugging your closer and leaning back in his chair. You both stayed for some time like that. For him just your presence can charge him up.

"Do you think it'll go as planned?" you asked playing with the button of his shirt. You knew what the answer was but still wanted to see what he'll say. "Does it ever?" he said with closed eyes. Having you close to him is good enough for him.

To his luck, you were his subordinate so you saw him around quite often. You both stayed like this and talked the entire night as he finished his work then head out to your rooms. It was important to take a rest as well. It was a big day tomorrow.

You could have never been more proud of him, but this speech that he gave to scouts before leaving brought chills to you and filled you with such motivation for the mission along with love and respect for him. At times you wish you can show him off to others as your man too but this would quite literally mean exile to the both of you.

This happy feeling turned to dread just as quickly when the thought of him out on the frontlines came to your mind. It must have really shown on your face because Levi came and said, "Oi, We all will come back." he looked over to Erwin and back at you, "All of us." This man has been so supportive of you since the day he accidentally walked in on the two of you hugging in Erwin's room.

The mission was going fine but then tragedy hit. So many of the scouts died. You were badly injured as well but you found shelter in one church. You planned to wrap up the wounds and go back to help others but because of the loss of blood, you fainted.

Meanwhile, everyone thought you to be dead. So did Erwin. He then declared to lead the suicide mission that will be the key to making this mission a success. He did that and it WAS a success.

As you woke up you could hear Levi and Mikasa. It was hard to recognize where it was coming from because of the weak consciousness. But you figured soon that they were on the top of the building. You got back your strength and went outside.

As you reached on top you could see Mikasa was on top of Levi about to slay her blade, and that is when you stopped her. You knew you were too weak to stop her in this condition.

You saw Erwin in a really bad state. Your whole body stopped then and there. You felt so weak but Levi's voice arguing with Mikasa brought you back.

On the other side, there was a completely burnt body. Soon you understood what was going on and who that body was.

Levi was looking over to you again and again so that you'll side with him on giving the syringe to Erwin.

"Give it to Armin," you said after being silent for what felt like an eternity. Even though this was not what even a cell in your body wanted to do but it was either your feelings or the future of humanity.

"Have you lost it? Get a grip on the fucking reality it is Erwin you're talking about." Levi shouted at you. You gave him the "trust me" look. He was not so convinced but he stood back.

You asked him to take care of Armin, give him the syringe, and get all the other things done and he hesitated but obliged with a "You better know what the fuck you're doing"

You went over to Erwin. The only and biggest problem was that he had lost a lot of blood. You shouted if anyone had the blood type that goes with his and apparently Hange did. You always carried your equipment with you in the missions. Sadly they always came in handy and this time to your biggest fear, you were using them on your love.

You did the transplant but were not sure how he is going to react to it. Or if he'll even make it. You were by his side the entire time making sure that whenever he woke up you tried to keep him that way but failed most of the time.

Nonetheless, he made it back and got healthy and left scouts for good. He has been planning to do it way earlier but wanted to make sure that he gives his best. You on the other hand stayed because you had excellent medical skills and you could help the scouts when they are out and about.

After a few months, you two made it official that you were dating but never told anyone that this has been going on for longer than this.

Post-retirement Erwin was a delight with all his attention on you and whenever you two went to bed he WAS THERE not buried in paperwork or doing something else. He was right there for YOU all the time.

Armin was also excited cause he’s a proud swiftie himself. But he had something special planned for this night.

He was gonna propose to Y/n.

Those two tickets being available was a sign. A sign for Armin to ask her to spend the rest of their lives together.

And he followed that sign.

It was finally the night. The night of the concert. The couple was so excited cause they get to see their favourite singer on stage.

IN PERSON.

“So, you excited?” Armin asks Y/n and she nods eagerly.

“Of course I am Armin! I mean how could I not be?! We get to see the Taylor Swift in person and oh my god I’m freaking out!”

