Welcome, one and all, to the 7th Annual Tickle Fandom Bloggers Squealing Santa Extravaganza!

This year's humble host for 2022 is @hypahticklish - I am so excited to carry the torch, as well as compile the archive of seasons past. I'm also beyond excited to invite our artist friends to partake in this year's festivities!! This is my first year organizing the event and I cannot wait to see all the magic our corner of tumblr is able to create.

But enough of my shmoozing - let's get on to the main event! Here are the rules that most of you know so very well (with some tweaks for our new additions):

In order to get a peice of tickle fiction or art, you must be willing to create a new peice of tickle fiction or art for someone else.

Fics should be at least 250 words (if that sounds like a lot, don’t worry, it’s only about a page double-spaced). There is no limit if you'd like to write more!

Art should have clean, finished line art (if traditional, drawn on unlined paper and well-lit upload). There is no limit if you'd like to color or stylize more!

Works should be based on prompts given by the person you are creating for.

When you sign up, include 1-5 loose prompts - can be as simple as a fandom, a pairing, a character, a scenario, or a combination of those things (Examples of loose prompts can be found here).

Once sign-ups end, we’ll send out assignments and you’ll have until December 31st to finish your piece and send it to the person you’re creating for. In turn, your writer or artist will post a piece for you also by the end of December! No one will know who is working on whose prompts until the works are published, because surprises are fun!

Please note that the registration is conducted via Google Forms. While we have turned all email requirements off, there's still a chance it will autofill that information if you're logged in. We'd definitely recommend filling out the survey using incognito mode just in case for that reason. Should any emails be submitted accidentally, they will not be utilized or released.

IF YOU ARE ANON: you still must include a tumblr url that we can contact you at. We promise we won’t give it out to anyone; we just will need a way to contact you over the course of the exchange!

Usually my Big Art Project Of The Month is a drawing of some sort. But for October I decided to branch out and try my hand at book binding.

For this I chose not just my favorite favfic, but my favorite peices of written lit ever. Dirty Laundry by @popatochisssp

Honestly, I had a lot of fun with the formatting and changing the fonts. Sure, it was tedious at times. (Transferring the pdf to word messed up the formatting in places) And it was a great excuse to reread the fic all over again.

I really enjoyed this project. There was something really relaxing about sewing the signatures together. I don't think this will be my last time bookbinding.

Ayo beach episode?

ITS COMING OUT! I’m like…seriously more than 3/4th of the way done. I actually took a break from writing rn to answer this!

I try to balance college and all the perks of being an adult with writing and it always seems to never work out.

I get sidetracked and work on either drawings or other stories completely because I just feel like having a refresher. Writing is more of a hobby for me so I don’t try to get it out asap. (BUT BOY DO I WISH I COULD LOL)

Especially the Bends story too. It’s like over 15k words rn and still growing bc that one is so dramatic and stupid I just don’t have the energy to write about Billy acting a fool most days.

Also blame my partner for half of this because he gets greedy and wants me to write things for him (sorry Wayne)

ALSO I’ll try to give you some hope because I am VERY VERY stubborn and will ALWAYS post ANY peice of art i spent more than 30 minutes on. So all writing WILL BE FINALIZED AND PUBLISHED LOL !! I will never abandon a fic. And I actively better them weekly. (Ie I add shit or I make sure there’s no grammar mistakes so on.)

But lastly I’d like to add, I think it’s super sweet n cool at least one of you guys actually actively think about my dumb writing lol.

1 . How did you get into writing fanfiction?

i've always thought up little scenarios in my head for whstever blorbos i was obsessed with, but actually writing it down didn't happen until i was in college! i joined a new fandom at the time (miraculous ladybug) and was so inspired by all the art and fic other people were making that i started writing fanfic (and drawing fanart!) in earnest :>

according to ao3, 12. but i have a lot of unfinished or unposted works from other fandoms, so the number is even higher than that though i'm not sure by how much

since the tail-end of 2015! so almost 9 years!

