Office Love (pt.2)

ASK: reader where reader is his secretary that while cute- often keeps him on his toes and isn't intimidated by the TV man... she's worked for the Vee's (under Vox mainly) she's gotten quite close to them, something like an official 4th member.

Pairing: Vox x secretary!Reader

Warnings: some suggestive content near the end and canon-typical language.

Hazbin Hotel Masterlist (PT.3)

You had just gotten your nails done in a light blue colour, you smiled, watching as the butterfly decals fluttered against the keyboard with each stoke. One email after the other and a few phone calls in between.

"Well Mr. Knife, I apologize but Mr. Vox has no slots open until next month- we could host a session online if you need it earlier? I could try and slip you in before the awards gala on the 13th?" you ask with a cheery voice, holding the phone on your shoulder as you aggressively click your pen on and off, tapping it against the notepad and rolling your eyes, Just pick a fucking date already.

"Y/N-darling! I need you to reschedule my meetings this afternoon, Val just slaughtered the set again~" your boss sings off as your bend your pen in half, exploding in your hand as you grab a tissue to dab off the ink. "Alright Mr. Knife- I am putting you in on the 10th, thats the earliest I've got. Thank yo- ah, ah, ah, with that language you are back to the 13th again. No-yes. Thank you, goodbye now."

You slam the phone back down on the console before turning around slowly with a sharp smile across your face. Tilting your head as your eyes form slits you ask, "What did you just say to me, sir?" Your smile only grows, watching as he fumbles with his necktie and his posture slouches into a groan, screen flickering for a second.

"What happened to V?" Vox teases out, testing the waters as he eyes the door behind you. "There are no nicknames for when you act like a downright prick. You have already cancelled this meeting thrice for Valentino. If that man cannot handle his shit I will see to it myself that he gets his shit together," You rant out, standing from the swivel chair and usher him back in his office. Setting up the call on one of the various screens surrounding the room and calling for one of his assistants to bring a fresh coffee.

Slamming a series of folders against his desk, you watch as his hand moves to touch your waist as twist out of his grasp as huffs out angrily. "I'm the one of deserves to be angry, sir," you state before slapping a sticky-note to his screen with a grin. Running out the door just as the call starts, a dick you drew on the pink pad of paper. You listen to him curse you out, ripping it from his face as he addresses the caller.

While addressing the Valentino issue the next day, Vox is pissed that you were not with him that day. His office was a mess as he arrived late to every meeting without your consistant nagging for his punctuality and appearances.

When you walked back into the office to find him holding up an assistant of his with a threatening series of words echos form his vocal box. You shook your head heavily before letting out a low whistle at the sight. "Vox, come on, really?" you ask the still raging cable man as he shakes, claws still digging into the assistants shoulder as they cry out

"I'm really sorry about this Amanda," you console the poor girl while forcing Vox's grip off of her. Poking at Vox's vest as his chest raises up and down heavily- anger still flowing through his system. You watch as his face buffers, "You need to calm the fuck down." "Saying that is not really helping me, either do something or leave me the fuck alone" Vox deadpans back while placing a hand on your back, leading your towards his office. You shrug, casting up a smile that has him blue-screening, letting out a chuckle, "you seem more than fine now," you tease out, giving his arm a squeeze before adding him to yet another call.

He asks for you to stay, as you sit on his desk. Vox watches as you childishly mock the presenter for their lacklustre performance as he leans back in his chair, smiling wide at your antics.

Velvette and Valentino observe their third V's off-camera glances with a knowing smile crossing each of their lips, opening their phones they text one another back and forth- gossiping like school girls.

"Am I missing something?" Vox comments one returning his attention back to the call. "Never knew you to be the workplace harassment type, Vox," Valentino comments with a sly smirk across his face, twirling his cigarette in hand as Velvette pitches in, "I have a greta new suit for you waiting in my office V. Will nicely match your overheated screen~"

Vox groans out in embarrassment as he hastily clicks out of the call, looking back at you who pays no attention to the surrounding environment as you had become obsessed with your tablet. With the screen turning black you huff out in annoyance, looking for the cause as a certain Vox only shrugs his shoulders and looks at the time. "Looks like your device is fried- it's time for dinner," your boss comments with a wink that has you looking down at your shoes.

