Aqours: 3rd Solo Concert Image Songs So Far + Predictions

(Ruby is due to be previewed soon, so I'll update when it does get released).

It's only September...and already, I'm starting to see Lantis running out of ideas (composition and arrangement-wise).

First off, Chika's newest image song is utter perfection. The preview alone is promising as hell (and I cannot wait to listen to all the image songs this month). Anchan finally gets to pull off a ballad after dealing with three broadway/jazz tracks back to back.

As for Riko...well, this is where I want to vent for a bit, because I feel like Lantis fucking shafted her again with another generic j-pop/rock arrangement. Some of you probably want to retaliate, but unless you were listening to Rikako Aida's whole discography for the past two years, Riko's new image song is literally not anything new, if not, just a damn shame. (OF COURSE, MUSIC, NOWADAYS, IS A HIT OR MISS).

In fact, I've been pissed off at Lantis and the LL staff for shafting Riko over PURE PHRASE (which was a decent balladesque contemporary tune), but a few fans wanted another fucking Pianoforte Monologue at that time. Love Spiral Tower had promising vibes (had it not been for the fact I kept being reminded of Fiction).

And now, the staff just...FOR GOD'S SAKE GIVE RIKO A FUCKING BREAK AND LET HER REDEEM HERSELF WITH A MEMORABLE IMAGE SONG.

So far, Ruby has been all over the place with her music.

RED GEM WINK was a jpop; cute and hard to sing.

Cotton Candy Ei-Ei-Oh has become a viral meme with the dance only skyrocketing is popularity for a denpa style.

1STAR wants to put me in a crying lullaby fit.

Prediction: You might as well give her the city pop treatment now, Lantis. Purple One Star ain't gonna let you get away with it. (Meanwhile, I'm waiting over here hoping to God for that to become reality).

Dia started out with nothing but jpop, migrated to EDM/House music and became DJ Dia.

Prediction: Too bad she's overdue for a ballad...although, can Arisha pull it off? She still hasn't announced the idea of going solo; then again, DJ is fine.

Kanan is...what is Kanan doing again?

SA-KA-NA-KA-NA-N-DA-KA is jazz or whatever that was...

Motto ne! is jpopish

RUN KAKERU RUN is whatever you want to interpret.

Prediction: I have a bad feeling about this (a la Strawberry Egoist; maybe a tsundere turn where she talks about being Mari and only Mari's love).

More Kinchan with a guitar?? OOH!! WE GOING BACK TO COUNTRY AGAIN?

Oyasuminasan is still a great song.

Akogare Ranraran has a great MV featuring rotoscope.

Yaa! Kouunryuusui!? has Kinchan with a guitar and I want to see this badly.

Prediction: We going back to indie folk?? Indie folk Hanamaru, I hope.

There's no saving Yousoro.

Prediction: FOLK BALLAD, confessing her love to Chika. (I'm sorry my ChikaYou bias is showing).

Mari is another one with variety.

New winding road was country pop (or I have no clue wtf they were pulling).

Shiny Racers (this is what you get for being in Guilty Kiss).

Love is all, I sing love is all! is just Ainyan being a showoff with her vocals (in a positive note).

Prediction: Now, can we please tone back and have her do enka or folk to show off Ainyan's native Chitose roots? or will you pull that same stunt similar to one of her songs from ring A ring??

Last, but not least: Yohane.

Prediction: Yet to hear a ballad or a J-Rock from her...surprise me, I guess. Aikyan never failed me before. (forgets about Tatehoko Tsubasa)

Jimin sighed dreamily as he stared at the picture of you on the wall, dainty fingers stroking your smiling lips with great longing and affection. He’d just re-watched your recent concert for the fourth time in a row now, but it felt as if time had passed by so fast since he last saw you.

Indeed, how long has it been since he saw you again? Three days? Four days? He needed more content, more shows to devour because he’d basically memorized your entire words and gestures in every program you appeared. It was easy to do that since you weren’t a particularly famous singer, anyway, and thus, got fewer invitations.

