FULL ON FIRE 🔥 - 10th August, 2023

so i woke up at 9:42, scrolled on youtube till 10 am, and then took an hour to fresh up and organize everything. it was worth the time. now i just need to study. i'll start with physics. wish me luck!

it's 1:46, took me 1 hour and 57 mins to finish physics chapter 2 cq. i'll finish chapter 3 after lunch.

it's 6:04 pm, i just finished physics chap 3 which took me 1 hour and 46 minutes and chem chap 2 cq which took me 1 hour and 7 mins.

so in a total of 4 hour and 50 mins, i have finished 18 cqs… that's a huge achievement lol.

i'll take a nap now cuz i literally feel DRUNK right now and my fingers are STINGING from all the writing (writing for 5 hours straight is no joke man…)

but yeah at least i did something! i'm proud of myself!

after the nap, i'll wake up and literally speedrun the work. no chatting. i'll finish the work asap and then finish chapter 3 of chemistry.

i need to do that real fast too, cuz then i have to finish general math chapter 6, 14, and 15.

i'll be finishing these today, NO MATTER WHAT.

and then i'll consider higher math.

but if i have time left after general math but i don't wanna write anymore (cuz it's normal for my hands to be exhausted after so much writing) then i'll finish the mcqs of these chapters i have studied today. won't be much to do. and if i STILL have time left or i just wanna study more. then ig i will start general math mcqs cuz i have finished those chapters' cqs but haven't touched the mcqs.

❅A Love Letter I Have to My Lovely and Beloved Friends❅

(I just know that 30 july was a national friendship day and today is like 31 july already at where I am but,,, just pretend that this is also for National Friendship Day 🤡🔫)

As you all know, it's been confirmed that I'll be going on a hiatus two days from now that I really don't know how long it will go on. So, with that in mind, I wished to leave this message to all the wonderful friends I've made while I was active here on Tumblr during quarantine.

I've started this writing blog a few months ago, to be precise, on May where life in quarantine was starting to become a norm. In the few months until now, I did my best to start writing and drawing more using all the free times that I have.

I wouldn't have expected this blog to grow so much in such a short time. To me, it was really mind blowing, seeing that there's a lot of other great content creators here on Tumblr. Yet, the 300+ people who stumbled upon my blog still decided to follow me.

I was really happy to have made many contents that I'm actually proud of posting. And I still can't believe there are people out there who love them. Seeing every one of your comments and reblogs and likes really, really, squeezed my heart and I couldn't be more thankful for your support.

And during these fun times, I was able to make friends with many amazing, talented, fantastic and all the good words I could find in the dictionary people on here. You all are a real gift to me and I hold you guys close to my heart.

I still can't believe I was able to befriend you guys though, like, y'all are so amazing and I was just here like squeaking my name to you like a shy mice lmao. =///= Anyways, thank you for all the good and fun times. Thank you for being with me and helping me with lots of things. Just, thank you for everything. (I'm writing this at 1am like it's sad hours yall I'm crying :')))

If you are ever feeling down, do not ever forget that, even if it's only me, I'll support you to the end of the world because you're just so amazing and fantastic. I love you and never let any hate that's thrown at you let you down because they aren't worth your time.

Hi! I loved your leitmotif analysis of HTTYD2 and I wanted to know if you had one similar but for the first movie. I'm making my own color-coded map of all of the themes and mostly I just want to know what the themes should be called, not necessarily every instance of each melody (I'm going to find those myself). It would be helpful if you could answer, but if not, I can analyze the music and then find those instances in the film and name them myself. Thanks!

Hello there! Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed that analysis and it means a lot to me! I will admit that old leitmotif analysis was something I wrote in 2014 when HTTYD 2 had barely entered theatres, I’d only seen the movie once, and thus I based many musical analysis claims on memory. Thus, the analysis is in some ways inaccurate or outdated.

