#i want to play the unseelie queen and the seelie queen and solitary fae

my cos campaign is not even close to done and i need to finish it and get strahd out of my system BUT.... feywild homebrew campaign next i am promising it to myself as a treat

Seelie and unseelie court ~aesthetic~ you ask? Sure! I know the standard interpretation is that the 'good' fairies are seelie court and the 'bad' ones are unseelie. But I've always interpreted it as their mode of organization. The seelie court being more of an actual court, with internal communication, ranks, royalty, strict rules and the like, while the unseelie court are the 'free agents', kelpies, brownies, pooka and various malicious spirits. Unseelie are more unpredictable and don't follow the strict rules and codes of the seelie court that closely. They're probably more involved with the students and more likely to get in conflict, making them seem more 'evil'. But really all Fae are tricksters and if you somehow do manage to piss of a Fairy of the seelie court you're not just dealing with one mad entity anymore, the whole court will turn their eyes on you. I'd see it sort of like the difference between solitary bees and the ones organized in hives. They look a lot alike and are difficult to tell apart one on one. Both can sting if you piss them off, but with the seelie court comes the risk of the whole swarm coming after you. No Fae is really all 'good' or 'bad', one is just significantly more dangerous to mess with than the other. (3/3)

Also, if I had to guess Jimothy is unseelie, so are the kelpies and brownies and possible bridgetrolls. And the wyrm, if you really want to classify them all. Anna Monday probably, or she/they are Other. The Rose prince and Foxy lady are seelie, so the the Queen, of course. Changelings are hard to place, not fully seelie I'd say, but maybe recruited by/in contact with them? Eavesdroppers are probably seelie, but very low ranking. That or it's just the Crows playing pranks (4/3)