He chuckles lightly looking at her with such a sweet smile that only Armin can pull off.

They reached the venue and both of them were freaking out so badly. Everyone who was going was to be fair.

They head inside and go to their seats which was pretty close to the stage. Armin wanted to make this night as special as possible for Y/n.

The concert started and there were loud cheers coming from the crowd including the couple.

After sometime, it was time for the fearless album and Armin was freaking out from the inside cause the time was almost here.

He had the ring ready in his pocket but he needed someone to record this moment so they can look back at it years later.

He had a paper and pen and wrote a message saying “please record me in love story im gonna propose”

Tapping the stranger’s shoulder making sure his girlfriend doesn’t see. The stranger was a woman who was probably their age turned to look at him and he handed the note.

The woman smiled and gave him a thumbs up letting him know the job will get done.

He mouthed a thank you smiling back and continued with the show.

Y/n wasn’t even paying attention to her surroundings cause of how much fun she was having.

Finally the song was here.

Y/n turned to Armin with a smile on her face and held out her hand.

He of course took it and pulled her closer. Dancing to the beat together like the rest of the world didn’t exist to them.

It was just the two of them and the music.

He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring a said

Armin knelt to the ground according to the lyrics and pulled out the most beautiful ring in the world.

Y/n was in shock. Her jaw was dropped to the ground with her hand covering her mouth.

I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress

It’s a love story, baby just says yes

Armin sang along basically asking the love of his life to spend the rest of their lives together.

Everyone who was around them was cheering loudly and Y/n was crying while nodding her head yes.

Armin had the biggest and prettiest smile ever.

He got up and put the ring on the empty ring finger and they gave each other a tight hug before giving a long kiss.

That kiss right there sealed the deal. It was filled with love, happiness and excitement

The question was popped and the answer was yes.

They pulled away and Y/n had never been so happy in her life. She couldn’t stop smiling at all and wanted to savour this moment forever.

“I love you” She said but since it was loud, Armin couldn’t hear her but knew exactly what she said.

“I love you too” He mouthed back and enjoyed the rest of the concert in happiness.

The lovely stranger tapped Armin and she showed the video to him. He felt even happier knowing he will be able to look back at this beautiful moment.

He asked her to send it through airdrop and she did exactly that.

“Thank you so much for doing this” He thanked the woman. A total stranger who didn’t even know each other’s name.

“Your welcome! Don’t worry about it.” She said in return and they went back to enjoying the show.

It’s been a few hours and the concert ended. The newly engaged couple headed to the car to head back home.

They were indeed exhausted. Their wrists were full of bracelets from You’re on your own kid and confetti.

The drove home in peace with some calm music playing.

They got home and the moment they were inside, Y/n gave her now fiancé a long and loving kiss.

“Thank you so much for making this night special Armin. You have no idea how happy you made me and how much I’ll treasure this moment.”

He couldn’t stop smiling. How couldn’t he?

“Of course my love. I would do anything to make you happy. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life you. I love you so much.”

They wash themselves and changed into their night clothes and laid on the bed.

“Hey, I actually got someone to record the proposal.” Armin said and opened his phone to show the video.

Y/n got up in anticipation. “Really? Lemme see it”

He shows the video to her and she was so happy. He explained how he asked a stranger to record this moment and thanked her so many times.

“Oh my god, I can’t believe a total stranger did this for us. That’s so sweet of her” She sighed in adoration.

“I know right. This just shows that there are good people in this world. They’re just sometimes hard to find.”

They decided to call it a night and head to sleep. He give her a quick peck on the forehead before turning off the light.

He held her gently but firmly. Yup, he cannot wait to do this everyday forever.

He secretly thanks Taylor in his mind cause she’s the whole reason for this.

Spoiler for those who haven’t finished season 4 part 3/the last two episodes

I just finished the last episode and my mind is a hot mess.