However, I do have a few other analyses in which I’ve gone through some of the other themes, both in the HTTYD and HTTYD 2 expanded scores (not just the officially released soundtracks, since those are incomplete). In those analyses I made near-comprehensive compilations of that theme throughout the movies and discussed what that leitmotif means. I planned to do that with every single motif in HTTYD, and had it all mapped out……… but then tumblr became stricter with audio posting requirements, it didn’t allow me to post any of the music, and that project puttered out unfinished. I know the soundtracks well enough I could probably give you all the instances still, but it would take time I don’t have in life anymore, not to mention it sounds like you’re doing that project yourself anyway. ^.^ It’s interesting to see someone else doing a project that I started but never finished… I wish you the best of luck in your endeavor! That sounds great!

So I’ve made a quick video chatting about the themes as I remember them - that should help you with what to name them. How to Train Your Dragon’s Leitmotifs

Alpha theme

Prime example: Two New Alphas 2:56-3:52

This grand theme is about the great dragon leadership position: the alpha. It is first applied to Valka’s Bewilderbeast… but in the end of HTTYD 2, to the new alpha Toothless.

Astrid’s theme: [1] [2] 

Prime example: Romantic Flight 0:00+

This theme is often called by fans as “The Romantic Flight” theme. While there is a romantic element attached to this theme and it occasionally manifests in that connotation apart from Astrid, this theme is focused less on romance and more specifically on Astrid herself. 

Berk theme

Prime example: This is Berk 0:24-0:41

The theme most closely associated with Berk and the identity of the island itself. For instance, it’s always played at the start of HTTYD when Berk is being introduced/reintroduced. It’s paired with a sense of high-strung adventure, such as we hear in “Astrid Goes for a Spin.”

Berk at peace

Take the title of this theme especially with a grain of salt. My impression is that it’s a theme which is played in relatively calm, peaceful, or day-to-day moments. It’s Berk at peace, it’s characters having casual interactions. That’s what I recall, but I could be wrong.

Dragon protector / Toothless’ theme (HTTYD 2) [1] [2] [3]

Prime example: Flying with Mother 0:25-0:44

I’ve talked about this theme a lot, down to analyzing Flying With Mother as its own separate track. This is the theme of the protector of dragons - it’s what I called The Vigilante’s Theme at one point before I realized John Powell said he wrote a theme specifically for Toothless in HTTYD 2. This is the central theme of HTTYD 2 and it’s a theme that Toothless grows into. By the end of the movie, Toothless is able to adopt this melody as a dragon who protects all.

Drago’s theme

Prime example: Meet Drago 0:08-0:31

This menacing theme is about Drago and the threat Drago’s army possesses over the Barbaric Archipelago and dragonkind.

Hiccup’s relationship with Toothless

Prime example: Test Drive 0:22-0:39

This theme focuses on Hiccup and his interactions with Toothless. The music highlights how his opinions of Toothless (and more broadly, all of dragons) change - from something mysterious and feared, to something powerful, bold, and beautiful. In the end it becomes an anthem for how How to Train Your Dragon is a story of… well… flying on dragons!

Progress theme

Prime Example: New Tail 0:00-0:44

Not going to lie, I’m actually just sort of making an uneducated stabbing at this theme. I’d need to rewatch the movie and think about it more. This is more or less a placeholder name. But you never know. I could be right?

Stalka theme

Prime example: For the Dancing and the Dreaming

It’s For the Dancing and the Dreaming, essentially. This is the anthem of Stoick and Valka’s love for one another.

Toothless’ theme(?) (HTTYD) 

Prime example: Test Drive 0:00-0:22

I’ve called this the “Toothless in Trouble” theme in the past, like in that analysis you read from 2014. And it’s true we hear very specifically quoted when Toothless is in danger - for instance, in “Downed Dragon” 3:10-3:36. However, that’s actually just part of what the theme is for, because we also hear the theme in instances like the start of “Test Drive” - which is obviously not Toothless in danger. It’s also the prominent theme that plays when Toothless stares Hiccup eye-to-eye shortly after Hiccup has freed the dragon from his bonds in the woods.