Your hands fumble as you fix Vox's tie, the awards ceremony would be starting any minute now and you all were an hour behind. Pushing your lips together in a pout, you were disappointed in the details of Vox's outfit that he couldn't seem to care a bit about. "Your lips looks so kissable when placed like that, may just have to action on it," Vox teases out as he fixes the cuffs on his shirt.

You hold his jacket in between your arms as he bends down so you can place it on him. Velvette hums out approvingly at the scene as Valentino remarks with a growl, "You know, if Vox doesn't kiss you right now, while your legs look ever-so fine in that dress, darling. I would be more than willing to help you."

Casting a smile over your shoulder while already placing a hand against Vox's chest, a blue light is casting overtop of your head as you respond, "I am more of a fuck and feel afterwards kinda person, I thought you would know out of all people Val? Especially in all the years I've worked for you all."

"Is that so?" He tests out just before Vox is slamming you against a wall and smearing your lipstick against his screen. "See you in a few, baby," the TV overlord teases you while racing out the door, leaving you there breathless. "Should have filmed that- made lots of money," Valentino mumbles to himself as you blush heavily, eyes darting around the room.

The morning after, Velvette and Valentino have pinged your digital mail box, flooding it with questions and scandalous pictures that have you rushing to cover your screen as Vox tilts an eyebrow up in curiosity to the apparent images you were looking at.

Groaning out, you NEEDED a vacation day.

Universal took Tremors from its creators after 30 years of work.

TL;DR After 25-30 years making the series, Brent Maddock, Michael Gross, Nancy Roberts, Ron Underwood and S.S. Wilson were kicked out so Universal Studios could make more money off the merchandising before the Tremors copyright expires in 2025.

*****MAJOR SPOILERS**** This will make you sad, angry and frustrated. But there is hope. #StampedeTremors

Soooooo, ever since I blew up and sidetracked a post about David Fincher's Queen Biopic with Sacha Baron Cohen as Freddie Mercury discussing the Tremors 7 ending, I've done some more research on the whole thing. The Graboid hole for this goes deep.

Michael Gross didn't want it.

“There’s a part of me that feels that Universal Home Entertainment might’ve had enough of Tremors. The suggestions that were made in the course of this [movie] made me think maybe they’ve had enough. They came to me and said, ‘What if we ended it at 7?’ and I said, ‘Whatever you choose to do, I’m good with that.'” “That being said, The door is still open for an eighth Tremors. It may seem unlikely by what people see on the screen, but it is possible. There could be an eighth. And if there were, and if it were an interesting story, I would be up for it because Burt is always a great deal of fun. It would depend on his physicality. How much they want me to do. If it’s in another two years, I’ll be 75 years old. So I will continue to hope and pray that I stay in shape, to do what is asked of me – if it is asked of me.”

AND Universal even killed off any ambiguity that he fought for.

"We shot it both ways, where everybody's mourning Burt, and he climbs up over the cliff and looks at all of them in mourning and goes, 'Jesus, God, I'm not dead. And he's really pissed off at them. It's like, 'How would you possibly think...?' But he's bloodied, just he's a mess. He looks like he's been through an earthquake, crushed by a house, but he's alive. And he says, 'You idiots. Of course, I'm alive.'" "They decided it just had this punch. Frankly, I thought to myself -- I didn't express it to them, but I thought to myself -- 'Maybe Universal's getting a little tired of this franchise.' Because this wasn't my idea." "I said, 'I can live with this. Because they came to me. They said, 'Look, you've been doing this so long. What do you think?' And I said, 'Well, as long as we kind of leave the door open.' I mean, I can kind of see an eighth film where it opens with Burt in a hospital bed, in a full body cast and saying, 'I survived.' He could hardly move a muscle. And maybe eight is...if I had a concept for eight, it would be Burt horribly injured, but in a motorized, weaponized wheelchair that has rocket mounts on the side and can leave an oil slick behind like James Bond's car. So nobody can chase him." "I always said, if Kevin Bacon or Fred [Ward] or Reba [McIntire] or anybody [wanted to return], I'd be there in a minute. Just because one, I love Burt, but I always thought of him as this guy kind of on the fringes, and I just came to the fore because everybody else walked away."