I’m probably going to miss some things but here are some of the stuff I have an opinion about:

1. Regarding armin/erwin my thoughts remain unchanged. Despite feeling strongly about it, I gave the series the benefit of the doubt when erwin got killed. I wanted to see if I was wrong. I would’ve been happy about it. In the end armin turned out to be as effective of a commander as a ten year old. The fact of the matter is that he couldn’t do much in the end. He had a number of breakdowns, he wasn’t able to control or utilize the colossal titan as well as bertholdt could in the past, he slipped up that time he was doing a little pep talk with yelena in the background, his biggest plan all along was always to “talk it out first” but that failed too, etc. Eren still did what he wanted and people still died. Except for blowing up the dock and when he tried to sacrifice himself so that falco wouldn’t get eaten by Connie’s mom, I don’t recall any other accomplishments that were of substance in season 4. It’s also possible that I’m just forgetting things because my mind is still racing right now and I’m still going through it emotionally, but for now my thoughts are unchanged. Can you imagine what it would have been like had erwin lived instead?

2. Connecting from the thought above, we can’t change that erwin died, but after finishing the series I can finally conclude that jean should’ve been the next commander. At the very least, he should have been made a vice commander. First of all it’s not impossible that floch survived all of that, but it’s pretty convenient that he did so he could shoot at the fuel tank in order to create a situation where the rumbling would catch up to them. In this situation it was also pretty convenient that Levi had been injured so badly he couldn’t be the one to fight, so as the commander hange decided she had to go, which was apparently a suicide mission because of the temperature around the colossals. I’m going to keep it 100% real here and say the circumstances leading up to this point of armin getting handed the commander’s seat were pretty convenient. Levi whose instincts were so great he managed to remain more or less unscathed for most of the series including when he had to fight kenny, he really didn’t see zeke using the lightning spear coming? And even then he couldn’t dodge it? Despite years of remaining unscathed under different circumstances that were just as if not more horrible? Levi who, along with mikasa, was the first to notice and to react to the replica of the beast titan throwing its shots at them? I just found it a bit hard to believe. And Hange said in the end, “The position calls for a certain quality― a mindset of continuously pursuing understanding”, and I admit armin did have this, but are we really going to ignore what hange also said earlier in the series just so it fits the current narrative? In season 3 when they were arguing about who to give the injection to, hange held mikasa back saying armin was indeed exceptional, but that he lacked the leadership and experience that erwin had. At least from my pov, armin didn’t really change much from the second half of season 1 to season 4. Jean on the other hand, has proven himself numerous times in this regard. He’s a quick thinker, reliable, practical, and passionate - all the qualities of a good leader. No doubt jean isn’t perfect, but imo he’s definitely more suitable. Let’s also not forget jean too has his moments of “pursuing understanding”. There are probably more than I can think of at the moment, but the ones that come to mind immediately are that scene at the end of season 1 which has really stuck with me ever since, when he asked armin if abandoning your humanity was the only way to win, and if eren did become that monster would that really be a victory for humanity, and then that other time when they were in the cell and jean asked mikasa and armin if eren hurting them had some sort of meaning behind it. I wouldn’t say jean is the smartest or the wisest character in the series, but he’s not brainless. Far from it. For some reason, and I’m guessing maybe because he can be short tempered at times, more often than not people don’t really talk about his quick thinking or about the important questions that he’s asked.

3. This is totally unrelated to the series and it’s about naruto so if you’re not into that or if you haven’t seen naruto just skip this part because spoilers.

Before eren’s intentions were made clear I already kind of guessed how it would play out because it’s reminiscent of how itachi wanted sasuke to be the one to kill him so that sasuke would be a hero of the leaf despite being an uchiha. Eren saw the crew as the people most important to him, and for itachi sasuke was even more precious than konoha itself. Eren committed genocide, itachi massacred his entire clan and more. Eren hurt the crew and especially mikasa and armin on purpose, itachi hurt sasuke on purpose. There was of course a huge difference between their executions, and imo itachi played his part much much more skillfully than eren did and for far longer, but it’s an interesting parallel.