4. Do you read or write more fanfiction?

i write more than i read these days, but i'd love to get into reading more fanfic again sometime

5. What is one way you’ve improved as a writer?

i don't usually research things for my fanfics i just wing it

comments where the reader says that they come back to reread the fic every now and again 🥺🥺 i've only received a couple of comments that are like that in my time writing, but they're the ones i love the most. just so sweet ooogh

8. What’s the most fringe trope/topic you write about

well i havent done it in years. i don't know if it still exists somewhere here on the internet, but there was a donkey x shrek fic, once upon a time......... other than that, my fucles fic from like 2016/2017 whenever that was. so i guess you could say i love taking a Weird Ship(tm) and writing deeply unserious fic about it

9. What is the hardest type of story for you to write?

smut for me too! i have so many wips that include smut scenes that are all stuck right at the smut parts because i can't write it for the life of me. it feels so stiff and choppy and unnatural and too-detailed. but im working on it! :3

10. What is the easiest type?

i love expanding on canon. for example in astoria there's a throw-away comment about mc having what's implied to be a sex dream! so a fic i'm working on is The Dream(tm). i love filling in the missing peices! that, or i love love LOVE writing what-if fics. what if sydney was strigoi and adrian chased after her. what if alya was ladybug and in love with marinette. what if mc replaced a goddess against her will. i like exploring every potentiality and possibility!

11. Where do you do your writing? What platform? When?

in my bed if i'm at home, otherwise wherever i am on my phone. i write in tumblr drafts. terrible habit, i know, but alas. whenever i have the time and motivation lol.

12. What is something you’ve been too nervous/intimidated to write, but would love to write one day?

smut :( it makes me so nervous to write, that's why it's also the hardest one for me 😭 even if i do write a scene out i get too embarrassed to share it or even ask for a friend to read it over.

13. What made you choose your username?

had a few nicknames on deviantart back in the day, among them "megatron" and "raven". at the time i was searching for a new url and one of my friends mashed the two nicknames together to create "megatraven" and that's been my Brand(tm) ever since!

It’s nothing complicated, honestly! I sketch out a very rough idea of what I want to draw, then line it as loosely and smoothly as I can manage, add flat colors on another layer, shadows on a multiply layer clipped on the flats one, and then adjust the light/intesity of the colors with a airbrush tool on an overlay layer - it’s really the simplest process known to human artist hahaha I posted a step by step on my patreon at some point, but maybe one day I’ll find a way to make a process video and show you guys how I do it.................... maybe if I’ll ever get to buy an ipad, that’d make my life easier

Thank you so much! I use easy pain tool sai, which is the easiest, most simple program I could find since I’m easily overwhelmed by too complicated things lol it’s got its shortcomings but it works perfectly for the little I have to do :D

It’s not like I don’t want to, it’s just that there’s very little to it I could actually make a tutorial about? I try to keep my sketches vague and simple to not trap myself in the need to make the line look exactly identical to the sketch, and I try to keep my lines as long and uninterrupted as possible, let my hand kind of go the way it feels most comfortable to it if that makes sense, and I use ctrl+z A Lot to be sure the line flows the way I want it to in the direction I want it to go, and that’s honestly all there is to it! It’s not really about technique as much as it is about letting yourself keep as loose and fast as possible while putting down the lines, I really have no idea how else to explain it I’m sorry m(._.)m

So I had heard some defending drawings of Germany with the iron cross saying it wasn’t necessarily a hate symbol- and while it still made me uncomfortable personally, I had, at first accepted that explanation from what seemed like reputable sources. However I did a little more research because I felt like I should and uh… yeah y’all, theres very good reason you actually really shouldn’t use it.

“The Iron Cross is a famous German military medal dating back to the 19th century. During the 1930s, the Nazi regime in Germany superimposed a swastika on the traditional medal, turning it into a Nazi symbol. After World War II, the medal was discontinued but neo-Nazis and other white supremacists subsequently adopted it as a hate symbol and it has been a commonly-used hate symbol ever since….

