Heya guys. Sorry for posting this for the billionth time. But maybe if you guys would like to give my posts about patreon a boost it would mean the world to me. I know I post this a lot and I don't take any help I receive for granted. I've only been able to make two new drawings since February. Bc every day I have been working almost 9 hours. I'm sick nearly every other week, my lymph nodes are swollen n I've been feeling incredibly depressed. I am from the global south, in the philippines, government help is near nonexistent. I am the sole caretaker of three disabled people. My mom can not do any housework, she is a full time wheelchair user, she needs care 24/7, insulin, adult diapers and kidneys that are under threat of failing if we don't watch her health, my dad has a chronic heart condition and my sister is autistic with a very low frustration threshold. Both my parents are diabetic, and I am the only person in my family who can work. I currently have three jobs, one in publishing, but I have a morality clause which means the publishing house can take back every single penny I make if I or the author fail to meet certain expectations. Anyway.. I have been working nonstop, my scoliosis is untreated and extremely painful, n for the past few four days I have been rationing a single can of spam and a few potatoes. Would mean the world to me if you guys could pick up a print, or subscribe to my patreon, or reblog any of my old art or send me a tip on ko-fi or anywhere else. Sorry and thank you again. ooooobliiiiigaaatory sso post because new dark rider design dropped! erissa (not sure why they didnt just keep elise or change it to eris? but that's ok!), the remake of chiyo, just dropped, and... she's white! interesting. there were a lot of ways sso could've saved the dark riders fumbles. there were a LOT of those fumbles, but the one i hammered on the hardest was chiyo, because i myself am japanese, and immediately know a bad design when i see one. likewise, i'm pretty spot on with calling how that character will most likely be written, and can make a few good solid guesses. i will say, i feel lots more in common with sabine, and am against the way they designed someone i could relate to and then painted them staunchly as a villain; likewise with all the dark riders, this may be sso's most diverse group yet, and they are villains. HOWEVER. at that point, they had already put them in-game, and now all i can hope for is some good old fashioned childhood "everything ends up fine" writing that shows these characters some love and perhaps sways them from their homocidal ways.

back to erissa.

why was chiyo's design racist? well, it wasn't just her. most of the dark riders were handled poorly. to be honest, i've talked SO much on this blog about why chiyo was such a bad design that i simply don't want to rehash it. was it the worst i'd ever seen? no. but putting in those stereotypes to a game children -- WHITE children -- play is like teaching children to hit bees nests for fun. it's pointless and hurtful to everyone.

SO: what do i think of erissa? she's cute! i like this design way better than the last.

that's it. whole idea. i think the colors are more comprehensive, i like the crochet details, i think the hobby horse looks a little silly but i kinda like it. overall, i am happy.

now you're probably wondering, "what, so sso can't make non white villains!?" and the answer to that is 1. don't be stupid and 2. of course they can. but they better put just as much effort into the rest of sso. they don't, though. our only buff woman is alex, who barely counts because she's kinda small as fuck in game. that leaves Sabine, who's more buff. her character is nonwhite, visibly has arm hair, and until proven otherwise, is nonhuman. not only that, she's evil. that sends some pretty strong messages, and, side tangent, but to anyone too goofy or too stubborn to see how that's a problem, i'm excited to see how the children in YOUR family turn out, be it yours or other family member's. will YOU teach them what racism is and why it exists and the complexities of it that people scoff at that allow it to continue to exist day in and day out, or will you let them play all the other games that DONT revise their writing, where the good characters are straight and white and every other type of "normal" and the enemies are gay or nonwhite or both? anyway. i hope you see my point.