Please, please, please take my comment here with a grain of salt, as I haven’t thought about this leitmotif in depth, but it could very likely be the case that this is Toothless’ general theme in the first movie. Given as it’s played when Toothless is in danger, and played when Toothless is being ridden in “Test Drive,” it could just be the dragon’s theme. In which case… you could talk about some cool motif melding, where the Berk theme and Toothless’ become played well together. Like that doesn’t say something about the melding state of this island’s civilization! But PLEASE take my idea with a grain of salt… it’s a preliminary thought of what this theme means in full.

Undeveloped as a boy

Prime example: Together We Map the World 0:00-0:34+

How to Train Your Dragon 2 focuses much on Hiccup’s sense of identity. At the start of the movie, he is unsure of himself. This here is a theme that demonstrates his lack of understanding in himself. It’s a wandering theme, just as Hiccup’s heart is a wandering heart. He travels the world because he feels unsettled inside of him about what his identity is. It’s to note that the last time we hear this theme play is when Stoick dies. Once Stoick dies, Hiccup can no longer question what his identity is, what his role is to Berk. He has to step into the role of chief. That is now his place and he is no longer an uncertain boy.

Interestingly, you’ll notice that what I’ve called Eret’s theme in the past is actually just a specific way of expressing this theme. It’s played in a very gallant and bold flavor which is why I initially mistakenly separated it off into its own theme.

War theme

Prime example: Ready the Ships 0:00-0:15

A theme focused on when the Vikings are at war or preparing for war, especially war against the dragons. Usually this theme is played in a heavy, dark matter. What’s interesting is we also hear a rather meandering, good-natured version of this theme even when Hiccup is wandering Berk’s forests attempting to find Toothless… so he can kill the dragon.

These aren’t all the melodies in HTTYD but these are most of the main and meaningful ones.

A Mandalorian Birthday Surprise

Word Count: 2.3k

Pairing: Din x Reader, no usage of y/n

Warnings: major fluff, mentions of Cara Dune (yuck, i know, sorry)

Sometimes when Din knows you're fast asleep, he likes to search you up on the holonet to see what shows up. Not that he’s looking for reasons to dump you off in the next space port. No, he’s just curious about what information he can find out about your life before joining him and Grogu.

It’s not until he pulls up a minor traffic violation from Coruscant’s police records when he notices your date of birth. Din never really paid much mind about your birthday in the past, different planet rotations made birthdays a bit tricky. However, he never thought to look up your birthday on the Galactic Standard Calendar. And now, your galactic standard birthday is practically slapping him in the face.

Maker, he thinks, it’s today!

Just his rotten luck. As he sits in the cockpit chair, he glances over at you sound asleep in the passenger seat, making snores so soft even his sensors are having a hard time picking them up. You look so peaceful for someone harboring such a personal secret. Din looks pretty statuesque himself in his armor. While normal, the cause this time is from being frozen in horror at the fact that he has nothing planned for your “big day.”

Zip. Zilch.

Why would I make it such a big deal? Din reasons with himself. Obviously, it’s not something you’re concerned with, never mentioning birthdays. I haven’t revealed mine. Why does it matter?

Din sighs quietly. He knows exactly why.

You matter to every rim of the galaxy in his eyes. Every day, it’s like you wake up and make it your personal mission to brighten up Din’s spaces and make his newly found clan whole. You are the missing piece Din never knew he needed. It’s not a question of if it matters, but rather, “is there a reason I shouldn’t?”

Din taps in a new set of coordinates, careful not to disturb you. Luckily, the destination isn’t more than a few hours away. As he issues a few “urgent” messages through his holopad, Din feels a gentle tug on the end of his cape and finds Grogu rubbing sleep from his Krugga doe eyes. The kid makes hushed coos.

