sorry for ocs two days in a row have some babies from an adult's life time ago (aka 2005 I believe? is when I made them?)

#my characters #this plot was literally too many characters and so it basically become multiple plots #based on who it was the focus but it was all one cohesive .... mess. p much.#and if anyone cares the top two with black eyes are two thirds of triplets and technically very much side characters #the other one that i didnt even draw is part of the more main group lmao #and then the blonde girl judging the pink haired girls comment has a crush on the triplet i didnt draw but she scares him rip #white haired guy on the bottom who got threatened is honestly one of the funniest concepts i have imo #hes just a guy BUT hes also unlucky through life and so he walks into a fortune teller shop one day hoping to stop being unlucky #but when hes there he accidentally knocks a crystal ball on the floor that wasnt being used but was on display #and oops it had five souls in it and now they need a home so they take his body and can take control of it when they want #so hes got himself and five others trying to control his body which is really funny to me #he doesnt even HAVE a super power or strength like the others in the cast hes just a dude hosting five other souls its fine

With all the gross hate that Anairis is suffering from the losers on X/Twitter combined with the announcement of Lycoris Recoil creating an original short film, I sincerely hoped to see more of Erika not only because she’s cute but also because asides from the lead girlies and Cafe LycoReco crew, she was one of few side characters that I liked.

Sorry just looking back at it, I really do think G3 sacrificed having good fashion in order to have good character design. Which like, if it was just the cartoons they were rebooting, then like sure. But all I'm saying if any other doll brand in the year of our lord 2023/2022 come out with tye-die shorts with frills we would have laughed them off the market but it's Monster High so it's fine

I think it succeeds a lot at times, for example, no matter how much I don't like G3 Clawdeen, not gonna lie, they really got that 'quirky protag girl' vibe incredibly well with her. Or how the G3 Werecat Twins personalities show so strongly though their designs, but dear god WTF is Meowlody wearing.

But on the other hand it's not like good character design and fashion are antithetical to each other. Like not only was this the reason G1 Monster High got so popular (that and it's gothicism) but G3 HAS put out nice looking fashion pieces before!

#Also it's not as related to the tangent #but the styles of the individual ghouls have become so much more... homogenized?#Like I don't think it's consistent for all of G1 but most of the main cast had strong personal styles #Frankie was alt prep Lagoona dressed casually with a -surf crush- influence #Draculaura was Lolita-adjecent and just overall very dated #Clawdeen wore a mix of rock fashion and statement pieces #Operetta was a rockabilly Ghoulia base doll was heavily scene then followed by a consistent 60s look #Robecca was steampunk Rochelle dressed like an emo Parisian chic.#But the only characters I'll say have a clear distnct style in G3 is Frankie and Drac #the rest of the main cast have been reduced to mostly motif patterns.#Like Clawdeen's and Cleo's Fearidescent outfits have almost identical construction.#idk maybe I'm judging too early for G3 a bit with this one #they generally seem to be improving the designs #and perhaps when they finally venture out of the main cast the personal style of the rest of supporting cast will show #monster high #Monster High G1 #Monster High G3 #my post #rambles #ohh boy here comes a bunch of tags #normally I don't tag posts like this but I want someone else to chime in on what they think about the fashion of G3 and G1 #IDK I've gotten more into contemporary fashion history and fashion as a whole and it's made me a lot more appreciative of G1

on my first read of tsh, my favorite sections were the dreams because... dreams, but on my like 8th (idk on how many i am now) its the funeral because god-fucking-damn it is it cool to see these fucks suffer.

#like i think the funeral is what boosts tsh from pastiche of classicism to a modern novel #about actual life #because you knows the characters are at their most terrible. all of them.#the main cast and the ensemble as well. are just an echo of how fucking empty and ugly and useless the world is.#and it's not really because of guilt or death. in actuality it feels quite contradictory #that after a section complaining about how ugly the life of shady brook ct is richard questions why he killed bunny out of it #like a classical hero would see that as a positive frankly #but not richard because tsh to its core is not classical #it's both a religious novel and a modern novel #the funeral thematically is what grounds the book into modern discourse about beauty and life #and that's why i think it's really fucking funny that richard hooked up with bunny's ex crush at the funeral amen

Playing around some more and retired Enid so I could get them fist skills again. GOOD GOD they have the highest attack stat in the guild 💀 (670) but they don't hit very hard (didn't sub a Z or G). Just got Kikoken and Darkness fist. Mainly so they can cast ailments.

chuunin arc tenten has a crush on neji but obviously that doesnt go anywhere. she also realizes that his cool demeanor is just incredibly dense trauma and baggage and also hes a huge dork and she cares deeply about him platonically instead. but then years later neji gets a crush on tenten because lbr shes cool as fuck with her weapon precision and confidence but tenten just keeps bro-ing him and that doesnt go anywhere either and neji just sighs sadly about it. in a humorous way. he simultaneously has a crush on lee but that goes way over lees head. who also bros him. and lee has this weird Thing with gaara. basically neji is a lovelorn maiden swooing over his teammates for my amusement.

after writing 24k words in 7 days this past month, I think I need a serious break. I hope to spend time in December doing some research and prep work so I can finally write the Takeru chapter of "Somewhere Only We Know" when Camp Digimonth starts up in January. I feel bad that it's been 6 months since I've updated that story, and that I've been focusing on so many other projects. I've really enjoyed writing those other stories though, don't get me wrong.

Of course I say I need a break and then I have this IDEA that won't leave me alone