In the United States, however, the Iron Cross also became one of several Nazi-era symbols adopted by outlaw bikers, more to signify rebellion or to shock than for any white supremacist ideology. By the early 2000s, this other use of the Iron Cross had spread from bikers to skateboarders and many extreme sports enthusiasts and became part of the logo of several different companies producing equipment and clothing for this audience. Consequently, the use of the Iron Cross in a non-racist context has greatly proliferated in the United States, to the point that an Iron Cross in isolation (i.e., without a superimposed swastika or without other accompanying hate symbols) cannot be determined to be a hate symbol. Care must therefore be used to correctly interpret this symbol in whatever context in which it may be found.”

So yes, that info being spread- while technically the iron cross was simply a military medal and originally was not a hate symbol, (I mean recall that the swastika itself was not originally a hate symbol but we all know and understand that it is now with historical and modern context) and in the US it has been used out of that context with biker culture mostly (but even then they were using it to be shocking due to where it’d be recognized from)- that information was missing part of the story and context.

It can be difficult to determine why it may be appearing in a peice of media. So I’m not going to blame you for any confusion or assume your a horrible person if you’ve drawn it on Germany before- Its shady enough I don’t know for sure if it was Hima’s intention either.

However knowing this info now, I think it would be better to not depict it in art or bring up the moment of Germany giving Italy an iron cross in fics for 1. To ensure there’s no way anyone could mistake or think of your art in a nazi or white supremacist context when that isn’t your intention. 2. Ensure younger and uninformed people don’t miss a red flag if they see the iron cross symbol IRL. 3. Don’t end up like me who blindly accepted “this is probably fine”’without looking into it for way too long 4. Just out of decency and respect for the groups most affected by the genocide of the Holocaust.

This fandom may never loose it’s awful reputation, and elements of the show/manga in its beginning don’t help, but we can at least make sure we share and spread information to make sure none of the horrible ignorance and hate gains a footing in it again.

Don’t go flaming or attacking people that have drawn the iron cross, it’s likely out of ignorance, so share this article or this post to make sure their informed before drawing any conclusions.

There’s plenty of other outfits and accessories to draw Germany in, and official art hasn’t included a lot of these elements for a while either. So let’s move forward and learn!

Warm ups! Uh… I mostly was getting down layouts for the houses, since they’re pretty prominent in the comic going forward (Henry’s inparticular, and his house is two stories). Some random William and Elizabeth to round it out. I also did a small layout for Fredbear’s Family Diner, which I can’t remember if I just had in sketches IRL or actually posted before. But it’s good to ‘have them all in one place’, innit? Oh, and my handwriting is terrible.. haha I only plan to use it for one scene in the comic, though.

Uh, what else… I am going to work on page 19 of the comic today and the first part of Chapter 2 goes up Tuesday, which is like page 7 or something. I’ve mostly been working on trying to finish some big art peices before the end of the year (I will be moving all the editable files to back up storage places to clear out space on my pc soon).

Our New Year’s trip is cancelled, which, honestly I’m fine with. I’ve started reading the Fazbear Frights books (I finally finished Into The Pit and I’ve been dying to draw art for it. Hell, I may illustrate it at some point for funsies). All in preperation for Blackbird, since I really wanna read the leaked content for myself. I’ll also be ordering the Animorphs GN Vol 1 and the FNAF Coloring Book with some of my Christmas money.

As far as writing goes I have completed the main fic through the end of FNAF 3 and I’m working on finishing the PizzaSim section before starting the real ending I’m working on (which, sort of, keeps everything canonical and again, I think you all will enjoy it). Alongside this I’m working on my Henry time travel AU which will be going up once Resurrection Seeker is done.

My wife and I have been also discussing alot of little funny FNAF short comics we wanna make, but I’ll update as those come along.

I think that’s everything outside the fact my wife and I have not found any time to record for the YT channel I wanna start and we didn’t even get to record our building the Salvage Room and Mangle Vent Repair sets.