4. I found the ending a bit weird. I can kind of roll with it but compared to the majority of the series and how it built itself up up until that point, it honestly feels off. I understand why people thought it was a bad ending, but I also don’t think the author deserved hate for it. And I mean like, there are some really angry people. In most situations, and I’m generalizing here, it’s alright to have opinions and it’s alright to feel a certain way but to direct those feelings towards the author himself is taking it a bit far. It’s his freedom to write whatever. Let’s be happy we even got anything from him. Without the author there would’ve been nothing at all. I know from personal experience it can be overwhelming at times, but it’s going to be ok.

5. I don’t have a particular attachment towards zeke but I felt sorry seeing everything that he had gone through. I’m mentioning this only because I’ve never really talked about it I think. I’ve talked about some of the other characters but not so much about zeke’s past from what I can remember. Grisha and Dina were terrible parents, and him calling Tom ksaver “father” was really sad. I know he’s not the only one and I really don’t even like him all that much but he really had it rough.

6. I felt that the love interests weren’t written very well. I get mikasa cause she’s been obsessed with eren from the start, but we really only started to see eren’s supposed “interest” in her in season 4, and only in glimpses. There really isn’t a lot of material to fall back on. I always felt he saw her as more of a sister? Of course he’s shouted at her before that he wasn’t her little brother or something along that line, but I always felt he just saw her as family. The only thing I can think of from earlier seasons to support this pair is that time when eren first wrapped the scarf around her and he was blushing. I always saw that as more of like, he was kind of embarrassed to do something like that because for him the act was a bit intimate and they weren’t too familiar with each other, but I guess you could also see it as him blushing because he had a small crush on her. On top of this they lived together in the same house and grisha has referred to mikasa as his daughter, so I just found it a bit weird. Obviously they’re not actually siblings but they were kind of raised as brother and sister for some time, so. A bit weird from my perspective. What’s more is the dynamic itself doesn’t seem to be very healthy. But I’m not mad at people who ship them. That kind of romance is definitely possible, and they’re technically not related, so it’s whatever I guess. They were also very young still so in an ideal world I imagine their dynamic might’ve been able to change for the better as they matured. On the other hand armin and Annie I found even weirder. It just felt too sudden. I get that armin ate bertholdt so that could’ve contributed, and I get that Annie literally only had armin and hitch as company most of the time for literal years, but it’s still weird for me. Like good for them but I wish it could’ve been a bit more fleshed out.

7. I’ve said this before but I didn’t appreciate the parallels drawn between Erwin and Armin. They are entirely separate characters with entirely different motives. Connecting to what I said at point 1 armin was never able to “replace” erwin. Of course the same can be said for erwin, he was never going to be another armin. I feel the same way about the parallels drawn between Sasha and gabi. Again two entirely separate characters with entirely different motives. I can appreciate parallels but only if they’re written well. These just felt like forced propaganda.

There’s more but for now I’ll stop here cause this is getting a bit long and I’m really tired

“What are these?” Armin pulls out thick frayed paper from between the pages of the worn notebook. 

You spot them and chuckle to yourself as he turns the paper to reveal a pencil drawing of a group of people in various poses and places. The hatching on it is clearly visible, done with a quick and light hand. Their faces are content, sometimes sitting in a circle over what looks like quiet conversation, other times laughing raucously, so hard that their eyes have narrowed to slits. Armin has never met these people before, but the drawings give him the impression that he somehow loves them the way the artist did. 

“Oh those?” You smile, walking up to him and taking the papers in your hands. You briefly smile down at them like they’re something precious. “Old drawings of mine.” 

“I didn’t know you draw,” Armin comments, his eyes widening at the new information. 

“Yeah,” you chuckle and hand him back the drawings. “I used to want to be an artist. You know, the kind who makes something meaningful that everyone knows the name of. I’m all washed up now though.”