But still, it wasn’t enough. It’d never be enough for him. He wanted – no, needed – more. More of your expressions, more of your smiles, more of your accidental glances, and more of you. He wanted you to look at him like your poster looked at him. He wanted you to smile at him as your poster smiled at him. And he wanted you to wink at him as your photo winked at him in the CD jacket.

He could remember vividly how happy you looked at the concert. The glitters in your eyes that reminded him of stars, your wide beam that illuminated the entire stadium like the gracious sun, and the glowing aura that made you appear more angelic under the stage lamps. You wore a preppy dress that reflected your upbeat songs, complemented with expressive movements to enrich the already splendid performance. You rounded the stage to greet your fans and occasionally touched their flailing hands, a friendly gesture that had provoked Jimin like fire to the gasoline.

They already saw your dazzling face, and now, they got to feel your skin too? How lucky could they be?! It was unfair how they were able to spend an hour with you, cheering for you until their throats bleed, while he had to suffer through some boring meeting.

Jimin had never hated his job more than now, because what was the use of having a high position if he couldn’t even visit his beloved? Didn’t they know that you rarely held concerts?

Obviously, they didn’t care about you more than him, which was why he decided to bring you to him instead. He had all the wealth in the world, and he could easily pay double your performance.

Or your company, he didn’t care which. What mattered was that you were finally with him now, away from the people who would separate you both. You didn’t have to worry about being stalked anymore, because Jimin would personally protect you. He’d shoot anyone who dared to make his soulmate uncomfortable, and he might even let you hold the gun if you so wished. Any extra physical contact was preferable, but he wouldn’t mind it if you refused.

He knew that not everyone could handle real-life violence, especially if it ended with death.

For once, Jimin was able to use his job for good, and the thought alone made him feel strangely giddy.

Kindness was something that he used to be pretty indifferent to until now. His job wasn’t exactly virtuous, to begin with, and his parents had never really drilled the importance of compassion beyond the necessary civility. Why should it matter when he was born to replace his father as a Mafia boss? Why should he listen to the words of strangers that held zero significance for his organization?

Regardless, Jimin wasn’t a psychopath, even if his killing method was often coldblooded. He’d just never met anyone worthy of his ‘kindness’ until you came and changed everything. Even Jimin himself wasn’t sure how it’d happened, but he didn’t complain.

It was about time he had a lover, anyway.

A man clad in an impeccable suit appeared in the threshold of his room and bowed. 

“Sir, the woman has been brought inside,” he reported with as much respect as he could muster. Ever since Jimin ‘fell in love’ with you, he’d become a bit more volatile and dreamy. It was a nightmare for his subordinates who didn’t know how to predict his moods, and in return, made them work even harder. The man hoped that with your presence, you could help Jimin rein his emotions and be more lenient towards them.

Never mind that he’d abducted you in the middle of the night. It wasn’t as if this was the first time he’d done that, anyway. When you worked under a criminal for too long, you were bound to get desensitized to things that would normally appall ordinary folks.

How could he bring himself to care, though? The payment was superb, and he couldn’t afford to jeopardize his position just because his boss was infatuated with a second-rate singer.

Not that he’d tell him that, though.

As expected, Jimin's eyes lit up like a child at Christmas. It almost disgusted the man how he quickly bounded towards him and stared with those glittering irises. If Jimin was a dog, his tail would surely be shaking like crazy now.

“Really?! So, where is she now?” As quick as his expression brightened, it darkened immensely. “You didn’t hurt her, right? If I see a slight bruise on my baby, I swear I’ll…”

The man silently gulped at the abrupt transition and willed himself not to think about the threat. “N-no, Sir. I assure you that she’s fine. She’s currently waiting in one of the main rooms. A-allow me to take you there, Sir.”

It felt as if time had frozen and the man was stuck in Jimin’s room, unable to move or look back as his leader coolly regarded him. He was skeptical, the man knew that much, but nothing could beat physical evidence.

Straightening his back, Jimin beamed up to him. Stars replaced some of the cold glints in his beady eyes, but the man couldn’t help but thought that they looked scarier.

Jimin appeared positively radiant, and the man wondered how long this would continue or if he’d made the right decision to take you at all.

“Well, what’re we waiting for? Lead the way!”