And as I’m writing this my friend surprised us with these:

It’s gonna be a few videos, it looks like! :V I hope we get Vanny, Roxanne, or Chica! …I also really want all the PizzaSim sets now. I should try and find the showstage before it gets super pricey. =:3 A shame there isn’t a Glitchtrap in these sets. I’m not sure if there’s any exclusives, but my friend nabbed these from Gamestop, so maybe?

So so far we’ve only have about two entrees total for the contest with 11 days remaining before we close it. Some people are allegedly still working on submissions, however I’ve had several people ask to submit fanfics. Initially I was reluctant, because I did not want to have to judge between art and story, but in order for the contest to be...well...a contest, we do need more entrees than prizes. 2nd place prize winner, aka the ‘runner up’ with receive a flats drawing of their own Zootpia OC in the style of the ‘LAW’ story character cards and a thank you.

And the grand prize winner will not only receive the runner up prize, but their character will get a modest sized speaking role in an upcoming chapter in ‘LAW’. The back and forth conversation may be from a half a page to a page long or longer depending on how it goes, but we we’ll have to work together in order to finalize the lines. What your character gets to say is up to you within reason, but I also reserve the right to veto/omit things i feel won’t fit. Here’s the scene.

“Dawn and Vernon are forced to help run the family stand with Audrey. While things start out slow, with no real customers showing up. Slowly, various curious fair-goers approach the stand one by one, asking Dawn or Vernon questions about how their relationship works. Eventually the one or two mammals asking questions turns into a busy gaggle, swarming them with all sorts of questions about their lives.” Your character would be one of the first few to approach, and stay for a while. Asking questions of either Dawn or Vernon depending is your character is male/female pred/prey. They would give their name at some point.

I would have considered more prize levels, but I’m not sure how big this will be…so I figured two was a safe bet. I mean, a lot of people have read the story, but I can’t imagine I’m going to get hundreds of entrees.

The contest opens officially today, and will run until 12:00AM EST on July 31st, 2017. And winners will be announced shortly after in August. The chapter in question will most likely see a release in September, but we’ll see.

asian culture is like that. the older you are the more golden you are 🙄 and that is so bullshit. call me impolite but i won’t take it silently if someone is unreasonably mean to me. it’s most likely because you really enjoy it! writing for me took some time too but i went on with it because i genuinely enjoyed it ✨ i guess we circle back to: you can’t learn something if you’re not interested in it. i think your art works are really great though 🌈 and i hope you get to stay with it long too! both writing and drawing are very exquisite art forms and i love them both! it’s fascinating to read and to admire drawings 😌 like sometimes you wonder how the process goes and it’s just 🤩 (2/4)

i don’t think rambling is a bad thing because i tend to ramble a little too. i do dialogues but i make sure to add key points-ish in between to make sure the readers can resonate with the feelings of the characters more. so rambling is actually okay ✨ and there is something really great about fics without dialogues. you get to describe more the area, character’s feelings, atmosphere and ambiance and all that. if you can write it well, it will actually be so great. it’s hard though 😵 (3/4)

i had a creative class during my last year of high school and my teacher was… eh she was fine. i just really liked the projects because they let me write and also it’s basically a free period class. and i can say the same to you! the way you speak sounds really mature (without the keyboard smashes, of course 🤣) and i’m sure your writing will be too! i guess i am, a little? just don’t hold too high of an expectation off -🦊 (4/4)

behavior shouldn’t be excused by age; it’s kinda bullshit that wisdom always comes with age 🥴 knowledge definitely does come with experience typically, but just bc soneone’s wrinkly doesn’t mean they’re a saint 😶 and ya, keeping up with things that don’t peak your intrest is just,,, too much work for not a good enough outcome.

thank you! and i agree, art is definitely a process and it’s interesting to think about what exactly the thought process was for certain peices. and there’s just something truly lovely about artwork, of any form, that’s been well done.

i just worry about sounding too long-winded or rambling and realizing that it was a rabbit trail and almost uh, useless? like it doesn’t contribute to the overall plot 🤷‍♀️but i’ve never minded it in others’ works so it’s just something i’m self-critical on lmao. and there’s so many different things to be done in writing, it’s just difficult for them to be done well🤭

oof i can relate to that free period aspect 🤧 but the grading was just really inconsistent and it became p frustrating. i could probably turn in the same assignment and would receive drastically different grades depending on what mood he was in. (and he didn’t understand certain words i would use and would mark me down for them?? idk 🙃) and ya, i do tend to key smash a lot lol it’s like an impulse at this point. it’s actually a fairly recent habit i picked up🤔 and honestly? we are our own worst critics.