“Why’d you stop?” 

“Well, Dad died and I didn’t have the energy to practice,” you smile even though the memory you’re recounting is painful. “I sort of lost the passion to do anything. Work was few and far between and living in the city didn’t help with expenses. Mom needed help, I needed money, my siblings were in school. I had to come home. Work for artists is few and far between even in the biggest of cities, in this town there’s nothing. And after a few years of being back here, I decided that I was fine with a modest life. No fame or meaningful artwork necessary.” 

Armin looks at the drawings, his blonde hair shifting slightly on his forehead. When he meets your eyes again, they’re big and rounded with emotion. “That’s a bit sad though, isn’t it?” 

“Nah,” you shake your head. “That’s just life.” 

You move to sit down on the bed and tangle your fingers together between your legs. Then, you stretch them out and make an exasperated and high pitched sound. Armin moves to sit beside you, not quite close enough to touch. 

“But man I would have really loved to draw for a living,” you give him a sideways glance and a smile. “Ya know, my friends used to ask me to draw pictures and sign them for them. They thought that I was gonna be some big shot artist. It was nice to have people have that kind of confidence in me. I did it for ‘em every time. I wonder if they still have them,” you wink, “just in case.” 

“Are the people in the drawings those friends?” 

“Mhm,” you nod. “I met ‘em all in college. Got lucky getting to know people like that.” 

Armin looks at the pencil drawings again. They look like they were done so quickly, but he can make out each person’s features individually across them. He gets the impression that you looked at them a lot, that drawing them was less of an exercise than it was an action of habit. There’s a lot of love in them, in these little moments you’d captured in your sketchbook. 

“Are you still in touch?” 

“With them? Not anymore,” you shrug. “We lost touch about six years ago. All of us went our separate ways and it got hard to see each other. Plus, I sort of became a recluse after Dad died.” 

“That’s a shame,” he says, somber and looking at his shoes. 

“Nah, it’s not,” you laugh a little. “They’re still some of the most important people in my life. I hope they’re happy and that they still have the drawings, even if they’re crumpled somewhere in a drawer or crammed into a notebook. If they think about us and the time we spent together even a little bit, that’s enough.” 

“Don’t you miss them?” 

“Oh god, so much,” you laugh. “I think about how badly I want to be with them every day. But they’re living their lives and I’m living mine and that’s alright. We can’t really go back, but even though we’ve lost touch, I’m sure that if I ever ran into any of them again, it would be like that time never passed. We’d be the same, just like we always were.” 

“That’s a nice thought.” 

“It’s the truth.”

"Can I have a headpat?" | Levi + Armin Headcanons

I was just thinking about my favorite characters giving me headpats and I had to write it okay. I was in dire need of fluff.

Is so confused.

Out of all the things you could ask for, why would you want him to pat your head?

He really doesn't understand why you want them so badly, but he can't stand the pitiful look that you send him, so he has no choice but to give in (he would never admit it, but he has a very hard time resisting you).

Not like he would have refused in the first place, though. Even if he isn't on the same page, he'll do whatever you ask as long as it makes you happy (and as long as it doesn't involve getting his clothes dirty).

He hesitantly hovers his hand above your head for a few moments before he lowers it. He waits a few more moments and then does it again. And again. All while he's carefully observing your facial expressions.

The minute a smile breaks out onto your face, Levi is patting your head to your heart's content. He still doesn't get what's so great about the gesture, but he starts to wonder if maybe it's just because he's the one giving them to you. The thought nearly brings a smile to his face.

Now he starts giving you headpats out of habit, if only to see that smile of yours again. Whether it's as a greeting or a way of saying job well-done, he gives you at least one gentle pat on the head whenever he has the chance.

It's a nice way for him to show that he cares without going overboard in public. He doesn't like PDA whatsoever, but giving you a pat on the head is acceptable. Plus, it not only makes you smile, but it leaves the other scouts smiling at the sight as well.