While Universal ignored how Michael Gross was setting up his son Travis Welker to pick up his torch (Which I'm give or take on Jamie Kennedy yet he brought a Grady-like optimism to the shittier of the series.)

"My reaction was disappointment, as I had planned an entire storyline around his participation."

Even Jamie Kennedy tried to but they wouldn't let him.

"Lot of people have been asking me, so I might as well spill it. I will NOT be in the upcoming TREMORS 7. I had a great time making the last two. But no TRAVIS this time around. But hey you neva’ know what can happen in the future.... have a great time boys! Tdawg out!!!"

After 7 movies and a TV show, nothing more than a spit in the face for the man who carried a franchise. Then when they do the montage at the end, we get clips of Hiram Gummer but NOTHING of Burt Gummer from the TV show. It's 13 episodes of Burt in Tremors that's longer than all the movies combined but yet they don't even include it in the ending montage while including his dead grandpa.

Same with the original creators. Did you know Stampede Entertainment (Brent Maddock, Nancy Roberts, Ron Underwood, and S.S. Wilson) were working on Tremors for 25 years and even had the 5th one written, "Thunder/Gummer Down Under".

Then were told to sit on it for 10 years before Universal eventually told them to eat dirt? That's gotta hurt. It hurts me and I'm not even connected to these movies. All that work down the drain just because of someone's say so. And for no reason. Well not exactly....

Universal knows fans want Tremors merch. I mean, look at how they took #BurtGummerDay from @BabyFarkMcGeeZax. And they want ALLLLLL of that merchandising money. With none of it going to Stampede because it would give them leverage. Not to mention they don't want anyone else getting the idea to make cute monster toys before they can roll out their own line.

Half a billion dollars... completely untraceable. I've tried. Emailed the numbers people and they can't tell me anything unless you pay $50 a film to see the numbers. Which makes me ask, who paid for the numbers on 1,5, 6, & 7? And why only what they made? Not their cost. Same for the numbers on 2, 3, & 4. Why numbers on the cost, but nothing on what it made? It seems weirdly targeted to make it look like the Stampede Entertainment ones only cost money but made nothing.

Then when you find out that the copyright to Tremors will revert to its creators after the 35 year mark, which makes that date 2024-2025 since Tremors was filmed in '88-'89 but released in '90.....

Wellllllll some things start to add up. Especially when you consider it's Universal. They already know about owning copyrights for things long out of due. Ask Dracula, Frankenstein and the Wolfman. Or Nintendo when Universal tried to sue them because Donkey Kong was too similar to King Kong.

Like did you know you can't find ANY official Tremors merch? But you CAN find tons of fan-made creations. Give it a Google. They don't even list Tremors on the Universal website. Go ahead. Ask them. I try weekly. No responses ever.

Read the script for yourself if you don't believe me. They've already hidden it for two years. Andrew Miller worked too hard for it to be hidden. And it plays. It works and plays with what's already there while being new and old. Quite good.

The whole commercial is a sly way to use Tremors WITHOUT actually saying anything Universal would have claim to call copyright on. "Sandworms" "My old co-star" "Trevors". It's a great big middle finger to Universal.

How about the original script for Tremors 2: Aftershocks. The creators have wanted it seen for 20 years but it took a crazy Larry like me to get it out there. It's got Val, Earl, Burt and Heather in it too. Pretty good too. So good they reused the ending in the TV show episode "Shriek and Destroy".

All these things swirl together and make me wonder more and more. For the plethora of Tremors fandom goes deeper than even me... Like Imgur user @BabyFarkMcGeeZax. They created Burt Gummer Day five years ago through sweat and love alone.

oh ur taking characters?? hrm, would you be willing to do characters from fandoms you aren't in? bc I'm debating lobbing either my fave from something I'm currently watching at you, or two of my favorite characters from a fairly obscure series (and having you pick one, bc design-wise they're really similar; it's an "evil doppelganger/rival" trope sort of deal). upshot of the latter two is that I literally have references from the official website I can fling at you, tho the first one is getting fairly popular so he wouldn't be hard to find...