I have a summer / beach themed Willry drawing I promise I’ll post for you guys. Probably will be a lot of sketches (composition) and a final peice that’s kinda whimsical. Like... playful/cute? Like you see those anime girls on posters in Otomedia and shit, but it’s gonna be our two bois. IDK what inspired it, but I am excited to have any inspiration at all.

I’m struggling a lot aka having my mid-life crisis... so I’m kind of figuring out what I want to do for the next twenty - forty years. I’ve thought about going back to writing (and self publishing). It is an expensive endeavor and I have no “fanbase” to speak of [aside you guys, but I’m not trying to push my personal projects on you even if I mention them now and then]. Writing isn’t even the hard part. I’ve got 12, maybe 14 books just sitting in my head. Since ‘98 (yes I’m old) I’ve only completed 2 manuscripts... however this is due to losing several due to tech issues, growing into a young adult, ect.

That’s depressing though? If any of you saw the art Scott put out for The Breaking Wheel story it’s so good. It’s how I imagined it.

My wife and I had some strain this last year so we have made Thursdays a day where we go mall walk and try to stay in shape. I’ve remade my savings by selling misc. things (truly, I wish I could own an anime/game store- in fact I will tangent a funny story below) and a little extra. Not trying to go crazy with it, but I figure I can get us a coffee to split once a week while we walk (although that kind of defeats the purpose). We’re gonna try to do more laps each time. I have a strange fascination with the Inca history and culture and I even made a game demo I still intend to remake once (look up 2bitsgames on itch.io) but I may have lost the entire demo ... I think I have the assetts still, although I think I could make even better ones now. I’ve been itching to make a very traditional JRPG and this one is like Final Fantasy X (in terms of Yuna’s story) with some science fiction thrown in.

Now for that story I promised--speaking of wanting to self publish, I thought of porting my guides to importing games/anime into e-books or even Skillshare. I read horrible things about Skillshare lately, though. I think an e-book is still plausible, but not sure if there’s an audience for it. I have helped SO MANY people buy from Japan (not through myself) and that makes me feel like it would be a good endeavor...

I also am dealing with some minor health stuff and trying to distract myself by binging a new show. I just finished some Sweets / Chopped and Sweets / Nailed It thing (I actually don’t LOVE sweets unless its marshmallow) and now I’m watching Disappeared (think: Unsolved Mysteries). These kinds of shows GRIP me!

I keep straying further from FNAF, but I’ll get way back into it once the new book or Security Breach comes out. I just thrive on new content, so it’s hard for me to look at all my work and be creative with it when I don’t have new inspiration. However, if you guys want to try requesting art or one shot fics for Willry / Helliam, I am completely open to that idea and would make time for that.

I know this post is all over the place and I apologize. I have been organizing the apartment (see *some* of my Star Ocean collection below) which includes cleaning and cooking, trying to “earn my keep” while unemployed (my idea, not my wife’s). The Star Ocean collection is my baby; it’s the one thing I would never hate and means so much to me. ALOT of items wouldn’t fit here (sealed games, more figures, plush, can badges, towels, tote bags, a clock, resin kits, keychains, posters... it’s a lot guys. Let me also note this is mostly for Star Ocean: the second story and it’s remake). I’ve been seriously considering updating my HiddenGemToys blog with more reviews soon...

I job hunt but for now I am clearing out everything I can part with to build a savings so we aren’t struggling all the time. I have been playing the Mana games as you know, but I soon move onto the SaGa games, which is daunting. I counted 9 main titles although I’ve read there’s 12 games... so I have my work cut out for me.
