i have NEARLY finished the skirt for my ren faire fit i just gotta get a few finishing details added and also get the undershirt bleached (bc i got a bunch of makeup on it at last years fair and shit Stained) but THEN i can show yall the final fit!!

#day 99 #year 5 #aradia megido #homestuck #its gonna be cute #i was so fucking stressed abt this one because like.#i bought my fabric and i was like oh yeah dude this is toooootally more than enough for a circle skirt #went to finally cut things #realized i only had enough for a half-circle skirt and it would end up with a bunch of weirdly-shaped scrap at the end #(ie i would have to do a bunch of weird piecing to make the waistband and pockets and such)#and like honestly a half-circle skirt was NOT enough volume for me i need my skirts swooshy #so i was like well. okay. i think i can optimize my fabric usage more if i draft a paneled skirt #but this of course required..... Math.#and unfortunately. i was an art major. so. there was a lot of struggling #BUT I DID IT. THERE WAS STILL A LIIIIITTLE BIT OF PIECING THAT HAD TO BE DONE BUT IT IS MINIMAL AND CAMOUFLAGED PRETTY WELL #and also this is for a ren faire primarily bc i dont wear a lot of skirts in day-to-day #SO. economical fabric usage is absolutely period accurate. even though none of the rest of my outfit or techniques are.#basically all thats left for me to do is add pockets and the closure at the back #i meant to add the pockets as i was doing the main construction but i got too excited and forgor #so theres gonna be some seam ripping but nothing too bad

been reading advice pieces from people in the american leather scene of the 80s-90s and it’s seriously reaffirming my desire to be collared by someone, and to only wear that collar as a symbol, not a fashion or sexual statement like i have up til now

I am caught on the self indulgent idea of Jaheira and Halsin and hair combing and braiding, but particularly extending their services to Tav and the gang.

#BG3 Musing #Halsin Posting #jaheira is quick - braids tight and pulls a little and tells you to stop squirming but her braids are all immaculate by the end #and halsin is slower and surprisingly dexterous with his hands but the braids are generally looser and freer feeling #and he'll info dump about what certain styles and placements mean in elven circles #and he prefers the combing part because it reminds him of his familial circles and how his mother would comb all of their hair #and it was a bonding experience #he'll ask if you want him to - jaheira will snark that it looks like a magpie took nest in your hair and motion you over #astarion absolutely wants neither of them to touch his hair at first but the lure of a combing is a very strong one #so they wear him down eventually #lae'zel is also harder to convince but halsin helped get her hair unmatted in the back after a particularly grueling day #and even though she kept grumbling that he can pull it harder and get it over with and got antsy - she actually really liked it #jaheria is *really* good at keeping up wyll's cornrows and parts extraordinarily #and halsin tuts sympathetically when shadowheart tells him she can't remember either of her parents braiding her hair #karlach is ALL FOR IT after her engine is fixed because having your hair combed by someone else??? feels so nice??#(she wiggles and fidgets far too much though)#i am in the craving mood for elvish styles of bonding okay especially with so many elves and half elves in the party #jaheira may have been a little dodgy on the being a mom side but i believe she took care of her children

I always imagined Aurora in full plate before I started playing, but she looks so nice in the various ring mail armors (especially this more ornate one) that I think I've changed my mind a little.

Maybe she favored the chain/ring mail in her days under Bhaal, finding it a more versatile and flexible style of armor over plate, while still giving a reasonable amount of protection. Like heavy armor has disadvantage on stealth either way, but I can't imagine ring mail and full plate would make nearly the same amount of noise.

And then that shows itself again after being tadpoled, with her actively choosing chain/ring mail over anything else without quite knowing why. I imagine it's a more practical armor to travel and fight in anyways.