Magical Otoge Iris review

I'll be upfront and say that on an emotional level, I'd give this game a 9/10. But honestly, it's probably an 8/10. I'll detail why, and also give some tips about how I think you should play this game.

MOI is about Iris, who grew up as an orphan and was adopted by Val, a Magician's familiar. Magicians are guardians of the worlds, and Iris inherited a part of a Magician's power. Growing up she was pretty lonely, except for her childhood friend Rieffe. However, he disappears during their childhood. When Iris grows up, she becomes a Purifier, purifying corrupted spirits so they can pass onto the afterlife. She has a teacher named Reqieu (it's canon that nobody knows how to spell or say his name) who she is close with. The Magician Wynrou gives her a super special lance that is so special it is a spirit, a glasses-wearing grumpy guy named Lanneis. As Iris gets more involved with the Magicians, she meets one of the Magicians, Septem, who records people's lives before they pass onto the afterlife. The story has a ton of characters, all of whom I love. They are all lovely and funny and distinct. Batensan's humor is very meta and there's lots of cute and funny scenes. However, they're also super good at angst and making me sad :''(. The combination of visuals, text, and music are so well done here, and I can truly feel the emotions of the scene. They've managed to make the text shake and bounce which really adds to the intensity of a scene, and there's some fantastic scenes where I was holding my breath. Their art has also continued to get better and better and I love so many of the CGs in this game. I put an example below of Batensan's art, it's not a CG from the game but captures their style. I loved learning more about the fantasy setting of the Magical Otoge worlds, learning about the Magicians, and getting little glimpses of future and previous stories! If you've played the other games in the Magical Otoge series (which you definitely should) you'll love learning more about everything! It's cool how well thought out the setting is, and I was impressed by the volume of characters and stories within this game. There are little side episodes with certain characters that do a great job of building friendships or telling short, heartwarming stories. Batensan is really good at creating wonderful characters, beautiful stories, and making you ~feel~ things. They're also not afraid of exploring the darker side of characters; not all of these characters are saints by any stretch of the imagination. It's definitely not as fluffy and pure as their previous games.

My main criticism of the game is that the first playthrough felt pretty long and not in a fun way. I was interested in how the main plot was going to resolve, but after the route selection there's some meandering about and short episodes with side stories for different characters. It interrupts the momentum of the story, and I felt kind of adrift and unsure when or whether we'd get back to the main plot. It felt that way for the LI's story as well. I loved the shenanigans and characters and so on, but from a story perspective it felt somewhat fragmented. I started to love this game once I replayed the next routes, as I got to skip through a lot of the filler and just see the route-specific content. It felt a lot more streamlined and cohesive.

A few tips: (1) Pace yourself for your first playthrough. The game is somewhat episodic in nature, so play it for a while, and then feel free to leave it for a bit and pick it up again later. Trying to binge-play it is kind of tiring since it's hard to tell how far along you are in the story.

(2) I'd suggest playing the routes in the order they're listed. I think Rieffe's route ties in really well with the overarching story about the Magicians and so on, and gets you more invested in the setting. I played Lanneis's route first, which I think was a mistake, as it's more fluffy and Lanneis-specific rather than tied to the bigger picture. So do Lanneis second, then Reqieu 3rd. Reqieu's is more angsty than Lanneis, so you get Rieffe (angst) - Lanneis (less angst) - Reqieu (angst). An angst sandwich! Septem's is locked for last, and Reqieu's route also leads well into his.

(3) Play all the endings! Yes, even the bad ones. I think they're all really well done. At the very least, do Reqieu's and Septem's.

I really enjoyed this game (especially during my subsequent playthroughs), and I find the story and setting unique and intriguing. Despite this author's reputation for humor (Magical Otoge Ciel), they're also excellent at angst and feels. This was a magical story full of friendship and love (with a dash of sadness and despair), and I'm looking forward to whatever the creator makes next!