Din picks up Grogu and stands up from the seat, cradling him. “Shhhh,” Din hushes, “don’t wanna wake buir.” He stealthy skirts past you and climbs down the cockpit ladder to whisper a bit more freely.

“It’s a good thing you’re up, ad’ika. We’ve got things to make.”

Grogu frowns and murmurs.

“Yes, that includes snacks.”

For the next couple of hours, Din and Grogu both work on their secret birthday projects in their respective corners on the hull. For Grogu, Din sets the child (along with his newly acquired Mantell mix and juice pack) on a bundle of blankets and brings Grogu his meager art supplies. “Go crazy, kid. But remember, think thoughtfully this time.” Grogu doesn’t pay him any attention as he zones in on the crayons, already having a picture in mind.

Din then saunters off to the cargo hold of the hull to the ship’s nano-cooker. There, he prepares a covert celebration classic, Uj’alayi. It’s a dense cake he and his fellow mandalorians-in-arms used to eat on special occasions (for the most part, but when the sweet cravings struck…). The cake itself is composed of whatever preserves and spices you have on hand: chopped nuts, dried fruit, flour, assorted hand-me-down spices from Din’s covert, and (most importantly) the spiced syrup of uj’ayl.

Once the cake is done baking and cooling, Din carefully stashes it away in a nearby empty crate. He quickly puts on a kettle of his usual jana’caf (spiced caffeinated drink, his specialty) to hopefully mask the smell of the cake. When all of his cooking is complete, Din checks up on how Grogu’s progress is coming along. Despite his size and lack of maturity, Grogu makes quite a few wonderful drawings, even a few decorations of his own. But this artistic expression comes at a price. Grogu has trashed his workspace and is now covered in his work and causes Din to frantically clean up after Grogu and his messes.

As soon as Din has gotten the last of the glue off of Grogu’s face, he hears you stirring in the cockpit above. In a flash, he gathers all of the drawings, decorations, and supplies and throws it in the crate alongside the cake. When you descend the ladder, Din resumes wiping off Grogu’s face to cover up his previous actions.

“Hey,” you say groggily, still dressed in your sweats. “What smells so good?”

The Nose Job (One-Shot)

Summary: You and Grogu try to pass away time by playing a few games. However, the inclusion of one particular mandalorian in with your fun throws a hitch in your plans.

Pairing: Din Djarin x reader (written by a female, but could very well be read with/without the inclusion of gender)

Rating: Teen (I guess??)

Word Count: 3.1K (my bad)

Warnings: some wrestling, few mentions of blood (nothing serious), mild cursing, but mostly just that good fluffy stuff :)

A/N: This takes place at some point before you learn Din's name (hence all the "Mando"s and "mandalorian"s. There is an established friendship. I looked over this to check for any errors, but tbh I'm tried of looking at this so there may be a few hiccups :). Baby's first one-shot. Constructive feedback is much appreciated

Every day you spent with the mandalorian and his son “foundling” presented itself with different challenges. On days when Mando reluctantly allowed you and the kid to join him on one of his hunts, the challenges were trying not to draw too much attention to yourselves, constantly staying alert, constantly being on the move, and being prepared to throw down on a couple of boneheaded bounties if need be. Those days, while usually easy enough thanks to Mando’s meticulous bounty hunting routines, were both mentally and physically exhausting.

Most days, however, were spent in and around the Crest, jumping from planet to planet and getting used to the swirling, quiet hum of hyperspace. Oh, but they were far from restful. Between the three of you, you could give a trash compactor a run for its credits if you and Mando spent a few days slacking on cleaning the ship. Having a little green gremlin on board always getting mysterious stains on himself doesn’t help keep things tidy either. Repairs to the pre-Imperial ship are constantly needed, too. Mando has claimed that the age of the Crest means that it wouldn’t show up on Republic registries.