"oh, so you're pulling a save the children thing? so what, you want everyone to be th3 same?" no. i want them to take chiyo's design, make her clothes look better, make her default state not like a mouse, and put her in the game as sso's like. only japanese character. i'd fucking love that! do you know how little representation there is for weird japanese girls? we dont got dick or shit. it'd be so fun to have a slightly redesigned chiyo as an npc, i'd totally fucking adore that! different clothes bc i think her past design was a little. ourgh. it'd be fun and cool if they made her like, a budding emo? omg that'd resonate with so many people i'm sure, and the purple hair is already suited to it. black hair would also be cool, though. do you see what im saying here, though? context is everything. im sad sabine is a bad guy. im sad every white girl who plays this game gets someone to relate to. i guess i too really relate to and like anne, but that's where the similarities end. it's easy to say "why does race matter?" in a sea of white people if you're white, but it can get lonely playing any video game if you're not white. sso is one of the best games ive found in terms of trying to really add diversity (although im still waiting for updated fat npcs), and that's why i weighed in so heavily. it matters to me. i love this game. i think they've done so much good with it recently, i'm really just beyond impressed and in love.

i think erissa is a good design.

☆ The Horrors Of Gian's Birthday (2007)

this episode is a birthday special as u can tell from the title and it's also about 20 minutes long, orrrr if we're being precise, it's made of two 10-minutes-long episodes. at the beginning it pisses me off cuz nobita and shizuka initially forget gian's b-day and once suneo reminds them, all 3 of them and doraemon do the most to avoid attending his party. gian isn't the best person on the show and he's full of flaws but having fake friends is horrible...

nobita needs to finish his homework faster, doraemon wants longer legs, suneo wants his arms and hands to be ladylike, gian wants to know what it's like to be skinny. so they respectively switch head, legs, arms and torso with shizuka. she rightfully gets her body parts back in the end, but i wish doraemon did something about suneo's arms, he seemed truly unhappy with 'em. 💀

the episode starts with suneo and a model (or a woman who works in the fashion industry) talking about current fashion trends and then suneo starts laughing at nobita for not knowing shit on the subject. obviously, nobita initially claims he doesn't give a fuck and a couple minutes later he's crying to doraemon cuz he wants to copy suneo's hobbies, and he obviously needs some gadget to do so cuz he's not good at the things suneo does. 🥱

p.s. suneo and his mom are so cunty, no other family duo is seeing them, ever!

after the animation update in 2018 the titles just kept getting weirder and the episodes more boring, are they even making original episodes anymore nowadays? cuz they're always making those horrible remakes of classic episodes... but this is the exception, it's cute as fuck. yeah, once again nobita is jealous that suneo has a passion and is good at doing what he loves, so he asks doraemon for help. it's annoying bc he doesn't want it as bad as suneo does, he just wants to keep up with him (he can't), but all these episodes with the fashion designer thing are nice so i'll focus on that. also it's cute that suneo's mom lets him wear and borrow her clothes!

that nintendo direct was so horrible.

it was literally like 80 percent remakes and remasters.

never in my life have i seen an announcement video exist just to say "every game you've ever known since the 90s is being remade/remastered, sorry, we ran out of originality".

literally like all the video game market is anymore is remakes and the movie industry is just as bad.

the nso releases are fine because they're not like, remakes taking up full game slots. they're old games that are being made accessible and that's great... but there's no need to remake this many games when they can do that. remakes used to be rare. remember stuff like the wii u shop and stuff? with all the games they had on those things? now it's a tiny selection and everything else is a remake :/

also I feel like a lot of new rpgs are just like... lowkey fe knockoffs now instead of original rpgs.

i'm happy for like... two existing remakes, but one of them is mario rpg which people wanted waaaaAAAAAYYYY before the remake and remaster era, and the other is baten kaitos which im not actually happy about remaster-wise (the updated ui is trash, they took out very specific charms of the original ui), just happy that it will get more recognition/notice from people since it was never popular.

they also completely removed the english voice acting which like okay yeah it wasn't always that great but the voices fit perfectly and it wasn't as bad as fans meme on it for! it just sounded like they were talking through a tube and that was actually the worst part of it lol.

someone suggested to me that they may have just lost the data for it, but idk. i wish they'd just admit that somehow if it was the case, because it bugs me that the english audio is just completely gone when ultimately i really liked it. i wanted the game to be accessible to newer players, sure, but i also wanted the english audio there. ig that's because i grew up with it and i liked it, but it's still such a bummer for me!