Levi starts to wonder what it is exactly that you like so much about headpats. If he can work up the courage, he might ask you to pat his head next. Perhaps he'll end up enjoying them, too.

Of course you can have some headpats!!! Armin is more than happy to give some to you <3

He's a little bit clueless about why you want headpats in particular, but he won't really question it. If it's something he can do for you that will make you happy, he will do it in a heartbeat.

He finds you so, so adorable when he's patting your head and you just close your eyes and smile. It's such a simple thing, but it makes his heart race in his chest and he just falls in love with you all over again😭

And the whole time he just has this huge, goofy smile on his face and Eren and the others never miss the chance to playfully tease him about it. It makes him blush, but he simply can't hold back his happiness when he's around you. Every day you give him so many reasons to smile.

Sometimes when you cuddle he'll also pat your head, and you always end up falling asleep not long afterwards. Which is perfect for Armin because it means he gets to admire how cute and peaceful you look nestled in his arms 💖

He finds headpats a great way to encourage you when you're struggling through something! Just a simple, "You can do it!" with a pat on the head is enough to motivate you to keep trying.

Sometimes he just pats your head when he walks by to let you know that he loves you and he's thinking about you, and it never fails to fluster you like crazy.

As much as Armin loves giving you headpats, he loves receiving them just as much. He's begun to understand why you're always asking for them. It's a soothing yet sweet gesture. No wonder they always manage to calm you down.

One of his favorite things is when he's snuggled up next to you and you reach your hand up to gently pat his head, encouraging him to get some rest. It's not long before he ends up drifting off, a faint smile ghosting his lips.

A knock on his door distracted Armin from his papers.

"Come in" he said, already aware of who it was.

Mikasa entered the room quietly, closing the door and resting against it.

"Good evening" he said, turning on his chair and facing her.

She did not reply, which was her usual behavior. Instead both remained frozen, waiting for the woman's next move. Armin had known her long enough to not elicit anything from her, she would speak when ready.

"Do you want some tea? The kettle is still warm enough" he offered, already expecting the 'no'.

"Why is he like that? Why?"

Armin sighed. It always came down to him lately. Always Eren, Eren, Eren. He was tired of it.

"I know" Armin replied, pouring tea in his empty mug.

"He thinks he's being so smart!" she said, louder than usual but still lower than others would.

"If only he was smart" Armin commented "we would not be here right now, discussing how stupid he is"

"Does he really think that treating us badly will lessen any pain?"

It was a rant. Armin learned that Mikasa rarely wanted an actual conversation when she was agitated. He calculated that maybe a few minutes of venting was needed before she was actually ready to listen to any sort of argumentative points.

"He was so unecessarily rude to Sasha and Connie today, and also all the times he just ignores us whenever we want to talk with him"

Eren's behavior towards his comrades was becoming acid by the day. A slow change, started by long periods of isolation and silence, followed by his volatile temper that often resulted in rude comments.

"I am still fucking pissed at what he told you last meeting, I've been trying to make him apologize-"

"He won't and I also don't want it" Armin interrupted "Besides, he owes you more apologies than I can count"

She stopped ranting. Maybe, just maybe, Armin's sudden loud voice caught her off guard. He sighed again, whenever he was mentioned Armin had a tendency to let his anger show.

"Sorry" he said "didn't mean to be loud"

"No" she said "you should"

She walked towards him, leaning against the table.

"Maybe be loud at him next time, he tells you all those things and you just take it"

Oh no, he did not, but if Armin genuinely exposes his emotions, he will loose control. Whenever Eren disrespected someone, but specially his sister, Armin feared the urge he felt to hurt his childhood friend. In multiple occasions he wanted nothing more than break Eren's face, even if he knew the result would be himself being the one hurt.

"There is no use in arguing with him. He thinks being loud and angry means he's right, and I don't argue with people like that"

"I should have punched harder" she whispered.