“But if you're such a good bounty hunter, why would that matter?” you asked him one day while he worked under the control panel. “Sure, it helps, but with all of the credits being used for new parts, you could have already bought a state of the art ship that wouldn’t need repairs every return to Nevarro.” Mando slid out from under the panel, stared at you for a moment, slowly swapped the tools you held out for him, and shuffled back underneath, thus ending that conversation. The man’s dedicated, you thought, I’ll give him that.

But, on rare occasions, everything on your and Mando’s chore list was done. The kid was clean, the ship was looking snazzy, and nothing was breaking. In between hunts on those days, there was nothing else better to do than to sit around and stare at each other. This was fine with Mando of course, spending most of his time in mental solitary confinement anyways. However, you and Grogu needed something more stimulating than wandering thoughts to prevent yourselves from losing it. And that meant playing off each other to keep yourselves entertained.

Neither of you could toss anything. The Crest was too cramped for that. All you could do was roll Grogu’s metal ball back and forth to each other, but that usually got old pretty quick. You two normally try arts and crafts time, but you’ve recently noticed the ever growing stack of scribble drawings beside Mando’s bunk and decided it was best to give that a rest for now.

Both of you were banned from playing hide and seek. It’s not like it was fair to begin with anyways. You couldn’t fit into as many crevices as the kid could, and you felt like he always cheated by sensing you with his mind powers. But, the ship of a professional hunter was not the safest place to play the game, and Grogu’s innocent enough hide in the carbonite freezing unit one day was enough for you and Mando to call it off.

And now, here you are, sitting in front of the bug-eyed baby on the floor in the hull of the ship, pulling out all of the stops you can think of just to get a few giggles out of him.

So far, you’ve tried your entire arsenal: rhythmic clapping games, pretending to munch on his ears (don’t ask), and blowing raspberries on your arms (that one is his favorite, gets him in the giggle fits every time). But now that he’s calmed down, it was time to try a trick that you haven’t used before…

“Hey Grogu,” you muse. Grogu’s head whips up to meet yours. You gently snip your fingers on his nose and quickly place your thumb in between index and middle finger, wiggling it furiously. You taunt him, “I got your nose!” A toothy grin spreads across Grogu’s face as he tries to grab your thumb. You tease him by bobbing your hand up and down, just away from his reach.

Once you finally let him take your fist to examine it, he looks at your thumb, curious at first, but then his smile disappears. Puzzled at this, you “reattach” his nose and show him your empty hand, signaling that everything is alright.

No reaction.

Huh. That’s weird.

You try the trick again with more exaggerated shocked expressions. “Look! I’ve got your nose again, Grogu! Oooooo!”

Nothing.

Your hands fall into your lap with a slap in defeat as your shoulders raise toward your ears. “What gives, kid?”

“In case you haven’t noticed, cyare,” a deeper voice calls from behind you, “your ‘nose’ isn’t exactly small and green.”

The mandalorian has been sitting on a crate across the hull, trying to keep himself busy by scribbling things down in his notebook all the while observing the two of you play. You would have forgotten he was there in the first place if it weren’t for the faint scraping of graphite coming from his corner.

The confusion wipes away from your face when you scrunch the bridge between your eyebrows together. You roll your eyes as you shift your body to face Mando.

“Alright, tinny. If it’s so easy, then why don’t you have a crack at it.”

But, the longer you jokingly glare at Mando, you realize that your solution is staring you in the face (at least, you think he is). The concealed visage

of the mandalorian gives you the perfect candidate to show off your nose-stealing magic to Grogu. You flash a wicked grin at the mandalorian.

Explain how you got through it. honestly, the most traumatizing death i've ever gone through was my cat, lilly. she was 16 years old. she was a part of my life since i was 3 years old. she was so important to me. she slept with me every single night, under the cover and cuddled up next to me. she was so lovable. i saw her deteriorate over her last year of life. it was so hard because i saw her become really lazy, she lost half of her body weight, she stopped eating, she stopped sleeping with me, she even cried whenever people tried to pet her. it was so hard to get over her death because she was everything to me. she was the best cat ever. i will never forget her

hey, I am also autistic and applying for a degree like medicine that requires a lot of good 'interpersonal skills'. I've received so many criticisms from professionals who say I won't be able to study it bc I'm autistic, and it's really getting on my nerves! Have you ever dealt with something similar?