paper mario being put on the nso and tyd getting a whole remaster does make me sad tho bc it feels like they're leaving the original in the dust when it was so good. if you're gonna do tyd, at least do them both.

good for innersloth though, i'm sure they never imagined being on a nintendo direct. they're the real winners here.

my ocs that i mostly post about here belong to a future comic i intend to write, draw and post online called "chimera kingdom"! this is the tag on my blog -> #chimera kingdom <- it's comprised of art of my ocs as well as some miscellaneous stuff

it's a story that means a lot to me and one i definitely want to write in its entirety .. someday .. bc some of my oldest ocs are here!!! kimberly is my oldest oc i still use!!! she is a decade old!!! buzzer and ry are also almost as old, they were made like. idk. a week after kimberly ??? and fun fact but atticus is technically the oldest oc of the bunch but he's not technically my oc since i'm borrowing him from my friend. but i was given permission to write him my own way for this comic so YIPPEE!!!!!

it's a humble project with a lot of sentimental value, so i post about it occasionally even though this is mainly a fan art blog, i haven't illustrated it all, and don't know when it'll be done. not sure if i necessarily have "big dreams" for this thing, but it'd be cool to see it all come together ....... someday

BUT ANYWAY! some general lore and worldbuilding of "chimera kingdom" bc that's important!!!

the short synopsis: "in the near future, a government-funded lab/secret service/school conglomerate called the Chimera Kingdom experiments on humans. chimeras are the newest step in human(?) evolution, individuals with the added survival skills of a specific animal. they primarily exist to kill off monsters— dangerous, soulless creatures set to destroy humanity if not combated."

so basically chimeras are the merging of a human body and the strength, survival skills, and instincts of one animal. they still maintain their human body throughout unless their animal limbs serve as part of their survival (like bird chimeras with wings, big cat chimeras with claws, etc.). chimeras have to manually tap into their chimera states, meaning that under normal circumstances they're just regular humans. when a chimera's chimera state is active, a symbol on their inner wrist will appear and glow. that's what these are!

chimeras are like. fantasy science basically. they're definitely scientific creations in-universe but leave some breathing space for fantasy too, so u don't concern urself with the specifics. the further this story goes, the more reality will be suspended as well

so how does this relate to the characters ?!?!

i won't go tooooo in depth with the individual characters since that would make this ask way too fucking long and i doubt anyone would want to read that. so i'll just link this post and this post which have the basic run-downs for the 10 student characters. these posts are a bit outdated now but i haven't had the time or the luxury to remake them so ..... they'll do for now =v= i also don't have everyone's bios written, so there's more characters than just these 10. if anyone i draw catches ur interest feel free to ask me! i WILL scream about them

anyway all 10 of them are chimeras attending Chimera School, a part of the Kingdom. the 10 of them make up the elite class, aka the "best" class due to everyone's potential to be very strong and useful chimeras. this class ignores grades since it's more focused on chimera missions and other stuff directly benefiting the Kingdom, less on actual academics (though they still learn the basics, dw). so they're of different ages but still on the same level playing field

the protag is kimberly, she's a rabbit chimera and her goal at the Kingdom is to become the strongest chimera!!! she's been in her twin brother ry's shadow since she can remember, so she has a bit of beef with him though it's not inherently malicious. he's good at everything so she wants to be better than him in just one thing. like .. u know when siblings are a little fucked up? yea :D

she acts as the audience surrogate for a bit before more perspectives are introduced. everyone has their own goals and motivations, and develop as the story moves forward. i intend for "chimera kingdom" to delve into war, love, grief, vulnerability, reclamation of power, and what it means to be human. and what it means to be an individual being when u can't even feel like u're worthy of being anyone. ya feel ?!?!?!?!

every character deals with one or multiple of these themes! in some kind! so lmk if there's a specific character u're interested in !!! i will word vomit for HOURS. i just don't want to crowd this already-crowded ask when there's a good amount of characters in my comic. and again i implore u to check out the links above for some quick info :)

Regarding Snaxter

i feel like making a somewhat important post. tbh this is sort of just me looking back on the entire au and remembering all story stuff with it that i feel like sharing and also wanting to answer question that nobody asked. sorry for any spelling issues, im pretty sleepy rn.

this is a long post so strap in.

so i think its best to start this post off with just detailing what the story of snaxter was going to be through four different remakes of the drafts.