It was a remarkable punch, Armin recalled. She was never one to hurt someone for the smallest reasons, but Eren was a victim of her fist a few times due to his tendencies of being...selfcentered.

"Being hurt never worked with Eren Jaeger" Armin laughs bitterly "sometimes I think he enjoys it"

"Something is wrong with him"

Armin did not have an answer. Eren was acting strange and nobody knew exactly why.

"if he is trying to push us away" Armin replied "the plan is working, I can't stand looking at him sometimes"

"He is still Eren, we can't just let him wander away"

"He is not the friend we supported all this time. Whoever that man is, he supressed the one we knew" Armin said.

"Can we speak?" the blond's voice was low.

He found Eren in one of the training squares rather early in the morning. The blond was preparing to pick his personal mail up in the city when he saw what was once his close friend. Eren did not aknowledge Armin, which was becoming usual of him.

"Mikasa is worried" Armin said again.

"Tell her to stop then" he replied.

"Meaningless answer, as always" Armin whispered loud enough so Eren could hear "I'll be quick. I'll tolerate your unreasonable behavior, but I won't tolerate if you direct it to Mikasa. Pretend to be civil around her and suck up whatever stupid shit goes in your head"

"So mean" Eren's voice was full of scorn.

Armin did not indulge him, knowing well how Eren communicated.

"I'm serious" Armin said "no amount of ackerbond will fix things if she lets you go, and I will support her if she decides to leave you"

"She can't do it, even if she wanted to. She is enslaved to this shit"

"Not for much longer, I hope. Our time is near, and yours is very close"

Armin would later regret his last sentence, knowing full well how Eren was still hurt over the 13-year limit. Unfortunately, Armin wanted to cause pain, he wanted to hurt Eren. It was horrible of him to do so, but he was hurting the same.

The blonde genuinely thought his conversation with Eren, if you could call it a conversation, did not work. He was convinced Eren would just ignore what Armin said, until he saw Eren speaking with her during dinner. He could not understand what they spoke off, both sitting in a distant table.

"Do you think he is apologizing?" Sasha asked Armin.

The two siblings were never known for having deep conversations. That was something they came to Armin for, but never to one another, prefering to use some sort of silent agreement. Armin could see some words being exchanged though.

"Probably not" the blond said "he was never good at it before all of this"

"He better" Jean said "I'm done with him making you and Mikasa walk on eggshells whenever he is near"

"Jean, leave it" Armin warned "let me and Mikasa handle it"

"He needs help" Sasha said "something is wrong and he is not well"

"I know, Sasha, but he makes it very difficult"

And I am too angry all the time to actually try, Armin bitterly thought.

"We need to talk"

Armin was very surprised. For months Eren never seeked Armin to talk, specially in private. To see the taller man on his door, eyes on the ground and anxious feet, was a sight to behold.

Now you wanna talk, Armin almost said.

Instead, the blond only motioned for him to enter and close the door. Armin turned back to his papers, not facing the other man. Eren had lost the right to speak to him face to face a while ago.

"Speak" he said.

Eren remained silent for a few minutes, long enough that the blonde wondered if he left the room.

"You were never like this" Eren said "angry"

"I'm not angry" Armin shot back a bit too fast.

Eren's laugh was bitter.

"I felt anger my entire life, Armin, you can't fool me on this" he said "you are angry, very angry"

"Do you even have a point with this?" Armin said.

"See? This is what I'm talking about"

Armin stood up quickly, pressing his knuckles on the table to hold his temper.

"Do you expect me to be happy or neutral about all of this? to not be livid at you?"

"I don't expect anything from anyone, I just..."

"Just what? My patience is running thin, Eren"

"None of you will ever understand what I see, what I dream about"

"Because you never cared to explain!" Armin turned to face Eren, voice already rising "You go around sulking, isolating yourself, acting strange out of nowehere. Of course we won't understand what you don't explain!"