Sorry for taking a while to get back to you. I promise I didn’t forget. I’ve been trying to think of what useful advice I could offer. Hopefully everything I’ve written is at least coherent.

First of all, I should preface this by saying that I’m not a doctor or any kind of professional. I’m a high school student who’s planning on going into medicine, but I haven’t gone through much of that process yet. I’m guessing that you might be older than me, just by the way that you phrased your question, but I could be wrong. I should also mention that I don’t disclose my autism to…anyone, so I’ve never been directly discriminated agains for being autistic. 

In general, if you’re dealing with people who don’t think you can accomplish what you want to, the best thing to do is shrug it off and prove them wrong. Especially if they don’t think you can become a doctor because you’re autistic, that’s probably only because they believe the stereotypes that the media perpetuates (that all autistics have no empathy and just go around being rude to people). And that’s not a valid reason to tell someone that they can’t do something. If you think that you should go into medicine, don’t let anything get in the way of that. Use the fact that they don’t believe in you as motivation, if you want. Do well in your classes and look for opportunities to get ahead, and hopefully one day they’ll realize that they were wrong about you. In the meantime, you might also want to look for classmates or people on similar tracks as you who are also autistic/neurodivergent, or autistic role models. I’m sure if you look hard enough, you’ll be able to find plenty of autistic people who are already in the medical field. 

If you’re struggling to be hired or admitted into a program because of your autism, well, that’s a little more tricky. I don’t want to tell you that you should claim to be “high-functioning” or pretend to be more neurotypical than you actually are so that you can get a job, but it might improve your chances if you’re willing. I personally don’t think there’s anything wrong with pandering to NT beliefs a little bit if it’ll help in the long run (like in this case, where I know having a good autistic person in medicine could be great). 

On the subject of seeking out jobs, if there’s an interview process (I don’t know exactly what you’re planning on studying, so I don’t know what you’ll be up against, but this is something all neurodivergents should know) you’ll probably want to prepare. A lot of people have written about what you need to do to pass those interviews (because there are often trick questions and mind games involved. And if there’s a personality/aptitude test, I know there are more tricks you’ll need to understand in order to even be considered (once again, NTs for some reason can be really opposed to finding the best person for a job). I’d also advise you to know your rights (and I realize that by this point, I’ve strayed incredibly far from your question). As a person with a disability, know what rights you are afforded under the ADA (if you live in the United States, if not, under whatever laws your country has) and know that there’s always the possibility you will have to fight for them. For example, prospective employers cannot ask you for any health information before offering you a job, and they cannot fire you because of your disability. Hopefully you’ll never have to deal with any illegal discrimination (although to be fair, legal discrimination isn’t much better), but it’s good to be prepared.

To end this very long-winded answer to your fairly straightforward question, I’d just like to remind you that autistic people are every bit as capable as neurotypical people. And in a field like medicine, you may find that your autism actually gives you a lot of advantages. You might be more detail-oriented than your neurotypical peers, or have a superior memory. You’re probably more logical and may be able to easily separate your emotions from your decision-making process (if you’re hypoempathetic and/or have alexithymia). Or you might have hyperempathy and be able to easily tune into the feelings of your patients. Obviously, as an autistic person you may have to work harder to be aware of your mannerisms and tone of voice if you’re working with patients. But there are plenty of things that doctors/medical professionals have to do that neurotypical people are not naturally suited for either. I wish you the best of luck in dealing with allistics as you navigate your career path (but feel free to visit my inbox any time - I love getting messages from people who are going down the same path as I am).