Original Story

original snaxter story was going to be a murder mystery arg blog where it was the readers job to figure out who killed filbo fiddlepie. scrapped due to me not being able to keep up the drawings for the blog. also because i couldn't think of a way to implement it correctly. this version also was why i made Zylrr because he was meant to be an antagonist. really disliked him when i first made him to a point i made an alt version of him for just normal bugsnax.

hell here's his first designs because im feeling nice today.

Second version of the story

was going to make it centered around a cult, scrapped due to lack of creativity. also when looking back on both the original and this version of the story there was a lot of ablest story telling that i was unaware of (going off of old chats with an ex bc those are the only source of info i still have on old snaxter)

i think this was also when i started adding other people's oc's. i don't remember that much tho.

Third version of the story

a deep dive into the mental state of kerleb and his entire family. pretty much just a therapy session with body horror much like the original story of bugsnax. scrapped because of said similarity.

also when i chose to make Eggabell somewhat of a mysterious character in the story as she would be just a voice from kerlebs phone for the most part.

Fourth and last version of the story

???? i don't know what was happening at this point, i was so focused on character design and world building that i completely forgot about the story.

i do remember that the ending did involve kerleb's actual dad being the heart of the island. that was honestly the only coherent part of the story.

scrapped entire au due to mental issues getting worse.

so i also wanted to give some more context to what will actually be happening to Snaxter as a whole.

Snaxter au isn't dead, i know the post i made before made it seem like that but i was having a severely bad episode at the time.

at best the au is being held off for a bit until i get a better grasp at the whole story telling thing.

knowing how messy it was before i'd DEFINITELY need to redo everything about the lore.

sadly i would have to cut a lot of other people's characters from the story. mostly due to respect of boundaries and also because i want the story to not rely on other people's characters.

i won't work on the au that much, mainly because i'm knee deep in cult of the lamb and my own personal project.

i'm not going to have anyone else work on snaxter for personal reasons as well.

TL;DR for the last bit, Snaxter AU isn't dead, its just the leg and im floofty.

i know nobody likely cares about snaxter anymore but if it pleases those who were interested thats alright with me.

It’s stated in game that Barret’s branch of Avalanche is different than BC Avalanche (but they do help each other out as seen in Chapter 5 apparently)

My theory is this: Everyone, new and old to Avalanches organization, knows of Rufus having funded Avalanche and Barret knows of this through the grapevine. Perhaps he (Barret) holds a vendetta against Rufus (ShinRa as a whole but if Rufus is in his line of sight he would point the finger at him) for not continuing to fund Avalanche.

I would like to say that it’s still too early to say that BC was washed away completely, seeing as there’s 2 more parts of the remake left and much can be changed, added and connected from other installments of 7. It may be an AU, seeing as the remake has gone off course with Zack having lived after his “final” stand. I truly hope this isn’t a jumbled mess lol

Yes, Barret's group is considered "too extreme," which is fair, since they blow buildings up. That's pretty extreme. I think the idea that Barret knows Rufus funded Avalanche is interesting, though I'm not sure I agree. Purely because he seemed real excited about the idea of "finishing off the family" (HA joke is on you Barret, there are so many others with Shinra blood out there 😂 - I digress), and if he knew Rufus funded the efforts of the group trying to save the planet, I'm not sure why that would be so appealing given that Rufus didn't pull funding - he was "fired" by Fuhito and the other members of the original Avalanche. He might have other reasons for hating Rufus (e.g. he actually sided with Fuhito in the coup) and that would be very interesting, I think. But it might just be an oversight in the writing or translation.