"If I explain you will hate me!" Eren yelled.

"What makes you think I don't hate you already?"

Silence filled Armin's room. The blond was already regretting his words, but again, we was hurt, he wanted to hurt.

"You don't. Mikasa doesn't either" Eren said "You wouldn't spare me a thought if you did"

"Don't worry, it won't take too long if you keep the stupid behavior"

"It's easier this way, and you will understand that later. I promise"

The taller man turned to leave the blond's room, but before he could even open the door, Armin spoke.

"Eren"

He looked back at Armin, waiting.

🌈is there a fic that you worked *really fucking hard on* that no one would ever know? maybe a scene/theme you struggled with? Recently I've posted everything I've written, so... there's nothing nobody won't know. However I did struggle with that whole bonfire dancing scene in TFLM.

🦋what are you most insecure about when you post a fic? Since I'm currently only writing AruAni, I feel like making Armin smart is a really fucking hard job xD For his character development, I need him to use his stellar brains, but that means I gotta make him use his stellar brains... and... T^T yeah, I worry a lot that readers will find what ultimately happens sounds silly/not clever enough.

🌿how does creating make you feel? VERY satisfied! Incredibly so! Makes me happy to write and post and share what I've created with people :3

🍉in what ways has writing helped you process trauma and/or navigate through your own life? My fics are all a representation of things I want in my life, both the big and small. For example, in Chap 3 of VBEOW, Armin and Annie share hot chocolate in the kitchen in the early hours of the morning; that kind of comfortable intimacy and quiet shared space is something I also crave. Another example is in the very first part of the series where Annie gets Armin to cry and grieve - it's a reflection of the fact that I too want to care for someone in that kind of way. xD This is prolly TMI xD Sorry xD

🎈describe your style as a writer; is it fixed? does it change? I'm really not sure xD I think it's mostly consistent thus far (?)

💝what is a fic that got a different response than you were expecting? I believe Falling into Neptune was received better than I expected. I hadn't written anything that intense in a very long time, so I was pleasantly surprised when it got a hotter reaction than I was expecting. It made me realize I can create tension without making the characters take off their clothes -- a fact I am a bit proud of T^T Sorry.

🤍what's one fic of yours you think people didn't "get"? Hmmm. So Time Falls like Moonlight is a mammoth of a story to get through, but I put a whole lot of thematic depiction in this (it literally has 10+ scenes) and maybe it is the fact that it's very long and also that it's got a sequel already going on, so it feels like people have glossed over it. But oh well xD I'm happy with the reactions I have received :3

💥find your least kudos'd fic - say something wonderful about it. The Lamplighter, Tokyo Ghoul. A fic about the relationship between Amon and his foster father Donato, with a slightly supernatural/fantasy twist, but still remains true to canon. It has very little kudos or interaction but I expected that, because people usually come to read romantic pairing fics and this is strictly a father-son fic. I still really like it though, it's probably badly written for the me of today's POV, but it's got a special place in my heart xD

🎙️which one of your fics would you like someone to make a pod-fic of? O_O Oh.. uh...that's a thing? xD I totally didn't know! But what works for a pod-fic tho? Dialogue heavy fics? Action/emotional monologue heavy fics? Maybe everything works? In which case... anything really T_T I'd be over the moon (pun intended)

💋when you leave comments on a fic, do you want to hear back from the writer? If they want to reply back, sure! Most of them do these days, tho there are fics I've left comments on recently which were written one or two years ago, and the authors are prolly busy with their lives. But I'm always happy to read their replies, no matter when that is :3!

"Are you not feeling… uh, want to go back?" "No," Pieck hums softly. She raises her cupped palm up. "Need to shampoo my hair but I'm feeling a little too tired." Annie lets her eyes roam over her deflated frame. Pieck, always buoyant and carefree, now limp and lifeless, and she’s never seen her like this before.