I agree that it's too early to say what they're really doing with the storylines of the original compilation, which is why I want answers. 😂 But I will be patient and play the CC remaster like a good fan, lol.

I am very curious about where they're taking this Zack thing, if anywhere. It's clear to me that there are at least two timelines at this point, but to what end? I imagine we're going to see some parallel story moments moving forward, and perhaps some eventual timeline merging. Idk. Giant mess is definitely still on the table. 😆

lmao i feel the same way when people say the italian (or any of the remakes) version is better. i don't really care about the remakes so i'm mostly following them through you but i also dislike the fact that they look way older than 17/19. the worst thing is ive seen people say that those who complain about their age just want to fetishize them but like...i feel the same way about any show where adults play teens. lol sorry i got carried away

yay i’m not the only one who feels this way 👊 i know it’s stupid to get so upset and butthurt about it, but i can’t help it. idc as much with the other seasons bc i’m not as emotionally attached to them as i am to s3, and as much as i love skam i can admit it has plenty of problems. but, and i’ve mentioned it before, s3 is like….sacred afaic. it’s so layered and complex, so brilliant, so perfect and flawless. how can you say *anything* is better than that? especially when i see things that are (to me) so obviously *not* better (i’ve read some great posts about it too). so then you have people flailing and waxing poetic about how much better this and that is, and i’m here screaming into the void ‘but it’s not???????? how do you not see this?!?! WHY AM I ALONE IN THIS????’ i’m highly frustrated most days, ngl. 

yes THANK YOU! i’ve been bitching about their ages from day one and i know it’s hella annoying, but it really bothers me, it’s why i didn’t get past the first clip of s1. it’s been rather frustrating being the only one bothered by it (what’s wrong with me that only i care???), so good to know i’m not the only one. saying that those who complain about it just want to fetishize them doesn’t make much sense tho? if all i cared about was fetishizing two guys kissing then wouldn’t i watch it DESPITE how old they look? like why would i complain about anything (or even not watch at all) in that case, just bring on the homosexuals! ya know?

the most annoying thing to me tho was this call out post that had a bunch of pics of characters from american shows like glee, riverdale, the oc etc, and was like ‘you think martino’s actor looks too old to play a teenager but those guys doing it seems totally realistic to you huh lol’ and like….no? that’s missing the point? obviously i can only speak for myself, but it’s always been weird to me seeing adults playing teens, it’s completely unrealistic, but that’s the case for almost EVERY american show and movie, so after a while you just get used to it. if this was just any other show, i’d probably be ‘lol he doesn’t look 17’ and kept on watching bc that’s just how it is. but this isn’t just some random show - THIS IS A REMAKE! IT’S BASED ON SOMETHING THAT ALREADY EXISTS! it’s the same characters, there’s something to COMPARE them to, so ofc my brain is going to compare! and since in skam most of them *were* teens, the difference is so big and obvious that i can’t ignore it, and it just really, really bothers me. plus, the thing about skam that made it so different and special was how natural and realistic it was - something that those other shows never tried or claimed to be. THAT’S why i have a problem with it. i expected the remakes to channel og skam’s vibe, so when they channel typical american teen dramas, it feels off for me. and like….isak is supposed to be smol and young and vulnerable, even is supposed to be the older one, the one taking the lead in this new relationship, but i just don’t get that AT ALL with skamit. they look the same age to me, they look like a couple of 20 something, and *for me* it affects the story being told. some people don’t have a problem with it, cool for them, but i think it’s a valid complaint. i’ve seen some people say that even tho the cast is 20+ that’s how italian teens look like….i find it hard to believe that anyone looks the same at 21 as they did when they were 16/17, but hey i’m not italian so what do i know. *shrugs*

i have more things to rant about, but i’ve ranted long enough and i don’t actually want to offend anyone. enjoy what you want, even if idgi, it’s my own problem that i get upset and don’t know how to deal with it like a normal human being! 🙃
